What others are saying
This is a wonderful condo. I wish I lived here! You cannot get more ocean-front without being in the ocean. Our evenings were spent watching the sunset, looking at the stars and listening to the waves. We never ate out at night, we either cooked or got take-out as we couldn't imagine having a better view. There is a wet bar on the lanai, too, so that was nice! The floor plan is perfect. Spacious, with an open kitchen that was beautiful and has everything you could ever need. Large tile runs throughout the condo and keeps it nice and cool. The furnishings were very nice as well. The master bedroom is large with a very nice bathroom (awesome shower with 2 showerheads). The 2nd bedroom good-sized too. (There is also a pull-out bed in living room) It is a very quiet area, so with the windows open, you could hear the waves at night. Couple that with a very comfortable bed made for some of the best sleep we have ever had. We opted not to use the a/c, and with the windows and lanai open, there was a wonderful breeze. At night, it was cool and very comfortable. During the day, it was warm, but not bad at all. None of us minded, we weren't in Hawaii to be in a/c the whole time. The furnishings were very nice. There is a kid-friendly pool and adults-only pool on the property. As we only went to the kid-friendly one, I can tell you it was very nice and never crowded. The grounds were very well maintained. There is a grill very close to the condo as well. It really was perfect and it felt like you were coming home when you came back to the condo. The next time we come to the big island, we will stay here.

The stay at Kanaloa at Kona was remarkable. Suite 604 was very spacious and really really affortable. We were surprise when we walked into the room.It was nothing of what I expected the room to be, it is a very very beautiful room. The area in which this unit is located is perfect. The service we recieved couldn't be better. My family and I enjoyed being on the property more than being at their baseball tournament we flew up there for. In fact my children refused to leave on the day of check out. So I promised to take them back to stay in the same unit very soon. The shopping mall is convenient its located right across the street. If you're looking for a family oriented place to stay this is the place to be. I recommend everyone and anyone to stay at this condo. I Wouldn't change this stay for anything. We stayed at this complex years ago and found this unit online. The price was right and the unit very nice. The lanai was great. The May weather was great & w/ fans, no A/C was desired. There were some beach chairs and stuff to borrow & we left the boogie board we bought. The kitchen was well outfitted, although we brought a few sharp knives for cooking. If you kitchen clean with a cloth, not sponge, bring one with you. There's a coffee maker that needs #4 filters. They need a few more smaller acrylic glasses for pool/small kid use, but plastic cups can be bought at the store too. There's a nice gas bbq and grassy area with table/chairs not too far away for those eat-in days.
The tennis courts are in good shape. The pools are never busy, but the pool nazi leaves you in the dark without warning after posted hours.
There's no beach right there, but not too bad a drive. Washer/dryer is helpful for beach towels.
We'll be here next time we're in HI!

The condo is beautiful and spacious. Two couples stayed and enjoyed the amenities of the condo, resort and area. The condo was completly updated.
Our balcony had an unobtructed view of the ocean and sunsets. We saw dolphins 3 times!
The pool was clean and warm and was never crowded. Unfortunately the restaurant and bar next to the pool was not in service.
the area is quiet by only minutes away from the Kailua Kona.

My wife and I spent four nights in this beautiful condominium and had a great time. It is located right on the ocean and has a great lanai for viewing the setting sun. Our only complaint was we occasionally heard noise from upstairs and next door neighbors.

Our stay at this condo was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. There's nothing like getting up in the morning, making a cup of coffee, and sitting on the lanai relaxing to the sound of the surf and the sight of the ocean!
The condo was well-supplied, clean, and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, clean, and peaceful.
This was definitely the best place we've stayed at in our three trips to the islands. We're spoiled now!
The only thing that would have made our stay better was if the complex had a bar/restaurant. Still, the drive to town wasn't all that far.
We can't wait until we have the opportunity to return.

Our extended family of six enjoyed our stay in this property. However, those that stayed on the upper floor needed air conditioning to sleep. Except for the ceiling fan, there was now ventilation up there. We would highly recomment that some windows be added to the upper floor. Also, the stove only had two working burners while we were there. They were replaced as we were departing.
The facility was clean, attractive and inviting and we enjoyed having some water equipment available for our use. We especially liked having a washer and dryer in the condo. The views were wonderful and watching the golfers each morning was great fun.
If I were ever taking my entire family again, I would definitely choose this facility. The three bathrooms were a godsend for our group. And being able to spread out and not be on top of each other was wonderful.

