Awesome

Liked everything about it.

My wife and I, and a friend stayed at this excellent condo in January 2023. We liked everything about it. The view from the lanai is framed by palms and landscaping, looks over the Ocean pool and out to the sea. The condo is spacious,... more nicely furnished and decorated. It was spotless. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Beds are comfortable. Towels and linens, including beach towels, are high quality. You get a good vibe of hospitality from the notebook of information and tips the owner provides at the condo for guests. The owner, Mr. Toyohara, rents the condo independent of the Kanaloa at Kona administration, but everything went smooth at the office for things like getting a parking pass. You get the key from a lockbox at the condo which makes after hours arrival a non-issue. Mr. Toyohara resides in Japan. Communicating with him via text message was easy (allow for the time zone difference). He has a local agent who was easy to reach, friendly and responsive. By the way, it’s just three or four steps from ground level up to the front door. less

Awesome view, Amazing condo!

This was our 2nd trip to The Big Island and both times we stayed in 2601! The sunsets were amazing and access to the Ocean Side pool was convenient. Great condo for a family!

We stayed here for 4 nights in June and had a great stay! There were 2 adults and 1 child in our party and we had plenty of space. The condo was very clean upon arrival and we did opt to rent the AC units... more which definitely kept the unit cool when we needed it! We didn't use the kitchen a ton but it is a very well furnished kitchen. My favorite two things about this unit: the lanai and the proximity to the pool. The lanai was pretty big and looked out onto the pool and ocean. There was a table and chairs so eating al fresco was easy. We were also pleasantly surprised to find some beach chairs in the outdoor closet on the lanai. The unit is close to a grocery store and a couple of eating options. Downtown Kailua Kona is a 15 minute drive away where there are lot of restaurants and stores. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it! Mahalo! less

fabulous view

Great location. WE faced the ocean pool and the breaking waves. With a beautiful sunset very night!!. Had plenty of cooking utinsils, pots and pans and spices. Spacious rooms. It is a bit dated, but comfortable and we were only there in the evenings. Met... more some of the neighbors who come back every year so had a fun time at the pool and barbeque. My husband golfed many times at the Kona Golf Club which is quite nice and less than a mile down the road. And I did some snorkeling with Sea Quest which I could walk to. Next to the Outrigger. You do have to drive to the beaches and many are not great swimming beaches of course because of the lava but doable. Would stay here again less

Back again!

We've stayed at Kanaloa at Kona Condos 7 times and twice in this condo. We absolutely love the complex and this condo especially. The condo is fully stocked, very clean and in a wonderful location in the complex. The staff are so friendly and helpful... more and especially appreciate the groundskeepers and housekeeping. If you're not up for the beach there are 3 pools on the property. We love the neighborhood and it's an easy drive down Ali'i to all the shops and great restaurants. We can't wait to return! less

Great Condo with a wonderful view of the ocean!

This is a wonderful condo - very nicely decorated and with a fabulous Lanai that looks right out onto the ocean (across the pool). We watched the waves and the whales just sitting and relaxing on the Lanai and walked one building over to take... more incredible sunset pictures.... The air conditioning in each room is well worth the charge and we were very grateful to have it (and you can turn each room on and off separately to conserve energy), as even when it was nice out in December we found it a bit warm and muggy overnight, so that's the only time we really used it. The kitchen has literally everything you could need to cook with, including things like a rice cooker and various oils and spices, so convenient not to have to buy every little thing and we cooked most nights on the BBQ by the pool. There were no problems with the unit at all while we were there but we had phone numbers so we could easily reach someone if there was an issue. Our adult kid found the twin beds in the guest room overly hard and uncomfortable and had to rig up something to try to soften the sleeping area up a bit (ended up sleeping on the comfy couch in the living room instead), but the bed in the master bedroom was heavenly and both bathrooms were just incredible. I felt like we were in a luxury resort for a much better cost and with a kitchen to boot! Kanaloa is quite nice, though I had forgotten that it is essentially a half hour drive if you want to be "in town" for dinner or anything as it is rather far south... - however it IS super close to one of the harbors and big hotels and some great beaches, so we just did everything out of there... There's a grocery store and great restaurants just up the hill so it is a very convenient location overall and a very nice complex with three pools, tennis courts,etc. I highly recommend this unit and would definitely stay again next time I am on the Big Island - though I might consider buying a foam mattress pad from Walmart if I had adults staying in the second room..... less

