The studio was all that my daughter & I needed for our spring vacation getaway, it was well stocked and we loved the welcome goodies. The central location was great to venture out to either end of the island depending on the weather. Maryann was wonderful and provided us with lots of tips and was always quick to assist us or answer questions if required. Thanks for a great stay!

This unit was very clean and comfortable. The Islander on the Beach was beautiful and in a great location. We plan to recommend this place to friends and family. You get a nicer unit for less and that's hard to find in expensive Kauai! We liked the location because the Coconut Marketplace was right across the street and they had delicious and affordable dining. We saw locals eating at the restaurants, which is always a good sign.

Ahhh. Our stay at the Islander Unit 111 was everything we had hoped for. As long time "Northshorers" we decided this time to try an East-side location. Islander 111 was perfect for us. Location? How about 30 seconds from the pool and poolside bar and 45 to the beach. Excellent restaurants and other fun bars within walking distance. The best way I can explain how pleased we were would be a review of the odometer on our rental car. On the 5th day we finally exceeded 50 miles. When we got to our room we needed to go no further to find comfort and joy.

I have stayed at the Islander on the Beach over 20 times in 5 different buildings but this is my favorite.Easy access from the parking lot is one reason but the owner's individual touches and thoughtfulness make this a winner. No resort fee and free high speed internet as well.Best location halfway between Waimea Canyon and Ke'e Beach.

We had shopped around for a few months before deciding on where to stay. Have never been to Kauai. We really did not know where to start. My wife was apprehensive about not staying in a "resort" because you never know what you might get otherwise. We arrived to a resort, it had all the bells and whistles you would if you had rented from the front desk. Except we did not pay for the high cost of an ocean front unit. The unit was unbelieveable. It was clean and modernized, with a first class view. I do not think the site shows it off the way you see it in person. this was a first class, first rate resort and unit 132 was the perfect unit and location. We will definitely plan on renting with this owner again. Matt

The location of this unit within the complex is very nice. Just a few steps from the beach and pool. The poolside bar is nice but pretty spendy. It would have been nice to have some information in the condo as to nearby restaurants, shopping, beaches etc... Also some instructions for wi fi, tv channels, blue ray, safe... I have never stayed in a condo that did not give you some basic information. Housekeeping needs to clean a bit better, we had hair in the shower from a previous guest. Overall experience was very nice. Just a few little things that weren't quite right.
Manager response:
Aloha:
Thank you for your feedback. There is a owners guest book that has things to do and places to eat in the drawer of the night stand. Also in the front lobby there is a wonderful book for guests of every resturant and their menus. I will make sure to include how to use the wiifii in my book. At anytime a guest can call me or email me if they cannot locate something. I will take any and all suggestions to heart to ensure everyone has a perfect stay.

We could not have imagined a nice place. Really the pictures and description were helpful but its nothing like when we first walked in the unit. What a charming place, right on the ocean, walking distance to many activities, and centrally located to both sides of the island. Unit 132 was very cute, very clean and very very adorable. It was a perfect size for just my husband and I. I recommend walking down the beach and eating at all the places during happy hour. We found some great places to sit have dinner on the water. One thing I would change is after we left Unit 132 we stayed in Hanalai for a few days. We paid 1 half times more and wish we had stayed the whole time in 132. Much better value and better location. We will definatly be coming back. I want to mention that we were so glad to have had the bottom floor, a big plus.

This studio condo was a really great find! My husband, son and I had a fantastic time in Kauai and part of this was the condo. It was easy to check-in and communicate with Mary, the owner. She was very helpful and cheerful. The condo is on the bottom floor so it was very easy to get around. My 2-year old just loooved to slide out of the bed in the morning and run outside to play on the grass. The ocean was very close but not too close to be concerned about my son's safety. Pool is right next door, along with the tiki bar :-) King size bed and little kitchenette, nice bathroom, beach equipment to use, TV (which we actually never turned on). I really could not ask for more. We were happy! I highly recommend this place!

This condo was wonderful. Free parking and wifi. It's on the bottom level of the three story condo which I thought I would not like but It was awesome to just open up the great big sliding glass door to walk to the pool which was steps away and also the hot tub and the bar! Also great when we had a handful of clothes to wash at the laundry room. It had everything we needed beach towels plenty of bath towels. We used the small fridge provide and got water bottles and other drinks and everyday filled the small cooler (also provided) with ice (there is an ice bin just steps away the front door) and had cold drinks for the car/beach. Saved us some money. Bought Kauia coffee and enjoyed that every morning on the patio. Our only bummer was that we noticed you can hear clanking of cabinet doors and if people are being a bit noisy you can hear it. When this happened we played our music softly and just tuned it out :-) we had to move to a resort for two days after because we didn't have the condo for 7 full days. Luxurious resort, but we had to pay for parking $14 a day and they wanted $13 for wifi !! Craziness. Also bonus was that grocery store was very close! Safeway is down the road. If you want a sweet retreat come here..if your lookin to party all night long don't. My husband and I loved the stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this unit for 8 days in December 2012 and to be honest we were a little worried as to what we would be staying in, because if you've compared prices to other hotels this unit was a steal. I was dreading being stuck in roach motel, but upon arrival I was very pleased with our choice of stay. First thing I noticed walking into the unit was how clean it looked and smelled. Before we found the unit though, we had some difficulty locating the unit, everyone we asked seemed to point us in the wrong direction, so a map of the grounds before hand may have been useful. However, the rental company was quick to help and answer any questions we had. The unit had many useful amenities that you would not have found staying at a regular hotel. Things such as real beach towels, like pretty colorful big ones. This was very fortunate for us as we decided to not pack, so this saved us money. There was nice welcome package with a tourist video, coffee, candies, and all sorts of things. Other things like BBQ utensils, ice chest, beach chairs, sand toys, and more also came in great use. The room had a decently sized bathroom and although we didn't use it much, the a/C unit was nice at time. They didn't want clothing hung off the furniture, a drying rack of some kind would have been useful. The pool and beach was just a short walk from the Lanai. We cooked food on the hotels brand new Bbq's and enjoyed the company of fellow travelers and locals at the tiki hut by the pool most nights. The only con I can think of that the beach isn't the nicest, but Kapaa is a great place to stay as it a good starting point to head North or South for the day which is what we did. We enjoyed the farmers market on Thursdays in coconut marketplace and all the stores there as well. I would definitely stay again! I gave them 5 stars based on what I was told I was purchasing and what I actually got for my money.

Julia from Anchorage on 02/01/2013 said:
In summary: This condo is small. But at the price ($89/nt+tax) it was perfect. If you want more, you pay more. This was the least expensive option I could find and it met all my needs perfectly. Couldn't ask for a better value. The good: The owners make the most out of this small space. For example, the kitchenette is equipped with a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave but also a coffee pot (8-cup) and toaster oven. It also has dishes and utensils and 3 cutting boards (incl. 1 that is large enough to cover the sink, creating a little more work space). By being a little creative (heating water in the coffee pot, broiling steaks in the toaster oven), I found that this tiny kitchen had everything I needed to eat-in and minimize my food costs. There are also grills by the pool if you prefer that option. Some other nice touches: the beach towels and chairs are fantastic; the chairs at the little table are quite comfortable; I fell in love with the comforter; and they have an iPod docking station with alarm clock that I really enjoyed. They also provided a really good island guide book (on loan) and a journal for sharing experiences with owners/future guests. I took that guide book with me everywhere, it was so helpful. The bad (nitpicky things only): There are no carpets, all the floors are tiled. Easy to keep clean, but not pleasant to walk on 1st thing in the morning. I suggest you pack slippers or house shoes. The heavy privacy curtain opens/closes easily, but the thinner curtain gets stuck on the tracks - guess that one doesn't get opened as often. The air conditioner looks rusty, but works fine. The bathroom fan sounds like it needs some attention, and it's annoying that it comes on every time I turn the light on, but it works as it should.

