I came to Maui for my wedding and honeymoon and chose this condo on a whim, and I do not regret it one bit! When we walked through the door, both of our jaws dropped! Kitchen is a gorgeous update, and the whole condo was very spacious and comfortable. The view is absolutely amazing, we literally sat right over the water and left the windows open at night to listen to the waves. This condo was a great retreat after a long day in the sun! The location is also grea as we spend a lot of time in Lahaina and Whalers Village. I would definitely go there again.

My (now) husband and I were looking for a place to stay in Maui where we were getting married and found this wonderful condo. The owners were very quick to respond and were very accommodating and helpful when we needed to extend our reservation. Maui Kai is in a great location tucked back from all the hustle/bustle but still just 5 mins from Kaanapali and 15 from Lahaina. There are shops, restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. Inside the unit was very clean and had a great setup with everything you need and more! The kitchen had almost all the utensils and cooking items needed (no Saran Wrap or tinfoil for food storage but it had Tupperware), the bathroom came with plenty of towels and they had plenty of extra sheets and blankets. The A/C was divine and worked great and that view....breathtaking!! We are definitely coming back to stay here again!! All around great experience.

This condo was everything we'd hope for — modern, spotlessly clean, enough space for two despite being a studio, tastefully decorated, convenient to stores, a short walk to a nice beach or a 20-30 minute walk to Airport and North Kaanapali Beaches (but use footwear if going on the 'boardwalk' because it gets quite hot). The view out the window was panoramic but the full view out on the terrace by the seawall was spectacular. Building staff were friendly and helpful. There was even a computer with a printer in the building by the pool to help make arrangements for the flight home. Absolutely makes for a great vacation.

My husband and I stayed at the Maui Kai Beach Resort in December of 2015 for just a few days. It is such a nicely equipped condo with everything you could possibly need for a carefree stay (right down to emergency supplies and information!). This condo is really, REALLY close to the ocean right on Ka'anapali Beach and while it would have been nice to have a lanai to sit on, we could open the big sliding windows and kind of get the effect. We listened to the waves every night and while I thought the sound of them might trigger dreams about an impending tsunami (ha ha!), they did not! Since this was our first time to Maui, we really just wanted to explore for a few days and I feel like this was a really great location for doing that. Lahaina was just a few minutes down the road with so many great restaurants and activities that we didn't even get to make a dent. We did do the drive up around the coast to Kapalua (NOT for the faint of heart or unskilled driver!) which was a total kick in the pants! We took the Maui Discovered book provided in the condo along for the trip and it really helped us to find certain places that we might have driven on by and man, is it an entertaining read! I would suggest taking the time to stop at every pull out and poke around because there are some absolutely gorgeous sights to see for those who will stop and take the time. Overall, we had such a good time and would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much, Paul, for making your condo available to us!

We had a fantastic stay here. The condo was in a super convenient location and the windows opened right on to the crashing waves. Just note there is no actual balcony/lanai to sit on. We didn't mind, as you can sit right next to the giant open windows. The bed was super comfy and the kitchen was ridiculously well stoked with all you need to cook a meal. We never actually bothered though as there were so many options to eat out. Beach towels and beach chairs were another bonus. Would stay here again!

My wife and I vacationed for 2 weeks in Maui, staying in unit 206 in the Maui Kai resort. The unit is on the beach with direct oceanfront views. The unit is in excellent condition with a fully equipped kitchen and ample sized bath. On the oceanfront side there is a wall of windows with sea views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Breathtaking sunsets, and the sound of the surf enhance the experience. The photographs are an accurate depiction of the unit. We cooked most of our meals during our stay. The pool/hotub area also contains a fully equipped indoor/outdoor kitchen with Jenn-Air gas grills perfect for barbecuing fish, meat, vegetables. The Maui Kai is well located, close to restaurants, a grocery store, and other shopping, and is an excellent base for exploring the island. There is a nice snorkeling spot a short walk up the beach to the north. You can see the marker buoys from the window. The Maui Kai is a few minutes drive from Blackrock, one of the most famous snorkeling spots in Hawaii. The owner of the unit, Paul, was staying at his other unit in the building. Paul has traveled the world, and is very knowledgeable and helpful, as is Cathy, who oversees the day to day management. If we return to Maui, this is where we will stay.

