“ Beautiful place but there were lots of missing things that I assumed would be there. No oven, no freezer, no DVD player. The gym was totally inadequate for anything except yoga. I was also disappointed that there was no honeymoon upgrade as is standard with most hotels. Great views, nice pool, short walk to the beach, grocery store down the road with a redbox so on the whole not too bad. ”

“ Condominium 1205 has been remodeled for the modern, up-to-date couple that wants to have a restful tropical vacation. The kitchen is more than adequate for almost all meals, and it is purposely designed so that this husband doesn't have an excuse not to take his wife out to dinner. It has a washer and dryer, MP3 player, flat screen TV, and other amenities for your enjoyment. The views and short walk to the most beautiful beach complete the picture.
P.S.: All the condominiums are privately owned; this is not a hotel, so a honeymoon upgrade is not available. ”

“ We spent five fantastic nights at this condo, located at the Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville. This 2nd floor condo is centrally located to the front desk, parking lot and main swimming pool. The unit was loaded with amenities. From a fully-stocked kitchenette to a large bathroom with no shortage of soaps, shampoos, towels, etc. There is even a stacked washer/dryer unit off of the bathroom (a huge plus). The king bed is very comfortable and the sleeping/living area also boasts a dresser, armoire, sofa, coffee table, 2-person dining table and a wall-mounted, flat-screen tv that pulls out and can be turned for viewing from either the seating area or the bed. The balcony/lanai is a good size, with a table and two chairs. The view of the lush courtyard with the mountains beyond Hanelei Bay is superb. There are plenty of birds and chickens around, and they are a joy to watch. We have stayed at the Hanelei Bay Resort on two other occasions ('04 and '06). This is the best condo we have found, with the best rates as well. Since all of the condos at this resort are now individually owned, you will find a variety of rates for the different units. Aloha Condos clearly has the best rates for their condos. The only downside to our stay is that some of the services at the resort have changed and/or been eliminated in recent years. Both the restaurant and bar are now closed. This is not a reflection on the condo itself, but it is a reality. The two main highlights of this particular resort are still there. These include the fabulous swimming pool. In my experience and opinion, it is the best pool in all of Hawaii. The other gem is Pu'u Poa Beach, located just below the resort. It's the closest thing to a private beach you will find on the island. If your Kauai vacation plans take you to the north shore, don't pass-up the opportunity to stay in condo #1205, Hibiscus at the Hanelei Bay Resort. You won't regret it. ”

“ Overall, it was a good experience. Communication prior to arrival was clear and helpful. Check-in was easy and the unit was as described. The unit was pretty clean. We found no bugs or lizards and no real dirt to speak of. We did need to wash all dishes before using them, they were clearly just rinsed. The small kitchenette was clean and stocked with any dishes, pans and utensils that one might need. The furnishings were fine and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The large flat screen TV was nice as was the view from the balcony- that was the best part. The mountains would take our breath away each time we looked out. I thought more care could have been taken to better clean the balcony. The following are suggestions to make future guest's stay a bit more comfortable: -provide hand soap for the bathroom (we bought some and left it there, our gift) -provide facial tissue -provide a towel for use in the kitchenette (we ended up using one of our hand towels) -provide a couple win glasses -get either lower chairs for the balcony or a higher table (you couldn't comfortable eat at the table, I think it was a mis-matched set.) -better soundproof the adjoining room, you could clearly hear conversation from other guests, light also came through the bottom of the door quite brightly (the door is a bit too short) Let me stress, these are minor things. I think this condo is a great value for the money and I would stay here again. The resort is nice and you have access to shared propane gas grills. The pool is beautiful, quiet and clean. The unit was very good. With a few tweaks, it could be great. ”

The unit was close to the parking lot and had a great view of the Napali backdrop and resort grounds. We enjoyed the view from our lanai and often found ourselves taking in the morning air or afternoon view, just relaxing there. The washing machine really came in handy after our hike, where we got a bit muddy, so I really appreciated having the option to wash our clothes. The kitchen was useful too as we got some pineapple from the Foodland near the St. Regis. ”

“ we did find it abit difficult to locate off the road... there was not good signage... we actually missed it by a couple of miles and had to turn back. once we found the place,the resort was beautiful and well maintained. the condo itself was beautiful as well and spacious. we would definitely recommend it the only drawback was the soundproofing.. our condo was attached to the condo next door via adjoining doors.. we could hear very clearly the conversations held ,amongst other things....:) other than that, our stay was delightful.. ”

Outdoor stairs are shallow & not bad to manage with luggage. Condo grounds were beautiful as was the pool & its landscaping. This condo is in a good location near parking & not far from front desk or pool. Price for unit was amazing & enabled us to visit Kauai. It would be most helpful to have a place to hang wet bathing suites & cloths on hangers. Even a portable hanging rack would be nice. Bathroom tub area could us more lighting. The sharp corners on the cupboards need sanding down, scrapped my hand on one. Washing machine drain isn't plumbed correctly causing it to back up drained water into the bathroom sink. Could be bad if someone put something in that sink. This unit was so nice & better than we expected for the price we paid. The porch view of the mountain was very pretty. Loved waking up to see it. The staff is most helpful & their Aloha spirit welcoming. We didn't like leaving the place! Thanks for making our stay possible & better than we expected. ”

“ My husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort, condo #1205, in Princeville from March 3 - 6, 2010. We booked our reservation through Kristen at Aloha Condos and were very impressed with her customer service and honest recommendations. The room was exactly as described- newly remodeled, clean, conveniently located, great view from balcony, washer/dryer and a small kitchenette. The only minor issue with the condo was a plumbing mishap that caused the bathroom sink to fill with water when the washer/dryer was in use. We reported the issue to Kristen and was informed the owner would be arranging for a repair at a later date. Hanalei Bay Resort had beautiful grounds and a nice swimming pool/hot tub. The poolside table and chairs seemed a bit run down but we weren't bothered by this since we spent most of our time exploring the nearby beaches. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone wanting a self-service style vacation at a laid back resort (we are in our mid-30's and prefer "do it yourself" vacations). We rarely came in contact with other guests at the resort and heard minimal noise from other parties. For dining in the area, make sure to check out Bubba's Burgers, Kalypso and Postcards Cafe. All in all, a great place to stay! ”

Refrigerator needs light bulb, sink needed fixing,cleaning of lanai, iron, etc.Despite how this may sound our stay was very good here and glad it was available. Will stay again. This condo has easy access to the pool and parking lot and the view from the lanai is hard to beat. Amenities are essentially like a hotel room but there is a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and toaster so we were able to do some cooking for breakfast each morning. It's a steep hike back from the beach but the value of this place is incredibly hard to beat. Apparently the restaurant burned over the summer so it was not operational but there are plenty of great places nearby. Enjoy! ”

a hotel room sold as a condo

An interior connecting door to the "condo" next door allowed higher levels of noise than would normally be expected. The "kitchen" consists of a microwave and mini refrigerator located in a closet in the bathroom. There is a very early check-out time and an outrageous $90.00 cleaning fee to clean one room and a bathroom. The view from this property is very nice and the grounds of the property are pleasant and well maintained. However, next time we'll just rent a hotel, avoid the cleaning fee, and have a bit more reasonable check out time. ”

“ Dear Ferguson Family: As you must have noted by the pictures and videos, the facility that you rented is "a large studio" that consists of two double beds in a very large room with deck, bathroom, and dressing area. It also has a butler's closet so that the visitor can use a microwave, coffee pot, and toaster--to prepare snacks, not meals. To mention, the doors to the connecting condo are solid and
noise insulated and both parties have to stand directly next to them to hear any noise. The walls
between the condos are solid concrete, not allowing noise to penetrate. This "studio" is for one or two people, not a family. The size and amenities for this remodeled, clean, and well-situated studio are very inexpensive compared to any of the hotel rooms in the Princeville and Hanalei area and are a "real bargain".

