Great view, service, and value!

I booked a trip here about a month out. The place was clean, instructions were well detailed, and the property was beautiful! This is a great value for a place to stay on the big island. I was worried about no AC but the condo stayed comfortable and it was great to leave the doors cracked at night for a breeze off the ocean. I highly recommend this spot! less

Amazing location with unforgettable view

Great and spacious apartment with an unforgettable view. Had everything we needed, including washer/dryer, boogie boards and sun umbrella. We had every breakfast on the lanai and could have stayed there for hours. The grounds are very well kept. The apartment has no AC so the fans were appreciated. Thank you, Todd, for letting us stay in your apartment. less

Surf club review

We had a great time in Keahou but too short! Loved the snorkeling at Two Step and Kahalu’u, and the grandkids loved the pool as well. We had a minor plumbing emergency which the property manager was super responsive to- fixed while we were out for a few hours. Loved the proximity of the ocean! less

Great condo in perfect location

I looked at a million condos on all different rental sites and was fortunate to find this unit directly through Aloha condos and saved hundreds of dollars booking it directly. The condo was clean and functional and well stocked. The location right on the beautiful rocky coast, ground level was perfect. Todd and his team were responsive from my first inquiry until check out. I highly reccommed Keauhou Kona Surf and Raquet club for amenities and location. Right up the street was a shopping center with a great, well priced sports bar and fantastic italian and sushi restautants and grocery store. The location was far enough away from Kona town but in a good place to explore the Big Island. We had a wonderful week long stay at this condo. Highly recommend! less

Magical

My family and I staid here in September, and we all loved it! The view was magical! We got to see the best sunsets from the comfort of our bed and living room. The area is clean, gated, and safe! The kitchen is remodeled and looks better in person than in the pictures. This is the second time we stay here and we will keep coming back! less

Beautiful location

This is a beautiful unit in need of some upgrades. Some of the furniture was broken and the sliding doors/screens need to be worked on. The location was fantastic and we enjoyed our stay. Will return.

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for taking the time to comment about the condo. The furniture and sliding screen doors have been replaced.

Great Place

2-102 is in a great location to the shoreline, BBQ area and pool. Being on the ground floor, we were able to walk out to the rocks, or place our chairs on the grass and enjoy the cool breeze. The condo unit needed some work. Some of the louvered windows were not able to open, the ceiling fan in the 2nd bdrm did not work properly, there were ants and roaches (being from Maui, I was used to that), and the screen doors needed work as well. Portable fans needed cleaning. Otherwise, everything else worked fine. Checking in was easy and Mr. Aki was very easy to work with and knows about the items mentioned. Overall we had a great time with a few bugs to work out! I would recommend this unit. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for taking the time to comment about the condo. The ceiling fan has been replaced and works so much better and is easier to use. The condo has been thoroughly dusted and cleaned. We had a pest control company treat for ants and roaches. The glass doors wheels have been replaced and the sliding screen doors replaced.

Amazing location and views

This condo was excellent value for money. It was extremely clean and comfortable. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you for providing such a fantastic place to stay. The only criticism I have is out of the Condo owners control, and that is the people staying in the condo directly above were very noisy all day and night....even into the early hours of the morning. It made things quite difficult to be relaxed and comfortable, and I'm sure other people staying nearby would have felt the same. Loud music, smoking directly outside and being quite obnoxious for the whole time we were there. less

August 2022 stay

My family had a wonderful time at this well equipped condo with a stunning sea view. The sunset from the terrace was beautiful. We actually drove up to Mauna Kea to see the stars and sunset but to be honest the sunset was better at the condo! The supermarket is 2 mins up the road and the closest beach (also about 2 minutes) is like swimming in an aquarium. We snorkelled with turtles and yellow tangs and rainbow fish... We didn't really want to leave! The owner is clear that the condo is not airconditioned but has ceiling fans and standing fans for use. It was hot overnight but with the fans and the sea breeze, we had no complaints. Just a shame Kona is so far from home.. less

Over the Moon

We stayed at Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Condo 2 - 102 for 9 nights (July 24 - Aug 2/22). When we arrived, we were ‘over-the-moon’ happy with the condo we had rented. It was open-concept and very spacious, with a sweeping ocean view in one direction; and an exotic jungle-like view in the other direction. The kitchen had a granite countertop and was extremely well equipped with dishes and cooking utensils; while all of the appliances were in perfect working order. There were two bathrooms which were handy for a family of four; and the two spacious bedrooms offered comfortable beds. Although there was no air conditioning in the unit, the many ceiling fans and refreshing breezes off the ocean (mere steps away) more than compensated for this. Also, the oceanfront lanai provided a quiet and perfect setting for my early-morning coffee dates (with myself); and a great place to watch the nightly sunset from. Finally, the owners of this property (Todd and Bic), were very kind and easy to do business with. Heather Brost (the Brost Family) North Saanich British Columbia, Canada less

Location, Location, Location!

One of the best things about our trip was being just a couple dozen feet from the Ocean. We could literally walk out of the back sliding door and be within putting distance of the shoreline. We fell asleep each night listening to the sounds of the waves, it was awesome. Being on the west side of the island meant we got to watch the sunset on the ocean which alone was worth the price of admission. And in the mornings we often saw some dolphins swimming by a couple hundred yards off shore - they were playful too. A few hundred feet down the shoreline is a place you can snorkel. Be careful if you do so you don't get a "Hawaiian tattoo" (getting stung by a sea urchin). If you do, apply a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar to the wound. And wear coral friendly sun tan lotion if you're going to swim in the ocean. The place has access to a nice pool. The lock box entrance was convenient and we also enjoyed access to a BBQ grill. less

Great location!

Can’t beat the location! Right on the ocean and lovely views. The grounds are well kept and very tropical. Loved the pool and the condo had all the expected amenities.

— Amanda, Stayed 07/14/2022

Wonderful location

We loved this location and the condo was fantastic. The only thing I would say is that while there are racquet courts available, you need to bring your own rackets and balls which we didn’t know. Same with the volleyball net. The unit does have a nice supply of beach equipment including 2 snorkel sets. We would stay again! less

vacation home

The condo is located in a beautiful coast line in Kona. It has an amazing ocean and sunset view from the backyard condo. We enjoyed the wave sound at night time and safe and quite in a gated community. We would love to come back and spend more time in the island again :) less

Return guest

We’ve stayed in the shoreside condos at the Surf & Racquet Club at least 5 different times. Like the other stays 2-102 did not disappoint. It was what we expected and hoped for. As we get older, the convenience of ground floor was appreciated. It was nice to be able to walk out on the grass, to the side walk and get a surprise ocean spray. No complaints— only complements to 2-102 on being was expected. less

Great well equipped condo

We very much enjoyed our stay at this condo-it had everything you might need to enjoy your time in Kona. Can’t think of anything that would have made it better -except AC - but it was December in Hawaii so wasn’t bad at all. The view, the lanai, the easy parking, the well stocked supplies (detergent, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, hand soap, dish detergent, cooking basics) also beach items like coolers and chairs and boogie board and more in the extra bedroom closet. We loved staying here and would stay again if we come back to Hawaii! less