Everything they say in other reviews is true.

Location is awesome in all meanings. You are so close to the ocean, it feels like you sail on a ship. Ocean view is stunning both day and night. Condo is strategically located so you can enjoy sunset, sun actually sinks in the ocean (not just goes behind some mountain), constant rainbows, moonbows (did you know such thing exist?). Fantastic. Since it's so close to the beach, you can wake up, go for a swim, and return back in minutes.

Grocery store in minutes walks, board walk (the board walk) is right there. All stroller accessible.

Kitchen is so well equipped, that I could not guess what some tools are for. If you thinking whether you need to bring anything from home - no.

Room is actually much larger that on the pictures/video. If you keep all beds unfolded at all time - then you get an average hotel size room, otherwise it's spacious.

Reservations were easy and accurate with excellent support and notification. The condo itself is on the beach, not close to the beach, on the beach! You cannot walk in front of the resort without getting your feet wet. Popular surfer spot you can view from your room.

All the comforts of home including a very nice kitchen, Hdtv, DVD, internet, large shower, air conditioning (although the trade winds and open windows cools the place nicely if you like the sound of the surf). There is a shopping center across the street for groceries and fast food. There is also a pool and hot tub, with upscale Bbq's and a picnic area. Nice place to relax and BBQ some mahi mahi or a steak.

It is very quiet, no bar/restaurants, but you can walk on the beach to get to several of them either North or South.

We had to choice of enjoying every sunset from inside or have a 30 sec walk to the beach. Wake up with the breeze of the ocean or chose to snooze in for a couple more hours if needed. We also had access to the computer and printer from the pool house. The hot tub was also nice after a long day in the ocean or hiking.

The condo itself was modern, bright, very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen in particular was excellent with lots of cooking utensils which we could make use of with a large supermarket nearby. The views were amazing. We were there during whaling season and could spot whales swimming past on a daily basis. There were laundry facilities onsite. The staff at reception were pleasant and helpful despite the fact we were staying in a private rental. Lovely pool area with heated pool, jacuzzi and bbq. The beach outside the condo is quite narrow but we walked down the beach for a few minutes and found a good spot. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Maui we would not hesitate in choosing Maui Kai 206 for our stay.

Condo #206 was perfect for us! Having read many of the other reviews of this unit, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed.

You could not be closer to the ocean if you wanted. It is virtually right outside your window and your view is fantastic! It was January and we did not have to worry about a/C, so we left the window open all night and dreamt to the sound of the waves splashing up against the shoreline. Needless to say, we slept very well!

There is no beach front to speak of for this resort so you have to use public beaches, but there are some beach chairs and boogie boards in the room for your use. That was not an issue for us, but I thought I might mention it.

The unit is a studio and a little on the small side. I'm not sure it would be as appropriate for families with older children or for more than a couple of adults, but for couples or families with smaller children it works very well.

During our stay, we did not spend a lot of time actually in the Condo because there was so much to see and do that we spent almost every waking minute out absorbing what we could of Maui; the culture, the history, the geography, etc. but when we were there we appreciated the kitchen (fully supplied with tableware, utensils and a dishwasher), the bathroom (which had all the amenities), the overall cleanliness, the relaxed decor and the quiet! There is a small safe for your valuables. We were even able to watch the Bronco playoff game! That was the only reason we even turned on the T.V. so I can't say what the extent of the channel lineup is.

Location wise, you are snuggled in between a couple of other higher priced resorts, there is a grocery store and a couple of local restaurants nearby and you are only a short distance from Lahaina. A little music spills over from one of the resorts next door in the evening, but that is turned off/down by 10PM or so.

I gave this a 5 star rating in every aspect because for us there was absolutely nothing to find wrong!

This was our first trip to Maui and above our expectations.

Maui was lovely and the Maui Kai Condo #206 was a pleasure to stay in. We were at first disappointed that it didn't have a lanai, but quickly realized that with the windows wide open, there was no need. Hearing the waves rolling in directly below was amazing.

The condo was very clean and very well set up. The bed is comfortable, and is smaller than we're used to. The kitchen is a pleasure. The laundry facilities are conveniently located down the hall. And, the view is amazing.