The condo was very nice and clean. It had a lot of kitchen items that we used to cook. It was so nice that were was beach chairs and umbrella that we used at the beach. Also a cooler. We had two adults that were sleeping on them and there was complaints that they were hard and they had hard time sleeping on them. Konaloa Condo 2601

I have stayed in the Konaloa condos multiple times before and have always stayed in one of the units in the 2600 complex, except for one time. Obviously I like the location and amenities that the Konaloa provides. I believe the 2600 complex provides the... more best views in the entire property. You get the beautiful sunsets, ocean and ocean side pool view, which is located very close to these units. The property manager, Tom, was very easy to contact and extremely nice to work with, if an issue arose. We had a couple of issues during our stay in 2601. The first was the DVD player didn't work and Tom had a new one installed the very next day. The dishwasher also didn't work and wasn't replace until the day we were leaving. To be fair, we didn't find out about the dishwasher problem until a week into our 2 week stay and it took 6 days to get a new dishwasher installed. The maintenance dept at the condos were busy and took them several days to install the new appliance after it was delivered. The unit could have been cleaner when we arrived. We were told the housekeeper went on vacation just before our arrival. Tom contacted another housekeeping service and they came in mid-stay and did a great job at that point. Lastly, it seems on any vacation the one thing vacationers are hoping for is a comfortable bed. I would rate the beds in this unit a 5 on a 10 scale. They are VERY firm and don't expect memory foam or pillow top mattresses. All in all, most issues were taken care of quickly and the weather was great. less

Somewhat disappoi

Hello, thank you for our stay at your condo #2601. Beautiful location and grounds. Love the 3 pools and BBQs on the grounds as well. Disappointed that the BBQ right outside of your condo was not working while we were there so we had to... more walk a bit further for cooking. The sunsets from your condo during our stay of Nov 29-Dec 6 was great. Couldn't quite see the whole sunset from your lanai but we just walked to the pool to watch it. Nothing better than a Hawaiian sunset. The kitchen was well stocked however you need sharper knives. Even with the knife sharper you had there, the knives weren't great. Also, new frying pans are needed badly and it would have been great to have some plastic container storage for left over foods and being able to take food out for day trips. A bit larger cooler would also have been great. My husband and I slept in the 2nd bedroom with the twin beds pushed together. Very disappointed in the comfort of the beds. I was extremely sore after sleeping on those beds for a week and couldn't wait to leave because of that. You really need to replace those beds before we would come back. The other couple that stayed in the master bedroom also complained that the bed wasn't great. The security was extremely strict on quiet times as we were told a couple of times while just talking on your lanai to be quiet at exactly 10:00 pm. We understand quiet times and no parties however just talking outside should be allowed. For these reasons, we will only give this condo unit a 3 star. less

Amazing vacation at Kanaloa at Kona #2601

Our stay was from July 1st through July 11th 2018. We booked our vacation in Nov 2017 and we were so excited. The news media in May through June made the volcano activity on the Island very concerning and we almost cancelled. However upon arriving... more we discovered that would have been a BIG mistake. We even flew over Fissure #8 by helicopter tour and the only part of the Island affected was over in that tiny area. Air quality was better than where we live. The vacation was outstanding and the condo with the beautiful view and everything you needed. Very well stocked and air conditioning an added bonus and very much appreciated. We will definitely plan a return vacation and book this condo. Quiet facilities, very relaxing and we visited many beautiful beaches and drove all over the Island without volcano issues. Amazing View

First of all the rental process was easy and anyone we dealt with at Aloha Condos was very accommodating. The location of the condo was perfect for us. It was very nice and well maintained, and was furnished with everything we needed and then some.... more The view from the lanai was beautiful. The surroundings were beautiful as well. Our only negatives were that the living room furniture was uncomfortable. I think the sofa needs to be replaced. Also, the maid didn’t show up to clean the unit. We absolutely loved our stay here. The condo was very spacious, clean, and had amazing views of the pool area and ocean. The pictures presented show it just like it is. Good condo with noisy neighbors