Oceanfront condo

This was our first visit to this condo and we were very pleased with how open planned and clean everything was. Great location, nice dishes and linens so everything was supplied. We were very impressed with all the photographic artwork on the walls - just beautiful. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you less

Great Oceanfront Kauai Condo

Our family enjoyed this attractive, roomy, very comfortable condo with unobstructed, full ocean view. The condo looks like it was recently renovated and it was done so in a very tasteful, up-to-date and color-coordinated style. The condo looked better than the pictures/video. I also love the up-to-date kitchen and how it opens up to the rest of the common areas and the view. This was important to us because during this pandemic, we cooked all of our breakfast meals and ate it on the patio. We also bought most dinners to-go and ate on the patio. The patio has a better ocean view than most restaurants so it worked out well. I gave the condo 5 stars although I do suggest that it might be time to replace the the guest bathroom shower faucets/spout that are rusting. It is one of those minor improvements that gives a big return as far as appearance. I live on the waterfront as well so I have the same issue with fixtures rusting quickly. There is no AC but with the fans we were comfortable during our visit in mid-September. However, we were diligent about making sure the thermal window-coverings were always drawn in any room that currently had direct sunlight. We also were usually not in the condo during the peak sunlight hours. Will stay here again. less

10 great days in Kona

We stayed 10days in 2-102 and it was terrific. Good location, well kept up, wi-FI I worked well. All was good. Could use a little bit better quality kitchen utensils, but hardly an issue to get worked up about.

Exceptional relaxing view from the lanai, Everything we needed was there including beach chairs, cooler and toys. Loved this unit!

— Lisa, Stayed 05/15/2021

It was well needed!

Our family needed this get away! I still can’t believe how easy it was and how convenient . The unit was located perfectly on the bottom floor balcony looked over the ocean. Beautiful sunset views close to stores parking stall also close. It was well stocked with what we needed and more. I was worried at first there was no AC and as we entered it was really warm but honestly once we opened the windows it became comfortable. Thank you 🙏 We would definitely comeback. less

— Drake, Stayed 07/26/2020

Almost perfect! We really wanted to stay....

The condo was well stocked with everything we needed for a one week stay. The sunsets were AMAZING!! Every night we sat outside and had cocktails while this was happening right in front of us, on the lanai - the ocean as the backdrop! Super comfortable furnishings, and the bed was comfy as well! Kitchen was well stocked with all the tools & utensils we needed as well. There are coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, and other stuff available to enjoy your time at the beach too! The only thing that I found a bit irritating is that at 11:30ish every night we were woken to the sound of sprinklers going off right outside the master bedroom. They were super loud, and at times it even sounded like one or more were malfunctioning and water was hitting the walls with a ton of force! So bring earplugs if you are like me and are used to quiet when sleeping. I am guessing the owners cannot do anything about the timing of these sprinklers, but it just would make much more sense to either program them to go off easier in the evening or even after 7 or 8 AM. Just saying.... We will most probably be back! less

We really enjoyed our stay. We loved being ocean front and listening to the waves. The condo was very well equipped. I would add a light blanket for cool nights on the lanai. The remodeled kitchen and master bath shower were great.

Hawaiian family vacation

Condo was on the water. Very nice and comfortable. A bit too warm especially during night due to no air conditioning. The grounds were beautiful with lots to do. Wish the coastal walkway was longer and at least made a route where you did not come to a dead end. Overall, very nice. less

Nice Condo with a Great View

We have stayed at the Surf and Racquet Club numerous times in numerous units. This ground floor unit was nice, well equipped but looked like it was being upgraded and was 3/4 done. The kitchen was really nicely done but the dishwasher door was troublesome as it didn't always close without some effort. The bedrooms were very spacious and well equipped with fans but they could really use air conditioning. Bathrooms were good but the tub and shower's could have been a little cleaner as they had a considerable amount of buildup on the tile. The patio had a great table and lounge chairs but the glazing on the windows of the patio doors was peeling off and flaking which detracted from the great view you have from this unit. The unit had plenty of towels and beach accessories like chairs, umbrella's, kids toys and coolers. One last concern was that the front door handle and latch didn't always close properly. There was a few times we could just push on the door and it opened. This is a fantastic location, great amenities, close to shopping, beaches and very quiet. I would stay in this unit again only when they finished the renovations and improved the front door handle and lock. less

Thanksgiving in Kona

My overall rating for the condo is a 4.5. The condo is about 5-6 miles south of central Kona. This was our third time on the Big Island and I/we only stay in condos. My wife and I traveled with our three children, ages 13, 10 and 8, so we only stay in condos, because they make us feel more like a home. The condo was on the ground floor, was very spacious and had a killer ocean view. The view from the lanai at sunset is priceless! The condo had a full kitchen and washer and dryer, (which are must haves), when we travel. The condo was clean and met most of our expectations, with the exception of AC. I would rate the condo a 5, if it had AC. I have to say that I'm spoiled living in San Diego, where we don't get the humidity- like in Hawaii. After the first night, we learned that we needed to open the kitchen and bedroom windows and allow the air to circulate and naturally cool down the condo. Parking was hassle free and the kids loved the pool. There is also a nearby shopping center with a movie theater, numerous restaurants and a great little grocery store. Even without AC, we would definitely stay there again. less

Lovely!

I have stayed in several units there at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club over the years. This lovely, cared for, impeccably matinee and beautifully updated is by far one of the best. Everything you need is there. Owners really pride in there home. The sounds and the views of the ocean right at your doorstep are so refreshing and calming. The moment you walk in until the time you’ll be regretting that you have to leave, every minute is astounding. Location, location, location. Quality, quality, quality. Will definitely try to rent again. If it’s available........GRAB IT! Guaranteed, you won’t be disappointed. less

Great condo! Nice and quiet. Open the sliding doors and there's the ocean. The condo was nice and clean and had several additional amenities that were useful including beach chairs, fins, umbrella. Was nice having some spices and condiments also. We couldn't find the beach towels however they were delivered right away. Would recommend this place for some relaxation. If you want to take a little stroll, there's a beach (not sand) where the turtles eat and play and also great tidepools at low tide. less

Our stay

We really enjoyed waking up to the sound of the waves and seeing the beautiful ocean. The kitchen had everything we needed and the house even had a few beach items like chairs and umbrellas. We would have loved air conditioning. It was unbearable at night with the heat. Maybe even stand up fans would have helped. Kids loved the pool and the huge mango tree in the complex...yummm less

Lovely view to wake up to

Our stay at the aloha condos was lovely The condo was clean and neat The bed was very comfortable and every morning I woke up to a beautiful view of the ocean It was a little hard living without air-conditioning but once we got used to the temperature it was fine. The kitchen was clean and efficient everything worked well Outside of our room was a lovely short walking area overlooking the ocean I would prefer a nice sandy beach however we enjoyed ourselves very much less

