 Studio Condo

A great hotel room with a plush king bed, and newly remodeled bathroom and butler's pantry. This condo is one of the most private and quiet at the resort, however the best feature, of course, is the jaw-dropping view of Hanalei Bay and the surrounding Makana Mountains. less ↑

Great Stay, Beautiful View, Lacks Wifi Access

When we arrived to the resort, we were greeted with such hospitality after a long night of travel. This condo is not actually owned by the resort, so some procedures are different than expected. You are given two hard keys to unlock the condo versus the plastic card reader keys that some of the other hotel-owned rooms have. This wasn't a big deal to us. The condo was the perfect size for a couple, and had an amazing view. Honestly, we would just sit and stare at the view which makes this condo absolutely worth it. The condo was equipped with two beach chairs, tennis rackets, and a mini rolling cooler. There is a very small kitchenette with a mini fridge and freezer, along with cutting boards, utensils, drinking glasses, a coffee maker. There was no microwave which came as a surprise to us. We were hoping we could heat up some breakfast items before heading out for a hike, but with no microwave we couldn't. The major downfall was the lack of wi-fi. Although we were not in the room during the day, we would have enjoyed watching a movie on the Smart TV or our computers at night, and with no wifi this was impossible. We also had to use our data from our phones while browsing the internet to do hiking research. There was a little bit of a mildew smell in the bathroom, but not too pungent. The resort itself is beautiful - great pool (although not heated) and Jacuzzi, lots of tennis courts, a restaurant, and 10 minute walk downhill to the gorgeous Hanalei Bay. About a 10 minute drive to Hanalei Bay town, and about a 5 minute drive to Foodland grocery store. Overall, amazing stay! Would stay in this condo again! Pros: - View from balcony - Good size for (2) - Mini Fridge/Freezer, Coffee Machine - 2 beach chairs so we didn't have to rent - Great location/resort Cons: - No wifi access (please be sure to inform your guests of this prior to arrival) - A tiny bit of mildew smell in bathroom less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Madeline, Thank you for your review for the unit 7201 at the Hanalei Bay Resort. We are glad you found the unit to be what you needed and did enjoy the amazing views! You are correct in that some of the condos are owned by the resort and are time share units and others are privately owned like this unit. Thanks for mentioning some of the items that were included with the unit for convenience. There is not a microwave because the county of Kauai is not currently allowing the studio type unit to have them. We wish you would have called us about the wifi so we could have helped handle the situation. The resort is responsible for the wifi service and it is covered in the resort fee they charge. The owners do not provide the wifi and do pay in their dues to have that service. The wifi will reach throughout the resort and is not specific to location within the resort. Therefore it should have worked and they should have looked into it for you and sent a technician out. Thank you again for your review.

Amazing time in hanalei bay

Great condo, great view! The resort has everything you need & if you surf you are a ahort walk down to hanalei bay surf spot. I got to surf with Laird! Close to town, & resort staff is extremely helpful. Only thing to note is checkout in this condonis 10am, if uou can get a later checkout makes it a little easier. Would definitely recommend! Our Stay at Condo 7201

My wife and I were not at the resort to enjoy and partake in all the amenities, so we spent little time there. We got the impression that the resort is meant to be a place where patrons find all they need. We were out and about every day. The a/c unit was not working well when we arrived and it was fixed on one of our days out. However, then it was on all the time - the regulating controls did not seem to work right. There were no spare bulbs in the condo and a burned out bulb was not replaced, but we had adequate light. The space was smaller than we anticipated, but it was comfortable enough. The bed was too soft, but there are people who prefer that, so it is a personal preference. Overall, it was a good stay. We would have liked to have more time to enjoy the resort and explore more. Next time! less

Owner/Manager Response

aloha Jules,Thank you for taking the time to post a review for the unit 7201 at the Hanalei Bay Resort.  We are so glad to hear you found the unit to be comfortable.  The resort does have so many wonderful amenties and we are sorry to hear you did not get to enjoy them but it sounds like you had other activities planned.  We are sorry that the AC has an issue during your stay as properties do have unexpected issues arise.  We did get it attended to right away and a new part was installed.  We did not realize that the light bulb did not get replced as we did schedule it but as you mentioned there is plenty of lighting in the bathroom.  It is a speciality bulb.  The beds are always a very personal preference as you mentioned and of course can't be for everyone.  We do hope you can return and get to enjoy and explore more.

