Aston Islander on the Beach is a great location mid point Kauai in Kapaa and this unit 132 is steps from the ocean, pool and BBQ. Mary was a dream to deal with so no hesitation on money or information. This is not a luxury property for those looking for a resort but perfect for those wanting the biggest bang for their buck. The unit was very clean and I loved that it was downstairs opened to the lawn and seconds away from the pool, bar and Bbq's. I was a little concerned about security on a ground floor unit but that it was no problem at all. Few people up late and Islander on the beach hires security who walk the property. It was so great to be a step away from the outside that I will always try to get ground floor units everywhere in the future. The outside is always inside! One thing that was very impressive about the unit was the 5 star bedding. Memory foam bed topping and high quality sheets etc. Super comfy. My husband and I Bbq'd every night and used the rice cooker provided as well as the coffee pot, microwave and toaster oven. The staff at islander on the beach could not be better, super friendly. The cocoanut marketplace next door has great stores, Whalers General Store(will have everything you need at a great price- seriously) Eggberts- big yummy breakfasts with strong $2.50 mimosa's and bloody mary's, great shopping and a killer farmers market. Stay here if you want quality but are not fancy!
The perfect accommodations.

The stay in Kauai was a fairy tale. The accommodations were excellent, the resort staff was friendly. The view was unbelievable. We did hear the sunrise every morning directly from our room. If we have the opportunity to come back, there will be no hesitation insane here again!

What great service and communication from Mary. The property was just as we had hoped. The location of the unit was great access to the pool and beach. Just a few steps for both. The unit had everything we needed for our stay. It was great. It was a great place to spend our 30th anniversary and will always be remembered as one of the best!
Great place to stay!

Loved being on the first floor. Walk out your back door on to the grounds of the complex and the beach is right there. Very nice pool and out door bar area to sit, relax and enjoy the evenings.

We had shopped around for a few months before deciding on where to stay. Have never been to Kauai. We really did not know where to start. My wife was apprehensive about not staying in a "resort" because you never know what you might get otherwise. We arrived to a resort, it had all the bells and whistles you would if you had rented from the front desk. Except we did not pay for the high cost of an ocean front unit. The unit was unbelieveable. It was clean and modernized, with a first class view. I do not think the site shows it off the way you see it in person. this was a first class, first rate resort and unit 132 was the perfect unit and location. We will definitely plan on renting with this owner again. Matt

The location of this unit within the complex is very nice. Just a few steps from the beach and pool. The poolside bar is nice but pretty spendy. It would have been nice to have some information in the condo as to nearby restaurants, shopping, beaches etc... Also some instructions for wi fi, tv channels, blue ray, safe... I have never stayed in a condo that did not give you some basic information. Housekeeping needs to clean a bit better, we had hair in the shower from a previous guest. Overall experience was very nice. Just a few little things that weren't quite right.
Thank you for your feedback. There is a owners guest book that has things to do and places to eat in the drawer of the night stand. Also in the front lobby there is a wonderful book for guests of every resturant and their menus. I will make sure to include how to use the wiifii in my book. At anytime a guest can call me or email me if they cannot locate something. I will take any and all suggestions to heart to ensure everyone has a perfect stay.

We could not have imagined a nice place. Really the pictures and description were helpful but its nothing like when we first walked in the unit. What a charming place, right on the ocean, walking distance to many activities, and centrally located to both sides of the island. Unit 132 was very cute, very clean and very very adorable. It was a perfect size for just my husband and I. I recommend walking down the beach and eating at all the places during happy hour. We found some great places to sit have dinner on the water. One thing I would change is after we left Unit 132 we stayed in Hanalai for a few days. We paid 1 half times more and wish we had stayed the whole time in 132. Much better value and better location. We will definatly be coming back. I want to mention that we were so glad to have had the bottom floor, a big plus.

This studio condo was a really great find! My husband, son and I had a fantastic time in Kauai and part of this was the condo. It was easy to check-in and communicate with Mary, the owner. She was very helpful and cheerful. The condo is on the bottom floor so it was very easy to get around. My 2-year old just loooved to slide out of the bed in the morning and run outside to play on the grass. The ocean was very close but not too close to be concerned about my son's safety. Pool is right next door, along with the tiki bar :-) King size bed and little kitchenette, nice bathroom, beach equipment to use, TV (which we actually never turned on). I really could not ask for more. We were happy! I highly recommend this place!
Pleasant and relaxing.

We had a great two weeks at Islander in Unit 137. Our three complaints are that the automatic door closer is way too strong(as we have found in other units in the facility) and the door does not fit/close easily. Also, as is true in all the units at the Islander, the sliding glass door and the curtains are at odds with eachother; the door should have opened from the end, not the middle. Our unit was clean, stocked, and ground floor, with a short walk to the pool and beach. We'll stay there again. Lee chambers, Oregon

This is a very nice, clean condo that included everything we needed during the course of our vacation! The kitchenette is stocked with gadgets. Beach towels, chairs and cooler also came in very handy. The location is great!! It seems to be located about 1/2 way between just about any destination on the island. There is a cute little shopping center just across the street and plenty of restaurants within a short drive or in some cases even walking distance :) I love love loved my stay here! I will be back :)

I booked a condo through aloha resorts and the experience couldn't have been easier. Communications were quick and easy and everything was exactly as described. The location of this condo is wonderful as it is a 2 second walk to the beach and the pool. In addition there is a shipping center within a 3-5 minute stroll. The condo was like a well-stocked hotel room and for the price, could not be beat. It was clean and filled with all the beach accessories you would need. Overall this was a wonderful experience.

