Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club
Condo 5-201

2-Bedroom 2-Bath Oceanfront Condo - Sleeps 4

  Everything as described and pictured!

My gf and I stay at the unit# 5-201 at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club for 2 nights from 5/14 to 5/16/2013. The unit is exactly as described and pictured on the website. Actually, when we saw it in person, it was a lot better than pictured. Beautiful ocean-front views from both the living room and master bedroom. The unit was recently remodeled and the furniture were very clean as well. It was a little too big for just the two of us as this is a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit. All in all, it was perfect from time of booking to check-out. Everything was very easy. The owner communicates very well during the whole process via email and provides all the pertinent information. I had no troubles at all during my 2 night stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this to anyone staying in the Kona area.

  Relaxing, beautiful paradise retreat!

We enjoyed our Kona stay in this beautiful, well equipt unit. The kitchen had all the needed items to have relaxing meals in when we chose. Have stayed many times at this development & this is the loveliest unit we have stayed in. Loved our daily breakfasts on the lanai. Will look forward to the chance to return!

  Spectacular accommodations

Condo 5-201 is exactly as pictured, it is beautifully decorated and everything still looks new and is in perfect condition and very clean. The furniture and beds were comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view and sound of the ocean made us feel like we were right on the beach. The ocean was loud at times but we saw that as a plus and the reason we wanted to stay right on the water. We appreciated the little extras like beach towels, beach chairs and boogie boards. Having those items available to take to the beach was very helpful. If we had to name any negatives, one would be the lighting and ventilation in the master bathroom, it was very dim and made it difficult to put on makeup, although I found using the mirror in the master bedroom, with all the light from the bedroom windows, a good solution. The bathroom also has only a small window, no fan, so after a shower it stayed pretty warm in there. A small fan would have made a huge difference. The grounds of the resort were very pleasant and well maintained. The pool area was much nicer than it looked in the pictures and was a great place to relax in the sun. We were very happy with our choice to stay at this condo and if we return to Kona, we would definitely want to stay here again.

  Amazing condo

Wow! This condo was beautiful!!! We were there when there was high surf, and so the view was breathtaking. Woke up and looked out the window to see whales. The golf course view was also stunning. The condo was clean, well stocked with beach items including boogie boards and lots of towels. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen that is a chef's dream. We will definitely return to this unit next time we are in Kona. Wonderful experience!

  Spectacular condo (shhh)

I almost don't want to tell anyone about this condo, because I don't want the competition if we want to return. ;-) Well furnished, clean, comfortable, beautiful, quiet condo - other than the spectacular waves a few feet (really!) from the lanai. There was a high surf on our first day and as my daughter said, "who needs New Year's fireworks?" Wonderful stuff! There were also whales, dolphins, outrigger canoes and sunsets. The shopping center is within walking distance, as are two beaches - one with snorkeling, the other with sups, kayaks and snorkeling/scuba tours. The owner was easy to work with, getting in and checking out was no problem whatsoever, and Keauhou is a nice base from which to explore the west and south sides of the Big Island. We highly recommend this unit (but please don't tell anyone else).

  Our favorite

This is our favorite condo in the whole complex. Decor and furnishings are high end and beautiful. Lots of extra touches and a very quiet condo with crashing waves out front during storms and high swells. This time we watched some java sparrows trying to get their babies to fly from the nest on the lanai to their new home in a tree. This took a week of hilarity and we became foster parents, helping the babies not crash into the windows. What a treat! There was high wave action this time and spectacular crashing and booming waves on the lava. We hated to leave.

It doesn't get any better than this.

This end unit condo is beautifully furnished, has fantastic views of the ocean and the top of Hualalai volcano, and is conveniently located. Even beach items such as towels, chairs and snorkel gear are provided.

Best in Surf and Racquet Club

180 degree views of ocean just a stone's throw away from wrap around lanai. The unit is well appointed. Professionally decorated. Quite spacious. It's great to be able to watch the TV and the ocean at the same time since the olympics was on. We walked around the property a bit and visited a couple open houses. None of the units were as nicely decorated with the tile, kitchen, bathroom as 5-201. I left all windows and doors open to get a breeze inside the unit since there was no a/c. I wasn't bothered to much, good quality screens on all. The view from the master bedroom as well as the living room is fantastic. The master doesn't quite close off as there is a hallway to the other bedroom and bathrooms. I would return to this unit, but I also might try the marriott if you want to be more centrally located, but don't care about seclusion or spend much time in the room.