This condo is in a good location, with quick access to most of the sites in and around Kona. The condo is very clean, even for a couple of "hotel snobs", and we had no issue letting our baby crawl around on the tile floors.... more The view from the patio is fantastic, and the laundry is a great feature. I do have to agree with some other reviews that mentioned the upstairs neighbors. They are ridiculous, and make an unbelievable amount of noise up until about 11 pm. It shouldn't be a problem if everyone in your party stays up late, but if you have young kids, you might want to consider another unit. less

The condo was very big, it had a lovely living room, all the furnishings required, comfortable rooms, a beautiful master bathroom, a wonderful lanai with an outrageous view of the ocean and a fun pool right outside of the condo. However, there were problems that... more needs to be fixed with the electrical fixtures, the lanai door didn't lock properly and the floors weren't cleaned very well, it had a thin film of dirt. The condo was just as it looked in the photos. Extremely clean and well appointed. The air conditioning was not working when we arrived, on a Sunday, but a technician was on site the next day and took care of the problem. Nice big lanai... more with great ocean view and sunsets, very clean, and well appointed. Plenty of cooking pans, utensils,plates, and glass ware. There was snorkeling gear, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. for use by the guests. Comfortable stay

This was our second stay in this fabulous ground floor condo and this time we brought our 2 twenty something sons with us...perfect, and we enjoyed spending time on the lanai overlooking the pool and ocean. Kitchen is spacious and well supplied, beds are comfortable,... more and we used some of the beach supplies (cooler, wave walkers, hats, towels, chairs, snorkel gear). We enjoyed playing ping pong over at the main office/pool area. Only one caveat: this is normally a quiet location yet this time there was a large family (5 or 6 kids, 3 adults)staying in the unit above us so there was lots of noise. They did nothing wrong but just beware that this is condo living and while we've had 3 stays at Kanaloa and 2 of them were uber quiet, this one was a bit different. While you're here, walk around the corner and down to the cove at the end of Kamehameha III and rent sea kayaks from Ocean Safaris--also they do a less expensive night manta ray snorkel adventure which we enjoyed. We won't stay anywhere else when we travel to the Big Island! less

A great way to experience paradise!

Our stay in this condo was one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed breakfasts on the large lanai watching the ocean for whales and dolphins (we spotted both). We really enjoyed the openness of this condo. We had a lot of space to... more relax while having all the comforts of home. The full size washer and dryer were great for washing our swimsuits after a day on the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals or just grab a snack. The central aC allowed for a comfortable nights sleep. There were beach chairs, mats, boogie boards, umbrella and a cooler which allowed us to go to the beach equipped like a local. We really enjoyed the location of Kanaloa. The ocean front location provided amazing views. We liked being on a dead-end residential street... very quiet. There is a shopping complex a short drive away if you need to pick-up anything and the Sheraton is just across the bay. The conveniences of Kailua-Kona are only a short drive away. The Kanaloa grounds were beautifully maintained. There were a few maintenance issues that didn't affect our stay and we received a quick response when we reported them. We found all the beds uncomfortably hard (our one disappointment). The unit is not brand new so some areas show their age (stove, blinds) but the unit is well maintained and on par with a Sheraton or Hilton on the island. The tile floor throughout the unit allowed us to easily clean any sand that we brought in with us. We would definitely like to stay here again on our next trip to Hawaii. less

This choice was absolutely perfect! I was on the island for a board meeting and wanted to move from the resort to a condo. This was a great condo in a wonderful place just outside of Kona. Although the cleaning fee was more than some,... more I figured that averaged over the stay, it was still a good value. I was right! The condo was immaculate. It had everything we needed. A pleasant surprise were the beach chairs and cooler in the closet. There were only 2 of us and this was a 2 bedroom but I figured it was such a good value, why not go for it. Turned out to be a great decision. I would recommend this unit highly and if ever back in the Kona area, will definitely stay there. We had excellent service and it couldn't have been a better experience. Sandy beaches nearby even! less

I would rent this condo over and over again!!!