Beautiful resort, average condo

Hanalei Bay was beautiful! The resort is just like it looks in pictures. I booked it mainly because of how the pool looked online and it definitely lived up to expectations. Check-in was easy and everyone working there was friendly. If you stay in buildings at the bottom of the resort, take advantage of the 24/7 golf cart service to the parking lot, especially a lifesaver when checking out. As for the condo itself, the lanai and the building were nice. The view from 7201 was excellent and seemed closer than in pictures. The inside of the room was a little old, but functional. The biggest issue we had was bugs. We didn’t keep any food in the room, but when I woke up in the middle of night two, there were roaches on the bathroom floor. My husband made us keep the light on in the bathroom for the rest of the stay and that completely solved the problem. To save on electric, that issue should be taken care of asap. The only other issue we had was on checkout day. Our scheduled time to checkout was 10:00am, but the cleaner walked in our condo at 8:30. We showed her the sign in the room that said 10:00 and she said the owners told her we were leaving the day before. Easy fix, but we didn’t expect company at 8:30am. I would stay in the resort again, even though it is quite a drive to Lihue. If you want to eat, the closest places are in Hanalei, but most close at 9pm. We had a relaxing stay on the north side and look forward to returning. less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha  The Hanalei Bay Resort is a b eautiful resort and in a great location.  The condo has an amazing view of the Hanalei Bay and surrounding mountain and it does seem closer in person than the pictures.   We wish you would have called us about the bugs as we could have responded.  Of course it is a tropical island and they do come in when doors are opened but the resort does have a regular service in place. We are sorry for the house keeper showing up as it was a mistake on the schedule and not her fault.  It was straightened out immediately though.   We noted you said the closest restaurants were in Hanalei but there are lots in Princeville.  The resort has a bar/lounge which does serve food from 3pm to 9 pm.  The St Regis next door has 3 different restaurants.  The Princeville shopping center does have a food court with a couple restaurants and a couple full on restaurants.  There also are a couple other restaurants in Princeville at the Westin and Pali Ke Kua. We hope you can return and maybe find some of these restaurants.  Give us a call for any information needed.

Breathtaking View!

Stayed 2 nights at the Hanalei Bay Resort as part of my honeymoon. The resort itself is absolutely incredible with stunning views all over! The pool and hot tub are amazing at the resort, it is a short 8 minute drive to Hanalei Bay, surrounding restaurants, and other water activities. The room had a spectacular view of the mountains overlooking the bay. The shower was very nice, but the only negative comment I have is that the carpet needs to be replaced as it smelled kind of musty in the room. Other than that my experience was outstanding and I definitely will come back! less

— Brandon, Stayed 08/28/2017

Owner/Manager Response

aloha, Thank you for the great rating on the review for unit 7201 at the Hanalei Bay Resort.  The resort does have lots of nice amenities and views as well as the amazing view from this unit!  Thanks for mentioning the shower as it was just remodeled  a couple years ago.  The carpet also was replaced about a few years before that and we have not had any complaints about the carpet.  We do hope you will come back and are so glad you enjoyed.

Great location within the resort

This was such a nice private location. The downside is that it is far from the entrance to the resort (however, they did offer to golf cart us if we needed a lift). The room was clean with plenty of supplies to make the stay more comfortable. The resort itself is relaxed and fairly updated. I do wish the pool had waitstaff that came around while at the pool for food and drinks. The towel policy of 1 per person but can swap out anytime was fine - I would have preferred 2 per person. The staff was very friendly around the resort. However, the bar and restaurant staff was not as friendly - definitely not rude but not as upbeat. If I were to want to stay in Princeville again, I would definitely stay here. less

— Annalisa, Stayed 08/14/2017

Owner/Manager Response

aloha  Thank you so much for your review and taking the time to post.  We are happy to hear you found the unit clean and supplied with all you needed.  It is a great unit and has amazing views.  It is a wonderful resort and a great staff.  We will mention to the resort that the bar/restaurant staff was not as upbeat.  However the bar is individually by a private owner.  It is not a complaint we have ever gotten so it is not typical. We do hope you can stay again !

Great location

The end unit location was exception along with the view. We liked how you converted one side of the closet into a coffee bar area. The view is spectacular. The carpet however was significantly stained and the screen door was very difficult to open. Aside from those two repairable things the unit was perfect. less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, We are so glad to hear you found this unit at the Hanalei Bay Resort to be to your liking.   The convenient kitchenette is a nice addition.  Of course you cannot say enough about the view.  It is beyond words!   Thank you for mentioning the screen door as we will have someone take a look at it.  The carpets are scheduled for a cleaning.   This unit also just got new high end blinds installed at the slider doors that are more functionable. Thank for your business!

