Considering that we spent an additional fifty bucks one night earlier at an airport hotel that promised much but delivered little, there was a collective, audible sigh of relief as we first entered 992.Clean hardwood floors and an immediate and expansive view of the marina and the ocean greeted us. The kids were impressed with the chocolate kisses left on the bed for us - a very large, comfortable bed one should add. The wall mirrors seemed to amplify the space and doubled the splendor of the view. The furnishings were simple, elegant and comfortable. The Ilikai Marina as others have noted is somewhat dated however everything functions well and the staff we met were friendly and helpful. To be fair I should mention that the lanai is indeed very small - it would probably seat four medium sized pigeons quite comfortably -however it almost seems churlish to point this out given that our overall experience here was so positive. The location is excellent and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. In fact I would return here without question...someone invite me please ;-) Aloha.

Aloha! Condo 992 was a great home away from home for our stay in Waikiki. Very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated with views of the boat harbor, Ala Moana park, beach and gorgeous sunsets. We enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai each morning and watching the sun go down in the evenings. It was nice surprise to find the beach chairs and cooler bag which we used everyday while swimming and snorkeling. Nightly strolls on the beach were a must since it is so close. Convenient location to shopping and restaurants. This was our 2nd time staying at the Ilikai Marina and we wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else. Already thinking about next years vacation and hoping that we will be able to reserve this condo again. Mahalo!

This condo was perfect for our stay in Honolulu! It has wonderful views, very spacious, full kitchen, beach towels and toys and chairs. It is a little bit dated, but we didn't mind one bit and fulfilled all of our needs. It is walking distance to everything (beautiful beaches, restaurants, nightlife, markets, etc), But if you need a cab they were usually located right outside. We would definitely recommend this condo and would love to stay there again in the future!

Our family enjoyed our stay in condo #992. The view is spectacular and we had a great spot to watch the neighboring Hilton Hawaiian's Friday night fireworks - and got a special treat to the July 4 ala Moana fireworks (it was like the show was just for us)! The kitchen was roomy and had all the essentials we needed. We would have liked having a dishwasher. Our children found the pull-out bed comfortable but linens a bit worn. The bathroom was fine but a little dirty & dated. We especially appreciated the beach toys, etc. These condos are very much lived in, so there were some pungent cooking smells coming from the hallway into the unit. This was mostly alleviated by opening the sliding glass door, however, I was bothered by the smell when it got too hot and we had to close the door to run the a/c. I also noticed a stale smell anytime we entered the unit after it had been closed up for a few hours. I will add that I do tend to have a very sensitive sense of smell and nobody else was bothered by this. The unit is very close to the beach - you can walk over the sky bridge on the 2nd floor to the Modern hotel, then take the walkway from the Ilikai next door to the lagoon and beach. The only other downside was the parking. We knew and expected to pay $20 per day for parking, however, on July 5, the garage ran a $10 for 10 hour "special,â which they charged us extra for, even though we never moved our car! They claimed this was their standard procedure that that they even charged condo residents the extra amount. This is a very unfriendly policy and one I think the rental owners should subsidize. I would like to add that the onsite caretaker for this unit was great to work with and was very responsive. All in all, it's a great unit for the price - you get a roomy place in downtown Waikiki with a spectacular view that won't break the bank. I would definitely consider staying here again.

We have stayed at the Ilikai Marina 7 times over the last 5 years. The location is excellent and the prices are always great for Waikiki. In the past we have chosen the studio units that face ala Moana Blvd., but this trip we decided to upgrade to the one bedroom unit facing the harbor. Much quieter and loved the extra space. My husband works in Hawaii so he goes to bed a little earlier than myself, loved being able to close off the bedroom with the sliding wall divider. Never heard a peep from any other neighbors. Plus you cannot beat the views and food at the Charthouse restaurant on the first floor. This place is a hidden gem.

I originally booked a double queen bed room from Ilikai Hotel. After I found out this reasonable priced condo with living room, kitchen and view, I immediately booked this one and canceled the other. I was skeptical until the minute I stepped into the condo. Wow!!! What a beautiful sunset and ocean view! We couldn't believe our luck. We also enjoyed a magnificent firework show at the balcony right in front our eyes. Our applauding scream was echoed by the horns from boats and cars near and far at the end of the show. felt like celebrating New Year Eve. Btw, the firework show is from Hilton on every Friday night. One more tip, my husband found free parking space on the street. However, be very cautious. My brother couldn't find his car after he finished dinner at China Town. He paid his ransom, including taxi, fine and towing fee to get the car back. To make it short, My family had a wonderful time staying here. The suite is comfortable and of good size. I highly recommend this rental and will definitely come back again.

The Ilikai Marina is well-located with convenient parking, ABC mart for groceries close by, restaurants when one doesn't want to cook, walking paths along the marina, the park, and the lagoon. We had a rental car and, with the exception of the security checks for the apec conference, had no problem getting around in the city. The ala Moana shopping mall is near as is the Hilton Hawaiian Village and several other hotels and businesses. Our condo was great! It was very clean, had a wonderful king-sized bed, lovely furniture, immaculate wood floors, convenient kitchen with a granite countertop, and best of all a front row view of the harbor and ocean; watched the sunsets every evening. Service for parking, parcel deliveries, etc. was excellent. I recommend this residence to a single person or a couple wanting to visit Honolulu with flexibility. We decided to return here on our next visit. Highly satisfied customers.

