This condo is conveniently located floor level unit with a nice water view. Although the location is good because of it's proximity to the barbeque and pool it's also one of it's drawbacks. The pool area is very noisy with screaming kids in the afternoons. Fortunately the noise abates when the pool closes at sunset. Having another condo on the top floor was not an issue until the locals moved in for the weekend. It appears that multiple local families share the rental of Kanaloa units for the weekend. Lots of noise due to kids running around and adults partying on the lanai. The noise did diminish around the 10:00 pm quiet time. Security is non existent in the evening so we were on our own in asking folks if they could hold down the noise. The king bed was comfortable. The headboard was large and cumbersome. The kitchen was nicely equipped with coffee grinder, rice cooker and the usual bad pans. Paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent were provided. The stacked washer and dryer worked well. A note was left explaining why the master shower did not work and the lanai doors did not lock. We had to use the second shower and bathroom and put sticks in the sliding door channel to lock the lanai. The indoor fans and the lanai fan worked well but the light was out on the lanai fan. The lanai is very nice with a view of the pool and the ocean but privacy is an issue as the main path to and from the pool runs directly in front and along side. The WiFi worked well. There are a lot of good things about this unit but there are more quiet and private locations in the Kanaloa condo complex.
Manager response:
Thank you for submitting a review for our condo, and were glad you enjoyed the location and view. We appreciate your feedback and it does make a difference to us.

The maintenance items you mentioned have either been addressed or are being addressed. We are awaiting arrival of a part for the sliding door and our temporary locking device will keep our guests secure in the interim.

During your visit we had a lot of younger guests on property visiting for a soccer tournament; hence the pool was likely more occupied than usual. The pool closes at 6 PM. Kanaloa security is available 24/7 and we have emergency and local contact numbers posted in the condo. If you choose to stay with us again (and I sincerely hope you will), please dont hesitate to phone your local contact for assistance during your visit. They are there to help and will make every effort to address any problems you may experience.
This unit had everything we wanted and more. We stayed with our two sons and they each had their own bed in a separate room, big advantage over a hotel. The master suite had a king bed, huge bathroom with separate toilet, big shower, and jacuzzi areas! Separate huge bath for the kids, plus washer/drier that worked great. Well-stocked, huge kitchen. The whole place was extremely comfortable. The lanai overlooks both the pool and ocean, very convenient. There were boogie boards, noodles, coolers etc. for us to use, even beach towels...very thoughtful. Very clean, and the owner was great, got our deposit back right away. Location is super, close to shopping, restaurants, movies, beaches, and great snorkeling spot (Kahaluu). We stayed at Kanaloa years ago and remembered a restauant and bar on the property...neither were open when we visited in Dec 2011, but it was okay since there was so much close by. Would definitely recommend this unit, and hope to stay here again next time we're on the big island. Thanks Chuck!

I have stayed at the Kanaloa Resort more than a few times at several different condos and found this to be the nicest of all. The condo may not be right on the ocean but having the ocean front pool in view actually enhanced our view. Great sunsets from lanai! The only thing that might have made our stay a little better would be if the ice maker was working.

Pros: Reservation and check-in process was very simple and convenient. Cost was very reasonable. Condo was comfortable and had all the amenities of home, view was beautiful. Room fit 5 adults and 1 child comfortably, more than enough space for all of us.
Cons: Master bedroom was smaller than expected. Second bedroom did not have a television and lighting was very poor.
Overall, the condo was great, pros definitely outweighed the cons. Would stay again without hesitation.
This is a beautiful place to stay.

Our party of four adults found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. It is certainly the nicest condo we have rented. The view of the ocean from the lanai is stunning. The sunsets were lovely and the full moon setting over the ocean in the morning was breath taking. The location is quiet and convenient with shopping just a few blocks away. It was also close to the Fairwinds snorkeling excursion dock.

Condo 2601 provided us with a luxury vacation with all the amenities, a wonderful view, a relaxing lanai, easy location and covered parking. Located just south of Kailua-Kona, it allowed us access to all the beach fun, open air public markets for our veggies and fruit, etc. without the craziness that is found when stuck in the middle of the city. Rebooking another stay here is a must.