— Mitzi , Stayed 05/24/2019

Great View

The view from this condo is truly priceless - there was nothing better than waking up to the sound of the waves and the ocean out your door. We watched dolphins from our lanai and enjoyed the sunsets every night. The location of the resort is great - close to everything in Kona and many great snorkeling spots. As far as the condo goes, the beds were extremely comfortable which is always so important when traveling. There were however issues at this condo - possibly due to its age. The electrical outlet in the bathroom did not work when we arrived and it took a few days for it to be fixed. The dishwasher and sink were having issues a week into our stay and had to have a plumber come by to fix the problem. The wi-fi went out every single day - sometimes multiple times per day. We made the local manager aware a few different times but nothing was ever done about it. There were quite a few cockroaches in the unit and the pool which we had never encountered before while visiting the Big Island. We were also told by the owner that we could have a late check out on our last day and were expecting to have the condo until 5 pm. The cleaner showed up at 11 am and told us that they booked a last minute reservation and we had to leave. We unfortunately were not at all ready and half of my family was out snorkeling for the morning. The cleaner was amazing and accommodating but the local manager never made us aware of this last minute reservation and never got back to me like he said he would to find a solution that worked for everyone. We were disappointed in the unit for these reasons and frustrated with the end of our holiday due to the check out issue. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you very much for your thorough review of your stay with us. We are very happy you enjoyed the view, that is why we fell in love with the condo. We really appreciate all of your comments about ways we can improve the condo for our future guests and we will be working very closely with our local contact to make those changes. As for the confusion of the late check out, we are very sorry for the mishap and we agree the situation was poorly handled. The reservation was made the day before your check out day. We are working with our local contact to make sure this situation will not happen again. Again, we apologize and feel so sorry you had to end your vacation this way. Thank you very much for your reservation with us. Aloha, Todd and Bic

Amazing view!

We had been able to enjoy staying at the condo by good location, amazing view from the lanai, and the remodeled new kitchen and the other!

— Taeko, Stayed 04/18/2019

Good family unit

The unit is nicely set-up for families, with a fairly well-stocked kitchen (including dishwashing detergent, plenty of tea towels etc) and basic laundry facilities. We used all of the beds (including the sofa bed) and found them to be satisfactory. We should have been prepared (but weren't!) for how hot the place gets in the afternoon - as the unit faces west, the setting sun beats straight into the unit and tends to warm the whole place up considerably. There are shade screens inside the unit which do a decent job, so long as you're ok with hanging about indoors for the late afternoon. We found it was best to head out to the pool or find some shade until sunset, after which the lanai is a lovely place to sit. The shops are a 15-20 min walk up a steep hill, and include a standard supermarket and some OK eateries. We were able to resolve any issues or questions very quickly during our stay. less

Lovely condo and loved the ocean sounds

We enjoyed our stay at the condo very much. Well stocked and great location to the ocean. Tennis courts were new and enjoyed playing in the evening before the obligatory sun downer. Kitchen is newer and only had a problem with the dishwasher that was scheduled for repair. Would stay again.. less

Immaculate grounds.

Went to Kona with family. As usual we try to find an oceanfront condo at an affordable price. Just happened upon one with all of our requirements. So happy with our choice and will definitely stay again. Very quiet condo/townhouse resort with immaculate grounds. The tennis courts and pool are very well maintained. And it seems to have a real community feel. Now for the best part, the Kona sunsets! And most of all nothing beats pounding waves to put you to sleep. I’ll be back! Mahalo less

Great spot!

The condo is fantastic. We ate all our meals out on the lanai with the gorgeous view of the ocean and beautiful waves on the rocks. Plus having a grill area and being so close to the shopping center. The beach area was also nice in that there were very few guests using it at any one time. Would also like to highly recommend a trip to Kula Kai Caverns on the road to Hilo. Call ahead to reserve a tour of the lava tubes. Great vacation! Thanks for your hospitality. less

Fabulous Location

We loved our two week stay at this condo! The location was fabulous! Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is a beautiful place - the pool area has been recently updated and the landscaping is immaculate. The condo itself has wonderful views and we were able to watch Humpback Whales right from our Lanai. The gorgeous sunsets every evening were an event in themselves. This Condo's kitchen has been recently renovated and looks good. Comfortable place to stay. less

Loved it

We all loved the place, and wished we could stay longer. Unless one needs to be walking distance to restaurants and a swimming beach, this is the place to stay. Wonderful accommodations!!

Condo was perfect! Kitchen was recently updated and very user friendly. No air conditioning (not needed in my opinion) ceiling fans worked along with having the sliders open and the screens closed. Great ground floor condo, and owner/management that are great to deal with!

Just want to thank Todd and Aki for offering a fantastic condo, with lots of extras to use for day trips like coolers, chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas etc. We made good use of it all! The condo is right on the ocean which I love hearing the waves at night, beds are comfortable, sheets were new and really nice. Showers had good pressure and everything was nice and clean. I recommend this rental because the people you deal with are very accommodating and do their most to make your stay as comfortable as possible, they responded to all my emails promptly and just seemed to want to make sure I had a great stay, which we did. Thanks to Brandon, the local contact as well for stopping by to make sure we were happy with the unit, all good people. less

— Scott, Stayed 08/28/2018

Good value

We enjoyed our stay here- the Keauhou is very well located and has a gorgeous ocean front location, with a large ground level lanai looking over the ocean. The unit itself is dated. But the rental price reflects this, and so it offers good value. There are rust stains, chipped tiles, and salt air damage. But how could there not be salt damage this close to the ocean? We traveled in July and it was very hot. The trade winds were not blowing and the unit, without air conditioning, was hot. It is an easy walk to the snorkeling beach- and an easy walk to a large shopping center. We recommend this unit as a well priced ocean front condo in a very beautifully landscaped condo complex. less

My family stayed with Aloha Condos July 30 - August 5, 2018. Though our condo unit (2-102) was a little older than what my sisters/their families stayed at, we made the most of it. We did have an ocean view, so was great in that respect! Since the unit had no A/C, just ceiling fans, we slept with the screen doors opened at night. (These screens didn't lock, so that is something I hope can be remedied soon, fortunately, we didn't run into any issues.) We enjoyed walking in the mornings to a nearby beach or to the Keauhou Shopping Mall for leisure. We were able to use beach equipment (towels, boogie boards, masks) for trips to play in the ocean, plus the sunscreen in the unit was very much appreciated! The washer/dryer unit was handy, so if we stay again, it would allow us to pack lightly! We were very grateful that Todd Akey and his unit manager worked with us, to allow a later checkout time. (We flew out at 8:50pm) The unit fit our budget and immediate needs, plus is close to nearby shopping and beaches. Thank you for making our trip to Kailua-Kona a memorable one! 😎 less

Great location with beautiful views!