This condo was wonderful. Free parking and wifi. It's on the bottom level of the three story condo which I thought I would not like but It was awesome to just open up the great big sliding glass door to walk to the pool which was steps away and also the hot tub and the bar! Also great when we had a handful of clothes to wash at the laundry room. It had everything we needed beach towels plenty of bath towels. We used the small fridge provide and got water bottles and other drinks and everyday filled the small cooler (also provided) with ice (there is an ice bin just steps away the front door) and had cold drinks for the car/beach. Saved us some money. Bought Kauia coffee and enjoyed that every morning on the patio. Our only bummer was that we noticed you can hear clanking of cabinet doors and if people are being a bit noisy you can hear it. When this happened we played our music softly and just tuned it out :-) we had to move to a resort for two days after because we didn't have the condo for 7 full days. Luxurious resort, but we had to pay for parking $14 a day and they wanted $13 for wifi !! Craziness. Also bonus was that grocery store was very close! Safeway is down the road. If you want a sweet retreat come here..if your lookin to party all night long don't. My husband and I loved the stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this unit for 8 days in December 2012 and to be honest we were a little worried as to what we would be staying in, because if you've compared prices to other hotels this unit was a steal. I was dreading being stuck in roach motel, but upon arrival I was very pleased with our choice of stay. First thing I noticed walking into the unit was how clean it looked and smelled. Before we found the unit though, we had some difficulty locating the unit, everyone we asked seemed to point us in the wrong direction, so a map of the grounds before hand may have been useful. However, the rental company was quick to help and answer any questions we had. The unit had many useful amenities that you would not have found staying at a regular hotel. Things such as real beach towels, like pretty colorful big ones. This was very fortunate for us as we decided to not pack, so this saved us money. There was nice welcome package with a tourist video, coffee, candies, and all sorts of things. Other things like BBQ utensils, ice chest, beach chairs, sand toys, and more also came in great use. The room had a decently sized bathroom and although we didn't use it much, the a/C unit was nice at time. They didn't want clothing hung off the furniture, a drying rack of some kind would have been useful. The pool and beach was just a short walk from the Lanai. We cooked food on the hotels brand new Bbq's and enjoyed the company of fellow travelers and locals at the tiki hut by the pool most nights. The only con I can think of that the beach isn't the nicest, but Kapaa is a great place to stay as it a good starting point to head North or South for the day which is what we did. We enjoyed the farmers market on Thursdays in coconut marketplace and all the stores there as well. I would definitely stay again! I gave them 5 stars based on what I was told I was purchasing and what I actually got for my money.

In summary: This condo is small. But at the price ($89/nt+tax) it was perfect. If you want more, you pay more. This was the least expensive option I could find and it met all my needs perfectly. Couldn't ask for a better value. The good: The owners make the most out of this small space. For example, the kitchenette is equipped with a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave but also a coffee pot (8-cup) and toaster oven. It also has dishes and utensils and 3 cutting boards (incl. 1 that is large enough to cover the sink, creating a little more work space). By being a little creative (heating water in the coffee pot, broiling steaks in the toaster oven), I found that this tiny kitchen had everything I needed to eat-in and minimize my food costs. There are also grills by the pool if you prefer that option. Some other nice touches: the beach towels and chairs are fantastic; the chairs at the little table are quite comfortable; I fell in love with the comforter; and they have an iPod docking station with alarm clock that I really enjoyed. They also provided a really good island guide book (on loan) and a journal for sharing experiences with owners/future guests. I took that guide book with me everywhere, it was so helpful. The bad (nitpicky things only): There are no carpets, all the floors are tiled. Easy to keep clean, but not pleasant to walk on 1st thing in the morning. I suggest you pack slippers or house shoes. The heavy privacy curtain opens/closes easily, but the thinner curtain gets stuck on the tracks - guess that one doesn't get opened as often. The air conditioner looks rusty, but works fine. The bathroom fan sounds like it needs some attention, and it's annoying that it comes on every time I turn the light on, but it works as it should.

My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with the location, amenities and service we received from private Condo 158 owner Mary Ransbury at aston's Islander at the Beach. It has a good-sized comfortable bed (I wouldn't want to bring a couple of kids here, but for a couple its great), periodic parking problems that occurred mainly at night were easily solved by the security guard at the adjoining Cocoanut Marketplace.Free internet service was reliable, the Managers special at happy hour at the Tiki Bar at the pool was a buck a beer proving that you can catch a deal on food and beverages in Hawaii. Just a little piece of paradise on the Garden Isle of Hawaii, Kauai, try it once and I'll bet you'll be back, I know we'll be back.

I rented this condo through the owner on aloha Condos web site. The rental process was efficient with no glitches. The condo was lovely. The bed was super comfortable with lots of pillows. There was a view of the ocean from the lanai where I enjoyed many meals. The condo was immaculate and well supplied with beach towels, mats and chairs, as well as dishes and kitchen utensils, blender toaster oven and microwave. Free wifi was great . Although the unit was ground floor it still felt private as there was not much foot traffic in front of the unit. The complex has a casual friendly vibe and I felt totally comfortable as a solo female traveller. Walking along the ocean at sunrise was magical. The location is convenient for restaurants, shopping and driving to the north or south shore, and would be perfect if the beach was swimmable.
A cozy cottage by the sea.

This condo was everything we hoped it would be. My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to Kauai, and we could not have picked a better place to stay. The location is easily reached from the airport and equidistant from both west and north side attractions. Check-in was easy and the condo staff were helpful during all our interactions with them. Yes, the condo really is that close to the beach. Walking thirty seconds to the beach to watch the sunrise, then drinking our coffee on the patio = perfect. The room was well-stocked and comfortable, which we distinctly appreciated on our first day in, since our luggage arrived late. We saved money by eating some of our meals at home thanks to the well-supplied kitchen. The beach gear provided was a very nice touch too! The only things that might be considered downsides were not issues for us, but might be for other people. The room was perfect for the two of us but might be crowded with more folks, despite the sofa bed. The pool, hot tub and bar were low-key and spacious, but might be underwhelming for people who want the feel of a busy luxe resort chock full of tourists. We felt these were advantages, but to each his own.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. It was basically the size of a hotel room with a kitchenette crammed in, but it worked well for the two of us...not sure I could handle it with 4 people there. The unit was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The ocean is visible from the lanai and it was nice to sit outside in the mornings and watch it or walk over and sit in the many chairs that were on the beach. It's right by the coconut marketplace and some of the best Shave Ice on the island (according to Kauai Revealed). Everything else in Kapaa is just a short drive away. One thing that was an issue was parking. There is not near enough parking for the units and if we got back any later than 6pm, we had to park on the road or in the parking lot next door. It wasn't a bad walk, but it was annoying when we got there the first night after dark and had to drive all over looking for parking. We didn't use the pool or other facilities, but they looked nice. Enjoy!

