Great location and condo

We really enjoyed staying at this condo. The unit was exactly how it appears in pictures. The rooms were spacious and closets were large which was a plus to store luggage out of the way. Kitchen was stocked with all of the cooking utensils we needed. There was also an ample amount of snorkeling gear, flippers, boogie boards, beach chairs and a cooler. This was perfect for our days at the beach. The view from the unit was absolutely gorgeous. It was my favorite part. We swam at two of the three complex pools and grilled out one night by the pool as well. On a calm water day, my husband snorkeled at the bay right outside of the unit/ patio. That bay was less then 0.25 miles from front door of unit to water. So super convenient! We would love to stay here again in the future. less

50th Anniversary trip

We have stayed in Kanaloa and at Al's place in 3702 many times, formerly Al Gulick's.When he passed in January it was a big shock as we had become friends. That said, the help from Rocco April in coordinating this trip can't be overstated,he was great. If I were to offer advise to the trust,I would urge them to replace the refrigerator. It has a number of issues. The new split ac system was terrific and the condo was great as usual. We hope to return nest year for our 14th visit to the Big Island. less

Lovely view, comfortable condo

We stayed for six nights in July. First, Kanaloa at Kona has very pretty, well-kept grounds. There are three pools, one of which is right on the ocean and the sunset views are great there. We liked that it was very quiet even though there were many guests/residents on site. The location is incredibly convenient, quite close to a shopping mall with a Longs/CVS drugstore and a KTA grocery store. These are walking distance (well, less than a mile but it's uphill!), but that said you will need a car to get around and see the island. The unit itself was great. It was very clean, the kitchen had all the necessary pots, pans, utensils, etc. There was even a good selection of spices/oils/condiments. The closet on the patio has several snorkel sets and other beach gear. The layout of the unit was also great, the kitchen has an open view to the patio and the water. I would highly recommend this condo for a couple or a family! less

GREAT STAY AT KANALOA 3702

This is a really great location within the Kanaloa Resort. Close to the upper pool and a short walk to the ocean pool. Kitchen was equipped with all that you would need to prepare a meal and there was a nice welcome basket with fresh fruits, jams etc. Appreciate that touch! The condos at Kanaloa are, for the most part, older and not much updated which would be the best way to describe this particular condo. If you're looking for swank, go to Waikoloa! For us, we were super happy with the old school Aloha that greeted us when we opened the door and the view off the lanai overlooking Heeia Bay is spectacular. Aloha Condo's offers comfortable rates for this particular unit and I really hope it stays that way! We would definitely book again. Mahalo! less

Very pleasant stay

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 tweens) had a very pleasant stay. Communication with the host was great, the condo was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed and we really enjoyed the location and relaxed vibe of the the condominium complex. Recommended and we hope to be back! less

Kanaloa at Kona

My wife and I stayed at Kanaloa at Kona from October 26 to November 5, 2022 and had a wonderful time. Our son, his wife and their two children were in an adjoining condo and, as a family, we had a great vacation. Our unit was very clean and well prepared when we arrived and, hopefully, we left it in much the same condition when we left. Should we ever return to the Big Island, we would certainly attempt to book the same unit. Thank you very much. Don Douglas less

Great choice on Hawaii!

The location and view of the Heeia Bay are just beautiful. The Kanaloa complex is clean, quiet, secure and easy to navigate. The unit was just as shown, very roomy, immaculate and well-appointed kitchen, and very comfortable beds. Easy walk over to the pool to cool off or watch the sunset. Groc and other amenities nearby. Owner was easy to deal with and quick to answer questions. Would definitely stay here again! less

Great week at relaxing condo

My daughter and I just got back from a relaxing week in Kona. The condo is beautiful, very spacious with a wonderful view of Keauhou Bay. We went on walks in the neighborhood every morning and snorkeled at nearby Kahulu'u Beach Park. Everything is very accessible, and the condo community has nice amenities (including BBQ grills in the common areas and an oceanside pool with spectacular sunsets). The condo owner had arranged for a welcome basket of fruits and vegetables from a local organic gardener, a very nice touch for our arrival. I highly recommend this condo. less

