Mermaids Cafe is a short 5 minute walk from Moana Kai Beach Houses located in the heart of downtown Kapaa. It's a small sidewalk cafe that specializes in a healthy island, pan Asian cuisine. They offer homemade entrees, wraps, sauces, salads and beverages prepared with local fruit and vegetables.
It's hip, fun and flavorful. Seating is limited to sidewalk cafe dining as well as bar style seating. There can be a long line during peak lunch and dinner hours. Call ahead and put in a to go order if you're super hungry, or it could take a while to get your food.
Mermaids is known for their Ahi Nori Wrap ($9.45) which consists of seared ahi wrapped in a 12” green tortilla with rice, cucumber, nori, wasabi cream sauce, pickled ginger and soy sauce. It's a local favorite. I recommend asking for extra ginger. It's even good with brocolli! I also love their Tropical Tacos ($9.45) consisting of two corn tortillas filled with ahi cooked in a special sauce, served with black beans, salsa fresca and organic lettuce. I have to say, these fish tacos are delicious. I've had many fish tacos on Kauai, but the sauce on these tacos in like nothing else I've tasted. Yum!

Honestly, Mermaids Cafe is one of our family's favorite haunts on Kaua'i and luckily for Moana Kai visitors, it's a hop, skip and a jump!