I would highly recommend Islander on the beach, especially for someone looking for a convenient location on the east side of the island, and more-so for anyone looking for a quiet and less touristy accommodation - perfect for a honeymoon. The unit was very clean and well stocked with all the essentials as well as some nice unexpected extras for the beach, kitchen, and laundry. It's much nicer than staying in a hotel where you feel like you're surrounded by other people sharing the same amenities. The management staff was also very pleasant and helpful, with check-in & check-out a breeze. I forgot some important personal belongings in the room when departing and the management company collected them and mailed them to me without hassle. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Great value, location, and amenities! Condo is situated in the middle of the island. So, it make is easy to drive half of the island one day and the other half the next day...Then you could easily get to any spot on the island from this location. Value of the condo was great...You get a little kitchenette with a microwave, sink and fridge...It doesn't have a stove/oven, but there are BBQ at the pool area where you can Q up some good grinds if choose to. The pool is open till 10pm and the pool bar is open till 9pm...The thing about Kauai is that shops close up early, so the pool is a good place to unwind after a funfilled day of activities (surfing, site seeing, hiking, kayaking/paddleboarding along the rivers and etc.)!
Beautiful studio, fantastic location

It's always a little nerve racking to book a room based on photos from thousands of miles away (Oklahoma) but this studio condo was perfect for our needs. The room was bright, clean and well decorated. The lanai opens to the beach and the pool, both which are just steps away. The bathroom is much larger than it appears in the photos. We arrived late in the evening (around 9pm) and had to unload our luggage at the curb and it felt as though we were putting the front desk folks out by asking them how to get to our unit. We received no assistance with a luggage cart as "they were locked up for the evening". I think is more the resorts issue and not who we rented the unit through and on another hand, front desk lady could have just been having a really bad day. The laundry room hours were a bit modest in my opinion, 8am - 10pm - no one wants to do their laundry during daylight hours while in Kauai! - Other than that, it was the perfect vacation. The other vacationers were pleasant, met a few at the designated smoking area and at the pool. We received a fantastic welcome bag on our door the first morning full of goodies, a very nice touch! Room was absolutely perfect. I couldn't have planned a better visit!

We stayed in 158 after a few nights in less than accommodations (hostel and hotels), so it was nice to have a large comfortable bed, TV/internet and bathroom with the softest bath mates I've ever stepped on! A lot crammed into a small space, not in a bad way, but I couldn't image sharing the condo with 4 people. Perfect for a couple, very comfortable with the modern technologies. The kitchenette served it's purpose and a couple we met at the pool were jealous we had a blender, which came in handy. The location of the room itself made it easy to walk to beach, pool, and parking and not deal with stairs.

We did our annual girls beach trip to Kauai and stayed in Islander 158. The property is fantastic, very nice and quiet most nights, and definitely peaceful during the day. The beach is pristine and not crowded at all. The room (Islander 158) is very clean, great decorations, big screen TV and dvd player to watch cheesy beach movies in the evening, and the lanai had a nice view of the water. Highly recommended!!

My family and I had a wonderful 6-night stay at the Islander on the Beach! The first morning we woke up we walked right outside of our lanai to see the sunrise and my 6-yo son says, "Mommy, I never knew how cool Hawai'i would be!" We love the island of Kaua'i and staying here made it feel much more relaxing and like home. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends. It's affordable, comfortable, private, and everything you could ask for in condo-living.

This unit and property is a great value. Sitting on the lanai you can see the ocean. The kitchenette is great for preparing simple meals (dining out can be expensive in Kauai). The location is fairly central on the Island. The room is tastefully decorated and includes WiFi and a flat screen.

The condo was clean and the complex was well maintained. We liked being being located right on the beach, which although it is not the most popular beach area on the island, was still perfectly fine for us because it was uncrowded and quiet. We liked being able to take a long walk down the shoreline, which has some rocky areas that have small tidepools with sealife in them. We were also able to sit on the patio of the condo and have an ocean view when it was too windy to sit on the beach. The condo was tastefully decorated also. There were some places to eat and shop at within walking distance and it is located roughly halfway between the north and south areas of the island. There was only one annoying negative---the parking situation is poor, and gets worse the later you come back--after dark it just sucks.

My wife and I stayed at Unit #158 for eight days at the end of May, 2010. The unit was impeccably maintained and everything functioned as it should. The location of the unit within the complex is exceptional (only 50' +/- from the beach). The proximity to parking and shops at the Coconut Marketplace was well appreciated by my wife. Proximity to good restaurants and the special places my wife and I have found on the island is great. We have stayed at the Islander five times in the past ten years and this was absolutely our best experience so far, and the cost was the most reasonable of all our trips. We will stay here again.

What a fabulous location. All you really need is right at this location. You are walking distance to shopping at the coconut market place. Walking distance to live entertainment or great dinning next door. You can walk out and rent bikes and ride the bike trail. You can sit and relax at the pool bar for a great view and refreshment. You can make your coffee and walk out onto the ocean to enjoy it. Everything is simply right out from your lanai. Hiking is all but 5 to 10 min away. Great place, charming location, simple and easy. I dont think I wouldnt need a car if I can work out a few pick ups for the hiking trails. And get a pick up from the airport. Mary

It was a nice place, centrally located on the island of Kauai at Kapaa. There was limited parking however. It seemed that the bartender at the poolside bar at the Islander was kind of grumpy. Reasonably priced and clean. Kristin was kind enough to call us on the day of the tsunami, as we were supposed to arrive that day, and inform us of the warning.
A very good place to stay, steps from the beach.

We got the service we expected and needed. The home is perfect related to the price we payed. A coffeemaker was not available! That is a pitty. One of the best locations on the Island of Kauai direct near the Ocean and beach.Trees near the shoreline to sit in the shade if necessary. The best is the groundfloor level of the unit with a beautifull view on the shoreline from the Lanai. The waves come rolling to you! The area of the complex is nice to walk around and very quiet. Absolutly not any traffic noise at all!!! The surrounding area has also class. We go back sometime, but it takes 2 full days of travelling from our home in The Netherlands

We stayed for 11 nights in Condo 158 Oct/Nov. We got a really good value for the price. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. We really appreciated having the internet available as it made online bookings and "activity surfing" convenient and easy. Loved the closeness of the beach, the proximity to restarants, shopping etc. Recommendations: a couple of nice acrylic wine glasses, a cork screw, and a little bigger coffee machine for that Kauai coffee we love so much!! Thanks for the great place to stay!