Needs Updating but OK stay

I will start with the Pros: This condo had a nice view from the lanai over looking small cove/beach. We enjoyed our mornings and evenings sitting at the table and having our drinks and meals. We liked the property location which was close to a shopping center with a KTA (grocery store), restaurants, and a Long’s Drug. It was also close enough to Kona to enjoy the action but far enough way to avoid it too. The BBQ grill we used regularly and it worked well. We appreciated the welcome basket with locally grown fruit, homemade jam, honey etc. The unit had some beach gear (not great but adequate for our needs) and a cooler we used daily. Al was a great communicator and got back to any inquiry quickly. The Cons: The place is very outdated and worn. The kitchen cabinets are circa 1980 and were minimally stocked. The hinges on some of the cabinets were loose and close to falling off. It is definitely not a unit for people who are foodies and like to cook. We don’t go on vacation with that in mind but it was annoying that it wasn’t more adequately supplied. The fridge is older and, unbeknownst to us, the temp wasn’t cold enough and some of our food we bought at Costco spoiled within a couple of days. We should have noticed that issue but the place probably just needs a new fridge. The bathrooms were both very dated too. Honestly, we wondered how much of the rental income it would take to upgrade the bathtub spout so it wasn’t completely covered in crusty scale? The master bathroom had several floor tiles that were loose and would come up with a damp foot. There were loose tiles in front of the sinks too. The tiling in the unit is the same circa 1980’s as the cabinets and needs replacing too. All-in-all we enjoyed our stay. We are backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts so our standards aren’t high and we did fine with the accommodation. We all agreed that if some of the rental income went back into the property, it would provide a more comfortable experience for the customer. If you like the price point of this unit, go into it with this knowledge and you won’t be disappointed. We travel to one of the Hawaiian islands every year (sometimes twice) and have for the last ~15 years. Some places we stay in again and again- we probably won’t be back to this one. less

Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay in condo 3702. The lanai is really right on the water edge and we enjoyed the view. Easy parking, easy access, everything you could want is in the kitchen. Comfy beds and nice furniture, great WiFi. I was able to teach my class remotely from the lanai :-) less

Loved the condo! Beautiful view, close to beaches, snorkeling, great restaurants. Especially loved the sunset views at the ocean pool. Also so many beautiful birds and flowers. I will definitely stay here again!

Great stay in Kona

Hello, We had a really relaxing vacation here. The lanai looks right out onto the bay and you can hear the waves coming in all day and evening. There was even some surfers in the bay when with waves were really coming in. Just up the hill is a shopping area with a KTA and several great restaurants. (Check out the expansive view from the parking lot.) The kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans you need to cook which we took full advantage of. We also hit the Thai and Italian places in the shopping mall as well as the sunset view at Sam Choys. Everything for a perfect vacation is within 1 mile radius. Also we enjoyed all three pools and liked watching the sunsets from the ocean pool. Great place and base for travelling around the island!! less

Condo 3702

Toughly enjoyed our stay at Kanaloa. Nice, quite property with lovely grounds. The unit itself was dated and in need of some repairs but comfortable. The location and convenience to ocean was great. I would consider returning because of the Ohana style.

Great view, great place

We enjoyed our stay there very much, just sitting on the balcony enjoying the great view. But also the cond was great, parking, beds, kitchen, everything was there what we needed. Thank you for the welcome fruit basket. Hope to come back once!