We just returned home in April after staying in this nicely updated fully equipped upstairs unit overlooking the golf course. Surounded by tropical shrubs and trees the lanai is large and private and perfect for relaxing Scrabble games-and we played many! I don't think that we have ever been in unit where the kitchen is so fully equipped and it has all the beach gear that you could want. We felt very comfortable living here for almost a month. There is no AC but ceiling fans everywhere-even on the lanai- to give you a breeze. There are restaurants and a shopping center nearby including a movie theater. Or you can rent DVDs and watch them in the unit like we did. If you like to watch golfers play-you can. If you like to go to the pool-there are 3 to choose from. We would recommend this unit to anyone except those that require air conditioning.

This condo overlooks the fairway of the Kona Country club--always fun to see golfers going by. It's a short walk to the ocean--like 150yds--what more can you ask for.

After visiting the ?Big? island of Hawaii semi annually for many years
We discovered the perfect place to launch a Hawaiian vacation approximately six ?seven miles south of Kailua Kona ?Kanaloa at Kona?. It has been the ideal location to participate ( as spectators ) in a fourth Ironman Triathlon event held annually in October.
This trip required the renting of four separate units as this would be my wife?s last trip
after battling Ovarian cancer for many years. I needed a spacious unit as my daughter would require sufficient space for their family of 5 + their Au Pair. Aloha Condos web site accurately pictured the space & privacy of Unit 604
As luck would have it the Refrigerator decided to malfunction but the Owners representative had the problem resolved quickly.
I can?t say enough about the condominiums at Kanaloa at Kona. Each we have stayed
have met our needs to balance cost with accouterments, some with a breath-taking
view of the sea, others with the immaculacy maintained grounds & fairway. They are close to a modest shopping center so families can hit the grocery store or if cooking is not on the menu several reasonably priced restaurants are available.

If you're like us and don't need a beach at your front door but you still want the ocean views and fresh breezes, you'll love this condo. It has a great lanai with comfortable lounge chairs along with a table, so you can spend your entire time there and still have the great Hawaii experience.
But if you want to get out and explore and enjoy the attractions of the Big Island, this place is ideally located, just minutes away from Kona town with its great restaurants and many activities. You'll find this apartment to be just like home with its full sized appliances, comfortable beds and even a second lanai off the large bedroom.
The area affords convenient shopping, nearby golf courses and easy access to the major roads on the Big Island. Covered parking along with a large pool and clubhouse nearby makes this complex an ideal location for families and couples. The unit doesn't have air conditioning but it really doesn't need it because of the large windows, sliding doors and ceiling fans that circulate the cool ocean breeze. The unit and the complex itself is well maintained and clean and the full time gate attendant gives you a feeling of security. There is an on-site restaurant offering a gourmet Hawaiian dining experience and an opportunity to enjoy a gorgeous ocean sunset.

My husband and I stayed in unit 3601 for a week in December. Although it was just the two of us, we opted for this unit because of the view and proximity to water. It did not disappoint. The lanai was a perfect spot to watch the waves, and had us thinking we could go jump in the water. As it turns out, the waves break hard at this location, so it was not ideal for me as a beginner. But the beauty and sound were enjoyed throughout our stay.
This home is obviously loved, and the stocked kitchen was greatly appreciated. All the pots, pans, and accessories you could ask for, not to mention the spices, oils, etc. This resulted in us saving a bundle on dining out, and resdiscovering how much we enjoy preparing meals.
We enjoyed the free wireless internet, which, along with the books in the condo, allowed us to do some research each day to make sure we had our plans straight. It also allowed us to stay in touch with the folks back home.
The tile in the home is orignal, and is the only dated feature. By no means does it require replacement, but it does show the guests the period in which the condo was originally constructed.
We enjoyed the pools on site, especially the adult only pool, which we would escape to if too many kiddos were playing at the main pool. We did not order from the resturant/bar at the main pool. They were awaiting their liquor license, and were serving a limited menu.

