Beautiful Sunset, Great Location, Watch Firework from Balcony
I originally booked a double queen bed room from Ilikai Hotel. After I found out this reasonable priced condo with living room, kitchen and view, I immediately booked this one and canceled the other. I was skeptical until the minute I stepped into the condo. Wow!!! What a beautiful sunset and ocean view! We couldn't believe our luck. We also enjoyed a magnificent firework show at the balcony right in front our eyes. Our applauding scream was echoed by the horns from boats and cars near and far at the end of the show. felt like celebrating New Year Eve. Btw, the firework show is from Hilton on every Friday night. One more tip, my husband found free parking space on the street. However, be very cautious. My brother couldn't find his car after he finished dinner at China Town. He paid his ransom, including taxi, fine and towing fee to get the car back. To make it short, My family had a wonderful time staying here. The suite is comfortable and of good size. I highly recommend this rental and will definitely come back again.

Top-notch place to stay in Waikiki
Ah, what a great condo! Wonderful view out over the Marina, just a short stroll to Hilton Hawaiian Village and beyond that the whole crazy strip, easy parking, quiet. My wife and I stayed here 4 nights and agreed it was the best place we've stayed in 4-5 trips to Oahu so far. The furnishings and decor are good quality and island-appropriate, with nice koa wood cabinetry in the kitchen. The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances and dishes, the bed was comfortable and king-sized, the bathroom was plenty adequate, etc. The building is an easy 10-minute walk to the Hawaii Convention Center, where I was attending a meeting. The only improvement I'd make is to put a more room-darkening shade over the bedroom window; the marina lights and the full moon made the room pretty bright and I found it hard to stay asleep until I tried an eye mask. Otherwise, no complaints!

Relaxing, convenient, & fun!
Spacious condo for our family of four. A big king size bed that fit us all at times in one bed (we out our baby in our portable crib and daughter sleeps with us, but sometimes the kids both end up being on the bed). The room is clean, appliances top of the line, and there are beach toys and floaties for us to use. Parking is $20 a day, compared to other places, this is a bargain!

Great accommodation, great views and immaculate presentaion
Our 6 nights at Ilikai Marina Condo 786 was all and more. The kitchen was well equipped with large oven, microwave and dish washer. A well appointed bathroom and lots of storage through out. Comfortable lounge room with the best view over the marina and a great viewing spot for the Friday fireworks. A very big thank you to alice.

Serenity
Quiet and above the streets noise. Very nice set up and many updates in unit. Nice neighbors. I will stay here again. Just perfect for a little hide away, peace and quiet with the life of the city just an elevator ride away. Grocery store and many eateries along with great shopping in the Hilton village all walking distance as is the historic illikai hotel. Walking distance to ala wai yacht harbor and sandy beaches. Beautiful view of the mountains. My little sanctuary. Thank you for sharing your lovely place. Or aloha, gale c

Had access issues, owner gave us the wrong code to get in, and owner also advised us that keys would be inside and there were no keys. Room smelled musty, and dampish, and the balcony was too small for two people to sit, which was disappointing. The location was good and the view was great and the kitchen was stocked well. Can walk to waikiki and the mall from here.

The Ilikai Marina is well-located with convenient parking, ABC mart for groceries close by, restaurants when one doesn't want to cook, walking paths along the marina, the park, and the lagoon. We had a rental car and, with the exception of the security checks for the apec conference, had no problem getting around in the city. The ala Moana shopping mall is near as is the Hilton Hawaiian Village and several other hotels and businesses. Our condo was great! It was very clean, had a wonderful king-sized bed, lovely furniture, immaculate wood floors, convenient kitchen with a granite countertop, and best of all a front row view of the harbor and ocean; watched the sunsets every evening. Service for parking, parcel deliveries, etc. was excellent. I recommend this residence to a single person or a couple wanting to visit Honolulu with flexibility. We decided to return here on our next visit. Highly satisfied customers.

Great view, great vacation, condo is dated

The Back Niners from Bellingham WA on 10/21/2011 said:
This condo is close to two nice beaches, great restaurants (reasonable breakfasts in building Harbor Pub) and is centrally located. The view is fantastic of the marina, ocean and sunsets. We could see a fair on the park point light up at night with the sun going down behind it. The one bedroom condo is well layed out but parts are dated (built in the 60's). The kitchen is fine with all the neccessary utensils. The livingroom couch is uncomfortable to sit on (never tried it as a pullout bed). Other chairs are fine. No golf channel on TV and took two days to figure out how to remove "Closed Captions". Living room needs a area rug as floor is hard and cold. Worst part of condo was the bathroom. It was dirty when we arrived and had to call cleaning service to clean tub/shower and give us some face cloths and a second hand towel. There was only 3 bath towels for our 6 day stay and no bath matt. The tub did not drain properly but found the plunger and it helped. There are no laundry facilities. The cost was reasonable until you added the $20/night parking (which we were told was $17/night)
Manager response:
We appreciate your feed back as we strive to provide excellent service.
We wish to provide some facts.
There is a laundromat in The Ilikai Marina on the 8th floor. It is coin opertated so need to bring quarters and soap.
The futon sofa is brand new and it came from a high end furniture store in Honolulu. It turns into a Queen size bed.
The wood flooring is also brand new. Carpeting and rugs are a second choice in vacation rentals because hard flooring is much more sanitary.
992 has received continuous upgrades and replacements.
All units are cleaned by a professional housekeeping company after every check out. Two complete sets of towels( bath, hand, wash cloth and beach towels) are standard set up per Guest. A local contact phone number is provided for our Guests and we respond immediately to any Guest concerns.

We stayed one week at condo #992. Owner was helpful in getting the payments completed prior to arrival. Great king bed, kitchen, and amenities. Fantastic view of marina and ala Moana surf spot. The coffee pot quit on second day. But after calling the manager we had a new one within a day. Downside is the funky carpeting in the hallway. But that's probably a building ownership issue. Also the keyless entry was different. But once we got it we liked it. Also missed having a mini clothes washer and dryer in room. But the complex has several pay washers and dryers on the 8th floor.

