There was also a pool but we didn't use it. (why when ther's a beach nearby). The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The location was great with a variety of restarants and shops nearby. The beach was close & very clean. Various car hire firms just across the road in one building) and public transport very close. We liked everything, the condo (and the ease of booking) the hotel (and its facilities) and the location. We can think of nothing that we disliked except maybe the flight over, ( If we can avoid flying United we will do). ”

“ This was my first time to Hawaii and to Oahu! After a lot of debate whether to go with a hotel room or a private rental, this condo seemed to be the perfect mix of both! It was also one of the more updated interiors with great finishes. The condo has everything we needed for cooking, for the beach and for living comfortably! It was true to the pictures and even had updated shower doors and is very open concept. The best things about the condo were the keyless entry and the lanai! You can come and go whenever you want without fumbling for a key or card to get in. There were also many rainbows you can see off the lanai and enjoy the water features from the deck while enjoying coffee. The Ilikai has a great bar & grill which was very affordable especially during happy hour. It also had traditional Hawaiian live music and fireworks on Friday! I loved the proximity to the aBC stores (convenience), Ala Moana mall, and how it is within walking distance to the heart of Waikiki. It is also easy to hop on the highway and go to any part of the island. Kat with aloha Condos was great with the reservation and answering any questions I had before the trip and during. The condo at the Ilikai was great and we wish we could have stayed there for many days after! We even found ourselves missing the condo for the few days while staying friend's at their house. We miss it already and would go back! ”

“ Being our first time to Oahu and not knowing where to stay we were excited that we were probably as close to the beach as possible without having to stay in a hotel. Ilikai 624 had everything we needed including beach chairs, towels and even a small cooler to tote our lunch to the beach or lagoon. Beautiful views of the ocean. Condo was very clean and conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. Was just far enough away from the overly crowded streets of the Waikiki Hotel strip. Even saw close up the filming of Hawaii Five-0 beside the Lagoon. Our kids loved snorkeling and paddle boarding in the calm waters of the lagoon. The Condo Management Team were awesome to work with and answered all our questions and concerns in a timely manner and most professionally. The keyless entry was a breeze. I would come back. ”

“ I must say I had the most amazing time in Hawaii this trip. The condo was incredible, not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The room itself was clean, convenient to shopping, and was great for the days when we wanted to just eat in. We saved a lot of money thanks to the full kitchen. We ate breakfast every morning on the lanai...great weather and view to start the morning off right! The check in was easy because there wasn't any! We did not have to wait in line or deal with the front desk. We went directly to the room unpacked our bags and went directly to the beach. They also have a little general store where you could get packets of condiments (ketchup, mustard, jelly, etc.) if you don't want to buy those things at the grocery store. I would recommend this condo to any and everyone looking for a great value, great location, and great view. The only thing I can slightly complain about was that parking was $25 a day. We had to pay upfront because we were not a hotel guest. I was not expecting that at well. Nonetheless, I got over it quickly when we got up to the room and realized I was on vacation in paradise! ”

“ This is our third summer in Hawaii. Each time we have rented a condo at the Ilikai and have been very happy. This condo had a great ocean and lagoon view from the lanai. Kitchen had all the conveniences except we could not get the coffee maker to work and there was no manual available. Wifi connection worked great. Bed was comfortable but seemed smaller than a queen and the sheets did not fit the bed well; either two flat sheets or the other set was not the right size. Loved the convenience of keyless entry. There was no access to the cleaning supplies and we stayed there for 13 nights with no ability to clean the floors or bathroom, that was a bit frustrating for us. Overall, our stay was very comfortable and convenient to surrounding restaurants and attractions. ”

“ I couldn't have been happier with our condo and I thought the Ilikai was definitely on the nicest part of the Waikiki Beach. Just a fabulous view when you came around the corner and saw the lagoon and the beach and the beach was much quieter at that end! Lots of good restaurants and music places and no homeless people like at the other end of the beach. Our room was great and plenty of space for three people. My 21 year old daughter and I shared the king bed and had plenty of room and my friend used the sofa bed and she said it was fine. The room divider provided privacy but you need to leave it a little bit open during the night to get the benefit of the a/c. The unit was attractive and was fully equipped - seems like it has been newly renovated. Nice sunsets from our room but we often weren't there at sunset time! I couldn't believe how quiet it was there, no street noise at all because we were on the ocean side of the building. I guess i would have to add that the a/c was kind of noisy but I didn't mind because not having it would have been way worse! All in all, the trip worked out really smoothly. Our contact, Rocco, at aloha Condo Rentals answered all my inquiries immediately which left me confident about the process. I loved the keyless entrance as well, nice not to have to keep track of keys. I would definitely go back there again. ”

Great apartment to Rent

Much more relaxing than staying in the Waikiki area but only a 15 mInute easy walk away. Condo 629 is fabulous with a great view over the Marina. The Condo is very well set up with every conceivable thing you need. Even beach chairs,towels, mats and a cooler bag. Decor is much better than shown on the website. Seems sofa and lounge have recently been recovered. Glasses and crockery look new. Only negative we found was Condo occupants are not allowed to use the beautiful hotel pool but must use an old 1960 style pool which is very crowded due to the number of Condos. Owners of the Condos should unite to update this pool and surrounds. Suggest they also negotiate with the hotel to allow their guests to pay to use the hotel pool. Sitting on the Lanai of 629 watching the sunset is something we will always remember until we return again. ”

I believe it's a Marriott property now. As such no one at the Ilikai Hotel has access to that property's facilities.

Clean, quiet and comfortable steps from Waikiki Beach

While it is on the far west end of Waikiki, we enjoyed the quiet it provided and we were always able to walk to anywhere we wanted to go in Waikiki. The views of the sunset over the ala Wai boat harbor were awesome! We did have a little bit of trouble with high speed internet access (which didn't bother the adults at all, but the teenagers in our family were a bit dissappointed). This is not a huge unit, but for the price we paid we don't think it can be matched in value. When we come to Oahu again, we plan to stay at unit 629! Thanks so much to Rocco for working with us on our early arrival. ”

“ The whole rental process was very easy. Everything, as described, was carried out and explained thoroughly. The condo we rented was exactly as described on the website. It was very clean and comfortable. It met our expectations and our needs for our first visit to Hawaii. The location was ideal for us because it was near the beach, close to shopping & restaurants as well as the bus & trolley lines. We enjoyed eating at the Ilikai Bar & Grill (on premises) and Wailana Coffee House, which is within a short walking distance from the Ilikai. Both restaurants provided good food along with reasonable prices. As a matter of fact, we ate at both places at least 3 times each. The hotel staff is very friendly and the concierge is quite helpful in assisting with booking tours or just to offer information. The best thing about our rental was the location. The Ilikai is away from a lot of the busyness of Waikiki and the lanai on provides a beautiful view of the sunsets overlooking the marina. It was also quiet inside the condo unless the sliding glass doors were open. Usually there was music playing late into the night from somewhere nearby. The site states that #629 would sleep 4 people, but I wouldn't recommend it. It might be comfortable for a couple plus a child, but not 4 adults. Overall, we were very pleased with the condo #629. ”

Our room had a great view of the ocean and marina. You could watch surfers every day from our lanai balcony. The room is real close to the elevators which is plus. The Beach is only a 5-10 minute walk from our hotel. Parking is available next door in a garage for $20 a day if you have a rent a car. The bar/restaurant in the lobby is very affordable and the food is great. Store in the hotel sells just about anything you need. We would definitely stay her again. ”

“ For our 2010 stay in Rocco's condo, we were impressed with the total presentation, and of course, location. The 2010 disappointment was the noise from the construction works in the grounds of the Ilakai Hotel. Since 2010, Rocco has maintained the property by re-uphostering the lounge chairs and bed furnishings, replacing the TV and installing new window curtains. The cleanliness upon arrival could not be faulted, The ongoing renovations around the Hotel continue, and having the painters on the lanai did not distract. Unfortunately, the WiFi connecting to the Hotel service is poor (1 Mbps). Rocco should consider installing a room service (LaN at 100Mbps or WiFi at 30+ Mbps)as we have in the condo we moved to after Rocco's (to enjoy the views from the other side of the Ilakai Hotel) ”

“ Really did enjoy this Hotel and Condo although it does need a little more TLC, some upgrading and painting. The furniture has been recovered, but the indoor chairs are showing wear and tear and the walls and bathroom door need some fill and paint. The bedspread was new but the sheets need replacing as they are worn and pilly. But the bed itself was very comfortable. Some pillows had blood stains on them, was glad I brought my own pillow. The cleaning staff could do a bit better job of cleaning the bathroom and kitchen sinks and the patio sliding door sills need a good cleaning as well. But all in all for the value it was very good. Loved the location and amenities nearby. ”

