1-Bedroom 1-Bath Ocean Condo - Sleeps 2
Beautiful view. Great location. All the comforts of home. The condo needs some updating.
Pleasant and relaxing
Entry and access to the room was straightforward and as arranged - very good. Otherwise everything was communicated via the information sheet in the room. The room was great, plenty of space and comfortable with great views over the marina. Only real issues were around (lack of) further information on the area, things to do, places to go... Would have liked more shelter at the pool and perhaps a bar/cafe option poolside? But that's just me! Perhaps a tap outside the pool to wash off sand when returning from the beach? Great location, slightly away from the hub hub of Waikiki. The air conditioner was noisy!
A slice of tropical heaven!!!
We spent two weeks there in Sept 2013 and we loved it! We hope to go back. The condo is wonderful. It faces west over the marina. We enjoyed an ocean view and marvellous sunsets every evening. It's completely equipped. There were even some dvds to watch and books to read! We contributed one more dvd,a book, and a road map of Oahu! We particularly enjoyed the beach umbrella, which we took with us to Hanauma Bay when we went snorkelling (and were the envy of many people!). The condo includes phone and wifi, which we appreciated immensely. It was so good just to plug in the laptop and continue life as normal. We searched for things to do and booked tours on line. Kat was wonderful and she has an envelope on the back of the door with all the necessary information and addresses for places. We were minutes from Waikiki Beach. We went out past the pool, down the ramp, through the marina and the Hawaiian Hilton Village. Voila! Waikiki Beach! The Ilikai's location is excellent. Sightseeing trolleys and buses stop at the front door. We walked to the ala Moana Mall several times...maybe 15 minutes. The downstairs market and the aBC store were convenient. The car rental places were across the street. You can park cheaply (for downtown Waikiki) at the parking garage across from the Modern Hotel. $7 for less than 10 hrs, and $20 for 24 hrs. The Hawaiian Hilton Village is next door and we did a lot of souvenir shopping there. The Ilikai Hotel staff were really helpful. We arranged a lot of our tours and activities through them. On our check out day, our plane didn't leave till late in the evening, so the Bell staff held our bags, and we spent the day on the beach and beside the pool. Thank you Bell staff! You guys are great! Pool staff were friendly, too. Kat's housekeeping service was excellent. We asked that no chemicals or fragrant products be used and they did it! Scent free! Clean! Thank you Kat!!! We'll be back!!! .
Needs updating and overpriced but good location
The layout of the unit is nice and the view is nice. The location of the building property is convenient and was perfect for us; the main street in front is busy. There was a group of us in town for a memorial, five rooms total being rented from Ilikai. This room was the most expensive and least updated. Other units had newer, more attractive furniture and bedding, granite countertops, decor. The price seems reasonable compared to a hotel in the Waikiki area especially since it has a kitchen, but comparing the price to the other units in our group it was overpriced. The bed was springy and uncomfortable, the pullout sofa was very thin and uncomfortable. The a/C filter needs to be changed as it had a mildew or some other odor. The wireless internet network that was listed for that unit was actually not found so we had to use other various unsecured networks and were continually bumped off throughout the day which was very frustrating and stressful as we were working on the program and slide show for the memorial. When we called for help they were unable to remedy the situation. The bath towels were thin and older and you just have the one set to use during your entire stay (unless we weren't informed otherwise). Also because the door has a keypad to enter the unit, we presumed that when the door was shut tight it was locked. We found out on our last day that we had been leaving the unit unlocked! Apparently you have to press a button on the keypad when leaving to lock it. The cleaning fee also seems very high.
We are sorry for any confusion you may have had during your stay. Our Local Contact person is available 7 days per week to answer any questions or concerns you may have during your stay. The Contact number is provided on the door, in the emailed instructions and on a refrigerator magnet. The entry lock is an electronic key pad with a dead bolt and they do not lock automatically. Directions are emailed to our guests in advance. There is a label on the door lock that says to lock the door. There is also 24/7 Security available in the Ilikai and they are available if you have any Security issues or concerns. All of our condos are individually owned and sometimes are priced differently. This condo does not have granite counter tops and the pictures on the website were taken in the condo and are accurate. The #33 condos are very desirable for the views of the Ocean & Sunset facing West. You always have a magnificent view of the Sunset, Marina and Magic Island. The Ocean Sunset Marina views are a bigger part of the pricing than counter tops. Unfortunately the WIFI at the Ilikai occasionally has connectivity issues with certain guest devices but normally the Internet Provider 24/7 help line can trouble shoot any problems. 2 sets of bath towels plus 1 beach towel are provided for each guest. The AC is serviced on a regular basis. Regarding the sofa bed, we haven't received a complaint before and since it has been brought to our attention we have changed the occupancy to 2. We don't want anyone to be uncomfortable. Comfort for our guests is very important. Our professional housekeeping staff cleans and sanitizes the kitchen and bathroom, mops inside and outside lanai, launders, prepares bedding and linen and provides a starter set of amenities such as a fresh sponge, liquid soap, dish-washing soap, paper towels, toilet paper, shower soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion at every check out. Guests also receive a complimentary canvas tote bag, note pad and pen. Mahalo for your feedback. Manager
