The room was excellent. It had everything it needed down to insect spray, beach chairs and Tupperware containers. As I read previously in another review a guest thought that the mattress was too soft and my back was hurting as well. But I am coming spoiled from a tempurpedic mattress at home. I own a cleaning service and am particular about cleaning. The room was in great shape. A little dust behind the night tables and the bath tub could have used some soapscum remover. There was a door that separated the apartment or room next to 7201 that had no lock in it. One night when we where watching tv we noticed that the neighbors walked in but then quickly backed up. I pointed it out to the resort and I am sure it was fixed already. We loved using the jacuzzi at night to relax and meet up with other guests. Overall everything was absolutely great and I would book the same room again. Thank you!! It was beautiful to open the big sliding door and listen to the waves crashing while falling asleep. In the morning we could enjoy the sunrise to the left over Hanalei bay while having breakfast.
Manager response:
We are delighted you enjoyed unit 7201. Every adjoining unit has two doors that close against one another. The door on your side has a doorknob only on your side, so once closed no one can open it from the other side. The same is true for the door that closes against it but opens from the adjoining unit. I believe the door on your own side was open as the other guests would not have been able to open it. In future please rest assured you can close the door on your own side and others will not have access to your unit.

I knew what I wanted when I booked this unit. I wanted one that was close to the main pool, but not near the center of the complex. I also wanted a view similar to the unit I book when I use my annual timeshare. This unit was perfect, especially since I don't mind a bit of an uphill walk. I was disappointed to find that the main pool was closed through the duration of our stay. That is one of my favorite things about HBR. We were hoping that It would be ready before we departed, but it wasn't scheduled to be completed until ten days after our departure. The galley was more than adequate, and being close to the small pool and barbeques was a real plus. The home was very nicely furnished, and was a great place to hang out, with my son.

The room itself is just as described - nothing more, nothing less. Which is why it's such a great deal. It's comfortable with a fantastic location, amazing view at a reasonable nightly fee. The decor in the room is a bit dated though the addition of the butler's pantry was definitely a useful (and attractive) add. My only qualm with the resort/ room is that they do seem to nickle and dime you for what you would typically expect to be included in the fee (e.g., a key for the in-room safe). But that said, the resort is nice and so are the staff. I would definitely recommend this condo and resort.

Hbr 7201 was a good deal and perfect for our needs

Shazzamaroo from Victoria BC on 02/23/2011 said:
Hbr 7201 is a small condo with only a 'butler's pantry' instead of a full kitchen. We did not expect much, but were pleasantly surprised. The fridge has a small freezer which was perfect for our ice pack. In addition to the microwave and coffee maker, which we expected, there is a toaster oven and a kettle. Dishes were adequate although bigger coffee cups would have been nice. Paper towels, napkins, salt and pepper, rubbermaid containers, foil, a cutting board and a dozen hangers were unexpected extras nice to have. King size bed was comfortable but a bit on the soft side for my taste. Furniture was in good shape, and the decor was ok. The resort has barbecues and a sink, counter and stove (but no dishes or pots and pans) in the small pool area which was near the condo, so we had dinner in a couple of times. Bbq worked well. We thought the condo, although small, made very good use of the space available. The lanai is completely covered so unless there was a downpour we had our meals outside. There is a marsh next door so the no-see-ums were a bit of a nuisance in the evenings that had no breeze. The condo is pretty far from the lobby and parking lot but we didn't mind the walk and it was very quiet at that end. Views of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai were lovely. I would have liked it if they had changed our towels mid-week and provided an extra tea towel. Overall though, a very nice stay and we didn't spend much time in the room. Excellent value for the money we paid.

I booked this unit online and had a hard time deciding between this or a larger full condo (such as 7202). For the difference in price I found this to a be a great place: The view from the unit is good (nice view of the ocean and surrounding mountains) and you can hear the ocean. The additional side window and privacy that this end unit has is a real bonus compared to other similar priced units. This 'studio' style unit (think of it as a master suite, not really a studio condo) was simple but had all we needed for a three night stay and we could have easily stayed longer. I found that the lack of a real kitchen wasn't much of a problem--the fridge and microwave did the job and there are enough dishes/utensiles. The bathroom sink worked just fine for washing them. To sum it up: Good: Ocean and mountain views Nice pool, great hot tub Sandy beach access Not crowded at all (Feb 4-7). We pretty much had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. Overall condo condition is good--real nice bed, tv, kitchenette area, etc. Room for improvement: The restaurant and bar are both closed (but they do have a BBQ during lunch hours at the pool) Porch furniture is a little worn out Red carpet is a little weird for me (but it was in nice condition) No bluray player (I happened to have some netflix blurays in my luggage) but there is a DVD player and a nice TV that folds out from the wall. The additional fees (room cleaning fee, resort fee, taxes) add significantly to the cost. I put in 3 star for service, only because the hefty cleaning fee only covers a 'move out' cleaning. So you are on your own for taking out the trash, cleaning dishes, making the bed, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful though.

The view is fantastic and the condo is just perfect for a couple that will be mostly dining out. The frig is small but good for soda and snacks. The bed is very comfortable and the tv is very nice to watch from the table or the bed.The climb to the parking lot is kind of rough at first but not bad after a few trips. If it remains a rough hike then call for a golf cart which usually arrive in short time so no real long waits. That is unless it is a day of checkouts and check ins. But very happy with the service over all. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are informative and eager to help. We had a lovely time. If you have any questions call Kristen Greene she is very responsive and quick to help. Aloha Trent

We chose 7201 for the location within the complex and the views. We were not disappointed. It was very quiet and people rarely walked by our lanai. It was very private at that end of the complex. No other lanais within view of ours. We had sunset views, mountain and ocean views. The gardens around our condo were very lush and green. We loved watching the birds come out in the morning. We were provided two new beach chairs. Check in was very easy and we were immediately taken to our room via golf cart with all our groceries and luggage. Whenever we called for a cart they were very speedy and friendly. The air conditioner worked well. Downsides included only a butler's kitchen. Although it had plates, bowls, knives, silverware and storage containers, if you want to eat meals in the room you must be a bit creative and not mind washing dishes in the bathroom sink. On a couple of occasions we had some noise coming through the door connecting the adjoining room, but it wasn't bad. We didn't mind the walk across the complex to get to the room or the beach, but someone who has any trouble walking a distance and any incline would find it difficult and would probably need to call for a cart each time they left or returned to the room. We found it great for several small work outs a day. All in all a nice condo in a great location on the northshore of Kauai. We would return, but might opt for the unit next door with the full kitchen.

Decent stay in Princeville for 5 nights! I think it's a good value, and what you see in the room pictures/description here is what you get. No surprises here. One thing to note about this room is that it is about the size of a large hotel room with a small terrace. It is really just 1 room (no living room and kitchen). The coffee/dining table and TV is about 10 feet from the bed. There is a fridge, microwave, and utensils in a little nook by the bathroom, but the space is small, so don't expect it to be bigger than what you see in the pictures... Unless you also rented 7202 which has an adjoining room door. We didn't mind the adjoining door, but I imagine this might be annoying if you had a loud neighbor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! It wasn't the best in the world, but it's definitely a good value. :)

I found this condo to be lovely, private, and very clean. Linens, towels, shampoo, etc are luxurious. The decor was very pretty, with lots of nice details. I was thrilled to hear and see the waves 24/7. There were Humpback Whales just offshore for three days, and I watched a Monk Seal come ashore one day! The kitchenette is very well stocked with dishes, utensils and appliances, and is as close as you can get to having a real kitchen without a stove. I found plenty of coffee filters and paper towels, sugar, creamer, tea, etc. as well as a four-day supply of coffee. (This is very unusual for rentals, in my experience.) The Islander has security on duty all the time, which was important to me as a woman traveling alone. The few complaints I have are things that are not under the owner's control. One is the front door. I'm rather petite, and I struggled with it because it's heavy and difficult to open and hold - too much tension in the self-closing mechanism. Also, no elevators. That was okay for me, but if you have trouble with stairs I can't recommend the Islander. All my dealings with aloha Condos were efficient, professional and friendly.

There was nothing to complain about our condo #250. It was exactly has specified and a few extras as well. The sheets were wonderful, the towels plentiful, the amenities amazing. Fun to meet all of the other guests at the bar-b-q in the evening as well. Only caveat were the disco boys who brought their version of music enjoyment on a boom box during pupu hour. The binder in the room brought us to some great restaurants that we would not have found from the Mermaids Cafe to Oasis for happy hour and live music. Hated to come home!
Manager response:
Aloha. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed condo #250. I appreciate you letting me know about the music at the pool, as I have addressed it with our hotel manager. Please dont hesitate to contact us during your stay if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. The condo looked exactly like the photos - very neat and clean with many special touches such as the island music CD, beach chairs, room safe and even a boogie board. The frig (no freezer), toaster and coffee maker enabled us to enjoy breakfast on our balcony every morning while watching the sun rise and listening to the waves. We especially appreciated the option for early check-in and late check-out given our flight schedules. We took advantage of the on-site laundry since we'd spent 10 days on the Big Island prior to our visit. The facilities were very clean and worked great. You are not close enough to walk downtown, but there are a few restaurants within walking distance. We would recommend Islander on the Beach Condo 250 to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax.