“ We (2 adults and 6 month old baby) stayed in Condo 629 while attending a meeting at the conference centre. The condo was clean, true to the pictures, and had everything we needed for our stay. The dishwasher was especially nice to have. The view from the condo was nice overlooking the courtyard and marina with easy access to the beach. The air conditioning was nice on the hot days. The conference centre is a 15-20 minute walk. Although there are aBC stores everywhere, a larger grocery store was close enough (about a 7 minute walk). This is as good as we expected for the price and location. We would definitely stay again if we need to return to the area. ”

This immaculate condo has stunning views of the harbor from the wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows. The condo and views looks just like the photos except the sofa and bedspread have been very nicely updated. The condo is very quiet and well-stocked. The bed was so comfortable. You can catch the trolley and the local bus right outside the door. Phone Honolulu transit for directions and times. It's an inexpensive, clean, comfortable way to get around the city. Check-in was very easy with the electronic keypad. The air-conditioning was quiet inside the apartment. There are fireworks on the beach on Friday nights. Valet was very helpful arranging a shuttle for the airport. Would highly recommend this condo and want to give a big thanks to the owners for providing us with such a great place to stay in Waikiki. ”

“ I took my elderly parents to Hawaii and wanted a place that was comfortable, affordable, and close to the beach and ala Moana Mall. Ilikai met all the criteria. It was my parent's first time at Illikai and they enjoyed their stay as the condo was like a 2nd home and a good size for all three of us. My parents took the king size bed and I had the pull-out sofa which was comfortable. It was nice to have a fully equipped kitchen and a big TV to watch the hockey games. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Overall we had a great stay, the only real downside was that the sofa sleeper was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep on the couch itself, which didn't make for a great nights sleep either. The king bed was very comfy though, so a great room for 2 people. It was very clean and the location was perfect. Everything was as the pictures showed. The condo could use some updated furniture and a new sofa sleeper. ”

“ This condo is central to all things Waikiki! The hotel is a short walk to the biggest shopping centre in Hawaii and to some of the nicest beaches too! For places a little further out, the trolley stops right outside your door, how's that for convenient. Access to the condo via electronic keypad was extremely convenient. Check-in was hassle free and no worrying about losing keys. The apartment itself was clean and fully equipt with everthing you would need to cook like you do at home. Loved the extra's such as tips on cheap car rentals and parking (we used these and saved a bundle) chairs and mats for the beach and sand toys for the kids. If I had to complain about anthing at all there would be only 2 things that prevented this from being absolutely perfect. 1 - the sofa bed is really uncomfortable (however we ended up putting the kids on this and taking the king bed which was very comfy & 2- water pressure in the shower was not the best and left my hair somewhat flat but all in all nothing that put a damper on our stay. I would recommend this condo for anyone looking for affordability in a 5 star location. The Hilton is right next door but 3 times the price (and doesn't have a kitchen). When we return to Hawaii we will deffinately return to this condo. Thanks Rocco, for being so helpful from the very start of our accommodation search to our return home. ”

Building across the street still undergoing renovation but, other than a slight eyesore, it did not bother us. This room was very quiet, no noises from adjacent rooms nor from outside. This is not in the heart of Waikiki, but only a 20 minute walk to the International Marketplace. We enjoyed being a bit away from the crowds and the extra walking was good for us. The only difficulty we encountered was with the $250 security deposit authorization on our credit card...seems the funds transferred out of our account but the owner shows no record of receiving funds on their account. Still working with banks to resolve, check your bank statements carefully if you book here. (I believe this is an honest "mistake," Rocco has been very responsive in working with us to resolve this issue. Other than that, we were very satisfied and would recommend this condo ”

We had just stayed at a condo in Seabrook Island and were so happy to see the little things that go along way such as coffee filters and salt, pepper, foil, and plastic wrap, that the condo in Seabrook did not have. I know this items seen small but when you go to do something such as cook its very nice to have the items at hand. The decor was wonderful and updated, the view fantastic. Go to the restaurant on the 30th floor, go for happy hour and and early bird dinner (a lot less expensive) the view is breathtaking!! One thing I hope the owners might add would be beach chairs, umbrella, and a small ice chest to use on the beach. Also a book with information such as where the grocery stores are and directions on how to get to them. I do hope we can return again. A special thanks to Cat who helped us out so much ”

“ Rental was clean and well taken care of. Cozy bed with nice sunset facing view, although a few buildings naturally get in the way. Located close to Aloha towers and chinatown. Very quite in the building and very private - no tourists mad dashing for the elevators. Owners are very attentive to your needs and respond quickly to your requests and questions. Just be aware of a few minor caveats: 1. Parking is not fun - must weave around to the 7th floor to get parking. If you don't make arrangements with owner to get a hand tag parking is very expensive. Hand tag parking only accepts cash so be prepared to shell out. Persoanlly owner should have a space in the garage and let you use it. Additionally, getting into the parking garage is a pain, so many one way streets, if you don't come straight down Bishop you are gonna be frustrated. Street noise is a problem in the morning. Bedroom needs real curtains, blinds don't keep the sun out so it is a great alarm clock in the morning. Although there is a Long's drug at the base of the building, it and most other businesses close early since you are downtown so plan ahead. The kitchen in the condo is small and slightly sparse, just a small cooktop, a microwave and a small toaster oven, but it was ok for light cooking. ONe other warning, this unit cannot really sleep 4 in my opinion. Thehre is one queen bed in the bedroom and a small swivel couch in the living room/kitchen - can't see how one person- let alone 2 could sleep in it. Fair price for what you get though and being downtown especially for business was a plus. ”

“ I used to live in Hawaii, including Oahu and like this location in Waikiki, so wanted to stay in the Ilikai. We are 2 adults and 1 kiddo and the couch/bed was perfect for the 3rd person. This unit is clean and amazingly stocked and we cooked most of our meals there. The Ilikai is a great location and building with plenty of amenities. We used the Valet parking which adds to the cost if you have a car, but well worth it as the crew is friendly and efficient. This unit is wonderful, it has an ocean view with partial marina and lagoon view as well, one can even watch the S-Th Hilton Starlight Luau from the balcony (Note: The Hilton's Friday night Firework show is insanely loud, reverberating off the Ilikai). The property manager Kathleen at aloha Condos/Hawaii Vacation Properties is also fantastic, so the booking, payment and other correspondance is all very easy and straightforward. The view was breathtaking since we were able to see the beach & the lagoon from our lanai/balcony :) Provided with chairs,table & some beach chairs for when we headed to the beach, perfect. Inside was nice decor to make us feel at home, kinda cool tropical feel. Very clean & the bed was comfortable & our two kids slept well & comfy on the futon with linen provided. Nice white clean towels in the bathroom, roomy bathroom with shower. extra toilet paper, soap. Nice little xtra's. The kitchen was great, we cooked a little with pans provided, kitchen utensils, plates, great for some quick home cookin. Big TV for when we did watch, everything worked nicely. Air conditioning worked well when we needed it. The location of the Ilikai is perfect! Great coffee shop downstairs with the freshest brew, just delish! The beach is right outside! great view once you get there of all of waikiki beach & in the distant you can see Diamond Head. The lagoon was great for kids, my kids lived in that lagoon & the ocean for 7 days and loved it. We were able to relax & lay out & enjoy ourselves as the kids played, no worries. We had drinks at the Ilkai bar/grill downstairs in the courtyard, such a nice view of the harbor & beach. The pool was very nice as well, not huge, but just fine. The pool attendants were very kind as we chatted up some talks about the island & great places to hike. Found great little store inside the Ilkai downstairs in the lobby, fair prices & little last minute needs such as drinks, juices, snacks & little fun gifts to bring home. The hotel lobby was very nice with great staff, friendly & always ready to answer some questions about local events or transportation.Can't wait to come back :) ”

Grocery stores are availabe near by and the Ilikai store is reasonably priced for last minute supplies. Easy walk down the beach to Beach walk and Lewers street. Only a 10-15 minute walk straight down ala Moana to the mall.Bus and trolley stops are right outside the hotel. Wailani Coffee Shop a great local coffee shop a short walk down ala Moana Blvd. I would definitely stay here again. ”

The unit has been updated and has all the amenities needed, with the exception of a washer/dryer. But who wants to do laundry on vacation? We found the unit to be very quiet. There is a view of the Hilton lagoon and Waikiki Beach. Easy walking to ala Moana Shopping Center and numerous restaurants to choose from. A Foodland market is also within walking distance and enabled us to cook a few meals during our stay. If one wants to rent a car there are 2 agencies right across the street. We really enjoyed that we could walk in, drop our bags and start to enjoy our vacation. ”