Their voices weren't muffled, they were loud and clear. And the people weren't yelling, just speaking in normal voices. We woke up most mornings listening to them talk. Other than that, the room was decent for the price and there's a nice view from lanai (although again, the same privacy issue from the people next door). ”

Everything we needed was provided and it really felt like a home-base. The pool and hot tub never seemed crowded and were awesome to look forward to at the end of a days' exploration around the island. We loved the Foodland at Princeville and really appreciated the "locals card" we received with our condo key. They did decide to cut the jungle down on day 2 of our stay to increase the view and our daughter was sad to see the forest go, but we understand there's never a good time to do these things. It didn't deter the birds from visiting us on the lanai each morning. I have been missing coffee on the lanai every day since returning! Thanks also for the gifts upon arrival - that was a lovely surprise. We used the beach bag every day on the trip! ”

Steps away from paradise

“ My husband and I frequent Kauai as we are moving there this summer. I used to live in Oahu, and know the in's and out's of what to expect when staying on an Island. I came across this studio and it looked like it would be the perfect fit for us and our 1 year old daughter. It was a small unit, only because there is a lot of un-necessary large furniture in the room. (The huge table and chairs) I think with some re-arranging of some furniture, the place will look and feel much bigger. They were so kind and left us a pack n play crib for our daughter to sleep in, and a high chair. It was perfect! The view was beautiful, the condo was fully stocked with everything we needed, and more. The staff at the resort were kind and very helpful. The pool was beautiful and a lot of fun and the jacuzzi was one of the most relaxing jacuzzis we have been in. The rides to and from the studio was very nice and was a god-send with groceries and a sleeping baby!! The BBQ guy by the pool was awesome and the food was yummy. Too bad there is not a bar, would make this place stellar. **My only complaint was that the studio could have been much cleaner. As soon as we walked in, we smelled mildew and a musty smell. We opened the sliding glass doors to get some air in, but it didn't help. It just didn't feel or smell like a freshly cleaned room. By the 3rd night, the smell was still there, and our 2 friends who came over for a BBQ commented on the smell. I couldn't handle it anymore, I went to market to get air fresheners! (Not cheap) We visited our friends' condo on the same property, and their room did not have this smell at all and felt a lot cleaner. Don't get me wrong, we loved staying here, and we will stay at Hanalei Bay Resort when we return, but whatever cleaning service is used on the condo, I would make sure they are doing 100 bucks worth of work as that is about how much we had to pay for a cleaning fee. A fresh, clean smell/feel would have made this a perfect stay! ”

A great Value on the North Side

“ As my wife and I were planning on backpacking the Kalalau Trail for 4 of our 9 days on Kauai, we wanted to stay on the North end of the island. We enjoy hangin' out in Hanalei and at Hanalei Bay as well. We found HBR #1525 to be a very unique value for a condo. It is a Studio setup but has a full kitchen. It is extremely comfortable and clean and up to date. All beach equipment is supplied, wonderful kitchen supplies. For the daily/weekly rate it is indeed a great find. The resort itself is also very nice. Great pool/jacuzzi area. Good service for what little is offered there right now. Our only real complaint about this particular condo was the lack of drawer space for clothes. Other than that, perfect in every way. ”

We had to park in the loading dock/maintenance workers area. but this was no problem for us, some may not feel comfortable. there is other parking available but its a distance. the only other problem we encountered was the lack of lighting in the parking area & had to get help to find our unit (we arrived at 9 p.m.) however there is good enough lighting once you know the layout of the property & the paths are all lit up. Overall it was a great value for the quality of resort this unit is in, very beautiful. The unit itself was well stocked with everthing we needed for cooking & bathing etc. Bed was very comfortable TV was good w/ cable. remote control air conditioning was very convienent. early the next morning of our stay we found a nice little gift bag with candies/cookies beach bags etc. this made us feel welcome & appreciated. mahalo ”

“ The kitchen circuit breaker was out the first day/night until maintenance came the next day to reset (three times). After that, no problems. I believe they put an order to replace the resort's electrical circuit breaker. No refrigerator the first day/night. Ice cooler used so food was okay. Ice machine and BBQ grill is a walk farther than one would have liked. Very comfortable bed. Soft towels, Clean bathroom. Great Vizio flat screen TV. Beach chairs are very handy. Very clean except we had scout ants on the counter with no food and killed to roaches by the door. But bugs are part of Kaua'i I suppose. Kitchen items well supplied although we did not cook other than toast and coffee. Ac worked very well. But did not use much and ceiling fan on low was sufficient. Wished there was free internet. Recommend exterminator to rid ants and roaches. ”

Condo in paradise

“ My wife and I have been going to the north shore of Kauai for several years now and can't imagine a location more beautiful. You can tell this condo has recently been redone and has all the amenities (new carpet and furniture, big flat-screen tv w/ DVD, etc.). Pretty comfy bed too. The kitchen area isn't big, but is well equipped - we cooked at least a half-dozen meals in it and also took advantage of the outdoor bbq's the resort has. Kauai has so much delicious local fish and vegetables it's a pleasure to cook there. It often rains late at night and when you wake up this condo has a beautiful view of the mountains with waterfalls galore. There's a nice lanai (where we'd eat breakfast) that overlooks those mountains and a jungle/forest that has wild avocado trees, mango and chickens (we ate avocado and mango but not the chickens). I've stayed on the ocean side of the resort and while you may get an ocean view, it's so much quieter and more peaceful on the mountain side. Considering we spend most of our time on the beach, it's a real treat to come back to the condo and sit on that quiet lanai without another person in sight - and the stars at night! In short, wish I was still there and would recommend it to anyone. ”

This condo has everything you need for a great honeymoon!

“ Wow. In a place like Kauai where prices can run pretty high, this place was a great value. When I say "value", I do not mean that the place was good considering the price, I mean that the place was amazing, and the price was amazing. The kitchenette has almost anything you would need to cook while you are there. We brought some extra kitchen items unnecessarily because we were unsure of the situation, and ended up not needing them. The coffee machine has a timer, which is not a big deal, but it's nice to have especially on vacation. A nice gift basket was also left welcoming us to the island. The lanai with the table and two chairs is great. We would have coffee every morning out there, and watch the roosters and chickens downstairs. We also were able to see someone trim the two palm trees right outside the lanai. btw, when they trim the trees, you can really see the mountains in addition to the garden in the back. The garden view was great also, and birds would sit on the railing just feet from us as we ate breakfast. The bed is large and comfy, and the tv worked well and had good features (i.e. plugging an mp3 player into it via USB cord to play music).The bathroom is clean. The luggage stands at the end of the bed made a convenient place to access our bags without being in the way. ”

“ Very important - this unit comes equipped with a full kitchen! Many of the other studios/1 bedroom units say they have a "kitchenette" but only have a microwave or toaster and coffee maker. Unit 1525 has a stove, fridge, dishwasher, sink and a stocked kitchen. It also has a pull-out couch that our 3 year old was thrilled with. We found this lovely condo because our little family decided to extend our stay for an extra week and put out the a.p.b the night before. Aloha Condos was incredibly quick, friendly and accomodating in their response. And as a bonus - the value for unit 1525 was amazing! Very comfortable and nicely appointed. This unit is also close to the pool. Hanalei Bay Resort is our preferred condo/resort on the North Shore. Beautiful, mature grounds, excellent waterfall jacuzzi and lagoon pool (prefect for kids). I could go on and on. Thank you! ”

A really nice place to base yourself on kauai

The kitchenette was ample and had everything we needed, the bed large and comfortable. The only shortcoming was the common doorway to the adjacent condo which was to enable a large family to use both units if needed, although entry was not possible between units during our stay we did experience quite audible conversations from the other guests next door, sometimes in the early hours of the morning. This might be easily fixed with a fitted peice of 'foam' insulation that could be left in the door space when not being used as a thoroughfare? Apart from that, it is a very comfortable unit that I would highly recommend to others. The staff at the Hanalei Bay Resort were excellent. ”

Because I am slightly disabled,the stairs were very difficult for me and I was unable to use any of the resort amenities for which we paid a daily use fee. I would have looked at other properties if I had known of the stairs (especially) and the use fees for things I could not have used. We found the room clean and very nice although it is somewhat odd that one has to wash dishes in the bathroom as there is no sink in the kitchenette. I would recommend this place to others if the stairs didn't bother them, but would not (could not) rent this property again. ”

Don't be fooled

“ Any thoughts of a great resort quickly slide away as you are delivered to condo 1557. The golf cart takes you by the staff break alcove, the garbage dumpsters, the resort laundry, you name all those beautiful behind the scenes locals. This is the only way to get to Condo 1557 and the nearly 20 condos in this part of the "resort". Each day I would need to walk by all this to get to the parking area. I referred to several guests that I was staying in the "ghetto". On the flip side the condo was beautifully furnished and comfortable, although not very sound proof, I could hear the neighbors next door quite plainly. The whole complex was just that, a condo complex, not what I call a resort at all. You are totally on your own, no activities, no staff(except at the temporary desk as you arrive), no activities, no sundries store, etc etc. ”

“ UPDATE March 17, 2011: The path to the pool from the condo has been redone and is again open. The maintenance area has been remodeled and the dumpsters are now kept behind gates. The pool and surrounding area have been completely resurfaced and are working great! The restaurant and lounge won't likely be open until 2013 or later.