This is a surprisingly spacious and comfortable 2 bd condominium centrally located just south of Kona. This property has been updated; the rooms are large (including 2 large bath rooms), and there is ample storage including walk-in closets. There is a wireless internet connection. This ground-floor unit overlooks the complex pool (though it is set back aways) and also has a view of the ocean. The covered lanai is a pleasant spot for an afternoon retreat and the unit is very quiet, clean, and comfortable. We chose this unit because it was in a development that was "small" and centrally located on the west shoreline. There is a shopping center conveniently located uphill that includes a Longs and a supermarket. We loved our quiet, comfortable stay in unit 2601and we would certainly return!

This is a fantastic condo. It was much larger than expected and looks even better in person than it does in all the wonderful pictures posted up on this site. Do make note of the condo being located in a residential area with permanent residents who tend to be older. They have little tolerance for being in the common areas after sunset or for holding a conversation with your 3 friends on your lanai into the wee hours of 9:45pm on a Saturday night. All the other renters were quite friendly and talkative around the BBQ and pool. Regardless of my experience, I cannot fault the condo itself. It is a wonderful property in a convenient location. A beautiful place to watch the sunset, as well.

The condo was furnished with everything we could have needed during our short stay. It was very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable, which is not always the case. It was quiet and restful and we truly enjoyed the visit. The only negative thing we found was that some of the blinds were missing from the window/door to the Lanai. We would definitely repeat the trip if given the opportunity. Thank you

We travelled from England to Hawaii. After a week in Waikiki, we were looking forward to a quieter time on Big Island and we found it here. The location on the island was great for sightseeing all over the island. The position of the condo within the complex was perfect. We sat on the patio each morning for breakfast overlooking the pool and ocean. Everything we needed (and more) was provided in the condo including flashlights and guide books. We want to thank you very much for letting your lovely holiday home to us.
Still a great deal!

The price is affordable for the beautiful condo and amenities. We've stayed in this unit several times before and it's our favorite place to stay when we visit Kailua-Kona. We had a great stay at Condo 2601, and we'd go back again. The check-in process was easy and quick (email with clear and simple instructions). We recommend using the a/C especially if your children are used to sleeping (napping during the day) in a quiet setting. The only noise was made by grounds-keeping service (leaf blowers or some motorized equipment). The indoor slippers help (tile floor). The kitchen is well equipped with appliances, dishes, and dish washing powder, and extra trash bags (it is your responsibility to take the trash out). We recycled plastic, glass and aluminum, but were not quite sure where to take it to. The housekeeping service we ran into outside offered to take it for us.
The living room was very comfortable and had TV, VCR, DVD and cable. The drawer below the TV contains a selection of movies. The DVD in the living room won't play the foreign (non-us system) Dvds.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. There is a blow-drier, and basic cleaning supplies, and broom and a vacuum cleaner. There is some beach equipment (towels, toys for children, floating toys, coolers, beach chairs).
The wireless connection worked.
During our stay, the big disappointment was that the pool right in front of our apartment was not operating (repairs from april 2010 to ?). However, the other pool (for kids) was very near. We saw (not heard) some improvement made on the pool being repaired.
As for the beach, the little "bay" south of the condos as seen on Google Earth seems walking-distance beach accessible. The access to the beach is steep, hit by waves, and not for kids. The wonderful and safe beaches just several miles away. For the kids, the "Keiki beach" close to the public swimming complex and the old airport is nice (it is a tidal pool with sand and "pahoehoe" (smooth) lava rocks). Ask the locals for directions.
We had a great vacation and the kids called it "our home on the Big Island."

This was a wonderful condo, very spacious,
comfortable and fully stocked. We utilized the
beach chairs, cooler and the books. The location
was perfect, the quiet setting makes you feel as if
you are more remote than you actually are as
downtown Kailua Kona is just an easy drive north on
Ali'i Drive. We enjoyed many of the beaches around
the island with one of the best snorkel beaches
just minutes away. We had dinners on the lanai
while watching beautiful sunsets.
The staff were wonderful as they were all extremely
friendly and responsive to our questions.
There were a few things around the condo that
needed attention but according to the housekeeper
the owners were aware and had plans for repair.
We loved this condo and have plans to return next
year!

We were skeptical of the pictures on the internet because we had been stung before. This condo is clean and very well stocked and has really been taken care of. Be careful on what screens you open though, we ended up with a gecko visitor. The kids had a blast capturing him to release back outside! We were impressed with the view, the location is great, and you can listen to the surf as you fall asleep after watching the amazing sunset from the pool or spa tub. The grounds are clean and the staff is very helpful. This condo even has beach towels and an assortment of beach toys, boogie boards and a cooler to pack lunches in. Condo 2601 is very spacious. My husband and I were travelling with our two children aged fifteen and twelve and we all had such a great time here. If we ever get a chance to return to the Big Island of Hawaii we would definitly try to book this condo again. The very best snorkelling on the island is just down the road at the public beach, my daughter and I were surrounded by six turtles!