The room is well appointed with kitchen items, coffee maker, large fridge and cooktops. There were even cooler bags and beach mats and chairs. Other friends of ours were also staying at the condos and our room was the brightest and most homely of all. The actual building is so convenient to the trolley bus stop, Wailana coffee lounge and in very close walking distance to ala Moana shopping Centre and car rental. We cant wait to get back to room 828 and would highly recommend it to all. ”

Beautiful view facing East, so we got the morning sun and the view of the imposing Hilton tower right out our window. There was 3 of us, and I got the futon to sleep on. Both mattresses left us desiring a little more comfort. The futon mattress is pretty hard/stiff/firm. The first night we also had to get used to the indoor air conditioning and heat from outside. We found by closing the patio door, that it got too cold. The only provided blanket for the futon was this very wafer-thin synthetic microfiber sheet/blanket that didn't provide any warmth. My sister, who always complains that it's too hot, actually complained that it was too cold as well. So the next night, we opened the patio doors about 1-2 feet, so we got the air-conditioning, along with the hot, warm humid air from outside. It seemed to work. The internet access via wi-fi was a pleasant surprise, as most hotels will say they have wifi access, then charge you an outrageous fee per day. My sister had her ipod, and it was fantastic being able to search restaurants and things on the internet while staying here. Although we mainly visited restaurants for eating out including Dukes and restaurants in the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door, the kitchen was well used. We stored drinks in the fridge, and used the microwave for heating up food. My sister even made omelettes one morning with a drink using the blender. There was no bath, just a shower, but it is a nice shower. My only critique would be that the shower head shoots out the water powerfully like little spikes, and there is no way to adjust it. Getting the TV to work, and to simply change the channel was very confusing. There are 3 remotes. My sister and I had alot of trouble getting them to work. It was only by fluke we got it working in time to watch the Royal Wedding. ”

The walls are freshly painted with a very nice, cool beige. The condo is immaculate and the marina view is spectacular. The entry instructions are easy and with the automatic lock on the door, you don't have to worry about losing any keys while at the beach. By the way, the beach is literally just a few minutes walk and you don't even have to cross the street. The Ilikai building itself is on the same side of the ocean, which is a big plus. The Ilikai Bar & Grill is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch on the way to the beach at a reasonable price. There is also a local coffee shop that recently opened on the lobby floor and the restaurant, Sarento's on top of the Ilikai is a great dinner place with an expansive view of Waikiki, Diamond Head and Honolulu. On Friday nights, the outdoor lobby/lanai has Hawaiian music and a hula show for the guest's entertainment. There is even a fireworks show that shoots off from the lagoon. Everyone was friendly and the property manager answered any questions I had promptly. Best of all is the stunning sunset view from the 833 lanai. For the location, price, view and condition, this condo is a 5 star gem! ”

On the Independance Day, we could see fabulous fireworks on our lanai whitout waiting outside for a long time. The building was very secure and we could use free wifi in our room. Just the construction noise from next building for the new swimming pools annoyed us when we stayed in the condo during the day, but it was almost finished when we had to leave. The location of the condo was also excellent. We could walk to the ala moana shopping center for shopping or our meals. Just across the street, there was Mcdonald and aBC store and also many nice restaurants. The rent-a- car office was across the street, taxis were always waiting in front of the building and the tour buses also came there for pick-up. We also stayed in Hilton Hawaiian Village for two nights and also liked the place, but Ilikai was a good value. ”

From the start the process was very straight forward and Kathaleen Petron was very helpful in answering questions, explaining the rental process and always responded when we contacted her. The condo met all of our family's needs and accommodated our 3 kids very well. It was great to have the 2 bathrooms, as we could allocate one to the teenage boys! The condo is tastefully furnished and was comfortable. We loved having the 2 lanais and enjoyed many meals outside. We were able to prepare many meals with ease in the well supplied kitchen. The condo is perfectly located and allowed for easy access to local activities and the beach. The services available at the Ilikai provided everything we could need and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The first floor shops were very convenient as was the nearby aBC store. It was a reasonable walk to buy grocery items at the Don Quijote store. We enjoyed the bar and grill as well. It was especially helpful to have the keypad on the door. It was great to be able to have the teenagers have easy access and not have to worry about them losing a key. The only critiques we could have is that we wished for more towels and face cloths for the number of guests. We did towels in the convenient laundry room twice during our stay. Also although beach towels and mats were provided, several of the mats are in poor condition and therefore we did not use them. A few more beach towels would have been helpful as well. Overall we had a wonderful vacation and would recommend this rental unit highly. We plan to return to the island next year and will not hesitate to contact Kat again for the rental. ”

“ Most exciting stay ever in Hawaii,we had a wonderful time,good direction to get there just go up to the 11th floor and tap in your code that's it, its as easy as that,if you have any problems just go to the front desk job done or you can ring direct from the phone in the condo its free local calls and your agent will be there for you, the condo has everything you would need from a fully fitted kitchen to the shower in the bathroom ,the double bedroom is great if its privacy you need but if you want the better view then go for the twin bed option, you have the full view of the bays small boat harbour with the Pacific Ocean as a back ground, the lounge has a 42" TV with all the channels you would need and if you've gone for the twin bed option you have your own TV in there too, if you want your breakfast on the balcony then its there, its home from home, the food store is just 5 minuets away and holds most if not all your needs, restaurants are just around the corner and are very good, if you like Lobster then be prepared to pay Lobster prices but overall most are very reasonable with lots to eat, look out for the special offers they can save you a lot, Ilikai Hotel has its own laundry station on each floor, they can be costly if you do a lot of washing and or drying $2.50 per load so take change and go to the store and buy your soap powder, the air conditioner can be noisy at night so turn it down as much as you can or better still turn it off if you can stand the heat and have a great stay ”

The condo was comfortable for the 6 of us, three adults and three children. Eating on the lani every morning was a joy.The kitchen was well equipped, plenty of towels and beach towels. We plan to rent this condo again.Negative is the Iiikai Hotel's unit garbage pick up. Every unit disposes of their garbage in a central location on each floor. No problem with this but the garbage pick up by hotel is not done in a timly minor and the whole are smells. Also, cockroaches outside the building near the grill and coffee shop in the evennings. With the garbage laying around the cockroaches outside,I see this as a problem. ”

When we walked in we felt like it was our home away from home immediately. The space was light and bright, clean, and comfortable. My family and I were there for 5 nights-6 days and we just had the best time. We had lots of extended family also staying in different rooms at the Ilikai at the same time. Our room quickly became the family hub to chill out, enjoy snacks and meals, and catch up. The beds were comfortable, both bathrooms were large, clean, and spacious. Lots of fresh towels/ beach towels stocked in cabinet in bathroom. They even provided laundry baskets for each bathroom. And I loved that we had a vacuum to clean up after coming back from the beach. The kitchen was very well stocked with glasses, plates, mugs, etc...everything you would need to put a nice simple meal together or reheat leftovers. There were two strong a/C units wells spaced apart in the room to keep the temperature comfortable at all times. There is a combination pad to get in and out of the room which was great (no key needed)!! Only thing that wasn't "great" was wifi connection. But while on vacation...it is nice to unplug :o) Would definitely stay there if in Waikiki again. For those of you planning to do a bit of shopping on the main retail spots keep in mind it is a 15-20 minutes walk from condo. Its a beautiful walk but may be worth catching a shuttle in front of condo (5-7 minute ride to shops :) But for drinking water, snacks, etc. there is a great little convenient store in the lobby of the Ilikai and large aBC store kitty corner from the condo. Had the best time!! ”

The views are great, however our older kids would have preferred to be closer to "the action" which was a good 20 minute walk away, although well served by public transport. The hotel swimming pool is clean and functional, lacking the wow factor of adjoining hotels, however there are plans to upgrade it. We did spend a reasonable amount of time in and around the pool area. There appeared to be a wi-fi black spot in the lounge area, although reception was fine in other parts of the apartment (e.g. around the kitchen and in the main bedroom). This was not a problem once we understood where we needed to sit to get good internet access. I would have no hesitation recommending the apartment and would certainly consider it again if returning to Waikiki. ”

Lots of transport options straight outside the Hotel, what more could you want? We enjoyed coming home and enjoying the great view from the lanai over the marina - perhaps some outside lighting would enhance this? My only slight annoyance was the poor wifi connection - due to location I think, however, you could get around this by taking your laptop downstairs to the lobby or coffee shop where the reception was perfect. We admired the pool from upstairs, and it was only towards the end of the stay, we discovered this pool belonged to the hotel next door, sadly the pool of the Ilikai was a disappointment. All in all, we had a great stay and would recommend this condo highly. ”

