Staying at the Moana Kai beach house was not only ideal location but had great energy. It was clean with all the amenities we needed for our stay like cooking items, towels including beach towels, beach gear, books to read, t.v. and pool/ jacuzzi. Great place to hang out and watch surf kiting. We really liked how close this house was to everything. You could walk to town of Kapa'a and the bike path was right there too. the house also had laundry machines great when you have kids.Plenty of space. Everything was great and we would come and stay again!Jim planned ahead for everything, easy to get to and reservation was simple online at aloha condos.com. follow up was also exceptional.

We had a fabulous, wonderful, and totally enjoyable stay. The house is beautiful, comfortable, well cared for and maintained.IT is obvious that the owners are diligent in their committment to excellence... we even noticed all their workers (yard guys, maids etc) seemed very happy. Impressive detail to notice. We had read about the infamous 'rooster' but it really was no problem and I am quite a light sleeper! We heard him, but the ambiance, location, and everything about our stay was sooooo nice and relaxing we hardly noticed. I also appreciated the anti-allergy wood floors and sofa, the incredibly comfortable mattresses and bedding, and relative privacy location on an ocean beach... not bad! We are still smiling~ We want to thank the owners/Aloha Condos for such an enjoyabe stay.Mahalo! Linda

When we walked into Moana Kai we felt right at home. Everything in the house was well stocked which you normally don't get. And all the furniture was very comfortable and the place was very clean. Everything you see on the website is what you get. We've rented some before where that's not the case. The view was excellent. We started our vacation watching the whales and ended it watching the Kite Surfer's all from the Lanai. A short walk down the walking path was a perfect swimming beach. And then there's the rooster's. They are a part of the Island. I wouldn't change anything about this place. Until we meet again Moana Kai.
Wonderful!

The condo was very nice, well decorated, and very well stocked which was appreciated. The beds were fabulously comfortable and the hottub was a nice surprise. The three drawbacks to the condo however were: 1) it is set *very* near a park where the local homeless would hang out till late at night - not a place I would recommend bringing young children too. 2) The beaches on the entire east side of Kauai were not swimable when we were there and it is a long drive to get to a beach that is swimable. 3) There are roosters RIGHT OUTSIDE the master bedroom suite that commence between 4-5am EVERY morning. They are ~10 ft away from the window and there is NOTHING you can do about it. (We wondered why the condo came w/ earplugs, and now we know.) Hard to have a nice vacation when you can't sleep through the night. sigh It's unfortunate that such a lovely condo had these drawbacks, it was a nice place, but we couldn't recommend it to friends given the roosters and location.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and for staying at my beachfront home in Kauai.
My home is adjacent to Lihi (pronounced Lee Hee) beach park and boat ramp in Kapaa. As of May 2010, there are *no longer* any homeless people hanging out in the park. The Kauai Police Department (KPD) has put up new signs and are now enforcing the following illegal behaviors - overnight camping, drinking alcoholic beverages and parking for more than 24 hours. These rules are strictly enforced by the KPD and any loud noises after 9PM are also not allowed in the park. I've been assured by the KPD - and have direct personal experience - that they will enforce all of these rules, especially when contacted via phone. They also patrol the parks but not constantly. If there are disturbances please contact me or the KPD directly and we'll make sure it's resolved immediately.
I have a 1 year old and have had only positive experiences with people we meet when toddling around the park day or night.
As with any beaches in Hawaii, the conditions can vary from day to day - even from hour to hour - and can run from calm to rough. You must have been in my home during a rough time as I have swum along the ocean just across the bike path bridge (100 feet from the home) dozens of times when the conditions where calm. This is typically in the summertime but can be also any time of the year.
We have recently had problems with the roosters due to construction on a home nearby (which is now complete) and the roosters had moved in closer to our home during construction. This is no longer the case and I am constantly addressing this island-wide issue on a local basis and will continue to do so moving forward.
Given that my home is at the trail head of the new (2009) five mile beach path and is only a 10 minute walk from dozens of restaurants and miles of beaches, I hope that you had a chance to enjoy some of the reasons that I bought in such a great location. The beach path is going to be extended in 2011 to Lydgate Park will continue even further south in the future.