Very well supplied and roomy. Great location near ocean pool and barbeque. Good view, but not so close that the ocean mist covers everything. We usually get upstairs units, missed the vaulted ceilings, but not the stairs when hauling luggage.
Unit could use painting and a new master bedrooom bed and some other owner TLC. Met the housekeeper on our way out. What a nice lady! I'd stay in this unit again. I've never been disappointed by renting from Aloha Condos - and I've rented from them a few times. Kanaloa is a great condo complex.

We liked everything about this place. We did not have to deal with any front desk, just get the parking pass from the gate monitor and straight to the condo.
It felt like we were staying at our own house. Complete with everything one needs for cooking (including some required spices and oils), beach chairs, boogie boards, candles, and everything you can think of.
This place overlooks the family pool (closes at 8 pm) and you can see and hear the waves from the patio. This unit was hundreds of dollar's cheaper than the direct ocean front where you can see the sunset, but it is only a 1 minute walk from the ocean front. I think a worth trade off, especially considering how easy this place was to stay at.
If you have young ones, this place is a plus because they have some gear for toddlers (sand toys, training potty, etc.)
Enjoy the jacuzzi tub and dual heads shower in the master bath.
No complaints. A little work is needed on the sliding screen door on patio.
We loved it. Thank you.
Great condo with an ocean view and comfortable living space.

We have stayed in this community for three years now and would highly
recommend it. The condos are well kept, have W/D A/C or fans - lanais with
great views. This had had ample beach towels and tour books on HI. The
location is great, about 10 mins from 'downtown' Kona, as well as close to the
Southern region with coffee plants and coves for snorkel. Would definitely rent
this unit again.

The condo was well-cared for and had all the amenities one could wish for and more. We really enjoyed the ocean view and the quiet surrounding. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay and hope to be able to return someday.

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying at this Condo. The view is nice and the pool in front is great. It is too bad that this pool closed at 6pm. For an older Condo, it has been upgraded nicely. The master bathroom is very large and roomy, as is the bedroom. We ate all our meals at the Condo or made lunches that we took with us. There was a cooler in the closet that we used for our day trips. The shared BBQ by the pool worked well and was very nice clean every time we used it. We came at low season so using it was no problem at all. This was our first time the the Big Island and we had a great time.

Rooms and amenities were sufficient and comfortable, although I
was not very satisfied with its cleanliness, especially of floor and
kitchenwares. We were also a bit annoyed with noises came from
upper unit. I guess one of bath rooms of upper unit is located right
overhead of the bedrooms of unit 2601. Noises of showers and
toilet flush came through a ceiling were not very comfortable. I
also thought the screens placed on the windows facing lanai should
be maintained. It was very hard to handle and have a couple of
small holes.
Besides these minor issues, however, we really enjoyed our stay at
Kanaloa. It's location is very convenient and easy to access to
beaches, shopping centers, yet hidden and quiet. I can't forget
beautiful sunset we saw from the lanai. I also emphasize that all
condo staffs were very kind and helpful as well.
If I have a chance to visit Big Island again, I will definitely come
back to Kanaloa.

Enjoyed the spectacular view. We are a very active family and most of our time was spent either in or under the water. There are numerous snorkeling beaches within easy drive.
Anybody going to the Big Island must catch a bite and beer at the Kona Brewery restaurant. The best pizza (Greek) we ever ate.

We spent four nights in this unit in January 2009 and loved every
minute. The unit itself was clean and tidy, despite a couple of gecko

unbeatable. The location is close to downtown Kona but a little
removed, so it was nice and quiet. We enjoyed being right around the
corner from the grocery store so we could stock our kitchen and cook
some meals, which greatly cut down our vacation costs. I would
definitely recommend this unit, particularly for families with two kids.
One bedroom has a king (?) bed and the other has two twins.

We are fond of the Kanaloa Condominiums, especially unit 2601. It's comfortable and feels like a home away from home. The unit is very convenient to the pool, bbq grill, and the rugged coastline. The master bath is large with a double shower and in a separate room has a jacuzzi tub that helps melt away one's cares! The kitchen is easy to navigate with an extra large refrigerator and wide countertops. The lanai is spacious with a table that easily seats six. Our one and only hope is that the master king bed be replaced as it's a little uncomfortable.