The kitchen although small had all the amenities that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the pool & hot tub everyday as well as a few drinks at the poolside bar. During our stay we were lucky enough to have K-13 (one of Kauai's monk seal population) come up on the beach for a nap right outside the condo. It was truly magical. Hopefully you will be as lucky. The free wi-fi was soo much nicer than having to go to the lobby to access the internet. At the end of the day, it was wonderful to lay down in the comfortable king sized bed with luxury linens, and listen to the waves all night long. The condo is set up with everything we needed, including beach towels for our snorkeling days, and low back chairs (especially handy for watching fireworks on the fourth of July). I was very impressed with all the extras, like high quality knives and cookware, a full spice cabinet, kitchen appliances, boogie boards and sand toys, guidebooks and dvds. It felt like the owners must have lived there themselves bec. they thought of everything and didn't skim on buying cheap kitchen stuff bec it was a rental. The island styled decor was so tasteful and home-y, down to every last detail; it felt like you were living in your own island luxury dream home. Hawaiian style was authentic and upscale, staying true to an island theme without being cheesy or touristy.

This unit was wonderful. We've stayed in a lot of rental and time share units and this condo was the best equipped of any we've come across. It had everything we needed in the kitchen and more, the linens were high quality, the things we needed for the beach -- chairs, boogie boards, beach bags, towels -- were all there, the TV and other electronics were high end (including a blue ray DVD and sound surround system), and the owners had even provided a great selection of new Dvd's for both families and kids, as well as island guide books. It was just fabulously comfortable for the six of us (four adults, two kids) and made a great home base and place to relax after a day in the sun. The only negative was a bit of traffic noise from the road because the unit is on the outside of the development. But this really only affected the master bedroom and everything else was so great we didn't mind the noise. We would definitely stay here again!

Manager response:
Thank you for your candid review. The homeowners have since replaced the rail system that had suffered from the constant salt and wind, and we have cleaned the drapes as well. The sofa and chairs will be steam cleaned November 8th. As for the comforter and blanket: both are brand new, so Im not sure why the suggestion was made they be replaced. I apologize for the roaches. They are one of the downsides of paradise. We keep bait traps in the units for them, but it is impossible to avoid them completely in the tropics. We can't stop thinking about our recent visit to Kauai and stay at the Islander Condo 225. It was perfect for our family. The place was absolutely what we needed. Every day we could chill at the end of our outings (snorkeling, boat/raft trip along Na'Pali coast, hiking, boogie boarding, etc.)and love where we were staying. Nice landscaping, great "open-air" lobby where we went to get our emails, etc. wood floors, ceiling fan, relaxing and pretty decor, great pool and hot tub, tiki torches at night, drinks by the pool, and best of all, our view--straight out to the ocean. Mornings breakfast on the balcony, sometimes dinner/take-out at night, too. The moon right there over the water, or a rainbow after a rain. There are loungers down by the water's edge, too. The kitchen is great, plates silverware, bowls, blender, s & p, coffee filters and machine, microwave, frig. We had breakfast at home and two dinners at home (Bbq's are by pool). The only suggestion would be to have one more place for towels to dry out during the day. There were four of us, and two towels/day, without any kind of maid/laundry because it's not a "hotel" in our unit. With us using towels at the pool and our own at the beach, one more hanging bar in the BR would be good. The beds are good (and I'm very picky), pillows perfect. I want to return here and stay at the same condo. Love it. This was the best vacation I've had in ages. Love Kauai, too. Not a single big city, the whole island is gorgeous.

We stayed here for four nights in March 2011. The location of the condo is perfect. It is just steps from the ocean and we left the patio doors open at night to listen to the waves. We had some excitement with a tsunami warning after the Japanese earthquake, but first Kristen let us know, and then someone from the management knocked on the door to let us know we should evacuate and explained where to go. The condo is about the size of a hotel room, but with the small kitchen and the balcony, there was more than enough room. There is a great restaurant within a very short walking distance, and the little town of Kapa'a is a short drive, is a charming small town, and has everything you need. Being on the eastern shore was the perfect location for us, as it was easy to drive to all other parts of the island, and was a quick drive to the airport the morning we left. All in all, I highly recommend this condo.

Manager response:
We are sorry you were not comfortable and wish we had known at the time.
This condo is absolute ocean front with wonderful tropical sea breezes when we have trade winds, however things in Hawaii get very humid when we have Kona conditions, which we have had the past few weeks, and that brings on dampness and mustiness very quickly. You really cant get closer to the ocean than this unit, so it is impossible to keep it absolutely dry.
That said, a brand new air conditioning system was installed a month ago which has a dehumidifier cycle as one of the key functions. We would have been happy to assist with the dampness issue had we known you were uncomfortable. The air conditioner manual is also in the condo.
I was in this unit yesterday and did not notice any mustiness, so I think recent use of the air conditioner and the return of the trade winds dried the unit out. I will examine the TV to see if the salt air has shortened its life span.

The condo was very clean and nicely furnished, the bed comfortable and the kitchenette was sufficient for the amount of eating in we did. The ocean front location was outstanding and convenient for nearby shops. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning and with a 2nd floor unit, felt secure leaving the door open at night for the fresh ocean air and sounds. The Bbqs and tables near the pool allowed us the opportunity to invite guests over with plenty of space. Having previously lived on Kauai for more than 10 years and running a service business, we have been in numerous rental properties and were pleased with Islander #225. We most definitely recommend this unit for location, comfort and price.

We spent 5 nights here with three generations -- grandparents, parents, and our 3-year-old and 4-year-old. Despite the pool being closed for renovations and the lobby and restaurant being closed following a fire this summer, we had a terrific time! The setting is gorgeous and the beach, while a bit of a walk away down a paved path (you can also take a very convenient golf cart "shuttle" to the beach and back), is beautiful and perfect for kids. We enjoyed exploring the Hanalei Bay area and beyond. The view from this unit is incredible, and the entire unit was impeccably clean, nicely decorated, and in excellent condition. Aloha Condos was very response to our needs and questions throughout our stay. A well managed, beautiful unit in an unbeatable location!

There were plenty of dishes, glasses, knives, pots and pans, and even an espresso maker. We expressed to each other on a regular basis that the condo was full of quality and made us feel welcomed by true friends because of how much generosity we felt. Kristin and the owner really do a top quality job.

We stayed on 3 islands while in Hawaii, and this was the best value by far. The condo(s) were nicely furnished, clean and perfect for our family. One unit had a King bed and bath. The larger unit had a King bedroom, bath, laundry, loft with 2 doubles with spiral staircase up to it and full kitchen with adjoining dining living space. Great view of Hanalei Bay from balconies. Sadly, a fire had just ruined the check in area and the Happy Talk lounge was not open, but lunch was available pool side if you desired.

We enjoyed our stay at Islander on the Beach. It's a beautiful setting on the beach and it's hard to beat the value. However, calling it a condo is misleading. It's really just a hotel room, and not a huge one. I've stayed at many hotels, mostly chain hotels, and had much larger "ordinary" hotel rooms than this was. It was clean and comfortable, but we didn't really have a place to put our suitcases. The closet was hard to use for clothes because it is used to store several items for use by the room guests (ironing board, boogie board, blankets, etc. A nice hotel room, just not a condo.

Ice chest for our trips to see other parts of the island. Plenty of space and couch/futon was handy. Bad parking situation, lot just not big enough. You MUST go to the lobby and window sticker to park overnight and avoid being towed. Location is great because you more or less in the middle of driveable island. Beach is nice buy not swimable. There are beach towels and mats for sun bathing and swimming inside the condo. Along the beach there are beach chairs provided by the Islander on the Beach! We loved sitting outside on the lanai to eat breakfast. We were very surprised that it has a partial ocean view! The condo looked very up to date. There are granite counter tops, stainless steel refrigerator, flat screen TV and we loved the Hawaiian decor! We went shopping at Costco when we arrived on the island. We ate lunch almost every day in the condo. The condo has gas BBQ's on property so we were able to BBQ one night! There is a little shopping mall across the parking lot. The Coconut Marketplace. They have a whole bunch of great shops for souvenirs. Make sure that you walk next door to the Beach Boy hotel and eat at the Hukilau Lanai for dinner. Their fish is very fresh and cooked to perfection! On our last day we were there when the Tsunami warning came. Kristin the property manager warned us at 5 am to get gas in our car and try to get an earlier flight out. We are very thankful that she warned us. She made us feel very well taken care. I would suggest this condo to everyone! Next time we go to Kauai we will stay in condo 271! Mahalo Kristin!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. It was basically the size of a hotel room with a kitchenette crammed in, but it worked well for the two of us...not sure I could handle it with 4 people there. The unit was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The ocean is visible from the lanai and it was nice to sit outside in the mornings and watch it or walk over and sit in the many chairs that were on the beach. It's right by the coconut marketplace and some of the best Shave Ice on the island (according to Kauai Revealed). Everything else in Kapaa is just a short drive away. One thing that was an issue was parking. There is not near enough parking for the units and if we got back any later than 6pm, we had to park on the road or in the parking lot next door. It wasn't a bad walk, but it was annoying when we got there the first night after dark and had to drive all over looking for parking. We didn't use the pool or other facilities, but they looked nice. Enjoy!

It's always a little nerve racking to book a room based on photos from thousands of miles away (Oklahoma) but this studio condo was perfect for our needs. The room was bright, clean and well decorated. The lanai opens to the beach and the pool, both which are just steps away. The bathroom is much larger than it appears in the photos. We arrived late in the evening (around 9pm) and had to unload our luggage at the curb and it felt as though we were putting the front desk folks out by asking them how to get to our unit. We received no assistance with a luggage cart as "they were locked up for the evening". I think is more the resorts issue and not who we rented the unit through and on another hand, front desk lady could have just been having a really bad day. The laundry room hours were a bit modest in my opinion, 8am - 10pm - no one wants to do their laundry during daylight hours while in Kauai! - Other than that, it was the perfect vacation. The other vacationers were pleasant, met a few at the designated smoking area and at the pool. We received a fantastic welcome bag on our door the first morning full of goodies, a very nice touch! Room was absolutely perfect. I couldn't have planned a better visit!