Roomy condo with a view

The condo is definitely in need of an update, but it was roomy and comfortable. Screens are broken, outdoor furniture rickety and a bit grimy, indoor furnishings well used . However, the parking was convenient, the ocean view from the lanai was fantastic, the ocean pool was great, the grills were super - and available, the supermarket was close, and good restaurants close by (even found a Taco Bell and Jack in the Box for the young one within a mile). less

Our Third Stay in Kanaloa 3702

relaxing

great view of the water from the lanai spend every morning with coffee cup in hand enjoying the view! place was clean and very comfortable, some reviews said some of the things could be updated ( there is a chair on the lanai that had bad arms no big deal we just didn't use that chair) but I guess I am not as picky for everything worked just fine, as for the ants listed in another review they were so tiny you could hardly see them, I would rather have the ants then have all the chemical's to exterminate them! staff was very friendly, pools and hot tub were great. (last day sucked with the missal threat) thanks for memories! Dorene less

The condo was very spacious and well equipped. The view was amazing and the grounds beautiful. Unfortunately we had to cut our vacation short because my husband became ill and ended having emergency surgery for bleeding on the brain. I would recommend this condo.

June visit

Pros-The view, the front desk staff was wonderful, welcome basket was a nice touch. Cons-Unfortunately, we had 4 people using 1 shower due to the shower in the hallway having a spout very heavily covered in hard water/lime build up and us not wanting to use it. It was used as a drying rack for swimwear and towels. The same bathroom had brown spots on the walls in areas and dust build up on the floor boards. I have pictures, but no way to attach. We had to kill ants in the kitchen every morning and night, and occasionally in the hall bathroom. The room with the twin beds had a noticeable dust buildup on one of the lamps and a long black hair on one of the pillows when we arrived so we washed the pillows. In general, we all felt it could of been cleaned better. I'm also still waiting on my security deposit to be refund. less

Aloha condo kanaloa kona is a hidden treasure

The condo at kanaloa at kona from Mr. A. Gulick was absolutely wonderful, clean, large and we'll maintained. The amenities and spaciousness of the condo and inlet/ocean view was very scenic and we'll worth the money and time spent. All visitors will want to maintain the condo in good order and cleanliness so every one can enjoy this extremely nice condo. We will certainly return on our next trip to kona. The location is away from the tourist noise and bustle a few miles north, so everyone can enjoy the quiet days and nights. Very relaxing, safe, and picture perfect view. Great combination of lava rock and coastal shore. John and family of four. less

Climate Change -Yes-England to Hawaii

Have stayed at Kanaloa several times, and this is out favorite unit. Lots of time on the lanai watching surfers and net fishermen, etc. And a convenient location for heading out to explore this island of great variety. Condo has everything you need, including a great welcome basket of fruits, jams, muffins, and coffee from a local organic farm. We will be back. Thanks, Al. less

Loved it!

This condo exceeded our expectations! We booked last minute and moved from Kauai due to non-stop rain to Kona where it rarely rains. We were not disappointed! We were greeted with an amazing fruit basket on arrival. Fresh produce & honey from the owners! They have a weekly stall at the local farmers market on Saturdays. The rooms & restrooms are all a very nice size and not confining at all. The condo location is very secluded. The view from the lanai is absolutely amazing, we spent most of our time at the condo at the table just watching the waves. The reviews about the small ants are correct, however as others stated: if you don't leave food on the counter its simply not a problem. They seem to only be in the kitchen and not the rest of the condo. There are 3 pools to take advantage of during your stay. The ocean view pool is perfect for sunsets. You are a little removed from most of the tourist action in the middle of Kona and that is OK! There is a shopping center just up the hill from the condo that has everything you need for your stay. OK, now for the negatives: I only have two negatives, and even with them I would stay here again with no qualms: 1. The washer is small AND it left marks on some of our clothes. Its fine for towels and other minor things, but I would not wash any clothing in it that you want to keep stain free. I think the washer probably needs to be replaced. 2. The neighbors upstairs were _very_ loud in the mornings. That was the only time we heard them, but if you are a light sleeper that likes to sleep late....this may be an issue for you. Unfortunately this is something outside of the condo owners control, so nothing to really be done about it. less

Amazing Stay

This condo became very special to us. It will continue to be our home away from home on the Big Island. We will always stay at this unit moving forward. From the comfort of the beds, the cleanliness at arrival, to having just about everything we needed. The owner Al was so kind to leave a heart warming welcome basket and was always available (even though we didn't need a thing). I heavily recommend this unit and the anything that the owner has is top notch. Thanks again for a lovely stay and can not wait for our next visit. less

Recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at #3702 very much. The apartment was extremely comfortable and spacious. The view to the ocean was breathtaking, beds and couches were comfy, climate control excellent, rooms bright and airy, the kitchen well appointed with everything you could need, great internet for our teenagers, and lots of room for this family of 4 to spread out. I give it 5 stars for comfort. We used the pools daily and loved them. I had hoped from the pictures we would be able to walk along the coast, but it was really too rocky and the path by the unit was poorly maintained. We had to drive to get anywhere, but that was pretty much expected, being located outside of Kona. My main criticism would echo those of other reviewers that there was a lot of deferred maintenance. The washer-dryer and dishwasher both need replacing. They worked, but were rusting and old. Bathrooms could use updating, especially brighter lights, and kitchen counters and cabinets as well. The electrical system could use some looking at - in one bathroom the light switch would not turn off. We ran into the little ants from time to time but by refrigerating all food and keeping counters clean we kept the problem to a minimum. The floors were not very clean when we arrived. The unit could do with a thorough cleaning. All in all, we had a lovely time at this condo, it was perfectly comfortable with lots of space and a view to die for at a great price, but a little more run-down and isolated than we had anticipated. less

Great Place, GreatTime

We have stayed at Kanaloa at Kona several times over the years. We love its location with a grocery store minutes away and Kailua-Kona just a 15 minute drive. The grounds are kept in great condition. Three swimming pools and multiple grills are spread throughout the complex. It is a quiet, peaceful, relaxing place. This is our first time using Aloha Condos and Homes and our experience was superb. The reservation process was easy and clear. All of our questions were answered quickly. Unit 3702 was as we expected. It is in a great location at the south end of the complex overlooking the bay. We loved sitting outside looking over the ocean. The beds were comfortable, internet connected and worked without any problems, and the kitchen was nicely supplied. The interior is a bit dated, but no different from other units we have stayed at in the complex. There was a local fruit basket waiting for us on arrival which was a nice touch. We had a great time and will certainly consider this unit for our next stay on the big island. less

Family friendly, accommodating staff, beautiful location

Our oceanfront condo at Kanaloa had everything we needed for our stay in Kona, Hawaii. We loved the location, felt close enough to everything by car, and liked the quietness of staying a bit outside of the main town. We rented a two bedroom, two bathroom, oceanfront ground level suite that more than accommodated us, as three adults and one baby. I phoned the host prior to arrival to find out the suite did not have a crib/portable playpen for our baby to sleep in - despite requesting one in our online booking. However, he ran around looking for a pack n' play last minute, and there was one waiting for us in the condo when we arrived. We were very impressed and thankful for this excellent customer service. In the future, we will be more clear about any special requests, such as the need for a crib. The condo could use a bit of updating (specifically the bathrooms and kitchen), but it housed everything we needed in our home away. It even had in-suite laundry, which was a valuable feature! What really sold this place though, was the location. We were on the southern end of the resort (first left once you pass the security gate). We had a lovely, private patio with a table, chairs and lounger. Our view overlooked a small beach with public access - and we enjoyed watching surfers while sipping our morning cup of Kona coffee. The patio was also nice because it was essentially a huge and safe playpen for our one year old, as the railings were high enough and the bars were close together. We loved the Kanaloa grounds, including the oceanfront pool and main reception centre. The day staff were very friendly and helpful in telling us anything we wanted to know about the Big Island, and what to do while we were there. Sarah booked us a dolphin swim charter that was the highlight of our trip, for sure. Booking through them also saved us a lot of money as they offered us a great deal! We only stayed four days in Kanaloa and wished it had been longer. We would definitely come back to Kona and stay in Kanaloa again. We travelled around the entire Big Island, including a stay in Hilo and the Puna district. I would say Kanaloa was our favourite and surprisingly, the most affordable. Although, we think the condo could use updating, we give our stay at Kanaloa five stars because the updates are trivial considering all the other great things about Kanaloa at Kona. We had a wonderful holiday! less