Fairly Good Value but Cleanliness Issues
We stayed in Ilikai Unit 833 in mid-August, 2013. The Ilikai is in a great location, away from the craziness and crowds of the main part of the hotel district. Unit 833 has, in our opinion, the best view of the different sides of the uniquely shaped Ilikai building, seeing the marina and great sunsets each day. The unit's layout is good and the furnishings are adequate, although the wood on the matching sofa and chairs is extremely worn and scratched (but the cushions are OK). The toilet seat also has several chips on it and should be replaced. Our primary issue is that the unit was not clean, in a way that indicates it hasn't been properly cleaned in a long time. A misplaced small item caused us to look under the bed and move some furniture - it was filthy under there! Huge amounts of dust. The wall air conditioner unit (the Ilikai having been built before central a/C came along) was also full of dust, and would lose the battle each afternoon with the afternoon sun/heat, so when we came back from the day's sightseeing, the temperature in the room would be higher than comfortable. There was also some sand and dust on the open floor areas. Each reservation requires a $125 cleaning fee - this is a total waste; I don't think the cleaners do much more than change the linens. Did we contact the management company to have these issues rectified during our stay? No - plain and simple, if they're not doing thorough cleanings in between guests, they're not going to do anything differently when our belongings are all over the place. I would say that neither the management company nor the unit's owner are visiting this unit from time to time, or they would see the inadequate job that the cleaners are doing, and they would also see that some of the furnishings could use replacement (as noted above). The rental rate does result in this unit being a reasonable value, but it could be a lot better with cleaning and updates.
Aloha, We are pleased the Guest enjoyed the Ilikai, its smart location and the spectacular views from this 8th floor condo. Before this Guest arrived in Waikiki, they had emailed with a few questions that were all answered in a timely manner. Had the Guest called the Local Contact number provided or emailed as he did prior to his arrival, any and all concerns would have also been addressed quickly. The condo was professionally cleaned by an insured Housekeeping Company and then inspected for arrival readiness by the licensed Management Company's staff. This is our standard procedure and was done the day prior to this Guest's arrival. It is unfortunate that a Guest would go home unhappy about anything regarding our condos. The Guest info packet begins by saying to call the Local Contact Person about any concerns or questions upon your arrival or during your stay so we can address any concerns immediately. 833 has a long list of upgrades that have occurred over the past few years which include, bamboo floors, paint job, new upholstery, new drapes, new dishwasher etc. Finding out about our Guest discovering a problem after they are back home is unfortunate for all involved. We would have taken the opportunity to fix the problem to make our Guest happy. Hawaii Vacation Properties llc, management company.
Condo 833 is pleasant, great views of sunset. Could do with an update, particularly in terms of the airconditioning unit and TV. Facilities in the hotel for casual dining are not great, and the pool area needs an upgrade. There is no easy access to a beach, walking or a bus is required.
Being this the first time to Hawaii I found the friendliness of the people and ease to get around O'aho from the Ilikai Hotel was excellent. Love the condo view of the Harbour from the lani and the sunsets were gorgeous. Ilikai Hotel is keep clean as is the condo we stayed in. Great stay!
First of all I would like to say that dealing with Kathaleen Petron was a pleasure, she made sure everything was perfect from the reservation to the end of our stay there,we were treated like gold in the the ilikai, everybody was very friendly, the condo was beautiful, very clean and comfortable, the view from rm833 is beautiful, and the location was great, everything was within walking distance, were so looking forward to staying there again next march, thank you Kathaleen ,Mahalo!! This condo was comfortable but needed a "Spring cleaning" on the furniture, The toilet was sluggish. Great view tho.
Great Xmas Stay
Well laid out and decorated condo, very comfortable with good view of yacht harbour. Facing west, sunset views and not too hot during the day. Excellent handling of reservation and check-in instructions. Two very minor issues kept review from being fully excellent, but these were fixed very quickly with a call to the condo service number. Easy walking distance to alawai shopping centre or to Waikiki beach - a favourite morning walk was along the beach for a coffee. Kitchen island was too low to be comfortable as counter space for preparing meals but OK for eating etc.
Honolulu Marathon stay
We stayed at unit 833 wich is very conveniently located to the marathon start. The arrangements for entry into the unit were good and we had no hassles at all.It is an older unit but it was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it
Good introduction to Honolulu
Great location. Easy walking access to Waikiki Beach. Room was a bit dated, but clean. Has boogie boards, snorkeling equipment and umbrellas to use. Great view of the harbor and southern end of the city.
We were so happy to stay here. It is close to everything, very clean and quiet. Thank you Kat for helping me find this wonderful condo!! Will be happy to recommend this condo to everyone. Convenient, great view, great kitchen and great location. Not to mention a great price!
Very comfortable stay
Quiet - no street noise, walking distance to ala moana, good sized kitchen, fairly spacious. Only criticism would be the high cleaning costs. These amount to 125 dollars per week for a one hour clean and are a tad out there.Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed it
Loved the condo and the view, could have used more towels for showers, also needs shades for deck as afternoon sun was very intense.