The room was exactly like the pictures. I thought that the fridge had a freezer, so I was surprised that it didn't. I just assumed, so that was my error. we made breakfast and lunches in the room and ate out for dinners. It saved us money. We had plenty of towels and necessity supplies. One suggestion would be one King size bed instead of two double beds. It would give more room for maybe a built in countertop or full kitchen. We loved the internet access, very convienent. The Aloha staff (Kristen) was great, we called her several times for assistance with a broken lock and a lost key. she was very helpful and service oriented. she was great!!!!

Kristen from Aloha Condos was very helpful and accommodating. The unit was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great - just a few steps to the beach. You can see the ocean from the back porch. It took some time figuring out how to control the air conditioning - would have been helpful if there was an instruction sheet. We made use of the fridge and the microwave. Glad to have cups, dishwashing liquid, sponge, and paper towel available for our use. The bath towels were soft, just like from home. I did have a visitor in the shower one day...kind of freaked me out. There was a cockroach about 2" long on the shower curtain. I guess being on the first floor, gives the critters better access to the unit. We didn't have any problems parking, but, we did come back before 8 pm every night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Perfect, Clean and Affordable.

I booked online easily, and got a great rate. There were no surprises as the website had lots of pictures and videos. We were delighted with how clean the condo was. Nice linens. We had a microwave and fridge which saved us a lot of money - as did the free wireless in the room. The best part was being right on the beach. The trade winds are strong on the east side of the island and we enjoyed the tropical breezes blowing through the room. We could also walk to a lot of restaurants from Islander. The pool is cute, and has a poolside bar.

I stayed here for a week in October and loved it. The condo was newly decorated and immaculate. The bed was super comfortable. Plenty of towels and beach towels, as well as 4 comfortable Tommy Bahama beach chairs, and 2 boogie boards. There was also a soft sided cooler , and reusable shopping bags(no plastic bags in stores on Kauai). I didn't do much cooking other than coffee in the am and making a salad, but the unit has barbecue tools(there are 3 barbecue grills by the pool),and sharp knives (not always found in rentals in my experience), as well as dishes, glasses and silverware for 4, measuring utensils, a colander, salad bowl and platter for taking food to the barbecue area. There also were "tupperware " containers for leftovers, and a separate compartment freezer on the fridge for ice cream. Plastic glasses for taking a drink to the pool area. Kristen was easy to work with during the rental process, and there were no problems. The location is convenient to both the north and south shores, and grocery stores and restaurants are close by. Two restaurants are on the property, Kilauea Fish market which has killer ahi wraps and other good fish dishes, take out or eat in BYO, and Trees lounge which has live music and a happy hour as well as good food. Hukilau Lanai is a great restaurant a five minute stroll away. The beach is a little rough for most swimming although I did see some people in the water while I was there, but the sunrises from the property are incredible. One of my favorite things was sitting on the lanai with my coffee and watching the sunrise and sunset reflected in the clouds. The view from the lanai is as pictured, and I didn't have to do any contortions to get it. I would stay here again for sure. Oh there also were some paperbacks for beach reading, and free wifi.

We stayed in this condo for two weeks in July 2013 and were very happy with it. The interior of the condo is very tasteful and in excellent condition. We were even provided great beach towels and two sets of foldable beach chairs. Upon our arrival, we even found a sweet welcome package waiting for us - a very nice surprise! The Wifi internet was very fast and reliable. Parking is free as well. Kristen was extremely helpful and thoughtful. When a tropical storm had been predicted to hit Kaua'i on the day of our flight to Honolulu, she wrote us an email to inform us about this and that we might want to check if our flight was still on. In case that our flight would be cancelled, she offered us that we could stay another couple of nights. We once managed to get ourselves locked out of the condo on a Sunday night and Kristen arrived within 15 minutes to let us back in. We would definitely recommend this condo for anyone visiting Kaua'i. We had a wonderful stay there!

Renting a privately owned condo, found through the web, made me very nervous. What if we got there and it was a bait and switch? Well, all I can say is that we stayed 5 days in Unit 224, and for the price that we paid; it was beyond my best expectations! It is a gem. We found the unit clean, well stocked and nicely appointed. Most of all, however, was the view and location. We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it without hesitation. This unit truly has a million-dollar view! Being on the second floor is great, too. You are up just enough to see over the low dunes, for a full ocean view, and yet feel secure in leaving the sliding glass door open with the screen closed, to hear the surf lull you to sleep. Early risers will love the balcony -- the "lanai" -- to enjoy a cup of coffee, read and watch the sun come up. The location of the unit, in Kapa'a, is also great. It is the perfect distance from everywhere. You will want to go to the south and west side, but you will also want to go to the north coast. Kapa'a is right in the middle. Wal-Mart and Costco are just 15-20 minutes down the road in L?hu'e, where the airport is located. Amenities of the unit include a couple of lawn chairs, and two beach towels. There are a couple of boogie boards on the patio. There are robes in the wardrobe, and plenty of extra soaps and shampoos in the bathroom, which is a nice touch. The air conditioner worked great, but we mainly just left it off, and opened the screen door. Free Wi-Fi was a breeze to access. There are some basic things in the kitchenette, like salt/pepper, silverware, knives, cutting board, etc. There is a microwave and toaster oven. Don't do what we did, and overlook the blender tucked under the sink. Pina Coladas over the rocks are just not the same! If you want to be more sociable, without actually driving anywhere, the Sand Bar at the complex's pool is a nice thatched roof tiki/palapa style hangout. Remember, Kaua'i has DUI checkpoints.

The only other complaint was that the in-room safe was not working during our stay.

Stayed in condo 224 for 5 nights. we couldn't have asked for a better location to the activities on the island. Condo was well equipped with all we needed to include Beach chairs and umbrella. Unit was a bit cramped with 3 people especially when the couch was pulled out into an extra bed. Couch cushions were a bit stained and could use a cleaning. Even though there were plenty of towels they all had a very musty, moldy smell which was unpleasant when drying off. All in all it was fantastic waking up and enjoying the sunrise off the balcony every morning.