My wife and I spent a delightful 10 days in Condo 158. it was comfortable and we felt at home from the moment we entered. Our friends were just across the grassy area by our patio. The little service that we needed was taken care of almost instantly; we were missing a wash cloth; a minor problem. A quick e-mail to the owner and wash cloths appeared in our room within a few hours. We would definitely return.

The best room spot in the entire facility given the ocean front and the corner unit adjacent to the pool and jacuzzi and bar. Also loved being so centrally located to experience all of the island. The unit was decorated very nice, The unit was exceptionally clean. The complex was quiet and very traditional Hawaii. We did not want to go to a resort and forced to eat at expensive resturants. This condo was everything we hoped it would be. My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to Kauai, and we could not have picked a better place to stay. The location is easily reached from the airport and equidistant from both west and north side attractions. Check-in was easy and the condo staff were helpful during all our interactions with them. Yes, the condo really is that close to the beach. Walking thirty seconds to the beach to watch the sunrise, then drinking our coffee on the patio = perfect. The room was well-stocked and comfortable, which we distinctly appreciated on our first day in, since our luggage arrived late. We saved money by eating some of our meals at home thanks to the well-supplied kitchen. The beach gear provided was a very nice touch too! The only things that might be considered downsides were not issues for us, but might be for other people. The room was perfect for the two of us but might be crowded with more folks, despite the sofa bed. The pool, hot tub and bar were low-key and spacious, but might be underwhelming for people who want the feel of a busy luxe resort chock full of tourists. We felt these were advantages, but to each his own.

Positives: Clean and comfortable accommodation, great to be able to see the sunrise from the lanai, great resort atmosphere. Good location next to the Coconut marketplace and walk to the beach and other places of interest. Negatives: Space can be limited especially with the sofabed out, lack of coffee though the coffee maker was there. Parking is a big problem after 6 pm. and since our plane was at 6.30 am in the morning and it was raining, we had to walk in the rain carrying our luggage to the entrance while the driver had to walk to the end of the road to get the car in the rain. This was annoying.

Our recent visit to Kauai was fantastic due in part to the lovely location of this condo. The beach and ocean are just steps away when you walk out onto your balcony. The condo was well equipped and very comfortable. A beach umbrella might be one needed addition as we had 8 beautiful sunny days when we were there. The staff at the resort were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the bar at poolside and the Bbq's there also. We would return to this condo.

My husband, our 11 year old, and I stayed in Condo 158 and loved it. The unit was clean and had everything we needed to make our vacation complete. The atmosphere at Islander is fantastic. Everyone is friendly, and if you need an extra place to escape to read a good book, the open lobby area is the perfect place to relax on comfortable furniture while listening to both music and ocean waves. The hot tub/pool area is an added bonus for everyone as it was never crowded. The condo was a little snug for 3 of us and could use a little more kitchen counter space, but we didn't go to Hawaii to stay in the condo, so it worked out just fine. We really felt like we were welcome guests in a friend's home.

Stayed in Condo 158 Oct 19-27. Perfect location and amenities for an excellent vacation. Unit was clean and in good location. We watched the sunrise each day from our lanai or beach. Kitchenette great for simple meals. Pool is great, stays cool since 8 Ft. on deeep end (poolside bar open till 10 each night). Nicely kept grounds and lawn areas. Easy to walk (Cocuonut Marketplace shopping center right behind condo) or short ride to grocery, farmers market, local restaurants or even a twice weekly hula show. A perfect central location to explore Kauai while not giving up convenience of restaurants, shopping and activites. From reserveration online to checkout, a smooth and easy, proffessional process making an exceptional vacation even better.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. It was basically the size of a hotel room with a kitchenette crammed in, but it worked well for the two of us...not sure I could handle it with 4 people there. The unit was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The ocean is visible from the lanai and it was nice to sit outside in the mornings and watch it or walk over and sit in the many chairs that were on the beach. It's right by the coconut marketplace and some of the best Shave Ice on the island (according to Kauai Revealed). Everything else in Kapaa is just a short drive away. One thing that was an issue was parking. There is not near enough parking for the units and if we got back any later than 6pm, we had to park on the road or in the parking lot next door. It wasn't a bad walk, but it was annoying when we got there the first night after dark and had to drive all over looking for parking. We didn't use the pool or other facilities, but they looked nice. Enjoy!

We stayed at Islander on the Beach condo 158 for our honeymoon. I've been to Kauai three other times and know the area well. I would highly recommend Islander on the beach, especially for someone looking for a convenient location on the east side of the island, and more-so for anyone looking for a quiet and less touristy accommodation - perfect for a honeymoon. The unit was very clean and well stocked with all the essentials as well as some nice unexpected extras for the beach, kitchen, and laundry. It's much nicer than staying in a hotel where you feel like you're surrounded by other people sharing the same amenities. The management staff was also very pleasant and helpful, with check-in & check-out a breeze. I forgot some important personal belongings in the room when departing and the management company collected them and mailed them to me without hassle. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Great value, location, and amenities! Condo is situated in the middle of the island. So, it make is easy to drive half of the island one day and the other half the next day...Then you could easily get to any spot on the island from this location. Value of the condo was great...You get a little kitchenette with a microwave, sink and fridge...It doesn't have a stove/oven, but there are BBQ at the pool area where you can Q up some good grinds if choose to. The pool is open till 10pm and the pool bar is open till 9pm...The thing about Kauai is that shops close up early, so the pool is a good place to unwind after a funfilled day of activities (surfing, site seeing, hiking, kayaking/paddleboarding along the rivers and etc.)!

It's always a little nerve racking to book a room based on photos from thousands of miles away (Oklahoma) but this studio condo was perfect for our needs. The room was bright, clean and well decorated. The lanai opens to the beach and the pool, both which are just steps away. The bathroom is much larger than it appears in the photos. We arrived late in the evening (around 9pm) and had to unload our luggage at the curb and it felt as though we were putting the front desk folks out by asking them how to get to our unit. We received no assistance with a luggage cart as "they were locked up for the evening". I think is more the resorts issue and not who we rented the unit through and on another hand, front desk lady could have just been having a really bad day. The laundry room hours were a bit modest in my opinion, 8am - 10pm - no one wants to do their laundry during daylight hours while in Kauai! - Other than that, it was the perfect vacation. The other vacationers were pleasant, met a few at the designated smoking area and at the pool. We received a fantastic welcome bag on our door the first morning full of goodies, a very nice touch! Room was absolutely perfect. I couldn't have planned a better visit!