Hanalei bay resort # 7201

Condo worked out great definitely the best view and very private. At the bottom of a steep hill, so you will get excercize . Loved the bar, Great entertainment and food. We would stay here again. Condo had beach chairs and cooler. No umbrella or snorkel gear . Rented gear in town for $22 for the week . less

— Christine, Stayed 07/23/2016

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Christine, We are so happy to hear the condo worked well for you!  It does have amazing views and is more private because of the location.  The resort has lots of great amenities and makes this resort a special place.  We do supply the beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers for our guest's convenience.  However we do not supply the beach umbrellas as they are to often broken and the snorkels gear depends on different sizes that would not allow for us to supply.  However as you mentioned, they can be rented in town for very reasonable prices.

Perfect for 2!

The unit we rented was perfect for our return to Hanalei Bay Resort! Although it was the farthest from the parking lot, we loved the privacy and direct view of the Bay and Bali Hi!! The unit was in great condition and had everything we needed! Thanks! less

— Laura, Stayed 07/17/2016

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Laura, Thank you for the great review and taking the time to post!  Perfect is a word we like to hear from our guests and having everything you needed is what we strive for.  The views are exceptional and the location within the resort allows for more privacy than others.  There are the bell boys on site with golf carts if you do want to be driven to the unit instead of walking.  Please come again!

Very nice!

A very nice place for 1-2 people. The facility was low key and the pool was amazing. The newly remodeled bar/grill was also very nice - great place to catch a sunset, watch some sports and listen to some local live music. I liked that Hanalei Bay was a pleasant facility but not pretentious or stuffy. The staff were easy-going and friendly. The neighborhood it was in was a bit high-end for my taste (Princeville) with all the golf courses and stuff - we parked on the street for a few minutes and got notes on our car about the housing association strict rules about parking and they fined us $50. But besides that, great place to watch sunsets and walk down to the St Regis beach. The room itself was perfect for what I needed - yes it'd be nice to have a full kitchen, and the walls were thin (you could hear what was going on next door), but the view was incredible, and it had a very homey feeling. I would definitely stay again all things considered and was happy with my time there. Thank you! less

— Bradley, Stayed 06/30/2016

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Mahalo for the review!  This resort does have a very laid back atmosphere and great amenities.  We are happy you found the staff to be friendly and easy going.  This is a great unit with beautiful views and lend itself to privacy being at the end of the line of buildings.  This unit is a studio so does not have the full kitchen if that is not important to you, however I hope you found the kitchenette facilities in the room accommodating.  We do hope you will visit us again in the near future.

Very Nice

Small studio unit, perfect for two people who are out most of the day. Nice granite counter tops and shower. Balcony makes this room. Balcony has excellent view yet is private--no one else can see balcony from other rooms. Love the HBR pool and hot tub. This unit is at the bottom of a pretty steep hill, so be prepared to hike up when you need to go anywhere--parking lot, swimming pools, tennis courts, front desk, etc. Air conditioner went out but thankfully was fixed within a day. Bed is king sized but is pretty hard and difficult to sleep on. Not very fond of the Happy Talk restaurant--see Yelp reviews. Have stayed at the HBR several times--every time something is either has broken down or is under repair. Still, the price is reasonable. less

— Michael, Stayed 05/21/2016

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thank you for your review.  The view from the balcony is exceptional and does lend for lots of privacy.  The distance down to this unit is what makes it more private but if need be the bell boys can cart you down in golf carts to and from if you do not want to walk or any where on the property and to the beach.  We are sorry the air conditioner went out during your stay but as you said we got it fixed right away as we do try to expedite things as soon as possible.   The in ever unit are different with the individual owners.  Bed are one of those things that is impossible to please everyone with.  Some people have commented on how comfortable the bed is also.  Each persons needs are very different and we cannot meet them all.  The resort has ungone lots of extensive renovations in the last several years.  Although most of the work is done, as any resort, home or unit, maintenance and upgrades are ongoing.  Considering the amazing views and the beautiful resort, the pricing is very very reasonable.  We hope you can come again.

Wished We Could've Stayed Longer

The condo was very nice and clean, with a million-dollar view. The resort grounds were gorgeous. We would love to stay here again if we return to Kauai.

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thank you for your review and taking the time to post it. This unit does have a very special view that cannot be beat of the Hanalei Bay, the ocean and the surrounding mountains. The resort is pretty special and now the lounge/bar is open and adds to the amenities of this resort. Please come back and visit us soon!

