Wonderful Kona Condo!

This was our 3rd visit to this condo and we love it! It's always very clean, quiet and the view is our favorite part! You can sit on the Lanai first thing in the morning and in the evening, have all your meals out there. It's so beautiful and relaxing to watch the small boats come & go in the little harbor, and people on kayaks everyday. We love the hot tubs, great for a night time soak after snorkeling or hiking during the day, most of the time we had the place to ourselves, no other people were at the pool at night, there are 3 pools / hot tubs to choose from!! Most resorts only have 1 hot tub. We highly recommend condo 3504, we can't wait to come back again! less

Vacationers

Unit was very tidy and everything worked well. The only problem at all was that the master bath toilet would run occasionally. Fun place to stay!!

Enjoyed our stay

Enjoyed our time there in the condo as always. Space is clean and well maintained, complex is landscaped well and the pools are lovely. The view from the lanai in the condo is great--what a relaxing space. We enjoyed the addition of the new cooler for our beach trips! Thanks and look forward to our next visit! ALOHA less

Big Island vacation

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in condo #3504. This was our fourth at the Kanaloa complex. We enjoyed meals on the oceanview lanai watching surfers, outriggers and kayakers skim over the waters. The unit itself is perfect for a couple or young family. It was as described with one bedroom, two bathrooms with a murphy bed in the great room. The condo is ideally located for island exploration; whether you are going up north to the Kohala coast or to Volcano. The market up the hill is great for stocking up the frig. The shopping center also includes several restaurants and a Saturday Farmers' Market. The breezes through the unit kept it quite comfortable; we only used the A/C on the day of arrival. Whether swimming in one of the three pools, playing tennis or golf or just watching the sunset from the grounds, this is a wonderful home-base for a Big Island vacation. Thanks to the Zimmermans! less

Wonderful stay, lovely condo

We've stayed at Kanaloa a couple of other times at other condos, and we have to say we liked #3504 best. The view is simply outstanding, over two bays with local surfers and the canoe club providing activity. For us, the Keauhou area is the best in Kona, a little off the crowded tourist Kailua sites, with the Keauhou shopping center just up the hill. The condo is very comfortable for a couple, and we had a couple of mornings with rain where we still ate breakfast on the covered lanai. When you read the guest book, one thing that stands out is the repeat guests, some as many as three stays over a period of years. The fact that we're thinking of booking again suggests this place is really, really nice - not fancy, but very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. And really, that view is just to die for. Really - not kidding. Oh by the way, there's a property at the point of the peninsula just across the first bay from the condo that's priced at $55.5 million. For a heck of a lot less, rent this condo and enjoy the same location and views. Mahalo. less

A great stay on the BIg Island

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the condo. It is very well located, convenient to downtown Kona, restaurants and beaches. The condo was well appointed, fully stocked, with comfortable beds, washer/dryer, and a huge a plus was the balcony that faced the bay. The resort is very well maintained and we especially enjoyed the ocean front pool. We would definitely consider returning on a future visit to the Big Island. less

Million Dollar View

We had a wonderful stay from 12/29/19-1/4/20. The view is amazing. The condo had everything we needed. Restaurants and groceries are very close by. The pools and bbqs were great. The owner was accommodating for our late check out. Would highly recommend this unit!

Kanaloa 3504

Our stay at Kanaloa #3504 was for only 4 nights, our stay was quite short but comfortable, the condo was clean, had all the amenities for our short stay. We spent most of our time on the deck, beautiful views overlooking the Sheraton across the water. The bathrooms were clean but needs some updating, the beds were comfortable and the time we were there we didnโ€™t need to turn on the AC. The condo was equipped with coolers and beach chairs, the beach towels needed updating have not screen worn out towels in years, other than that our stay was quite comfortable. less

modern and clean with view

The owner was kind enough to squeeze us in an opening when we rented an unit in another building that was horrible. My wife and I were thrilled from the start to the end. Not only was the view from this awesome, so were the furnishings. King bed is firm and not too soft. Showers actually have pressure and work well. A/C works fine and a fair cost, since there was no trade winds while we were there. Owner has modern televisions with cable. Lanai in the back faces south and the morning sun is blocked by wall. This is very beneficial since sitting in the sun can be hot. There is one spot on that lanai whereas you can still sit in the morning sun. The front lanai is almost always shaded and you can watch the drive. This is a second floor unit with stairs to enter. There are people above and most units have been remodeled with tile floors. I am a light sleeper and as long as you don't have kids running all night you will be happy. Just plan on sleeping 10pm - sunrise and you will be just fine. It is especially nice in the early morning for walking or running. Owner has spices, oils, etc in kitchen. We even found bug spray, sunscreen, body wash, etc in the cabinets. So, unless you are scared to use an open product there is plenty to share from previous tenants. Our most memorable thing was watching the guys surf in the small bay outside the lanai. This is just like it was back in the early Hawaiian times as we discovered while walking around Keauhou Bay. less

Wonderful Condo & View!

We just got back from Kona, we stayed here at this condo two years ago and coming back again to this place felt so good, like it's our home in Kona now. The view is amazing, you are much closer to the water than it looks in photos, it's a small harbor, boats / kayakers come & go all day, at night the boats are all lit up. I woke-up early everyday just to sit on the lanai with hot tea & enjoy the water view, then I put down a beach towel & did yoga! We Love staying here, if possible we will never stay anyplace else in Kona. 3 pools/hot tubs are awesome, so beautiful to watch the sunset out by the pool. Easy drive to local grocery store and into town... And we had The Best Snorkeling on Kona! less

Just outstanding in every way

We had the best imaginable time staying in unit 3504- there is simply nothing that was not great. Very spacious, very well equipped condo. Great location- very close to main pool, clubhouse, 2minutes walk to ocean front. Pool. BBQs, tennis courts- it has it all, but the best part was the lovely view and the sounds of the surf Condo could not be better equipped or furnished. Higher end furnishings and kitchen equipment/appliances. AC works great- strong wifi too I slept on the Murphy bed and it was as comfortable as a โ€œ realโ€ bed- nothing like a sleeper sofa. Everything worked very well, ease of parking, entry - two full bathrooms. Cannot recommend this unit highly enough. less

Great condo

The condo is great !! Everything has been updated and worked properly. AC was great, WiFi reliable and fast, clean and quite. Very nice view off balcony to a small bay. I liked the fact that is is a bit out of the downtown area, so was not so touristy. I was a solo traveler and throughly enjoyed my relaxing week. less

— David, Stayed 07/20/2019

Very nice condo if no one is staying above you

Very nicely equipped condo. Nice view of the cove next to the complex. Our only FYI for others is that this unit is not on the top floor. You will hear people walking and flushing the toilet. If the people upstairs get up at 6am your going to also be awake at 6am. less

— Paul, Stayed 07/19/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Please keep in mind that hearing walking and occasional toilet flushing is really common to all condo units that are not on a top floor. So if a guest walking above is very disturbing in any Kanaloa at Kona condo then you can call the Kanaloa security and they will talk to the guests and ask them to be aware of the hour and the noise walking may make. Or as a guest of mine you can call me and I will have security talk to the guest above. What is important to note is that the concern expressed is not unique to my condo. Also remember that not all guests are as sensitive to the same degree of stimulus (sound of walking) or how easily there sleeping is disturbed. Very few of my guests have commented on issues with other guests.