We stayed in 158 after a few nights in less than accommodations (hostel and hotels), so it was nice to have a large comfortable bed, TV/internet and bathroom with the softest bath mates I've ever stepped on! A lot crammed into a small space, not in a bad way, but I couldn't image sharing the condo with 4 people. Perfect for a couple, very comfortable with the modern technologies. The kitchenette served it's purpose and a couple we met at the pool were jealous we had a blender, which came in handy. The location of the room itself made it easy to walk to beach, pool, and parking and not deal with stairs.

The condo was clean and the complex was well maintained. We liked being being located right on the beach, which although it is not the most popular beach area on the island, was still perfectly fine for us because it was uncrowded and quiet. We liked being able to take a long walk down the shoreline, which has some rocky areas that have small tidepools with sealife in them. We were also able to sit on the patio of the condo and have an ocean view when it was too windy to sit on the beach. The condo was tastefully decorated also. There were some places to eat and shop at within walking distance and it is located roughly halfway between the north and south areas of the island. There was only one annoying negative---the parking situation is poor, and gets worse the later you come back--after dark it just sucks.

Proximity to good restaurants and the special places my wife and I have found on the island is great. The best is the groundfloor level of the unit with a beautifull view on the shoreline from the Lanai. The waves come rolling to you! The area of the complex is nice to walk around and very quiet. One suggestion would be one King size bed instead of two double beds. It would give more room for maybe a built in countertop or full kitchen. We loved the internet access, very convienent. The Aloha staff (Kristen) was great, we called her several times for assistance with a broken lock and a lost key. she was very helpful and service oriented. she was great!!!!

Kristen from Aloha Condos was very helpful and accommodating. The unit was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great - just a few steps to the beach. You can see the ocean from the back porch. It took some time figuring out how to control the air conditioning - would have been helpful if there was an instruction sheet. We made use of the fridge and the microwave. Glad to have cups, dishwashing liquid, sponge, and paper towel available for our use. The bath towels were soft, just like from home. I did have a visitor in the shower one day...kind of freaked me out. There was a cockroach about 2" long on the shower curtain. I guess being on the first floor, gives the critters better access to the unit. We didn't have any problems parking, but, we did come back before 8 pm every night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great welcome package from owner plus nice amenities like plush beach towels, robes, safe, cooler bag, boogie board and beach chairs. Plenty of toiletries, a hair dryer and lots of free coffee and green tea provided. Beds comfortable! Owner provides a very informative and handy guide book with tips on things to see and do. The free wi-fi worked extremely well! There are a several small restaurants and take out places close by including a couple on the grounds and several others just a short drive away. Duke's is very popular. There are a couple fast food places like McDonalds further up the main highway in Kaapa town. Grounds are lovely, pleasantly quiet, relaxing and well maintained. The property has a nice intimate feeling versus that of a very large resort. Pool and hot tub are not huge but very adequate. Nice pool bar with daily happy hour. Ocean can be seen from pool area but would not recommend swimming at beach. Bonus - Hawaiian monk seals often sun on the beach! There are also barbecues near the pool for guests to use. Laundry room is bright and washers and dryers reasonably priced. Owner, Dawn, is very friendly and responds to queries very promptly. She wants to ensure her quests have an enjoyable visit! I would definitely stay here again! If you are looking for a central location, lovely grounds and an intimate and relaxing experience this is an excellent choice.

I did wish for a hot plate to boil water and cook veggies, but Dawn left us with the appropriate microwave dishes to make eggs and steam broccoli. Islander is in a great location- we rented mountain bikes for the duration and did a lot of riding in the neighborhood and on the bike path. There's a great trail at the end of the path into anatola- swooping singletrack 'sideouts' that were sweet! The accommodations are better than hotel room accommodations and the view is absolutely beautiful. The only thing between you and the beach is a sidewalk and a few of trees which provide an adequate/appropriate view of the beach. We will definitely be back!

As soon as you open the door to unit 224 you are greeted by a million dollar view. It is exactly as pictured and the sound of the surf is a perfect background. The unit has lovely amenities: high quality linens and lotions. The "kitchen" is amply stocked, and plenty of restaraunt choices are within a five-minute walk. I recommend The Fish Hut in the Coconut Market Place, and then you can walk along the beach to burn it off! Hotel staff were very friendly, and they have computers to confirm return flights. One note on the unit: two people would be the limit, and I would have liked a little step stool to reach the glasses and other items on the top shelf of kitchen.

Positives: Exceptionally clean and modern. View is spectacular. Islander has nice pool and hot tub. Grounds are meticulously groomed. Lots of towels and beach accessories. Comfortable bed. Air works perfectly. Liked the proximity to the Coconut Market Place and to Kapaa. Service from aloha Condos was very good.Loved sitting on the lanai with a glass of wine. Negatives: Parking was an issue during the evening when the restaurants were in demand. Condo was small (probably a converted hotel room)and I wouldn't want to stay more than a few days as I like my space. Beach wasn't really walkable or swimable. However, it is just steps from your room. This condo is not suitable for people needing an elevator to access a second story unit as there is no elevator.

Wow! Where to begin? Brevity is the soul of wit, they say, so I say this - stay here. You will not regret it. The pictures do not come close to capturing the ocean view, and you will sleep to the sound of the surf all night long. There were supplies everywhere - from salt, ziplocks and sugar to shopping bags. You will feel welcome, you will feel relaxed, you will be pleased at the cleanliness, you will feel at home, you will be happy. I would move here. (Practically, I will note that if your family is physically larger than two adults and either one more adult or two children it'll be too small. It was perfect for our family of three.) I can't wait to go back! Mahalo!

We recently travled to Kauai (Nov 2011) and stayed for a week in #224. The room was exactly as pictured on their website and very clean. We were welcomed with a gift bag containing a box a chocolate covered macademia nuts, cookies, a tote bag and a couple of other things. It was waiting on the table for us in the room. The kitchen cupboard had a variety of things not usually found in a condo - storage baggies, tin foil, sugar, paper plates, etc. My husband loved starting each day on the lanai as the day awoke. The view is just awesome! The people who manage the room were so nice - within an hour of arriving, we had locked ourselves out of the room and someone had to come to let us back in. The lady who came was so nice about everything even though it had interrupted her evening. We enjoyed comraderie at the pool bar during happy hour a couple of afternoons. The grounds are well kept up and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort and this room in particular! - Joyce B.

We just returned from a week at Islander on the Beach Condo #224. I felt it was an incredible value for a beach front property. The room was clean and well furnished with a microwave, toaster oven, fridge and coffee maker, and kitchen necessities. Also included were beach chairs and a cooler bag. I loved sitting on the lanai or on the uncrowded beach (on property provided lounge chairs) reading. The only negative might be that the water is quite rough so children would probably not be able to ocean swim. But the pool with poolside bar was lovely and never crowded. The property was also conveniently located between the North Shore and Popiu Beach. I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to friends looking for a great Kauai value.

This was a pleasant stay at islander on the beach. In fact, it is not an appartment but an hotel room, thus more simple. But everything is there : tv, internet wifi, airco, kitchenette, large bathroom, beautiful view on the ocean. And everything for an affordable price. Kapaa is a good place to discover Kauai and a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around. Only one thing : the beach is not really attractive but you take your car and you go everywhere you want.

