“ We recently enjoyed a 5 night stay in apt 1639. It was very clean and comfortable. We had 4 of us staying there and were all able to comfortably sleep. The bed was very comfy. Views magnificent, although quite a height! Appreciated the little things like dw tablets, cloths etc which saved money. Internet was quick and easy to use. All amenities were spotless and clean and worked well. Would recommend to a family of 4. Appreciated the beach towells and equipment too - my son used the boogie board and snorkelling equipment. Well known location for bus pick ups and tours. Only a short journey to shopping. Mahalo! ”

It had everything that we could want, with lovely furnishings, renovated kitchen, with granite countertops, and the bed was very comfortable. We loved having our meals on the lanai, watching the boats and activities, and the beautiful sunsets. We were very happy to have the use of beach chairs and mats, and it was only a five minute walk to the beach. Thank you Helen for allowing us to stay and we will return for sure. ”

“ The condo was absolutely superb!! The view from the 16th floor was breathtaking. The unit itself was very modern, up to date and complete. The location is great near both ala Moana and the Waikiki area. There are many stores nearby to pick up staples for breakfast lunch and dinner, and may restaurants in various price ranges. We had a dinner at the top of the Ilikai one night and were surprised at how nice and reasonable it was for a very fancy place. The only problem is parking. If you want to park reasonably you have to be at the right place the right time. We used valet parking at $25 a day to avoid all that searching and walking back to hotel. I thought that $132 for cleaning after 4 days a bit much. ”

Home away from home... with a view!

“ This condo was well appointed had been recently renovated and was very comfortable. Our little girls slept on the pullout sofa and we slept in the separate bedroom. The Lanai was very spacious and ours was the only one with a sliding aluminum shutter door which was great when the afternoon sun started beating in through the sliders. The view was amazing and we had a front row seat for the 4ht of July fireworks! The location was great, central and easy to get around. the condo itself had a bunch of little things that made the stay easy..napkins, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, condiments all meant we didn't have to waste time or money shopping for those things. Laundry facility and trash were right down the hall. It was really convenient and comfortable. We will be back next year, definitely! ”

“ The condo was very nicely decorated and very clean with everything you could possibly need, right down to snorkel and goggles, beach mats and beach umbrella! Appreciated the fact that dishwashing powder and liquid was supplied and also that small things like salt & pepper etc had been left there by previous visitors. There was an abundance of towels, hand-towels also which was handy. My one and only negative was that the sofa bed was very noisy and not very comfortable. Everytime someone rolled over in their sleep you could hear them very clearly. The view from the balcony was superb as were the sunsets and sometimes the fact that it was away from the hustle and bustle of central Waikiki, made it very relaxing and more peaceful. ”

We normally cook alot while on vacation but due to the many committments we had were unable to utilize and enjoy that awesome kitchen. We really like the partition between the bed and the rest of the unit. Most units we looked at did not have that. We appreciated the great updates to the condo. Had an exciting afternoon with the laundry room fire and arrival of all the fire and police but all turned out well. Loved the view but weren't able to enjoy the sunsets due to clouds and being out at sunset time. Thanks for sharing your lovely condo. ”

“ I have stayed in many condos at the Ilikai in the past 10 years. This one was the very best!! There was planty of room for the 3 of us to comfortabley move around and store all of our luggage. The wall separating the bedroom and the rest of the condo was excellent for the 2 daughters to sleep in while I drank coffee on the huge lanai overlooking the yacht club and ocean...the best view ever also for the beautiful sunsets every night. Everything was included from ice-maker to beach towels...totally awesome! Within walking distance to all amenities like the ala Moana Shopping Center and the center of Waikiki. I will definetly be booking this one for my next trip to Hawaii! Thank you Helen for the Best trip ever! ”

The condo is extremely clean, very well-equipped (kitchen, linens, beach items), modern amenities, excellent view of ocean and ala Wai Marina, and quiet. Given that it is a one-bedroom, it is quite spacious. We were in town for Uh's graduation ceremony and were able to host a dinner for 8 people very comfortably. Valet parking is $25/day which was a bit high (I thought) but it was well worth it given that nearby self-parking was $20/day. The valets were courteous and the car was delivered quickly. Online reservation process was effortless and owner response was excellent when contacted. Would highly recommend this unit and would most definitely stay here again. ”

We considered getting a condo facing the lagoon, but we are so happy we didn't this side of the building is much quieter and the view at night with the marina all lit and the city lights was breathtaking. Helen was great to work with and very knowledgable.There is so much to do in Oahu and this is a great home base and convenient to everything. Don't rent a car you can go everywhere by bus or trolley and all the tour companies pick you up in front of the Ilikai. Mahalo ”

Everything you need is close by from grocery stores to restaurants. The view from the lanai was so spectacular at sunset we ordered out and had dinner there on several occasions. Having a laundry room available was also helpful. Every possible means of transportation stopped at the front of the hotel. The only suggestion we have is that we found the sofa bed uncomfortable (felt springs through the thin mattress) and had to use it in the sofa configuration. That worked fine with us since we had only three adults. There is no question we would use the condo again on our next visit and recommend it highly. ”