Downsides to the unit are the fact that there's a lot of street noise with the windows open (including night-time construction outside when we stayed), and the second "bedroom" is just partitioned off, with a partition that doesn't latch; this was ok for our teenagers, but wouldn't offer privacy. Also, the modem was flaky, periodically cutting out the internet. ”

Good and not so good of Iliikai 1110

No sugar, cooking oil. 2) layout was comfortable for family. Table, couches, TVs and cable in bedroom and family room. 3) location. Within walking distance of just about every thing in Waikiki. 4) cleanliness. Reasonably clean (not great but good). Bad: 1) Only one bedroom, not two as stated in adds. The other sets of beds are not in their own room, but behind a pull across privacy screen--no separate air conditioning no isolation. This is false advertising and the management company should be taken to task over this. This is a very big negative. I would not have rented in if I knew this in advance. 2) Carpets. We were asked to not wear our shoes on the carpet. This was a real pain, especially with a 2 year old. The carpet is old and looks shabby, needs to be replaced. 3) the wireless did not work. 4) not enough dish washer soap for the stay. L 5) the Ilikai does not allow alcohol outside of the bar and grill. 6) even this is at a hotel, you do not have access to all the hotel privileges. ”

The website for Ilikai 1110 has pictures, video and text describing the condo in great detail. The 2nd bedroom with 2 twin beds is shown with the divider door.

There are 2 air conditioners that allow for different settings between the 2 bedrooms.

If a guest has wireless internet connection trouble they only need to plug in the Ethernet cable to the modem to get Internet immediately. Unit instructions provide the wireless password. Our Local Contact Person is available to answer any questions.
The Contact number is also provided in the instructions.

Amenities (dish washing liquid, dishwasher soap, sponge, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, pen and notepad, map) provided are intended as a starter set. The unit is not stocked with condiments. There is a store on the lobby level and other stores within a short walk that are listed in the visitor Information posted on the door.

All of our units are professionally cleaned after every check out and each unit is checked for cleanliness and maintenance issues.
On our instructions, we ask our guests to notify us about any concerns so we can correct them immediately. The white plush carpet is regularly cleaned by a professional carpet cleaning company. Because we care about the carpet's condition, we kindly ask that the Hawaiian tradition of removing shoes at the door be observed.

Consumption of alcohol is only allowed in the guest's condo or in the 2 restaurants and bars. One is located on the top of the tower with a sweeping view of the coast and city. The other is on the lobby level. Our registered guests have access to every Ilikai area and service except the bell hop and gym.

We encourage our guests to contact us before, during and after their stay if they have any questions.

The location is fantastic, right at the end of Waikiki beach, footsteps away from the Hilton Lagoon and the ocean itself. The views from the decks (lanais) were fantastic. We saw some amazing sunsets, a guy in robes blowing a conch shell daily, and had a great view of the upscale pool/bar areas next door (which we checked out in the evenings). The condo was big, open, with tons of natural sunlight. Overall it was a great value compared to other beachfront Waikiki options. Only gripes: cleaning fee seemed high (but still overall a great value), the condo could use more lighting, especially around the dining table (very minor nit pick), the internet seemed slow/spotty sometimes (not sure how much they can do about that). Also, the instruction sheet could specify where garbage/recycling is. (We found it, though.) One last thing -- we found out late in our trip that the hotel & marina outside were used to film many memorable scenes from the TV show lost. If you're a fan, it's another yet reason to stay here. (Search the web for sites that go through the Oahu lost locations to see which were filmed at the Ilikai and the marina/harbor. There were some very memorable ones.) ”

There were several couples staying in various locations but we would often gather here to share meals, talk story and admire the view overlooking the marina, ocean and wonderful sun sets straight out in front of us. The master bedroom with its own bath situated to the back end of the unit was nice, cozy and private and had a separate balcony. And, as we played hard during the day, it was great to have a nice comfortable king bed to sleep in and get rejuvenated. The unit appeared fresh and well kept, and with that I am not sure I want to recommend it for others to use because we want to return to its fresh condition and keep it a best kept secret of the Ilikai. The only recommended improvements would be the draw string vertical overlap louvered curtains and the air con units are a little noisy. ”

The view is spectacular plus Friday fireworks and Luau from Hilton next door was a bonus. We use the beach chairs and coolers to go the beach everyday plus took with us when we drive around the island. Rice cooker and coffee maker was great because we make coffee every morning and cook rice everyday. We shop for groceries, food at china town and walmart. The view was great and the location was perfect. Of course, it is not on the beachfront, but it is the next best thing. It is a short walk to the beach in front of the Hilton. The Hilton lagoon is open to the public...perfect for a relaxing swim or for kids to play. And the ala Moana Beach Park (highly recommended) is a longer walk, but still doable if you're not carrying too much. The bus stops right at the corner next to the building so everything is more or less convenient. The service was good. All questions were answered in a timely manner and the room had everything we needed. The bed is comfortable, the linens in good supply, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Being on the 11th floor was no problem. There are plenty of elevators and they run very quickly. One unexpected advantage of the room was that we could watch the luau on the rooftop of the Hilton every night from our lanai! It was a little loud sometimes, but nothing that closing the door didn't block out. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. If we decide to stay in Waikiki again, we will certainly try to book this condo. ”

Having a kitchen in the condo was fantastic as we were able to walk to Wal Mart and get some general supplies for those times we didn't feel like eating out. Our only criticism of the condo would be the air conditioning. Whilst it wasn't too hot in Hawaii during our stay the air conditioner still needed to be on and was very noisy. The kitchen and bathroom in the condo is dated but still comfortable and clean. Having access to things like beach towels, mats, chairs, cooler etc was really great! ”

“ From beginning to end, every need was met. We were glad we had a harbor view. That is why we picked Unit 1304. Everything we needed was in the condo. The only "problem", for lack of a better word, was that at first we thought the only place to purchase food was an aBC store, where milk is $10 a gallon; however, we found Food Land after a couple of days, which was much more affordable. We didn't eat at the condo that much, but we preferred to spend our $$$ on activities instead of food from a "minit market". The staff was very attentive. We had a five-hour gap from check out until our plane left, and the bellmen were more than glad to store our luggage for a nominal fee so that we could make one last spin to the shops and to eat before we headed to the airport. He even scheduled ourshuttle to the airport. Bring lots of "tip" money. The Ilikai is perfectly located if you like to walk, which we did. We could be in the hub of things in five minutes. Our unit was clean and nicely decorated. It was very quiet, too, but the best part is the million dollar view. It's not the fanciest hotel/condo, but all services that are offered at the high end hotels were offered to us at the Ilikai. ”

Perfect location for condo, and a very quiet floor, unit is pretty sound proof, can not hear other tenants through the walls or ceiling. Supplies are plentiful in the unit, coffee filters, laundry detergent, linens, beach towels, beach chairs and a great little kitchen with whatever cooking utensils and appliances you may need. No need to bring your hairdryer, their's is just fine. Also a bill changer by front desk for washer and dryer located a few units from 1304. See the concierge early in your stay,to book activities so you will not be disappointed. Have breakfast at the Wailana coffee shop, pancakes are terrific with coconut syrup-did Ihop once and back to Wailana. Also Shorebird in the Outrigger is great for breakfast as they look right over the beach and have a great breakfast buffet, check for the coupons in "This week Oahu".This unit is best enjoyed with 1 couple, it would be quite crowded with more than 2 people. There is a sofa bed, but very close quarters concerning privacy issues if more than 2 people. On the lanai there are aluminum sliding sun shades, use them in the afternoon to shade the lanai, works great in the cooling of the lanai. The hotel bar and grill is good to. Find a tour to the north Shore, much to see there and check out the Byodo-in Temple, it is a scale replica of a 900 y/o temple in Japan. If snorkeling, try Ocean Joy Cruises, great catamaran and if you don't see dolphins (guaranteed) you can go for another cruise-book early in your stay, so you will have opportunity to go again,(free) sometimes the dolphins are sleeping! View Hilton fireworks on Friday evening from Ilikai courtyard. ”

It had a nice condo-like feel with a good view on the 13th floor of the marina and beautiful sunsets, although no beach view really. The location was great for exploring Waikiki which we drove to a few times and also walked to a few times since it didn't take too long. Could walk to a good beach directly via hotel beach access, but we ended up using some of the other beaches anyway. Minor issue I had was parking which is not included, I would recommend parking at the marina which was something like $15 every 24 hrs. I would say if you want an affordable stay near the main strip of Waikiki, then I recommend this place! ”