It was a perfect location for us and well set up with the basics for our holiday. It was easy to get provisions from the ala Moana centre which was only about 10 minutes walk away. The bus system around this island also allowed us to explore nearby and the whole island for about 6 dollars each a day if you buy the 4 day bus pass. The biggest problem is that the unit smelt really bad and the only way we could put up with it was leaving the windows and sliding lanai door open all the time we were in the unit. Also the wirelss internet was so inconsistent that it became a real problem to stay online for any period of time. If these two problems were fixed it would have been perfect for us!!!

Very distasteful odours in the hallway from their condo when cooking. This however was rectified after we mentioned to Kat. The condo was very clean however the condo was "tired" and needs to be renovated. The lanai was too small for our liking. We did like the bedroom seperate from the living room. Our concerns were dealt with when we called. Overall a nice stay at the condo.

Nice unit, great view. The plastic liner on the pull out bed was low quality, even our 4-yo daughter complained about it. The carpeting is pretty worn. It would have been nice to have housekeeping come in after the 7th day to do the towels/sheets. This was done for another unit we stayed in the previous year. We stayed a total of 13 days. The shower was a little dingy. This end of the building is subject to street noise from people outside of the restaurant below.
Manager response:
We appreciate the feedback. The carpeting is always washed on a normal basis and should not be a problem. We have not heard any complaints about the plastic liner on the pull out bed but will look into it. Interim cleanings are schedule at the guest's convenience. Just give us a call and we will let cleaning know to come in. I'm sorry the street noise was too much for you to bear but usually the noise isn't bad at all and does not cause a disturbance. Thanks again for the feedback!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this condo at the Ilikai Marina. First off, the view was fantastic, right alongside the Ilikai Marina with the clear blue waters of Waikiki to the left. After a long day of trekking around Oahu, sitting out on the private patio overlooking the marina was a great end to a day. The condo is centrally located at convenient distances from both the Ala Moana center and Waikiki, but still very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. The condo itself is very clean and well-kept with spacious and bright rooms. The wireless internet was very convenient for scouting out the day's activities. I didn't have a chance to take advantage of the surprisingly large kitchen, but it was a great plus to the condo's amenities. All in all, an amazing find and I would definitely would return a second time and recommend to friends.

The kitchen is a nice one if you have to cook. Only thing is that that parking fees are quite high. You can consider street parking, abundant close by. Finally, the check-in procedure, or the lack thereof, is nice and smooth on first and last day - saves a lot of time.

Making the reservation is a snap. We can honestly say that everything is provided for a perfect stay. The tropical Koa wood cabinets and furniture and the stainless steel appliance and granite counter tops are very pleasing to the eye. The jetted bathtub is very soothing after a long day of walking! The bed is very comfortable. All we need to do is bring food and drink and enjoy the wonderful condo and the great view. We were treated to perfect weather for our last 8 night stay, and even early morning rainbows. On Friday nights we really enjoyed the Hilton's fireworks

This condo is very convenient to the convention center and ala Moana Shopping Center and a comfortable walk to Waikiki along the beachfront. We could not find any good restaurants in the area, however, just chains or over-priced beachfront dives. The condos furnishings are OK in the bedroom, however, the living room sofa is broken-down and uncomfortable to sit on for TV watching. There are very limited kitchen utensils. Probably the biggest negative is lack of adequate lighting in the entire condo. We could not read in bed because the lighting is so poor. We had to turn on every light in the kitchen, living room, and dining room to have more than a dim view in the condo at night. Finally, we have never stayed in a condo where the owner did not provide a single bar of soap. The first morning, I had to walk to the aBC on the corner to buy a bar of soap for our morning showers! We were generally disappointed in this condo.
Manager response:
Deb, it sounds like you werent very happy and were sorry you couldnt find a good restaurant in the Waikiki area. Our guests are provided with bar soap and liquid hand soap with extra supplies in the cabinet under the lavatory. Your instructions included local contact information, and you were invited to give us a call if you experienced any difficulty during your visit. I regret you didnt give us that opportunity as we would have been happy to respond to your requests and improve the quality of your stay.

My mother rented this condo for us for our honeymoon and as we had never stayed in a condo before or even been to Hawaii we didn't know what to expect. When we walked in the room it was late at night and the room looked wonderful when we opened the door and the welcome basket was very unexpected but a lovely touch. I have to say the room is very tastefully decorated and has every amenity you could ever want including a jetted tub which my wife made immediate use of. The furniture is of the highest quality and the bed was extremely confortable. When we opened the curtains the next morning the view took our breath away and just added the cherry on top of the cake. It was a treat to sit and watch the boats come and go in the marina and to watch the numerous dragon boats come and go as they practiced out in the ocean. We were thrilled with this condo and would definitely rent it again and recommend it to everyone we meet. It made our honeymoon complete and thank you Chuck for letting us enjoy it.

Loved the location of condo. Upgrades in condo were nice. Bad things: airconditioner works so poorly as to make condo almost unbearable in the evening hours, especially since the roll up blind for the sliding glass doors is totally broken- the blind has torn off from the roller part of the blind. The sun heats up the apt alot and makes evening sleep rather difficult.
Manager response:
I apologize for the blinds and they have been repaired. As I mentioned to you in our last correspondence, the windows have a lock-out system to prevent the AC from cooling if not tightly closed. At any rate we are having the AC checked to be sure it is functioning properly. We provide all of our guests with a local contact phone number to call for assistance during their visit. Glad you liked the location and upgrades and I hope you will return.