The Big Island is the best and staying at Kanaloa is always peaceful and relaxing. Condo 3504 is a nice unit with a great view and comfortable furnishings and everything you need. Great time!

Peace and Quiet

We had a lovely stay in Kona at Kanaloa #3504. The condo was quiet, well stocked, comfortable and convenient to all of the activities that we enjoy on the island. The owners were helpful and quick to respond to our questions. We hope to return to Kona in the coming years and would most definitely stay in #3504 again. less

Great Condo!

We had a wonderful stay at the Kanaloa at Kona Condo #3504. It is well equipped with all that one might want when visiting the Kona area. It is located in a peaceful and lovely complex, which is well suited for enjoying a relaxing vacation. We give it 5 stars! less

Comfortable lovely condo

Very pleased with our stay in this condo. Lovely updated decor with comfortable furniture and king bed. Gorgeous view and for the most part a very quiet complex. A few small issues that are easy fixes for the owners. The cable box in bedroom was not working, but not a big issue for but might be for others. Refrigerator water not hooked up so no ice maker. There were no ice cube trays so we had to buy ice :( Also no measuring spoons which really should be always stocked. less

A little bit of paradise at Keauhou

We had five really relaxing days staying at Kanaloa 3504. This particular condo was well appointed, had a great view, comfortable, attractive island furniture which felt like home. We loved the Koa cabinets and the granite counters - very upscale feel. There are three pools to choose from, bbq grills, close to Keauhou shopping center and Keauhou Bay. We enjoyed dinner on the lanai with the ocean view, and ate breakfast on the master bedroom deck with a view of the beautiful grounds and pool. I read that some visitors to this complex had issues with hidden fees, but we had no problems. Complex staff that we interacted with were personable and professional. Mahalo, Lowell for sharing your vacation home! less

Perfect!

Just completed my 6th or 7th visit to this unit in the last two years, which should say it all. It's been thoroughly rehabbed with tile floors, quartz counter tops and high end state of the art appliances. Its furnished throughout with exotic tropical woods and the kitchen comes equipped with every conceivable utensil. It does have an air conditioning system but never used as it has four ceiling fans and a continuous cross breeze that makes it pleasant day and night. The owner is gracious and almost obsessive about tending to details. The Kanaloa complex is spacious and beautifully landscaped and maintained. Even when its full, you still have a real sense of privacy. The only qualification is that this unit is on the second floor with no elevator, so someone with mobility issues might need some help on the stairs. less

A week in paradise

This was our second or third stay in this specific condominium (at least our fifth in this complex). An ideal location for all Big Island activities. Beautiful.

— JC, Stayed 02/22/2018

Beautiful Spot

Just completed my 5th stay at this special unit and am looking forward to a return visit in February. The condo has gone through a complete rehab with tile floors, new state of the art, high end appliances, quartz kitchen counter tops, and fine exotic tropical wood furnishings. The kitchen area comes stocked with every conceivable pot/pen and utensil needed to turn out gourmet meals. The cabinets and refrigerator are stocked with all the spices, condiments and cooking oils a good chef would need. It is a one bedroom unit, but both rooms are large enough to accommodate up to four people. The bedroom can be separated by a sliding partition from the living room for added privacy while the two bathrooms are arranged in such a way that each sleeping area has its own bathroom. The Kanaloa complex is well maintained and secure. The landscaping has a manicured look to it. The owner is gracious and tends to every detail to insure that his guests enjoy their visit. less

Loved the Condo & Resort!

We loved the condo, it was perfect, great location, and the resort was fantastic! Loved the pool right on the ocean and soaking in the hot tub after a day of snorkeling! The view from the condo is so wonderful, we really enjoyed siting out on the balcany and having breakfast and dinner. 5 Stars from us!!! less

Excellent stay!

Excellent stay! Very comfortable condo. My wife and I enjoyed the location, outside Kona but quite close enough for dinners and outings. Lovely condo with many "creature comforts" of home base. Good access to Kailua-Kona (beaches) to the north and South Point/black sand daytrips to the south. Breakfasts over the bay on the lanai were incredible to start every one of our days. Full stock of amenities all around the grounds, though Big Island Revealed guidebook proved more helpful than on-site concierge. Wonderful place! Fair Wind Cruises snorkeling was excellent and literally around the corner, 0.25-miles walk, from our condo door. Highly recommended for a Kona visit! less

— Brian, Stayed 09/21/2017

Look no further!

I can't recommend Condo #3504 enough as a comfortable, beautiful home base for a visit to the Big Island. My husband and I spent a week there, and were thrilled to have such a nice space, a beautiful view, convenient location, and air conditioning during our stay! We hope to return some day. less

— Ginny, Stayed 08/07/2017

Like a second home

There is nothing more we could ask for with this comfortable, lovely condo. We particularly liked: lovely view, 2 patios, modern appliances, 2 full bathrooms, close to parking, comfortable bed. We just brought our stuff and moved in - they have everything! We feel very grateful that the owners allow us to stay in this home. less

— Sandra, Stayed 06/28/2017

We loved it!

Great condo right on the seashore with many great features. Clean, well-furnished, and inviting. Lovely view of the bay while eating breakfast on the lanai. . Modern kitchen with a nice stock of implements and condiments. Comfortable bed in the MBR and fun walk-in shower. Two-minute stroll to the main pool. Close to supermarket, drug store, gas station, urgent care, and other services, but still quiet and private location. Choosing a condo from the Internet is always a gamble, but with this condo we felt that we won big time. We couldn't have asked for anything more. less

Great Condo in Great Location

We are repeat customers. The unit is well furnished and well maintained. The owner is very responsive and takes obvious pride in his investment. The view across the Keauhou harbor to the Sheraton is mesmerizing. The only real shortcoming for us is that there is no indoor dining table and the light was not working in the lanai light/fan assembly. less

— Dennis , Stayed 04/18/2017

Great Spot

Just finished my 4th stay at this unit. Its delightful! Its been thoroughly remodeled with quartz counter tops, state of the art appliances, and appointed with furnishings made of exotic tropical woods, like mahogany, teak and koa. Even when the Kanaloa complex is full, the condo is quiet and relaxing. The unit comes equipped with every sort of utensil and pots/pans, any chef would ever want. The cabinets and refrigerator are well stocked with all sorts of condiments and spices. The complex has a water front pool and a heated jacuzzi just a few steps from the condo. With the windows/sliders open front and back, there is a continuous gentle cross breeze in the unit. The owner is gracious and very committed to seeing that his guests have a pleasant stay. The only qualification is that it is a second floor unit with no elevator, so someone with mobility issues would probably need some help navigating the stairs. less