Yes, the resort is currently in a transition period following the fire in July 2011 that destroyed the roof of the main building at the resort The roof has been removed and most of the demolition is done and the rebuilding is now beginning.

The main pool and hot tub area are being resurfaced and is expected to be functioning again in late December 2011. The front desk, restaurant, lounge and support areas (like the sundry shop) are being redesigned and are expected to open again in 2013.

2012 will be a transitional year at the resort but it is still the best location in Princeville with a beautiful walk to the beach. My hope is that you'll come back after this transition to be pampered with Aloha and to see how wonderful this part of the world truly is.

Easily a 4+ Star Condo if it Was Cleaner

We absolutely loved enjoying our morning coffee and breakfast on the lanai. A major bonus was the boogie boards and snorkel sets in the closet. They also had beach mats, tennis rackets and a few coolers. We really enjoyed our stay. However, it would have been better if the place was cleaner. The floor in the bathroom had hair in the corners and when we looked under the bed there was an empty water bottle and a wrapper of some sort. Also, the faucet in the bathroom was dripping when we arrived and progressively got worse over our stay to the point where it was no longer dripping but lightly running water. We don't like to waste water so we called the front desk and they promptly sent a maintenance crew out to fix it but they couldn't get a part for it so that was that. The Resort: The pool is absolutely beautiful. We didn't spend very much time at the pool because we were always at the beach, but a few times during our stay we lounged by the pool in the evening and then walked down to the beach to watch the sunset. The grounds are so lush and well kept and the walk to the beach isn't bad either. Some people got a ride from a golf cart but we elected to walk-the path is fairly steep in spots. The restaurant had burned down in July so there is no place to eat onsite. Because of the fire, the condo is only accessible through the employee parking lot and you have to walk past dumpsters and a maintenance office/garage. This wasn't ideal but not that big of a deal. Although you have to drive down a street with a bunch of speed bumps, we loved the location of this resort. ”

“ My sincere apologies for the cleaning issues that you experienced on your honeymoon. Remedies were put in place after receiving your review (I wish that you had contacted us during your stay - I live 15 minutes away) and we will continue to check to ensure that my condo is presented in a clean and well maintained state to all of our guests.

Although we appreciate that the front desk can respond to maintenance issues inside of the condo (they are a great group of persons with aloha), we prefer that you contact me or my local staff via the information provided in your check-in materials and posted inside of my condo whenever there are issues that need attention inside of the condo.

Unfortunately the fire in July 2011 was still being cleaned up during your honeymoon and it's too bad about the timing. We were very fortunately that nobody was injured. As of March 2012 you can again reach the condo via the path to and from the pool. If guests choose to walk past the dumpsters and maintenance offices, they have been remodeled and hidden along with removal of vegetation that now makes it a much more pleasant stroll.

“ I was slightly skeptical about this unit when I booked it because the price was so reasonable and I wasn't sure about staying on a murphy bed. However, I was so pleased with what I found. The pictures accurately represented the unit, and actually the unit seemed a bit bigger than shown. The murphy bed was comfortable - I was really surprised. I slept well and it was easy to put up and down. The living space was well laid out, comfortable (I napped on the couch twice in 4 days), and felt homey. The view from the lanai was beautiful and allowed me to see the beauty of Kauai from the unit. The kitchen was well stocked. I ate in and packed lunches and the kitchen had all the pots, tupperware, and gear you could want and need. The bathroom was a girl's dream. Large vanity area with drawers for my stuff and a separate room with the toilet and shower. The quickest way to the unit from the parking area is by passing the complex dumpsters, which is not pretty but frankly, I didn't care. And, if you didn't want to see dumpsters, you can go the long way. I didn't find this to be any sort of problem. Finally, the owners / management company were very responsive as I asked questions prior to and after booking. If I return, I would stay here again and if I come with my family, I would look into booking 1558 and the companion unit, 1557. ”

Beach chairs, snorkeling gear, coffee maker, fridge, microwave were all included. There were also many books in the condo including an ultimate Kauai guidebook. I would stay here again the view was awesome and we had a very good time. It does rain a little bit more on the north shore but usually a quick passing shower that will not ruin your trip at all. From the patio there are great views of lumahai beach and Hanalei bay. All I can say is can't wait to go back!! ”

“ This unit has a beautiful view! We enjoyed having coffee on the lanai each morning and watching the surfers. The fridge and coffee maker were handy so we didn't ever leave for breakfast. The location is great and we had just a short walk to the beach. The bed was comfortable. When we found ants in our bathroom and made a call, the problem was quickly taken care of. The T.V. had a weird glitch and would alternate from dark to light. The unit was a bit outdated and due to the high ceilings, there were some cob webs that hadn't been attended to. All in all, for the price this was a fantastic deal with a view to last a lifetime. Thanks for making our trip a wonderful one! ”

Comfortable, afordable room, not a great location.

The hotel pool was huge and beautifully landscaped with waterfalls and plants. Cons: The resort is located in the middle of what seems to be a massive golf community a little bit of a drive from Hanalai Bay, beaches, forests, restaurants, and anything resembling natural or authentic Hawaii. I could go to a rich suburb of my own town to stay in a similar area to this golfing community. If you don't mind driving a ways through all the condos and golf courses to get to the more scenic/natural areas then it's great. Also, cancellation policies seem extremely strict. ”

“ I hope you were able to enjoy the view from the 3303 lanai; the panoramic view of Hanalei Bay and the Makana Mountain Ridge, also know as Bali Hai, the beautiful Hawaiian foliage and the glorious colors of the sunset evenings. Also the paved path in front of the unit which is a seven minute walk (by request can be a complimentary golf cart shuttle) to the top rated white sand beach, Puu Poa Beach where you will find reef protected swimming and snorkeling. Next to the beach is the St. Regis pool side restaurant open to the public for your dinning delights.

I hope you did not miss John's Hanalei Bay Resort poolside fare open in the middle of the day. John is a native Hawaiian who loves to cook "local" short order fare and, "talk story." And the price is right.

If you had time to walk the resort's 17 + tropical acres you would have found native plantings along with the expanse of beautiful flowers. Hawaiian? Yes, your room furniture featured local teak wood. While the design is contemporary, the furniture was hand made by a local artisan. The quilt on your bed was authentic Hawaiian hand-made, quilted by island women. When renting at Hanalei Bay Resort, you are not in a hotel with 100's of look-a-like rooms but in a private owner's unit where individuality, quality and cleanliness are important.

Located at the water's edge of Hanalei Bay and the Pacific Ocean, yes, you do have to drive by condos to arrive. When it was originally built over 30 years ago we were without neighbors. Progress brings company but you have to agree that the spacious property is the top spot on the island and perhaps worth the effort. ”

Perfect affordable escape to paradise with all the comforts

“ Check-in was easy and quick. front desk gave us the room keys and had an attendant load up his golf cart with our belongings.He came to our room with everything (including all the groceries from Costco). The room was clean & neat & had all the ammenities seen on the video & pictures. The attached bedroom came in handy so extended family could have their own refrigerator, microwave & TV. The main room was large enough for cooking & dining for all 3. The view was clearly unobstructed from the Bali Hai view and coud see surfers daily in the water. The a/C takes a while to cool off room & there is no vent for cooking odors. Need to open doors for cross ventilation. The screen doors need maintenance. The W/D was large & ample & came w/soap & oxyclean detergent enough for 1 week. A slight musty odor from loft where king bed is located. There's Bbq'd food for purchase at the pool during lunch hours however no bfst or dinner cafe available. Location close enough to supermarket in Princeville w/reasonable prices & good selections. Haena state park & Tunnels beach only 30 min ride to north. The pool was adequate,pleanty of chairs & not crowded. Best overall: view, location, A/C, W/D, kitchen. On third floor -got a daily work out walking up & down. ”