I stayed here with my two adult daughters and we had a wonderful time. The condo was clean and comfortable and I loved listening to the waves as I fell asleep each night. The only irritating thing that had nothing to do with the condo was that one of the upstairs occupants poured sunflower seeds off their deck and onto the lawn for the birds every morning and the birds made a mess with them on the lanai. We swept it up every day though and I’m sure that doesn’t happen all the time. It was just a bit messy! less

Great oceanfront view

We have stayed at KKSR many times though not in this unit. We like the lovely property grounds, quiet Keauhou location, shopping and Kailua-kona close by. Best of all you can walk to Kahalauu beach park for snorkeling. Prior reviews of this unit seem pretty accurate. The unit is first floor oceanfront and the view amazing. The price was great for our longer stay in July 2018. Check-in instructions easy to follow. It was clean with plenty of beach gear, towels, etc. The 'but' is that furniture, rugs, and overall condition of the unit are pretty tired and need replacement. It's not going to be a good fit for everyone. We'd consider it again depending on price and condition. less

Loved It!!!

What a spectacular place to stay! Surf and Racquet Club is so conveniently located. The view from the Lanai is breathtaking to watch sunsets and dolphins swim by. The condo is very comfortable with great energy. Close to a lot activities. Loved our Stay!!! Mahalo

Beautiful veiw but a little dated

The location was very convenient and the view was stunning both in the morning and in the evening. Although there were no air conditioners, the fans were sufficient. The layout was nice and there was enough room for the 4 of us with the kids having their own beds. The kitchen was sufficient and was stocked. There were a few issues we had with the rental. 1. Communication wasn't great and it took some time to answer inquiries. 2. There was no hairdryer 3. A lot of things were rusted (i.e., sliding door rails on the closet, fans in bathroom), sticky (i.e., dressers, hangers,) or dirty (lounge chair in the living room, carpets). This could be because of the salt water and the proximity to the ocean, but it was not esthetically pleasing and didn't feel clean 4. Tree trimming was happening during our stay and when we arrived, there was a notice on our front door. We had to move our car from the designated spot EVERY morning before 8am. It was our vacation and we had to set an alarm to move our car or the gardeners got very upset. I can understand 1-2 mornings, but ALL 4 mornings was a little ridiculous. 5. The binder of information for the condo was falling apart. It's the details for me that make a difference. That being said, the new lanai furniture was nice and the convenience of being close to Kahalu'u Beach was a bonus. The pool facilities and the gated property was beautifully maintained. The washer/dryer was helpful along with the boogie boards and mats that were available to us to use was an added bonus to staying here over a hotel. Overall, it was just okay for me. For the price of this place, it would only be worth it if we used the facilities more (i.e., pool, bbqs, tennis courts), but instead we spent more time in town eating/shopping which was about 10 minutes away. The location and view is what I used it for mostly. less

Nice layout, great view, nice neighborhood

We miss the old Keauhou Beach Hotel but am glad we found the Surf & Racquet Club right next door. It's an established, quiet neighborhood, and you can't get much closer to the crashing waves. These condo units are very well laid out, perfect for 2 couples/friends traveling together, as the bedrooms are on opposite sides with a door that can be closed in between so each is private. Love the open feel and lanai dining. Beds are comfortable and furniture is nice. We like having a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Some things may need to be checked out: the screen doors are "sticky", living room mirrors are showing some wear, some of the smaller appliances (blender, rice cooker, toaster/oven) need to be fixed or replaced. We never found the hair dryer. We understand the salt air makes it hard to keep up on maintenance and consider them minor issues and easily fixed. Overall we really enjoyed this lovely condo and would return. less

Beautiful sunset condo

This condo has a fantastic location. In a slightly older smaller complex, it is on the ground floor for easy access, faces the sunset, and set up with everything to make your stay feel like home. Beach towels and chairs, washer and dryer, and enough furniture for lots of seating. We were there in the winter so the ceiling fans were enough to keep it cool during the day. since the year round temperates don't vary that much this may be fine in the summer too. The support staff were very responsive. We could walk to the grocery store too. Good central local for the whole island. I highly recommend this Kona get away. less

Great Location for a Relaxing Stay

We had a very relaxing 3 night stay at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club and were very impressed with the complex which had beautiful gardens and extremely well maintained. The unit was located on the ground floor and was right on the ocean which was perfect and so nice to fall asleep listening to the crashing waves. Although the condo was old school, it was clean and comfortable The beach equipment that was supplied to use was great and we snorkelled everyday. Although not right in town it is in a nice neighbourhood and a fantastic snorkelling location was in walking distance from the condo. Overall it was a good place to stay while in Kona. less

Wonderfully located in front of the ocean with gorgeous sunsets. The property is very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Close to the best snorkeling area in Hawaii, where the turtles hang out, and not too far from the charming Kona.

Nice location, very clean condo!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo! It was SUPER clean and comfortable! We stay in the Keauhou area frequently because we like the location -- midway between a lot of places we like to visit. The condo was particularly clean, well-kept, and well-appointed. We are used to sleeping on 100% cotton sheets, so the cotton-poly blend ones didn't feel comfortable to us. No problem, we slept on the cotton beach towels! less

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at this condo. The check in and checkout was very easy. The house was clean. It was already equipped with essential things like pool towels and a couple of rackets. One could use the pool and tennis court in the club, although we did not, because there was not enough time cause there was so much to do on the island. It is convenient close to downtown Kona. review of the above

excellent location, beautiful view and well appointed for our needs, nice patio, good kitchen . Apartment is a "little tired" with couch needing a new covering. One of the lawn chairs was broken and one of the burners on the stove didn't work. Sliding screens and doors need some work as sticky and don't close or slide easily. Appreciated the good fridge and clothes washer and dryer. less

Great location!

My family & I enjoyed our stay in condo 2-102. The unit is ocean front with a comfortable lanai & shared grass area & a beautiful sunset view each evening. It is conveniently close to downtown Kona, but far enough away from the hustle & bustle. Great shopping center right up the street made buying food, drug store items & dining very easy. Snorkeling & beach gear available in the condo was very helpful as well as beach towels. The pool was good, not the most kid friendly with all of the rules, but good for a dip. We enjoyed the lit tennis courts & it was nice to have a couple of rackets & balls in the condo for our use. The condo was clean & comfortable. I was able to spend time in a nearby unit in the same complex which had recently been updated very nicely & was a little more well appointed in the kitchen. 2-102 could use a little sprucing up & could use a few more kitchen items, but it was great for our family purposes. I would definitely stay in this unit again. less

Seaside Love

We have stayed at the Surf and Raquet Club many times but never in an oceanfront unit. Now we highly recommend it and won't go back to one further away from the water. Being able to listen to the ocean all night was wonderful! The owners have put some love into the unit recently, including a new flat screen (big!) while we were there. They still have some work to do in the kitchen, especially with the stovetop (not all burners work so hunt for the ones that do). We appreciated all of the beach chairs, boogie boards, and other gear. Thank you! The only downside to the whole visit was the number of cockroaches and other bugs that some how got in the unit (we kept all screens and front door closed religiously). Having never seen a cockroach before all I can say is wow, big! We started calling them cat food and threw them out to cat that hangs around the premises. Maybe if the association starts spraying more often they can knock the bugs back (never had this problem at this complex before). less