As soon as you open the door to unit 224 you are greeted by a million dollar view. It is exactly as pictured and the sound of the surf is a perfect background. The unit has lovely amenities: high quality linens and lotions. The "kitchen" is amply stocked, and plenty of restaraunt choices are within a five-minute walk. I recommend The Fish Hut in the Coconut Market Place, and then you can walk along the beach to burn it off! Hotel staff were very friendly, and they have computers to confirm return flights. One note on the unit: two people would be the limit, and I would have liked a little step stool to reach the glasses and other items on the top shelf of kitchen.

Positives: Exceptionally clean and modern. View is spectacular. Islander has nice pool and hot tub. Grounds are meticulously groomed. Lots of towels and beach accessories. Comfortable bed. Air works perfectly. Liked the proximity to the Coconut Market Place and to Kapaa. Service from aloha Condos was very good.Loved sitting on the lanai with a glass of wine. Negatives: Parking was an issue during the evening when the restaurants were in demand. Condo was small (probably a converted hotel room)and I wouldn't want to stay more than a few days as I like my space. Beach wasn't really walkable or swimable. However, it is just steps from your room. This condo is not suitable for people needing an elevator to access a second story unit as there is no elevator.

There were supplies everywhere - from salt, ziplocks and sugar to shopping bags. You will feel welcome, you will feel relaxed, you will be pleased at the cleanliness, you will feel at home, you will be happy. I would move here. (Practically, I will note that if your family is physically larger than two adults and either one more adult or two children it'll be too small. It was perfect for our family of three.) The kitchen cupboard had a variety of things not usually found in a condo - storage baggies, tin foil, sugar, paper plates, etc. My husband loved starting each day on the lanai as the day awoke. The view is just awesome! The people who manage the room were so nice - within an hour of arriving, we had locked ourselves out of the room and someone had to come to let us back in. The lady who came was so nice about everything even though it had interrupted her evening. We enjoyed comraderie at the pool bar during happy hour a couple of afternoons. We just returned from a week at Islander on the Beach Condo #224. I felt it was an incredible value for a beach front property. The room was clean and well furnished with a microwave, toaster oven, fridge and coffee maker, and kitchen necessities. Also included were beach chairs and a cooler bag. I loved sitting on the lanai or on the uncrowded beach (on property provided lounge chairs) reading. The only negative might be that the water is quite rough so children would probably not be able to ocean swim. But the pool with poolside bar was lovely and never crowded. The property was also conveniently located between the North Shore and Popiu Beach. I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to friends looking for a great Kauai value.

Kapaa is a good place to discover Kauai and a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around. Only one thing : the beach is not really attractive but you take your car and you go everywhere you want.

Iron, board & hair dryer. P. towels, t. tissue, dish soap, sponge, & toiletries. Towels are thick & soft. 2 beach/pool towels. The bed/linens were very comfortable. There is free wireless internet in this room! Sofa opens to full size bed & table w/2 chairs. Also a table w/2 chairs on the lanai. Bathroom is very good size w/a curved shower rod. The hot water was excellent! Stairs to 2nd floor not bad. Ice machine close by. Air conditioning was great, we cut it off 1/2 the time ast was not needed. This is not a resort with numerous amenities. We weren't looking for that. There is a pool, hot tub, gas grills, beach chairs, poolside bar. The beach is not a swimming beach though we did see people out there. Beach chairs are scattered along the beach area. There is a laundry on site. Parking is an issue at night, security assists you. We went to front desk for parking pass as instructed by security & got that w/no hassle, though we weren't checking in thru aston. Grounds are beautiful & well kept. It is quiet here. We saw a monk seal on the beach 1st morning here! Marketplace is across the parking lot w/restaurants & shops. Grocery stores, drug store, etc., are about a mile away, left side of the hwy. The condo was right in the middle of the island and very close to the airport, shopping and activities. We will be back every year. The rate was great and the view for the rate mad us feel rich! It was beach front alright. The coconut markplace had great food and was within walking distance. Recommend going to the store and getting drinks and food items. the condo have a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and a toaster oven. We saved a lot of money by cooking breakfast and lunches. Slept to the sound of breaking waves every night.
Perfect for Us

This unit was exactly as described on its website. It's a basic, clean room with a fantastic view and a great price. I personally always want an ocean front view and this one was perfect. You can get more luxurious, and expensive, accommodations next door at the Beachboy, but the view is everything to me. The air conditioning worked great and I think the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. I even pulled off the sheets to see what it was. So if you are looking for a clean, inexpensive, centrally located room for two with a great view then this is the place. I would certainly come back here.

This condo was just what we needed for our stay in Kauai. We were out and about all day but it was great to come back here to crash in the evenings and listen to the ocean. Loved sitting on the deck and watching the waves. Love the location of Kapaa too. Highly recommend this condo.
Right on the Ocean!

Great value for this 2nd floor condo right on the beach. A bit of a drive to the activities of the north shore - but it's a lovely drive. The condo is well equipped, meticulously clean, and very comfortable. It's not large yet still has everything we needed. We slept with the sliding glass door open and heard the waves all night long. Wonderful.
Very nice condo, very nice complex

We stayed in unit 225 in the Kauai building for seven nights in June. This was our fourth trip to Hawaii and have always considered Islander on the Beach, but always chose to stay elsewhere. This trip we decided to give it a try and wondered why we haven't done it sooner. The complex itself is very nice. It is well maintained and manicured with a very nice pool, hot tub, and outdoor, staffed bar. The beach is also nice, and the complex leaves beach chairs out there for the guests. It is situated well in Kapaa, near restaurants, grocery, etc. The unit itself that we stayed in was perfect. It was clean, comfortable, and updated. The pictures do not lie, and depict what you actually see in the condo, or the great view from the lani. I can't say enough about the condo, complex, and overall very reasonable price to stay there. We hope to make it back to Kauai soon, and next time, we can save a lot of time and effort and just book this unit again. Thanks.
Convenient location with a great view.