Everything about the place was extremely homely & well presented. Although I don't cook whilst on holiday the kitchenette is well kitted out for anyone who does. The view from the lanai is beautiful & could just lie in the comfy bed looking out at the the ocean. Also has a good view of the luau from the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door. The Ilakai itself is approx 10 mins walk from The aloha Mona shopping centre & 15 mins from Waikiki centre, although the facade of the hotel is dated, the inside although not luxurious is very pleasant. The food served at the grill, is american run of the mill but well priced. plenty of other restaurants / bars in the area.The pool an average size for hotels in Waikiki but be there early if wanting a sun lounger. The condo is suitable for a couple or family with one child & represents good value for money. My booking went extremely smoothly & I would definitely recommend condo1416. ”

So for a weekend it would be OK but for two weeks it was living out of the suitcase - not what we wanted at $165 a night. Also there are NO lamps by the sofa so if you want to read at night you have to sit on the bed! The kitchen is poorly equipped - it would be impossible to make a meal but the Aloha agent was wonderful and got us matching wine glasses and cups so we could have friends over. On arrival there was only a couple of mismatched glasses and cups. We had hoped to play tennis, the Ilikai used to have several courts, now only one and rarely free. There is no longer a coffee shop in the hotel and the elevator service was poor. All in all we would consider a unit at the Ilikai again but only one with a place for out clothing! ”

“ Good service from the taxi from the airport,shops and restaurants right through to the Island Express Shuttle ride back to the airport. Condo 1424 was ideal for us (2),comfortable with good amenities for us to prepare own food if required. Nice and clean with a great view. Very central for our holiday requirements (close to shops and beach and a million aBC Stores) The laundry was real handy (just have sufficient quarters for the machine which the Ilikai Hotel reception will oblige with). The staff and concierge were all helpful and friendly. We also booked our Pearl Harbour through the concierge. The location of the Ilikai Hotel/Condos were ideal for us as we could escape the bustle (and hustle) of Waikiki. We found when walking in the CBD there that slowing down in front of brochure cabinets was not good as trip and happy hour sellers seemed to spring out of nowhere. Maybe we had "Tourist" stamped on our forheads. Still all part of the experience. Also the beach is not as busy at the Ilikai end. The Lagoon and Friday Fireworks are a must. Will definitely plan to stay at or near condo 1424 next visit. ”

“ We stayed at 1424 for 10 days and it was awesome. My friend stayed next door at the hilton and I am so glad we stayed here. We looked at staying at the hilton but it would have been at least $250 a night and that is with no kitchen. By staying in 1424 we saved $100 a night plus all the food that we cooked in the room. We were still able to look around the hilton, which wasn't anything special. It's very overcrowded there. At the ilikai the pool is nothing special but for our 10 month old it was perfect. Especially for the fact that she ate sand every time we went to the beach. Also for the fact that it was not crowded.everyone just wanted to sun tan on the chairs. It was only once we could t find any chairs but that's because we got there midday. We made a Walmart stop at the beginning of our holiday and got most of our groceries. Its just north of ala moana shopping centre. I reccomend that you get your produce from the markets as Walmart doesn't have any produce. The view from the room is amazing. It has a huge lanai(balcony) on it. You can see the luau almost every night. But you can not see the fireworks. I am glad we were there for two Fridays because the first Friday I went by someone's review and missed the whole firework show. We saw a couple whales and a bunch of dolphins by zooming in with my video camera from the balcony which was really cool. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. There is all the posts and pans you will need. There is a blender. Kay was very accommodating and made sure that we had everything. Thank you for the amazing holiday. We will be back soon. ”

Parking worked fine whether I used the in house valet or the public parking behind behind the building. There was always space available. My only complaint would be that 1424 was not available for the rest of my stay. For my next trip back to Oahu my first order of business will be to book Ilikai 1424. All I can say is if 1424 is available, book it!! ”

Beleive me, I'm not complaining.:) I was very pleased with the prompt actions taken by Kat. Had a few minor questions that were answered in a very short time. This is always appreciated when on vacation. Mahalo Kat for your professionalism. Very much appreciated. Washer/Dryer down the hall worked well. Be sure to get a roll of quarters, this is enough to do two loads of laundry at $2.50 each. A change machine would be a nice added convenience. Oh, nice to have seen security guards making their rounds on the property. Made me feel safer coming in at a later hour at night. The scenery from this room is perfect. Watched the surfers do their thing! Very enjoyable. Perfect for having breakfast on the lanai. No morning sun on you but this is what makes it comfortable. Fireworks every Friday night. Spectacular show that can be seen from the balcony. What more can I say but I'm hoping to be back some time soon. Cel ”

The lanai was ideal for meals in, but the Ilikai Bar and Grill was cheap and good for eating out. The location was also fantastic. Close to everything yet out of the way. The kids loved the paddle boards, paddle boats and canoes in the lagoon which was a quick commute next door. Car rental is right across the street so there was no need to keep one the entire time and it was easy to find the cheap parking out behind the hotel. Thank you to Kat for answering my questions and for making this such a great vacation. We will be back! Ps-the free luau you get to watch next door from the lanai Sunday through Thursday is a crackup. Grab a cocktail and enjoy for free! ”

There's a lot of different parking options but we went with the hotel valet which was kind of steep, but well worth every penny...very convenient at the end of a long evening or adventure filled day. My only suggestion would be to have another mirror somewhere outside of the bathroom. We were there for a friend's wedding so getting ready with 1 mirror was tough, but the bathroom is very roomy so it worked out well anyway. We had some friends over 1 evening and they were impressed with the condo too. Communication with the owner was easy and she made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. I would definitely stay there again! ”

Unlike many newer balconies that are designed without cross-bars, the balconies at the Ilikai can be climbed on by an active toddler. The swimming pool at the Ilikai is adequate, but the lagoon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village is just a few steps away and is wonderful. Rocco was attentive to our needs and incredibly responsive when we had questions. We would definitely stay there again. ”

The Ilikai is a great location, not right in the noise of Waikiki central but close enough to walk, catch The Bus or a cab and be there in minutes. The condo has a gorgeous view of the Hilton lagoon and the ocean, It is only a very short walk to the beach and all it has to offer. The condo was nicely appointed,decorated and well equipped. The Ilikai is currently undergoing significant renovation to it's main pool and one condo block, this is well screened off and most of the courtyard is still accessible , lit up, gardens well kept. The Friday night activities and BBQ that precede the fireworks is well worth a look. We would definitely rent this condo again. Cheers ”

Amazing View of Waikiki from the Lanai

“ Amazing view of Waikiki beach from the 15th floor lanai of Ilikai 1511. Very tasteful and refurbished lobby area with a general store, coffee shop, restaurant and other amenities. The condo is nicely decorated and clean. In my opinion, the condo is more of a large studio instead of a 1 bedroom because there is no wall or door to the bedroom, but it looks like all 1 bedrooms in the Ilikai are arranged like this. There is a shoji screen that does provide some privacy. There is also a sleeper sofa that can sleep one person comfortably. There is no dishwasher but good refrigerator and stove, and fully equipped kitchen. The laundry facilities are across the hall. The bathing elevator is directly next to the condo but we didn't notice any unusual noise. Perfect space for 2 or 3 people, but tight for 4 unless the sofa bed is changed. Only annoying thing was the wall air conditioning unit that blows directly onto the bed. We had to divert the air because it felt like sleeping in a wind tunnel. The owner and management are very responsive. Loved staying here! ”

“ My husband, son and I stayed for 5 nights. My 22 yr old son slept on the leather futon bed and was quite comfortable. Even though the check in time was 3pm, we got to the condo at 1:30pm and was able to get in with no problem. I love the fact that no key or card is needed to open the door. So, one less item to worry about. The Pink Trolley which stops right in front of the hotel took us all around Waikiki for $2 per person one way to shopping centers and restaurants. We enjoyed taking walks around the lagoon which we can see from the balcony. We appreciate the many different options for meals at the Ilikai, Hilton and Modern hotels next door and within walking distance around the neighborhood. Suggestion for minor improvement: Get a new hair dryer, have liquid soap at the bathroom sink and shower, a sponge and dish detergent for kitchen. Loved our stay at The Ilikai #1512

My husband and I travelled with our 2 children aged 17 & 11, so I was a little worried about having enough space in a 1 bedroom condo. However this place was perfect for us. It's in a great location with an easy walk to both the ala Moana Mall and the busy Waikiki hotel/restaurant district. We got coffee each morning from the cafe downstairs and sat on the balcony looking at the fabulous view. I really liked how there were beach chairs etc for guest of the condo to use. I would recommend this condo to anyone, I think it's great value and the owner was extremely easy to deal with. The only negative thing about our stay was the lady who 'ran' the pool each morning. She was consistently rude to people, however not the condo owners fault, but someone needs to have a word with her! We simply walked the 2 mins to the lagoon and swam there instead. I would stay here again if I return to Oahu. ”