Well worth it and satisfied

“ We really enjoyed the condo and it exceeded our expectations, particularly given the value. The resort is great with a beautiful pool, access to the beach (wtih snorkeling / surfing) and extensive tennis options (courts, clinics, lessons, friendly people to play with). For the condo, having the kitchen was very helpful as the resort restaurant and bar are closed. The views are spectactular and the two floors of living makes the condo feel more like a house than a hotel room. While some of the fixtures are dated, they are nice, clean, and well attended. I am 6' 3" tall and didn't have a problem with the ceiling fan or slanted ceiling in the loft bedroom as did another reviewer. The mattress was also fine and comfortable different from the other reviewer's opinion. In terms of negatives, one does have to get used to the going up and down the stairs for the bathroom at night and the bedroom area could use a dresser. There was plenty of closet space throughout, but no dresser for clothing. (I'd recommend swapping the piano in the bedroom for drawers.) There is no elevator in the resort so while the top floor has the views, quiet, and space, you have to be ready to walk up and down the stairs. All in all, we had a great trip and really enjoyed our stay. Aloha Condos was prompt and courteous while also allowing us to check out late to maximize our time prior to the flight home. ”

“ This condo was perfect for us. We like to cook our own food so the kitchen was a bonus. There is a fresh fish market in Hanalei which we found early on that was spectauliar. The location was a bit remote which we also liked. Having the bed in the loft was a struggle as we are both tall so we needed to be conscious of the beams and the fan. The bed could use a new mattress, which I am sure could be a great expense in Hawaii. Kristen and the staff at Hanalei Bay were all very accommodating. ”

Everything about this jewel-- its location, view, and interior decorations-- exceeded our hopes for a home away from home. We could only marvel at what we saw. “ This was an amazing condo. It is much more impressive in person than the pictures on the website. When you walk in , you are awe struck by the beautiful view of Hanelai Bay. The condo has a bar high table with 4 comfy bar stools on the lanai. We would sip our morning coffee, looking out at Hanelai Bay. One minute their was a light rain, and the next minute the sun was out and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow. This condo is totally updated I loved the beautiful granite kitchen with every convenience We stopped at Cosco, by the airport in Lihue {across from the mall} and stocked up on good wine, fish and steaks. We enjoyed grilling most nights and catching the sunsets as we ate dinner on the lanai. The pools were nice we enjoyed the circular pool, {very private} and at the large pool you could get grilled burgers from 11-2.We loved Hanelai Dolphin and one day picked up ahi and sushi to take back and enjoy on our lanai at sunset. Postcards and Mediteranean Gourmet are also good choices for dining out. We had a fun Saturday morning going to the farmers market in Hanelai {we loved Sal's salsa} .Their are great beaches, you can walk down to the beach at the resort,{if you are lugging alot beach cairs boogy boards, call for a tram to take you down to the beach, and you can call them to pick you up[ this beach is shared by the St Regis} The St Regis has a luau on Thursday nights and we enjoyed having a drink listening to great jazz and enjoying their spectacular view {that's on Sunday at 4} We did zip-lining at princeville ranch and that was a fun adventure. We can't wait to get back to this beautiful resort. ”

Large and has a nice tropical feel. The water is wonderful. Short walk to St. Regis where you can watch an amazing sunset. Best view on the north shore! No downfalls for the unit.It is perfect. The only problems I could see would be for people who are elderly. The resort is very hilly and hard to walk. Also, if you want immediate beach access it is a little bit of a walk. We enjoyed the walk to the beach, there is some great scenery. Also, the hilly walking didn't bother us as we are active. I wouldn't let it defer you from staying here even if you don't like walking. They have people with golf carts that will take you anywhere you want to go. If you buy groceries you can call them and they will meet you at your car, help you load the groceries, drive to your unit, and help you carry them up. This place was great. Loved the unit, would most definately stay here again! I miss it already!!! ”

The recently remodeled kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and more. The beach equipment was appreciated, as was the welcome tote bag. The tempurpedic bed in the main room is a luxury, especially when combined with the song birds and the view of the bay and mountains at sunrise. It is obvious that a lot of thoughtfulness and care was put into the accomodations. The location in the resort is great, not too far to walk to the car, and close to the main pool. I would gladly stay here again and again. The only downside to staying on the north side of the island is that it takes a long time to drive to the other side. Kristen was a pleasure to work with, and extremely helpful and professional. Thank you for allowing us a magical stay! We hope to be back soon. ”

We arrived at night and were amazed at the quality and decor of the condo and touched by a welcome basket filled with goodies and wine. In the morning I opened the shades and literally gasped at the most breathtaking view I had ever seen. The picture from the website does not do it justice, the view is AMAZING. The condo owners thought of everything from snorkel gear to candles every detail they included was so nice. We had a wonderful honeymoon and fell in love with the north shore! When you envision Hawaii this is it!!! We did have some issues with the dishwasher and drain in the bath but the condo was getting an overhaul the day after we left. Advice: 1. Have your breakfast and happy hour at sunset on the lanai. 2. Go to the fish market and grill for dinner 3. Zip line or hike. 4. Postcards Restaurant for a lovely meal. and 5. R E L A X ”

We enjoy cooking, and the kitchen had everything we needed (and more) to prepare meals. The BBQ centre was very convenient to the condo. Eating on the lanai was wonderful with the incredible views. The beautiful lanai furniture was one of the many highlights of this condo, with raised table/chairs to maximize the view, and comfy lounge chairs. The in-unit washer/dryer was nice to have, although for those renting a studio unit, there is a laundry facility just a few steps from this building. The king size bed was very comfortable. Both the living room and bedroom had a full wall of windows/patio doors to take in the magnificent views of the bay and Bali Hai. In all of our travels I don't think I've stayed anywhere with a view as beautiful as this! The owners have thought of just about everything for guests' enjoyment, with boogie boards, beach mats, umbrellas, cooler, etc. The resort itself is very nice ... beautiful landscaping/gardens, impressive & large free form pool with waterfalls, and nice lobby where the Happy Talk Lounge is. There are 8 tennis courts spread out throughout the resort. The walk to the beach down the paved path takes about 5 minutes .... it's a bit of a workout coming up, but we liked the exercise, and for those who want a ride, there is a call-box at the bottom to call for a shuttle to the top. Can't wait to go back! ”

The bed was adequate and there was a small refrig, microwave, coffee machine and toaster for breakfasts or leftovers. The resort's restaurant, the Happy Talk Lounge, was actually really good and had decent prices for Hawaii. They had good entertainment there just about every night and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The pool at the resort is top of the line and Condo 4324 is really close to the pool and everything else, especially the beach. The beach area was perfect. You can snorkel right at beach, or go out a little bit to catch a wave on one of the calmer days. If you brought a bunch of stuff down and don't want to carry it back, no problem! There's a phone at the base of the trail that will call the front desk. They'll send a cart right on down to pick you up and take you wherever you want. We stayed a week there, came back refreshed, and would be more than happy to stay there again! ”

A short walk from your room and you are on the most secluded beach...for now, until the St. Regis opens back up. Great views from the balcony and relaxed island decor make this an ideal room for two. Decent bathroom and plenty of room. The resort overall could use a place to dine and relax, ie bar, but you are so close to town with many options. Don't miss Bar Acuda, best place to dine! The pool and tennis courts are an extra bonus if you have time. Have stayed at this resort over 10 years ago, each room is unique and I will request this one again. ”

Kristen, at Aloha Condos was very organized about confirming dates, payment, and sending directions. There was a large welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, which left us feeling very appreciated. The room was beautifully decorated and furnished with an incredibly comfortable king sized bed, an impressive marble bathroom, plush rug, and a great view. There was just enough kitchen equipment to cover all out needs (eating breakfast in the room, storing and packing our own lunches, and reheating dinner leftovers). The resort itself is in the perfect spot for exploring the north side of Kauai (better than the south in my opinion), it has a great pool, and breathtaking views. The resort itself it about to undergo extensive renovation so it can only get better. We liked the room so much we wished we had spent out entire vacation here. I highly recommend it. ”

“ This condo was perfect for our honeymoon. The view of Hanalei Bay from our lanai was absolutely amazing and we ate breakfact every morning out there. The room was clean, large, and met all of our needs. There was even a mini-fridge and microwave so we could keep drinks and snacks in the room. We were totally fine with no frills like room service or daily maid service. It was worth the cheaper prices when compared to other nearby hotels (e.g., St. Regis Princeville Hotel which was next door). The hotel property was very quiet and so relaxing! An employee told us the hotel was 80% full, yet we rarely saw other guests. The pool was fine and we enjoyed the 5-7 minute walk to the beach (the path winds through the trees behind the hotel). Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We loved our room and when we return to Kauai we will certainly try to stay in this same condo at the HBR. ”