Fantastic! We spent 3 wonderful nights in this spacious, well appointed condo, everything we needed was under hand, the beds were sooo comfortable, the beautiful music of the birds every morning, the awesome sound of the very close surf crashing in, the utter quietness otherwise;... more the geckos come and warm up in the morning sun right outside your front door, which we all loved! The place was so conveniently located, not too far from everything but remote enough to be quiet and peaceful; the pools were fun for the kids, we didn't get a chance to play tennis but wish we had, and we were surprised by a ping pong table by the main pool which provided some extra fun while there. The condo itself had a few things that we're not working or in need of repair, but the owners were aware of some already and had left us a note about it, and as for the few other things going on, like the water dispenser not working from the refrigerator, it really didn't matter at all to us. We did still advised our contact there about it, who was very friendly. We stayed at 3 different places during our stay on the Big Island, and this one was our favorite on the west side, it really felt like home. There were beautiful flowering trees and bushes everywhere too. Overall, wonderful resort and condo. Renting and checking in were a breeze too. The instructions we were given were spot on and easy to follow. There was also someone on site with the resort, helping with organized activities, tours, etc...we were able to find the cheapest night snorkeling/kayaking with manta rays group and they were awesome, best experience of our whole stay! A little slice of heaven

Unit 2601 was clean, spacious and more than we expected. We loved the view from the lanai sipping our 100% Kona coffee and listening to the waves crash against the lava rocks. Beautiful Tropical Ocean View

The complex is located at the southern end of alii Drive which is just a few miles from the historic Kailua Village section at the northern end. Less than half mile away is the launch site for the Fairwinds snorkel cruise. All three of the... more pools were terrific - the pool by this unit closed at 6 pm while the main pool just a short walk away remained open until 10 pm. The tennis courts looked to be in great shape though we didn't use them. The lanai view from this downstairs unit is pure Hawaiian paradise with a perfect view of the sunset every night. The unit was comfortable and the grounds quiet and very well maintained. The broken ice maker and a shower handle had not been repaired by the time we arrived (life happens) but a case of spring water and bagged ice were provided - there was no inconvenience to us at all. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars was because the guests staying in the unit above us had 3 young children who seemed to run non-stop back and forth from early morning to late at night (particularly annoying at bedtime.) Regardless, I would definitely stay in this unit again thinking the odds of a repeat of guests above with several young children with unlimited energy are slim. less

Relaxing

Convenient condo with an ocean view and some issues.

This condo is conveniently located floor level unit with a nice water view. Although the location is good because of it's proximity to the barbeque and pool it's also one of it's drawbacks. The pool area is very noisy with screaming kids in the afternoons.... more Fortunately the noise abates when the pool closes at sunset. Having another condo on the top floor was not an issue until the locals moved in for the weekend. It appears that multiple local families share the rental of Kanaloa units for the weekend. Lots of noise due to kids running around and adults partying on the lanai. The noise did diminish around the 10:00 pm quiet time. Security is non existent in the evening so we were on our own in asking folks if they could hold down the noise. The king bed was comfortable. The headboard was large and cumbersome. The kitchen was nicely equipped with coffee grinder,rice cooker and the usual bad pans. Paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent were provided. The stacked washer and dryer worked well. A note was left explaining why the master shower did not work and the lanai doors did not lock. We had to use the second shower and bathroom and put sticks in the sliding door channel to lock the lanai. The indoor fans and the lanai fan worked well but the light was out on the lanai fan. The lanai is very nice with a view of the pool and the ocean but privacy is an issue as the main path to and from the pool runs directly in front and along side. The WiFi worked well. There are a lot of good things about this unit but there are more quiet and private locations in the Kanaloa condo complex. less