6 stars! Over the years I have stayed in most of the hotels and lots of condos in Waikiki and Chuck provides the best. I arrived a day early and Natalie buffed the room out on her Sunday afternoon for me. This property is a 5 minute walk from major shopping and the heart of Waikiki beach and night life but out of the traffic and noise. The photos on the website seem too good to be true but believe it! Price compare it to hotels with "mountain view" and this is ocean front. You can't get any closer. Full kitchen, great towels, full a/V in bedroom and common area with free hot spot and very nicely furnished. Lots of extras in the closet for kids and adults at the beach. Parking isn't cheap ($17/day) but there were always spaces and it is half of the going rate at hotels. $8 airport shuttle from the Ilikai concierge. If I owned this condo, I wouldn't change a thing. I will ask for 1294 every time I come to Oahu. Mahalo

It was however on top of one of The Chart House, a great spot for eating, drinking and watching the sun set.

The ala Moana Mall was within walking distance; we stopped there to pick up another pair of shorts and had dinner at the food court - inexpensive but good food. We opted not to rent a car on Oahu, and took the bus everywhere we wanted to go. The bus stop was right at the corner across from the aBC Store. It may have taken a bit longer to get places, but was interesting and a lot less expensive. We only had 3 days, but went to the USS arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri Memorial at Pearl Harbor, went to Diamond Head, and went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, and spent time on Wakiki beach. We had a wonderful 8 day stay at the Illikai marina. The location was perfect for a family with young children. The condo was clean and very nicely decorated. We stay in alot of vacation condos and location alone will keep us coming back to the illikai marina. Unfortunately there are some caveats. 1. Even though we asked the aloha condos staff about the deck railings looking like they ended awfully far from the building, they assured us the spacing was no more then the railing spacing.. that was incorrect. *IF* you had the condo slider open all the way blocking off 2 inches, that was true. If you closed the slider part way then the spacing was 8 inches! Not only that, but there is a small ledge, so I would never recommend leaving the slider open with children under 8-10. I cant comprehend how it could have ever met building codes. Now, saying that, we would still stay there again because we love the location and the a/c works great. :) But we would have brought a travel gate so that we could feel safe opening the sliding door. 2. The kitchen didnt have a stitch of tupperware -none of the perks that you usually find in a rental... sugar, or left over foil that the last folks left bring those from home. 3. Towels!! We (3) were provided with 1 bath towel and 1 beach towel for an 8 day stay. I dont know about you, but I dont use the same towel every day for over a week.. especially when vacationing in a beach location that is very warm. We had to wash the towels, which was a first at any rental we have ever stayed in. The washer and dryers at the illikai ate $5 in quarters. There is no change machine. ABC store will only give 3.00 in quarters with purchase. It was a big pain. Dont use the stacked w/d & bring plenty of quarters. It cost 2.25 each load to wash and an addtl 2.25 to dry. The washer only fit 6 of the large towels and a few hand towels. Again, we would stay there again and feel it was a value, but wish we would have known the above.

We loved our stay at 1294 at the Illikai Condo. It was clean, tidy and very quiet. It had a kitchen which was fully equipped if you wanted to stay in and cook. Otherwise there was a Red Lobster down stairs, pub and other places within walking distance. Great location which was a 10 min walk to Waikiki beach so you weren't in the hussle and bussle. It also was 10min walk to Ala Mona shopping centre which had fantastic stores. There was cheap parking for $6US for 12hrs which is great if you had a car for a few days. We parked at the condo's which was $17US per day and worked out better for us as we didn't have to keep moving the car after 12hrs. The only downside is that there was construction work happening at the Ilikai Hotel across the road so could be a bit noisy in the day, however if your in Hawaii you wouldn't really be staying in your room! Would definately stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.

My family and I stayed in unit 1294 for 9 days on a recent trip to O'ahu. The condo was perfect for us! My husband was attending a conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village just two hotels down from us- less than a 10 minute walk. From the Ilikai Marina I could walk with our 14 month old to the beach, to the lagoon, to the Ala Moana Mall (where there's also a full grocery store), or take a longer walk down into the "heart" of Waikiki. It was also a convenient starting point for driving to other parts of the island, like the North Shore and to Hanauma Bay. The condo itself had everything we needed and we loved having a full kitchen. The view from the condo is fantastic and on our last morning we were treated to a gorgeous full rainbow just outside. The bed was comfy, the air conditioning worked great, it was easy to park and easy to make all the arrangements with Chuck, the property manager. We rented baby equipment like a high chair and pack-n-play from a local company called www.babytravelmadeeasy.com. They provided a great service. The only drawback to the condo is there is no dishwasher. Since we did a lot of cooking ourselves, this was one convenience that would have been nice to have. Also one of the standing lamps in the living room had a burnt out bulb and the toilet tank seemed to have a leak so the water would run more than it needed to. We used the washer and dryer in the building twice during our stay and that was really nice to have nearby. We would definitely stay here again!

The condo was picked up and sort of clean. There were food scraps in the kitchen sink, the refrigerator was not wiped down, the kitchen had been swept, but the dustpan was not used to complete the task, the windows toward the extraordinary view were not clean, the glass top tables and furniture were dusty, there were visible dust clusters under the bed, and there was an empty candy wrapper on the bed. I called the owner within minutes to let him know the condition. I also called the individual in charge of cleaning. She did come a few hours later, and cleaned the sink and floor. I paid a $120.00 cleaning fee, and asked that the fee be reduced or waived. The owner did not call back either that evening or during the following 3 days.