Great Location but needs some Updates

The location is great that it's little bit away from the busy area of Kona, but it's only 10 mins drive. The place is also close to one of the well-know snorkeling spot and some stores and restaurants. But there were several things we didn't like... First NOBODY informed us that the swimming pool is under the construction. We're really planning to use the swimming pool especially I'm pregnant and I feel more comfortable swimming there rather than the ocean. And we happened to find the note on the wall that the water will be shut down for a half day on our 3rd day stay there... These information needs to be informed to us in advance rather than we find out after we get there. Also we didn't expect that there was no AC which also needs to be addressed on their website... Without AC and one of the sliding doors at the living room was broken, and the fan on the second bedroom (with 2 twin beds) are broken... which was very inconvenient when there is no AC in the condo. We weren't able to stay in the condo as much as we wanted because it was too hot to stay there. The condo needs some updates. less

We stayed at this location once before so we know the beauty of the grounds and all the amenities. Our stay at Condo 2-102 was relaxing with great views of the ocean as we mainland spent most of our time on the lanai. The condo was neat and clean, needs a bit of updating and a fresh coat of paint. Excellent Stay

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The condo is in a fantastic location: the lanai opens out to a beautiful oceanfront view, it's within walking distance to a great snorkeling beach and the Keauhou Shopping Center...plus it's far enough from Kailua to miss the traffic, but close enough to easily access town when you want. Aside from the location, the condo itself is roomy, clean, the beds are comfortable, and there is all the bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, and beach stuff you could need (beach chairs, snorkeling stuff, boogie boards, mats, etc.). The Surf & Racquet grounds themselves are clean and well-maintained. The description of the condo said there would be a proximity card to allow you easy access to the grounds when entering, but it was not at the condo when we arrived. Hopefully, that will be addressed because it would be helpful. The only real negative about the condo is that it is need of some TLC. The interior is a little long in the tooth. The entire place could use a good paint job, a good cleaning of the living room upholstery (or new upholstery) and some art on the walls. The lanai could use an overhead fan and better lighting. In short, the place feels a little tired and could use more attention to detail. That said, it was all clean and functional and the location is stellar. In short, clean place in a good location, but could use some sprucing up. We'd definitely return. less

The sunsets were breathtaking

Aloha as mentioned above the sunsets were breathtaking. We, 5 adults and 1 5 month old.really enjoyed. Our nephew , his wife and daughter are visiting from LA.. Being islanders and living on this island we have always stayed in hotels, usually for 2 nights at a time for a get away. My nephew mentioned condo. I found you and was taken by the reviews describing the sunsets and tropical breeze. Upon arriving the condo was in excellent clean condition . My niece was sad as there was no hot water in kitchen, she had baby bottles to wash. The following day my husband checked under kitchen sink and found out hot water was turned off. (We found out from caretaker work was being done on cabinets day before). Then on 2nd day the toilet on 2nd bathroom was leaking.I thought maybe someone brushing teeth had spilled water. My husband said no toilet leaks and call Ken. I called Ken and he came over and confirmed leak. We used the barbecue area to cook and wee very pleased. I faced time with family in Washington D/C my ailing aunt was married in Hawaii in 1955. She enjoyed the veiw and all enjoyed the condo also. Will come back.Mahalo nui Aloha less

Mrs

First of all, when we arrived and opened the kitchen cabinet, there were hundreds of ants coming from an open bag of sugar. They trailed over the microwave and all over the kitchen window. My husband immediately emptied the cabinet and removed the sugar. We called the caretaker and she came over and waned the shelves don with a disinfectant, however she did not spray as the cn she had in her car was empty. She no longer left and the ants were back so rather than call her we decided to go to the store no purchase a can ourselves. The next day, the outside gardener was talking to us and my husband asked if he had spray for ants and he sprayed inside and outside, where they originate. Sir, you pay a caretaker, who certainly should have spotted this and also a cleaning lady should have done so too. When the lady came we asked about the wifi and she said she noticed that the binder was not in the condo when he made her inspection prior to us getting there. She did give me the wifi password, however ever brought the book, which probably would have helped us to know what channels were what on the tv. We noticed that your service does not have a local channel, at least we were ever able to fine it. There were several minor things that my husband repaired, i.e. Loose doorknob, flusher on one of the toilets, the lock on the front door was loose and the master bathroom toilet seat was very loose and consequently broke the last day. I sound like a complaint department but I am merely telling you things that I know you are not aware of. I also contacted you prior to coming there asking if there was a washe and dryer and hair dryer. The washer and drye was there, thankfully (soap included which I did not expect, thank you), however there was no hair dryer. We checked all of the cabinets and closets Ned if there was one, it certainly was t in plain view. Your view is outstanding and we experienced beautiful sunsets. I hope you understand that I donor mean to complain but merely telling you things that you are not aware of. If you would like to contact us further, p,ease feel free to do so. less

We are very sorry for the ant incident as that should never have happened and should have been corrected promptly. Thank you again for your reservation with us. Todd & Bic, Owners

Love the Surf and Racquet Club

We enjoyed your Kona condo.. We know you gave us a great rate. We have stayed at the Surf and Racquet Club several times, we found this location safe, quiet and relaxing. The condo was very clean. We noticed the nice updates you've made. My wife suggests the kitchen next. She had trouble with the two front burners on the stove. She would also like to suggest that the knives be sharpened and maybe let the renters know there isn't a hairdryer. Perhaps a small bar of soap for those who would prefer that instead of the wall unit. Also , there is only a code to get in the gate, no card. It has changed since the renters packet was undated. All that said we had a great time, great stay and we loved the beach chairs. We would stay here again without a second thought. Thank you so much for the use of your condo. less

Two weeks in paradise

We stayed in 2-102 for 2 weeks in Sept/Oct. Although this wasn't our first choice unit, we were pleasantly surprised. (The condo we had booked in bldg 1 had a pipe burst 2 weeks before our arrival, and we had to scramble at the last minute to find another unit! This one was available). You can't beat the oceanfront view. We loved having breakfast on the lanai and watching the spinner dolphins go by, and the sunsets every night. Just a quick 1 min drive to Kahalu'u Beach where we snorkelled most mornings and always saw turtles and lots of fish. Shopping with grocery store, drug store, several restaurants is just up the road. Close to Keauhou Bay where you get on the boat for any tours. (We did the manta ray snorkel and morning snorkel with Sea Paradise - highly recommended! The Sea Paradise office is in the shopping plaza too). The condo is well-stocked. Had everything we needed in the kitchen, and lots of beach gear (chairs, boogie boards, two coolers, pool noodles, and more that we didn't use). Also had some spices in the cupboard, and butter in the fridge. The decor wasn't our style (but who cares since we don't live there!), and everything was very clean. We got a mid-stay cleaning after 1 week, which was really nice! Patio furniture was nice. We liked having a washer/dryer in the unit. Beds were a bit soft, and we didn't like that the patio screen doors didn't close properly so small bugs and moths came in at night through the small gap (attracted to the light). It wasn't a huge problem. No a/c but we didn't mind. With the windows open and ceiling fans on, we were comfortable. Complex itself is quite quiet, but I did find people arriving and leaving were a bit noisy in the stairways. Being on the ground floor, we did get a fair amount of traffic past the front door. We could also hear the people in the unit above us walking around, but the one person seemed to have an especially heavy foot. I'm a light sleeper so that was an annoyance for me, but it didn't bother my husband at all. All in all, we loved our stay and can't wait to go back! less