Nice but could be improved

We have stayed in a number of different condos at Kanaloa so we have a good frame of reference for these units. This one is good but not overall great. The new laminate floors are nice, the kitchen and bathrooms are original but okay. The things that might make it nicer are as follows, the living room has a fan over the couch area but not over the dining area as many units do. The fan in the guest bedroom has a three bulb light arrangement but it doesn't work and the fan in the master bedroom has only one speed and no pull chain that is reachable or that works. When it is humid like it was for a number of days as it was recently those fans really help and the extra light would be appreciated..Minor improvements to make it much nicer, less

Serenity Combined With Beauty

Whether we were relaxing on the lanai or actively rooting on the surfers in the bay below, what a great place. And there were net fishermen down there, too. We didn't have to leave the condo to experience real Hawaii--but we did. This island has such a variety of things to offer the visitor. The condo was great. Well stocked and we particularly enjoyed the welcome basket from the owner which included avocado, papayas, limes, Kona coffee, lilikoi jam, and muffins. A really thoughtful and personal touch. We loved Kanaloa and already are planning our next trip. less

more tired every year

First, let me say that we love Kanaloa, and we love the location of #3702, where we've stayed at least three times. But each time we visit, the unit seems older and less loved. The tiny ants last year were an annoyance - this year, they were everywhere, even in the coffee maker! The wood cabinets need refurbishing, and the place at the very least needs a good, thorough cleaning. Probably the most annoying - and something you have no control over, is that the unit upstairs last year had tile installed throughout the unit. We know because construction was going on while we were there. Now every time someone walks in the unit, it's clear as a bell. And the people above us this time got up VERY early in the morning and it sounded like they were doing sprints up and down the hall. I'm sure we'll return to Kanaloa next year, but probably not to this particular unit. less

A Wonderful Respite

We arrived at Kanaloa at Kona emotionally exhausted after the passing away of my mother 5 days before our departure date. We decided to proceed with our trip, and it was the best experience we could have imagined. The view from the lanai of 3702 is breathtaking, and listening to the waves and ocean were incredibly soothing and healing. The condo was spacious and met all our needs, and was in a wonderful location that was outside of the super touristy area further down alii Drive. We have visited the other islands, but this was by far my favourite trip, in terms of being right on the ocean, the view, and the peacefulness at the resort. The grounds were manicured and clean, and we truly loved every minute spent there. less

Paradise is eating breakfast on the Lanai and watching the waves

We had easy access to the owner who answered questions for us and/or the people in the office who were helpful with planning excursions. The condo was fully equipped with all the amenities of home, except our home does not have the view of the ocean that we were privileged to see at breakfast and having coffee in the evening on the Lanai. The location is excellent. It is close to 5 or 6 different beaches, stores, restaurants and is easy to find your way around town. We have gone to this particular condo for four years because of the view, the range of activities that are available, and/or if we just want a peaceful vacation. less

Perfect Kona Location

The picture is exactly what you see. This is a great unit, the owner is fantastic to work with, the grounds are kept up nicely, nice pools, and a great walk around the property, to the Sheraton, and nice location for Manta Ray night dives, snorkeling, kayaking, etc. Will definitely stay again less

Lovely location and amenities

We were very pleased with our stay at Unit 3702. The view was spectacular. Our friends at home thought we were sending them professional photos of the view until we noted it was really that lovely. The only drawback the entire stay was that the unit upstairs was being remodeled, so the construction noise started early. Since this is Hawaii, there are apparently no insulation needs, so the sound from the upper unit was quite loud. Beyond the views and amenities, the unit was conveniently located to several local restaurants and a nearby shopping center with grocery and drug stores. A Saturday Farmers' Market supplied us with fresh fruits and vegetables, and great Kona coffee at reasonable prices. The unit was well appointed, and the added benefit of a "fully stocked" outdoor toy closet on the lanai gave us the opportunity to snorkel and swim (not at the development, too many lava cliffs) without having to rent gear. The multiple pools in the Resort were a plus, and the evening sunset at the "Sunset Pool" were especially memorable. We would certainly recommend this unit and the kanaloa at kona development overall to our friends and family. less

Spectacular! Great view; wonderful condo!