THIS WAS THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES. WE WERE CELEBRATING OUR 10TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A BETTER ISLAND OR CONDO TO STAY AT. IT WAS CLEAN EVERYTHING WAS ON HAND THAT WAS NEEDED. SCENERY WAS SO BEAUTIFUL WE COULDN'T STOP LOOKING AT IT. WAIKIKI BEACH WAS IN WALKING DISTANCE AND CAN BE SEEN FROM THE CONDO. YOU WERE SO ACCOMODATING TO US AND IT WAS APPRECIATED. WE WERE THINKING WE WOULD LIKE TO STAY THERE AGAIN SOMETIME. WE ARE PLANNING ANOTHER TRIP NEXT YEAR WE MAY GO TO MAUI BUT IF WE COME TO OAHU WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT YOU. (There was one thing that I was thinking would be nice. If you were able to put up a long mirror on the back of a door so we could get a good view of ourselves, maybe that is vain but I would have liked to see myself in full view) THANK YOU FOR THE MOST WONDERFUL VACATION OF OUR LIVES. When my family and I arrived at the Ilikai Marina, we were surprised at how close it was to so many sites. We were within walking distance of Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana Mall and Park. We had a great view of the marina and a beautiful sunset every night. The room had enough room for the four of us and amenities like a kitchenette stocked with dishes and appliances, a bathtub with a jacuzzi, two TV's with cable, and a sofa bed for the kids. It was a great central location to all the places we wanted to see. We had a blast. The only thing I could not figure out was how to turn on the showerhead, but the jacuzzi made up for that. After a long day of sightseeing, the warm jets of water soothed my sore muscles and helped me relax on my vacation.

We needed a place close to a relative's apartment with easy access and near-by parking. The location was exactly what we were looking for and parking couldn't have been easier. We could walk out the door of the apartment, take the elevator, and be in the parking garage in less than five minutes. The view of the marina was delightful. The apartment was well furnished, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen seemed stocked with all the plates, cups, glasses, and flatware anyone would need. It met our needs exactly.

Pros: - Absolute Ocean Front (not just 'ocean view') - Convenient Location - Updated Interior Cons: - Would be really nice to have a kettle. - No full-length mirror. - No shampoo/Linse/body wash (some condos supply these amenities) - There was no welcome gifts/snacks (that was in the condo the last time we rented). - Dish-washing sponge was too dirty and old to be useful ( I would use that sponge to do my dishes at home) - There was only a little bath cleaner. - There was no medium-size towel that was there the last time. - No dish washer. - Could have used another set of bed sheets.

Condo was not cleaned from previous occupant and had to call for service. Also, garage charged for 4, 24hr. periods when we checked in after 11am on the 1st and had to be out by 11am on the 4th. The sign posted at the gate clearly states per 24hr period. Would also have liked a lanai large enough to enjoy sitting on and a pool! Location was great and condo itself was otherwise comfortable, MUCH better than unit 394 which rents for same rate. Also liked the convenient check-in procedures.

The kitchen has a good set of cooking utensils and you can save money cooking yourself. We have a very good time with our then-4-year-old son there. Would like to go back there sometime soon :)

We stayed here for our 19 day trip. It was great to have an apt. rather than a hotel. Location is great. Right near ala Moana Mall, the Hilton Hawaiian Village, ABC on the corner (of course). If you are here for two weeks + with a car, check into the part-monthly rate at the ProPark lot in the building. Very reasonable and the elevators go right from the lot to the floor. This unit had everything we needed for this family vacation. Kitchen is well stocked if you plan on cooking most of your meals like we did. Even has a rice cooker. Stop at Costco on your way from the airport or Walmart is only a mile away. There is a beach cooler and some ice packs so you can tote some drinks and /or lunch to the beach with you or on your day trips. At the time of our stay, the unit had a lot of beach toys, grass mat, 2 beach chairs to help out. We left some more grass mats and 5 boogie boards and an extra cooler to assist the next group. Beach towels are also provided in the unit. Both beds are comfortable. There is TV service, WiFi and an iPod dock/speaker system. Enjoy the Hilton fireworks right from your lanai with a Mai Tai. We got to do that three times. We would stay here again without hesitation. Shared lot of tourism tips in the guest book. We learned a lot from what others shared there so wanted to do the same. Thanks!

I've been to Oahu many times and have stayed in hotels in Waikiki. Most of the hotels are nice, but the rooms lack any space. Since I have used aloha Condos for my stays on the Big Island, this time I stayed in one of their condos on Oahu. The Ilikai marina was built in 1968, but the building itself is kept fresh, though they could use new carpet in the hallway leading to the rooms. Room 1188 seems to have been updated recently and was a very nice place to stay. I did not use the kitchen to cook, but the appliances were also undated. It was so much more relaxing to be in this condo, as opposed to a hotel. There is at least 3 times the room as a regular hotel. I would probably have to pay 3 times as much for a hotel room with just as much space and ocean view. All in all it is a great value, you get an ocean view, friday fireworks in the Marina, and room to spread out in a condo that is fresh and clean. I can't wait for my next visit. One hit against the building, not the condo or owner. Make sure you tell the parking lot attendant that you want a residential pass before you pay the first time. They won't refund your money, even if you are asking them about it as they are putting the money in the register.

Also, it was a little bit more noisy that last year (because of the Chart House Restaurant below). Hopefully, we were on the 11th floor. All in all, we had a very good stay. Condo well maintained, fantastic view, and very conveniently located.

Nice ammenities with lots of storage, good shower pressure, nice kitchen, and good to have an ipod player too! Bed was very comfortable. Overall, a great experience and much more room and cheaper than a hotel room. There is no pool, gym etc at the condo, but who needs them when you can do everything outside!

We stayed for two weeks in Ilikai Marina. The condo is clean, spacious, and comfortable. It has almost everything you wish for holidays. The only thing we missed a bit is a dishwasher. The pictures truly represent condo and views from balcony. We liked that although it is located in the heart of Waikiki it is very quite. Aloha Condos was quick to respond on any queries. And if you like a quite beach and morning jogging it is only 15 minutes walk to ala Moana Park. Only few observations (and some of them not even related to the condo): 1. Smell in the hallways, probably because of old carpets or / and garbage room. 2. Better cleanliness of the apartment would be great. 3. As mentioned by one of the reviewer, recycling bins and explanations what can be recycled would be excellent (we don't want to keep destroying beautiful Oahu :)). Otherwise as I mentioned to Garry this was one of the best vacations in our lives. Definitely will recommend to our friends, and hope to return soon. Thanks Gary and Mary.