Loved the condo key arrangement, no checking in procedure or having to worry if our flight is late. #833 was very nice. Our only suggestion is to check out the toilet, as it doesn't flush very well. We would certainly stay in the unit again and will recommend it to our friends.
The entire experience was without incident. I have stayed at the Ilikai Hotel many times in the past because of its location I have never stayed in a privately owned condo. I stopped staying in the hotel when the addition was started (I am disappointed in the property as a hotel but I will return to #833 if it is available the next time I am in Honolulu.
Great location - lots of extras
We were thrilled to find how close we were to the Hilton Lagoon - wonderful swimming for young children. The condo had some water toys on the balcony which were very much appreciated. A full kitchen - large fridge and large oven really helps when you have to feed young children - not always in restaurants. We also really liked using a code to access our condo - no worry about lost keys.
Really nice layout, great view, every convenience. I look forward to returning.
Fresh and Remodeled! 5 Stars!!
This is a wonderful, recently, remodeled condo. The new hardwood floors feel so good to walk on with bare feet and the old wallpaper has been removed throughout. The walls are freshly painted with a very nice, cool beige. The condo is immaculate and the marina view is spectacular. The entry instructions are easy and with the automatic lock on the door, you don't have to worry about losing any keys while at the beach. By the way, the beach is literally just a few minutes walk and you don't even have to cross the street. The Ilikai building itself is on the same side of the ocean, which is a big plus. The Ilikai Bar & Grill is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch on the way to the beach at a reasonable price. There is also a local coffee shop that recently opened on the lobby floor and the restaurant, Sarento's on top of the Ilikai is a great dinner place with an expansive view of Waikiki, Diamond Head and Honolulu. On Friday nights, the outdoor lobby/lanai has Hawaiian music and a hula show for the guest's entertainment. There is even a fireworks show that shoots off from the lagoon. Everyone was friendly and the property manager answered any questions I had promptly. Best of all is the stunning sunset view from the 833 lanai. For the location, price, view and condition, this condo is a 5 star gem!
Very comfortable condo with excellent view of the Marina and other activities from the lanai.
Christmas at the Ilikai
I really like the location of the Ilikai. I travel for business reasons and this is such a perfect location to the beach for fun activities, shopping, and very close to convention centers. The staff at the Ilikai are very helpful. Parking is expensive - yet very nice to have someone bring my car to me and park it daily. Its FuN to be plush now and then. Cheers!
The condo has a view that is second to no other, it was kept in an immacculate condition, with all the utensils in a kitchen that you could imagine. Pool was spacious and open and distance to the beach was a short 5-7 minute walk. Overall we will be looking to rent again in 2011.
Clean & Comfortable with a Great View
I stayed in this unit for 3 nights in September. The value would be great for a longer stay, but the cleaning charge and extended check in/out charges made it a more expensive option than I had originally planned. I really enjoyed the stay in the unit, though - lots of space, clean and comfortable, and a view to die for. The location was a fair distance from the downtown area, but trolley buses run past the door every 10 mins and cost $2 per trip. For serious shoppers a 10 minute walk will get you to the ala Moana Shopping Centre. Make sure you stay on a Friday night to watch the hotel luau show from the balcony and then take a short stroll to the beach where the Hilton has a weekly fireworks show.
Beautiful as usual, stayed on 1904 a couploe of weeks ago, just as beautiful, sunny, bright, large, super view, would not hesitate to stay in this unit again. Awesome...will be back
Excellent Location, Beautiful View, Great Value!
The view from this unit looks directly over the harbor and the ocean with gorgeous sunset views from the lanai. The new flatscreen tv is great and we enjoyed using the new dishwasher and new coffeemaker. The unit is supplied with beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrella, cooler and a new body board, similar to a boogie board. The free wireless internet was very useful during our stay and easy to use. There are also plenty of wine glasses for enjoying a relaxing evening on the lanai, while watching the hula show below on Friday nights. The two cordless telephones are convenient when two people want to share their wonderful Hawaiian experience with family and friends using the free U.S. and Canada long distance calling. Everyone we came in contact with at the Ilikai was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this unit and location!
excellent location and beautiful view
My family stayed in this condo for 25 days this summer. It had a beautiful harbor view and from its lanai we could see hula show every fridays. On the Independance Day, we could see fabulous fireworks on our lanai whitout waiting outside for a long time. The building was very secure and we could use free wifi in our room. Just the construction noise from next building for the new swimming pools annoyed us when we stayed in the condo during the day, but it was almost finished when we had to leave. The location of the condo was also excellent. We could walk to the ala moana shopping center for shopping or our meals. Just across the street, there was Mcdonald and aBC store and also many nice restaurants. The rent-a- car office was across the street, taxis were always waiting in front of the building and the tour buses also came there for pick-up. We also stayed in Hilton Hawaiian Village for two nights and also liked the place, but Ilikai was a good value.
It's simple, easy, accurate and when you reserve the unit you don't have to wait for a confirmation of availability, like some other. You reserve it, you have it. The unit are #1,very nice and clean. The person at the Ilikai are very friendly and helpfull. Totaly recommend it and it's sure I'll choose aloha Condos when i'll comeback to hawaii.
