Comfortable king-size bed, nice views, adequate butler's pantry, with nearby access to real stove and barbque. Wonderful large landscaped horseshoe-shaped pool at higher level near entry to Hanalei Bay Resort, curved "length" about 300ft, bordering nice hot pool (much larger than usual hot tub). Eight tennis courts at four different levels on the 23-acre site, which is on a hill that slopes down to the Bay and has a perfect Bali Hai view toward the sunset.

My wife and I stayed for 9 days and we really enjoyed it. The cost of the unit was very low, but the view was incredible. We would sleep with the sliding door open so we could hear the waves crashing all night... very nice.
The unit has a very small kitchenette area that has a microwave, toaster and fridge. The only sink is in the bathroom. It worked well for us, but it is definitely not a full kitchen. There are nice barbeques out by the pool.
This place definitely gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I would only do this unit for 2 people. You can rent the attached unit for an additional 4 people, and we are hoping to come back and do that sometime.
Fabulous time at the Hanalei Bay Resort!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Condo 7201.
The grounds were well kept and clean. The main pool is awesome, clean and warm. However, there is no lifeguard.
I was happy that there was a washer and dryer available for us to use. Remember to collect quarters if you plan to use it. It cost $3.00 (I think?). There is also left over detergent under the condo sink so no need to buy it! There are also recycling bins in the laundry area.
I was told there may or may not be a kettle in the unit but there is.
The condo itself was clean. We were very happy with its location and the cleanliness. The kitchenette is stocked with enough plates and utensils. They also provide a new dish sponge and liquid.
Perhaps we use more toilet paper than others but we ran out of toilet paper the very last night and had to resort to using tissue. It would be great if the owners left more toilet paper under the sink. I called the front desk and they don't provide anything for you.
This condo was far from the front desk but be sure to use the free shuttle service. We thought we had to pay so the first day we carried our luggage... big mistake!
One inconvenience was there is no wifi access. You have to go to the main lobby to use the internet. It wasn't so bad, it was nice to be disconnected for a while!
This resort is a gem! It's right next to the St. Regis Hotel. The "Hideaway Beach" was so beautiful and calm. We were happy to spend a lot of time there. The water is not clear and blue though- and the sand is not white so don't expect that. However, water is so warm and the atmosphere is relaxing!
The people were very friendly. The location of this resort is perfect. Princeville and Hanalei Bay are exceptional and we had a wonderful stay. Princeville is a 2 minute drive, and very close to Foodland where we went quite often to pick up snacks and lunch.
Watch "The Descendents" and you'll recognize all parts of Hanalei Bay and Princeville!
Once again 7201 provided us a great vacation.

We returned to 7201 two years after our first visit and once again enjoyed staying in the unit. The views and privacy are the main reasons we choose this unit. Everything was clean and in order. The welcome bag with DVD and chocolates was much appreciated. Only a couple things make this less than absolutely perfect. The butler's pantry makes meal preparation and clean up a little tricky and again we had some noise coming through the common door to the unit next door, but nothing ear plugs and aC can't fix. Seems most people in Hawaii go to bed rather early anyway. I would highly recommend this unit to all my friends and family and hope to return again. Kauai is my favorite island and the northshore in particular, in the summer anyway.