No problems communicating with them. Condo is closer to the ocean than it looks in photos! This studio has refrig., microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, utensils, plates, cups, coffee cups, wine glasses, for 4. Sharp knives, can opener, cutting board & wine opener. Iron, board & hair dryer. P. towels, t. tissue, dish soap, sponge, & toiletries. Towels are thick & soft. 2 beach/pool towels. The bed/linens were very comfortable. There is free wireless internet in this room! Sofa opens to full size bed & table w/2 chairs. Also a table w/2 chairs on the lanai. Bathroom is very good size w/a curved shower rod. The hot water was excellent! Stairs to 2nd floor not bad. Ice machine close by. Air conditioning was great, we cut it off 1/2 the time ast was not needed. This is not a resort with numerous amenities. We weren't looking for that. There is a pool, hot tub, gas grills, beach chairs, poolside bar. The beach is not a swimming beach though we did see people out there. Beach chairs are scattered along the beach area. There is a laundry on site. Parking is an issue at night, security assists you. We went to front desk for parking pass as instructed by security & got that w/no hassle, though we weren't checking in thru aston. Grounds are beautiful & well kept. It is quiet here. We saw a monk seal on the beach 1st morning here! Marketplace is across the parking lot w/restaurants & shops. Grocery stores, drug store, etc., are about a mile away, left side of the hwy. Wal-mart 15 minutes away in Lihue. Location was ideal for us. Is central to the island & made it easier to drive one day all the way north & one day all the way south. Be aware front desk not willing to help you w/anything as they only work w/those who rented through aston. If you are looking for a laid back place w/out posh amenities with great views at a great price, this is it!

He didn't believe me when I told him how much it cost per night! We rented a jeep to go exploring and it is worth doing so. The condo was right in the middle of the island and very close to the airport, shopping and activities. We will be back every year. The rate was great and the view for the rate mad us feel rich! It was beach front alright. The coconut markplace had great food and was within walking distance. Recommend going to the store and getting drinks and food items. the condo have a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and a toaster oven. We saved a lot of money by cooking breakfast and lunches. Then we got to sit out on the patio, eat and listen to the ocean waves. The bathroom had a blow dryer too which was good because I left mine at home by mistake!!! All in all, this was the best vacation spot we could have ever planned on having!!! Thanks for the hospitality!!!

Frequent Traveler from Las Vegas on 03/22/2013 said:
I went in with low expectations since I was not paying much for a condo on the beach. Everything would have been okay since my expectations were low but the fact that the housekeeping was so poor and that my friends had a totally different experience in condo 250 really affected my impression of condo 225. When I first entered the condo, I was quite impressed by the proximity to the ocean. It was great to hear the ocean all night. Second thing I noticed was a very musty smell that never went away despite opening up the door and spraying it with Lysol. Next I noticed a dirty washcloth that was left in the shower. I found this totally inexcusable! The housekeeper also left a bottle of Lysol on a counter. There was also grime around the sink. Another sign of the very poor housekeeping was the coffee pot was full of old coffee and a used filter. My friends' condo, 250, was spotless. Her owner provided her with robes, a welcome basket, videos, and games. We were not provided with any of this. On a positive note, our bed was very comfortable. We were very disappointed in the pool and spa since they were the size of our backyard pool and spa. Both were always too crowded to use. If the condo had been clean, I would have been satisfied since I was not paying much. The poor housekeeping did not allow me to use the kitchen because I was disgusted by the dirtiness. This was a primary reason that I had chosen a condo over a hotel room. If I did return to The Islander, I would book condo 250.
Manager response:
We are very sorry for the issues you encountered during your stay in unit 225. As you can see from our many other reviews our guests usually have an excellent experience and the condo is very clean. We have spoken to the housekeepers about this incident and they are duly upset. Im sure it will not happen again. We always leave a can of Lysol in the bathroom as guests appreciate and use this amenity. The homeowner last year upgraded the beds to king size beds and purchased new Egyptian cotton sheets. She has also just purchased new bedspreads as well, so we are delighted you found the beds comfortable. This condo has a licensed on-island contact on call 24/7 and the contact information is posted in the unit and included in the emails confirming the reservation. Any guest who encounters such problems is most welcome to call and we will rectify any issues immediately.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about this place being "right on the beach" and of all the great reviews that it had. Well, we were late getting in because of flight delays. We arrived about 12:30 in the morning. We couldn't see a thing out our sliding door. But let me tell you when we woke up to a beautiful sunrise we felt glad that we had this condo. It is right on the beach. The management was excellent! Our a/c wasn't working and they were right on it. However after it was fixed we never used it. Just prop open the door and open the slider and the breeze furnished all the fresh air we could hope for. Since we were on the 2nd floor we felt safe enough to leave our sliding door open while sleeping to listen to the crashing waves all night. It's nice location is great for restaurants, shopping and fabulous food shacks. The grounds that the condo is on (The Islander on the Beach) were impeccable. The pool a little cold but the ocean (who needs a pool) was just right. There are lounge chairs on the beach. Lots of sandy shallow water to just stand in and put yourself into relax mode. We wouldn't hesitate to book this place again. In fact, we were a little bummed that "someone" else was sleeping in our condo after we left! We lived on Oahu a long time ago and this condo reminded us of our little apartment. There was nothing we didn't like. It's not the "high hoity toity" place that some may want but it was everything we wanted or needed for 12 great relaxing nights.

We rented this condo from an owner, not the Islander corporation itself, and that made all the difference in the world. There was everything we needed in our condo, which is really no more than a big hotel room with a kitchenette and a great lanai (balcony). Dishes, silverware, spices in cupboard, cleaning products as well as paper products, even paper plates. There was even a wine opener, which we appreciated, as well as a blender for smoothies, using the fruit products from the local farm market. When we noticed the cooler was missing, a phone call and we had a new one to use. This condo is very close to the beach, so much so that my husband closed the patio door every night because the waves were so loud. The room was immaculate and the grounds beautiful and we felt blessed every day to wake up in paradise. The air conditioning unit is high on the wall and I loved the fact it didn't blow directly on us- very subtle and very efficient. One night we cooked a steak on the grill, accompanied by baked potatoes from the microwave and a salad from the vegetables found at the local farmers market which you will want to find for sure. There is only a small refrigerator with no freezer but we found it sufficient for all our food and ice is free just a short walk away. I would recommend to anyone staying here to do what we did- load a suitcase you will check through with any food items you think you'll use such as coffee, sugar, cereal, mustard, mayo, peanut butter, salad dressing, chips, cookies, any bread you can bring as well as canned goods (tuna, soup, pasta) because the food in Kauai is very expensive- be prepared for sticker shock- and we had breakfast on the lanai each morning plus prepared sandwiches to take in our cooler and water in our jug filled with ice. I would suggest suggest bringing plastic bags as well as paper cups and napkins. All in all, a great stay in a central location and I highly recommend these accommodations! Can't wait to return!!!