Nice complex, but unit-2102 desperately needs renovation

The complex itself was nice. The location is okay. Close to a shopping center with a grocery store and several restaurants. A snorkeling beach within walking distance. A small beach for swimming just a few miles away. The water is inaccessible for swimming from this location, but that is not uncommon in Kona. The unit itself was not pleasant and I would not book it again. It looks like there had been no maintenance or upgrading done since the unit was originally built. The levered windows on the front window of the unit did not work properly. Only one set would actually open, the other 2 sets were rusted shut. The screen in the kitchen window was open. The appliances were outdated. The dishwasher was disgusting. It was home to several cockroaches and was so rusted that pieces of the dish rack were falling off. We had to wash the dishes by hand before we felt comfortable using them. The master bed was small and probably the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. While the room was 'clean', everything in it was very old and showing obvious wear. The carpet and furniture looked to be several decades old. I'm sure this place was very nice in the 1980's. The only plus was that it was oceanfront and had a good sized lanai. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you very much for taking some time to review our condo. We always appreciate our guests comments since it helps us improve our services for our future guests. As you can imagine, with bookings made months and even years in advance, it can be a balancing act to address maintenance issues as they arise while also respecting the privacy and comfort of our guests. Our tropical environment presents an ongoing challenge both inside and out. Since taking on responsibility for this condo a little less than a year ago I know that the sliding doors have had rollers and screen replaced, the tile on the lanai has been replaced, the entry window has been remodeled, and just this week the screen on that same window has been replaced (after being ordered weeks ago when its frame broke). The controls on the window will now be replaced this week. The owners and I are also in the process of replacing the dishwasher. The lanai furniture and lamps throughout the unit were also replaced during this period. Yes, there is more to be done...and we are working on it whenever time permits. The entire KKSRC complex receives quarterly pest control treatments...inside and out. We also respond as soon as possible when bugs are discovered between treatments. My contact information is clearly posted in the condo and in the reservation materials which are given to our guests. At no time was I contacted during their stay. I could have been there within hours to deal with some of the concerns that are raised in this review. We sincerely do strive to help our guests have a truly "aloha" experience. The property is admittedly far from new. At the same time, the majority of our guests find it clean and comfortable...in a very affordable oceanfront setting. We are working to make it even better. Had a wonderful stay

This is the third or fourth time we have stayed at a oceanfront Keauhou Surf & Racquet Club Condo. This was the first time on a ground floor. And it was ideal for our 7 & 11 yr. old granddaughters and their parents who joined us for just over a week. Their favorite activity was in snorkeling at the Kahalu'u Beach. But they also swam daily in the Resort pool as well. They loved seeing the different birds and finding gekos. They also earned state and National Park badges and didn't stint on the great sightseeing on the Big Island. My wife was a little disappointed in the condition of the condo as compared with other Surf & Racquet Club condos. She sent in a review card for you. We well understand the maintanence diffeculties in a shoreside facility. But the rusted components in the dishwasher and in the guest shower, we felt should have been addressed. The absence of a tray for carrying food to the lanai was also felt daily. She also commented in her review about some other things lacking in a condo kitchen. The guest single beds were a little uncomfortable. All and all we really enjoyed our stay. The great ocean views and wonderful weather can't be beat. Mahalo. less

Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Condo 2-102

I spent two weeks in this condo with my family. The photos of the condo on the alohoa Condos site form an accurate representation of the space. The condo, especially the kitchen, is a bit dated but it was comfortable and contained everything we needed to enjoy our stay. There were a couple items which could be improved. The lighting in the kitchen was terribly dark. Only one of the three light bulbs was functioning and there were no additional bulbs in the condo. An easy fix. A cleaner came halfway through our stay which was great however she didn't wash the sheets for the pull out couch which we had been using despite having left them aside. This was a bit disappointing because we had paid for the service as part of our reservation, but not the end of the world as there is a washing machine in the unit. We also noticed that the bed cover in the master bedroom was dirty upon arrival. I realize that often times the polyester type covers don't get cleaned but this was gross. We simply set is aside for our stay. This condo along the ocean and we enjoyed many evenings of beautiful sunsets and listening to the surf. The Club itself is very quiet and everyone was friendly. We very much enjoyed the pool and tennis courts. The nearby beach is great for watching the sunset or local fisherman but it is not a swimming or snorkeling beach. The condo is walking distance to stores, restaurants and a snorkeling beach but a drive to any swimming beaches and downtown. All in all we enjoyed our stay at this condo and would recommend it to families, older travelers, and those looking to have a hassle free vacation. Adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts may find this location a bit tame. less

Great location, beautifully landscaped grounds

I rented 2-102 from Todd for the Lavaman triathlon. The unit is nice with a great ocean view patio. The condo is fully equipped including wifi. Half a mile from a great snorkeling beach, 5 miles from Kona pier and just down the hill from a grocery store, drug store and some restaurants. I biked into Kona most mornings for coffee, Alii drive is mostly flat and has a wide bike lane all the way to town. The grounds are gorgeous, I didn't try the pool or tennis courts, but I found some racquets and balls in the closet. This was a good value for the dollar. Highly recommend. less

location, location, location

the location of the condo was amazing providing a view of the sunset so spectacular it was worth the trip to the island. The condo was well equipped including things like shampoo, body wash, laundry soap, etc. saving us some money. That was much appreciated.

Excellent View and Location!

We stayed in unit 2-102 at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club for 5 days in March. The condo was in an excellent location and had an absolutely amazing view which we enjoyed with our fresh Kona coffee every morning and throughout the day. The condo is a bit tired but it was clean and had everything we needed - most condiments, beach towels, snorkel gear, and tennis racquets as well as Dvds for the kids which were put to good use in the evening. Communication with Todd was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would stay here again if we ever come back to Kona. less

Best position condo in the complex

We had the pleasure of watching a pod of spinner dolphins right out front of this condo. The sunsets were magnificent and everything about the condo was wonderful. Very spacious and great location, highly recommended.

