The Whaler 661 should be called an inflation buster! I actually called the owner to double check that I had read the rate correctly!! It seemed too good to be true. The owner told me that she was trying to keep in tune with these difficult economic times and was running specials to fill in any holes in the schedule and to attract customers that wanted to stay in a nice condominium but were also really trying to stick to a budget. In case you are not familiar with The Whaler, the location is wonderful. It consists of two towers and is also on the beach where many of the sunset cruises and snorkel trips launch on a daily basis.
We found a really cute restaurant less than ten minutes away called Mala, which is located on the water in Lahaina. It is situated across the street from the Lahaina Cannery Mall, behind the Safeway supermarket. It is a great spot for lunch, dinner or pupu’s. They also offer tapas as well as regular entrees. My personal favorite was the Caramel Miranda dessert. We loved unit 661 as we found the views to be so relaxing and couldn’t get over watching the whales breach in and out of the water. Whale watching has become our new favorite pastime. We both brought a few books for our vacation, but instead found ourselves mesmerized by the constant activity of the whales. Hence, not much reading, but lots of pictures of the whales. It’s ok. We can read anywhere, but spotting whales is unique to the Hawaiian islands and particularly to Maui. The whales love the warm waters off of The Whaler. They know a good thing when they find it! Our friends had told us about unit 661. It truly was even more magical than they described. It’s also nice to find an owner who is friendly and responsive to the economy that we are all dealing with. If condos were rated, I’d give it five stars!!! — Cathy February 2009
Susan, my wife and I were in your unit last week (The Whaler 661) and had a wonderful time. We have had much more expensive vacations, but not any that were more relaxing. I was able to see into several other units as we past by and it seems you have made an extra effort to provide a much more upscale accommodation. By the way, the bed is very comfortable.
What was exciting to see was that one of your pieces of wall decor (the print on the hall/kitchen area that says "Live Aloha Hawaii") is framed in my product. I designed and copyrighted the "straw" matting around the print. So, I know you have good taste!. Thanks again and I hope I will be able to book again next year — Danny H. January 2009

Thanks, Orise and Susan. We had a wonderful time. Each day was perfect. I didn’t think the construction was such a big deal as some people on Trip Advisor are saying, but that may partly be because of the location of your condo. #661 is just perfect for us. This was our 2nd time and I hope to be in touch with you soon about reserving dates for next year. My husband hates the trip which is long from PA, but once he gets there he loves it. The Whaler is making huge changes to the courtyard. I could go again tomorrow!
Thanks again,

Thank you so very much. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Whaler, unit 661. The room was absolutely perfect ...... everything we had hoped for. It was our fist trip to Maui and hopefully, will not be the last. Not only was the room everything we hoped for, but the people at the Whaler were so very nice and helpful they really made us feel like part of the family. We met many lovely people from all over the country which enriched our stay a great deal. The location of the Whaler could not have been any better. The beach was pristine and the water was clear and clean. We enjoyed our morning walks along the beach and the evening sunset view from the room. We were at no loss for things to do on Maui - it is truly paradise.
Unfortunately, we do not have digital photos to send to you. We are still operating with the "old fashioned" style 35 mm cameras. We did get some beautiful sunset pictures from the balcony of the condo.
Once again, thank you for sharing your condo (661) with us. It made our vacation very comfortable and enjoyable.
Please keep in touch. — Bruce and Donna December 2008