Thank you for your words, and we're glad you enjoyed yourselves.
The carpets are cleaned on a regular basis and are scheduled to be replaced in the spring.
It is our goal to provide an immaculate room for our guests. If anything has been missed please inform our local contact so that housekeeping can correct the problem immediately.
Recycling bins and a garbage chute are located in a closed room at the west end of the corridor. We also provide a free canvas bag to each guest to reduce the need for plastic bags while shopping.

The condo was awesome, especially for returning locals who have a car. Top of the list was the 180 degree ocean view from Hilton lagoon to ala Moana park from the living room/balcony and the bedroom (watch their excellent video - it says it all). The place was very clean, bright with natural light, well furnished, had a large SubZero fridge which was perfect for freezing our local delights we always bring back to the mainland. It was very quiet being a residence/condo-tel building. The large parking garage directly below the condo was very convenient for going in and out. It was very well stocked on kitchen and dining stuff. It even had a nice rack of spices to cook with. The king bed was very firm, and the pull out sofa sleeper was very comfortable with a memory foam top - very nice addition. The web site was very well designed, and the follow up emails were very informative, clear and simple. My family was very happy with my "find" at this condo. We will definitely be back. Thank you very much to Gary and Mary appel who I have never met but feel like I know them through their well thought out traveler's haven and emails. Aloha and Mahalo.

The only things I would fault it on would be the drapes in the bedroom and living room need replaced as they are torn and takes away the atmosphere of the condo. The location is a close walk to Ala Moana Mall, the Beachwalk shopping area and Waikiki. Watching the sunsets, water activities (and Friday night fireworks)from our lanai while drinking some fabulous 100% Kona coffee was a great vacation highlight. On site laundry on the 8th floor was helpful too. Hint: The higher floors are better if you are noise sensitive as the great bar/restaurant on the ground floor marina side stays busy late. The condo was exactly as described and pictured. It was immaculate, comfortably furnished and had a fantastic view of the marina and Honolulu's beautiful sunsets. The kitchen was the best equipped condo of any we have stayed in from Paris to Amsterdam and the building was very quiet. The attached parking garage (while a bit pricey at $17 per day) was very convenient and secure with unlimited in and out privileges. The owners were extremely easy to work with and very concerned that all of our needs were met. Any questions we had were answered promptly. We had a local contact along with the owners' email and phone numbers in case of any problems - of which there were none. Our only initial concern was locating the actual entrance to the building. Our GPS couldn't determine that while the street address is Ala Moana Blvd. the building and parking garage are accessed via Hobron Ln. between The Red Lobster and Charter House restaurants. Having laundry facilities on the 8th floor near the elevators was convenient. Just remember to bring plenty of quarters and your own soap & fabric softener since there are no change machines or product dispensers. The only other comment concerns the carpeting in the hallways - it is in need of a deep cleaning and some TLC. This, however, is an issue for the complex not this specific unit. We had a great stay and have already told many friends that we would highly recommend this unit as the perfect place to stay while enjoying Honolulu, Waikiki and the island of Oahu.

We did have a problem with the old sofa sleeper as its mattress is super thin and sleep on it is impossible so we decided to sleep on the floor, hopefully the owner will get a better sofabed(or an air mattress)soon, but other than that, everything else is just perfect. I'm telling all my friends about this place, some of them already expressed interest and are waiting for more detailed info, do I get a referral discount next time when I come back? ^_^

We have an air mattress in the condo for guests to use now. Thank you for the great suggestion!

Also with it is convenient location(10 mins walk to world famous Ala Moana shopping mall), and a few mins walk to the beach, and Ala Moana Park that is really make you feel like you are on vacation. Most of all, this unit is fully furnished, and completely remodeled that give you a warm feeling, seems like to stay in your own cozy home.I definitely will come back again and highly recommended to everyone to book this unit, especially the price is more than a decent price

We really enjoyed staying here--it has all the amenities we needed and a great location for both our sales and for R&R. Right downstairs is the Chart House and they have great deals at Happy Hour for appetizers and drinks! The view at sunset over the marina is just gorgeous and comes up as a screensaver on my computer quite often. Bed was quite comfy an dit was nice to be able to have breakfast on our own. We will stay here again if we can.

I have been reading the reviews since we stayed in this apartment and I can only assume something was done about the filthy carpet! I just felt sick when I saw it. Cannot imagine who would be able to spill so much on a cream carpet - it was hideous. As for the towels, my dog had better, really worn and a grey colour. Have never stayed in a holiday home that was so disappointing. I got in touch with the owner who just fobbed me off! Chuck the manager was great with the booking payment etc so no worries there. I do agree it is in a great place, so close to shopping and a lovely little lagoon to swim in if you don't want to walk to far when it is hot. Also there was no electric kettle at the time and we had to boil up a pot of water for tea, microwave water just does not cut it. Perhaps another apartment would be better for future holidays for us as I would not trust the pictures on the Aloha Condo site.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and we appreciate the feedback.
Our guests do sometimes stain the carpet and after several unsuccessful attempts to remove the stains by steam cleaning, we decided to replace the carpet with a simulated wood floor - it's more attractive, and easier to keep clean. This was completed in November of 2008.
Although we have had no other complaints about the towels, our towels were replaced early this year (2009) when we brought in a new local contact and cleaning crew.
Both we (the owners), and our local staff make guest satisfaction a high priority. Guests are provided with contact information and we do respond to all our guest's concerns. The recent positive responses from our other guests confirm that we are achieving this priority.