12 Days In Paradiseโคโคโค

We stayed in Unit 3504 at Kanaloa at Kona for 12 days. When we first walked into the unit we both very impressed. The condo, the location and the view we're exactly what we were looking for. The condo was very clean, well equipped with condiments and had all the amenities we required. We loved the ocean pool because of the view where we watched the sunset but we spent time at the adult pool. The entire complex was very clean and well maintained. The tour rep for Wyndham, Kelli, was very helpful in helping us arrange our various tours of the island, we enjoyed them all. Perfect Base for Kona Coast Explorations

The stay at KAK afforded us a luxurious pause in our non-stop tour of 4 islands: a great place to cook, read, catch up on email and just watch birds or watch surf. The view from that unit is mesmerizing. But it was also the perfect spot from which to snorkel at Kahaluโ€™u, walking every day the mile to and fro, and surviving the warnings and currents. As fish, we are learning that Hawaii in December and January are not good bets for safe swimming. And, as luck would have it, the โ€œsurgesโ€ were up. We survived, but we are experienced and cautious swimmers. I believe this was an unusually cold and windy "winter". That made hanging out in this unit even more pleasurable. It is a beautifully decorated space and the light and breeze filter gently in everywhere. You could spend your entire time all settled in and sipping coffee on the teak porch table watching the view of the incredibly active cove's waves and surfers, birds, and boats. The owner/host was most immediately responsive to questions about where to snorkel, get groceries and even where he bought his great murphy bed system! There were a few issues that I am sure the owner has already taken care of. Normal wear and tear that you would have in any home. They probably were not reported by previous renters. This space is good value for the money. less

Great condo, great location

We really enjoyed our week in this well-equipped condo. The view from the lanai is lovely and the grounds, pools, etc. are all in excellent shape. Check-in was super easy and communications with both the owner and management couldn't have been better. We also really appreciated the little extras that were available with this condo, especially in the kitchen (condiments, cooking oil, lots of utensils, spices, etc., etc.) This really makes a difference for those who like to stay in and cook a nice meal. less

Kanaloa @Kona Condo 3504

Condo was immaculate, beautifully and comfortably furnished. Well supplied with essentials, Salt & Pepper for instance as well as other basics which made life easier for 6 day stay. Convenient and less shopping . Lanai view was a great pleasure where I was able to watch surf, Boats coming and leaving harbor and early morning surfers ! Proximity to pools appreciated. Felt a little lonely without Aloha Condominiums on site tho Owner was most helpful prior to trip. Great spot and would hope to return to 3504 ! Aloha ! less

Perfect place!

My boyfriend and I went to Kona for the Ironman race. We loved this condo for our 10 day stay in Kona. Very convenient location with easy access to the beach; having the AC option was the best since it was very hot there. The owner was wonderful when I spoke with him. He gave us easy instruction including directions from the airport. I highly recommend this unit for your stay in Kona. less

Superb spacious condo, wonderful lanai with Ocean view

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Kanaloa resort and especially loved using the beautifully appointed lanai; it was great to have our meals with a view of the ocean (especially breakfast). The condo is extremely well located (grocery store and activities). We had a blast on Big Island: we swam with Manta Rays (Mauna Kea Beach), kayak with dolphins and visited the active volcano. Among the 4 islands we visited over the course of our 3 week vacations, Big Island won our hearts. less

Perfect Spot

My recent stay at this condo was my third visit to this unit in the last year and I'm looking forward to another one this coming February. The condo has been extensively refurbished. Quartz counters, tile floors throughout, exotic tropical wood furnishings, top of the line appliances. There are two bathrooms and the rooms are spacious, so two couples or a family of three or four would be quite comfortable in the unit. The Kanaloa complex is spacious and meticulously maintained. The owner is gracious and committed to making sure his guests are cared for. It is a second floor unit with no elevator, so the only qualification is that someone with mobility issues would need help on the stairs. less

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay!

We stayed in this unit for a 10 day visit in June and it worked out perfectly for us. We have stayed at 2 other ocean view units at Kanaloa in the past but this one had the best view and accommodations by far. I loved the unobstructed view from the lanai of both the cove and the ocean. The kitchen is beautiful and had everything we needed and more to make our meals although I must say I kept meal making to a minimum. ๐Ÿ˜Š The fold out bed worked great too and it was very easy to push it into the wall after the kids woke up which left a great deal of space (even with the bed down there was plenty of space). My son and daughter along with their respective families were staying in different units at the same complex and I know that I had the best unit of the 3. My grandkids would wake up early every morning anxiously waiting to jump in the pool and with 3 of them at the complex we never had to worry about crowds, there was never more than 3 or 4 other people at any given time. The kids enjoyed going from pool to pool and if they had there choice they would still be there swimming! The complex is located in a really good location, close to shopping, restaurants, beach access and just a short drive to Kona. I cannot say enough great things about this unit, if you want fantastic views and excellent accommodations this is the place!!! less

An Ideal Unit

I liked my first stay at this unit several months ago so much, that I recently returned for a second visit. The unit is exceptionally well appointed, absolutely pristine. The rooms are spacious. Furnishings throughout are made of fine tropical woods, i.e. mahogany, koa, teak, etc. The unit has obviously gone through a recent major upgrade/refurbishment as the kitchen counters are quartz. The kitchen cabinets are stocked with condiments/spices/cooking supplies, etc. Every conceivable cooking utensil a chef could ever want can be found in one of the drawers. The appliances are new state of the art technology. There's a new sound system and flat panel TV's in both rooms. Internet access is flawless. The complex is spacious, so that even when its fairly full, you still get a sense of privacy. There are two pools on the property. The Ocean Pool and Terrace went through a complete restoration recently. The owner is gracious and genuinely concerned for the welfare of his tenants. The only qualification is that #3504 is a second floor unit with no elevator, so someone with a mobility issue might have a problem getting up and down the stairs. less

April to May Visit 2016

We had a great 3 week stay at Kanaloa at Kona Unit #3504. The condo is comfortable, reasonably updated and the view & location can't be beat. The value is also very good for the price point. Our only complaint would be that we wished there were more comfortable chairs on the lanai. Being from landlocked Alberta we like to spend a lot of time sitting relaxing and enjoying the water and the view and found the teak very hard to sit on even with cushions. We love Kona and all that the Big Island has to offer and we took advantage of every opportunity to explore the Island, go on a lot of boat trips right out of the bay, which is only a 5 minute walk from the condo, and found many treasures. We would definitely recommend Kanaloa at Kona unit 3504 and would consider staying here again on our next visit to the Big Island. less

Our stay

Everything was ever so enjoyable. The unit was spotless when we arrived and fully furnished. Love the condo decor, the view from the deck and the Kanaloa facility with all it's wonderful amenities. The location is terrific, close to all tour guides, beaches, shopping and the movies. If I had to complain at all, it would be you need a new couple of frying pans and a much softer mattress both on the Murphy bed and master bedroom. Other than that, absolutely I shall return! This was my second visit so the next will be my third! See you in 2 years when I return. Mahalo. less