Our stay at condo 225 at Islander on the Beach was great! The room was everything we expected and even seemed a bit larger than the photos provided. The kitchenette had all the amenities we needed for the stay. We enjoyed listening to the ocean at night. I would recommend a second-story room if you chose to stay at the Islander - that way you can leave your sliding doors open at night! This room looks right out over the ocean. Just remember to shut those doors whenever you leave the room so your room does not get too humid - it can happen quickly. I made use of the room's private Wifi Network, and there was a large selection of cable channels for those nights when we had exerted ourselves out and about during the day to do anything but lay in bed and watch t.v. at night! During our stay, the property was generally quiet, and we saw more couples than families. As it was our first stay in Kauai, we discovered that the Islander if very well located to access all the island has to offer! There are also several great restaurants on the property - the restaurant in the far corner of the parking lot closest to the hotel has delicious Korean bbq chicken! The bar in the pool area had great happy hour specials, too. A couple of things, however small, could have made our stay more pleasant. There was only a roll and a half of toilet paper for our seven-night stay, and we had to purchase more. Also, the tissue boxes were nearly empty when we arrived, and as I suffer from allergies those were gone quickly, too. Lastly, the first night we noticed our sheets and blankets on the bed were damp. This went away by the next day after running the a/c, but this should have been done before we arrived. However, these were just minor annoyances and did not majorly detract from our stay. I would stay here again. The price is far less than paying hotel prices and you have far fewer fees and front desk issues.
Manager response:
Mahalo for your review of our Islander on the Beach 225. We were delighted to have you as our guest and hope you can return again soon. We apologize for not turning on the a/c before your arrival and will be sure to do so in the future. It is our normal policy to turn it on before a guests arrival and we overlooked it in this instance. We also usually leave more amenities such as toilet paper and tissues, so this was overlooked and we will be sure to rectify this going forward. We would have been happy to bring you more so if you return please feel free to call our local contact for any needs such as these. We want all of our guests to have a wonderful experience.

I recently spent a week in Kauai and stayed in condo#225 at Islander on the Beach. In spite of the rainy weather we had a good time. The condo was excellent...very clean and came with all the amenities of home. Dishes, silverware, blender for the fruity drinks, microwave, small refrigerator and toaster oven. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home. There were also beach mats, beach chairs and a cooler for our use. A nice surprise was the welcome bag left for us which had a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, bottles of water, a tote bag and information about the island. They also left plenty of towels for a weeks stay. I loved the ocean front location and having morning coffee on the deck. The unit is nice for two people but would be crowded with more than two people. There is no elevator so you have to carry bags and walk up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. The location is within walking distance to some shops and restaurants. The restaurant In the resort next door is excellent !! The Islander on the Beach is a very nice property. The grounds are kept meticulously and are full of beautiful flowers. My only complaint is that it can be hard to get a parking place in the lot as there are not enough of them. I would also recommend renting a compact car since the parking spaces are narrow. This is our second year at Islander and we will definitely be back again. I would recommend unit #225 without any hesitation.

Great location. Service staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great location to travel anywhere on the island and be there within an hour and a half max. The location of this condo on the second floor was advantageous as you had more privacy than similar locations on the first floor due to heavy usage of the sidewalk next to the beach. Parking in the lot can be difficult to find at night and your only other option is to park on aleka Place (not in the Coconut Marketplace - they will tow). Several food options are available in the Coconut Marketplace or nearby - nothing fancy but good food nonetheless. The surf is rough so you won't be swimming in the ocean but the pool is a good option if you want to jump in the water.

Thank you for your candid review. The homeowners have since replaced the rail system that had suffered from the constant salt and wind, and we have cleaned the drapes as well. The sofa and chairs will be steam cleaned November 8th. As for the comforter and blanket: both are brand new, so Im not sure why the suggestion was made they be replaced. I apologize for the roaches. They are one of the downsides of paradise. We keep bait traps in the units for them, but it is impossible to avoid them completely in the tropics. We can't stop thinking about our recent visit to Kauai and stay at the Islander Condo 225. It was perfect for our family. The place was absolutely what we needed. Every day we could chill at the end of our outings (snorkeling, boat/raft trip along Na'Pali coast, hiking, boogie boarding, etc.)and love where we were staying. Nice landscaping, great "open-air" lobby where we went to get our emails, etc. wood floors, ceiling fan, relaxing and pretty decor, great pool and hot tub, tiki torches at night, drinks by the pool, and best of all, our view--straight out to the ocean. Mornings breakfast on the balcony, sometimes dinner/take-out at night, too. The moon right there over the water, or a rainbow after a rain. There are loungers down by the water's edge, too. The kitchen is great, plates silverware, bowls, blender, s & p, coffee filters and machine, microwave, frig. We had breakfast at home and two dinners at home (Bbq's are by pool). The only suggestion would be to have one more place for towels to dry out during the day. There were four of us, and two towels/day, without any kind of maid/laundry because it's not a "hotel" in our unit. With us using towels at the pool and our own at the beach, one more hanging bar in the BR would be good. The beds are good (and I'm very picky), pillows perfect. I want to return here and stay at the same condo. Love it. This was the best vacation I've had in ages. Love Kauai, too. Not a single big city, the whole island is gorgeous.

We stayed here for four nights in March 2011. The location of the condo is perfect. It is just steps from the ocean and we left the patio doors open at night to listen to the waves. We had some excitement with a tsunami warning after the Japanese earthquake, but first Kristen let us know, and then someone from the management knocked on the door to let us know we should evacuate and explained where to go. The condo is about the size of a hotel room, but with the small kitchen and the balcony, there was more than enough room. There is a great restaurant within a very short walking distance, and the little town of Kapa'a is a short drive, is a charming small town, and has everything you need. Being on the eastern shore was the perfect location for us, as it was easy to drive to all other parts of the island, and was a quick drive to the airport the morning we left. All in all, I highly recommend this condo.

Nice location and size. The unit was very musty smelling and was very wet feeling in there. Was so humid we had to sleep on towels the sheets felt wet. The TV was very hard to see. We only wanted to watch the news. I would recommend to a friend only if the price was lowered.
Manager response:
We are sorry you were not comfortable and wish we had known at the time.
This condo is absolute ocean front with wonderful tropical sea breezes when we have trade winds, however things in Hawaii get very humid when we have Kona conditions, which we have had the past few weeks, and that brings on dampness and mustiness very quickly. You really cant get closer to the ocean than this unit, so it is impossible to keep it absolutely dry.
That said, a brand new air conditioning system was installed a month ago which has a dehumidifier cycle as one of the key functions. We would have been happy to assist with the dampness issue had we known you were uncomfortable. The air conditioner manual is also in the condo.
I was in this unit yesterday and did not notice any mustiness, so I think recent use of the air conditioner and the return of the trade winds dried the unit out. I will examine the TV to see if the salt air has shortened its life span.

The Bbqs and tables near the pool allowed us the opportunity to invite guests over with plenty of space. Having previously lived on Kauai for more than 10 years and running a service business, we have been in numerous rental properties and were pleased with Islander #225. We most definitely recommend this unit for location, comfort and price.

I have stayed at several condos at Islander on the Beach and they have all been wonderful, but condo 250 is by far the best! The view is priceless of course and everything was very cute Hawaiian themed. But it's the little extra touches that made this condo stand out...coffee and creamer already there, a basket of postcards, Hawaiian music in the CD player so you can just walk in and hit play. It was a truly wonderful place to stay and I will be back! Thank you for a great vacation!