The condo was clean and the complex was well maintained. We liked being being located right on the beach, which although it is not the most popular beach area on the island, was still perfectly fine for us because it was uncrowded and quiet. We liked being able to take a long walk down the shoreline, which has some rocky areas that have small tidepools with sealife in them. We were also able to sit on the patio of the condo and have an ocean view when it was too windy to sit on the beach. The condo was tastefully decorated also. There were some places to eat and shop at within walking distance and it is located roughly halfway between the north and south areas of the island. There was only one annoying negative---the parking situation is poor, and gets worse the later you come back--after dark it just sucks.

You can make your coffee and walk out onto the ocean to enjoy it. Everything is simply right out from your lanai. Hiking is all but 5 to 10 min away. Great place, charming location, simple and easy. I dont think I wouldnt need a car if I can work out a few pick ups for the hiking trails. And get a pick up from the airport. Mary

It was a nice place, centrally located on the island of Kauai at Kapaa. There was limited parking however. It seemed that the bartender at the poolside bar at the Islander was kind of grumpy. Reasonably priced and clean. Kristin was kind enough to call us on the day of the tsunami, as we were supposed to arrive that day, and inform us of the warning.
A very good place to stay, steps from the beach.

We got the service we expected and needed. The home is perfect related to the price we payed. A coffeemaker was not available! That is a pitty. One of the best locations on the Island of Kauai direct near the Ocean and beach.Trees near the shoreline to sit in the shade if necessary. The best is the groundfloor level of the unit with a beautifull view on the shoreline from the Lanai. The waves come rolling to you! The area of the complex is nice to walk around and very quiet. Absolutly not any traffic noise at all!!! The surrounding area has also class. We go back sometime, but it takes 2 full days of travelling from our home in The Netherlands

We stayed for 11 nights in Condo 158 Oct/Nov. We got a really good value for the price. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. We really appreciated having the internet available as it made online bookings and "activity surfing" convenient and easy. Loved the closeness of the beach, the proximity to restarants, shopping etc. Recommendations: a couple of nice acrylic wine glasses, a cork screw, and a little bigger coffee machine for that Kauai coffee we love so much!! Thanks for the great place to stay!

The room was exactly like the pictures. I thought that the fridge had a freezer, so I was surprised that it didn't. I just assumed, so that was my error. we made breakfast and lunches in the room and ate out for dinners. It saved us money. We had plenty of towels and necessity supplies. One suggestion would be one King size bed instead of two double beds. It would give more room for maybe a built in countertop or full kitchen. We loved the internet access, very convienent. The Aloha staff (Kristen) was great, we called her several times for assistance with a broken lock and a lost key. she was very helpful and service oriented. she was great!!!!

Kristen from Aloha Condos was very helpful and accommodating. The unit was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great - just a few steps to the beach. You can see the ocean from the back porch. It took some time figuring out how to control the air conditioning - would have been helpful if there was an instruction sheet. We made use of the fridge and the microwave. Glad to have cups, dishwashing liquid, sponge, and paper towel available for our use. The bath towels were soft, just like from home. I did have a visitor in the shower one day...kind of freaked me out. There was a cockroach about 2" long on the shower curtain. I guess being on the first floor, gives the critters better access to the unit. We didn't have any problems parking, but, we did come back before 8 pm every night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Perfect, Clean and Affordable.

I booked online easily, and got a great rate. There were no surprises as the website had lots of pictures and videos. We were delighted with how clean the condo was. Nice linens. We had a microwave and fridge which saved us a lot of money - as did the free wireless in the room. The best part was being right on the beach. The trade winds are strong on the east side of the island and we enjoyed the tropical breezes blowing through the room. We could also walk to a lot of restaurants from Islander. The pool is cute, and has a poolside bar.

Wow! Where to begin? Brevity is the soul of wit, they say, so I say this - stay here. You will not regret it. The pictures do not come close to capturing the ocean view, and you will sleep to the sound of the surf all night long. There were supplies everywhere - from salt, ziplocks and sugar to shopping bags. You will feel welcome, you will feel relaxed, you will be pleased at the cleanliness, you will feel at home, you will be happy. I would move here. (Practically, I will note that if your family is physically larger than two adults and either one more adult or two children it'll be too small. It was perfect for our family of three.) We recently travled to Kauai (Nov 2011) and stayed for a week in #224. The room was exactly as pictured on their website and very clean. We were welcomed with a gift bag containing a box a chocolate covered macademia nuts, cookies, a tote bag and a couple of other things. It was waiting on the table for us in the room. The kitchen cupboard had a variety of things not usually found in a condo - storage baggies, tin foil, sugar, paper plates, etc. My husband loved starting each day on the lanai as the day awoke. The view is just awesome! The people who manage the room were so nice - within an hour of arriving, we had locked ourselves out of the room and someone had to come to let us back in. The lady who came was so nice about everything even though it had interrupted her evening. We enjoyed comraderie at the pool bar during happy hour a couple of afternoons. The grounds are well kept up and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort and this room in particular! - Joyce B.

We just returned from a week at Islander on the Beach Condo #224. I felt it was an incredible value for a beach front property. The room was clean and well furnished with a microwave, toaster oven, fridge and coffee maker, and kitchen necessities. Also included were beach chairs and a cooler bag. I loved sitting on the lanai or on the uncrowded beach (on property provided lounge chairs) reading. The only negative might be that the water is quite rough so children would probably not be able to ocean swim. But the pool with poolside bar was lovely and never crowded. The property was also conveniently located between the North Shore and Popiu Beach. I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to friends looking for a great Kauai value.

This was a pleasant stay at islander on the beach. In fact, it is not an appartment but an hotel room, thus more simple. But everything is there : tv, internet wifi, airco, kitchenette, large bathroom, beautiful view on the ocean. And everything for an affordable price. Kapaa is a good place to discover Kauai and a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around. Only one thing : the beach is not really attractive but you take your car and you go everywhere you want.

No problems communicating with them. Condo is closer to the ocean than it looks in photos! This studio has refrig., microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, utensils, plates, cups, coffee cups, wine glasses, for 4. Sharp knives, can opener, cutting board & wine opener. Iron, board & hair dryer. P. towels, t. tissue, dish soap, sponge, & toiletries. Towels are thick & soft. 2 beach/pool towels. The bed/linens were very comfortable. There is free wireless internet in this room! Sofa opens to full size bed & table w/2 chairs. Also a table w/2 chairs on the lanai. Bathroom is very good size w/a curved shower rod. The hot water was excellent! Stairs to 2nd floor not bad. Ice machine close by. Air conditioning was great, we cut it off 1/2 the time ast was not needed. This is not a resort with numerous amenities. We weren't looking for that. There is a pool, hot tub, gas grills, beach chairs, poolside bar. The beach is not a swimming beach though we did see people out there. Beach chairs are scattered along the beach area. There is a laundry on site. Parking is an issue at night, security assists you. We went to front desk for parking pass as instructed by security & got that w/no hassle, though we weren't checking in thru aston. Grounds are beautiful & well kept. It is quiet here. We saw a monk seal on the beach 1st morning here! Marketplace is across the parking lot w/restaurants & shops. Grocery stores, drug store, etc., are about a mile away, left side of the hwy. Wal-mart 15 minutes away in Lihue. Location was ideal for us. Is central to the island & made it easier to drive one day all the way north & one day all the way south. Be aware front desk not willing to help you w/anything as they only work w/those who rented through aston. If you are looking for a laid back place w/out posh amenities with great views at a great price, this is it!

We we arrived to the condo, it was easy to get in and no lines!! Just walked up to the door and that was it! My husband was amazed by the condo and the view. He didn't believe me when I told him how much it cost per night! We rented a jeep to go exploring and it is worth doing so. The condo was right in the middle of the island and very close to the airport, shopping and activities. We will be back every year. The rate was great and the view for the rate mad us feel rich! It was beach front alright. The coconut markplace had great food and was within walking distance. Recommend going to the store and getting drinks and food items. the condo have a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and a toaster oven. We saved a lot of money by cooking breakfast and lunches. Then we got to sit out on the patio, eat and listen to the ocean waves. The bathroom had a blow dryer too which was good because I left mine at home by mistake!!! All in all, this was the best vacation spot we could have ever planned on having!!! Thanks for the hospitality!!!

Mariah060 from Redwood City, CA on 04/15/2011 said:
This room is basically a hotel room being rented as a condo. It has two beds and a small table and 2 chairs. An interior connecting door to the "condo" next door allowed higher levels of noise than would normally be expected. The "kitchen" consists of a microwave and mini refrigerator located in a closet in the bathroom. There is a very early check-out time and an outrageous $90.00 cleaning fee to clean one room and a bathroom. The view from this property is very nice and the grounds of the property are pleasant and well maintained. However, next time we'll just rent a hotel, avoid the cleaning fee, and have a bit more reasonable check out time.
Manager response:
Dear Ferguson Family: As you must have noted by the pictures and videos, the facility that you rented is "a large studio" that consists of two double beds in a very large room with deck, bathroom, and dressing area. It also has a butler's closet so that the visitor can use a microwave, coffee pot, and toaster--to prepare snacks, not meals. To mention, the doors to the connecting condo are solid and
noise insulated and both parties have to stand directly next to them to hear any noise. The walls
between the condos are solid concrete, not allowing noise to penetrate. This "studio" is for one or two people, not a family. The size and amenities for this remodeled, clean, and well-situated studio are very inexpensive compared to any of the hotel rooms in the Princeville and Hanalei area and are a "real bargain".