Heaven on Earth

My sister and I stayed at this beautiful property for 9 nights during March 2015. Before I discuss what I loved about it, I want to first say that the owner, Lowell, was a dream to book with. From my initial enquiry through to answering a couple of queries whilst away, he always responded promptly, was helpful and courteous and went out of his way to make sure that everything was perfect. I just knew from the outset that we were going to have a wonderful holiday and indeed we did. The condo was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was clean, modem and well taken care of. The location really suited us but a car is needed as the trolley service is infrequent and is really the only public transport option to get you into town. That said, the local shopping centre was close enough to walk to and there were plenty of places to eat and socialise there. We used the resort office to book a taxi and car hire and they were really helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The onsite restaurant is closed which I did miss but I understand that most guests take advantage of the full cooking facilities in their condos so it isn't a cost efficient service to run. All the photos are true to life and if I dare say, the views from the lanai are even more impressive in real life. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting out of an evening and listening to the ocean. Our first trip to Hawaii was every part as magical as we had hoped and I know that a huge part of that was having the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful home away from home. Thank you Lowell for everything. We cannot recommend this condo highly enough if you are looking for a little piece of heaven on earth. less

A Perfect Spot

Looking to escape the winter in Massachusetts for a few weeks to work on a writing project, I landed at Kanaloa #3504 in mid-February. It is a second floor unit with one of its two lanais overlooking the ocean. On arrival I found the unit in absolutely pristine condition. It obviously has gone through a complete renovation with tile floors throughout, new quartz kitchen countertops and new state of the art appliances. It is furnished throughout with fine tropical woods (mahogany, koa and teak) for which I have a special fondness. I found the cabinets and refrigerator well stocked with all the condiments, spices, oils, etc you would need to cook a fine meal with. Every conceivable kitchen cooking utensil can be found in any of the drawers. There was a gentle breeze blowing 24 hours/day, so I had no need to use the A/C or even the ceiling fans for that matter. Internet access was perfect. There are two pools on the premises. The Ocean Pool went through a complete renovation recently. The complex is spacious and even though it was close to full while I was there, I still felt a sense of privacy that I've not felt at the other condo complexes I've stayed in around Kona. The only qualification would be limited to someone who needs help going up and down stairs. It is a second floor unit and there is no elevator. I also found the owner to be gracious and concerned for his guest. I make three trips a year to Hawaii and as long as it is available, it will be my first choice. less

Awesome Stay at Kanaloa 3504

Great vacation in December 2015 at Kanaloa 3504 for my husband and I. We found it perfect --and we have rented many times in Hawaii on VRBO over the last 20 years. View and location were excellent. Unit is remodeled with updated appliances. Unit is well stocked with everything and anything you could want--dish detergent, laundry detergent, condiments, lots of cooking utensils and plates, bowls, cups ect. These little touches make a big difference for us. Three pools a short walk away and many restaurants close by. Lowell was wonderful to work with. Will return! less

Even if you are picky, you will be happy with every inch of this condo!

We had a family reunion at the Kanaloa at Kona. I am grateful that we rented unit 3504. Many family members rented units in the same complex. 3504 was our favorite. Here are a few reasons why: 1. Cleanliness-the condo was very clean. We felt comfortable right away and relieved that this was going to be a vacation to enjoy. 2. Layout-it's a one bedroom with a full size murphy bed. There are 2 bathrooms. It was great having a family of 4 not sharing one bathroom. 3. It's re-modeled. We had the chance to see a lot of units. This one was remodeled very well. There are flat screens in the master bedroom and living area. The kitchen is open and there is a table for 4-6 on the lanai. 4. The murphy bed-this is much better than a pull out couch. Our sons said it was as comfortable as their own beds. It was super easy to put up and take down. 5. Convenience-the location is great, steps to the ocean, although we chose not to swim in the ocean near the condos. We drove to a beach 5 minutes away and parking was not an issue. 6. More convenience-they have snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas. I also appreciated having the washer and dryer. Mainly we used it for washing towels, as we were in bathings suits most of the week. 7. Great owners to communicate with. The rental process was straight forward and easy. Any questions were answered immediately. We had a lockbox and instructions. It was great to just unlock the condo, rather than wait in line and do a formal check-in. Going to Hawaii is a big trip. Be sure to stay in a place you feel comfortable. I highly recommend unit #3504 and I will stay there again, the next time we are in Kona. Kona tips: -Favorite beach is Magic Beach (white sand beach area where you can swim with an occasional sea turtle, but don't touch them) -Favorite snorkeling is near the City of Refuge at Honaunau Bay. Clear water without waves. -If you take the day trip to see the volcano, stop at Punalu'u Bake shop -We found the cheapest car rentals were with Costco. You make your reservation online and pick up at the airport. Costco also gives you 2 drivers on the contract, without an extra charge. -Gassing up was cheaper at Costco. It is close to the airport and saved us around .30 per gallon. less

Good Value for the Price Point

We found alohacondos.com fairly and accurately represented the unitโ€™s features and benefits. The upgrades in the suite are nice, especially the opening up of the wall in the galley kitchen to be able to enter and leave it from both sidesโ€”nice touch, I donโ€™t know if any other of the one bedroom rentals have this feature, and it really helped open up the whole front end of the suite. Furniture, wall accents, and granite counter tops are very tastefully done, and the A/C never let us down! I hope as time goes on the upgrades donโ€™t stop as this unit has the potential to be the best in the complex. We absolutely loved the view from the lanai and spent many hours watching the two bays in front of us. The teak table is wonderful and the perfect size, and we did not miss having an eating table inside the unit at allโ€”we always ate on the lanai. Minor issues for us: While the teak chairs on the lanai look great, they are not the most comfortable for spending hours on the lanai enjoying the view, at least not for 50+ year old bones! We bought some extra cushions to put on top of the cushions already on the chairs thinking that would help, but it didn't. We also found the cutlery and silverware appear to be at the end of their life cycles and it sure would be nice to see those replaced for future guests. Bottom line is we will definitely be back. Lowell was EXCELLENT when dealing with some concerns we had at the very beginning of our stay, after that--everything went smooth and was one of the best of our Hawaii trips over the last 10 years. Thanks Lowell. Darren and Shelly less

A great condo in a great location

The Kanaloa complex is on the water a couple miles south of Kailua and is in a quiet residential area off the main street. We found the condo clean, updated, reasonably well stocked, well maintained, and with a very attentive owner. The view of the Keauhou harbor and Sheraton resort is exceptional. Minor shortcomings in our opinion include no inside dining table, low level of lighting in the main living room (only one floor lamp for reading), and uncomfortable wooden lanai chairs without cushions. Still, it's a very good choice, and we intend to return. less

Lovely condo, great location and great views

We stayed for a week, the condo was nicely decorated, clean and a gorgeous view rom the lanai. It was nice to have the washer and dryer, fully stocked kitchen and two full baths. Lowell, the owner was prompt in always getting back to us.