We stayed at the condo for ten days and everything we needed was there from condiments in the kitchen to beach boogie board in the lanai . The location is perfect near to almost every activity and shopping excursion you might undertake. Everything in the condo was in perfect working order and comfortable, but I must say that kitchen is quite the gem. The kitchen has anything you might need from popping a bag of popcorn to making a full breakfast. Do not worry about taking anything . Ms. Santos has decked out that kitchen with everything you might need. I was most impressed with the cleanliness of the condo. As I was looking at the website I made my decision based on the furnishings of each unit, as if I were going to buy the place! Some had ugly furniture and non-updated kitchens. This place was great and had new appliances, a full size fridge, granite countertops and a breakfast bar. The bathroom was updated - large shower stall, but no tub, low profile toilet, and a single sink vanity. Minimal counterspace, but was able to use the linen closet for my toiletries. Fantastic view of the lagoon and we were able to watch the Hilton's nightly Luau from the lanai. A leather sofa sleeper in the living room, along with two chairs. The sliding shoji screens separating the sleeping area from the living area didn't go all the way to the ceiling, but they served their purpose. Had to make a trip to Don Quijote to purchase full size bar of soap and additional toilet paper; a box of Kleenex would have been nice. A little strange to dump your own garbage and no daily housekeeping service. I would definitely stay in this unit again. ”

Every morning went down to the beach for a walk (there's a boardwalk along the way.) Location of the Ilikai is great, right on the city bus line, plus stores are across the street and the Aloha Shopping Center is within walking distance. Parks nearby, too. Hotel lobby was in good condition. Five elevators and no problems. The only drawback is the unit is located near the elevators and the mechanical room. If you are noise sensitive, that could be an issue. The fan speeds drop way down later in the night and then everything becomes very quiet. I slept with the lanai door open and that helped with other "white noise" and all went well after that. Since you're on the 15th floor, it should be safe to leave the lanai door open until it gets more quiet. (My brother and sister-in-law stayed in another unit and stopped by. They are not noise sensitive and could not hear the fans!) Otherwise, the unit was wonderful and it was very convenient to be close to the elevators and laundry room in the hotel. Very private, too. ”

We barely left dust during our stay to warrant such a charge. There are many hotels that we could have stayed in for the same amount that offer daily cleaning and are situated much closer to the action of Waikiki. ”

“ Telling everyone about condo unit 1512 is like telling everybody about your favorite fishing spot - something you'd rather keep a secret but it's too good not to spread the word!! The condo was better than we expected and better than advertised. The view was spectacular, the unit immaculate and handy to laundry facilities, garbage disposal and elevators. Lots of storage and many conveniences in the kitchen i.e. blender, microwave, corkscrew etc etc. It's a mild exercise to walk to the beach and the main tourist areas, however that neck of the woods is a little quieter and has the Outback Steakhouse and Red Lobster close by and the Ala Moana Shopping Centre is only a 10 minute walk. Other reviews we have read on this unit have referred to a noisy fan behind the kitchen wall; we found this a non-issue as some 'white' noise is relaxing and probably helped us sleep! Unfortunately we must recommend this condo (but please don't everybody book it up solid for the future - we want to go back!) !!! Thank you Eleanor...it was a dream holiday! ”

“ This was a very nice condo ~ more worn (privacy screen was in need of repair, but we did not use it)than we expected but in very good shape overall. The view from the deck is splendid. There was plenty of bedding available, as well as beach towels. Having an internet connection was a very nice perk. The smoke alarm battery died & the unit would not shut off even when battery was removed (electric) and the owner's people were very good about coming to replace the battery - actually we replaced it to "shut it up" and we were reimbursed for this expense. There is no dishwasher, but we ate out or at our daughter's larger condo so this was not an issue for us. The livingroom area could use a ceiling fan. There was a sand chair in closet, a boogie board & a beach umbrella but they were all broken. All in all we had a very nice week in this condo, and I would recommend it. We were disappointed in the $120 cleaning fee, as other relatives were not charged or paid a lesser amount. Would check more closely on this cost next time. ”

It was also centrally located to anything that one may need. The room was fully stocked with everything needed for the stay; towels, beach towels, kitchen utensils, etc. There are also books and DVDs for down time. Our only complaint would be the parking. There is no "free" parking. There is free daily parking by the beach but its not overnight, hourly parking across the street (25 cents an hour)by the harbor or valet parking at the hotel for $25 a day. We opted for valet parking as the easiest and least stressful. Plus, with valet parking, you can pull right up and empty your trunk. The backside of the hotel offers only stairs. However, we would definetely stay again if we return to Hawaii. ”

The owner, Eleanor, even surprised us with a bottle of champagne as an anniversary gift! Highly recommend this unit! ”

Great apartment in between Waikiki and Ala Moana

The apartment was big enough for 3 adults with a king size bed and sofa bed. The kitchen had all required appliances available. Bathroom was a good size with shower, not a bathtub. There is balcony that looks over the back of the hotel facing the ocean. There is partial ocean view as the balcony also faces the back of another hotel. Location is ok - it's about 20 mins walk from Waikiki beach (which is quite long - Ilikai is on one end of Waikiki). It is 10 mins walk to Ala Moana, the main shopping complex. Easy to get to the bus stops at Ala Moana. Coffee places, convenience store and restaurants are all near Ilikai. I enjoyed the apartment, it's very comfortable for long term stay. It made me feel at home. ”

Nice furnishings, modern, bright - lovely view of the lagoon and Pacific Ocean from a balcony with a privacy shield. Fully equipped and clean kitchen - immaculate bathroom. We all would return. BUT REMEMBER: you are renting a condo that is located in an old hotel. All of the shops on the main floor were closed accept a small food store that was extremely overpriced. No restaurants/gift stores etc. You will not receive any assisance from Hotel Staff. Parking is extremely overpriced for condo rentors. You are not welcome at the pool. Yes you can use it but the other owners will not make you feel welcome. ”

“ We are so glad you enjoyed the view from our condo. We appreciate your comment in your extended review "Most likely, I would recommend this accommodation to my best friend!" We wish, however, that you had let us know of the things that did not meet your expectations. We have a local contact who is available most any time who could have addressed most of your needs. We have multiple good quality king size sheet sets and extra pillows of varying firmness. If our contact had known you were unhappy with those items they could have provided you with other choices. They also could have shown you our 10 cup rice cooker and a large selection of good bake ware and cookware. After your check out and review, housekeeping checked and found that the rice cooker was there. We keep it in the cabinet under the eating bar with all the cookware. I'm so sorry you did not find it. Thank you for your comment on the cutlery. We will check into getting a new set the next time we are at our condo. We are sorry and surprised that you expected a bath tub as the Ilikai condos do not have bathtubs in them. They were built with showers only. I believe there may be a few that the owners put a bath tub in many years ago but they are no longer allowed. The Ilikai is quite an icon in Waikiki. It was the very first Condo-Hotel concept in the country. We had our furniture made for us 5 years ago choosing that style to preserve the original tropical feel of The Ilikai and Old Hawaii. We are sorry that you didn't care for it.

The only constructive criticism I have is the cushions to the couches are in desperate need of cleaning, the carpet could use a cleaning as well, and the bottom sheet to the pull-out have a few small holes. The morning view was fantastic and the beach was a mere few minute walk away. An easy walk to the mall, plenty of places nearby to eat (Red Lobster, Kobe Steak House, and Buffalo Wild-wings were my favorites). The only thing that could have made it better would be to convert the room across the hall to an observation room so you could view the sunset! Excellent view of the fireworks across the lagoon on Friday night! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone who is considering it! ”

Ample storage. Kitchen well equipped. Great to have use of wireless internet and free local calls. We were treated to a hula show on the roof of the hotel next door almost everynight as well which was great! The only challenge for us was that our children are young and easily woken so once they were in bed we needed to be very quiet and minimise the lighting as there was only a thin sliding door between the bedroom and the rest of the apartment. The apartment isn't newly renovated but this doesn't matter. It is light and bright and has everything you need. Nice view of the water off to the right. A great way to wake up each day! Great to have the kitchen facilities particularly with children. Our preferred grocery shop was The Pantry about 10 mins walk away. Fresh food and salads and some brands from home. We also tried Foodland (a small Woolies or IGa in Oz) but didn't think it was as good. Don Quiyote is also meant to be great but we didn't manage to get there. We would stay in the apartment again if it was the two of us. A great affordable option with all the added features you don't get in a hotel room. Lastly the owners were lovely and great to deal with - they responded to questions very quickly and provided lots of good advice. Thank you Sue and Terry for a great holiday! We loved it. ”