The queen bed is very comfortable and there is lot of space to storage luggage and clothes. The bathroom with plenty of thick towels has a spacious shower. We were happy to have at our disposal beach chairs, beach umbrellas and nice beach towels. We were with our 2 kids and they were additional chairs either to eat inside or on the lanai all together. We took nearly all our meals outside on the lanai and appreciated the spectacular view. We appreciated too to have access to free WiFi and free calls. The condo is also very well located, a few steps from the beach and not directly in the crowd of Wakiki. This condo is perfect and we highly recommend this unit to anyone. It is tastefully furnished, clean and everything you could possibly need at your fingerti[s. The location is best, the bus line, and is walkable distance to the mall and ala Moana Beach Park. It truly is a gem. I would not recommend htis condo to families with small children, as one would need to close the lanai sliders, for fear of chldren climbing over the rail. Keeping the sliders open iw what it's all abut in Hawaii. ”

“ My wife and I decided to go to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. My wife spent months on the internet trying to find just the right holiday. She looked at all of the different hotels and weighed the plus' and minus'. We finally decided on Unit 1639 at the Ilikai. What a great call. We loved this suite. We actually had friends come with us and they stayed in a different room at the Ilikai so we were able to do a little comparison while we were there. Although their room had two beds there was no storage so they had to live out of their suitcases. We had nice big clothes and linen closets. Their room felt like a hotel room, ours felt like a home. They did not have the same services as us, such as free internet, free long distance, and our tv service was better. Although we loved the rest of Waikiki, this room was the highlight of our trip. The view of the marina is great and the sunsets are fantastic. The Ilikai is located at the end of the beach but this was not a problem for us. It is no more than a short walk to anything. We will happily stay in this suite at the Ilikai again. ”

We loved every moment from the friendly greeting by the Porter who helped us with all our bags to the great location only minutes walk from Ala Moana Shopping Centre and Waikiki shops/beach. The owners have created a very comfortable unit although within a small area. It is probably better suited to just one couple, however we had our 11 and 12 year old daughters with us and they were comfortable enough sleeping on the fold out couch. I must admit given the cost I had warned my family not to expect much having stayed at places up to that point that were 2 or 3 times the price, however once I opened the door we were all blown away at how beautifully the unit was furnished. Also the kitchen had everything you needed to cook a family meal etc if you wanted. The views from the balcony over the harbour were also quite relaxing. Overall I found the unit much quieter than previous accommodation we had stayed in at Waikiki Beachwalk. The only thing that would make this unit better would be if it had laundry facilities but there really isn't the room. There may be facilities elsewhere within the complex, to be honest I didn't ask. The owners may like to replace the locks getting into the unit as we found them a bit tricky sometimes to get open. Other than that I would honestly say that if you are a couple looking to stay in Honolulu you couldn't do any better. Thoroughly recommend and if we come back to Honolulu it is definately where we will stay! ”

“ This condo is beautiful. Beautifully decorated, beautiful view, beautiful accomodations. Everything about the condo was luxurous. The apliances were all modern which we were expecting because of the photos. What I was delightfully surprised about was the super high thread count sheets on both the master bed AND for the pull out couch. In addition, the bath towels were luxureous! We had just finished a 6 night stay at the Hyatt down the road and the quality level of linens here blew the Hyatt away!! Thank you sooooo much! I loved that everything we could want or need in the condo was there. My children especially loved having the use of a boogie board and I loved the beach chairs. The only thing that I could complain about was that there was construction going on at the building next door and so we could not enjoy the lanai in the morning or afternoon because the jack hammering was too loud. ”

It was nice sitting out and looking at the sunset in the evenings. We found it to be the perfect place for location. The beach was a five minute walk and they were clean and relaxing. The super mall was about a five minute walk as well. The whole time I felt safe walking around which is one of the best things I liked. I would definatly go back and rent unit 1639. “ This was our first time renting a condo instead of staying at a hotel and I can definitely say I would go back again. The condo was very nice, it had everything we needed and was in a great location. We had three small children and having a full kitchen was wonderful. The only downside was that the pool was being renovated during our stay, but since the beach was only a 5 minute walk we really didn't mind. ”

“ Really good interior design -- its a small space, but the layout really compliments the area so you never feel cramped or overcrowded by the furniture. Very modern and very clean. Although the boats were not much to look at, the sunrise/sunsets from this condo were awesome. You can even spot the surfers on the distant beach, and see regular cruise ships and freighters pass by. Our only concerns were the sliding door lock and the main bed. We had our 3yr with us, and there was no way to securely shut the door -- so ended up barricading the doors at night with furniture...lol. That and the main bed was really uncomfortable -- our son definitely scored with the comfy sofa bed. Re: Ilikai in general - many stores downstairs (lobby area) and the on-location restaurant were boarded up and vacant during our stay, so it has seen better days. The hotel next-door (what you see from lanai) is still undergoing renovation, but construction noise was not an issue. So barring the lobby area, the courtyard gardens were gorgeous. Plus every evening they light the torches outside and have a brief conch shell ceremony around sunset. Also has to be mentioned -- the shared lagoon in walking distance directly before the beach was awesome. They stock it with tiny fish, so all the kids had a blast trying to spot/chase/catch them. Turned out to be a lifesaver when we found out our son thought the sound of waves was 'too scary'! ”

“ The Ilikai is not as well maintained as we would have hoped. The neighboring hotel (which is part of the view) appears to be condemned or forgotten, with windows papered over and a pool full of brown water. The condo itself was nicely appointed, but the building fire alarms went off repeatedly in the night, requiring us to at least get up and call the desk, and at worst carry our frightened 5-year-old down many flights of stairs in the middle of the night. Could be a nice vacation spot after building and area maintenance are completed. ”