Condo 7201 at Hanalei Bay

The view was spectacular you could hear the ocean while sleeping I love that but the bed was horrible sunk in the middle I was extremely uncomfortable. I would love to stay at that at that end again. We've been going there for about 20 years. We hope to be returning again next year. less

Perfectly Located, Affordable Condo near Hanalei Bay

I could not say enough great things about Condo #7201 at the Hanalei Bay Resort! Upon arrival to the resort a greeter directed us to the front desk. The front desk attendant told my husband and I about events happening at the resort, handed us pool towels, and gave us a brochure about the cost for tennis lessons and other activities; she then called someone in a go-cart to collect our bags and to drive us around the resort grounds. We felt pampered! Although cars have to park in a large parking lot (making the walk down to our building somewhat far), the resort provides free go-cart transportation from the rooms to the parking lot or to the beach shared with the St. Regis. My husband and I did not use the golf carts, instead choosing to walk up the big hill to the pool and parking lot, but it's nice that this service is available for people who are older or disabled. The condo itself is wonderful. The bed was comfy, the TV pulls out from the wall (so it's not an eyesore when you're not watching TV), and the mini fridge was all we really needed since we grabbed our meals on the go for our entire trip. The bathroom was also updated and has a nice walk-in shower that can accommodate 2 people (although there's only 1 shower head.) The view from the condo's patio is exceptional; you can see the bay and the Ko'olau Mountain range sitting outside. My husband and I spent our nights looking out at the mountains and saw a paper lantern pass along the range; it was magical watching what looked like a "fairy light" ascending and lighting up a mountain. Also, very few people walk on the path outside of the condo so we had privacy even while sitting outside. On top of everything else, the whole atmosphere of Hanalei Bay is great. The greeter who was at the gate when we arrived remembered us and said hello everyday. The other guests were friendly and said hello whenever we walked by. There are also endangered nene geese that walk along the grounds (and albatross nearby which are astoundingly large!) At any rate, Hanalei Bay is a lovely place and it was significantly nicer than another condo complex I stayed at in Princeville a few months earlier. Just don't bring young kids to this resort; it's a quiet place and encourages people to relax. less

Aloha, Thank you for the wonderful review. The Hanalei Bay Resort is a special place with 22 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and we are glad you found it to be very serene. As you mentioned the views and the lanai-time are exceptional and are what memories are made of. Thank you for comment on the staff and how friendly you found them to be. We hope that on your next trip to paradise, you will allow us to once again accommodate you. Mahalo for your business.

If you are going to Hawaii you should book your trip with Kristin and Gram Greene with Aloha Condos.

I booked a week on Kauai through AlohaCondos.com to stay at Hanalei Bay Resort in August 2014. Hurricanes rarely hit Hawaii but the day we were leaving NY to fly to Hawaii there was a hurricane rolling in. Hanalei Bay resort did not reach out to us, but we were pleasantly surprised and impressed with Krisitn and Gram's emails to give us suggestions as to which roads to avoid, which stores had supplies of water, how to get to Walmart, safety information about bridges that close in increment weather, and how to stay safe in our room (like recommending we bring in deck furniture with the heavy winds). We heeded and were grateful for all of Kristin and Gram's safe advice. Upon arrival to our room, we found a welcome bag from Kristin and Gram with helpful brochures, coffee, gourment chocolates and canvas bag which wound up being very useful. The unit was clean and freshly renovated. The view was spectacular. I picked this unit for the view and you can't beat the price! It is a corner unit and nothing obstructs the view. It faces the mountains and the ocean. It was simply breathtaking. You could wake up and see the view from the bed. The unit comes with a microwave, mini fridge and boogie boards and beach chairs. The only slightly bad thing was there wasn't a kitchen sink so if you want to wash a kitchen item you'd have to use the sink in the bathroom. If this is an issue for you though then just buy plastic ware and plates because the unit was spectacular in every other way. Gram not only kept us safe with the hurricane with his tips but he is the friendliest man I've ever dealt with when booking a vacation. Many resort people in hawaii are trying to sell you trips and adventures and so they are nice but Gram took the time to give me tips and advice before and during my stay and he had no personal vestment at that point. He just wants to make sure you have the best vacation you can. For example, he told us that if you get to Waimea Canyon after I think it was 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning, the whole canyon is covered by a blanket of clouds and you won't be able to see the canyon. This is something that my guide books did not mention. Along with Gram's travel tips, we relied heavily on the Kauai Revealed Book App which is a must download! The staff at Hanalei Bay Resort were warm and friendly. The service was top knotch. They give you rides in their golf carts to the beach! The resort was top notch. The pool was amazing, it was salt water and the hot tub was set in a rainforest like setting. We had an amazing time thanks to the help of Krisitin and Gram and the wonderful Hanalei Bay Resort. less

We hope that you will come again and allow us to accommodate you in your next stay in paradise.