Since check out time is 11:00am and check in is 3:00pm. our housekeepers only have 4 hours to get the room ready for the next guest when we have back to back reservations. It has a fabulous view of the lagoon and ocean, is right next door to the beautiful Hilton Village, is across the street from 3 well-known restaurants, is 2 blocks from the biggest outdoor shopping mall, and 3 blocks from a large movie theater, and bus service is right in front of the hotel. The condo is clean, has a nice, well equipped kitchen, 4 bar stools, couch, chair, and flat-screen TV. The screen between the bedroom and living area is very nice and convenient. It has all the necessities of home. It was nice and easy to have a "code" for the door rather than having to use a card all the time. The only negative thing I could say was that maybe the TV could have had more channels than the basic ones, but we are used to 200 at home! The Ilikai is also a bus ride away from downtown Wakiki where there are great restaurants, hotels, great shops, and an international market. What a WONDERFUL place this is to forget your troubles and enjoy life to the fullest! ”

The wall of windows allow for great people watching and your view of the ocean is great. We saw the Hilton luau each night with ease and were close enough to hear the music and the story line! The owners provide everything you could possibly want or need during stay in the condo. The building itself is beautiful and i never felt unsafe once. The staff is always visible and making improvements. There is also security in the lobby if needed. The location is great and you can walk in either direction out the front door and find reasonable food, entertainment, and necessities. I would recommend that you find a trolley schedule/guide upon arrival as they pass by the hotel every 10 minutes and can make getting to other locations much more fun and interesting as well as allowing for a unique tour experience! Pack your sunscreen and expect the rest to be handled in 1530! WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!! ”

If it was mine, I would get rid of some of the extra pillows and flowers, etc. It is small enough that they just get in the way. Although there is an assortment of beachchair type things, they are all heavy and bulky enough to discourage anyone from taking them to the beach a second time. However, these are very minor annoyances and I would definitely stay there again. ”

Wonderful anniversary Vacation

“ We stayed at Ilikai Hotel Condo 1540 for our 5 year anniversary at the end of april. The unit was wonderful and very clean. The view from the lanai was fantastic! The condo was equipped with everything we could need. We loved having the beach chairs, beach mats, coolers, snorkel gear, beach towels and even ice packs available for our use. We cooked breakfast every morning and ate on the lanai. You couldn't ask for a better place to have breakfast and a morning mimosa! The kitchen is very small, but extremely well equipped. It had everything that we needed to make breakfast and dinner. The room was plenty big for the two of us and we loved being able to open the big over-sized patio doors and feel like we were outside. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of closet space for our things. I would have given the room a 5 star rating if we had been pleased with the air conditioner. We really only used the air conditioning at night, but it didn't cool the room off very well. We were instructed to not set the temperature below 72 degrees, so we didn't, however I don't think the room ever really got very cool. Maybe it just needs to be serviced. Also, there isn't any water pressure in the bathroom sink (hot water), the shower is fine, but the sink isn't. Other than these small issues, the room was wonderful, the location was really nice. The walkway from the hotel takes you right to the beach. You could easily walk to all the restaurants, shopping and beach walk. I think the parking at the hotel (valet) is quite expensive. After the first couple of days we checked into the parking behind the hotel by the marina and that was much more reasonable. I thought that the key pad entry was very nice, no need to worry about a key. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends and family. It was a great place to stay. The restaurant/bar is quite nice and much cheaper than many of the other hotels in the area, (Hilton next door has very high prices.)I've only been once to Waikiki, staying on the other end that time and I prefer the other end because it seemed less ritzy and busy and had better views of the countryside..Diamond Head etc. I was not pleased at having to spend $28 a day for valet service plus tips, (it was run fine though.) Parking in that area is at a premium and with lots of baggage not a good option. Also the cleaning fee seemed high for basically 3 nights. ”

The location was perfect, we used the bus to get around everywhere and took some tours, quiet and close enough to the ala Moana Shopping where we picked up groceries as needed. Overall the condo worked for us. Our kids are ages 15 and 11 so the pullout sofa was too small for both but luckily there was an airbed we also used. It was ok, we did confirm that the pull out was a queen before booking and when we arrived it was not. There was plenty of room for all of us and our stuff. Having the kitchen was great. We slept with the patio doors open every night, listening to the waterfalls from the Hilton next door. Would consider staying again ,would have to try to make the kids a bit more comfortable because 2 weeks. Loved Hawaii! ”

Short walking distance to main part of Waikki , Ala Moana shopping centre and various other shops and restaurants. Shuttles, trolley and buses stop outside hotel, which is ideal if you want to explore Honolulu. During our stay we booked excursions to Pearl Harbour and Paradise Cove Luau, bus picked us up and dropped us off again at front door of hotel. Both excursions were brilliant and we would strongly recommend them. Our only complaint was that we didn't have enough time to do everything we wanted to do. If we ever get the chance to visit Honolulu again we will definitely stay here and for a longer period of time. ”

Good value for dollar for on the beach location

The common spaces of the condo have all been updated and upgraded. Suite 1540 is a basic and comfortable rental suite. It could use some basic upgrading: improve kitchen layout, upgrade to a plasma screen t.v., bathroom tiles need updating, but otherwise is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen is very small and tight; only one person can be in the space at one time. We stayed here for 3 1/2 weeks and really enjoyed the ocean views from bed and the balconey. The kitchen is fully outfitted so you can save on money eating out for all meals. There is a Safeway 2 miles away and Wal-Mart 1 mile away for easy shopping access. The location is very near ala Moana Shopping centre, which is the main bus depot hub if you want to take the bus all over the island of O'ahu. This really is a studio apartment, not a one bedroom apt. They have a Japanese screen divider between the bed and sofa but you can hear everything. Only 2 adults can stay here comfortably since it is a 600 square foot condo. Any more than that would feel claustrophobic. Every evening, you overlook the Hawaiian Hilton Village's luau presentation from 5:00 - 8:00 with Polynesian dancing and singing which can be loud. They do finish at 8:00 though. You get a perfect view or the fireworks every Friday night overlooking the Hawaiian Hilton village lagoon (next door). The owners have all kinds of beach gear for all to use: boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers, etc... This is a basic place to stay; not a Hilton Hotel or Marriott but it was good value for dollar. We made an arrangement with the owners that we would do the condo cleaning during the 3 weeks, saving us two payments of $125 cleaning service fee. We did have to pay the $125 cleaning fee on check out so this place is best for those staying for one week or more; otherwise a hotel may be cheaper to avoid paying the cleaning fee. There is laundry on each floor for $2.50 per load. There is cable internet in the suite. Bring or buy your own toilet paper for stays more than 4 days; the give you a basic introductory shampoo/ soap/ toilet paper set for 4 days stay. After that, you have to buy your own. Walmart is near by behind ala Moana shopping centre and fairly cheap. ”

Try the Bar across the road next to National Car Hire, reasonable prices and a great place to meet the locals. My daughter slept on the sofa bed, she added the foam padding from the closet and slept well. The view was so nice, we watched the surfers every morning while having coffee on the lanai. We had breakfast in the condo every day. The location is at the beginning of Waikiki. For us, the location was better than the middle of Waikiki. The beach is larger and less crowded -- no umbrellas in the way either! We did go to the main area of Waikiki for our daughter to surf, better for new surfers. We had a rental car and parked in valet at the Ilikai, the easiest thing to do. It was $25 per day, in and out as you please. Really, quite a deal when you think of how much money you save over a hotel in the middle of Waikiki! I used to live on Oahu so we had to drive all over the island so I could reminisce, such a beautiful place!! We didn't see much of the luau at the Hilton, not impressed, really, a luau on a roof! Go to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a great show. Didn't watch their luau either, was busy eating, but, the show afterward is really good. Wonderful place to stay. ”

The location, the unit, the hotel, the view, and the nice extras were all part of a formula for a vacation in which each day was the best day ever. The kitchen was nicely supplied, there were plenty of towels for showers, the extra blankets and plentiful supply of pillows made a very nice pallet for the toddler. We enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony and loved the up close view of the Friday fireworks. The hotel gym, shops, general store, and restaurants were a convenient touch and came in handy. The hotel is within walking distance of a nice supermarket, bus stops, package stores,restaurants, Ala Moana mall, and ala Moana park (which became one of our favorite spots to visit). The only suggestions I would make is to add plexi-glass to the railings of the balcony to make it a bit more child friendly and to rearrange the furniture to allow the air con to run more efficiently. Nonetheless, I will recommend unit 1540 to anyone I know that may be heading to the Island. Thank you for an incredible memory. ”

I got many wonderful pictures / memories from that lanai. My wife loves to shop,so the proximity to the ala Moana Shopping Center was very advantageous. Many fine restaurants within walking distance like the Chart House. Having the full kitchen was great. We cooked and ate most of our breakfasts in the condo. Slipping coffee and eating breakfast on the lanai was the thing to do. We were able to purchase (at great prices) fresh fruits, breads, cookies, loaves, quiche, salads, etc twice a week right down in the courtyard area of the Ilikai. What they did not have the aBC Superette (carries more than a regular aBC store)is just down the block and across the street. I can not say anything bad about the condo. It not only met our expectations, but it exceeded them. When we go back, we will definitely be booking this condo again. ”

Fabulous Condo!