Gary & Mary Appel, Owners, Ilikai Marina Condo 1188

It's a beautiful apartment with a gorgeous view. I found everything within the apartment, such as kitchen equipment, very adequate. Ala Moana Shopping Centre is close by, which made self-catering easy, and there's a little supermarket just on the corner if you don't fancy a walk. Waikiki is also handy in the opposite direction but if you'd rather avoid it, you can. The apartment is also within range of a pay as you go wireless network, which was useful for me. I wish I could have stayed longer, and would happily go back again. Loved the constant view of the sky and ocean, and the marina below. The only draw back was the high cleaning fee. However, it meant that the apartment was in very good condition.

This condo is prettier than the pictures, and very well equipped. It's at the end of the Waikiki area, but still convenient to shops, restaurants, the beach, & the bus line. (About a 10 minute walk to ala Moana shopping center- buy your groceries there, as well as anything else you can possibly imagine). The bed was very comfortable, and when we had trouble getting the t.v. working, the local contact for the condo responded immediately & helped out. A great value for the money, although the cleaning fee (for a 3 day stay) seemed a bit high - but it is Hawaii, where nothing is cheap, and the daily condo rental itself was very reasonable.

The condo overlooks the yacht harbor. You can also see the ocean and Waikiki beach from the bedroom window. The unit is good for two to three people. The location is ideal for shopping, access to beach, dining out and other fun activities. Convenient location for tour bus pick-up (at Ilikai Hotel) across the street. Paid parking available attached to Ilika Marina. The condo is close to everything you would need; we did not need to rent a car except for one day. We did not use the kitchen much but it would help to have newer dishes. Bathroom is on the smaller side with only a shower stall. There is no tub in the bathroom. There was enough linens and pillows. The sofa bed was quite comfortable. Wireless internet is available and free.

I've visited Waikiki 4 times over the years and stayed in various levels of accommodation namely the Waikiki Shore appartments, Sheraton Waikiki and the Outrigger on the beach. In my opinion the Ilikai Marina represents the best combination due to being an apartment with full kitchen, having a perfect unobstructed ocean+marina view, conveniently located between the Hilton lagoon and the ala Moana shopping center. Then there is of course the significant price advantage over a hotel stay or even other comparable apartments. The apartment itself is fully equipped with everything you could require. My only slight misgiving would be the size of the lanai which although serves its purpose is a little small (room for two chairs and a small table only). The other significant plus is the owner Shahin who is very easy to deal with and provides first class support for any questions or issues you may have. I would certainly stay in condo 786 again.

My first visit to Hawaii was most definitely enhanced by our stay at Condo 786. Waking up to views across the marina to the ocean was a great way to start each day.Watching the fabulous sunsets from our lanai was a great way to finish the day. A small disadvantage of this western outlook was the sun streaming in during the afternoon necessitating drawing of the curtains. See-through climate control blinds would have been appreciated. Nevertheless, close proximity to beaches and shops of Waikiki, and pickup points (for local and tour buses) made daily activities easy and pleasureable. Our compliments to alice, the local manager, who handled a small maintenance issue with speed and coutesy. Email negotiations and contacts with the owner made the booking arrangements easy and personal.

My husband and I decided to book this condo during our first vacation to Hawaii for our anniversary. If you want to stay in Waikiki but don't necessarily want to be in the heart of all the action, then this location is perfect for you. Very convenient to ala Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana Beach Park, Hilton Lagoon area, and more. The condo itself was great, with only very minor cleanliness issues (i.e. I had an item roll under the bed, and noticed it did not appear to be vacuumed under there - quite dusty). Other than that though, everything you could need comes with the condo: towels, sheets, beach chairs, a boogie board, wide assortment of kitchen items, roll of paper towels, 3 rolls of toilet paper, a bar of soap, and dish soap. Bottom line: I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat when visiting Hawaii in the future.

This condo provided everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped. Bed was comfortable, as was the pullout couch. Be prepared to pay for the parking. Close to beach, park and shopping for walkers and right on the trolley transit route. Beautiful view of the ocean just over the tops of sailboat masts - not through them. The restaurant/bar below was not too loud to bother us and we actually enjoyed the sounds of jazz sax on a few nights while sipping a beverage on the lanai. Our only observation that could be changed is that the bathroom fan sounds a bit like a plane taking off- it is quite loud. The internet met all the needs of our 15 year old son and it was great to be able to make local calls from the unit. We had other family members come over for supper and the table expanded nicely - there are only six chairs so we had to improvise for the two others we needed. We were ther over New Years and it was great to be able to stay in the comfort of the condo and our own beverages to watch the fireworks from the lanai. The lanai is small only two people but there is plenty to see, susnsets. whales, surfers, planes, sailboats, birds, and of course there are always a few people to watch on the street below. We were glad that we chose the ocean view as the other view looking towards the mountains overlooked a parkade. the condo provided beach towels and we left a boogie board there, couldn't quite figure out the red beach chair. All in all yes we would stay there again.

We really appreciated the location. We enjoyed a harbour/sunset view without paying the price of a hotel on Waikiki beach. It was convenient/close to the great bus system on Oahu. It was also within easy walking distance to the ala Moana shopping mall and the Waikiki strip. The bed was king size and comfortable - always important! The unit was spacious and comfortable. The lanai was very tiny and not really good for spending any time on, but the view was great. The kitchen was very functional but the stove wasn't working when we were there so a hot plate was provided. We had planned on cooking but couldn't really so eating out was necessary and that is expensive. The hot plate was not great as it took a very long time to boil water for a cup of tea! I also called the cleaning service as one of the bedroom side lamps was broken. She said no problem, but never came to fix or replace it so we had to move a living room lamp to the bedroom for the week. The cleaning service fee is way too high.
Manager response:
Thank you for your comments.
Unfortunately the glass surface stove broke when another guest dropped a heavy object on it.
To my surprise, there was no similar stove on the island and I had to order one and wait for it to arrive. ;-(
I placed a hot plate during the wait period.