A quiet, relaxing and convenient condo near Keahou Bay

My wife and I attended our niece's wedding in Kona. We sought out a 1br condo near the ocean and convenient to local activities. #3504 fit our needs perfectly! Coffee on the lanai every morning listening to the crashing ocean waves and chirping birds. One night we hosted my mom & dad, brother & sister-in-law for a cookout with dinner on the lanai. Community gas grill just a few steps away, seating for six at the beautiful wood table, and a few Kona Big Wave's made for a memorable evening! (And beautiful weather with ocean sound effects!). Great communication with Lowell throughout. Mahalo G&K less

Awesome condo! Great View, very updated

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this condo. There were two couples in our group, so one had to use the murphy bed, but it was very comfortable, had plenty of storage was was easy to use. The condo is very updated and modern. There isn't a eating table inside and the bar has only three stools, but most of the time we were able to eat on the lanai, so wasn't too big of an issue. Location pretty much requires a car, but we needed one anyway, so no biggie. We would certainly rent this one again if we are in the area. We had a maintenance issue while we were there and it was handled quickly. less

Home away from home

I was in the condo by myself and my kids and their families were in two different units in this complex. This unit was my favorite of the 3 we occupied. I loved how bright it was in the unit. I thought it was very comfortable, liked the kitchen and the furnishings. The bed was comfortable and I loved the fan in the bedroom. The stereo was a great addition. And the mornings were enjoyed on the deck the view was lovely. The owners were great to work with! Thank you! less

Kanaloa 3504 was everything we expected from the photos, descriptions, and owner's comments. It's a quiet location with a spectacular view. The home has everything needed by the traveler. My delightful stay at Kanaloa condos

What a beautiful and well equipped condo. We loved everything about this condo...the wonderful view, all the furnishings such as artwork, furniture, the lovely granite counters, mattress on beds, location to shopping etc, and when we had a question about something, the owner was right there with return phone call to answer. No one should hesitate to stay there. It was a terrific two week stay for us and we will return for sure. less

Remarkable, relaxing and adventurous all at the same time!

The Big Island of Hawaii is known for adventure! Our stay in Kanaloa 3504 was home for 2 weeks and we enjoyed the view of the kayaks, big surf, outriggers, surfers, and people snorkeling. We tried out paddle boarding and snorkeling right in our own private ocean bay! We relaxed with morning coffee and breakfast on the lanai, taking in all of these views. Our condo is clean, up to date, and we took care of some routine maintenance so that our next guests will experience the perfect place. Best part is, Kanaloa is a beautiful quiet resort, with three nice pools, tennis, and convenient to so many great beaches and restaurants. The condo feels very spacious! We have compared our condo to many others and there is no doubt, ours is one of the nicest! less

Awesome!

My husband and I, plus our 2.5 year old daughter stayed at Kanaloa condo #3504 for 9 wonderful nights. I am originally from Kailua-Kona and my mother and sister live about 10 minutes away from the condo. Perfect location to family, amenties like grocery shopping, theater, beaches, and town. The condo pools were very close to the condo itself and was utilized everyday. Having aC was a necessity for my New York born husband which many condos in Kona do not provide. We have already given out the condo's owner contact info to 3 friends for their future visit. Enjoyed the condo immensely. We visit home every year and plan on booking the condo again next year. The booking process was efficient and simple, response time within 24 hours, pictures are accurate reflection of the residence, beds quite comfortable. We did purchase a $20 gate from Wal-mart for the top of the stairs, our only concern for our toddler. Thank you, Lowell and Chris. less

3 stars

After staying in 4 condos in the area, we found this one very nice. The location and view are perfect. The management was responsive to an extent. The condo had minimal amenities. Pots and pans need replaced. Utensils etc are bare minimum. No salt pepper or sugar, therefore any cooking would require detailed shopping. Only 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom for a weeks stay. No a/C in master bath. When I requested to share the cost of a $50 mattress pad, because we found the bed hard, I was ignored. I let the owner know i spent $25 on one, left it for him, with no response. We did get responses when the Internet went out and we let them know the coffee grinder was broken. Hes interested in replacing the grinder though. Paper towels and paper bags are being used to line shelves and drawers If you're looking for a clean 3 star condo with a great location this place is for you. I'm more happy in 4 star accommodations. less

Owner/Manager Response

I invested over $100,000 in a professional remodel of our condo in 2008. It is one of the nicest condos in the Kanaloa at Kona Resort. With that said I would appreciate it if you would read all the other guests comments on my site and determine for yourself if this guest is accurately portraying our beautiful condo. We continue to maintain our condo and furnishings. We purchased two new flat screen TVs in November. We had the furniture cleaned and floor tile professionally cleaned and resealed in May of this year. We take pride in providing a luxury vacation rental. Our condo does have a lot of supplies, but some rapidly consumed items like paper supplies may need to be purchased by guest if they run out, just like you would at home. We always try to stock salt, pepper and basic spices which were there in May when I visited the condo. I have asked my on island person to double check to make sure these items are not located in one of the Koa cabinets and if they are missing then she will restock. Not all Koa cabinet shelves are lined, but some are lined with shelf paper not paper bags. Regarding the mattress request I certainly did not ignore the guest request. I told the guest that in selecting a mattress for our rental condo we conducted research and found that a more firm mattress was the best choice. People with back problems want a firmer bed. With that said some individuals do prefer a softer mattress. Unfortunately there is no easy solution that will accommodate all individual guest preferences. Also I indicated that I did not have a way to manage the use of the additional mattress topper for future guests. How would my cleaning person know if they should make the bed with the mattress topper on or leave it off? Also I would need to have this item cleaned and also stored if a future guest did not use the mattress topper. So I told the guest that I did not have a problem with her buying a mattress topper for her personal use, but I really don't see using it in the future. I concluded my email with the following โ€œplease call me to discuss if you feel I am not handling your request professionally or if you think I am being unreasonable. The last thing that I want is to have this issue spoil your vacation at our condo.โ€ I never received a responding email on this topic. This guest also emailed me on two other occasions and mentioned that the internet was down and how to fix it. I took the time to send her a lengthy explanation as to how to troubleshoot the problem. She sent me a follow up email and said it just came back on. In other words there was no internet problem yet I tried to help her! She also said the coffee grinder did not work, but I had it checked out after her departure and it was working. In summary, does this sound like an owner who is not trying to work with a guest. If a guest is making a request I will always work with them and pay for items that can be used by other guests in the future. My wife and I go the extra mile for people. We appreciate you considering your stay with us. Mahalo Lowell and Kris.