No complaints except we could hear every word the people in the room next door (1205) were saying. It was like there wasn't even a wall between us. Their voices weren't muffled, they were loud and clear. And the people weren't yelling, just speaking in normal voices. We woke up most mornings listening to them talk. Other than that, the room was decent for the price and there's a nice view from lanai (although again, the same privacy issue from the people next door).
Manager response:
The inner doors between both units have been changed out to solid, soundproofed doors to eliminate this problem. The walls between units are solid concrete--eight inches thick. We are always making improvements to make the experience in our condominiums a wonderful one. Mahalo.....

We have two teenagers and one youngster and have stayed in Kauai a few other times, always in a hotel. This option has become crowded as they have grown. Everything you read and see about this place is true. We stopped by Costco and Foodland on the way in from the airport to stock up. We used the grill all but two nights. The kids had a wonderful time out in the pool. The condo is maybe 5-10 minutes from some of the greatest beaches on the North shore. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner out on the lanai. For what we received, this is by far the best value. My husband wakes very early and it was great for him to have additional space without waking the rest of us. The beds were very comfortable and the linens/towels were great quality. After finding alohacondos.com online and spending quite a bit of time comparing our options, we felt this was the very best choice. We felt as comfortable here as in our own home. I have already recommended the website to a few people and will continue to do so. If you don't mind saving money cooking your own meals, why would you stay in a hotel? For the time we spent here, we had everything we needed. The kids loved the snorkeling gear and boogie boards. Aside from the food, we did not need to purchase anything additional to enjoy our stay here. It was private and quiet and the residents were very nice. We come to Kauai every year and we have a found our new home away from home.

Condominium 1205 has been remodeled for the modern, up-to-date couple that wants to have a restful tropical vacation. The kitchen is more than adequate for almost all meals, and it is purposely designed so that this husband doesn't have an excuse not to take his wife out to dinner. It has a washer and dryer, MP3 player, flat screen TV, and other amenities for your enjoyment. The views and short walk to the most beautiful beach complete the picture.
P.S.: All the condominiums are privately owned; this is not a hotel, so a honeymoon upgrade is not available.

We spent five fantastic nights at this condo, located at the Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville. This 2nd floor condo is centrally located to the front desk, parking lot and main swimming pool. The unit was loaded with amenities. From a fully-stocked kitchenette to a large bathroom with no shortage of soaps, shampoos, towels, etc. There is even a stacked washer/dryer unit off of the bathroom (a huge plus). The king bed is very comfortable and the sleeping/living area also boasts a dresser, armoire, sofa, coffee table, 2-person dining table and a wall-mounted, flat-screen tv that pulls out and can be turned for viewing from either the seating area or the bed. The balcony/lanai is a good size, with a table and two chairs. The view of the lush courtyard with the mountains beyond Hanelei Bay is superb. There are plenty of birds and chickens around, and they are a joy to watch. We have stayed at the Hanelei Bay Resort on two other occasions ('04 and '06). This is the best condo we have found, with the best rates as well. Since all of the condos at this resort are now individually owned, you will find a variety of rates for the different units. Aloha Condos clearly has the best rates for their condos. The only downside to our stay is that some of the services at the resort have changed and/or been eliminated in recent years. Both the restaurant and bar are now closed. This is not a reflection on the condo itself, but it is a reality. The two main highlights of this particular resort are still there. These include the fabulous swimming pool. In my experience and opinion, it is the best pool in all of Hawaii. The other gem is Pu'u Poa Beach, located just below the resort. It's the closest thing to a private beach you will find on the island. If your Kauai vacation plans take you to the north shore, don't pass-up the opportunity to stay in condo #1205, Hibiscus at the Hanelei Bay Resort. You won't regret it.

Overall, it was a good experience. Communication prior to arrival was clear and helpful. Check-in was easy and the unit was as described. The unit was pretty clean. We found no bugs or lizards and no real dirt to speak of. We did need to wash all dishes before using them, they were clearly just rinsed. The small kitchenette was clean and stocked with any dishes, pans and utensils that one might need. The furnishings were fine and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The large flat screen TV was nice as was the view from the balcony- that was the best part. The mountains would take our breath away each time we looked out. I thought more care could have been taken to better clean the balcony. The following are suggestions to make future guest's stay a bit more comfortable: -provide hand soap for the bathroom (we bought some and left it there, our gift) -provide facial tissue -provide a towel for use in the kitchenette (we ended up using one of our hand towels) -provide a couple win glasses -get either lower chairs for the balcony or a higher table (you couldn't comfortable eat at the table, I think it was a mis-matched set.) -better soundproof the adjoining room, you could clearly hear conversation from other guests, light also came through the bottom of the door quite brightly (the door is a bit too short) Let me stress, these are minor things. I think this condo is a great value for the money and I would stay here again. The resort is nice and you have access to shared propane gas grills. The pool is beautiful, quiet and clean. The unit was very good. With a few tweaks, it could be great.

The air conditioning unit allows the user to program temperature, duration, direction, and start and stop times, or it can just be turned on or off with a chosen temperature. This allows our guests to have a multitude of choices with respect to the temperature of their environment.

Mini washer & drier was a nice surprise as was the king size bed. Plenty of dishes, cups & silverware. Nice TV. Good quality towels & linens. Pretty faucets. Very clean & quiet inside. Outdoor stairs are shallow & not bad to manage with luggage. Condo grounds were beautiful as was the pool & its landscaping. This condo is in a good location near parking & not far from front desk or pool. Price for unit was amazing & enabled us to visit Kauai. It would be most helpful to have a place to hang wet bathing suites & cloths on hangers. Even a portable hanging rack would be nice. Bathroom tub area could us more lighting. The sharp corners on the cupboards need sanding down, scrapped my hand on one. Washing machine drain isn't plumbed correctly causing it to back up drained water into the bathroom sink. Could be bad if someone put something in that sink. This unit was so nice & better than we expected for the price we paid. The porch view of the mountain was very pretty. Loved waking up to see it. The staff is most helpful & their Aloha spirit welcoming. We didn't like leaving the place! Thanks for making our stay possible & better than we expected.
A nice, affordable place to stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort, condo #1205, in Princeville from March 3 - 6, 2010. We booked our reservation through Kristen at Aloha Condos and were very impressed with her customer service and honest recommendations. The room was exactly as described- newly remodeled, clean, conveniently located, great view from balcony, washer/dryer and a small kitchenette. The only minor issue with the condo was a plumbing mishap that caused the bathroom sink to fill with water when the washer/dryer was in use. We reported the issue to Kristen and was informed the owner would be arranging for a repair at a later date. Hanalei Bay Resort had beautiful grounds and a nice swimming pool/hot tub. The poolside table and chairs seemed a bit run down but we weren't bothered by this since we spent most of our time exploring the nearby beaches. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone wanting a self-service style vacation at a laid back resort (we are in our mid-30's and prefer "do it yourself" vacations). We rarely came in contact with other guests at the resort and heard minimal noise from other parties. For dining in the area, make sure to check out Bubba's Burgers, Kalypso and Postcards Cafe. All in all, a great place to stay!

Could have used a couple more small face/hand towels since there was no W/D. Carpet smelled a little musty (most do in Hawaii/tropics). Lanai needed to be cleaned -Aloha Condo Mgr cleaned it quickly, needed iron & board & she delivered that as well. W/D room close to the area convenient & reasonable, needed tidying more often. Nice Aloha package with water, coffee, nuts & tote bag. View was beautiful of property front facing Hanalei bay, had glimpse of water, huge rainbow 6AM, pool no slides but nice size & not crowded. Happy talk loung was ok w/ nice view. Front desk courteous not knowledgable of instructing persons who is responsible for what (cleaning/maintenance. Refrigerator needs light bulb, sink needed fixing, cleaning of lanai, iron, etc.Despite how this may sound our stay was very good here and glad it was available. Will stay again. Fish from Dolfin Fish Mkt is excellent!

We stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort for our honeymoon in August 2009. The grounds and pool area were fantastic! We especially enjoyed being able to drink alcohol poolside. The room was average. Carpeting was old and worn and the bathroom sink faucet leaked. But the king size bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed having air conditioning. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

We spent a week here with my family and had an amazing trip. The condo is absolutely beautiful, with every amenity you could possibly want. It was great to have a full kitchen so that we could prepare healthy meals for ourselves. The beds were comfortable and I loved going out on the lanai's for early morning relaxation. We had occasion to contact the property manager a few times and she was wonderful to work with. The condo has several beach toys in the garage (boogie boards, some snorkel equipment, sand toys) which were very nice to have on hand. The only negative we could think of was that the pool in the condo complex has some pretty strict rules. It wasn't really a great place for kids to go. It was immaculate and a beautiful pool/hot tub, but every time we went to swim we were told we couldn't do what we were doing. Basically, the rules are no noise, no pool noodles, no rafts, no snorkels, etc. I think they should just put up a sign that says no kids because kids inevitably will make a little noise while swimming. The resident manager who drives around all day making sure people are following the rules in the complex could relax just a tad. My husband and I enjoyed the hot tub by ourselves, but our kids couldn't have any fun. I wouldn't decide against this condo based on that however, you don't really need a pool when you're this close to beautiful beaches! We can't wait to return to Kauai and our fabulous "Hawaii house" as the kids call it.