“ May 17th through May 23rd. I took my 14 and 18 year old daughters and we stayed in unit 1540. From the moment we walked through the door and hit the lanai we were in love with the place. The view is even better then pictures can provide. The Condo has everything you need from towels, hand soap, toilet paper, iron, hair dryer, to a fully stocked kitchen, which was gorgeous. The bed was a King size with nice linens and lots of pillows, the couch was comfy and the décor was really cute. We also had pool towels, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach chairs The unit is located in a fabulous location so close to everything we needed. Plus it's very Quiet inside, we were not bothered by anyone. Waikiki Beach is just right outside and after walking down Waikiki, believe its the nicest part of the beach. We did not rent a car and found many things were in walking distance and the convenience of shuttles, and bus's and trolleys right out front was great. The aBC stores are right there for a quick pick up of things, but there is a Wal-Mart behind the Mall as well as a Foodland where you can get groceries. They also have a Costco and a Safeway all within a short distance from the Ilikai all huge cost savers. It was so worth the trip out to the flea market held at the aloha Bowl. There is a Trolley that will take you to and from; it has really great deals on trinkets and treasures, clothes, jewelry and even local fruits and vegetables. The birds eye view from the lanai gives you access to a rooftop luau at the Hilton and a amazing view of the fireworks held right on the beach in front of you on Fridays. I will come back and book this condo again. Everything was clean, Kat and Hans were super to work with and things couldn't have gone smoother. Thanks for the great time and helping me give my senior a graduation present she will always remember! ”

Ilikai 1540

“ We stayed in room 1540 at the Ilikai april 20-25, 2011. The hotel is an older hotel & not as fancy as some of the newer ones, but it was still nice & the location is great. Room 1540 was decorated very nice, was clean, & had a spectacular view of the lagoon and ocean. We got a great deal on the room. The Ilikai is very affordable compared to "resort" type places. There were beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, & a cooler in the room for us to use. Full kitchen which is great if you want to be able to cook while you are staying there. There were plenty of elevators, no we never got stuck waiting to long to get to our room. If you walk down the ramp at the rear of the hotel, it only takes you right to the lagoon & then you are only steps away from the ocean. The lagoon is perfect if you want to lounge on an airmattress or have small kids since the water is calm. This part of Waikiki has a much larger beach than other parts. There is a fireworks show every Friday evening. They are let off from the beach between the lagoon and ocean. There was a Mc Donalds & ABC Superette right across the street from the front of the hotel. There are so many shops & restaurants in this area to pick from. We had dinner at Sarento's at the top of the Ilikai & the food & service were superb. It was only a few blocks to walk to the alamoana Shopping Center that had every kind of store you could think of. We rented a car from Thrifty which was a couple blocks away (was much cheaper than the rental car companies across the street from the hotel) on Easter & drove around the island. We went to the Bydo-In Temple which is beautiful & to the North Shore. I would definately recommend this room and hotel to someone coming to Oahu that wants a nice place to stay without all the cost of staying in a fancy resort. ”

There's a lagoon right next to the beach and the water is calm there for small children. We had a good view of the ocean from the balcony and had breakfast out there every morning. The sleeping arrangement worked out well with the kids sleeping on the brand new sofa bed and we took the king bed in the bedroom which is separated by three large japanese style screens. Great place to stay! ”

The one fault we found was that the sofa bed was broken and we had to use an air mattress which took up a lot of room and made the condo look very small. It was clean and the view off the balcony was very nice. We loved the Ilikai Hotel and we were within walking distance of the Aloa Moana shopping complex. We had a very enjoyable stay. ”

The real issue came when it was time to go to sleep. It was a one bedroom with a pull out couch. Since it was me and my brother there for a wedding we really needed the couch and it would not open. After spending the first 2 nights sleeping on the couch, which was beyond old we found an air mattress and he used that the rest of the week. This condo said it slept 4 and if you went there with 4 in mind you would have been disappointed. If you were a party of 2 sharing the bed I would highly recommend. The location, the view, the overall look and feel of the lobby were great. ”

We eventually got the bed settee pulled out but could not retract it ,therefore it became an issue during the day for space ..we discovered a blowup bed in the closet a few days later . this was comfy but took up a lot of room . If we deflated it every morning then we had to blow it up every night .. We wish we had been told about this before we arrived or when we arrived and did not have the hassle of finding it out for ourselves. Everything else was good and if the settee was fixed --would recommend this condo. Liked the view and location . ”

Nice Room, Clean, Close to the Action

The Ilikai hotel building itself is a little outdated, and I'm used to staying at nicer hotels (Westins are usually the standard), but when I entered the condo itself I was pleased. It was updated, clean, and had a nice view. The couch was a little beat up, but no big deal. We really liked having a kitchenette in the room since we had a 2 year old and a newborn, and eating breakfasts and lunch in the condo was much easier than eating out each day. We parked at the Marina Parking garage across the street...which was a little inconvenient but not too bad ($20 or so per day). It was about a 10 minute walk to get down to the beach which was really cool. About the only draw back was the fact that we overlooked the Hilton's lagoon pool, with waterslides and such, and I was extremely jealous because the Ilikai's pool was pretty basic. Other than that, it was a nice stay and a good deal. ”

“ Studio apartment was very adequate for two adults -- nice partial ocean view, comfy king-sized bed; full kitchen including full-size frig, stove with oven, & generous supply of dishes & cook/bake-ware. Metered and pay-and-display parking is handy about a 1-minute walk out the back door for 25-cents per hour (free for handicapped, if you call and ask the parking company) or Ilikai has a valet garage (more expensive). Nice location for restaurants. Easy walk to main part of Waikiki Beach (beach towels provided). We already plan to stay there, if possible, when we go again (military son stationed on Oahu). You can even watch the Hilton Luau from the balcony (Hilton is almost next door). Closet was "divided" so difficult to hang dresses and tall-man's pants, and not much of a place for suitcases. Most of ground floor shops were vacant -- Ilikai may be in bankruptcy proceedings (in the late-May news), so we're a bit nervous about arriving to find everything closed and locked up tight. Managers were very accommodating of our many questions and when we wanted to extend for an extra day. ”

“ After a week of research I chose Aloha Condos and condo #1540 at the Ilikai Hotel and Apartments. Upon our arrival I became the instant hero of our family! My husband was thrilled because it was a great value and my children were beside themselves ready to go to the lagoon which is the first thing they saw as they ran to the lanai to get their first glimpse of their world for the week. The communication with Aloha Condos was excellent and professional-what you see online is really what you get and more. We had everything we needed and the condo was equipped perfectly. We went to the Foodland in the Ala Moana shopping center on our first day for breakfast supplies and snacks- the kitchen had everthing and their was even a cooler in the condo for our adventures!We took advantage of the beach chairs and sand toys that were there as well. Everyone was very nice at the Ilikai especially the valet parkers- *hint* you can deal with them on parking. My husband got them to agree to $18 a day instead of $25. It was well worth it- we never had to wait over 2-3 minutes for our car and they always asked if we needed directions etc. Our beds were comfortable, the water pressure was excellent and we really felt like it was our home for the week. The last thing we did was stand on the lanai and enjoy that view as a family and my 15 year old son said, "Thanks for the best vacation ever" Thank you Aloha Condos, we will visit again and recommend you to all or friends. ”

Great little apartment

“ The apartment was exactly as shown on the rental website. It was clean and well equipped and had a great view of the ocean. The outside of the building isn't very attractive and could use some updating. One pool was under renovation but we found chairs easily enough at the other pool. You can walk to the beach but it is a little rocky at the end we were at..so you had to walk a bit further down the beach for nicer sand...but considering the price we paid for the rental - we were very pleased that we were able to be on Waikiki beach at all! We walked to most everything. Transit is easy to figure out and we took it a few times including to Pearl Harbour. We took a few bus tours as well and were picked up right at the building. Parking is an issue in Waikiki so it was nice to get around without renting a car. We went to the Big Island the second week and Needed a car to get anywhere! My only complaint is the elevators were slow and not all working. I would stay there again in a minute. ”