This comfortable condo has an ocean view and is in a great locat

We spent a week in this condo in late September and had a great time. The arrangements were easy to make and all our questions were answered. We sipped our morning coffee on the lanai while watching outrigger canoes, fishing boats and dolphins pass by. The furniture is comfortable inside and out, and extras include beach and snorkeling gear, Big Island visitor material, a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of linens. The complex is landscaped and well maintained, with a pool, tennis courts and a barbeque/picnic area, and is close to a good snorkeling beach. We enjoyed the small town of Keahou and the neighboring town of Kona. The proximity to a main highway made it convenient for us to explore other parts of the island to the north and south. less

Relaxing in Kona

We had a very relaxing visit. The location of the condo is great due to its closeness to the ocean. The unit was comfortable. It is very dated. One of the burners on the electric range did not heat.

Wow factor in a perfect Kona location!

We had a fabulous time in your beautiful, spacious waterfront condo in Kona. Excellent location walking distance to one major snorkeling beach and a short drive to the other two exceptional snorkeling beaches where we saw zillions of colorful fish, turtles, and dolphins. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Kona! less

Great location

We stayed in 2-102 from May 16-23, 2012 and had a great time. The layout of the unit was very nice and clean. Dishes, towels and even flipper, snorkels, etc were at the unit for our use. Nothing better than each morning sitting on the lanai and eating breakfast while overlooking the ocean. We like the unit and ground level of this unit and would definately stay again. less

Absolutely Perfect Spot

We enjoyed our 11 nights at 2-102. The location is perfect. We saw more whales from the lanai than on the whale watch excursion. Btw, they would come by our area looking for whales. We had everything that we needed for our time there. As previously stated, the condo could use some upgrades especially in the kitchen area. If we lived closer to Hawaii, this would be where we returned yearly. less

Just as expected!

Thanks to Todd and Bic for opening their condo to our family. It was exactly as we expected and suited us to a T! The condo was right on the water with all the accessories that a family of four required. The furnishings were as in the advert and the family enjoyed it all. The beds were soft and cozy and the breeze from the ocean cooled us in the evening. It is very quiet on this location and we were able to enjoy the evenings on the Lanai enjoying the sunset. In the morning the canoes and kayaks go by and we occasionally saw whales breaching. Fabulous! Occasionally people would walk by enjoying the view which was just fine. less

Incredible view, spacious accomodations and convenient to beache

The Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet was easy to find from the airport as well as the individual condo 2-102. Access to both the complex and the condo was a simple matter of following the owner's check-in instructions. 2-102 was light, airy and plenty big enough to accomodate four adults. It was well furnished, including beach supplies like boogie boards, beach towels and even sun screen (we didn't realize this at first and added a new boogie board to the collection. We enjoyed the ground floor unit as it didn't require us to haul things upstairs and the unit could be accessed from either the parking lot or from the water side. There was assigned parking and additional visitor parking that was always available. Of the Surf and Racquet club amenities, we used the grilling area twice and the pool once. In our view, the complex is perfectly located with quick access to beaches and Kona as well as to grocery shopping and the main highway for touring. We didn't spend a lot of time in the condo, but we did enjoy having dinner on the lanai and watching the gorgeous sunsets and sometimes whales. As mentioned, the unit was very nice, but we did notice a small ant problem in the kitchen as well as some peeling paint on the kitchen cabinets. Also, a little mold on the bathroom artwork. These were minor things and all and all we really enjoyed our stay. less

incredible location

This condo was spacious, clean, well-equipped, looked right out over the ocean, and was the right price for our family. The Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club is right in the middle of the Kona coast, making it central to beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. Some of the best snorkeling, though, was right off of the rocks of the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club! less

Look forward to our visits at 2-102

The location is terrific, and our dealings with the owners and local manager have been very positive. The carpeting has been thoroughly cleaned since last tear. The kitchen needs some upgrading. The dishwasher racks are rusting. The glassware and the dishware are a mixture of several patterns - in several cases there aren't 4 of a kind. The vaccum cleaner needs replacing. These items should be looked at, butwould not come us from returning. less

Felt like heaven on earth

This has been one of the best vacations rentals I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in over a dozen). We especially loved the convenient location to the shopping mall, our own private beach (100 yards away), and some of the best snorkeling in Hawaii just minutes away. We loved being on the ground floor and sitting out on the grass or walking out onto the path or sitting out on the picnic table to watch the sunsets. This condo was well equipped (the snorkel/beach gear is a plus), and nicely decorated. We played tennis nearly every morning on the newly resurfaced courts. This location is much more cozy and "local" feeling than being closer to Kona-Kailua town. The sound of the ocean and warm breezes through the screen doors were the ultimate stress soothers. My only wish was that the screen doors could be locked so we could leave them open during the day while we went out for short spurts. But it was easy enough to just open the doors upon return and let the air spread out again. Overall: felt like home, exceptional location, super convenient ground floor lanai access, would definitely come back! Thanks Tod and Bic less

Enjoyed our stay at 2-102 Keauhou Surf and Racquet

We recently stayed at Keauhou Surf and Racquet and very much enjoyed our stay. The unit has a priceless view of the ocean and we already miss the sounds of the crashing waves. Also the unit is very well stocked with everything you will need on your vacation and you will just need to bring a suitcase and the rest will be waiting for you. The Keauhou Surf and Racquet is a very well maintained and beautiful resort with a great pool for kids and tennis court. We would definitely recommend this unit for anyone looking for a great place to stay on the Big Island of Hawaii. less

Fabulous place to relax and enjoy the view.

Wonderful location with superb view of the ocean. Weather was excellent. Unit was thoughtfully supplied with usual amenities plus extras such as snorkels, masks, beach towels. Unit was clean and in decent repair. Wireless internet was available without charge, but it was slow. An older TV, but who would watch TV in paradise? Would like to visit again. less

A Relaxing, Spacious Experience

The condo was lovely with great access to the ocean just beyond a grassy lawn & lava rocks...Welcome goodies given us on our entry were very local and sweet gesture! Photos on Vrbo do justice to the unit...it is kept in good condition, very spacious and lovely. Nice to have kitchen with pass through window and view to the ocean. In-unit laundry, and BBQ in common area--both were used! My only recommendation to owners is to provide a few basic cooking ingredients--like oil, vinegar, and a few spices and condiments--and then it would be perfect!! less

Like being at home!

All the creature comforts you could possibly imagine - all with the Kona coast as your companion. We took things with us completely unecessarily - beach towels, snorkels etc. - because it was all there, thought of, taken care of. W/D which means you can pack less...dishwasher, which means you have to fuss less about keeping the place clean. It was absolutely fabulous! less

Fantastic as usual

I believe this is the second or third time we've stayed in this unit. This time a friend stayed in the second bedroom and had a great time. We love to listen to the crashing surf, watch the sunsets during happy hour, watch the birds, and eat breakfast on the lanai. The only complaint is when vacationers in the 2 units above us are noisy, which they were this time. less

Thank you so much for your return visit. We are so happy your friend had a great time. We are very sorry for the "noisy" neighbor. Waves at your back door!!