Had a wonderful time in this condo and its location met our needs very well. However the only "downer" was that when we arrived there was a note stating that the previous people had broken the stove and it was not available for use. We had planned on cooking all of our meals during our stay to minimize our vacation costs but were unable to. That's one of the reasons we prefer condos over hotels; the mere fact that we can cook our own meals instead of going out each time for a meal. The hot plate that was left for our use just did not cut it. So unfortunately we ended up with quite a sizable increase in expenditures that we had not planned for. Other than that, your condo was very enjoyable and we will certainly will want to rent it once again in the future. Thank you very much for making it available. Mahalo and aloha

If you are looking for a no frills basic accommodation in a great location then this is the perfect place to rent. Pro:Great location- close to shops, beach, bus stops and restaurants. The place was clean and in a safe neighbourhood. We felt safe coming back to the condo late at night. Good value for the price. Chuck was very detailed with how to check into the condo and it was smooth for the most part (I will explain in the cons section). If you don't have a smartphone or a laptop or tablet such as in our case you can go to ING direct cafe (about 5 to 10 min walk)where they have an internet cafe where you can use the computers for a very good price. Cons: We had difficulty getting into our condo initially because of the deadbolt lock on top was sticking making us think that the wrong key was left in the key box. Once we figured out how to jiggle the key in the deadbolt it was fine. We were informed from the description for the condo that there would be a blender for us to use. There was no blender in sight. It was not a big deal, but you might want to update your description of the condo so future guests will know what appliances are available. There was a musty/moldy smell when we first entered the apartment near the kitchen area but then afterwards it was fine. The television was a little small but we were not in the condo much so it was fine for us. If you have a disability having to take the steps to get to the elevator might be an issue. However there is a little sidewalk by the parking garage beside the condo where you can walk and pull your luggage so you don't have to lift your luggage up the steps. The condo is not wheelchair accessible (that we could see)and even if you park in their parkade you still need to walk up or down a flight (or two)of stairs to get to the elevator. Overall my friend and I enjoyed our stay at the Ilikai Marina and have no problems staying here again or recommending this place to anyone else.

Overall our stay was pleasant. The booking process and instructions were clear and straight forward. The greatest advantage of this condo is its location. It's very close to everything: beaches, shopping, public transit. The buses are very good only that they were severely disrupted during apec. The interior of the condo need to be updated. The carpet in the hall way is very old and dirty. I was surprised why carpet is even used in Hawaiian climate. The towels in the unit are very old, thin and even dark coloured. They should be replaced long time ago. The bed sheets are clean but perhaps the inserts are old and we smelled some odours. We liked open the sliding door of the balcony to get some Hawaiian fresh sea breeze, but it is a bit windy on the 17th floor and the wind shakes the door and makes noise.

My recent stay at the Ilikai Marina studio condo 1785 was a good one. The condo is adequately stocked with a coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, vacuum, and an iron. Ac works good. Free wireless internet and cable TV. Tv is small, but a flatscreen with good picture. The bed is a king and medium hard. The unit was clean. Lanai is small, view is of the city. Location is good for ala Moana shopping and the park. Bus stops are close. Rental car from alamo is nearby if you want a car for a day trip. Plenty of places to eat and five minutes to the lagoon or beach. Check-in and check-out effortless. My only gripe would be the cleaning fee, which for me was $200 over a 13 day stay. This was for one cleaning at mid-stay and one at check-out. I think one cleaning at the end of the stay would have been adequate and saved me $100. To be fair, I think cleaning charges are excessive for all condo rentals in Honolulu. I will certainly consider staying in 1785 again in the future, and would recommend the condo to those looking for a value accomodation for one or two people, or a couple with one child.

mf from USA on 08/06/2011 said:
We were very disappointed with this condo rental for the following reasons: 1. Upon our arrival the condo had not been cleaned since the last tenant - food, trash, and dishes were scattered about the kitchen and dining table. The bedspread cover was dirty and stained. When we called the onsite contact, Alice, she came immediately to clean and said she was never notified that we were coming. Alice promptly cleaned the condo and replaced the bedspread cover with a new one. However, when we returned we noticed that the toilet had not been properly cleaned and there were splatter marks on the toilet seat. 2. The bathroom has new fixtures and *looks* good in the photos, but has a strong moldy smell. We were not sure where it was coming from, but the shower curtain liner was covered in mold/mildew. 3. The toaster is a fire hazard. Its sides get extremely hot after toasting one piece of toast. We found this out the hard way when I touched the side of it and got a second degree burn on my finger. 4. The bed skirt is ripped on a couple of places and is taped together with duct tape. When we contacted the owner/manager, Chuck Buser, to express our concerns about the cleanliness about the condo, we were never able to reach him. Yes, this condo is very inexpensive per night and is in a good location for beach access, but we found the problems to be too overwhelming and we will never stay here again. We will also hesitate to recommend the entire property because of the problems with this unit.
Manager response:
The condo had not been cleaned because you chose to ignore our instructions and checked in very early. When we have guests arriving and departing on the same day, the cleaners need to have uninterrupted access to the condo in order to fully prepare it for the next guest. Had you followed our very simple instructions, or at least requested an early check-in in advance, this would have been a much better experience for all of us. Your local contact is there to help, and had you given us the opportunity to correct any of our shortcomings during your visit, we would have been happy to do so.
Chuck.

Nice location, few minutes walk to Waikiki beach. The owner actually provided more stuff than showed on website - Beach umbrella, beach chair, safety float and so on. Overall, very good experience staying there.
Manager response:
Dear T. Liu,
Thanks for your positive & encouraging review. We will continue our best effort to keep our condo clean & comfortable for valuable customers like you.