We have stayed at other units at the Kanaloa at Kona complex and enjoyed those units as well, but Unit 3702 was absolutely the best! The view was totally spectacular as you got to see the waves crashing in the bay as well as seeing and enjoying the ocean view. It was fun watching the surfers surf the bay and seeing the boats come into and out of Keauhou Bay. This will be out go-to condo when we travel to Hawaii from now on. The Unit was clean and very comfortable. Wish I could give if a higher rating that "just" 5 stars! less

As always, a stay at Kanaloa is tremendous

This is our 5th stay at Kanaloa, and it's always great. The best part, of course, is the view off the lanai.

most enjoyable stay

Two couples had very adequate space, the ocean view from the lanai was great, the unit was clean, the kitchen very well equipped and we would highly recommend.

Very Highly Recommended!

We had another wonderful stay in this excellent 2 bedroom condo which was exactly as described. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and is situated in a truly beautiful development (Kanaloa) on the Big Island's Kona Coast just a short drive from Kailua. Very highly recommended. less

Beautiful View, Great Location

This unit is clean, quiet and in a a great location as you can easily travel to other parts of the island and is close to any amentities you may need. The view and breeze of the ocean made for a perfect setting for a relaxing drink or meal on the lanai. The complex is very well maintained as was never noisy or crowded. We would defintely stay there again! less

comfortable and convenient

This year was my 6th visit to Kanaloa Condos. Again, a pleasant visit

Nice Experience

Well stocked private condo. Very generous in size and reasonably up to date. Everything about this place I can recommend. We only had a couple of issues: 1)wireless is actually the neighbours 2)can be noisy with people living above stamping around 3)unfortunately the room wasnt cleaned when we arrived so we did quite a bit of work along with the owner. The owner was very pleasant and generous and he even refunded us a night so this was a non-event. Overall a great place and I recommend it to people looking to escape and have a relaxing holiday. Nice one! less

Annual trip to Paradise

We stayed in Condo 3702 for the first time. We have been staying at Kanaloa at Kona for the past ten years and love the view in the bay. We had everything we needed and more at the condo. It was clean and perfect for the 2 of us. There were sand chairs, beach towels, a boogie board and goodies. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms...The sound of the waves, the view...everything was perfect! We are already looking forward to our stay next year. Mahalo al!! less

Magical place to stay!

The condo was very clean, well stocked and in a great location. The neighborhood was amazing, we really felt at home staying here. We will tell anyone who is going to Hawaii to try their hardest to stay here, it is very much worth it. This condo has a great ocean view from the patio. This was our first trip to Big Island and guess what, we shall return. Great place to stay, the grounds are beautiful and the sunsets are amazing. less

Relaxing, beautiful location

The condo is very clean, well appointed, and has a nice layout. The couch in the living room was comfortable and a great place to relax with the doors to the lanai open, to let the sound of the surf and the ocean breezes in. The grounds are well maintained and extremely well managed! Three pools and hot tubs and two tennis courts on the grounds. They were never crowded. There are a few barbecues for the entire complex, but none are close to this unit. My pet peeves: I think this is the first vacation rental I have stayed in where there was no book for the house with a map of the complex, phone numbers, directions to local attractions, and the owners reviews of restaurants. Also, there was no secure wi-fi for this condo. The router has an ethernet cord, and you are tethered to the desk; however I may point out that the desk is in the front room with nice views of the ocean, so it wasn't too bad. The laminate flooring looked nice and new. It's well documented that the master bath needs a major overhaul. It does detract a little. If the bath had been updated, I'd give 5 stars. less

What a peaceful, beautiful view from the Lanai! We loved it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary week stay in this condo. We enjoyed breakfasts every morning and many of our other meals on the Lanai. The view is incredible! It's a total island experience. We felt like we were in our own private little oasis. The almost new flooring throughout the condo was so nice. We couldn't believe the space in the unit, including the huge walk-in closets. It was just the two of us so much more room than we needed, but we wouldn't have traded it for anything. This was our first trip to the Big Island and it couldn't have been more special. We look forward to coming back and staying right here in Condo 3702. Al, the decorating and upgrade renovations that you have done so far are perfect. less