Clean condo, perfect view, nice wind from the ocean//

And very quiet location. Perfect for the long stay. It is located 15 minutes from the center of Kailua-Kona by car, but if you would like to go to the restaurant, you can easily call a taxi in town, less than 20$ one-way//

  Excellent Condo!!!

This condo has it all. The entire place is remodeled and looks amazing. Sitting on the lanai is one of the most relaxing and enjoying things we have ever done. The view is amazing and the sounds of the ocean are captivating. The location of the condo is perfect. Shopping center near by and town is just a few moments away as well, but when you are in the condo, you feel like you are a million miles away. Cant wait to visit this place next year...

  Wonderful

Two of us spent 6 nights here in early May and it was by far the nicest place we have stayed in the Kona area. The condo was very clean, fully appointed and equipped for every need during our stay, including beach/snorkling equipment and tons of beach towels. It was also incredibly quiet unlike some of the other popular beach areas. (Note - the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is not for families with small children; it has no beach access and no facilities for them.) But for us it was the perfect place to start and end our days watching the ocean and surf; sunsets in particular were fantastic.

  Step above the rest

The condo was very nice. The kitchen is arranged to accommodate family gatherings, or comfortable informal meals. However, there is no kitchen table, the island provides a nice area where you can eat. We rented two other condo's at the same time to have a family vacation together. This unit was perfect for congregating for our meals and family time away from the beach. It was a step above the others with a walk in shower for the master. It is stocked well with pans and necessary kitchen items, bath towels, beach toys, etc. so we had a great time. The only draw back is that although it is a beautiful setting we had to drive to beaches but we knew this before going so it was not an issue for us and almost a safety feature for having 8 grandchildren together by the water.

—DJ (04/10/2012)

Manager response:

Thanks for your review and we're very happy to hear you had a great time. Also glad to hear you were able to put our kitchen table-island to use for your family. Reminder, we also have seating for 4 at the table on the lanai where you can enjoy the ocean and the wonderful trade winds that bless the West side of the Big Island. And yes, the Big Island is not a particularly "sandy-beachy" island but remember, there is a nice little black sand beach at the North end of the resort, just a 3 minute walk from the condo. And make sure to get the early-morning snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park (some of the best snorkeling on the island), just 10 minutes walk North on Ali'i drive. Jay, owner 5-201

  Phenomenal

Our stay in the condo was purely amazing. It had every amenity a family would need to have a five star stay. I would recommend this condo to anyone coming to Kona for a stay. The views off the lanai were breathtaking. The building was peaceful and quiet. It had a home away from home feeling. I would give it five stars. I travelled with my family with an 11 and 13 year old and they were blown away We hope to be back again next year!!! The owner was very responsive to questions and was great to work with. I did not have a lot of needs because the condo exceeded my expectations

Beautifully renovated condo on the water, can't get better than

We stayed at 5-201 for five nights. It was a beautiful large place overlooking the ocean, and we even saw whales. Fully equipped and a close proximity to ali drive and groc shopping. We remembered our tennis racquets but forgot tennis shoes so didn't get to use the courts. Walked along the shore and saw resting green turtles and a variety of fish. We'd certainly return if we get to the big island again.

Beautiful Unit, Fantastic Locaiton, noisey complex

Absolutely love this unit--beautiful kitchen, great furnishings, great relaxing furniture and a fantastic lanai looking out onto the ocean!! The location is fantastic--excellent snorkeling within walking distance & just a 5 minute drive to downtown Kona. My only reservation was the sounds/noise heard from other guests staying at htis complex. We were on the second floor, and therefore heard noise from below & above. Our downstairs neighbors complained to us about our noise! And, believe me, all we did was walk gently. Its just the way the buildings are built. The buildings have no air conditioning which is not really necessary for temperature control (wonderful ocean breezes), but for noise control, it would have been nice to close the windows at night. Also, we were there during the busiest time of year (Christmas, 2011). I suspect that during less busy times, there is less noise. Having said that, I still really love this place. Next time I'll bring my ear plugs.

  Perfect!

We had a great stay at this condo unit. Owner was a pleasure dealing with, and was very responsive to email questions before arriving. Beautifully furnished and upgraded utilities like washer/dryer, fridge, stove. Location is facing the ocean, with great unobstructed view of sunsets. Corner unit gets additional side views as well. I wish the ceiling fans in bedroom had variable speeds, like the ones in kitchen/ living room, but that is the only thing I can criticize.