Perfect location STUNNING views of Hanalei and Ocean!!

Staff here was definitely 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful, positive vibe and easy to work with. The room was perfect had everything we needed for a one night stay, I feel as though if we were staying longer it would have been nice to have a real kitchenette not just a microwave, but to each their own. Balcony directly overlooked the Hanalei Bay (which was breathtaking) and shares the same beachfront as the St Regis. Great snorkel directly out into the water, and supposedly a but of surf break. less

Great value & location of condo was outstanding. Super quiet, ni

We were really happy with our choice of Hanalei Bay Resort. I was worried that it would be too dated but found it to be similar in appearance to the neighboring St. Regis. Everything in the area is around the same age/style. I thought this corner unit had a great view, it was super quiet and the kitchenette managed to pack a lot of items in it. *(one issue is that you will have to wash dishes in the bathroom sink) but for simple snacks, drinking wine, toasting bagels the kitchenette works great. There is no fitness center at the resort which is disappointing but the concierge and front desk staff were extremely helpful. Be sure and have dinner in Hanalei at Bar acuda, it's outstanding (make a reservation). We had a rain out and had to leave Kauai early so we never found out how we would have rented beach chairs. I only saw the St. Regis chairs but assume you would have to bring your own down to the beach. It's a nice walk down a paved path but carrying a lot of items would be a pain. I would check into this if staying in this unit and wanting to be on the beach all day. The unit did have a really nice insulated bag for getting groceries or doubling as a beach bag. less

Beautiful view, no frills

We spent our honeymoon in Kauai and split our time 50/50 between the north and south shores. On the north shore we stayed in Hanalei Bay Resort Condo 7201, and it was exactly what we expected based on the pictures online. The view is amazing and the location within the resort is wonderful because you are tucked away in a quiet corner. On the negative side, I would describe the room as tidy, but not necessarily fresh or pampered. The carpet is a bit old/musty, and the bedding/towels had some bleach stains from washing. That said, we loved our stay! less

Beautiful location on property

I loved the condo as it had the perfect view of the sunrise and sunset each morning. The location of the condo was private as it was a corner unit and there were no buildings infront of us. Considering there was no full kitchen we had all the essential kitchen supplies to make us breakfast or to warm something up for a simple meal to be enjoyed on the lanai. My only recommendation is to have tile or industrial carpet down on the entrance, somewhere to put our shoes. I have stayed at the hanalei bay before but this condo was much nicer with the beautiful countertops and newer TV. less

— Hawaii Traveller, Stayed 01/21/2014

Hidden gem

The views from the condo are amazing. It has a lot of privacy as pretty much no other condo can look into this deck. The condo itself has newer furniture and quite a comfortable bed. ... I saw some reviews of people complaining about the distance to the parking area. Yes, it is a walk but it is a short walk for G sake! If you come to Kauai and complaint about physical activity, you shouldn't even come to Kauai. :) less

Amazing room on the most amazing of the Hawaiian islands..

Great little room for a couple wanting to explore kauai and in particular the north shore. Perfect location, walk down to hanalei bay and if you can't be bothered taking the stroll the golf buggy will pick you up and drop you off! We may have been lucky with weather but we're able to snorkel, swim and fish right at the foot of the resort. Resort staff all friendly and helpful and treated just the same as those who book direct with the resort. This room has an amazing view out to the bay as well as over the property grounds and out to the mountains. We explored Kauai high and low and everything was super easy and accessible as long as you have a hire car. The only food choices within easy walking distance is the st regis (beautiful but pricey). The little kitchenette is workable for small easy meals as long as you are careful as the area is carpeted and the only sink is in the bathroom. Would definitely recommend the location and the room in particular. less

What a view

We were very impressed with our resort condo at Hanalei Bay Resort, it had everything that you need to makea trip memorable. The condo was in a great location, with views of the bay and mountains and was very quiet being down the end of the resort. Perfect for couples, the condo was incredible clean and tidy on arrival and had everything you needed to make our stay wonderful especially the beach chairs, made life on the beach so much easier. This little condo holds a special place in our hearts from our holiday as it felt like home, we didnt want to leave. Mikki less

It was a very relaxing holiday

This was our first time at the Hanalei Bay Resort. Once we were settled in it was great. The view from our room was gorgeous. For two people this room was perfect. I would have loved to have had cross ventilation. Many of the other rooms had slats in the door to let the breeze flow through. Our room got a little stuffy in the afternoon. Other than that our room was perfect. less