The room was nicely furnished although smallish. It smelled a bit musty. For the price,$99.00 per night, it was a great value. They had a workable set up for a no kitchen unit with a closet that had coffee maker, microwave, toaster and some dishes. There was a dorm size refrigerator which allowed us to store wine and stuff for Mai Tai's and breakfast fixings. This is what we like and it was lovely having breakfast and drinks enjoying the beautiful view. The teak deck lounges were so comfortable you could take a nap. When the weather was good, it seemed perfect. When it rained hard and we couldn't get out so much, it seemed too small. I'd stay there again, especially if it wasn't the winter. We got very lucky and had mostly good weather. ”

Since dining out is so expensive, and not all that great, we also took advantage of the well stocked kitchen. The cookware is the same that I use at home so I felt right at ease. And, the knives were quality and sharp. How often do you find that in a condo? The furniture and decor was very tasteful and comfortable and I felt like I was living in my own home for the week that we rented. The condo was fantastic and the setting of the Hanalei Bay Resort is beautiful. Yet, I would say that the resort needs some tweaks. The waterfall pool is movie quality. Since the restaurant is gone, the boarded up walkway leading from the pool to the lobby detracts from the beauty of this setting. In an effort to provide guests with some poolside amenities, a tent has been set up to grill lunches. However, this temporary structure also looks quite tattered next to this stone pool. And, finally, the outhouses, although sort of hidden. Really? These should be addressed and then this beautiful ambiance would be even better. The tennis courts, towel service, cart service and grounds were incredible. These small tweaks would only enhance. This is a great place and a fantastic condo. I hope that the lobby, restaurant, and lounge will reopen but I realize that the economy may play a factor in that. However, we still enjoyed our time here and will definitely come back to this condo! ”

The condo has been beautifully remodeled - the only area that can use an upgrade is the kitchen but it was absolutely fine for our 4 night stay. ”

We arrived in the dark and literally gasped at the view the next morning once we realized how awesome it was. The condo company was easy to work with and left a great gift basket in the condo. Directions were perfect, check in took 2 minutes, property was gorgeous and totally renovated, pool/jacuzzi luxurious with waterfalls, walk to beach was 5 minutes on a neat path through the trees. The beach was gorgeous! (And we are from Florida!) St. Regis next door has wonderful restaurants that you can use as well (Jean Georges Kauai Grill was awesome.) North shore is the BEST! I cannot imagine staying on the south shore once I've seen the north. Incredibly beautiful, not crowded or touristy, and the Princeville complex is great. Super running trails, nice mixed use community (houses, villas, condos, resort, golf courses, playgrounds, good grocery store, etc.) Hanalei town very close with many good restaurants too. Easy to drive all over the island as it is small but renting a car is a must. We travel a lot and highly recommend this place! Absolutely FABULOUS condo in a ridiculously wonderful setting! :) Don't think twice - book it! We'd return in a heartbeat! ”

“ We are so happy that we chose to spend our week vacation on the North shore, but particularly so that we did so at the Hanalei Bay Resort. We rented Condo 6204 from aloha Condos after doing much homework, as this was our first trip to Kauai. I was tentative at first to book someone's private condo as this was the first for us (we usually do resorts). But it exceeded our expectations in most areas. It was very professionally managed. From booking, to answering requests, all was very professional. They catered for all our requests and needs without hesitation and with a smile. The first thing that struck out to me was that even though it was a studio (hence relatively smaller than say a 1-bedroom), the owner had decorated it very tastefully. On top of this, the amenities were really top end and the attention to detail was highly thought over. (For example they had detergent for the dish washer and other small things you didn't have to run to the sundry shop to buy). This is something we appreciated very much. It was very clean, and felt roomy. The bathroom is very modern and spacious with very good lighting. The kitchenette, though small and not a full kitchen, had everything you would need for making coffee and tea, sandwiches and other smaller meals. It was stacked with the necessary kitchenware. The bed was nice, huge and very comfy and we had very nice sleep there. They have an a/c (Daikin) which helped a lot as it can get a bit warm during the day and even at night sometimes. The best bit of the condo though, was the lanai or verandah. Unlike surrounding condos (which had cheap plastic chairs), they have confortable chairs with cushions and tables...and the view of Hanalei Bay is very, very enduring. We would just sit there and soak in the peace, tranquility of the islands right there from the lanai. If our travels bring us back to Kauai in the future, we would stay here again without a doubt. It was a dream holiday. ”

The Makai Princeville golf course is one of the best I've played. Look on the internet for good price tee times. I highly recommened the Coast hike and Captain andy's snorkel/dinner cruise. By the way the TV moves in any direction if you want to watch in bed or Lanai. My wife and I had an amazing time and hope to come back some day. Kristin the owner was very nice and easy to work with. The condo had great towels, cooler, and beach chairs. It is very easy to get to from the parking lot. A great gorcery store close with great prices. We cooked out on the grill and it was very nice. ”

Luckily, the weather in Hanalei was mostly cool during our stay, so we found that we didn't need to run the air conditioner---especially at night. The front door was not a solid door, so you could hear the other vacationers outside if they walked by--but this was not really a bother. However....the roosters! They loved to let you know they were in the vicinity---especially at 6:00 am! Other than the roosters, the only really negative thing is that the room did not have Internet access. The gift shop on the property had WiFi, but it just wasn't convenient for us to lug our stuff to the gift shop each time we needed to access the Internet. Overall, we had a very nice stay in the Hanalei Bay Resort condo. We would come back to stay here again. ”

It was breathtaking to wake up and see how close Bali Hi was and to see the most beautiful rainbow soaring in the sky! The view is far more closer than it appears online. The condo location was great! Only a half a minute to the pool, restauraunt and tennis courts. The beach is stunning and just a short 5-10 minute walk down the hill. There was a call box at the bottom, close to the beach in case you wished to have a ride back up. Unfortunately during our stay the main restaurant was closed at the resort and also at the St. Regis next door. We ate one night at the lounge on the resort and were not very impressed with the food. Beautiful condo and resort to stay at with restaurant, shops, and a grocery store within a 5 minute drive. Hanalei Bay is approximately 10 minutes away and has many more shops to offer. ”

“ Let me start by saying "Amazing!” My family and I stayed in 6303 from June 14th - June 21st. We absolutely loved it. The condo was perfect for us in every way. The views from the lanai were just stunning. We kept taking pictures to try and capture the beauty of it all, but pictures just can't do it justice. We loved looking at the waterfalls off in the distance and we saw rainbows most mornings over the bay. The condo itself was immaculate. There were five of us traveling, myself, my husband and our three boys, age 9, 13 & 14. The loft area worked out perfect for the three of them; they had their own area while we had the beautiful master bedroom. There was plenty of room for everyone. We really appreciated all the extras, like the fully stocked closet with everything you could need for a day at the beach. Beach chairs, coolers, beach mats, snorkel equipment, beach bag, boogie board, sand toys, sunscreen..everything you could want. We loved having the full kitchen, which was very well equipped; we ate most of our meals at the condo. We loved the grills down by the small pool and used them often to cook dinner. It was perfect to spend the day at all the beautiful north shore beaches and then come back to the condo, cook a wonderful meal and eat dinner on the lanai with the best view in town! The location of the condo was perfect for us. We enjoyed the north shore and could easily get to all the wonderful beaches. Our favorites were Tunnels Beach, Ha'ena Beach and Hanalei Bay. We drove down to Po'ipu Beach one day, but found that we didn't enjoy it as much as the north shore beaches. The resort grounds are wonderful and well maintained. The pool and hot tub area is gorgeous, I just loved the waterfalls, and they make it feel so tropical. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone, in fact, I already have. I hope someday I will have the opportunity to come back again. It was the perfect place to stay! We loved it!! ”