Aloha Condos did nothing to make us feel welcomed. Our checkin instructions were not sent to us until we emailed and called several times before arriving. Once we got there we did not receive a welcome package, discribing the facilities, and no one at the front deck would help us because you are not a resort guest. "You're with Alohacondos, it's like a curse, no one will even talk to you. They wouldn't even let us have a map of the resort. When we called aloha condos about the information, we were told to look for a packet on the livingroom coffee table. I told them there was nothing on the table they said it should have been placed there but never provided the information. I would never rent from Aloha condos again.
The owners were nice, they came and turned on the air conditioner (which costs an extra $15.00 a day) if they hadn't done that Aloha Condo Service would have charged us an additional $25. to unlock the thermostat.
. Being right on the ocean was lovely. The pool and bar were enjoyable. The grounds were very nice. The apartment was adequate.
Having the second bedroom bathroom in the hallway was inconvenient and lacked privacy.
Dealing with Aloha Condos was very disheartening and total not in the Hawaiian spirit. DON"T GO ALOHA CONDOS
Manager response:
It’s unfortunate that our guest didn’t receive the information sent to them or contact us before their arrival saying that they didn’t know how to check-in to the condo.
The check-in instructions were emailed 30 days prior to arrival, with a follow up reminder one week before arrival. Included in these instructions were specific details with directions to the resort, how to register with the security guard at the resort entry, and how to find and access this beautiful, privately-owned condo. Gaining access doesn’t require using the Outrigger front desk as they only manage units in their rental pool.
The information guide was inadvertently placed on a shelf in the kitchen with other helpful guide books. These include appliance directions and menus from recommended restaurants and cookbooks. It is boldly labeled “Kanaloa Info”.
Aloha Condos does not charge the guests for necessary services, including unlocking a thermostat. Guests can, and do, call and receive prompt and courteous personal attention for any concern they may have.
The floor plan is clearly shown on the website. Guests often comment on how they enjoy the spacious size (1500+ sq ft) of this unit, including the conveniences offered by the layout, not to mention its beautiful location on the little bay.
This review is quite unique and a surprise to us. The owner met the tenants when he came to turn on the A/C control and once again, as they were leaving. Both of these encounters were very cordial and complimentary in nature, with no complaints expressed.
We feel very fortunate to have received more 900 FlipKey reviews and thousands of verbal complements on how Aloha Condos truly conveys to our guests the Aloha Spirit that makes Hawaii a wonderful place to be.

There are neat gekkos on the grounds, as well as a mongoose that I saw several times outside the window. Cool birds too--liked the saffron finches (they will come for bread crumbs on the railing). I think it is too rocky to swim right at the condo (did not try though)
We went snorkeling several times next to the Hawaiian Village Park (can't remember the name)-- it was spectacular with honu, spinner dolphins and loads of fishes. I thought that the snorkeling around Kona was better than Oahu or Kauaii (2007 trip). The kayak trip (Kona Boys surf shop rental) to the Captain Cook memorial is probably even better snorkeling fish-wise. The last day there I went snorkeling at Kona on a public beach and saw 6 turtles in about 45 minutes- (had to leave that day) it was way cool. We did not really find it until the last day, but there is a spot to rent kayaks right near the condo - take a left before you turn in to the development.

It ws a wonderful setting for our 40th Annaversary. The condo was absolutely beautiful and extremely well supplied throughout. The view of the ocean from the Lani was the greatest and the location and suroundings was really pleasent and very safe. I have recommended it to others and we hope to return some day.
Not for print: Unfortunately we were there when the tempuratures were high and the condo was too warm for me. Fortunately the cooler breeze in the evening allowed us to sleep. We did not go out to dinner because I could not apply makeup to sweaty skin. I would have paid more for airconditioning on a timer.
Also, I was not too happy to see that we had to drag our luggage up and down the stairs with no help of any kind of mechanical cart. We are both over 60 and it ws very hard for us. We unloaded most and carried it up out of the suitcase. some kind of a juggage cart would have helped. One could drag and the other could push.

Very nice condo, well appointed. patio with view of a par 3 hole on the
kona country club ocean course. waves could be heard crashing from
just below the condo. very quiet. several pools onsite. main clubhouse
had a computer one could use for a small fee; can't remember if they
had wifi or not, but as we didn't bring laptop with us didn't matter.
2 ok golf courses on the property. if we went back to kona would
certainly consider staying there again.

My husband and I can not thank the Abel family enough for such a fantastic vacation spot. The view from the lanai was incredible. We spent alot of time there. The unit was beautifully furnished and super clean. We loved walking around the grounds as well. It was just a beautiful place and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Kona. Again, we thank the Abel family for a great vacation.
A new home on the Big Island

When planning our trip to the Big Island my wife and I looked at review site after review site of different hotels on the island. We never found anything that was in our price range and actually had good reviews.
Then, while talking about the planning of our honeymoon at work, a co-worker told me about this condo and how nice the owners were. So, my wife and I checked out the pictures and were hooked. The master-shower is HUGE! One of the things that I never noticed was that there was a trail between the rocks on the beach and the golf course. You have to walk towards one of the pools (the one near the beach) to gain access to that trail. It's a nice place to take a stroll during the day/night. We were able to see some whales swimming up the coast on the first night of our stay (it was whale season).
One of the other things I didn't realize is that there is a restaurant in the actual complex. My wife and I had lunch there twice and really enjoyed it. I believe they close pretty early, so you want to at least just try to have breakfast or lunch. The restaurant is located near the path that you can take to get out onto the trail near the beach(the beach side pool).
The owners are great people to talk to and deal with. It feels almost like you're staying at a friend's home for the week(at least that's how long we stayed). I will be recommending this condo to anyone who wants to stay in a nice/quiet condo that overlooks the ocean.
I'm basically going to call this place my own home because I will stay here every time I go to the Big Island.