This condo had all the amenities of home. With extra goodies around every corner (beach mats, towels, some snorkel gear) and the kitchen was equipped to our liking (blenders, utensils, bowls, pans etc.). The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The decor was tastefully done. With our love of the beach, the washer and dryer was very handy to wash out the swimsuits and towels. We traveled around every ounce of the island and thought Princeville was by far the most beautiful. We were a little weary of everything being more expensive on the North shore, but to our surprise, it was very similar. There was one surprise, we left the screen open and a really fat cat called PT Cruiser that wondered in. He said his Hellos and was out the door. Just a neat experience all around. Much Mahalo for a wonderful much needed vacation. I would recommend this property to families, couples, etc. (*There were stairs, so not handicapped accessible and the bedrooms and 2 of the bathrooms were upstairs. Not a problem at all with our family...)

Unit 27a at Nihilani at Princeville is a clean, spacious, nearly new condo that comfortably could sleep 8 people. We were a party of 4 and never felt cramped or crowded. The townhome has a fully equipped, modern kitchen with top of the line appliances. The beds are comfortable and the living and dining room furniture are attractive and well-maintained. There is a flat screen tv in the living room hooked to cable and offering many channels. There is also cable internet access which is super fast. The unit is air conditioned, though we found that by making use of the screen doors and ceiling fans, we didn't need to use the electricity. There are 3 lanais, two upstairs and one downstairs with comfortable outdoor furniture for relaxation. The large washer and dryer upstairs was a godsend for towels and clothing. The unit came equipped with plenty of beach towels, boogie boards, beach mats, and assorted beach toys. There is even a high chair for a family with a small child. The unit is in the heart of the Princeville residential area, a mile from Foodland market and 10 minutes by car from the swimming beach at Hanalei. Queen's Bath and Hideaways Beach are a 20-30 minute hike for those who don't mind making their way down (and back up) the steep cliffs. There is also a black-bottom pool with a small waterfall on site. Only wish it had been open beyond 9 PM. All in all, a lovely condo and a great vacation and at very reasonable price!!

Note the Bbqs are shared at the pool, so go early to avoid a wait for grill space. Also, the pool is a short walk, but along the roadway. All considered, we were very pleased with our stay. This condo, 27a, at Nihilani, Princeville, was one of the most beautiful properties we have rented for vacation in the past 10 years. It was clean, located conveniently for us, and just a lovely Hawaiian vacation rental. We hiked and "beached" all day and came home to this immaculate, restful place for the evenings. We enjoyed reading on the patios and decks, having the convenience of the washer and dryer and making dinner over a glass of wine in the kitchen/bar area. The beds and linens were first class to collapse in at night. Having the garage made the car secure. Just a perfect haven for vacation!

We spent 3 weeks in December 2010 at 27a and found it most relaxing. Nihilani is an upscale condo community with mostly owners or long-term rentals. 27a feels like a home with quality appliances and furnishings and fine detail work in construction. Most pleasant and we did need the a/C at all, although it covers the entire unit if needed. Possible limitations: a walk to the pool making it too difficult to have a cookout (the two grills were inoperable when we were there); no workout-exercise room in complex; beach is a drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time in 27 A. It was beautifully furnished, felt very safe in a good neighbourhood. We really felt at home instantly and it was very relaxing. We spent only 5 nights but could have easily spent 2 weeks :-) Although it advertized only 2 full rooms, it had indeed 2 King size bed bedrooms plus a 3rd room with 2 single beds, so it can fit 6 very comfortably. Bathroom in the master bedroom is really. Good quality linen and towels, and even beach towels are supplied. There is a good HD TV with Hifi sound and a great selection of programs. The pool and jacuzzi are quiet and relaxing. The small shopping center at the entrance of Princeville is very convenient and has a few restaurants (e.g. C&J's Steak & Seafood). North of Kauai was one of our best places in Hawaii and it took minutes from 27A to reach beautiful sandy beaches, one different each time, Hanalei being very close with its shops and restaurants (less than 5 minutes). It took typically 40 minutes to drive to Lihue for the helicopter tour, and less that 1h30 minutes to drive to Waimea at the other end of the island. Princeville feels much greater than Waipuli or Poipu in my opinion, with great tropical vegetation and the moutain right behind. So, no doubt we enjoyed 27A ! ;-)

This year the family and I decided to visit the island of Kauai. I found this rental online. I was impressed with all of the positive reviews. The price was right and it was in a desirable area (Princeville). The complex is very close to Hanalei, which offers a great variety of restaurants and shops. The grocery store is also very close. Upon opening the front door of our unit we were very pleased. The unit was clean and well kept. Plenty of space for the kids. It felt like we were home. There were Hawaiian goodies on the kitchen island left for us (nice touch). The unit has everything a family needs to feel at home. Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, comfortable furniture, cable tv, and air conditioning. The garage even has beach chairs, beach mats and kids toys. Only a few minor things to consider. The bbq is out at the pool. We grilled a few times and had to bring our food back to the unit. The pool closes at 9pm and the HOa is strict about getting everyone out on time. Overall we had an excellent stay and hope to return very soon. I would highly recommend the Nihilani, unit 3a.

I have to say the unit was very nice on the inside but the rest of the complex was terrible. Parking is horrible, location of the unit was bad as we heard traffic noise until 2am every morning. The pool was suppose to be heated but it wasn't. The pool was so cold we actually had to use a pool in a different complex. We had the management jump down our throats regarding a car being parked in Vistor parking in front of the unit. He was so rude to my niece that nobody needs to be treated this way especially a vistor to the island. Overall Unit a+ Complex and Management F. After reading reviews from other people that have stayed in this complex they also have had siimilar run ins with your onside management. I seem to think this complex is mainly residents not majority rentals. I wouldn't stay in this complex again just due to the way we were treated.
Manager response:
Dear Guest, I am delighted you liked the unit and gave it an A+. I am also very sorry you had a difficult time with the onsite management. About 30% of the units at Nihilani are occupied by year-round residents, and we have appealed to the management company to be more lenient with the rules as the majority of people there are on vacation. I agree the parking is difficult at Nihilani, but each unit does come with a 2 car garage, so for the majority of guests parking is never an issue. The pool at Nihilani is not heated, and Im not sure where that might have been advertized online. I hope you will reconsider and stay with us again. Nihilani is one of the few new developments with central a/c and has a beautiful pool and BBQ area complete with restrooms and shaded areas. It is a great place for couples and families alike.

Most of the times pictures are a lot nicer than the actual thing when it comes to staying at a hotel or vacation rental, but this town-home exceeded our expectations. The home comes complete with everything you could possibly think of to make your stay one to remember. Boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, and so much more. The residence it self is in a very nice area, and in our opinion one it looked the nicest from the outside. Kristen was wonderful to work with by e-mail and equally as helpful when we called to ask about a trip we wanted to make. The only thing is that Princeville its self is at the north of the island so we spent a lot of time going one direction because we wanted to see things all over the island and you cant go very far to the west before the road ends. Otherwise i'm pretty sure we had the best deal in all of Princeville!

These items truly not bother us, but if you are looking for a few minor improvements...sheets on master bed were a bit large and slid some, sofa could stand to be cleaned, and slightly larger wastebaskets in the bathrooms would be helpful. Speaking of Kristen, the manager, she was very easy to work with, easy to get a hold of, and very accomodating. The townhouse community is in a good location. Close to all the beautiful north shore sights and beaches, without being TOO far north. It IS a bit of a drive to get down to the south shore and kapaa/lihue etc, but you get used to the driving. The grounds of the community are very pretty. The pool was a great spot to hang out when we couldn't swim in the river run-off water after huge rains ("brownwater"). The only small negative of this rental that I can think of is that a couple of the rooms are a little dark (family/living room and master bedroom). I think it's because the bulbs are low-watt florescents, and I can understand the desire to conserve energy and keep electricity costs down. Other than that, the place is perfect and I would definitely stay here again!

Kristen was super easy to work with. It made the trip that much better. First class service. I needed a late check-out and she made that work without a hitch. The home was beautiful, clean, and well furnished. It had all the amenities you'd want. The bed in the master bedroom was incredibly comfortable. Better than my bed at home. The garage was stocked full of beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and even a skimboard. Honestly couldn't ask for more. Even the neighbor was awesome. Some of you might be stoked to find out who it is. Location was great. Nice and quiet, the supermarket is close, Hanalei was right down the road. Will definitely stay here again without hesitation. Nothing that I didn't like about the house. The only inconvenience was the garage remote having to be pressed about a dozen times before it actually opened or closed. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with nothing to ever have to worry about.

My husband and I spent a glorious vacation week in this very beautiful townhome. It is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. We had everything we needed and more. It is very well maintained and very clean. It's a great place to take a walk. When the St. Regis opens in the fall 2009, it will be fun to walk there for a drink or meal. We loved the town of Hanalei...enjoyed many restaurants, a farmer's market and a Slack Key guitar concert at the community center. We loved the one lane bridges and the relaxed atmosphere of the north shore.

This was a beautiful Condo and had so much room. We stayed there with our daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson and son. Our grandson was a year old and they accomodated us with a bed for him. The kitchen was great and just begged to be cooked in. The grounds were fantastic. We enjoyed the pool area and enjoyed meeting the individuals who lived there year around and worked on the Island. We will go back to this location if we are able to make it to Kauai.