The high ceiling give the unit a spacious feel and through the lanai there is a marvelous view of Hanalei Bay all the way to Mt. Makana (Bali Hai). The lanai off the master bedroom has the same view. There is a loft with two beds accessible by a circular staircase. All rooms have large flat screen Tv's, but in this beautiful place there won't be much time for TV. The lagoon style swimming pool is approx 100 feet away and the hot tub about 200 ft away in the lagoon pool area. Also there is the round pool below the unit with a picnic area with gas Bbq's. The lanai has a high bar style table great for morning coffee or a dinner with an onobstructed view of Hanalei Bay. Regis (Princeville Hotel) but you won't find a better value or a more original Hawaiian experience than the Hanalei Bay Resort. Hbr is a mix of private owners and timshares. I would recommend staying in one of the private condos as they seem to be better furnished and maintained. The resort was well maintained, the grounds impeccable, the pool inviting and the best view on the island. This was our 3rd stay at the HBR and our first time in Condo 6303. The condo was comfortable, well furnished and had the perfect view of Hanalei Bay. We were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks right from the lanai. We didn't do much cooking in the condo but the kitchen appeared to be well stocked with all you could need. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've found in a condo or hotel. The owners were very thoughtful and stocked the condo with beach chairs, mats, snorkel gear and everything else you could need for a day at the beach. Aloha Condos and the condo owner Kristen Greene made our stay very enjoyable. We we're disappointed that the restaurant and bar were closed and except for a small issue with the plumbing which was fixed right away our stay was perfect and we'll definitely be back someday. ”

Luckily, there were plenty of paper towels, so we kept them in the bathrooms and were able to avoid using towels at all, except for showering. Also, I was nervous that we would get fined or something if one of my kids fell asleep on a couch. I realize it's difficult to open your home to renters, but some where and tear has to be expected if you decide to do it. ”

There was a really great view of the ocean from the extremely large balcony! It was neat being there in winter to watch the huge 30+ foot waves crashing. The condo itself was great. There was a fully equipped kitchen with just about anything you would need to cook with. The washer and dryer in the unit were really fast and worked very well! Also, I would really like to come back with friends and family, there was easily enough room to sleep 6 people in the condo. There were two what looked like at least full if not queen beds in the loft, the couch folded out into a queen bed and the king sized bed in the bedroom. Besides the condo, the grounds themselves were fabulous! They have a gorgeous pool, a really nice heated spa, a really nice restaurant with great food, live entertainment every night, an amazing gorgeous beach with a really cool jungle path you have to go down to get there, excellent friendly and fast service, what more can you ask for?!?!?! The area surrounding was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There was so much to do right in the condo's backyard. A 10 minute drive brought you to really neat sea caves or stunningly beautiful rivers and beaches. There were kayak rentals really close by too. Overall I had a really excellent time and would recommend this condo to any of my own friends or family! ”

I highly recommend this room for people that want to stay at Hanalei Bay who are on a budget and want a resort style room. After seeing the other resorts, like St Regis which is amazing, I'd still stay at Hanalei Bay Resort as it's far better value for money. I'd probably stay in a room with a kitchen next time but if I was staying for longer or intended to cook. The only cons: - Only very small kitchenette but all new. Had microwave, toaster/oven and bar fridge. Washing dishes had to be done in the bathroom. We only had breakfast in the room so this wasn't a real issue. - It's probably the furthest room from the reception which is quite a steep walk for half of it. We didn't mind but this could be a problem for some. You can organise a buggy to pick up you however free of charge and they are quite prompt. - The resort pool and spa were really good. It's a shame there is no bar or restaurant. I think these were damaged in the big fire some time ago and looks they aren't in a big rush replacing them. ”

“ We are delighted you enjoyed unit 7201. Every adjoining unit has two doors that close against one another. The door on your side has a doorknob only on your side, so once closed no one can open it from the other side. The same is true for the door that closes against it but opens from the adjoining unit. I believe the door on your own side was open as the other guests would not have been able to open it. In future please rest assured you can close the door on your own side and others will not have access to your unit. ”

There is a marsh next door so the no-see-ums were a bit of a nuisance in the evenings that had no breeze. The condo is pretty far from the lobby and parking lot but we didn't mind the walk and it was very quiet at that end. Views of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai were lovely. I would have liked it if they had changed our towels mid-week and provided an extra tea towel. Overall though, a very nice stay and we didn't spend much time in the room. Excellent value for the money we paid. ”

“ I booked this unit online and had a hard time deciding between this or a larger full condo (such as 7202). For the difference in price I found this to a be a great place: The view from the unit is good (nice view of the ocean and surrounding mountains) and you can hear the ocean. The additional side window and privacy that this end unit has is a real bonus compared to other similar priced units. This 'studio' style unit (think of it as a master suite, not really a studio condo) was simple but had all we needed for a three night stay and we could have easily stayed longer. I found that the lack of a real kitchen wasn't much of a problem--the fridge and microwave did the job and there are enough dishes/utensiles. The bathroom sink worked just fine for washing them. To sum it up: Good: Ocean and mountain views Nice pool, great hot tub Sandy beach access Not crowded at all (Feb 4-7). We pretty much had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. Overall condo condition is good--real nice bed, tv, kitchenette area, etc. Room for improvement: The restaurant and bar are both closed (but they do have a BBQ during lunch hours at the pool) Porch furniture is a little worn out Red carpet is a little weird for me (but it was in nice condition) No bluray player (I happened to have some netflix blurays in my luggage) but there is a DVD player and a nice TV that folds out from the wall. The additional fees (room cleaning fee, resort fee, taxes) add significantly to the cost. I put in 3 star for service, only because the hefty cleaning fee only covers a 'move out' cleaning. So you are on your own for taking out the trash, cleaning dishes, making the bed, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful though. ”

Wonderful views and privacy.

“ We chose 7201 for the location within the complex and the views. We were not disappointed. It was very quiet and people rarely walked by our lanai. It was very private at that end of the complex. No other lanais within view of ours. We had sunset views, mountain and ocean views. The gardens around our condo were very lush and green. We loved watching the birds come out in the morning. We were provided two new beach chairs. Check in was very easy and we were immediately taken to our room via golf cart with all our groceries and luggage. Whenever we called for a cart they were very speedy and friendly. The air conditioner worked well. Downsides included only a butler's kitchen. Although it had plates, bowls, knives, silverware and storage containers, if you want to eat meals in the room you must be a bit creative and not mind washing dishes in the bathroom sink. On a couple of occasions we had some noise coming through the door connecting the adjoining room, but it wasn't bad. We didn't mind the walk across the complex to get to the room or the beach, but someone who has any trouble walking a distance and any incline would find it difficult and would probably need to call for a cart each time they left or returned to the room. We found it great for several small work outs a day. All in all a nice condo in a great location on the northshore of Kauai. We would return, but might opt for the unit next door with the full kitchen. ”

There is a fridge, microwave, and utensils in a little nook by the bathroom, but the space is small, so don't expect it to be bigger than what you see in the pictures... Unless you also rented 7202 which has an adjoining room door. We didn't mind the adjoining door, but I imagine this might be annoying if you had a loud neighbor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! It wasn't the best in the world, but it's definitely a good value. :) ”

Great unit in a spectacular location

(mountain, ocean, and garden views) This unit is huge - the living/dining area has plenty of room to spread out without feeling cramped, and the bedroom is also quite large. The kitchen and bathroom are a decent size. I appreciated the "split" bathroom with the toilet/shower in its own room, so the sink/vanity/mirror could be used separately. Also, it was great to have a washer/dryer in the unit, which we used several times. The unit appears to have been recently remodeled, with very nice furnishings and appliances. The complex is great, convenient to lots of sights and activities, a nice walk (or shuttle ride) to the beach, with a beautiful main pool/spa, and wonderful lush gardens/grounds. We did not try the smaller pool, which is a shorter walk from the unit, because we just liked the size and naturalistic style (rocks, plants, waterfalls) of the main pool so much. All in all, a great stay and we'd be thrilled to stay here again. ”

Kauai is Paradise

Foodland is a short drive away for the essentials This unit has air conditioning that is exceptionally quiet. The sheets and towels are all top notch. Noisy neighbors that chain smoked on their porch moved in shortly after we arrived. After several days of putting up with that nonsense we complained to the front desk and the troublesome behavior ceased. This is a non-smoking resort!! If you want to smoke you will need to hike up to the parking lot. There are fruit trees everywhere along the walking paths. If you go early you will find treats under the trees in the morning. The walk to the beach is pleasant. You can swim and snorkel there. By the way...there are feral chicken everywhere on the island...and the roosters start crowing in the middle of the night. Bring earplugs if you like to sleep with the doors and windows open at night!!! I am not kidding about this, you have been warned... ”