Beautiful condo

This unit had everything we wanted and more. We stayed with our two sons and they each had their own bed in a separate room, big advantage over a hotel. The master suite had a king bed, huge bathroom with separate toilet, big shower, and... more jacuzzi areas! Separate huge bath for the kids, plus washer/drier that worked great. Well-stocked, huge kitchen. The whole place was extremely comfortable. The lanai overlooks both the pool and ocean, very convenient. There were boogie boards, noodles, coolers etc. for us to use, even beach towels...very thoughtful. Very clean, and the owner was great, got our deposit back right away. Location is super, close to shopping, restaurants, movies, beaches, and great snorkeling spot (Kahaluu). We stayed at Kanaloa years ago and remembered a restauant and bar on the property...neither were open when we visited in Dec 2011, but it was okay since there was so much close by. This is a surprisingly spacious and comfortable 2 bd condominium centrally located just south of Kona. This is a fantastic condo. It was much larger than expected and looks even better in person than it does in all the wonderful pictures posted up on this site. Do make note of the condo being located in a residential area with permanent residents... more who tend to be older. They have little tolerance for being in the common areas after sunset or for holding a conversation with your 3 friends on your lanai into the wee hours of 9:45pm on a Saturday night. Recommended for a family with young children (and others)

We had a great stay at Condo 2601, and we'd go back again. The check-in process was easy and quick (email with clear and simple instructions). We recommend using the a/C especially if your children are used to sleeping (napping during the day) in a... more quiet setting. The only noise was made by grounds-keeping service (leaf blowers or some motorized equipment). The indoor slippers help (tile floor). The kitchen is well equipped with appliances, dishes, and dish washing powder, and extra trash bags (it is your responsibility to take the trash out). We recycled plastic, glass and aluminum, but were not quite sure where to take it to. The housekeeping service we ran into outside offered to take it for us. The living room was very comfortable and had TV, VCR, DVD and cable. The drawer below the TV contains a selection of movies. The DVD in the living room won't play the foreign (non-us system) Dvds. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. There is a blow-drier, and basic cleaning supplies, and broom and a vacuum cleaner. There is some beach equipment (towels, toys for children, floating toys, coolers, beach chairs). The wireless connection worked. During our stay, the big disappointment was that the pool right in front of our apartment was not operating (repairs from april 2010 to ?). However, the other pool (for kids) was very near. We saw (not heard) some improvement made on the pool being repaired. As for the beach, the little "bay" south of the condos as seen on Google Earth seems walking-distance beach accessible. The access to the beach is steep, hit by waves, and not for kids. The wonderful and safe beaches just several miles away. For the kids, the "Keiki beach" close to the public swimming complex and the old airport is nice (it is a tidal pool with sand and "pahoehoe" (smooth) lava rocks). Ask the locals for directions. We had a great vacation and the kids called it "our home on the Big Island." less

Home away from home

This was a wonderful condo, very spacious, comfortable and fully stocked. We utilized the beach chairs, cooler and the books. Perfect in paradise!

We were skeptical of the pictures on the internet because we had been stung before. This condo is clean and very well stocked and has really been taken care of. Be careful on what screens you open though, we ended up with a gecko visitor.... more The kids had a blast capturing him to release back outside! felt like home except it was paradise

We liked everything about this place. We did not have to deal with any front desk, just get the parking pass from the gate monitor and straight to the condo. It felt like we were staying at our own house. Complete with everything one needs... more for cooking (including some required spices and oils), beach chairs, boogie boards, candles, and everything you can think of. This place overlooks the family pool (closes at 8 pm) and you can see and hear the waves from the patio. This unit was hundreds of dollar's cheaper than the direct ocean front where you can see the sunset, but it is only a 1 minute walk from the ocean front. I think a worth trade off, especially considering how easy this place was to stay at. If you have young ones, this place is a plus because they have some gear for toddlers (sand toys, training potty, etc.) Enjoy the jacuzzi tub and dual heads shower in the master bath. No complaints. Very Comfortable. Beautiful Sunset

Rooms and amenities were sufficient and comfortable, although I was not very satisfied with its cleanliness, especially of floor and kitchenwares. Noises of showers and toilet flush came through a ceiling were not very comfortable. I also thought the screens placed on the windows facing lanai should be maintained. We spent four nights in this unit in January 2009 and loved every minute. Gorgeous Location and Spectacular Views