Very nice bachelor pad for 10 weeks by myself, mid-Jan thru earl

Comfortable king-size bed, nice views, adequate butler's pantry, with nearby access to real stove and barbque. Wonderful large landscaped horseshoe-shaped pool at higher level near entry to Hanalei Bay Resort, curved "length" about 300ft, bordering nice hot pool (much larger than usual hot tub). Eight tennis courts at four different levels on the 23-acre site, which is on a hill that slopes down to the Bay and has a perfect Bali Hai view toward the sunset. less

Great stay on the Garden Island

My wife and I stayed for 9 days and we really enjoyed it. The cost of the unit was very low, but the view was incredible. We would sleep with the sliding door open so we could hear the waves crashing all night... very nice. The unit has a very small kitchenette area that has a microwave, toaster and fridge. The only sink is in the bathroom. It worked well for us, but it is definitely not a full kitchen. There are nice barbeques out by the pool. This place definitely gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I would only do this unit for 2 people. You can rent the attached unit for an additional 4 people, and we are hoping to come back and do that sometime. less

Fabulous time at the Hanalei Bay Resort!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Condo 7201. The grounds were well kept and clean. The main pool is awesome, clean and warm. However, there is no lifeguard. I was happy that there was a washer and dryer available for us to use. Remember to collect quarters if you plan to use it. It cost $3.00 (I think?). There is also left over detergent under the condo sink so no need to buy it! There are also recycling bins in the laundry area. I was told there may or may not be a kettle in the unit but there is. The condo itself was clean. We were very happy with its location and the cleanliness. The kitchenette is stocked with enough plates and utensils. They also provide a new dish sponge and liquid. Perhaps we use more toilet paper than others but we ran out of toilet paper the very last night and had to resort to using tissue. It would be great if the owners left more toilet paper under the sink. I called the front desk and they don't provide anything for you. This condo was far from the front desk but be sure to use the free shuttle service. We thought we had to pay so the first day we carried our luggage... big mistake! One inconvenience was there is no wifi access. You have to go to the main lobby to use the internet. It wasn't so bad, it was nice to be disconnected for a while! This resort is a gem! It's right next to the St. Regis Hotel. The "Hideaway Beach" was so beautiful and calm. We were happy to spend a lot of time there. The water is not clear and blue though- and the sand is not white so don't expect that. However, water is so warm and the atmosphere is relaxing! The people were very friendly. The location of this resort is perfect. Princeville and Hanalei Bay are exceptional and we had a wonderful stay. Princeville is a 2 minute drive, and very close to Foodland where we went quite often to pick up snacks and lunch. Watch "The Descendents" and you'll recognize all parts of Hanalei Bay and Princeville! less

Once again 7201 provided us a great vacation.

We returned to 7201 two years after our first visit and once again enjoyed staying in the unit. The views and privacy are the main reasons we choose this unit. Everything was clean and in order. The welcome bag with DVD and chocolates was much appreciated. Only a couple things make this less than absolutely perfect. The butler's pantry makes meal preparation and clean up a little tricky and again we had some noise coming through the common door to the unit next door, but nothing ear plugs and aC can't fix. Seems most people in Hawaii go to bed rather early anyway. I would highly recommend this unit to all my friends and family and hope to return again. Kauai is my favorite island and the northshore in particular, in the summer anyway. less

Great Location & View

We spent a lovely week in Condo 7201 having come from australia. The views are better than the photos and plenty of room on the lanai to gaze out amongst the green and out to the water. The room and amenity was great for a couple and while there are limitations with the cooking facilities, we managed well on the supplies from Foodland in Princeville. Being at one end of the resort and on the corner, it was private and quiet apart from hearing the chairs scraping on the floors above. being fit we never called for the golf cart to get us up the hill and it is not that hard anyway. The pool is lovely, great views and the walk to the St Regis shared beach good exercise on the way back up the hill. The grounds are lush and maintained and we found the staff friendly. As we had a car, it was a great base for all our trips around the island. We loved Hanalei Bay. It's a pity the bar/resturant is still a shell as it would really make the resort complete. With regard to the condo, the arrival package of a Kuaii DVD and chocolates was a nice touch. The condo itself was well equipped and the king size bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. less