The condo was great, with a nice lanai and we ate out there in the AM and evenings. The view was also great, up the golf course, with the ocean close by and no obstructions to the sunset. We were able to walk up the golf course in the evenings and all was peaceful and tropical. The drawbacks are that we didn't want and didn't have air conditioning, but many of the neighbors did and the noise was disturbing at night with our windows open. Also, someone smoked in the condo below us and the smoke came into our place. The vog was a problem and most days were cloudy in Sept. by late morning and we has to go north of Kona to find sunshine. Once we figured that out, it wasnt a problem. We'd go there again. It was a nice place, but probably at a different time of year.
Great location and view.

Took Mum on her first trip to Hawaii, she loved this condo. It was spacious and comfortable, every amentity was provided. We loved sitting on the lanai watching the waves crash onto the rocks and double-bogie-plus holiday golf. The design of the condos are terrific - they are very private. We had a fabulous time, and hope to be back there soon.

Wow. We booked this wonderful "home away from home" in a quiet resort, through Aloha Condos. The owners are professional, friendly and very helpful with any questions. The condo looks just like the web photos and the view from the lanai really is fantastic! We got some great sunset video with the HD camera. One of the best things is that you get to park close to your condo in covered parking! Woo hoo! Not like at those resorts where you are miles away from your car and the items you left behind in it.
The condo has new appliances including a washer and dryer which come in very handy. The condo is perfect for a couple, but 1 or 2 kids could sleep on the murphy bed. I wasn't about to cook a thing, so we bought some great take-out to eat on the lanai for dinner a couple of times. There is a grocery store, decent pizza and Thai food, a movie theater and a drug store with 1 hour photo about a 5 minute drive away. The Keauhou Beach resort has a yummy breakfast buffet and snorkeling close by (although this reef is now being protected due to years of damage). Costco and Walmart are 20 minutes away. The condo offers comfy beach chairs, fluffy beach towels and a cooler for use at the beach along with three drawers full of a variety of books to read so you don't have to worry about any of that. In fact we had people at a local music event on the lawn of the "Palace" ask where we got our comfortable looking chairs! The HD TV screen was great for watching our videos and photos each night to recap the day! The owners also sent a lovely welcome basket which was a nice touch! The vog was not bad at all, so don't let tales of bad air quality scare you away from this island. I have terrible asthma and never had one problem. It did rain some, but hey...it's an island...If the sky looks a little cloudy, all you have to do is drive North to Hapuna Beach.
This is truly a "Big Island" that has it all! Kanaloa #1603 was the perfect place to return to at the end of each day.

We spent a wonderful week at this unit. The Lani
was our favorite spot, with the amazing view and wonderful sound of the ocean. The pictures on the website do not show how nice this unit really is. We had 4 adults and we were very comfotable staying here. We will stay here again, is very quiet and a good location. We also enjoyed the sunsets from the golf course and by one of the pool area's. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. E&C of Salem, OR

This condo offers both ocean and fairway views all at the same time. The lanai doors open fully and let the breezes in. The master bedroom has a nice soft king size bed and the master bath shower has room for 2 or more people. Shopping and restaurants are just around the corner. One of the best locations on Kona.

We stayed at Kanaloa for the first time on this trip. We have traveled to Kona several times and liked the pool and grounds lay out better here than at places we have stayed previously. This unit is very well represented in the pictures and description. The view from the lanai is just as you see it in the pictures. The kitchen is very well equiped and the unit's housekeeper does a spectacular job. We have been traveling to Hawaii for 30 years and I have to say that this unit is one of the best we have rented. We liked that the pool is ocean front and the golf course being so close gives you expansive views that you normally would not get from a unit that is not right on the ocean front. The unit may be a little hot in the warmer months since it does not have air conditioning. This was not an issue for us when we were there in late November and early December. We look forward to coming back here on our future trips to Kona and I have recommended it to my friends that are going to Kona.