Iob 250 was a great location for our honeymoon-- we loved the sound of the waves and cool ocean breezes. The unit is very well stocked with everything we could possibly have needed-- it was actually almost too well stocked which made unpacking a bit of a challenge! (We stored an empty suitcase in our truck and placed the coffee supplies in a drawer to free up some counter space as we are not coffee drinkers, and that opened up a lot of space) The wireless service was fast and reliable, which was great for accessing our wedding pictures and mapping various adventures. And the central location was great for accessing both the north and west sides of the island. Our only complaint is that the sunrises were so beautiful, guests with courtyard view rooms would gather on the beach to watch them, preventing us from getting that perfect sunrise over the water photo. All things considered, that's a very minor issue!! We would recommend this unit to any friends visiting Kauai, and would also recommend Trees Restaurant right outside-- great happy hour and everything we ate was delicious, plentiful, and prices were very reasonable!

I don't even know where to start on telling how great this room is. No words or pictures can do it justice because it is just that nice. There were so many nice touches throughout the room. It's like you're at a five star resort and they've been "expecting you." The room was stocked so well with towels, TP, coffee, creamers, utensils, etc. that we didn't have to replenish any! And it was extremely clean!! The ground on which the room sits are incredibly manicured and maintenance is all kept up. Every morning they were cleaning the pool of sand and spraying down the whole area. So clean!! The bar at the pool is so convenient!! We would get our drinks and go sit on the beach (which is lined with beach chairs, no need to carry your own). Even though the beach isn't meant for swimming per say, you can still go out there. There are tons of little "coves". Funny story - the hubby and I were sitting on the beach chairs and there was this huge ball of something. It looked like a jelly fish (black top, stringy stuff sticking out of it), and having read that some kid just got $60,000 for whale vomit, I thought that's what it was! Especially since we had been seeing tons of whales every day, right from the Lanai! I made my husband go running out to the water to grab it, yelling "If you let that go and I read on the news that someone found whale vomit and got $60,000, I will kill you!!" Turns out after researching on the internet, it was a rotting pomella (grapefruit like thing). My husband will never let me live that down. The town of Kapaa'a is absolutely charming and a perfect location! So is all the shopping right next to the parking lot! I could go on an on. You really do feel like you are at a five star resort. Get this room! You will not be disappointed! Dawn, we can't thank you enough for all the hospitality. You were born to do this. This has been the best rental we have ever had!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Henry and Linda

Parking included but fills up quickly at night. The ocean front has a nice beach but not the best place to swim due to the shallow water reef. These is bar next door (Trees Lounge) that has great music. Dawn was a pleasure to work with. Very responsive and accommodating to our request. We would definitely stay at the unit again and highly recommend it!

The pictures don't do it justice. It's so close to the beach we were able to see whales from the balcony! We enjoyed the beautiful sunrise every morning as we ate our breakfast on the balcony. We slept to the sound of waves every night. The whole resort was beautiful and even though the parking lot was full every night the resort never felt crowded. There was never a crowd down at the beach. It's centrally located on the island so we never had far to go for our sight seeing trips. This is a great place to stay and I have already recommended it to several friends.

There was a box of post cards so we could send them to family and friends. The greatest part of the room was the view and the sound of the water. Just sitting on the lanai was relaxing. We had all the drink cups and untinsils we needed and overall it was as the title describes... a sensational experience. We recently stayed at Condo 250 at Islander on the Beach for five nights and it was great! I had done a lot of research prior to booking the trip and had seen many pictures of the condo as well as the view, but wasn't sure what to expect when we actually got there...we were so pleasantly surprised to, not only see that it was exactly as the photos depicted, but to receive all of the little gifts and amenities that were available in the condo! We received a welcome bag with very useful information as well as some great snacks, and were so happy to see that the coffee area was so well stocked with coffee, cream, and sugar! The view was absolutely beautiful, but I have to say that the sunrises from the lanai might have been my favorite part. It was really a perfect spot to take it all in every single morning with my cup of coffee and some delicious island fruit. I would absolutely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a beautiful view, moderate pricing, very nice and clean room, a central location on the island!

I didn't know what to expect when I booked this condo but Iotb250 definitely surprised us in many good ways. From the moment we opened the door, we saw that they have some boogie boards, beach towels, footballs ready for us in a basket. Then we saw that they left a goodie bag with water, chocolate, stationaries, etc which I think is a really nice touch. Walking out to the lanai, we found the amazing view of the ocean + beach chairs that we can carry around during our trip. The bed was really comfortable. The toiletries were abundant & environmentally friendly. It has microwave, fridge, wifi, TV, DVD player, CD player, coffee maker + all the coffee/tea packs. Dawn even left bunch of postcards you can take away as souvenier. Overall, Iotb250 definitely exceeds my expectation in many ways. One constructive comment would probably to add microwave safe plates/bowls. I think the ones provided said "not microwave safe". I could be wrong :)

There was nothing to complain about our condo #250. It was exactly has specified and a few extras as well. The sheets were wonderful, the towels plentiful, the amenities amazing. Fun to meet all of the other guests at the bar-b-q in the evening as well. Only caveat were the disco boys who brought their version of music enjoyment on a boom box during pupu hour. The binder in the room brought us to some great restaurants that we would not have found from the Mermaids Cafe to Oasis for happy hour and live music. Hated to come home!
Manager response:
Aloha. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed condo #250. I appreciate you letting me know about the music at the pool, as I have addressed it with our hotel manager. Please dont hesitate to contact us during your stay if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. The frig (no freezer), toaster and coffee maker enabled us to enjoy breakfast on our balcony every morning while watching the sun rise and listening to the waves. We especially appreciated the option for early check-in and late check-out given our flight schedules. We took advantage of the on-site laundry since we'd spent 10 days on the Big Island prior to our visit. The facilities were very clean and worked great. The kitchen although small had all the amenities that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the pool & hot tub everyday as well as a few drinks at the poolside bar. During our stay we were lucky enough to have K-13 (one of Kauai's monk seal population) come up on the beach for a nap right outside the condo. It was truly magical. Hopefully you will be as lucky. The free wi-fi was soo much nicer than having to go to the lobby to access the internet. At the end of the day, it was wonderful to lay down in the comfortable king sized bed with luxury linens, and listen to the waves all night long. The condo is set up with everything we needed, including beach towels for our snorkeling days, and low back chairs (especially handy for watching fireworks on the fourth of July). It is close to many restaurants, and Foodland (the best grocery I went to on our visit) is only a few blocks away. I only wish we could have stayed longer...maybe we'll just have to come back!

Don't think we would have wanted to be any closer as the ocean and waves are very beautiful but noisy if you want to leave the door open for sleeping. Bed comfort was So-So for us. Maybe we are just spoiled from home. I might mention that there are no elevators so whatever you bring you will be hauling them up and down the stairs. Would have given it 5 stars;however, there were a few maintenance issues that were not really a big problem but were annoying. As others have stated the parking is a problem if you return late in the evening. They do have overflow parking at the nearby resort and businesses but we never had to use them.