Our stay with Aloha Condos at Nihilani 3a were the pinnacle of our 1 week stay in Kauai. We walked in to a welcome basket, and had at available to us high end utensils, modern and clean accomodations, plush towels and beach towels, an awesome master bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower, toys, games, baby gear, beach gear -- even laundry soap! everything was thought of. It was like staying in a high end hotel, vs. a For Rent by Owner property. For a fraction of the cost we had 6 adults and one child stay comfortably! We enjoyed watching the rooster and his family of hens every morning, and making dinner for ourselves in the evening. The location is in a great location in Princeville, just a short drive from the Princeville shopping area, beautiful beaches and hiking trails, and, in the opposite direction, the Lighthouse. The condos are quiet, walkable, and I believe the newest development as of 2008 in Princeville. There is a small, private pool a short walk from the unit; my only wish is that the grill was not away from the property. We'll definitely be back again!

Great Unit - Exceeded Expectations

Denise B from San Francisco, CA on 09/08/2011 said:
I was slightly skeptical about this unit when I booked it because the price was so reasonable and I wasn't sure about staying on a murphy bed. However, I was so pleased with what I found. The pictures accurately represented the unit, and actually the unit seemed a bit bigger than shown. The murphy bed was comfortable - I was really surprised. I slept well and it was easy to put up and down. The living space was well laid out, comfortable (I napped on the couch twice in 4 days), and felt homey. The view from the lanai was beautiful and allowed me to see the beauty of Kauai from the unit. The kitchen was well stocked. I ate in and packed lunches and the kitchen had all the pots, tupperware, and gear you could want and need. The bathroom was a girl's dream. Large vanity area with drawers for my stuff and a separate room with the toilet and shower. The quickest way to the unit from the parking area is by passing the complex dumpsters, which is not pretty but frankly, I didn't care. And, if you didn't want to see dumpsters, you can go the long way. I didn't find this to be any sort of problem. Finally, the owners / management company were very responsive as I asked questions prior to and after booking. If I return, I would stay here again and if I come with my family, I would look into booking 1558 and the companion unit, 1557.

Any thoughts of a great resort quickly slide away as you are delivered to condo 1557. The golf cart takes you by the staff break alcove, the garbage dumpsters, the resort laundry, you name all those beautiful behind the scenes locals. This is the only way to get to Condo 1557 and the nearly 20 condos in this part of the "resort". Each day I would need to walk by all this to get to the parking area. I referred to several guests that I was staying in the "ghetto". On the flip side the condo was beautifully furnished and comfortable, although not very sound proof, I could hear the neighbors next door quite plainly. The whole complex was just that, a condo complex, not what I call a resort at all. You are totally on your own, no activities, no staff(except at the temporary desk as you arrive), no activities, no sundries store, etc etc.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and I apologize for the current state of Hanalei Bay Resort.
Yes, the resort is currently in a transition period following the fire in July 2011 that destroyed the roof of the main building at the resort The roof has been removed and most of the demolition is done and the rebuilding is now beginning.
The main pool and hot tub area are being resurfaced and is expected to be functioning again in late December 2011. The front desk, restaurant, lounge and support areas (like the sundry shop) are being redesigned and are expected to open again in 2013.
2012 will be a transitional year at the resort but it is still the best location in Princeville with a beautiful walk to the beach. My hope is that you'll come back after this transition to be pampered with Aloha and to see how wonderful this part of the world truly is.
Jim Dornfeld, Owner, Hanalei Bay Resort Condos 1557, 1558, 1557-58
PS: We will continue to update the Aloha Condos website with details on the progress. Our intent is to continue to be forthcoming to our guests as aways.

The Condo: After much online searching, we booked this condo for our honeymoon. This condo has an amazing view and the privacy on the lanai is second to none. We absolutely loved enjoying our morning coffee and breakfast on the lanai. A major bonus was the boogie boards and snorkel sets in the closet. They also had beach mats, tennis rackets and a few coolers. We really enjoyed our stay. However, it would have been better if the place was cleaner. The floor in the bathroom had hair in the corners and when we looked under the bed there was an empty water bottle and a wrapper of some sort. Also, the faucet in the bathroom was dripping when we arrived and progressively got worse over our stay to the point where it was no longer dripping but lightly running water. We don't like to waste water so we called the front desk and they promptly sent a maintenance crew out to fix it but they couldn't get a part for it so that was that. The Resort: The pool is absolutely beautiful. We didn't spend very much time at the pool because we were always at the beach, but a few times during our stay we lounged by the pool in the evening and then walked down to the beach to watch the sunset. The grounds are so lush and well kept and the walk to the beach isn't bad either. Some people got a ride from a golf cart but we elected to walk-the path is fairly steep in spots. The restaurant had burned down in July so there is no place to eat onsite. Because of the fire, the condo is only accessible through the employee parking lot and you have to walk past dumpsters and a maintenance office/garage. This wasn't ideal but not that big of a deal. Although you have to drive down a street with a bunch of speed bumps, we loved the location of this resort.

This place was a gem. We've stayed in Hanalei Bay Resort before, but this was less expensive, had a better view and a killer location - with quick access to the beach path and very close to parking (which is an issue if you are carrying groceries). The agents alohacondos.com, provided great service and their communication was excellent. The only drawback is that you share a lanai with the condo next door, but there are carefully placed plants so it's not really an issue. It also provided great views for my 2 year old son to do some chicken spotting. When we come back, we'll stay here again... for sure

Check-in was easy and quick. front desk gave us the room keys and had an attendant load up his golf cart with our belongings. He came to our room with everything (including all the groceries from Costco). The room was clean & neat & had all the ammenities seen on the video & pictures. The attached bedroom came in handy so extended family could have their own refrigerator, microwave & TV. The main room was large enough for cooking & dining for all 3. The view was clearly unobstructed from the Bali Hai view and coud see surfers daily in the water. The a/C takes a while to cool off room & there is no vent for cooking odors. Need to open doors for cross ventilation. The screen doors need maintenance. The W/D was large & ample & came w/soap & oxyclean detergent enough for 1 week. A slight musty odor from loft where king bed is located. There's Bbq'd food for purchase at the pool during lunch hours however no bfst or dinner cafe available. Location close enough to supermarket in Princeville w/reasonable prices & good selections. Haena state park & Tunnels beach only 30 min ride to north. The pool was adequate, pleanty of chairs & not crowded. Best overall: view, location, A/C, W/D, kitchen. On third floor -got a daily work out walking up & down.

We really enjoyed the condo and it exceeded our expectations, particularly given the value. The resort is great with a beautiful pool, access to the beach (wtih snorkeling / surfing) and extensive tennis options (courts, clinics, lessons, friendly people to play with). For the condo, having the kitchen was very helpful as the resort restaurant and bar are closed. The views are spectactular and the two floors of living makes the condo feel more like a house than a hotel room. While some of the fixtures are dated, they are nice, clean, and well attended. I am 6' 3" tall and didn't have a problem with the ceiling fan or slanted ceiling in the loft bedroom as did another reviewer. The mattress was also fine and comfortable different from the other reviewer's opinion. In terms of negatives, one does have to get used to the going up and down the stairs for the bathroom at night and the bedroom area could use a dresser. There was plenty of closet space throughout, but no dresser for clothing. (I'd recommend swapping the piano in the bedroom for drawers.) There is no elevator in the resort so while the top floor has the views, quiet, and space, you have to be ready to walk up and down the stairs. All in all, we had a great trip and really enjoyed our stay. Aloha Condos was prompt and courteous while also allowing us to check out late to maximize our time prior to the flight home.

This condo was perfect for us. We like to cook our own food so the kitchen was a bonus. There is a fresh fish market in Hanalei which we found early on that was spectauliar. The location was a bit remote which we also liked. Having the bed in the loft was a struggle as we are both tall so we needed to be conscious of the beams and the fan. The bed could use a new mattress, which I am sure could be a great expense in Hawaii. Kristen and the staff at Hanalei Bay were all very accommodating.

This simple but tastefully decorated and comfortable condo was the ideal accomodation for which to base ourselves while exploring Kauai. The kitchenette was ample and had everything we needed, the bed large and comfortable. The only shortcoming was the common doorway to the adjacent condo which was to enable a large family to use both units if needed, although entry was not possible between units during our stay we did experience quite audible conversations from the other guests next door, sometimes in the early hours of the morning. This might be easily fixed with a fitted peice of 'foam' insulation that could be left in the door space when not being used as a thoroughfare? Apart from that, it is a very comfortable unit that I would highly recommend to others. The staff at the Hanalei Bay Resort were excellent.

I would have looked at other properties if I had known of the stairs (especially) and the use fees for things I could not have used. We found the room clean and very nice although it is somewhat odd that one has to wash dishes in the bathroom as there is no sink in the kitchenette. I would recommend this place to others if the stairs didn't bother them, but would not (could not) rent this property again.

The location of the complex itself, and of this unit within the complex, are both excellent. Put it this way: a few of my favorite pictures from our week on Kauai were taken from the lanai of this unit! (mountain, ocean, and garden views) This unit is huge - the living/dining area has plenty of room to spread out without feeling cramped, and the bedroom is also quite large. The kitchen and bathroom are a decent size. I appreciated the "split" bathroom with the toilet/shower in its own room, so the sink/vanity/mirror could be used separately. Also, it was great to have a washer/dryer in the unit, which we used several times. The unit appears to have been recently remodeled, with very nice furnishings and appliances. The complex is great, convenient to lots of sights and activities, a nice walk (or shuttle ride) to the beach, with a beautiful main pool/spa, and wonderful lush gardens/grounds. We did not try the smaller pool, which is a shorter walk from the unit, because we just liked the size and naturalistic style (rocks, plants, waterfalls) of the main pool so much. All in all, a great stay and we'd be thrilled to stay here again.