Perfect Hawaii condo

We loved our stay at this beautifully appointed condo. It felt luxurious and was very well-equipped. We enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen and grilling outside. Very family friendly place. The main pool is right across from the condo--great but noisy during school vacations.

great location and wonderful amenities

The condo was beautifully updated with granite counters, and comfortable furniture. The view from the lanai was of the bay. Loved the sound of the ocean. Enjoyed the use of 3 pools and hottubs and the nearness to the grocery. Only criticism is the location of the bedroom which looks out to the condo driveway. The bed could have had a softer mattress cover. Only say that because I'm used to a softer bed. There was plenty room for our golf clubs etc. less

Lovely Condo

We loved our stay. The condo is situated so that the main Lanai overlooks a lovely bay area. We spent may hours watching surfers, the waves and the boats. The sounds of the ocean are wonderful. The condo kitchen was well stocked for creating your own Hawaiian cuisine which we did. The condo is clean and well kept. It is decorated in lovely tropical colours. Lowell the owner was available for any issues. We had a few things that decided not to work like the hair dryer, the phone, and the washer. The washer was fixed as soon as possible and Lowell said he would reimburse us for the laundromat fees, a new portable phone, and a new hair dryer and beach chairs. The complex is wonderful, with 3 pools, our favourite was the ocean side pool. We saw whales almost every time we were there. The days that the waves were high, you could watch surfers from the pool also. The complex is located south of Kailua-Kona, a drive to town takes about 10 minutes, the location is perfect if you want a quieter place but is located with easy access to a shopping centre and a great restaurant, Sam Choys. The bay adjacent to the complex has all sorts of water activities, you can go kayaking, surfing, snorkelling and go out during a night snorkel just offshore to see large manta rays feeding. They get so close they sometimes touch you. Breathtaking experience, Just a wonderful place and experience. less

Kanaloa Condo 3504 review-1/13- Had great time.

Overall- well furnished and equipped condo with a great view of bay and Kona Marriott Hotel. New carpet on stairs made for beautiful and easy access to this 2nd floor condo. Negatives- Lighting needs to be improved as there is really only one light in the sitting room. A small table in the main room would be nice for reading, games, and eating when the weather is not suitable on the deck. Proximity to road made leaving the windows open in bedroom a problem. In summary, it was a great stay. less

Owner/Manager Response

I just want to mention that sometime guests will add personal preferences in their reviews and are often not a concern to any other guests. I believe such is the case with the two items mentioned by this guest reviewer. There is a reading light in the great room placed next to a comfortable chair for the very purpose of reading a paper or book. There are many overhead lights that provide good lighting at night. There are also two small tables that sit in front of the couch that are multifunctional and can be moved around for various uses including placing game boards and playing cards. There are no major roads that run by the very private Kanaloa Resort. Yes, within the resort there are roads that run by the back of many of the condos as there needs to be a way to drive to the condos in the resort. There is limited traffic because the resort is gated and not available to general traffic. At night there is hardly any traffic and the resort is very quite. During the day if you left the sliding doors open to the back lanai and or bedroom windows you will likely hear some periodic slow moving motor vehicles in the resort, but this frankly has not been raised as an issue by most guests in the resort. For the most part people are out and about or on the ocean front lanai watching the beautiful Hawaii surf! Come be our guests in our beautifully remodeled luxury Kanaloa 3504 condo. Mahalo Lowell and Kris! Owners, Kanaloa 3504

Our stay at Kanaloa condo 3504 was very enjoyable

We truely enjoyed using the condo and the location was perfect. The longer we were there the more it started feeling like home away from home. The decor was nice and the place was clean. I would ask however that there be more privacy in the bedroom. The bamboo curtain didn't really afford much in privacy at night with the lights on. Also, there is a window pain missing in the one of the slatted windows which allows for lots of noice to filter in as if it were right in the room with you. Other than that the condo was very comfortable and a joy to use. Lowell was very accomadating as well. The view was wonderful too. Thank you! less

Loved the Condo and the location

We were overall very pleased with the condo and the location. We walked to Trade Winds for a couple of excursions, and the shopping center is very convenient. The sunset pool is very nice. The condo was not as clean as it could have been, but that wasn't a big deal. The bed in the master is past its prime, and my wife developed back issues by the end of our stay. I'd suggest a new mattress. All in all, we would come back and recommend to friends, but I really think you should invest in a new mattress. Aloha. less

Exception not the Rule: My cleaning person had to visit her mother in California for a week and she had her husband fill in for her. He thought that the second bath shower/tub had not been used since there were only two people staying in the condo. Our regular cleaning person is very thorough and has a cleaning checklist she follows each time she cleans the condo. Regarding the mattress I can only tell you that we purchased a very expensive mattress just 4 years ago. This is the first guest who commented on the mattress. I know โ€œone size does not always fit allโ€ so if this guest was having back problems I suppose a particular mattress could add to the problem. However, I donโ€™t think most condo owners can accommodate for the total spectrum of potential health related issues that guests have. I purchased a mattress firmness that is typical recommended for rental condos. My wife Kris and I visit yearly and are constantly monitoring what condition things are in and update and replace just as you would with your home. Mahola for your understanding of the challenges of accommodating all special health related issues. Lowell and Kris Zimmerman (Owners)

Great Location

This condo is at a great location right next to the water. The kitchen and living room are well furnished and the lanai is perfect to enjoy your meals. The pools nearby are very nice as well, especially the ocean view pool. The main issues are the bathrooms are a little stinky and the towels are old and dingy. Not sure if the smell is due to humidity or age of the bathroom as the smaller one appears to have been upgraded. Overall a great place to stay for a central location to most activities. less

Coincidently my wife Kris and I (owners) arrived the very same day this guest checked out and we stayed the following 5 days. First, we did not detect any unusual orders in either bathroom the entire time of our stay. Additionally no other guests ever mentioned this topic to us. We take great pride in our condo having invested over 100K in the remodel in 2008 and we continue to keep things up. Secondly, regarding the towels we replace the towels every few months. It is possible that some older back up towels were put out, but there are other towels available in the closets and there is also a high end front loading washer and dryer available to our guests. In a humid tropical climate towels do need to be washed more frequently and dried preferably with a softener to add a nice scent to the towels. No different than home - right! Almost Ocean Front

Very large 1-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo that was recently updated. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen contained most of the amenities we needed for our 10-day stay. The unit is set back from the water and sandwiched between two other units; it faces a bay rather than the ocean so you are unable to watch sunsets from the unit's lanai. So it could be labeled "waterfront" but we would choose a true oceanfront unit next time. There were specific instructions to take the trash out every day due to ants, but only one garbage bag was provided. Garbage bags for each day of the stay should be provided so the guest does not have to buy a box of bags. Also, the washer/dryer needs he detergent--it would be nice if a few loads of detergent were included as we did not know to get he detergent. The unit had central aC which kept our place comfortable. For the same price, the other members of our party had true oceanfront units with more privacy. We would want to either pay less for this unit or pay the same and get true oceanfront! less