Proximity to the sightseeing destinations was central to our wishes, with attendent dinner locations (both take-out and restaurant) accessible by foot and by car. The view from our room and deck during the day was great, as was the sound of the ocean during the evening and night hours. The screening of bushes allowed privacy, with the location of buildings providing both privacy and shelter from the full sun and wind. The noise from the construction was not problematic with the 8:30 start and the 4:30 stop. My wife and I enjoyed our 9 day home away from home stay in very clean and pleasant surroundings - it's even nice not being bothered by cleaning staff, as we had all necessary toiletries, towels and bedding available. The home was quiet, comfortable and provided excellent computer access. The mini fridge and microwave were sufficient for breakfast and lunch preparation. Our single son, Ryan, had stayed in the Islander a year ago and had recommended it highly, even though he thought our preference would have been provision of a full kitchen. I apologize for not writing comments in the guest book. Would return again, with possible interest in purchase of a unit! Thanks for a wonderful vacation available at a reasonable rental rate. The island was beautiful!!! The view from the lanai was amazing! My husband and I found the bed to be very comfortable..soft and relaxing..although the comforter was not very soft and inviting..was a bit scratchy. Also the coffeepot leaked, so we were unable to use it after the first morning. We were also bummed to find out that the mini frig had no freezer area, we would have liked to bought microwave foods. We did appreciate all the utensils in the kitchen all the extra towels that was a wonderful surprise..thank you for that. There's nothing I enjoy more than long walks breathing the ocean breeze on the beach every night with my husband. The facility is spacious and comfy provided with country-style furniture. Bathroom and bath towels are nice and clean. However I found that the kitchen is quite small which contains only a small fridge, a microwave, and a kitchen sink. Beneath the sink are drawers for utensils, and above it are cabinets for dinnerware/seasonings. No cooking stoves provided. In addition, the sofa has a damp smell and pillow case/bed sheets do not have a fresh scent. Other than that, we had a good stay at an affordable price!

We were able to secure another neighbor's connection, but only in the back of the unit. It would have been nice to sit on the Lanai and use our ipad or iphone to send photos or email home.
Manager response:
We apologize for the problems with the internet. We were under the impression that you were resetting the router and would let us know if that did not work. When we didnt hear from you we thought all was well. We have had difficulties with the DSL so as of June are now changing over to RoadRunner which is much more reliable on Kauai so we should not have these problems going forward.

The beach is good for walking, we saw wind and kite surfers in February. Possibly a sea turtle in the waves, too. Great base for exploring the island. The resort next door has a terrific upscale restaurant. Coconut Marketplace has stores with good gift items. Close to McDonalds for quick breakfasts. We were on the go and this place was perfect.

We needed 2 nights to stay while our booked appartment became available. We came at night, got the key in the lock box. Were pleasantly surprised at the morning when found ourselves at a few steps from very nice beach. Room was clean and comfortable. For 4 of us we would like to have a kind of kitchen, but it is more kind of hotel. Good view from the balcony where we were having breakfast and dinners looking at the garden and ocean.

Islander on the bEach 259 had everything we needed. There was lots of space and everything was very modern and new. The a/c was a nice touch after a day at the beach. The location of the resort is perfect. It is right in the middle of the island for easy trips north or south. Do not miss Wiamea Canyon or Kee Beach during your trip. Having Coconut Marketplace next to the resort was great because we could walk over for breakfast, lunch or dinners. Overall I can't think of anything that would have made this trip or condo any better. It is not the St Regis and we weren't expecting it to be. It was a great resort with a nice pool bar.

We really enjoyed our stay in 259. I think the only thing that condo would really benefit from is a toaster over rather than just a plain toaster. We loved the location as it made it easy to take trips to either side of the island. Parking was ok and could be a little challenging when returning in the evenings. We loved our view of the ocean. The condo was very clean and amenities were clean and up to date. We would go back again!

Great and affordable place to stay on East Shore of Kauai
Overall rating:

Gil J from 32123 on 06/02/2012 said:
My wife and I stayed at the Islander on the Beach condo and were more than surprised at the level of amenities provided, as well as the great location on the east shore of Kauai, given the incredible per-night price we paid ($79!). There was a new and super-comfy king-size bed, with an abundance of pillows for all extremities - with additional pillows in the armoire, if we wanted more. (We enjoy comfort!) The room was the same size as an average hotel room, with the king-size bed, small sofa (with convertible bed), coffe table, flat-screen TV, free wifi, a DVD player, well-stocked small kitchen (plates, bowls, silverware, blender, toaster, etc.), and the bathroom was plenty big as well. Also provided were beach towels, beach mats, and a big beach umbrella, and beverage cooler shoulderbag. All great provisions, since we used them all and would have been a nightmare to pack and travel with. There was a coin-op laundry facility in a separate building, and a small pool with pool bar and Bbqs for tenant use. The grounds were very clean and well kept. I would recommend staying on the east side of the island if you are going to be traveling to the north, south and west shores/areas during your stay, since it is easier and overall faster to access these places from centralized east shore. As for what we liked best and least about the condo, the best was easily the price and location. The least (though hardly a complaint): beaches on the east shore are not the most swimmable/snorkeling friendly, so we had to travel to other beaches to enjoy the water. The other least favorite aspect was the very slow one-lane traffic up and down Kapa'a throughout most of the day. Plan for extra time before leaving. Overall, this place gets five stars from us, though others - who's standards of comfort and luxury are very high - might disagree. This isn't a five-star luxury hotel by any means, but all things considered, it's a winner in our book, being regular folks and all ;)

This condo was an excellent choice for us. We wanted to stay in Kapaa because we planned to visit all parts of the island and we had heard the food is the best here. We picked the perfect base from which to make excursions. The condo was furnished well - we were able to prepare our own meals when we wanted to and used the free beach towels and cooler bag provided. The laundry facilities are just across the bottom of the stairs and there is a great fish place called Kilauea Fish Market right next door. It wasn't necessary for us to have an ocean view since we saw so many of the beaches around the island and the beach in front of the hotel isn't really swimmable anyhow. The curtain issue was a bit annoying when we wanted to access the patio but it wasn't enough to deter a 5 star rating. Kristen was very thorough in her emails and enjoyable to make arrangements with. Thank you aloha condos for a great stay.

We really enjoyed our room and surrounding property. Loved the nearby beach and the central location. The Front Desk staff were very helpful and all the staff were friendly and courteous. It makes us want to go back for the staff alone. Our suite was very clean and we left it very clean. There is one minor complaint - it was difficult to pull the curtains back and forth. Also, even though we knew there would not be a stove top in the kitchen, we did miss not having an element to cook. A suggestion to you is to install a one-burner element in the suite. I think it would go a long way, as cooking in the microwave is limiting.

This place was a great find. It had a great price, great location and was just so perfect. The trail that meets up with the paved bike path was a hit. It made our morning runs so enjoyable! We were three friends traveling together and it was just right. The fold out bed realistically sleeps one average size adult comfortably and the bathroom is nice and big. The kitchenette could use some larger mixing/salad bowl type of ware and plater for taking things out to the BBQ. Overall the place was very well kept and clean. The curtains were a bit of a bear and could use some draw strings, or I am afraid someone is going to rip them down :)

You're walking distance to a market, take out restaurants, and 1 formal restaurant next door. Parking was certainly challenging if we left the unit after 4pm. All of the red curbs were filled with cars who also had the permits for the complex - and we never saw a tow truck. The view out of the unit was great - we had garden & ocean views - with a great cross breeze.