The Back Niners from Bellingham WA on 10/21/2011 said:
This condo is close to two nice beaches, great restaurants (reasonable breakfasts in building Harbor Pub) and is centrally located. The view is fantastic of the marina, ocean and sunsets. We could see a fair on the park point light up at night with the sun going down behind it. The one bedroom condo is well layed out but parts are dated (built in the 60's). The kitchen is fine with all the neccessary utensils. The livingroom couch is uncomfortable to sit on (never tried it as a pullout bed). Other chairs are fine. No golf channel on TV and took two days to figure out how to remove "Closed Captions". Living room needs a area rug as floor is hard and cold. Worst part of condo was the bathroom. It was dirty when we arrived and had to call cleaning service to clean tub/shower and give us some face cloths and a second hand towel. There was only 3 bath towels for our 6 day stay and no bath matt. The tub did not drain properly but found the plunger and it helped. There are no laundry facilities. The cost was reasonable until you added the $20/night parking (which we were told was $17/night)
Manager response:
We appreciate your feed back as we strive to provide excellent service.
We wish to provide some facts.
There is a laundromat in The Ilikai Marina on the 8th floor. It is coin opertated so need to bring quarters and soap.
The futon sofa is brand new and it came from a high end furniture store in Honolulu. It turns into a Queen size bed.
The wood flooring is also brand new. Carpeting and rugs are a second choice in vacation rentals because hard flooring is much more sanitary.
992 has received continuous upgrades and replacements.
All units are cleaned by a professional housekeeping company after every check out. Two complete sets of towels( bath, hand, wash cloth and beach towels) are standard set up per Guest. A local contact phone number is provided for our Guests and we respond immediately to any Guest concerns.

We stayed one week at condo #992. Owner was helpful in getting the payments completed prior to arrival. Great king bed, kitchen, and amenities. Fantastic view of marina and ala Moana surf spot. The coffee pot quit on second day. But after calling the manager we had a new one within a day. Downside is the funky carpeting in the hallway. But that's probably a building ownership issue. Also the keyless entry was different. But once we got it we liked it. Also missed having a mini clothes washer and dryer in room. But the complex has several pay washers and dryers on the 8th floor.

It was a perfect location for us and well set up with the basics for our holiday. It was easy to get provisions from the ala Moana centre which was only about 10 minutes walk away. The bus system around this island also allowed us to explore nearby and the whole island for about 6 dollars each a day if you buy the 4 day bus pass. The biggest problem is that the unit smelt really bad and the only way we could put up with it was leaving the windows and sliding lanai door open all the time we were in the unit. Also the wirelss internet was so inconsistent that it became a real problem to stay online for any period of time. If these two problems were fixed it would have been perfect for us!!!

Hallways were dark and univiting. For the first two weeks one of the residents left their door open when cooking as well as the Exit door was propped open. Very distasteful odours in the hallway from their condo when cooking. This however was rectified after we mentioned to Kat. The condo was very clean however the condo was "tired" and needs to be renovated. The lanai was too small for our liking. We did like the bedroom seperate from the living room. Our concerns were dealt with when we called. Overall a nice stay at the condo.

If you want to be near Waikiki but don't like crowded beaches this is a good location as you can walk over to Ala Moana Park which has a great beach and is never crowded during the week. The kitchen of the condo was fully equiped with cutlery, utensils, and appliances, with one exception. We took all our meals in the condo and a dishwasher would have been a welcome appliance. (I hate doing dishes) The shopping cart provided was a very helpful extra.

Nice unit, great view. The plastic liner on the pull out bed was low quality, even our 4-yo daughter complained about it. The carpeting is pretty worn. It would have been nice to have housekeeping come in after the 7th day to do the towels/sheets. This was done for another unit we stayed in the previous year. We stayed a total of 13 days. The shower was a little dingy. This end of the building is subject to street noise from people outside of the restaurant below.
Manager response:
We appreciate the feedback. The carpeting is always washed on a normal basis and should not be a problem. We have not heard any complaints about the plastic liner on the pull out bed but will look into it. Interim cleanings are schedule at the guest's convenience. Just give us a call and we will let cleaning know to come in. I'm sorry the street noise was too much for you to bear but usually the noise isn't bad at all and does not cause a disturbance. Thanks again for the feedback!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this condo at the Ilikai Marina. First off, the view was fantastic, right alongside the Ilikai Marina with the clear blue waters of Waikiki to the left. After a long day of trekking around Oahu, sitting out on the private patio overlooking the marina was a great end to a day. The condo is centrally located at convenient distances from both the Ala Moana center and Waikiki, but still very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. The condo itself is very clean and well-kept with spacious and bright rooms. The wireless internet was very convenient for scouting out the day's activities. I didn't have a chance to take advantage of the surprisingly large kitchen, but it was a great plus to the condo's amenities. All in all, an amazing find and I would definitely would return a second time and recommend to friends.

THE VIEW IS SPECTACULAR. There is an excellent restaurant right downstairs. The place is easy to find, and conveniently located between Ala Moana (main shopping area) and Waikiki (main tourist beach). Good location and value for a vacation in Honolulu. The kitchen is a nice one if you have to cook. Only thing is that that parking fees are quite high. You can consider street parking, abundant close by. Finally, the check-in procedure, or the lack thereof, is nice and smooth on first and last day - saves a lot of time.

Great view, great vacation, condo is dated

Needs some work...
