Overall the Maui Kai Condo 206 was a great place for our honeymoon. It's about as close to the beach as one can get. The unit is clean and well appointed. There is no actual balcony but the large opening picture windows are close enough. The Murphy bed was comfortable and it was great to be able to "put it away" when we wanted. There was some construction in the adjacent units while we were there and the unit above has tile floors that generate some noise but it wasn't too bad.
Perfect!

For my wife and I, this really was the perfect place to stay on Maui. We were a little surprised at how small the condo seemed when we first arrived, but then we were also surprised that it really didn't matter. We had everything that we needed. The Condo was more than comfortable. The location was more than stunning. While we did not see any whales from our window, (it was just a little late in the season) we did see a huge sea turtle swim by. Amazing! The sound of the surf at night was hypnotic. You are so close to the waves that you'll have to close the windows if you want to hear the tv.
The condo is not part of the Maui Kai's "service", so you're a little bit of an outsider, but the office staff were still helpful and courteous, and you have access to all of the amenities except daily maid service.
If you are looking for a great economical place to stay, and you are a little independant and don't need the pampering of a high end resort, this is a heavenly option!
Comfortable, Easy

Everything was great - the bed, the shower and the kitchen were great. Very clean. Also, chairs, cooler and pool towels were great to have. Great location - close to Lahaina and Ka'apali Beach area. Right on the beach - can hear the waves all night and we saw whales from the window. If the condo had a balcony we probably would have never left - but it was just awesome, but then again it is in Maui.
We flew into Kapulu airport and that was 5 mins away with a grocery store at the corner.
A perfect piece of paradise

My stay in Maui Kai #206 far exceeded my expectations. The unit was tastefully furnished, well appointed, and had every amenity I needed. I found the beach chairs and towels a particularly welcome touch. The condo was sparkling clean upon arrival and truly felt like a home away from home. I appreciated the ample free parking and close proximity to a grocery store and shops. However, the star of my stay was the spectacular nightly sunset, accompanied by the sound of crashing waves below.
Absolutely loved the view and sound of the waves.

Maui Kai is a real hidden jewel. The condo has an unobstructed ocean view of Lanai and Molokai. Every night there is a beautiful sunset and if you are lucky a rainbow during the day as well. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves. We came to celebrate our birthdays and can't wait to come back and stay in Maui Kai Condo 206 again.
The Maui Kai -a most relaxing and special experience!

The Maui Kai is located not along the busy end of Lahaina but along a more sedate area designed to please those who wish to enjoy the quiet, relaxing on the beach, and a totally relaxed atmosphere. This does not mean that the opportunities for nightlife and more activities are excluded - you just have to look around. There is a multitude of information provided by the condo as well as by the condo owner and on-line. One item that failed to meet our expectations was the screened-in lanai. I must admit to my failure to notice the absence in the description. Love the bilateral ocean breezes, fabulous view, all amenities, clean. Had I not broken my arm in late Feb, this trip might have just been rated 100%. Truly a "God - Like place" on the planet! GREAT CONDO!!!
Even better than advertised!

We recently enjoyed a 10-day stay at Maui Kai Beach Resort unit 206. When we arrived, the unit was in sparkling condition, including all promised amenities in excellent working condition and then some. A gift basket containing fresh local fruit and other goodies was an especially pleasant surprise. As promised, the location of this condo was ideal for beach and especially whale watching; we saw many whales every day from the comfort of our room. We even saw large sea turtles in the ocean right below our window a couple of times. The wall bed was comfortable, and it was nice to be able to put the bed away during the day, allowing us more space for other activities during the day. The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed. The owners also provided a well-organized notebook with recommendations for local activities, restaurants, etc. The condo location is truly ocean front; from our room, we were often closer to the ocean than many people actually sitting on the beach next door. There is also a nice, paved "beachwalk" that starts one property south of the Maui Kai and goes all the way down to the south end of Kaanapali beach. This made it easy to walk to other parts of the beach for snorkeling and swimming and avoided parking headaches. The pool at the condo complex is small, but the spa is large and relaxing. The condo complex is nicely situated within easy walking distance of several grocery stores, a farmer's market, interesting shops and restaurants. This was our first visit to Maui, and we would not hesitate to stay at Maui Kai unit 206 again.
Paradise Found :)

We can't say enough good things about our condo stay in September to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The condo was updated, very clean and orderly, well organized and laid out and really made our stay most enjoyable. The new flat screen was an added bonus combined with all the movie rentals available downstairs. The Maui Kai really is the closest condo to the water in the Kaanapali Beach area and the staff, grounds, pool, and overall environment were all top notch. I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a quiet stay on Maui with all the beauty and local amenities that the Hyatt, Sheraton, and Ritz have to offer (at half the price).
Amazing experience

The condo is in a beautiful location and is a wonderful place to stay. Boasting an amazing view of the ocean through the windows and the mountain out of the front door, the condo is beautifully laid out and is close to every amenity you could possibly need. Plus, the rental agent very thoughtfully left us a basket of fruit to welcome us, which definitely put us in the Hawaii spirit. We would happily stay there again and will also happily recommend the unit to everyone we know who will be visiting the island. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Unit itself is very functional - kitchen had everything we needed - every batchelor unit should have a Murphy bed like this one - great space for group dinners, we had 6 of us most nights - the Maui Kai is a great place to stay - just the right size of property and unsurpassed location - whale watching at this time of year was amazing - this was our second stay at the Maui Kai and it confirmed our first impressions - we will definitely be back!