I went in with low expectations since I was not paying much for a condo on the beach. Everything would have been okay since my expectations were low but the fact that the housekeeping was so poor and that my friends had a totally different experience in condo 250 really affected my impression of condo 225. When I first entered the condo, I was quite impressed by the proximity to the ocean. It was great to hear the ocean all night. Second thing I noticed was a very musty smell that never went away despite opening up the door and spraying it with Lysol. Next I noticed a dirty washcloth that was left in the shower. I found this totally inexcusable! The housekeeper also left a bottle of Lysol on a counter. There was also grime around the sink. Another sign of the very poor housekeeping was the coffee pot was full of old coffee and a used filter. My friends' condo, 250, was spotless. Her owner provided her with robes, a welcome basket, videos, and games. We were not provided with any of this. On a positive note, our bed was very comfortable. We were very disappointed in the pool and spa since they were the size of our backyard pool and spa. Both were always too crowded to use. If the condo had been clean, I would have been satisfied since I was not paying much. The poor housekeeping did not allow me to use the kitchen because I was disgusted by the dirtiness. This was a primary reason that I had chosen a condo over a hotel room. If I did return to The Islander, I would book condo 250.
We are very sorry for the issues you encountered during your stay in unit 225. As you can see from our many other reviews our guests usually have an excellent experience and the condo is very clean. We have spoken to the housekeepers about this incident and they are duly upset. Iâm sure it will not happen again. We always leave a can of Lysol in the bathroom as guests appreciate and use this amenity. The homeowner last year upgraded the beds to king size beds and purchased new Egyptian cotton sheets. She has also just purchased new bedspreads as well, so we are delighted you found the beds comfortable. This condo has a licensed on-island contact on call 24/7 and the contact information is posted in the unit and included in the emails confirming the reservation. Any guest who encounters such problems is most welcome to call and we will rectify any issues immediately.
This is the best place ever!

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about this place being "right on the beach" and of all the great reviews that it had. Well, we were late getting in because of flight delays. We arrived about 12:30 in the morning. We couldn't see a thing out our sliding door. But let me tell you when we woke up to a beautiful sunrise we felt glad that we had this condo. It is right on the beach. The management was excellent! Our a/c wasn't working and they were right on it. However after it was fixed we never used it. Just prop open the door and open the slider and the breeze furnished all the fresh air we could hope for. Since we were on the 2nd floor we felt safe enough to leave our sliding door open while sleeping to listen to the crashing waves all night. It's nice location is great for restaurants, shopping and fabulous food shacks. The grounds that the condo is on (The Islander on the Beach) were impeccable. The pool a little cold but the ocean (who needs a pool) was just right. There are lounge chairs on the beach. Lots of sandy shallow water to just stand in and put yourself into relax mode. We wouldn't hesitate to book this place again. In fact, we were a little bummed that "someone" else was sleeping in our condo after we left! We lived on Oahu a long time ago and this condo reminded us of our little apartment. There was nothing we didn't like. It's not the "high hoity toity" place that some may want but it was everything we wanted or needed for 12 great relaxing nights.
Great reasonable condo on the beach!

We rented this condo from an owner, not the Islander corporation itself, and that made all the difference in the world. There was everything we needed in our condo, which is really no more than a big hotel room with a kitchenette and a great lanai (balcony). Dishes, silverware, spices in cupboard, cleaning products as well as paper products, even paper plates. There was even a wine opener, which we appreciated, as well as a blender for smoothies, using the fruit products from the local farm market. When we noticed the cooler was missing, a phone call and we had a new one to use. This condo is very close to the beach, so much so that my husband closed the patio door every night because the waves were so loud. The room was immaculate and the grounds beautiful and we felt blessed every day to wake up in paradise. The air conditioning unit is high on the wall and I loved the fact it didn't blow directly on us- very subtle and very efficient. One night we cooked a steak on the grill, accompanied by baked potatoes from the microwave and a salad from the vegetables found at the local farmers market which you will want to find for sure. There is only a small refrigerator with no freezer but we found it sufficient for all our food and ice is free just a short walk away. I would recommend to anyone staying here to do what we did- load a suitcase you will check through with any food items you think you'll use such as coffee, sugar, cereal, mustard, mayo, peanut butter, salad dressing, chips, cookies, any bread you can bring as well as canned goods (tuna, soup, pasta) because the food in Kauai is very expensive- be prepared for sticker shock- and we had breakfast on the lanai each morning plus prepared sandwiches to take in our cooler and water in our jug filled with ice. I would suggest suggest bringing plastic bags as well as paper cups and napkins. All in all, a great stay in a central location and I highly recommend these accommodations! Can't wait to return!!!

One of the best places we've stayed in! The condo was right on the beach with a great view from the balcony. And very private as it's on the second floor. Everything was clean and fresh. Pleasantly surprised to find a toaster oven and microwave! Loved using the beach chairs and boogey boards. Air conditioner worked when we needed it. Couple of things that can be improved; Closet had a weird smell - something needs to be done about that. WiFi stopped working the second day into our stay. Bigger beach towels would be great. Have recommended the condo to everyone who asked about our stay. :-)

Our stay at condo 225 at Islander on the Beach was great! The room was everything we expected and even seemed a bit larger than the photos provided. The kitchenette had all the amenities we needed for the stay. We enjoyed listening to the ocean at night. I would recommend a second-story room if you chose to stay at the Islander - that way you can leave your sliding doors open at night! This room looks right out over the ocean. Just remember to shut those doors whenever you leave the room so your room does not get too humid - it can happen quickly. I made use of the room's private Wifi Network, and there was a large selection of cable channels for those nights when we had exerted ourselves out and about during the day to do anything but lay in bed and watch t.v. at night! During our stay, the property was generally quiet, and we saw more couples than families. As it was our first stay in Kauai, we discovered that the Islander if very well located to access all the island has to offer! There are also several great restaurants on the property - the restaurant in the far corner of the parking lot closest to the hotel has delicious Korean bbq chicken! The bar in the pool area had great happy hour specials, too. A couple of things, however small, could have made our stay more pleasant. There was only a roll and a half of toilet paper for our seven-night stay, and we had to purchase more. Also, the tissue boxes were nearly empty when we arrived, and as I suffer from allergies those were gone quickly, too. Lastly, the first night we noticed our sheets and blankets on the bed were damp. This went away by the next day after running the a/c, but this should have been done before we arrived. However, these were just minor annoyances and did not majorly detract from our stay. I would stay here again. The price is far less than paying hotel prices and you have far fewer fees and front desk issues.
Mahalo for your review of our Islander on the Beach 225. We were delighted to have you as our guest and hope you can return again soon. We apologize for not turning on the a/c before your arrival and will be sure to do so in the future. It is our normal policy to turn it on before a guestâs arrival and we overlooked it in this instance. We also usually leave more amenities such as toilet paper and tissues, so this was overlooked and we will be sure to rectify this going forward. We would have been happy to bring you more so if you return please feel free to call our local contact for any needs such as these. We want all of our guests to have a wonderful experience.