The location was perfect and amenities (groceries, pina colada ingredients, take-out dinners, gifts, etc.) were available across the street from the condo entrance. While arriving "home" from our excursions, we appreciated the quiet and beautiful entrance to Maui Kai.

We loved watching the surfers right outside our window as the swells were amazing. We walked several miles on the beach walk most days and drove up the coast to watch the surfers and visit friends. We mostly enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the ocean and love the warm water and weather.

We recommend Condo #206 and Maui Kai as a nice place to stay in Paradise. Thank you.

We randomly stumbled across the Maui Kai some years ago, and now choose to stay there every time we come to Maui. Every room faces the beautiful waters of West Maui, and you could almost jump from your lanai into the ocean. It's that close! Condo 206 was well apportioned Jr Suite, with a comfortable Murphy-bed, Hdtv Big screen., kitchen, bathroom shower, etc. I was thankful for the internet network cable, as the hi-speed direct connection gave me the ability to plugin my laptop and stream TV shows & video not available by in-house cable. Only downside for us was the absence of an outdoor balcony. The design of the Maui Kai doesn't seem to provide the outdoor space at this unit we often enjoyed in other Maui Kai units we've stayed. However, it was not that big a detractor from our pleasure as the big ocean-front windows slide open to the sounds and scents of the ocean. It was also handy to be close to the stairway, so it was much faster to take the stairs then wait for the elevator. I would stay in this unit again, as well as any unit at the Maui Kai. Maui Kai will always remain on our preferred list when vacationing on the Valley Isle.

We were a little surprised at how small the condo seemed when we first arrived, but then we were also surprised that it really didn't matter. We had everything that we needed. The Condo was more than comfortable. The location was more than stunning. While we did not see any whales from our window, (it was just a little late in the season) we did see a huge sea turtle swim by. Amazing! The sound of the surf at night was hypnotic. You are so close to the waves that you'll have to close the windows if you want to hear the tv. The condo is not part of the Maui Kai's "service", so you're a little bit of an outsider, but the office staff were still helpful and courteous, and you have access to all of the amenities except daily maid service. If you are looking for a great economical place to stay, and you are a little independant and don't need the pampering of a high end resort, this is a heavenly option!

The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed. The owners also provided a well-organized notebook with recommendations for local activities, restaurants, etc. The condo location is truly ocean front; from our room, we were often closer to the ocean than many people actually sitting on the beach next door. There is also a nice, paved "beachwalk" that starts one property south of the Maui Kai and goes all the way down to the south end of Kaanapali beach. This made it easy to walk to other parts of the beach for snorkeling and swimming and avoided parking headaches. The pool at the condo complex is small, but the spa is large and relaxing. The condo complex is nicely situated within easy walking distance of several grocery stores, a farmer's market, interesting shops and restaurants. This was our first visit to Maui, and we would not hesitate to stay at Maui Kai unit 206 again.

We can't say enough good things about our condo stay in September to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The condo was updated, very clean and orderly, well organized and laid out and really made our stay most enjoyable. The new flat screen was an added bonus combined with all the movie rentals available downstairs. The Maui Kai really is the closest condo to the water in the Kaanapali Beach area and the staff, grounds, pool, and overall environment were all top notch. I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a quiet stay on Maui with all the beauty and local amenities that the Hyatt, Sheraton, and Ritz have to offer (at half the price).

The condo is in a beautiful location and is a wonderful place to stay. Boasting an amazing view of the ocean through the windows and the mountain out of the front door, the condo is beautifully laid out and is close to every amenity you could possibly need. Plus, the rental agent very thoughtfully left us a basket of fruit to welcome us, which definitely put us in the Hawaii spirit. We would happily stay there again and will also happily recommend the unit to everyone we know who will be visiting the island. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Unit itself is very functional - kitchen had everything we needed - every batchelor unit should have a Murphy bed like this one - great space for group dinners, we had 6 of us most nights - the Maui Kai is a great place to stay - just the right size of property and unsurpassed location - whale watching at this time of year was amazing - this was our second stay at the Maui Kai and it confirmed our first impressions - we will definitely be back!

Although I've stayed in Hawaii a number of times, this is the closest I've been to the water and I must say I LOVED IT SOOOO MUCH!!! The unit was just superb - so nicely laid out and convenient - I found a fantastic little restaurant/bar very nearby! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