We spent a lovely week in Condo 7201 having come from australia. The views are better than the photos and plenty of room on the lanai to gaze out amongst the green and out to the water. The room and amenity was great for a couple and while there are limitations with the cooking facilities, we managed well on the supplies from Foodland in Princeville. Being at one end of the resort and on the corner, it was private and quiet apart from hearing the chairs scraping on the floors above. being fit we never called for the golf cart to get us up the hill and it is not that hard anyway. The pool is lovely, great views and the walk to the St Regis shared beach good exercise on the way back up the hill. The grounds are lush and maintained and we found the staff friendly. As we had a car, it was a great base for all our trips around the island. We loved Hanalei Bay. It's a pity the bar/resturant is still a shell as it would really make the resort complete. With regard to the condo, the arrival package of a Kuaii DVD and chocolates was a nice touch. The condo itself was well equipped and the king size bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights in March 2012. The room was really spacious and had a great ocean view. I highly recommend this room for people that want to stay at Hanalei Bay who are on a budget and want a resort style room. After seeing the other resorts, like St Regis which is amazing, I'd still stay at Hanalei Bay Resort as it's far better value for money. I'd probably stay in a room with a kitchen next time but if I was staying for longer or intended to cook.
The only cons:
- Only very small kitchenette but all new. Had microwave, toaster/oven and bar fridge. Washing dishes had to be done in the bathroom. We only had breakfast in the room so this wasn't a real issue.
- It's probably the furthest room from the reception which is quite a steep walk for half of it. We didn't mind but this could be a problem for some. You can organise a buggy to pick up you however free of charge and they are quite prompt.
- The resort pool and spa were really good. It's a shame there is no bar or restaurant. I think these were damaged in the big fire some time ago and looks they aren't in a big rush replacing them.
A nice getaway to Princeville

The room was excellent. It had everything it needed down to insect spray, beach chairs and Tupperware containers. As I read previously in another review a guest thought that the mattress was too soft and my back was hurting as well. But I am coming spoiled from a tempurpedic mattress at home. I own a cleaning service and am particular about cleaning. The room was in great shape. A little dust behind the night tables and the bath tub could have used some soapscum remover.
There was a door that separated the apartment or room next to 7201 that had no lock in it. One night when we where watching tv we noticed that the neighbors walked in but then quickly backed up. I pointed it out to the resort and I am sure it was fixed already.
We loved using the jacuzzi at night to relax and meet up with other guests.
Overall everything was absolutely great and I would book the same room again.
Thank you!!
It was beautiful to open the big sliding door and listen to the waves crashing while falling asleep. In the morning we could enjoy the sunrise to the left over Hanalei bay while having breakfast.
Manager response:
We are delighted you enjoyed unit 7201. Every adjoining unit has two doors that close against one another. The door on your side has a doorknob only on your side, so once closed no one can open it from the other side. The same is true for the door that closes against it but opens from the adjoining unit. I believe the door on your own side was open as the other guests would not have been able to open it. In future please rest assured you can close the door on your own side and others will not have access to your unit.

I knew what I wanted when I booked this unit. I wanted one that was close to the main pool, but not near the center of the complex. I also wanted a view similar to the unit I book when I use my annual timeshare. This unit was perfect, especially since I don't mind a bit of an uphill walk.
I was disappointed to find that the main pool was closed through the duration of our stay. That is one of my favorite things about HBR. We were hoping that It would be ready before we departed, but it wasn't scheduled to be completed until ten days after our departure.
The galley was more than adequate, and being close to the small pool and barbeques was a real plus.
The home was very nicely furnished, and was a great place to hang out, with my son.

The room itself is just as described - nothing more, nothing less. Which is why it's such a great deal. It's comfortable with a fantastic location, amazing view at a reasonable nightly fee. The decor in the room is a bit dated though the addition of the butler's pantry was definitely a useful (and attractive) add. My only qualm with the resort/ room is that they do seem to nickle and dime you for what you would typically expect to be included in the fee (e.g., a key for the in-room safe). But that said, the resort is nice and so are the staff. I would definitely recommend this condo and resort.

Hbr 7201 is a small condo with only a 'butler's pantry' instead of a full kitchen. We did not expect much, but were pleasantly surprised. The fridge has a small freezer which was perfect for our ice pack. In addition to the microwave and coffee maker, which we expected, there is a toaster oven and a kettle. Dishes were adequate although bigger coffee cups would have been nice. Paper towels, napkins, salt and pepper, rubbermaid containers, foil, a cutting board and a dozen hangers were unexpected extras nice to have. King size bed was comfortable but a bit on the soft side for my taste. Furniture was in good shape, and the decor was ok. The resort has barbecues and a sink, counter and stove (but no dishes or pots and pans) in the small pool area which was near the condo, so we had dinner in a couple of times. Bbq worked well. We thought the condo, although small, made very good use of the space available. The lanai is completely covered so unless there was a downpour we had our meals outside. There is a marsh next door so the no-see-ums were a bit of a nuisance in the evenings that had no breeze. The condo is pretty far from the lobby and parking lot but we didn't mind the walk and it was very quiet at that end. Views of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai were lovely. I would have liked it if they had changed our towels mid-week and provided an extra tea towel. Overall though, a very nice stay and we didn't spend much time in the room. Excellent value for the money we paid.
Nice place!