I recently spent a week in Kauai and stayed in condo#225 at Islander on the Beach. In spite of the rainy weather we had a good time. The condo was excellent...very clean and came with all the amenities of home. Dishes, silverware, blender for the fruity drinks, microwave, small refrigerator and toaster oven. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home. There were also beach mats, beach chairs and a cooler for our use. A nice surprise was the welcome bag left for us which had a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, bottles of water, a tote bag and information about the island. They also left plenty of towels for a weeks stay. I loved the ocean front location and having morning coffee on the deck. The unit is nice for two people but would be crowded with more than two people. There is no elevator so you have to carry bags and walk up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. The location is within walking distance to some shops and restaurants. The restaurant In the resort next door is excellent !! The Islander on the Beach is a very nice property. The grounds are kept meticulously and are full of beautiful flowers. My only complaint is that it can be hard to get a parking place in the lot as there are not enough of them. I would also recommend renting a compact car since the parking spaces are narrow. This is our second year at Islander and we will definitely be back again. I would recommend unit #225 without any hesitation.

Great location. Service staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great location to travel anywhere on the island and be there within an hour and a half max. The location of this condo on the second floor was advantageous as you had more privacy than similar locations on the first floor due to heavy usage of the sidewalk next to the beach. Parking in the lot can be difficult to find at night and your only other option is to park on aleka Place (not in the Coconut Marketplace - they will tow). Several food options are available in the Coconut Marketplace or nearby - nothing fancy but good food nonetheless. The surf is rough so you won't be swimming in the ocean but the pool is a good option if you want to jump in the water.
Totally exceeded our expectations!

The condo is very well located, but was not very clean. I saw 2 cockroaches during our stay. The bed cover and blanket would need to be replaced. The curtains were not clean and the rail system was broken. The chairs and the couch were stained. It's a shame because the resort was really good.
Thank you for your candid review. The homeowners have since replaced the rail system that had suffered from the constant salt and wind, and we have cleaned the drapes as well. The sofa and chairs will be steam cleaned November 8th. As for the comforter and blanket: both are brand new, so Iâm not sure why the suggestion was made they be replaced. I apologize for the roaches. They are one of the downsides of paradise. We keep bait traps in the units for them, but it is impossible to avoid them completely in the tropics. I hope you will return to our wonderful island and to Islander on the Beach again.

We can't stop thinking about our recent visit to Kauai and stay at the Islander Condo 225. It was perfect for our family. The place was absolutely what we needed. Every day we could chill at the end of our outings (snorkeling, boat/raft trip along Na'Pali coast, hiking, boogie boarding, etc.)and love where we were staying. Nice landscaping, great "open-air" lobby where we went to get our emails, etc. wood floors, ceiling fan, relaxing and pretty decor, great pool and hot tub, tiki torches at night, drinks by the pool, and best of all, our view--straight out to the ocean. Mornings breakfast on the balcony, sometimes dinner/take-out at night, too. The moon right there over the water, or a rainbow after a rain. There are loungers down by the water's edge, too. The kitchen is great, plates silverware, bowls, blender, s & p, coffee filters and machine, microwave, frig. We had breakfast at home and two dinners at home (Bbq's are by pool). The only suggestion would be to have one more place for towels to dry out during the day. There were four of us, and two towels/day, without any kind of maid/laundry because it's not a "hotel" in our unit. With us using towels at the pool and our own at the beach, one more hanging bar in the BR would be good. The beds are good (and I'm very picky), pillows perfect. I want to return here and stay at the same condo. Love it. This was the best vacation I've had in ages. Love Kauai, too. Not a single big city, the whole island is gorgeous.

We stayed here for four nights in March 2011. The location of the condo is perfect. It is just steps from the ocean and we left the patio doors open at night to listen to the waves. We had some excitement with a tsunami warning after the Japanese earthquake, but first Kristen let us know, and then someone from the management knocked on the door to let us know we should evacuate and explained where to go. The condo is about the size of a hotel room, but with the small kitchen and the balcony, there was more than enough room. There is a great restaurant within a very short walking distance, and the little town of Kapa'a is a short drive, is a charming small town, and has everything you need. Being on the eastern shore was the perfect location for us, as it was easy to drive to all other parts of the island, and was a quick drive to the airport the morning we left. All in all, I highly recommend this condo.

Nice location and size. The unit was very musty smelling and was very wet feeling in there. Was so humid we had to sleep on towels the sheets felt wet. The TV was very hard to see. We only wanted to watch the news. I would recommend to a friend only if the price was lowered.
We are sorry you were not comfortable and wish we had known at the time.
This condo is absolute ocean front with wonderful tropical sea breezes when we have trade winds, however things in Hawaii get very humid when we have Kona conditions, which we have had the past few weeks, and that brings on dampness and mustiness very quickly. You really canât get closer to the ocean than this unit, so it is impossible to keep it absolutely dry.
That said, a brand new air conditioning system was installed a month ago which has a dehumidifier cycle as one of the key functions. We would have been happy to assist with the dampness issue had we known you were uncomfortable. The air conditioner manual is also in the condo.
I was in this unit yesterday and did not notice any mustiness, so I think recent use of the air conditioner and the return of the trade winds dried the unit out. I will examine the TV to see if the salt air has shortened its life span.

We stayed here for 10 nights and 9 days. The accommodations were excellent given the price range. We didnt need maid service, nor did we need anything fancy and this fit the bill. It was one of the cheapest places to stay on Kauai. Major pros: There was no obnoxious noises throughout the night. The staff was friendly (as was everyone). The beach was a 30 second walk and visible from the room. Centrally located to all of the island. Very comfy king size bed! More pros :) AC Plenty of towels Microwave, oven, fridge, many utensils and napkins, bags, etc... Cons (If you really want to call them that): The beach near the room is nice, but it isnt one you go to Kauai for, nor one you stay at for more than a sunrise or sunset, having said that, the island is big and beautiful, so this wasn't a problem for us.