We enjoyed our stay at Islander on the Beach. It's a beautiful setting on the beach and it's hard to beat the value. However, calling it a condo is misleading. It's really just a hotel room, and not a huge one. I've stayed at many hotels, mostly chain hotels, and had much larger "ordinary" hotel rooms than this was. It was clean and comfortable, but we didn't really have a place to put our suitcases. The closet was hard to use for clothes because it is used to store several items for use by the room guests (ironing board, boogie board, blankets, etc. A nice hotel room, just not a condo.

Our unit offered everything we needed for our two week stay. It was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated--and the couch, microwave, sink, coffee maker, toaster and refrigerator made it a real studio unit. The air conditioner was silent and effective and the bed was huge. The unit was supplied with extras such as beach towels, dishes and even a blender (do you like pina coladas?). The balcony was spacious, with a table and chairs, but only a garden view. However the unit is very convenient to the beach, pool, laundry and ice machine...really everything a "low maintenance" traveler needs!

Clean and neat, only drawback was the bed was a double and not a queen. No toaster oven but micro- oven and fidge worked fine. Extras included a nice lanai (porch), good tv but no time to watch. Ice chest for our trips to see other parts of the island. Plenty of space and couch/futon was handy. Bad parking situation, lot just not big enough. You MUST go to the lobby and window sticker to park overnight and avoid being towed. Location is great because you more or less in the middle of driveable island. Beach is nice buy not swimable. Management was pleasant and helpful.

The condo was perfect! It looked just like the photos. My husband and I wanted to relax and we definitely did! The condo is about a one minute walk to the beach. There are beach towels and mats for sun bathing and swimming inside the condo. Along the beach there are beach chairs provided by the Islander on the Beach! We loved sitting outside on the lanai to eat breakfast. We were very surprised that it has a partial ocean view! The condo looked very up to date. There are granite counter tops, stainless steel refrigerator, flat screen TV and we loved the Hawaiian decor! We went shopping at Costco when we arrived on the island. We ate lunch almost every day in the condo. The condo has gas BBQ's on property so we were able to BBQ one night! There is a little shopping mall across the parking lot. The Coconut Marketplace. They have a whole bunch of great shops for souvenirs. Make sure that you walk next door to the Beach Boy hotel and eat at the Hukilau Lanai for dinner. Their fish is very fresh and cooked to perfection! On our last day we were there when the Tsunami warning came. Kristin the property manager warned us at 5 am to get gas in our car and try to get an earlier flight out. We are very thankful that she warned us. She made us feel very well taken care. I would suggest this condo to everyone! Next time we go to Kauai we will stay in condo 271! Mahalo Kristin!

Location at Kapaa is convenient for travel either north or south and near groceries and restauants. Shops in Coconut Marketplace and the Farmer's Market easy walking distance. Parking satisfactory. We ate breakfast in every morning, but elected not to cook other meals; brought in some take-out foods. Renters should be aware it is on 3rd floor, and no elevator. My wife and I rented Condo 361 at Islander on the Beach for 6 nights in Jan/13 and would highly recommend this unit to others. For a $99 per night rental, you cannot beat the quality of the unit, the location, and free extras provided. The unit was well equipped and was not outdated or worn out in any way. The extras such as dishes & utensils, blender (fresh fruit smoothies), insulated lunch bags (for picnics on isolated beaches) boogie boards and beach towels were appreciated and well used. Bath towels and amenities were well stocked and the king sized bed, sheets and pillows were very comfortable, even for my wife with a bad back. The beachview location allowed us to whale watch from the lanai and early morning walks along the beach to watch the spectacular sunrises were terrific. The tourist channel on TV was very informative re restaurants and secluded beaches to visit and other sites on the island to see. For the price, you cannot beat the value of Condo 361.

From here it was easy to drive down to Poipu or up to Hanalei. The place was very clean and had many amenities. Maryann has added many personal touches to the place and to our visit which we really appreciated. The kitchen area is a bit small and is not made for cooking so we would just buy juices and a few cold items to microwave (don't buy frozen, there is no freezer in the little fridge). Also, there is no elevator in the building so I imagine it would be hard for an elderly or disabled person to go up and down the flight of stairs.

It's a gem! If you prefer Kapa'a for its central location and convenience (lots of good + affordable eats), and want to stay at a decent-priced condo, this is it! My husband and I were impressed with a lot of things in the unit. The unit won me from the start with its welcoming, fresh, homey scent! It's a great feeling to come "home" to a nice place to unwind from a day out in the sun. The room offers more than just a place to sleep. It was comfy with plush towels, area rugs, pillows, and bedding. I felt more like home than in a hotel! In terms of maintenance, I have seen a number of units on this property (at least 5 rooms), and this was by far the most well maintained! I've stayed at this resort property before, so I'm used to its small kitchenette, which can sometimes be quite limiting. Though, I was impressed to find a big binder put together by Maryann with cooking instructions and creative recipes. That was something totally unexpected. The Internet connection was great. Tv and DVD/CD player worked fine, and the drawer of board games & books were well kept. The unit provided a beach set (boogie board, cute towels), too. Besides travel guides, there was also a personally compiled binder with travel recommendations and stories on Kauai! Everywhere you look, you'll find nice personal touches. If you are looking for great value, comfort, and relaxation on Kauai, this unit has it all! If we go back to Kauai, we'd definitely stay here again!

We felt at home here and appreciated the view and meals on the lanai. We would have used a DVD player if it was there (as advertised?) The rooms were very cleanly presented and we loved the welcome treats. The central location of this resort was valuable and the pool and BBQ were very good to have.

My wife and I had our fist trip to Hawaii and stayed 3 nights at the Islander. It is a great town to stay in. We also enjoyed the shopping and restaurants across the parking lot. Perfect place for a sunrise on the beach. Downtown is just a short drive and I recomend the shaved ice place on the right as you come into town. Get the ice cream in the center. We were also very pleased with the amenities in the room. We had postcards, boogie board, towels, and a few necessary kitchen supplies including a blender and coffee maker.

What a great condo! It is so much nicer than the photos! The view of the ocean is incredible and very private (some rooms have a bike path or other path right in front of them with people on it at all hours). The room was extremely clean and it is evident that much effort has gone into decorating and furnishing the room, as well as keeping the furnishings and room clean. Everywhere you look in the room, there is some cute little decorator touch. Much of the artwork appears to be original photos, which were very interesting. The bath towels were soft and thick and the organic toiletries wonderful. Just as advertised, the bed linens were smooth and soft and I had the best sleep listening to the ocean. The little kitchenette was well stocked with colorful and useful items. Truly appreciated the spa robe for snuggling in after a shower (and for sitting in on the lanai early in the morning). Was delighted to have coffee for every night of stay (some rentals do not give coffee and you need to purchase a bag). Other great items were beach towels, beach chairs with built in coolers, boogie board, and the welcoming gift bag. I enjoyed reading the guest comment books to learn about places on island to visit. A great stay and I will be going back. Booking was easy and check in was a breeze. Kristen at aloha Condos makes sure that nothing goes wrong! Overall assessment: ONO!

The condo exceeded our expectations & the pictures didn't do it justice. Very clean & quiet. We were concerned about the parking mentioned by others but don't let this stop you from booking, the on-site security assisted you with parking if you arrived late so it was never a problem. To wake up and be oceanfront on your own lanai is incredible. The sunrise from the lanai was also an added bonus & surprise. The pool area is great and was never crowded. You can't beat the rate or the location, we will book again! It was a great experience & vacation.