Owner/Manager Response

Please note that the guest commented on how comfortable Kanaloa 3504 was and that it was a newly remodeled condo with AC. A previous guest called Kanaloa 3504 โ€œA Designers Dreamโ€. Regarding the outstanding waterfront views from Kanaloa 3504 I would ask you to read the comments of other guests. Most guests rave about the fantastic white water views and the sounds of the ocean. There are no buildings between the water and Kanaloa 3504. Regarding sunsets, the sun sets somewhat differently in the west based on the time of year, but it sets in the west. Is it reasonable to expect to view a sunset from every condo Lanai even though it faces north, south or east? One of the best viewing areas for sunsets at Kanaloa is the ocean pool area. Please keep in mind that sunsets in Hawaii occur very quickly and there is not a lot of time to watch before the sun drops beyond the horizon. As far as providing garbage bags and high efficiency laundry detergent we normally do keep these items stocked. Our Kanaloa guests only need to place a phone call to me to resolve any minor items such as this. If you read other guest comments you will see that my wife Kris and I certainly try to provide a high level of guest service. Having invested over $100,000 in the remodel hopefully tells you we care about offering our guests a truly luxury condo experience. Mahalo Lowell, owner Kanaloa 3504

Designers' Dream

We stayed at Kanaloa 3504 in beautiful Kailua-Kona. This is a beautifully renovated, very large one bedroom condo overlooking a lovely little bay. We only ended up using the air conditioning the evening of our arrival because after that it was just lovely to have the ocean breeze cooling the unit. Everything about this condo spells comfort - comfortable beds, furniture, bathing facilities, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor furniture on the lanai - everything. We even had access to beach chairs and boogie board to use whilst visiting the many, varied beaches on the Big Island. The location is so convenient to both the town of Kailua, and is right on Keauhou bay where you can rent paddleboards and kayaks. It's also a 10 minute walk up the hill to the Keahou shopping centre which has some great restaurants and a grocery store as well as a local, organic farmers' market on Saturdays. It's also a 5 minute drive to Kahaluu beach which has (in my opinion) some of the best snorkeling in the world, and where the sea turtles come right up onto the rocks to bask in the sun. Wonderful vacation! Wonderful fun! Wonderful Kanaloa 3504! less

Great condo and property

Aloha Lowell & Family, Thank you for the use of you condo at Kanaloa. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much, we did a lot of relaxing on this holiday. It was nice to be laid back and your condo is very comfortable to spend time in, the whole resort is beautiful. In our opinion you have one of the best views/locations in the resort! We find this location very convenient for traveling around the Kona area. Mahalo, Lynette less

— Lynette, Stayed 02/16/2011

comfortable

The condo is in an ideal location (both within the condo complex and the greater Kona area), comfortable, and well-outfitted. We had a great stay - it was a great for heading everywhere we wanted to go - to Kona markets, to Volcanoes, and to the south bays of Kealakekua, Honaunau, and Hookena. Loved the oceanside pool and sunsets, and the sound of the waves off the lanai. Would definitely stay here again. less

Kanaloa

Hawaii at its best- 1. Terrific oceanfront location 2. Gorgeous tropical landscaped grounds which are surrounded by the ocean and magnificant Kona Country golf course 3. Spacious like new first class condo unit with two wonderful lanais 4. Very peaceful location, away from the crowds in central Kailua Kona. less

Perfect

This lovely condo is located just close enough to Kailua-Kona to be convenient and far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Beautifully furnished, great ocean and bay view. Air conditioning helps a lot!

Paradise...

Exceptional condo with a beautiful view of the ocean. You can sit on the deck and watch the surfers and canoes. Good location and access to all of the Kona Coast. Minutes to the grocery store and a variety of restaurants and even a movie theater! Kona Country Club is minutes away for ocean and mountain courses. The condo has all the comforts of home and parking is very close to the front door. less

Complex not what we expected

Was not warned that the oceanside pool was closed for the summer. Was not expecting there to be 15 multi-generational people staying in the unit above us and the one pool left open for children to be crowded. The unit itself was clean, well cared for, lovely. The water view was not as good as I had anticipated. This was (to me) a very expensive place to stay with reduced/crowded amenities and lack of peace at times. We actually felt that we had to leave the complex to regain our sanity. Not what we were hoping for at the price tag. less

Owner/Manager Response

Note that our guest said that Kanaloa 3504 was very clean and well cared for, lovely. What more can you expect from an owner? Kanaloa has three pools and they have been resurfacing each pool area to make sure Kanaloa guests have the nicest resort facilities. Two of the pools have been resurfaced and the last pool to be worked on was the ocean pool. When one pool is resurfaced the other two pools are still available. Contrary to this guests comment there were still two pools open not one: one was for adults only and the other was open to all. How many Kona resorts have three pools? As you can tell from the other Flip Key guest comments they really liked the view and ocean sights and sounds from Kanaloa 3504. As far as having 15 people of multi-generations staying in the condo above I think I will let my reader determine the accuracy of this comment! Kanaloa has a policy against excessive over use of a unit and a guest needs to contact Kanaloa Resort Security available on the grounds 24 x7 and they will investigate any misuse of a condo. Please understand there are only 4 or 6 condos to a building so you rarely get the issues that a more densely built complex has. Guests are distributed over the resorts 13 acres so it is good as it can get. The key when staying at any luxury vacation accommodations is to alert Security sooner rather than later to remedy annoying situations. Kanaloa is staffed to make your vacation a truly great experience! In summary, people have different tolerances and expectations. We strive to make things as perfect as possible. Kanaloa 3504 is a magnificent luxury condo (as reported by past guests) having been recently remodeled at a cost of over $100,000. I hope you will consider a stay at Kanaloa 3504. Great Condo for a family!

We stayed at Kanaloa at Kona 3504 with our two young boys for a week in June. The Condo was very lovely. Furnished nicely and well-supplied. Our boys loved the murphy bed, and thought it was very cool to pull their bed out of the wall each night. The pool/ping pong table directly across from the condo was also a big hit! The condo is in a very good location to explore the entire Kona coast, and is only a minute or two away from the most popular snorkeling beach on the island. The owner, Lowell, was very easy to do business with, as well. Overall, a very nice (and affordable) condo rental in a beautiful place! Justin Shofler less

Kanaloa

Had a wonderful stay. Walking in I felt so at home I all most said out load IaM home. I most enjoyed the remodel to the unit, some at this property need a little upgrade (jet tubs out/walk in showers in). I have stayed at Kanaloa property many times and this unit by far is one of the best! Can not wait to see the remodel on the sea side pool! Mahalo and aloha less

Marvelous May Hideaway!

From beginning to end this is one of the nicest experience in renting a condo I have had. Every question was answered quickly, correctly and followed up by Lowell. The unit was lovely, well furnished, in beautiful, clean, comfortable condition and a delight to call home for a week. From the lanai we enjoyed the sound+view of the surf breaking on the rocks, and the paddlers practicing morning and evening. A perfect relaxing location (pool, BBQ, tennis court just a few steps away), open floor plan, ventilation options (silent ceiling fans or a/c) for temperature that suits you. We love the natural open Hawaiian breeze kissing our skin so we did appreciate this option. Just wish we could have stayed at least twice as long to fully enjoy everything...as dancers we were involved in a five day intense dance workshop so our play time was very limited. The location is great as you have super market, restuarants, drugstore, theater, post office, gas station a short distance away. Great place to snokel and beach also within a few miles. Highly recommend you enjoy the hospitality you will recieve from a visit at Konaloa at Kona. Thanks to Lowell it's all good! less

Wonderful Home in Paradise

We rented condo 3504 FROM the Big Island; we were lucky enough to extend our visit and found this condo online. The owner was fabulous, and so accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more in a condo: lanai for eating all of our meals to the sound of the ocean, comfy beds and equipped kitchen. We will stay here again! less

Good times with one fly in the ointment.