He just actually said, I would not change one thing about it. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something calm, simple, and clean. It's walking distance to food too! Don't think we would have wanted to be any closer as the ocean and waves are very beautiful but noisy if you want to leave the door open for sleeping. Bed comfort was So-So for us. Maybe we are just spoiled from home. I might mention that there are no elevators so whatever you bring you will be hauling them up and down the stairs. Would have given it 5 stars;however, there were a few maintenance issues that were not really a big problem but were annoying. As others have stated the parking is a problem if you return late in the evening. They do have overflow parking at the nearby resort and businesses but we never had to use them.

Proximity to the sightseeing destinations was central to our wishes, with attendent dinner locations (both take-out and restaurant) accessible by foot and by car. The view from our room and deck during the day was great, as was the sound of the ocean during the evening and night hours. The screening of bushes allowed privacy, with the location of buildings providing both privacy and shelter from the full sun and wind. The noise from the construction was not problematic with the 8:30 start and the 4:30 stop. My wife and I enjoyed our 9 day home away from home stay in very clean and pleasant surroundings - it's even nice not being bothered by cleaning staff, as we had all necessary toiletries, towels and bedding available. The home was quiet, comfortable and provided excellent computer access. The mini fridge and microwave were sufficient for breakfast and lunch preparation. Our single son, Ryan, had stayed in the Islander a year ago and had recommended it highly, even though he thought our preference would have been provision of a full kitchen. I apologize for not writing comments in the guest book. Would return again, with possible interest in purchase of a unit! Thanks for a wonderful vacation available at a reasonable rental rate. Also the coffeepot leaked, so we were unable to use it after the first morning. We were also bummed to find out that the mini frig had no freezer area, we would have liked to bought microwave foods. We did appreciate all the utensils in the kitchen all the extra towels that was a wonderful surprise..thank you for that. The condo was very clean, everything worked (appliances), it was convenient to the beach, shopping, eating places and the event (hula dancers) happening in the area. The Farmers Market was wonderful at the nearby parking lot with everything fresh and with friendly locals. The area surrounding the condo was pleasant, clean and quiet at night time. We would definitely come back and would recommend the place to our loved ones. Thank you for being there (easy access) returning my calls and e-mails on a timely manner. We recently stayed at condo #259 for 12 days. The resort has a breathtaking landscape with walkways along the beach that offer a good walk to the residents. There's nothing I enjoy more than long walks breathing the ocean breeze on the beach every night with my husband. The facility is spacious and comfy provided with country-style furniture. Bathroom and bath towels are nice and clean. However I found that the kitchen is quite small which contains only a small fridge, a microwave, and a kitchen sink. Beneath the sink are drawers for utensils, and above it are cabinets for dinnerware/seasonings. No cooking stoves provided. In addition, the sofa has a damp smell and pillow case/bed sheets do not have a fresh scent. Other than that, we had a good stay at an affordable price!

Enjoyed the condo, even in the stormy weather. Our one complaint was the internet modem being locked. We contacted management several times to try and resolve the issue, but without success. In our opinion, they should have come by and unlocked or replaced the modem, as it was supposed to be functioning in our unit. We were able to secure another neighbor's connection, but only in the back of the unit. It would have been nice to sit on the Lanai and use our ipad or iphone to send photos or email home.
We apologize for the problems with the internet. We were under the impression that you were resetting the router and would let us know if that did not work. When we didnât hear from you we thought all was well. We have had difficulties with the DSL so as of June are now changing over to RoadRunner which is much more reliable on Kauai so we should not have these problems going forward.
Kristen, manager unit 259.
All we needed, pleasant setting.

Not luxury but nice and well kept up. The room is attractive and has everything you need. Balcony with view of waves, patio furniture. The beach is good for walking, we saw wind and kite surfers in February. Possibly a sea turtle in the waves, too. Great base for exploring the island. The resort next door has a terrific upscale restaurant. Coconut Marketplace has stores with good gift items. Close to McDonalds for quick breakfasts. We were on the go and this place was perfect.
It was easy and nice

We needed 2 nights to stay while our booked appartment became available. We came at night, got the key in the lock box. Were pleasantly surprised at the morning when found ourselves at a few steps from very nice beach. Room was clean and comfortable. For 4 of us we would like to have a kind of kitchen, but it is more kind of hotel. Good view from the balcony where we were having breakfast and dinners looking at the garden and ocean.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the condo. It has everything you might need (even welcomes you with a bag of goodies, thank you that was nice)and the location cannot be better. By the way, booking the place is just as easing. Thank you Kristen at aloha Condos for making it all hassle-free. Overall, a great place to stay and good people to deal with. Next time we are on Kauai, we'll book this condo. Hands down, the best.

Islander on the bEach 259 had everything we needed. There was lots of space and everything was very modern and new. The a/c was a nice touch after a day at the beach. The location of the resort is perfect. It is right in the middle of the island for easy trips north or south. Do not miss Wiamea Canyon or Kee Beach during your trip. Having Coconut Marketplace next to the resort was great because we could walk over for breakfast, lunch or dinners. Overall I can't think of anything that would have made this trip or condo any better. It is not the St Regis and we weren't expecting it to be. It was a great resort with a nice pool bar.

We really enjoyed our stay in 259. I think the only thing that condo would really benefit from is a toaster over rather than just a plain toaster. We loved the location as it made it easy to take trips to either side of the island. Parking was ok and could be a little challenging when returning in the evenings. We loved our view of the ocean. The condo was very clean and amenities were clean and up to date. We would go back again!

The condo exceeded our expectations & the pictures didn't do it justice. Very clean & quiet. We were concerned about the parking mentioned by others but don't let this stop you from booking, the on-site security assisted you with parking if you arrived late so it was never a problem. To wake up and be oceanfront on your own lanai is incredible. The sunrise from the lanai was also an added bonus & surprise. The pool area is great and was never crowded. You can't beat the rate or the location, we will book again! It was a great experience & vacation.