Peaceful getaway

I took my 81 year old mother for a quiet getaway and this condo was perfect. It is in a quiet corner of the resort with a lanai that was a great place to sit and view the ocean and bay. I snorkeled everyday with turtles and spinner dolphin and every evening from the lanai you could watch the underwater lights from the divers on the manta ray tours. The condo was large and airy with lovely floors and living area. Only drawback was the outdated microwave. Would have liked to have more cooking utensils. Bedrooms and baths were large. A great value for the price. Resort had 3 pools and the grocery store had the nicest employees. We would have like to have met al since we read so many kind things about him. The condo was within easy driving of everything and yet far from the hubbub of Kailua. I will be bringing my husband here. less

Loved Everything about the Condo

The condo and the whole complex exceeded our expectations. The location was great because it wasn't in the middle of all of the Kona Village hubub, and just a few miles from the City of Refuge, the Painted Church, and the Kohala coast (just to name a few). The lanai was so amazing- looking over the beautiful blue water cove just a few yards away. The pool by the ocean was perfect for swimming as we barbecued and watched the sunset. The weather was beautiful. We got a few sprinkles but it never got in the way of anything. We snorkling 3 times at a beach by the Outrigger. The water was clear, calm, and safe. We saw tons of fish and a few turtles there. Al (the owner) is a great guy and helped us in many ways. I highly recommend this condo and would choose it again if we are lucky enough to come back. Aloha less

Exceeded our expectations

We found the condo to be well appointed, well maintained, and well located.Very lovely. It was the condo owner,Al Gulick, who really made the vacation special. He was very accomodating with our requests and responded speedily, no small matter when it came to our desire to have air conditioning added on. You could tell he sincerely wanted us to have a fabulous time. We felt well taken care of. less

Al helped make our vacation outstanding, Aloha al

Just one big incredible experience day after day. The Condo was great, clean, comfortable and centrally located for our travels completely around the Big Island. Then their is al. Al made a big diference in our experience of Hawaii. Helpful and accessable before our trip as well as during with great recommendations for fishing, beaching, dining and touring. Making sure we had what we needed before and after we got to Hawaii. I think this might be the difference between using an agency and a private owner. Mahalo al,for all your help and guidance on the Island. Hope to see you again in the future. less

Super Fantastic!

We really enjoyed this property. We have visited Kanaloa several times and stayed at other units. This particular unit, 3702 is by far theee best we've stayed at. It looks like it has been completely refurbished and updated because the atmosphere is so rich and inviting with all the creature comforts necessary to make a good stay great; DVD, wireless internet, flat panel TV etc. We found the kitchen to be nicely appointed with all the comforts of home and the beds to be super comfortable! Overall the unit is fabulous!!! Turnkey, nice and clean with beautiful tropical decor, incredible bayside views and warm tropical breezes. We found the staff and owner to be extremely accommodating and friendly with our special requests. We love the resort itself because of all the amenities (pools, tennis courts, Bbq's - golf /shopping / snorkeling nearby). We would definitely come back!! Highly recommended!!! Ps: The sunsets are amazing!!! less

We loved the view of the lagoon, and we most enjoyed the pool ov

As a builder, I would suggest replacing th carpets with tile or laminate wood. Also you need a new automatic coffee maker, and better cookware. But overall, we enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you!Bob and Bonnie Wolfe

Aloha Bob and Bonnie, Thanks for your kind comments and your suggestions. New laminate wood flooring is going in the last week in April (our first open date). Best, Al Gulick. Owner, Kanaloa at Kona 3702

You can't call me al...