Well appointed, clean condo with a great lanai. My only concern was the upstairs three bedroom unit. Both times we have stayed, there has been a group of teenagers upstairs. The noise level did not go down until after complaining (after midnight).

Owner/Manager Response

As you can tell from this review the guest has only good things to say about the actual condition of and views at Kanaloa 3504. As far as noise bothering quests from another Kanaloa condo unit I can only tell you that Kanaloa has a policy against excessive noise and a guest needs to contact Security available on the grounds 24 x7 and they will put a stop to any problem. Please understand there are only 4 or 6 condos to a building so noise is rarely a problem. The key when staying at any luxury vacation accommodations is to alert Security sooner rather than later to remedy the situation. Kanaloa is staffed to make your vacation a truly great experience!

A piece of paradise

Everything was as promised - beautiful, clean, on the ocean, centrally located, and the open communication with the owner was outstanding. Loved everything, and would go again in a heartbeat! What we liked best - falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the coastline. What we liked least - leaving! less

Couldn't be better

I was a bit nervous at first to book an individual's condo rather than use a hotel or timeshare. But when I had questions before booking, the owner both e-mailed and called me to answer. Right away I felt more comfortable. And when we got there everything was seamless. It was in a wonderful, quiet area; great cross-ventilation; immaculate; and extremely comfortable. We spent nearly the entire time there on the front deck, with its lovely view. Being able to cook meals instead of going out to restaurants all the time was wonderful; and they had a kitchen with every gadget to one's content. The only thing missing was a grill. We loved the Big Island and when we go again there will be no hesitation in booking 3504 again. Mahala. less

Beautiful location but unit could use a little decor improvement

We stayed in Unit 3504 and found it very nice and well appointed. We know the owners had painted and added granite to the space but it could still use a little tweeking. The carpet on stairs should be replaced as quite worn and is separating at the top. Cushions for the outdoor furniture would make it more comfy to watch the gorgeous ocean waves and for entertaining. On the whole very well-equipped but could use a safe for valuables as well as new pillows and pillow protectors in the bedroom. The duvet and shams were tasteful as were the furnishings. The owners were excellent to deal with and very organized with communication, directions etc. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for your review. It is very important to be accurate when making comments about accommodations. As a reader of this comment you should know that my wife Kris and I invested over $100,000 in our 2007 remodel. It included: new tile floors inside and outside on both lanais, granite kitchen and bathroom counter tops, created walk-in shower in master bath, replaced all bathroom toilets and tube in second bathroom, added central air-condition, new ceiling fans, remodeled kitchen and added a build in desk area off kitchen, all new furniture (king size bed in bedroom) and appliances, new pictures and much more. Not just paint and granite The only carpet in the condo is on the stairs which we chose to do for safety purposes. As far as the carpet coming loose at the top of the stairs my cleaning person reported it on March 15 and on our annual visit beginning March 16, 2010 I had the carpet reattached at the very top of the step. The carpet was cleaned and although is 3 years old it still does not look very worn to justify replacement. Because it is a low mat carpet the renters may have viewed this as worn. Reality is that things do break in homes and as owners we always make repairs immediately upon notification. We do have a new cushion for the front lanai teak recliner which the guest did not mention. However, we do not have cushions on the individual teak chairs around the outside teak dining table. Due to the ocean salt. sun, and occasional rains and primarily sanitary purposes we have chosen to oil the teak wood rather than adding individual chair cushions. We do replace the bedroom pillows every two years so we will look at replacing them again and this is a fair comment and request for luxury accommodations such as Kanaloa 3504. Return trip even better than the first!

After our first stay at this condo in 2008, my husband and I were eager to return. From the elegant furnishings to the gorgeous view... everything met our (very high!) expectations. When we arrived, the place was spotless. And the owners are very responsive and accomodating. We visit Kona twice per year, and we hope this unit is available the next time we return. After several noisy and disappointing condo experiences on Ali'i Drive, we think there's no better condo complex than Kanaloa, and no better one-bedroom value than unit 3504. less

Gorgeous view

Beautiful location, beautiful view. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The Lanai was our favorite spot. All the furniture was in very good condition; all the amenities such as linens, towels, kitchenware, etc. were in good condition also. The place was really nice the only draw back you could hear your neighbor in the unit above you. They condo grounds with the tropical plants were beautiful and nicely kept, and the amenities of the complex with outdoor barbecues, 3 pools and a tennis court were wonderful. We had a really great time and plan to be back to see the turtles, sunsets and relax again, in this "home away from home". It's a very special place. less

Awesome!

What a great place. View of the ocean, big balconies, lots of space, washer dryer, great grounds with tennis, pools, etc. We never used the pools, but they looked great. Very quiet around the area. Saw a turtle in the bay outside the complex. Wonderful having the internet, it was a must. The place probably needs some new utensils for the kitchen. Other than that it is tip top shape. less

This is a well-located and quiet location. We enjoyed the views from the deck and the walks to appreciate the sunset. The place was immaculate, and we enjoyed the personal touches the owners have added. It was like being a guest in their home. Highly recommended. less

Very nice resort and unit

We stayed 6 days in Kanaloa at Kona. Very nice and huge suite. There were three of us and we just kept the murphy bed down the whole time and there was still lots of living room. The resort is well taken care of, the pools were great and we found the other guests very friendly. less

Beautifull and very well equiped home

We have stayed twice at 3504 for a month in 2007 and 2008 and have booked again this year for another month. Lowell and Kris have renovated this condo to the highest standard. It has been beautifully furnished and is very well maintained. The view from the Lanai of the ocean is magical. We would recommend this unit to anyone. Dorothy and Brian Vancouver Canada less

Great place to stay!

This was a really great rental for the end of our trip to the Big Island. We loved being able to do our laundry & also being able to cook instead of eating out all the time. The owners are great as well, they answered our questions quickly & I would definitely stay here again. less

Beautiful comfortable and clean with a great view

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the condo. The owners were very nice and accomadating. It was very nicely remodeled and clean. The view from living room was great! We ate breakfast at the little cafe by the ocean and the food was good. There is no beach by the resort but that was ok with us. The pools were nice and maintained. We would definetly stay there again. less

Golf Trip

Very Clean. Nice bay view. Concerns--1)too much noise from upstairs. 2) For the price, there could have been a little nicer amenities such as soap and toilet paper. Overall a good experience!

Owner/Manager Response

The owner - Lowell Zimmerman - does now provide soap and 2 rolls of toilet paper for each bathroom.