This is such a great condo to stay in. It is situated on alii drive down near Keahou, really close to a shopping area. The waves are literally crashing just a few yards from your back door. It was wonderful. There is a great snorkling beach (complete with sea turtles) just a few minutes walk down alii Drive, and the condo has snorkling gear for your use. Magic Sands Beach is also just down the street. The condo has a great open floor plan, you will love it!! less

Very happy with our comfortable condo with awesome views.

The condo was great in terms of the views and the amenities provided. Our only complaints were that the garbage disposal wasn't working and the the screen doors in the two bedrooms weren't able to be locked. In the master bedroom, the screen door lock had been messed with and had been re-installed inproperly. In the other bedroom, the screen on the window doesn't even cover the window, thus we couldn't use the screens at night. less

A hidden gem

This condo was incredible. It's right on the ocean and close to town. We saw spinner dolphins nearly every day while we had our breakfast on the lanai. Even though we didn't need the second bedroom, how could you resist for this price? The condo had all of the standard amenities you would expect - like microwave, blender, VCR/DVD player, iron with ironing board, ceiling fans in nearly every room including the bathrooms, barbecue tools, pots, pans, etc. What really made it feel like home were the little things you would not expect in a condo like this - immersion blender, rice cooker, waffle iron, sandwich maker, toaster oven, even toothpicks for my Martinis. All you need to bring is the food. The closets were full of boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, tennis equipment, suntan lotions, aloe vera, beach mats, beach towels and an extra fan. (You can really travel light.) There is no air conditioning, but that really wasn't an issue. It doesn't get that hot in Kona, but it does get humid. The condo was not brand new, but it was in good shape. The lanai furniture did appear to be very new and good quality. Thank you for a wonderful stay. less

A relaxing getaway to the 'Big Island'

My stay at this resort was fabulous! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a great place to relax while enjoying some amazing sunsets and listening to the ocean waves crash against the lava rock from the comfort of the Lanai. In a great location this condo offers easy accessibilty to Queen K and/or ali'i Dr. to travel around the island if you so choose. An easy walk to a local shopping center that offers groceries, a movie theater, pharmacies and more. This is a condo to consider when traveling to the Big Island. less

Unit 2102 needs work!

There were several problems with the unit. The electrical outlets in both bathrooms did not work, when pluging in night lites or other appliances. Tried to use the electrical outlet in the small bedroom behind the dressor and it sparked when the cord was plugged in, so did not use. The screens on the windows and doors would not close properly, letting in mosquitos that gave my wife numerous bites. less

A great location!

This condo was very comfortable, thirty feet from the ocean with a beautiful view. The owners were extremely nice about early and late check-out. People are not always so accommodating. We would definitely rent it again. It's hard to find a first floor unit with such a great location. Surrounding neighbors were nice, too. less

Needs updating and cleaning!

Although the location of the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club is very convenient, the unit we stayed in (2-102) left much to be desired. The beds were comfortable and clean, as was the living room furniture. The bathrooms and especially the kitchen, were very outdated, run down and dirty. Dirty in terms of being so old and run down that no amount of cleaning or fresh paint would spiff them up. This became very onerous during a two week stay in March 2010. The patio furniture was also sub-standard; not even as nice as the chaise lounges at the community pool. It was not pleasant at all to pay the amount we paid for furnishings and accommodations that were barely tolerable. less

In two words.."Too Short"

We had the added pleasure of viewing whales passing in front of our condo and one night or early am (it was still dark) we were awakened by a series of slapping sounds and obvious whales blowing air/water as they passed very close to shore. It was cool! less

Amazing!

The crashing surf on the lava rocks just outside our slider door was amazing to watch. Great sunset or morning coffee place to sit. The condo was very comfortable and accomodating. Decor is great, my daughter about flipped when she saw it. The condo is only about 20 min. away from Kealakakuea Bay. We rented kayaks and swam with dolphins. We definately want to go back. A perfect place to relax and get away from it all.

This was our second stay, and we've reserved time for 2010. The condo and grounds are well maintained, and found nothing to be unhappy about.

Wonderful stay!

We had a great time staying here. This unit has a wonderful view of the ocean and you can sit on the lanai and watch the sunset. The condo had everything we needed for our stay to include boogie boards, beach towels and flashlights for the night hike at the Volcano! The swimming pool has been completely redone and is absolutely gorgeous and warm, which I loved since I am not a cold water lover. We used the BBQ area several times, which was great for all of the people we had. I would totally recommend this unit for anyone wanting to stay on the Big Island at a reasonable cost. The only negative with a ground floor unit is having to close up the condo when you go out so its a bit stuffy when you return. However, it cools off quickly with the ocean breeze. This unit stays much cooler than the third floor units. Also, the key card for the gate was no longer there but we just used the key code. I was pleased with the goodies that were there for us on our arrival and the condo is extremely close to the golf course (absolutely beautiful to play)and shopping. The weather was terrific, 86 degrees. All in all this was definitely the best vacation we have had. less

Home away from home

The condo was great. Plenty of room and it came fully equipped. It was very quiet and peacefull with a great ocean view yet only minutes of a drive from the bustling beaches and shopping areas of Kona. Although the condo had no air conditioning, their was a nice breeze when windows and patio doors were open. It was however warm at night when we closed patio doors and retired for the evening. less

WOW!! and Awesome People

Booking and dealing with the owners before arrival was easy and friendly. The Condo was neat and tidy and just right for us - 2 people for 2 weeks then 5 for 1 week. The location was awesome gorgeous views lovely and quiet, the trolley bus and shops were close and convenient. The local contact was friendly and efficient, checking in and out was no hassle at all, it was neat to have it cleaned once a week while we were there. There was washing powder, toilet paper, some toiletries and dishwash powder etc provided which was great. A very nice touch was the box of chocolates and little bag of coffee on arrival, it made us feel welcome. It was nice to have soft comfortable beds too as both my Dad and myself suffer from bad backs, so 3 weeks in a comfortable bed was great. The pool was very very nice!! I swam at least twice a day. One of the best things about staying here at the Surf and Racquet club was the really friendly cheerful ground staff, especially Jim the landscape supervisior and a couple of the younger guys, it made all the difference to our stay and one of the biggest reasons I would stay there when I come back. The best thing about our stay was the friendliness of the people, there was nothing we did not like, it was perfect. Many thanks to the owners and staff that made our stay great. Wickham family less

Decent but dated

This condo had a great view of the ocean and was roomy enough for a family of four. The condo was clean but the furniture was very dated and a bit run down. We came to this condo on the off-season so the price was reasonable for the condition of the condo. If we had to pay full in-season price, I would've have expected newer furniture and a few more amenities, such as sugar for the coffee. Also, there are very, very strict rules at the pool (example: No unnecessary loudness) which can be challenging with small children. less

We stayed for 6 nights from the end of February into March. The condo was well taken care of. The master bedroom is on the oceanside. 2-102 Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is an excellent place to stay. Not only is the condo full of everything you need or forgot to bring, but it has the best oceanfront/sunsets in the area. The lanai is spacious and well furnished for your sunset cocktail hour or afternoon sunning. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessary appliances for anyone who prefers to cook in rather than eat out.