We had a lovely time on Kauai in mid-February and very much enjoyed our stay at Moana Kai Beach House B. It was perfect for 3 couples. We saw humpback whales breaching from the lanai and enjoyed cooking meals in the well-appointed kitchen. The location on the island is great. If it wasn't for the roosters (that seemed to begin crowing each night around 1 a.m.), it would have been perfect. Thanks!

We found the quality of the house and the supply of essential household items(eg. soap, cleaning supplies, paper products) to be exceptional. Also the bath and bed linens were top quality. The house is well maintained as was the pool and landscaping. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise every morning; thanks in part to our grandchildren and the rooster living next door. Our grandchildren loved the pool and all the toys provided by the house. We made good use of the sand toys at the various beautiful beaches around the island. This was our first visit to Kauai. We hope to be back soon.

Nice house! We shared with another couple, and there was plenty of separation and privacy. Before choosing this house my wife and I did a lot of research on condos on Kauai, including some of the two and three story apartment-like ones being advertised elsewhere. One night we went for a walk along the path behind our house and walked past a large condo complex we had previously considered. What a relief we chose Moana Kai Beach House! The poor folks we saw through their sliding glass doors in their tiny little living rooms... that could have been us!

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful condo in Kapaa. Extremely spacious, modern, clean and well equipped with everything you could need, Moana Kai was the perfect place to start our holiday in Hawaii. The in room jacuzzi was bliss & the lanai hot tub was the perfect place to sit back & watch the windsurfers & waves roll in to the beach only 50metres or so from the house. The rooms were well stocked with amenities & the beds were extremely comfortable! The louvre windows throughout the property allowed for a great trade wind breeze to come through all of the rooms also. Jim's welcome hamper was also greatly appreciated & got us into just the right mood for the rest of our holiday. We were able to walk easily up to the shops & restaurants nearby (Mermaids Ahi taco's are still making me salivate!) & were able to drive to other beaches & sights without trouble. The main road can get rather congested at times, but were were on Hawaii time, so didn't mind it too much. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have more time to spend at this amazing condo! Couldn't have asked for anything better! Mahalo, Lachlan, Kass, Jane & Simon

This is a beautiful beach house with lots of space and great furnishings. You couldn't ask for a better central location to cover this side of the island. The dipping pool was perfect for our 3 and 5 year olds, as well as us! Only downside, I believe there was a hot tub that wasn't working and the cats in heat (crying in the early morning) were far worse than the usual roosters the island has. Ear plugs were provided though! Would love to go back.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review.
The hot tub on the lanai is fixed. It's a great place to kick back and soak while watching to ocean waves rolling onto the sandy beach right in front of the beach house. It's only a few steps to the cool dipping pool.
The feral cats were "evicted" last year when I sent more than 18 of them to live at the humane society.
The roosters have also been given their move-out notices and haven't been an issue this year (2009).
Now a peaceful nights sleep is what you can expect. It's what my family and I had experienced living in our home from February through July this year. We welcomed our new son, Kai, into the world here in May and the sounds of the waves lulled him to sleep every day and night.