The two pools are really nice. It's a short walk down to a small beach and short car ride to other great beaches and fun adventure spots. There is a grocery store five minutes away as well. It was great that they had the cart service as well- you can call for a golf cart if you are in a hurry, have a lot of stuff to carry, or are dressed up in heels and don't feel like walking up to your car :) I am happy that I went this route instead of a hotel room at the St. Regis or the Westin. The HBR staff were very accomodating and had great tips and knowledge about the area. I have friends that live on the North Shore so I already had some inside tips of places to see and restaurants to eat at! (If you want a great, basic breakfast, check out "Wake Up Cafe")! ”

The living room, my bedroom and my friend's bedroom all faced Hanalei Bay, and each of these rooms had a breathtaking view to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon mai tais and sunsets. The condo was stalked with everything anyone could ever need. It was obvious to me that the owner wanted to make sure that the guests were well cared for. Snorkel gear and boogie board, as well as a fully stocked kitchen made my stay one to remember. The decor was beautifully put together with a tropical air about it. I loved the bamboo floors in the bedrooms and the airy woven carpet in the living room - it kept everything fresh and tropical and light. The condo was very spacious, and more than accommodated the 8 guests we had for dinner one night. I highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone to rent. You may rent it by going to 'alohacondos.com' and look at suites 7307 and 7308, which may be rented separately or together. I'm telling all my friends about it. Thank you!!! ”

Two weeks in paradise

“ My wife and I spent two weeks in HBR #7307. The pictures of the unit and the views from the lanai on the alohacondos.com site do a great job of describing what it is like. A couple of the amenities included with the unit that made our trip that much better were the beach cooler and the snorkeling equipment. The sunsets are dramatic, we've been told the "view will never change" and we didn't tire of enjoying it over breakfast or after a long day at the beach surfing. The unit is a fair walk from the parking lot with quite a hill, but the resort has 24 hour golf cart service to help you with your luggage and getting to and from the unit. Unit 7307 is on the third level and the building it is a part of the stair way only services two rooms on each level so it is very private. Because unit is away from the parking lot you aren't subjected to noise of cars, you do hear the gas powered golf carts though when the windows or doors are open. The bathroom was clean and everything was in working order. The four-poster bed with netting was fun. One of the other reviews mentions the buzzing noise of the air conditioning unit in the master bedroom, it is still there even when the unit isn't running, but it isn't too loud. It was not bothersome to us. One thing I didn't like about it was the floor covering in the living room. It isn't a soft carpet, but I imagine it is quite practical for the climate and how some people may treat a property they are renting. Another thing that sticks out was the refrigerator needs some cleaning on the outside around the sides and top. Overall we *really* enjoyed our time there. The grounds, the unit, the service -everything was very good. So what are you waiting for? Book it already. ;) ”

Beautiful and affordable Place

Not only was it beautiful and affordable, but it was spacious (more than enough room for the two of us!) and had the most amazing views of the mountains and the ocean. We couldn't believe our view every morning when we woke up. The bedroom and living room were very nice (everything looks exactly like it does in the pictures). I liked that the toilet/shower were separate from the bathroom sink and counter. When my boyfriend was showering, I would be using the sink to get ready and vice versa. There were tiny little bugs (apparently called sunset bugs) that liked to roam around the kitchen counter and they were a bit annoying, but they were so small that it wasn't too much of a problem. Just don't leave food out and pack everything away in cupboards or the fridge. Overall, it was a great experience and we definitely miss this place and will be staying here again upon our next visit! ”

The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had all the equipment and utensils we needed, though we didn't really cook much during our stay. We appreciated the well-stocked closet with beach gear (boogie boards, chairs, rolling box to carry beach gear, towels, etc. My only complaint with the unit is that we tried to watch a DVD in the living room but couldn't figure out how to make the sound play from the stereo speakers. The sound from TV speakers was poor, so we had to move to the bedroom TV to watch a movie. Also, the bedroom TV did not seem to receive a cable TV signal. We had to use the living room TV for this. Since we really didn't spend much time watching TV, this wasn't a big deal. We didn't try to contact anyone to inquire about this, but it might have helped if the condo provided a short instruction sheet for using the audio/video equipment. I also wasn't interested in paying $10+ per day to have computer access - seems a bit absurd in these times that free internet isn't provided for all units. ”

The unit has a wonderful view of the Hanalei Bay from both the living room and bedroom lanai. It is well equipped with beach equipments such as boogie boards, snorkling gears, beach mats, etc. They also have a couple tennis racquets. The kitchen is well equipped as well. Plenty of glasswares and dishes. The unit itself is a bit outdated. The carpet looks dirty. The unit has a dank odor, but what was most troublesome was the ac unit in the living room made a constant buzzing noise. It bothered us when we were reading during the night. The resort offers golf cart pick-up/drop off to the beach and anywhere on site. There are plenty of tennis courts to use. The HBR is nestled within a wonderful community. It is a convenient stay for those who plans to be in the north shore of Kauai. ”

“ We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our condo, but regret the problems you found. We truly pride ourselves on making your stay as perfect as possible, and only wish you had phoned any of the contacts we provide for any guest questions or concerns. Phone #'s for our maid and maintenance staff are provided, or Chuck or the hotel front desk people could have alerted us to the problems. My only guess is the carpet looked stained possibly due to prior guests with not enough turnaround time to get a carpet cleaner in there. The problem has since been resolved. The buzzing noise of the A/C meant it hadn't been turned off. My suspicion is that the odor was from the unit being closed up, as we have never had a guest mention this. Again, we regret these problems, and only wish we'd had the chance to immediately correct or clear up any situations. We want all guests to be thrilled with their stay.

We really strive to provide a spectacular unit with everything a guest could think of provided, from movies filmed in Kauai, boogie boards, flat screens, plentiful & comfortable indoor and outdoor furniture, to fun, cheerful Hawaiian decor. We think the guest receives an amazing value for the best view in the world, in a spacious, lovely condo.

“ The view from the balcony is absolutely terrific, but the condo itself is just a place to stay. Building and furnishings are dated, carpets stained, small plain pool was under repair, wild chickens will wake you at 4:00 a.m., and you are at the mercy of fairly unreliable shuttle service to get around(no cars are allowed in the resort area). The locale is nice, though, right on the Bay overlooking Bali Hai, and the beach area, shared with the Princeville Resort, is quite nice. It's a servicable facility -- clean and all appliances (including AC) worked well. Since we were out touring most of the time, it was fine for our purposes. ”

Good spot to stay for North Kauai

Five stars for sure once restaurant is back

“ My wife and I stayed here for a few days during our honeymoon on Kauai, visiting from Manhattan. It was very clean and comfortable. The Resort is a great, more 'classic kauai' small nook in princeville. 707 was nicely furnished, a very comfy bed, and a lanai you won't forget anytime soon. The restaurant that is situated here and in many guidebooks was not yet open. But that would have added a lot. The people that worked here were very nice and accommodating. You definitely feel like you are on a resort instead of just a condo. Keep in mind although the pier at Hanalei Bay is right around the corner on the beach, if you try and walk there you will probably cut your feet on coral trying. (yes i did). It's very rocky beach below the hotel and it's really best for snorkeling or sun tanning. Once the St. Regis opens later this year, and the main HBR restaurant opens then you would really be set here. Recommended. ”

We really enjoyed the view from the condo and the mirror on the back wall that reflects the view so you can enjoy it from whichever direction you are looking. That was a nice touch. The lanai furniture was a little uncomfortable and could be updated. We were glad to have access to extra beach towels and the beach chairs and boogie boards that are left in the condo. We wished the condo also had some tennis rackets and tennis balls. The resort has some very nice tennis courts, and you can rent rackets and balls from the tennis pro shop. However, the guy was never at the shop when we wanted to play tennis. Luckily, the front desk loaned us some equipment. So it would be nice if the condo provided this equipment so renters don't have to go searching for it. The rest of the resort is also really nice, particularly the large pool and hot tub. The beach access is a bit of a walk from this condo, but the resort offers free shuttles so we took advantage of those at times. All in all, I would definitely recommend this condo for travelers wanting to stay on the north side of the island. ”