I booked this unit online and had a hard time deciding between this or a larger full condo (such as 7202). For the difference in price I found this to a be a great place: The view from the unit is good (nice view of the ocean and surrounding mountains) and you can hear the ocean. The additional side window and privacy that this end unit has is a real bonus compared to other similar priced units.
This 'studio' style unit (think of it as a master suite, not really a studio condo) was simple but had all we needed for a three night stay and we could have easily stayed longer. I found that the lack of a real kitchen wasn't much of a problem--the fridge and microwave did the job and there are enough dishes/utensiles. The bathroom sink worked just fine for washing them.
To sum it up:
Good:
Ocean and mountain views
Nice pool, great hot tub
Sandy beach access
Not crowded at all (Feb 4-7). We pretty much had the pool and hot tub to ourselves.
Overall condo condition is good--real nice bed, tv, kitchenette area, etc.
Room for improvement:
The restaurant and bar are both closed (but they do have a BBQ during lunch hours at the pool)
Porch furniture is a little worn out
Red carpet is a little weird for me (but it was in nice condition)
No bluray player (I happened to have some netflix blurays in my luggage) but there is a DVD player and a nice TV that folds out from the wall.
The additional fees (room cleaning fee, resort fee, taxes) add significantly to the cost.
I put in 3 star for service, only because the hefty cleaning fee only covers a 'move out' cleaning. So you are on your own for taking out the trash, cleaning dishes, making the bed, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful though.
Nice Place, Great View, Wonderful time

The view is fantastic and the condo is just perfect for a couple that will be mostly dining out. The frig is small but good for soda and snacks. The bed is very comfortable and the tv is very nice to watch from the table or the bed.The climb to the parking lot is kind of rough at first but not bad after a few trips. If it remains a rough hike then call for a golf cart which usually arrive in short time so no real long waits. That is unless it is a day of checkouts and check ins. But very happy with the service over all. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are informative and eager to help. We had a lovely time. If you have any questions call Kristen Greene she is very responsive and quick to help. Aloha Trent

We chose 7201 for the location within the complex and the views. We were not disappointed. It was very quiet and people rarely walked by our lanai. It was very private at that end of the complex. No other lanais within view of ours. We had sunset views, mountain and ocean views. The gardens around our condo were very lush and green. We loved watching the birds come out in the morning. We were provided two new beach chairs. Check in was very easy and we were immediately taken to our room via golf cart with all our groceries and luggage. Whenever we called for a cart they were very speedy and friendly. The air conditioner worked well. Downsides included only a butler's kitchen. Although it had plates, bowls, knives, silverware and storage containers, if you want to eat meals in the room you must be a bit creative and not mind washing dishes in the bathroom sink. On a couple of occasions we had some noise coming through the door connecting the adjoining room, but it wasn't bad. We didn't mind the walk across the complex to get to the room or the beach, but someone who has any trouble walking a distance and any incline would find it difficult and would probably need to call for a cart each time they left or returned to the room. We found it great for several small work outs a day. All in all a nice condo in a great location on the northshore of Kauai. We would return, but might opt for the unit next door with the full kitchen.

Decent stay in Princeville for 5 nights! I think it's a good value, and what you see in the room pictures/description here is what you get. No surprises here.
One thing to note about this room is that it is about the size of a large hotel room with a small terrace. It is really just 1 room (no living room and kitchen). The coffee/dining table and TV is about 10 feet from the bed. There is a fridge, microwave, and utensils in a little nook by the bathroom, but the space is small, so don't expect it to be bigger than what you see in the pictures... Unless you also rented 7202 which has an adjoining room door. We didn't mind the adjoining door, but I imagine this might be annoying if you had a loud neighbor.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! It wasn't the best in the world, but it's definitely a good value. :)