Great stay

We stayed here for 4 nights in March 2012. The room was really spacious and had a great ocean view. I highly recommend this room for people that want to stay at Hanalei Bay who are on a budget and want a resort style room. After seeing the other resorts, like St Regis which is amazing, I'd still stay at Hanalei Bay Resort as it's far better value for money. I'd probably stay in a room with a kitchen next time but if I was staying for longer or intended to cook. The only cons: - Only very small kitchenette but all new. Had microwave, toaster/oven and bar fridge. Washing dishes had to be done in the bathroom. We only had breakfast in the room so this wasn't a real issue. - It's probably the furthest room from the reception which is quite a steep walk for half of it. We didn't mind but this could be a problem for some. You can organise a buggy to pick up you however free of charge and they are quite prompt. - The resort pool and spa were really good. It's a shame there is no bar or restaurant. I think these were damaged in the big fire some time ago and looks they aren't in a big rush replacing them. less

A nice getaway to Princeville

My husband, 9month old and I had a wonderful stay at unit 7201. The unit was small but clean, quiet and had amazing views. You wont find a better deal on kauai for the value of this condo. Everyone who worked there was very helpful and your just steps to Hanalei Bay! less

Gorgeous view & location!

The end unit studio was perfect for us. We loved looking out to the picturesque views of the ocean & mountain. Just wished the restaurant was open so we didn't have to drive to a restaurant to eat.

Beautiful view with sounds of the waves

The room was excellent. It had everything it needed down to insect spray, beach chairs and Tupperware containers. As I read previously in another review a guest thought that the mattress was too soft and my back was hurting as well. But I am coming spoiled from a tempurpedic mattress at home. I own a cleaning service and am particular about cleaning. The room was in great shape. A little dust behind the night tables and the bath tub could have used some soapscum remover. There was a door that separated the apartment or room next to 7201 that had no lock in it. One night when we where watching tv we noticed that the neighbors walked in but then quickly backed up. I pointed it out to the resort and I am sure it was fixed already. We loved using the jacuzzi at night to relax and meet up with other guests. Overall everything was absolutely great and I would book the same room again. Thank you!! It was beautiful to open the big sliding door and listen to the waves crashing while falling asleep. In the morning we could enjoy the sunrise to the left over Hanalei bay while having breakfast. less

Owner/Manager Response

We are delighted you enjoyed unit 7201. Every adjoining unit has two doors that close against one another. The door on your side has a doorknob only on your side, so once closed no one can open it from the other side. The same is true for the door that closes against it but opens from the adjoining unit. I believe the door on your own side was open as the other guests would not have been able to open it. In future please rest assured you can close the door on your own side and others will not have access to your unit.

Great Place!

Great place, very quiet end unit with a great view. So much better than a hotel room. Staff at Hanalei Bay Resort, were pleasant, and very helpful. Unit was clean, grounds were clean. Still rebuilding from the fire, but there are so many other places to dine nearby. I would recommend this to family and friends. Thank you aloha Condos! less

If you want a place that is quiet, with a nice view, this is a g

I knew what I wanted when I booked this unit. I wanted one that was close to the main pool, but not near the center of the complex. I also wanted a view similar to the unit I book when I use my annual timeshare. This unit was perfect, especially since I don't mind a bit of an uphill walk. I was disappointed to find that the main pool was closed through the duration of our stay. That is one of my favorite things about HBR. We were hoping that It would be ready before we departed, but it wasn't scheduled to be completed until ten days after our departure. The galley was more than adequate, and being close to the small pool and barbeques was a real plus. The home was very nicely furnished, and was a great place to hang out, with my son. less

relaxing

nice, quiet, lovely view, clean, liked the access to the beach area. Would go back especially when the restaurant is finished

Amazing view & location

The room itself is just as described - nothing more, nothing less. Which is why it's such a great deal. It's comfortable with a fantastic location, amazing view at a reasonable nightly fee. The decor in the room is a bit dated though the addition of the butler's pantry was definitely a useful (and attractive) add. My only qualm with the resort/ room is that they do seem to nickle and dime you for what you would typically expect to be included in the fee (e.g., a key for the in-room safe). But that said, the resort is nice and so are the staff. I would definitely recommend this condo and resort. less