Really enjoyed staying at the condo. I especially liked how easy your business process are. Everthing was easy to get done. I didn't have to worry about anything. The condo had everything I needed. The one wish I had was for a larger TV monitor. It was a bit too small to watch TV comfortably. Evertything was great, especially the service from Chuck.

Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at this condo. It was safe, modernized and well-equipped. In respect of cleanliness, I would recommend washing of the windows, drapes and carpets. (I presume the bedspreads/pillow covers are laundered after each stay). If you are noise sensitive, take your ear plugs or if you have trouble sleeping you might look for a quieter location, away from the ongoing background noise of traffic (buses, trolley cars, taxis and motorcycles). At nighttime, the outside noise level did not subside until between 2:00 a.m. - 5:30 a.m. Otherwise, the location was ideal, very close walking distance to a wonderful swimming beach area adjoining the Hilton Hawaiian Village complex (great ice-cream and coffee at Lampert's), lovely Duke's lagoon with the fireworks displays on Friday evenings 8:45 p.m., shady Fort De Russey Park, Magic Island, and good swimming at ala Moana Beach Park, nearby restaurants such as Charters, the downstairs pub with excellent pizza, and the Red Lobster and a handy aBC store at the corner on ala Moana Blvd. Thee to four blocks away is great shopping at ala Moana Shopping Centre, while at Ross's, Wall Mart and the Don Quixote store you can get more affordable grocery items, clothing & household items, souvenirs, chocolates, Kona coffee etc. There is good bus service to where ever you want to go in Waikiki, Honolulu or other parts of the island and you can conveniently rent a car from avis across the street at the Discovery Tower, or Thrifty's Car Rental (on Kalakaua just east of ala Moana Blvd.). We especially loved our day trips to Diamond Head Park and Hanauma Bay. Our trip around the eastern side, north shore and through central Oaha was interesting seeing different landscapes, the surfers riding the big waves, pineapple plantations, corn fields and other rural areas. We loved our first visit to Oahu and would stay at this condo again - great value and convenient! Aloha and Mahalo.

The unit/building was very nice, clean, and secure. All amenities are within very close walking distance. Not an oceanview but you spend all day looking at that so it was nice to have a city/mountain view when in the unit. Make sure you arrange to have quarters for laundry as there is no coin machine and it's difficult to get change. Highly recommend others to stay.

First of all, the booking and instructions for accessing the condo were excellent. The location is great and the condo was clean. The issues we had are small and relate to the unit needing a bit of money spent on it to make it excellent. The TV had been replaced with a flat screen, but it is only about a 20" widescreen, pretty small. One towel bar in the bathroom was missing and the shower curtain was falling apart. The kitchen has been reno'd, but it was a cheapo job with the cabinets being installed so high the you need to get on a stool to reach the second shelf, let alone the third one. The ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor are chipped and the carpet in the rest of the unit (along with the drapes and the hokey old silk flowers) all need to be scrapped. Also, the rollers on the sliding door to the balcony and its lock are worn out making the door very difficult to open and impossible to secure. It also bangs and whistles when the wind is strong. The unit includes towels and a face cloth, but they are so old and thin that we bought some new ones. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again, but it take a fairly small amount of attention and expenditure on this condo to make it the one that we would seek out for our next stay.
Manager response:
Dear Wayne:
Thanks for the review, and suggestions.
I am buying new bath towels, face cloths, fixing the towel bar, shower curtain, balcony door lock.
Hope it will give you a better experience for your next stay. Thanks for staying in my condo.

Room was clean. Bed Sheets were of good quality, Pillow was fair quality. Bath Towels and face towels ok. Bed a huge King, slightly firm and we slept well all except the first night. Drapes black out room quite well. The condo had plenty of items some condos do not have such as: Coffee Filters, Sugar, Paper towels, toilet paper, salt etc. It could be that the previous guest left some of the items. Great little kitchen to make coffee every morning. Huge Frig. Great to have a dining table in the room. TV had many channels. The view of the City/Mountains is very panaromic. Location to Resturants and ABC store is only 1 or 2 blocks away. The room is quiet, except for the first night when one of the neighbors was in late and loud with shutting their lanai door which really shakes up the wall. We got the room when there was a special rate, so all in all much better, bigger room than a Hotel in the same price range.

We found Condo 1785 excellent. The booking process via Aloha Condo's website was quick and easy and the email communication via Chuck was excellent every step of the way, from telling us when payments are being taken and providing the joining instructions, to answering any ad-hoc questions as soon as they were sent. The condo itself was very clean and well kept with everything you need. The main room is large and the condo has a full kitchen, cooker / fridge etc with a clean bathroom. The entire building was fairly modern and well kept. Its a 5 minute walk to the closest beach (next to the Hilton) and a 15 minute walk to Waikiki beach and all the amenities, shops and restaurants found there. Closer to the condo are a number of restaurants and bars, the Ala Moana shopping centre is a 5 minute walk, and an ABC store is over the road. The only critisism we had is there wasn't a grocery store or supermarket near to the condo (we didnt really look too hard) and there is some street noise from the balcony even when the doors were closed but this really was not a problem. Stopping here is a fraction of the cost of the hotels close by and you have the option of cooking meals rather then eating out. Its only 5-15 minutes away from everything you need which for us made it exceptional value for money without offering dirty, cheap and nasty accommodation. I would reccommend this condo to everyone!

This property has an excellent location for beach and shopping, clean and convinient. Perfect for two people. Kitchen is well equipped. My only suggestion would be to have 2 lounge chairs in the unit to take it to the beach. I am coming back next year and renting this place again for sure. Marina

We reallly enjoyed your clean condo in the Yacht Harbor area. From obtaining groceries, eating out, catching the bus or strolling the beach and docks your location can't be beat. Thanks for sharing! The building is clean and quiet and the residents are friendly. Sorry to see that the Ilikai Hotel is stalled in the renovation process. We had been there 30 years ago! However, the lagoon area is completely updated and the beautiful sunsets are still there.
