Condo 3504 | Kanaloa at Kona

Thanks for the use of your lovely Condo. We had a great time and your unit is one of the best we have stayed in at Kanaloa. We hope to rent from you again in the future. We had a total of 22 days with only one day of rain. Could have not asked for better weather. I’m sure the people there now are having a great vacation. The view from the deck is assume. Enjoyed watching all the surfers each day. Was not brave enough to do my self. Wish I was young enough to try. 12 rounds of golf, two trips on the Fairwinds and a good day of fishing on the Blue Hawaii. Need a rest!! Thanks again for the opportunity to share your condo. Hi Lowell, We loved staying at Kanaloa and your unit is beautiful. It is very well equipped and it is nice to have things like tupperware and spices and such! It's more like staying in someone's home and that is nice. So many condos have such bare bones of equipment. Our daughter loved the murphy bed and she really appreciated how comfortable it is - she hates when she gets stuck sleeping on sofa beds! The two lanais are also lovely and the teak furniture is so nice. The master bedroom is very nice and the bed is very very comfortable. We also appreciated the beach towels and the boogie boards. It was just wonderful. As for Kanaloa, we really liked the complex and the views are wonderful. The complex is very well looked after and the location was perfect for us. We used the pool by the ocean several times. They have opened a restaurant by the pool now and it is serving breakfast and lunch. I understand that there used to be a restaurant there but it had closed a few years ago. Well, the new one is great and we ate there a few times. The food was good and the prices were probably the cheapest of any meal we had anywhere on Hawaii! It was definitely a great little find. I understand that the new owner is looking at also opening for dinner in the coming months. Anyways, thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. If we are ever back in Hawaii, we'll remember your place. And we'll recommend you to anyone else we know who might be heading to the Big Island. Thanks again, Bev — B.B. December 2008

Dear Lowell,
 
This was our first time to the Big Island and this year we took our 11 year old niece along on our annual August trip to the islands.  We really enjoyed the use of your unit 3504 at the Kanaloa at Kona.  The process to rent was efficient and simple as was getting to the unit and entering (no going to another location to pick up keys or check in!).  The unit itself was clean, spacious, well furnished and tastefully decorated.  My niece thought she had died and gone to heaven when she saw the Murphy bed!  We particularly enjoyed the teak dining table out on the deck overlooking the water which made each meal special.  We also appreciated having the cooler and beach stuff (plenty of good quality beach towels, beach mats, kids snorkel gear, boogie boards) available for our trips to the various beaches of the island.  The complex is in a quiet location and the grounds are well kept, my niece really enjoyed making regular use of the pools.  It truly seemed like a home away from home and made a very pleasant and relaxing base for our adventures on the Big Island.
 
Thanks again for making the process so streamlined.  When we get back to the Big Island we will certainly consider renting your unit again and definitely recommend it to anyone planning on visiting the Big Island.

Aloha Lowell - we had a great time and really enjoyed your condo!  It's in a really good location, I even heard from one of our snorkel tour guides that Kanaloa was a good place to stay.  Some other observations and comments:
Far enough away from downtown Kona that it's quiet at night, but not too far.
Close to the Sheraton where you can see Manta Rays approach shore at night, and fabulous snorkeling at the beach at mile marker 5.5 (Keleahu'u beach, I think)
Shopping right up the hill at KTA, which we found to be less costly than safeway.
Best bargains were Mac nuts at nearby Longs Drugs and really reasonable priced breakfast at the Kona country club restaurant.
We enjoyed the walk-in shower and very comfy bed at your condo, as well as the view off the lanai.  Nicely laid out kitchen area as well, and the onsite W/D was a huge help!  I left about 2 pages of written comments in the guest book.

If we're ever back we'd like to stay here again - and I will recommend your place to others who are going to Kona!

Hi Lowell,

Thanks for the heads up regarding security deposit.

Simply put, everything in regards to unit 3504 in Kanaloa at Kona exceeded our expectations.  The view and lanai made for a relaxing combination to start the day with a tropical smoothie and to wind down at the end of the day.  We really felt comfortable, as if we were at home.  The condo was extremely clean and well-equipped, and it was hard to imagine anything more that could have been provided.  We really appreciated a couple little things like the iPod player and the blender for our morning pineapple/mango/banana smoothie!  The washer and dryer were absolutely appreciated, next time we will pack half the clothing. 

The air conditioning worked well, and we were glad it was available.  The hard work that you and Kris have expended on improvements shows, and we were honored to be able to share your home, efforts and energies in that regard.

At the end of the day, count us in as returning guests!  Please call us if you ever wind up in the Sonoma wine country, we would be delighted to return the hospitality.

We had such a delightful time in Kona due especially to the opportunity to stay in your immaculate "home"! Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful example of the true Aloha Spirit! What an amazing property you have, from the incredible floorplan, the beautiful interior and furnishings, to the fantastic master bedroom and shower, not to mention the availability of every kitchen tool and gaget known to man (and woman) kind! In addition, the fantastic view from your huge deck and the expansive Kanaloa grounds, with multiple pools to choose from as well as tennis courts, made our adventure there complete! The entire process, from scheduling our stay, locating your condo, enjoying every nook and cranny therein, plus, exploring the area, was could not have been more enjoyable.
We will certainly ask to return again and will be referring our family and friends to share in the peaceful and relaxing experience you offer.

Lowell and Kris:

I wanted to let you know we had an amazing time in your condo over Christmas.  The place was exactly how it looked on the internet and exactly what we expected.  The location was great (the view off the living room lanai is perfect) and the amenities were excellent.  The cooler and beach towels the unit were appreciated. 

We spent most of our days at the lobby pool relaxing and did a day trip to Hilo and a day trip to Volcano.  

As an early Christmas gift I received an IPOD so I was so happy to see your IPOD stereo system in the unit.  Great touch. 

I have attached a photo of us (me, Jamieson and Tim) at the Sheraton Hotel across the bay on Christmas night.  We went there for a buffet dinner (over priced but the open air restaurant was a treat and a great way to spend the evening).  It was nice to see a photo of your family in the unit also. 

We will highly recommend your unit to our friends and family.  I am sure that we will also be back within the next few years.

Thanks Lowell.  It was a magical 4 days at your beautiful home.  It was
so wonderful to sit on the lanai and listen to the waves crashing.  I
rented some snorkeling equipment and swam out into the small lagoon just
steps away, and swam with hundreds of tropical fish and even a sea turtle! 

The kitchen was incredible, and we elected to stay in and cook on 2 of
the nights.  The murphy bed was very comfortable, as was the large bed
in the bedroom.  We'll be back!

The condo was excellent and we had a wonderful time on the Big Island. I will definitely recommend your condo to any friends and/or co-workers that are looking at condos on the Big Island.