Hbr 7201 was a good deal and perfect for our needs

Hbr 7201 is a small condo with only a 'butler's pantry' instead of a full kitchen. We did not expect much, but were pleasantly surprised. The fridge has a small freezer which was perfect for our ice pack. In addition to the microwave and coffee maker, which we expected, there is a toaster oven and a kettle. Dishes were adequate although bigger coffee cups would have been nice. Paper towels, napkins, salt and pepper, rubbermaid containers, foil, a cutting board and a dozen hangers were unexpected extras nice to have. King size bed was comfortable but a bit on the soft side for my taste. Furniture was in good shape, and the decor was ok. The resort has barbecues and a sink, counter and stove (but no dishes or pots and pans) in the small pool area which was near the condo, so we had dinner in a couple of times. Bbq worked well. We thought the condo, although small, made very good use of the space available. The lanai is completely covered so unless there was a downpour we had our meals outside. There is a marsh next door so the no-see-ums were a bit of a nuisance in the evenings that had no breeze. The condo is pretty far from the lobby and parking lot but we didn't mind the walk and it was very quiet at that end. Views of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai were lovely. I would have liked it if they had changed our towels mid-week and provided an extra tea towel. Overall though, a very nice stay and we didn't spend much time in the room. Excellent value for the money we paid. less

Nice place!

I booked this unit online and had a hard time deciding between this or a larger full condo (such as 7202). For the difference in price I found this to a be a great place: The view from the unit is good (nice view of the ocean and surrounding mountains) and you can hear the ocean. The additional side window and privacy that this end unit has is a real bonus compared to other similar priced units. This 'studio' style unit (think of it as a master suite, not really a studio condo) was simple but had all we needed for a three night stay and we could have easily stayed longer. I found that the lack of a real kitchen wasn't much of a problem--the fridge and microwave did the job and there are enough dishes/utensiles. The bathroom sink worked just fine for washing them. To sum it up: Good: Ocean and mountain views Nice pool, great hot tub Sandy beach access Not crowded at all (Feb 4-7). We pretty much had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. Overall condo condition is good--real nice bed, tv, kitchenette area, etc. Room for improvement: The restaurant and bar are both closed (but they do have a BBQ during lunch hours at the pool) Porch furniture is a little worn out Red carpet is a little weird for me (but it was in nice condition) No bluray player (I happened to have some netflix blurays in my luggage) but there is a DVD player and a nice TV that folds out from the wall. The additional fees (room cleaning fee, resort fee, taxes) add significantly to the cost. I put in 3 star for service, only because the hefty cleaning fee only covers a 'move out' cleaning. So you are on your own for taking out the trash, cleaning dishes, making the bed, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful though. less

Nice Place, Great View, Wonderful time

The view is fantastic and the condo is just perfect for a couple that will be mostly dining out. The frig is small but good for soda and snacks. The bed is very comfortable and the tv is very nice to watch from the table or the bed.The climb to the parking lot is kind of rough at first but not bad after a few trips. If it remains a rough hike then call for a golf cart which usually arrive in short time so no real long waits. That is unless it is a day of checkouts and check ins. But very happy with the service over all. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are informative and eager to help. We had a lovely time. If you have any questions call Kristen Greene she is very responsive and quick to help. Aloha Trent less

Wonderful views and privacy.

We chose 7201 for the location within the complex and the views. We were not disappointed. It was very quiet and people rarely walked by our lanai. It was very private at that end of the complex. No other lanais within view of ours. We had sunset views, mountain and ocean views. The gardens around our condo were very lush and green. We loved watching the birds come out in the morning. We were provided two new beach chairs. Check in was very easy and we were immediately taken to our room via golf cart with all our groceries and luggage. Whenever we called for a cart they were very speedy and friendly. The air conditioner worked well. Downsides included only a butler's kitchen. Although it had plates, bowls, knives, silverware and storage containers, if you want to eat meals in the room you must be a bit creative and not mind washing dishes in the bathroom sink. On a couple of occasions we had some noise coming through the door connecting the adjoining room, but it wasn't bad. We didn't mind the walk across the complex to get to the room or the beach, but someone who has any trouble walking a distance and any incline would find it difficult and would probably need to call for a cart each time they left or returned to the room. We found it great for several small work outs a day. All in all a nice condo in a great location on the northshore of Kauai. We would return, but might opt for the unit next door with the full kitchen. less

Nice stay in Princeville for 5 nights!

Decent stay in Princeville for 5 nights! I think it's a good value, and what you see in the room pictures/description here is what you get. No surprises here. One thing to note about this room is that it is about the size of a large hotel room with a small terrace. It is really just 1 room (no living room and kitchen). The coffee/dining table and TV is about 10 feet from the bed. There is a fridge, microwave, and utensils in a little nook by the bathroom, but the space is small, so don't expect it to be bigger than what you see in the pictures... Unless you also rented 7202 which has an adjoining room door. We didn't mind the adjoining door, but I imagine this might be annoying if you had a loud neighbor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! It wasn't the best in the world, but it's definitely a good value. :) less