  Complete Package

My husband & I stayed for a week in this beautiful condo. Our son and 2 1/2 year old grand daughter shared it with us and it was perfect. Overlooking the ocean, we saw pods of up to 30 dolphins swim by each morning along with boats and sparkling lights in the distance at night. The gorgeous kitchen is great for cooking and sharing family meals and the 'smart' appliances, comfortable beds and beautiful furnishings make this space very special. Close proximity to 2 great beaches and snorkeling spots plus the down town shopping district made our stay the total package.

  This place is really wonderfull

This condo is beautiful, well equipped, clean and quiet. The view is not only outstanding but I think one of the best in the complex. The condo owner and manager were friendly and responded promptly to any concerns or questions that we had about the condo. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  Kona's best secret

We have stayed here twice at this condo. I would not stay anywhere else on the island! It will exceed your expectations of a vacation stay. It has a view of the ocean and the beautiful golf course from different locations in the condo. Jay,the owner is accessible to communicate during the entire process.

  Perfect Vacation

I researched for days trying to locate the best condo for my family. I am a single mom with 3 teenagers so it was hard to find enough space for all of us. I found it here. First, the location is a minute from the grocery store plaza, but more importantly for us farther away from the bustle of town. We loved to go into town for shopping and dining and enjoyed coming back to our quiet resort. This condo is amazing. The view from the wrap around covered porch took my breath away. It was my favorite part of the condo. The furniture was soft, comfortable and placed to see an ocean view from every seat. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and was masterfully designed with the large granite island and countertops. The best of everything was put into this kitchen. The beds and baths were immaculately kept and very comfortable. I especially liked the deck and windows open to the ocean breezes at night. The owner, Jay was extrememly efficient and pleasant. He answered every question I had in no time at all. I had left some personal items there at the condo and I contacted him and he was on it and they were shipped to me immediately. That says a lot to his character and his passion for his rental and clients. I will come back to this exact unit and if you are looking for a condo in Kona look no more, you found it.

  Wonderful condo.

This unit was fantastic. The first thing that blew us away was the view. The quality of the unit was also a nice surprise. We stayed at the Hilton King's Land first then rented 5-201 for the last few days of our vacation in Kona. We all agreed that for us the Keauhou Kona condo fit our family (2 adults 2 older teenage boys) much better than the bigger resorts. Nearby snorkeling was also better here than the Hilton. I loved the fact that they had some flippers that we could borrow. Hope I don't convince too many people to book here because we would love to come back. Fyi - the master bedroom is separated from the living area by shoji sliding screens. This gives it less of a private feel than a full wall. The second bedroom is more private.

  Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

We had a wonderful time staying at this condo. The owner was punctual and provided us with all the information about the condo each step of the way. This particular condo was nice, because it was tastefully remodeled and had an open feel. We visited another building within the same club, and they weren't as nice. The lanai is big and private. The other buildings were much closer together, so there wasn't much privacy. I was a bit concerned about the noise of the waves keeping me awake at night, but with the windows closed, I was able to sleep through the night. Overall, the condo was very well equipped for guests to enjoy the island vacation. One thing that bothered me was that the coffee machine didn't look very clean. Maybe just mineral deposits or something. Good thing we took some instant coffee with us... Thank you, we had a great time!

—C. K. (06/01/2011)

Manager response:

The water spots were wiped off the coffee maker :) You don't want to miss the Kona coffee! J Elliott, owner condo 5-201

  Spectacular!! First Class accomodations

Wow!!! Of the many condos I have rented in my many trips to the various Hawaiian Islands, this is without a doubt the finest. -Ocean view: any closer and you would get wet. The condo is situated to have an unobstructed view for miles up the coast. -Privacy: Being on the second floor, no passerbys can see in. Being an end unit, there are lots of windows and on all three sides, but adjacent buildings are not close and they are situated so they can not easily see inside. We kept the drapes open the entire week to fully enjoy the spectacular view of ocean, mountains, and golf course. -Quiet: It is well off alii Drive, so no road noise or traffic. Being the last building in the complex, it is surrounded by ocean or golf course and little pedestrian traffic. Very peaceful feeling here. We were surprised to find that there is even an ancient heiau (temple) archeological site just 20 feet off the lanai. -Upscale and modern design: We thought we were staying in a private residence. It appers to be freshly remodeled as everything looks new and very clean. Furniture was upscale and not the usual rental condo rattan stuff. Only natural stone on floors and countertops, and stainless appliances in kithen. Both TVs were flat panal Lcds. Highly recommended, I am definitely coming back here to this unit. Probably the nicest condo for rent on the island.