The single room was more than enough for our 4 day stay. Plenty of room , mini-frig and microwave a plus for easy breakfast or lunch. Bed was very comfortable. It was great having beach towels and beach chairs available so we were set to go.limited closet space due to mini -frig and cleaning equip. We did have some small ants in the bathroom upon arrival but bought a spray and solved the problem. Since the sink in the bathroom is the only one for washing dishes there may have been food around there at some point. It was also helpful having silverware, plates, etc. We felt as if we could be very self-sufficient. locale at the resort is always a plus. We had stayed there 3 years ago-- still surrounded by beautiful plants and landscaping- very well attended. tennis courts, beach, two pools-- what's not to like?? We would definitely return.For the price point it gave us exactly what we were looking for. The resort is a 5 minute drive from Hanalei where we typically stopped at Java Kai( changing name to Hanalei coffee roasters) for coffee and fresh fruit- super service. Also liked the little restaurant bar around the corner from Java Kai. Postcards is another good spot for dinner. Even though we hit the rainy season/winter-- we had plenty of time to be outside and relax.The hike on the napali coast is worth the effort--Na pali coast- beautiful views if a bit muddy and steep in places. Highly recommend. ”

“ I really did my research while looking for a place to stay in Kauaii...I looked at so many websites for condos, I knew I wanted something other than a hotel. I found this this condo on the website with several other condo's in the same resort...We wanted a condo because we didn't want to spend all of our money going out to restaurants, on the islands that is and expensive undertaking. So, we booked with the expectations of having a place to prepare a breakfast and possibly being able to prepare lunch or a snack...Unfortunately, this unit was not equipped or even set up for much more than a sleep and a shower. The unit had a great view and was very quiet. however, as advertised, it was a hike up and down a pretty steep hill. So if you can't walk well or have trouble with your knees you might want to choose another unit...The Unit has a nice King size bed with a nice little balcony so you have some room to move about...The bathroom is a little old and dated, with a very small tub and a standard bathroom sink...Therein lies the problem of cleanup, to wash your dishes you must wash them in a small bathroom sink. We bought fresh fruit and wanted to cut it up, we had to cut it in the bathroom with no cutting board and it really made a mess of a small bathroom...There is a coffee pot in the condo, but there was no toaster so we purchased one for the unit, we wanted a little coffee and toast in the morning. All in all it is an adequate place to stay. however, due to the age and poor layout of the Condo, and the fact that it is not setup as anything other than a hotel room, we will not be staying there again. The Hanalei Bay Resort Condo Complex, is nice and quiet and Princeville is a great place to stay, next time, I will be looking for a condo with adequate facilities to meet my specifications as a Condo, not a hotel room. ”

It does have a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blender, utensils, and BBQ steps away by the pool. We only wish you and we had realized what you wanted, and could have rented our adjacent condo, 7307, which has a full kitchen, dishwasher, dining table, laundry, living room, separate bedroom, bath, and 2 lanais w/ chaises and tables to sit at and gaze at the spectacular view. We know you would have loved this unit, and regret any misconception.
Also the resort provides free shuttle service to and from the beach, for those who do not like to walk. Guests only need to ask for this service.

The room is not well insulated from the adjoining unit and noise can be heard. Rosters are also noisy after 3 am but that is just Kauai charm. Dinner on the lanai of fresh grilled seafood with a sunset over Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay was fantastic. HBR, as the locals call it, is a beautiful property. The landscaping is very mature and well kept. My friend, who grew up in Florida and was familiar with many of the plants, marveled at the size of them. We heartily recommend 7308 at HBR. It was lushly landscaped and offered spectacular views of the famous Bali Hai mountains from rooms, restaurants and lobby. Sunsets were spectacular. I can highly recommend this unit (and Resorts!) to any couple wishing for a romantic getaway at an extremely affordable price. You don't expect to get so much for so little in these times! Bummer the restaurant/bar were not operational. They were supposed to be but a fire in July put a stop to construction. Condo 1205's kitchenette had no food pantry to store dry products, no food preparation area, no oven and the undercounter refrig had no freezer for ice making/storage. We hung out mostly in the Hanalei Bay area so it was a little inconvenient to drive in and out of Princeville, but overall it was a good stay. ”

The night before, it rained heavily & when we got up the next morning, we had the pleasure of viewing 21 waterfalls, Thanks to the binoculars that Jim had. ( Boy, he thinks of everything.) The service at the resort was great. We enjoyed our dinners & entertainment @ the restaurant. The resort is close to Hanalei town where all the nice restaurants are & ofcourse the Hanalei Bay. Little things like dishwasher and laundry detergent, beach chairs, towels & mats, lots of linens, games and video library, and a very useful little library helped. The information folder/binder was immensely helpful and something we'd not seen before. The bedroom setup was excellent. We could sit in bed and watch the flatscreen TV or just enjoy the view. Beautiful lanai that we didn't use nearly enough! In-room laundry and a second bathroom came in very handy. Beautiful well thought out decor with just enough kitch to bring charm and that "lived in/loved" feeling while being remarkably clean and uncluttered. We had almost no daytime rain until the next to last day when a tropical storm hit the North Shore dropping 17 inches of rain in Hanalei in 24 hours. Thank God we were on the Princeville side of the Hanalei bridge which got washed out. All of this in the middle of a beautiful resort with tons of amenities and a incredible private beach walk at remarkable value for the money. It was an incredible way to start to our honeymoon. We'll definitely be staying here again. ”

“ When we arrived at the Hanalei Bay Resort, we knew exactly where to go so proceeded to our condo. As we live on the south shore of Kauai, we came up weeks prior to our visit to do a preview. The double end unit was quiet and private, which worked out perfectly for us, since we had massages scheduled on the outside lanais. This condo worked out great for the three of us; my husband and I took the master and our niece slept on the murphy bed. We each had our own full bath which was so convenient. The one issue we did have, was the master bath fixture in the shower. It was very difficult to use and get the temperature right, without a lot of fiddling around. The kitchen was very well equipped and had all the cooking utensils we needed. It even had a spice rack, but we were a bit disappointed not to have any salt or pepper. The other complaint we had about the kitchen was the overhead light. It was so hot that we could not use it while we were in the kitchen. Perhaps replacing the bulb with a CFL would solve that problem. Overall, we loved the unit and would stay there again if the opportunity should arise. ”

The bath fixtures in both showers have been replaced with new fixtures and shower heads. I've also re-caulked the tub in the master bedroom side.

There is now salt & pepper in the condo as well.

This is the first time that I've had a complaint about the light in the kitchen - it's a 100 watt halogen. We've recently replaced a dimmer switch with a regular switch because the switch was in the way of the refrigerator door. I didn't find it hot while living there six months but if I continue to get complaints I'll put in a dimmer switch again.

The kitchen now has a new very high-end (according to my plumber!) faucet as well.

“ The indefinite closure of the restaurant and lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort has been clearly stated on the Aloha Condos Website resort and condo pages since December 2008.

This guest booked in February 2009 and I am sorry that she didn't know about the closure.

The remainder of the resort continues to be maintained and this is the first comment that I've heard to the contrary. When I lived in my condo from July 2008 - February 2009, the level of resort maintenance was the same as I had seen since I bought my condo in 2000.

Wonderful Kauai Condo

It had a well stocked kitchen, and we cooked several nights. The owner thoughtfully provided many videos for the two TVs, beach equipment to use, and had written very thorough island guides for his guests. As we were traveling with our two teenage children, we really enjoyed having two rooms and two baths. The Hanalei Bay Resort was beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed the beach, tennis courts, and pool. We also enjoyed the view of waterfalls from our two balconies. This part of the island was not as crowded as the southern end, which was nice. We would definitely recommend Hanalei Bay Resort and this particular condo again, and look forward to coming again ourselves! ”

I don't even think of staying in a different place when I plan a Hawaiian vacation. I always think about Aloha Condos first. I've stayed in several of the units in Kauai and have also stayed in one of their units on the Big Island. They are all very clean, very nice, and again, a home away from home. ”

“ Hanalei Bay Resort is beautiful and we loved the condo. It was comfortable, very clean and air conditioned. Full kitchen and washer and dryer were also nice to have. It was a peaceful and quiet location to come back to after a full day on the beaches. The pool and grounds at HBR are very tropical and beautiful. Great Stay! Highly recommend! ”

The furnishings were beautiful and the condo was supplied with every detail a person could want. It was so nice to have two full bathrooms!!! “ We found your beautiful condo after much searching on the web. Contact and arrangements were easily accomplished via email. Upon arrival, Jim had a great welcome beach bag (reusable) filled with goodies in his fully furnished, wi-fi condo. Jim had thought of everything from games to movies, pool toys to kitchenware and spices. We timeshare travel a lot and the fully stocked nature of this condo was the best we've seen by far! It was perfect for us as a couple with easy access to the rest of the island and breathtaking views of the mountains and waterfalls. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and have recommended Jim's condo to several friends since our visit. ”