This unit was a pleasant surprise! I stayed a week in Hanalei for a friend's wedding and it was really nice to stay somewhere that felt like home. It was great to have a full kitchen where we could cook and a great size living room & balcony where we could relax when we wanted to. This unit has a beautiful view which made the balcony even more pleasurable. Hanalei Bay Resort (HBR is what the locals refer to it as) is a great location on the North Shore. The two pools are really nice. It's a short walk down to a small beach and short car ride to other great beaches and fun adventure spots. There is a grocery store five minutes away as well. It was great that they had the cart service as well- you can call for a golf cart if you are in a hurry, have a lot of stuff to carry, or are dressed up in heels and don't feel like walking up to your car :) I am happy that I went this route instead of a hotel room at the St. Regis or the Westin. The HBR staff were very accomodating and had great tips and knowledge about the area. I have friends that live on the North Shore so I already had some inside tips of places to see and restaurants to eat at! (If you want a great, basic breakfast, check out "Wake Up Cafe")!

My husband and I frequent Kauai as we are moving there this summer. I used to live in Oahu, and know the in's and out's of what to expect when staying on an Island. I came across this studio and it looked like it would be the perfect fit for us and our 1 year old daughter. It was a small unit, only because there is a lot of un-necessary large furniture in the room. (The huge table and chairs) I think with some re-arranging of some furniture, the place will look and feel much bigger. They were so kind and left us a pack n play crib for our daughter to sleep in, and a high chair. It was perfect! The view was beautiful, the condo was fully stocked with everything we needed, and more. The staff at the resort were kind and very helpful. The pool was beautiful and a lot of fun and the jacuzzi was one of the most relaxing jacuzzis we have been in. The rides to and from the studio was very nice and was a god-send with groceries and a sleeping baby!! The BBQ guy by the pool was awesome and the food was yummy. Too bad there is not a bar, would make this place stellar. **My only complaint was that the studio could have been much cleaner. As soon as we walked in, we smelled mildew and a musty smell. We opened the sliding glass doors to get some air in, but it didn't help. It just didn't feel or smell like a freshly cleaned room. By the 3rd night, the smell was still there, and our 2 friends who came over for a BBQ commented on the smell. I couldn't handle it anymore, I went to market to get air fresheners! (Not cheap) We visited our friends' condo on the same property, and their room did not have this smell at all and felt a lot cleaner. Don't get me wrong, we loved staying here, and we will stay at Hanalei Bay Resort when we return, but whatever cleaning service is used on the condo, I would make sure they are doing 100 bucks worth of work as that is about how much we had to pay for a cleaning fee. A fresh, clean smell/feel would have made this a perfect stay!

As my wife and I were planning on backpacking the Kalalau Trail for 4 of our 9 days on Kauai, we wanted to stay on the North end of the island. We enjoy hangin' out in Hanalei and at Hanalei Bay as well. We found HBR #1525 to be a very unique value for a condo. It is a Studio setup but has a full kitchen. It is extremely comfortable and clean and up to date. All beach equipment is supplied, wonderful kitchen supplies. For the daily/weekly rate it is indeed a great find. The resort itself is also very nice. Great pool/jacuzzi area. Good service for what little is offered there right now. Our only real complaint about this particular condo was the lack of drawer space for clothes. Other than that, perfect in every way.
Manager response:
Aloha!
We will be purchasing new dresser drawers for this unit very soon!

The unit is very nice & the price is good, has a nice view of the forest, lots of birds close to the pool & jacuzzi. only minor drawback is the parking situation. We had to park in the loading dock/maintenance workers area. but this was no problem for us, some may not feel comfortable. there is other parking available but its a distance. the only other problem we encountered was the lack of lighting in the parking area & had to get help to find our unit (we arrived at 9 p.m.) however there is good enough lighting once you know the layout of the property & the paths are all lit up. Overall it was a great value for the quality of resort this unit is in, very beautiful. The unit itself was well stocked with everthing we needed for cooking & bathing etc. Bed was very comfortable TV was good w/ cable. remote control air conditioning was very convienent. early the next morning of our stay we found a nice little gift bag with candies/cookies beach bags etc. this made us feel welcome & appreciated. mahalo

The kitchen circuit breaker was out the first day/night until maintenance came the next day to reset (three times). After that, no problems. I believe they put an order to replace the resort's electrical circuit breaker. No refrigerator the first day/night. Ice cooler used so food was okay. Ice machine and BBQ grill is a walk farther than one would have liked. Very comfortable bed. Soft towels, Clean bathroom. Great Vizio flat screen TV. Beach chairs are very handy. Very clean except we had scout ants on the counter with no food and killed to roaches by the door. But bugs are part of Kaua'i I suppose. Kitchen items well supplied although we did not cook other than toast and coffee. Ac worked very well. But did not use much and ceiling fan on low was sufficient. Wished there was free internet. Recommend exterminator to rid ants and roaches.

My wife and I have been going to the north shore of Kauai for several years now and can't imagine a location more beautiful. You can tell this condo has recently been redone and has all the amenities (new carpet and furniture, big flat-screen tv w/ DVD, etc.). Pretty comfy bed too. The kitchen area isn't big, but is well equipped - we cooked at least a half-dozen meals in it and also took advantage of the outdoor bbq's the resort has. Kauai has so much delicious local fish and vegetables it's a pleasure to cook there. It often rains late at night and when you wake up this condo has a beautiful view of the mountains with waterfalls galore. There's a nice lanai (where we'd eat breakfast) that overlooks those mountains and a jungle/forest that has wild avocado trees, mango and chickens (we ate avocado and mango but not the chickens). I've stayed on the ocean side of the resort and while you may get an ocean view, it's so much quieter and more peaceful on the mountain side. Considering we spend most of our time on the beach, it's a real treat to come back to the condo and sit on that quiet lanai without another person in sight - and the stars at night! In short, wish I was still there and would recommend it to anyone.

Wow. In a place like Kauai where prices can run pretty high, this place was a great value. When I say "value", I do not mean that the place was good considering the price, I mean that the place was amazing, and the price was amazing. The kitchenette has almost anything you would need to cook while you are there. We brought some extra kitchen items unnecessarily because we were unsure of the situation, and ended up not needing them. The coffee machine has a timer, which is not a big deal, but it's nice to have especially on vacation. A nice gift basket was also left welcoming us to the island. The lanai with the table and two chairs is great. We would have coffee every morning out there, and watch the roosters and chickens downstairs. We also were able to see someone trim the two palm trees right outside the lanai. btw, when they trim the trees, you can really see the mountains in addition to the garden in the back. The garden view was great also, and birds would sit on the railing just feet from us as we ate breakfast. The bed is large and comfy, and the tv worked well and had good features (i.e. plugging an mp3 player into it via USB cord to play music). The bathroom is clean. The luggage stands at the end of the bed made a convenient place to access our bags without being in the way.

Very important - this unit comes equipped with a full kitchen! Many of the other studios/1 bedroom units say they have a "kitchenette" but only have a microwave or toaster and coffee maker. Unit 1525 has a stove, fridge, dishwasher, sink and a stocked kitchen. It also has a pull-out couch that our 3 year old was thrilled with. We found this lovely condo because our little family decided to extend our stay for an extra week and put out the a.p.b the night before. Aloha Condos was incredibly quick, friendly and accomodating in their response. And as a bonus - the value for unit 1525 was amazing! Very comfortable and nicely appointed. This unit is also close to the pool. Hanalei Bay Resort is our preferred condo/resort on the North Shore. Beautiful, mature grounds, excellent waterfall jacuzzi and lagoon pool (prefect for kids). I could go on and on. Thank you!

This rental is an exceptional value. First, it is air conditioned unlike other units, notable the Bali just across the street. All the amenities for a condo are available: a kitchen, a breadkfast nook, a dinning area, dishes, utensils, and a washer and dryer. And, it is very quiet. We owned a unit is Lanikai in Honolulu and rented it on Vrbo that had private access to the ocean. The unit in Kauai, 24C, compares well even without the ocean access and is a better value. For three nights in late February my family rented Townhome 24c and we very extremely satisfied with our experience. I was traveling with my wife, 13 month old daughter, and mother in-law. We enjoyed the large common areas and the individual bathrooms were a huge plus. Washer & dryer accommodations came in handy and multiple kitchen supplies allowed us to cook-up a feast and enjoy dinning on the balcony nightly. The swimming pool at Nihilani was superb and somewhat quiet which made it easier on my daughter and more relaxing for my wife. We enjoyed morning jogs and leisurely evening strolls on the nearby paved paths. Waling distance to the grocery store and a quick 10 minute drive to Hanalei beach made the location perfect.

After being told by all other places that we needed at 7 night minimum, we finally came across this condo. Chuck was awesome. I did however have reservations about why this one was not booked even after looking at the great photos online. However, once we got to Hanalei Bay Resort and into the condo, wow, it was totally awesome!! We had two rooms, 7307 and 7308. It was large enough for our family of 6, had a great view of the Bay, clean, furniture was fantastic. There was even bookie boards, snorkeling gear, chairs, and even a foam ice chest. Our whole family was very very happy with the condo and the resort. We would definitly go back there in a heart beat and recommend the condo and Hanalei Bay Resort to everyone.