The house was clean and completely furnished with every comfort of home. We all enjoyed having access to a pool and hot tub without needing to leave the yard. This beach house provided a superb place for relaxation, as well as a great base for seeing the sights around the island. In short, our stay there has set for us a new standard for comfort and style. Found the home after searching many websites. Stayed there for four days and really enjoyed the property. Lots of room, beautifully decorated and many extras, great access to the beach and the lengthy walking path along the ocean heading north out of Kapaa. Close proximity to food and beverage. We got up early every day and watched the sun rise over the Pacific from the lanai, then took a long walk oceanside...breathtaking and very relaxing. Only drawback was the roosters; they're everywhere on Kauai and crowing like mad around 5 am! Property to the south of the rental leaves a little to be desired as well. This is the 4th time I have stayed here at Moana Kai Beach house unit B. I love this place. I have been to Kauai many times and this is definitely my favorite place to stay. Nothing beats the location, atmosphere of the property, and the interior set up of this beautiful condo. When I walk in it is like walking into my own private beach house, with the beach just outside the Lani doors. The waterfall and the pool in the front yard, with the beach just beyond are a constant reminder I am vacationing in beautiful Kauai. Recently they have added a great little walking path down along the shoreline, giving easier access to the beaches and to downtown Kapaa. The shops and restaurants are a quick 5 minute walk from the condo. I can not imagine an easier place to relax in the evenings. Listening to the waves outside the front doors, and enjoying the beautiful furnishings and decorations inside. I loved the bright, vivid paintings throughout the house. My favorite thing about this house, besides its easy comfort, is that the sun rises directly outside the front doors. The first rays of dawn shine strait out of the ocean directly towards you. Breathtaking.

This is THE most beautiful, calming, relaxing and classy home I've ever stayed in for a vacation. I loved the spacious and open floorplan of the home, the kitchen is fully equipped with *everything* to cook gourmet meals every day (I saved $$ on being able to cook the clean kitchen, and I LOVED doing so with the sliding glass doors open while overlooking the pacific ocean and with fresh breezes coming in!). The house is decorated beautifully with original and inspiring artwork throughout the home, and every piece of furniture is comfortable and pleasing to the eye. There is a sense of Zen throughout the home. It felt like my long-lost home right away and I got (way too) comfortable right away. The bathrooms are squeaky clean and showers are so comfortable; the master bedroom is HUGE and sensual, the 2nd bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean with direct sunshine and moonlight flooding in :-) I loved waking up to free- roaming roosters every morning and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every night... yess... I loved being able to sunbathe privately in the front yard that overlooks the ocean! and having access to everything the entire island has to offer quickly because this property is located right in the middle of the coastline which makes it an equi-distant drive to the North or South shore. I just loved that I was able to truly relax in a clean, visually beautiful and stimulating environment. I will vacation at this home again and again in the blink of an eye when I go back to Kauii. My experience in this home was a healing and loving one and I can't wait to be back...

We were two couples who rented this house. We had never been to Kauai before. the house was absolutely beautiful--the funiture--the pool--facing the ocean. There were some issues for us--- 1)There was no air-conditioning----coming from California, where we have no humidity with our heat, it was hard to dry off, and sleep. I inquired about the air-conditioning before deciding to rent it, and was told that there was a strong breeze that came through the house, so we wouldn't need it. Well, there was a strong breeze, but it never came in any of the bedrooms, because of the weird windows. And even with the breeze, it was HOT! 2) Another thing that you can't escape on this island---rousters----everywhere !! They start crowing around 4 AM. And you can't close your windows, or you will suficate. We won't be back, we like the Big Island and Maui better, but anyone who can tolerate the humidity, and crowing rousters will love staying here.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review.
You must have been here during an unusual time when the trade winds were not blowing - sorry it was so hot for you. I've doubled the window size for air flow in the master bedroom since your stay. I've been staying in my home for the past two months and the trades have been blowing strong and steady every day, which is typical.
The roosters have been moving on to other areas of the island due to my rooster relocation program and "encouragement" to leave the area. :)

The home worked well for our large group of family. The hot tub is too small and not of commercial quality. The house although nice is dated. The kitchen could use new appliances and a good cleaning. The small unheated pool was adequate only since no one else in the tri-plex used it. This is the only time we have rented a "Vacation Rental" and although the owner and local manager were as helpful as they could reasonably be the property really is not suitable for commercial rental. I am a Resort Owner and our standards are much higher in the Industry. The beds are first class as are the bathrooms. Fairly close to the ocean and very pleasant Lanai in good or bad weather.