Positives: This condo is large, has a very nice view of Bali Hai and the sunset every night, has a kind of cottage/cabin feel. Negatives: The one complaint about the staff, condo owner, or manager? (i'm not sure whose responsibility this would fall on) would be, we checked in early (which may have been part of the reason, but shouldn't have mattered) but our room definitely wasn't cleaned for a long time. If any they did the bare minimum. There was sand everywhere near the entrance, a dead 6" centipede behind the blinds, mirrors and windows had greasy hand and face marks, the balcony was definitely not swept, the netting above the bead had a lot of dust and dead bugs. We spent our entire first night there cleaning in order to feel comfortable staying there. So this definitely was not the good first impression we we're hoping for after staying in a beautiful new place in Maui the week prior. I would recommend it but make sure it's been cleaned properly, and complain if not. We never did because we could easily just clean it to meet our standards in the same amount of time. Hopefully this changes for future renters of this condo.
Manager response:
We are so sorry, and apologize for the huge inconvenience, but only wish you had called to report the problem. Maid services always check a unit and do a cleaning when the unit has been empty for a period prior to the new booking. Since the guests had checked in early, the maids subsequently did not disturb the guests.
Again, our apologies, and we have set safeguards in order to prevent this occurrence in the future.
Aloha,
Holly Laughlin, Owner, Hanalei Bay Resort, Condo 7307-08

We are sorry that the small pool and spa were not usable during your stay. They are now repaired and working. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We do hope you enjoyed the other large tropical pool at the resort with waterfalls.

I was worried about check in since we landed at 9pm and didn't get to Hanalei Bay Resort until after 10pm. Check in was easy and they even escorted us with our luggage via shuttle cart to our condo. The 2 bedroom condo was beautifully furnished and was very comfortable. The view from the lanai was incredible. The furnishings were luxurious and very spacious. We loved the big screen tv and comfortable couches in the living room and all the living spaces including the lanais. The view and connecting extra large lanais were the best. We could have used a 4th chair on the lanai for breakfast since we had 4 in our family. I wished the 2nd bedroom had 2 beds vs. king bed for my children. We also loved the lounge chairs on the lanai off of the main bedroom. My husband experienced a shoulder injury and could not sleep comfortably in the bed. He spent many hours dozing on the chair in the living room which he claimed was a life saver! The worst part was we were worried that we would run out of toilet paper (so an extra roll or 2 would be nice for our 9 day stay). The kitchen was well stocked and loved having coffee pot and blender. Nice of you to have extra paper towels, sponge, dish soap, coffee filters, sugar and all the critical essentials. Thank you for the welcome basket with coffee, cookies, water and macadamia nuts. To have coffee in the morning was essential especially since we were awakened by the roosters at 5am! We did finally adjust to the roosters but wish that they didn't control all of Kauai!

The bed was adequate and there was a small refrig, microwave, coffee machine and toaster for breakfasts or leftovers. The resort's restaurant, the Happy Talk Lounge, was actually really good and had decent prices for Hawaii. They had good entertainment there just about every night and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The pool at the resort is top of the line and Condo 4324 is really close to the pool and everything else, especially the beach. The beach area was perfect. You can snorkel right at beach, or go out a little bit to catch a wave on one of the calmer days. If you brought a bunch of stuff down and don't want to carry it back, no problem! There's a phone at the base of the trail that will call the front desk. They'll send a cart right on down to pick you up and take you wherever you want. Price wise--this met our needs. The resort itself is a bit run down and overgrown. Be prepared to walk to the unit; or ask for a ride on the golf cart--they were always happy to do this for us. I would recommend unit 4324 for two people! It met our needs just perfectly!

We LOVED our stay in Condo 4324 at the Hanalei Bay Resort. Great location, great views, very comfortable bed, nice to have a little fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster ... it was all good. We enjoyed eating breakfast on our lanai in the morning - the deck chairs are great. Kristen at Aloho Condos was very helpful, quick to respond to any inquiries we had, and even put a welcome basket in the condo for us. We had a wonderful week in Kauai and would highly recommend this condo.

This condo is just as pictured...beautiful. It was recently remodeled and is very clean. The bedding and mattress are comfortable and of high quality. I prefer a washable duvet/cover but would certainly stay here again. Although my husband and I didn't mind the hikes, I would caution those who have difficulty walking up and down steep and semi-steep pavement, as the entire resort is designed around the terrain to maximize views.

Excellent price in a fantastic spot on the island ... many sites and activities nearby. Room was in good condition and had a great view of the bay. My only complaint is that I would have liked the rental agency to be more consistent with responses to requests - sometimes they responded immediately while others I had to call again or send reminder emails.
Secluded paradise, quiant accomodations.

If you love the north side of the island and Hanalei town is your thing, than this is the place for you. A short walk from your room and you are on the most secluded beach...for now, until the St. Regis opens back up. Great views from the balcony and relaxed island decor make this an ideal room for two. Decent bathroom and plenty of room. The resort overall could use a place to dine and relax, ie bar, but you are so close to town with many options. Don't miss Bar Acuda, best place to dine! The pool and tennis courts are an extra bonus if you have time. Have stayed at this resort over 10 years ago, each room is unique and I will request this one again.
Perfect gem at an amazing rate!

I can't rave enough about this amazing condo at Hanalei Bay Resort. We also stayed at a nice bed and breakfast on the South Shore and at the Sheraton in Poipu but this was, by far, our favorite place. Kristen, at Aloha Condos was very organized about confirming dates, payment, and sending directions. There was a large welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, which left us feeling very appreciated. The room was beautifully decorated and furnished with an incredibly comfortable king sized bed, an impressive marble bathroom, plush rug, and a great view. There was just enough kitchen equipment to cover all out needs (eating breakfast in the room, storing and packing our own lunches, and reheating dinner leftovers). The resort itself is in the perfect spot for exploring the north side of Kauai (better than the south in my opinion), it has a great pool, and breathtaking views. The resort itself it about to undergo extensive renovation so it can only get better. We liked the room so much we wished we had spent out entire vacation here. I highly recommend it.

This condo was perfect for our honeymoon. The view of Hanalei Bay from our lanai was absolutely amazing and we ate breakfact every morning out there. The room was clean, large, and met all of our needs. There was even a mini-fridge and microwave so we could keep drinks and snacks in the room. We were totally fine with no frills like room service or daily maid service. It was worth the cheaper prices when compared to other nearby hotels (e.g., St. Regis Princeville Hotel which was next door). The hotel property was very quiet and so relaxing! An employee told us the hotel was 80% full, yet we rarely saw other guests. The pool was fine and we enjoyed the 5-7 minute walk to the beach (the path winds through the trees behind the hotel). Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We loved our room and when we return to Kauai we will certainly try to stay in this same condo at the HBR.

We liked the resort and pool even though the restaurant was closed. There was a really good lunch barbaque set up at the pool that was very reasonable priced and yummy food. The room was nicely furnished although smallish. It smelled a bit musty. For the price,$99.00 per night, it was a great value. They had a workable set up for a no kitchen unit with a closet that had coffee maker, microwave, toaster and some dishes. There was a dorm size refrigerator which allowed us to store wine and stuff for Mai Tai's and breakfast fixings. This is what we like and it was lovely having breakfast and drinks enjoying the beautiful view. The teak deck lounges were so comfortable you could take a nap. When the weather was good, it seemed perfect. When it rained hard and we couldn't get out so much, it seemed too small. I'd stay there again, especially if it wasn't the winter. We got very lucky and had mostly good weather.

The unit we stayed in was very well kept and appointed. That made up for the lack of restaurant and/or eating facilities on site. The pool was nice. It seems, however, like the grounds and exterior of buildings are not receiving as much attention as in the past.
Manager response:
Mahalo for your kind words about unit 4323/24. We work very hard to ensure the condo is clean, in good working order, and well stocked. We are just delighted you found it to be so, and that it made your vacation that much better. We do appreciate the feedback.
It is true that the resort is in a time of transition with the restaurants and management. The homeowners have recently secured new management and they are doing a great job of getting the resort back up to speed. The ownership of the restaurants is beyond our control, but please be assured the new management is working very hard at those things that are within their control and we expect the overall appearance of the resort to improve greatly in the near future. It is just a matter of time before the restaurants change hands and we can all enjoy that fantastic view from the main building once again.
In the meantime, the view from 4323/24 is just as beautiful particularly with a tropical drink in hand J

Having read about the differences between all the vacation condos at Hanalei Bay Resort, I knew I had to pick the exact one I wanted to insure great accommodations for my family. I found this one online. There were many photos and videos, so I knew exactly what I was getting for my money. The unit was exactly what I expected with a spectacular view and new updates. No bad surprises. It was also very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. We will certainly return to this unit to enjoy the quiet and the amazing view. We never got tired of that view!

We (family of five, three kids ages 18 - 24) recently returned from a most glorious vacation at Hanalei Bay Resort. The views were astonishing and ever-changing. The resort property reflected the lush and beautiful landscape of Kauai--the swimming pool like a tropical lagoon, the tennis courts artfully placed, the units tucked inside the hillsides, the beach just a short, but hilly, walk away. (For those who have difficulty walking hills, golf cart transportation was available at any time). Resort staff were very friendly and helpful. The unit itself was CLEAN and beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we needed, from dishes, cookware and ipod players to beach towels, laundry soap, boogie boards and zip- lock bags. The beds were extremely comfortable, providing us all with deep and restful sleeps. Every day we lingered over morning breakfasts and evening refreshers on the deck, soaking up the views, the sounds, and aromas of the tropical paradise. The resort's proximity to the charming town of Hanalei, to fantastic beaches, hiking, zip-line adventures, kayaking and dining made it a fabulous haven for those of us seeking adventure and relaxation. Our unit was very quiet--no one was staying immediately adjacent to our unit. But if they had been, I could see that deck conversations might not be totally private or quiet if adjacent units were booked. However, other residents seemed to be very friendly and respectful. Also, the resort restaurant was not up and running- --not a problem for us as we either cooked our own meals or ate at nearby restaurants. To conclude, we felt we had won the jackpot and definitely would return to this very same spot. We wish we could go back next week!