My wife, mother, mother and sister-in-law had enjoyed a wonderful 5 day stay at another condo in Kanaloa before we moved to the larger 3702 for 9 days. The cleaners were not informed by the owner that they needed to attend to the unit and only by accident did I run into them [our perishables were in boxes on the front porch]. We waited 2 hrs while they belatedly did their jobs. Welcome to 3702 ! The owner never returned my call. Cons- The white carpet was absolutely filthy and minimally needs to cleaned and should be replaced. The furnishings are more than dated and the bedding and linens are ancient, cheap, and threadbare. The unit is in desperate need of a remodel. Pros- Kanaloa is fantastic. Great pools and office, friendly and helpful staff, beautifully maintained grounds, and quiet, convenient location. The view from the lanai [which itself is battered and dirty] is very nice and the unit is well-stocked, large, and comfortable. less

A great place to stay.

We loved the location and the grocery store nearby. The cove below was great for snorkeling and looking out from our deck each day. The pool area was great also and the barbecue we used. The landscaping was very colorful. The unit itself was very spacious and the rooms were good size for everyone. We loved having the kitchen and the laundry. The only thing we had to deal with was these pesky little ant type, knat type bugs that were always in the kitchen area. When you were trying to put food out on the counter or dishes in the sink, they were annoying. less

Beautiful view of the bay from our lanai

Our stay at 3702 at Kanaloa at Kona Condos was everything we had hoped for. It had a beautiful view of the bay and we spent mornings and evenings watching the view and enjoying the breezes. The condo was spacious for our family of 5 and in great condition ( except for the sliding door to the lanai, which wouldn't stay on the track). There were beach chairs and water shoes and umbrellas and beach towels for our beach activities, which was so nice. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and eating utensils, pots, etc. we were disappointed the pool closest to the beach was undergoing renovation and not open, but the other two pools were fine. The location was perfect for us...close to a grocery store, to snorkeling beaches, to the town of Kailua-Kona, and to the airport. We loved it all, and felt we got a great value out of our condo. less

Gorgeous View, Comfortable Layout & Close to Beaches and Stores

The virtual tour of unit 3702 made for great expectations. They were not merely met but exceeded! We spent mornings and evenings on the lanai that had an unrivaled, picture-postcard view. The condo complex is at the end of residential street so no huge hotel buildings nearby. A shopping center with a large grocery store was within a 3-minute drive but felt a world away. Within a five minute drive, we were at some of the most recommended beaches in Kona. We paid $129 per night (before taxes) for this unit that sleeps six people. What an incredible value! Mind you, the decor is a somewhat dated. But it was clean and very family-friendly. We have raved about our experience to friends, family and coworkers. We would, without reservation, recommend this unit. We plan to return! Aloha from Steve (Kiwi) Murphy! less

Lived on the Lanai

Enjoyed watching the surfers from the lanai. Also, the net fishermen were very interesting to watch.

— A FlipKey verified reviewer, Stayed 04/29/2010

Really enjoyed our stay

Our Lanai had the most incredible view. Every morning we ate breakfast on the lanai watching the surfers and the waves. The condo is very clean and quite large. All appliances worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. Internet worked good too. We did not use the hot tub or the bidet in the suite so I cannot comment on them. The shower is large enough for two and has two shower heads. Bed was comfortable. When we arrived there was liquid soap at all sinks and bathroom tissue, which was nice because we arrived late at night and it would have been a problem to purchase these. Little things like that go a long way to enjoying your stay. Even a pen and notepaper beside the phone. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the unit and we will stay there again. less

Vacation in Paradise

My girlfriend and I had a wondeful stay at the Kanaloa Condo #3702 in Feb 2010. I have stayed here many times. The view from the lanai is so beautiful and dynamic with the ever changing sight and sound of the surf in the bay. It goes from a muted roar to a lapping tinkle of the rocks on the beach depending on the weather and wave patterns. We chuckled at the sight of the wary mongoose sneaking across the lawn and marveled at the innocent beauty of the colorful geckos on the railing...... We were there at whale time and spent many hours at the pool by the ocean watching the whales pass by. We snorkled, dove , danced, whale watched, had great meals, explored old Hawaiin temples, hiked and all around had a great vacation....I couldn't recomend this place more highly..... less

EXTRAORDINARY!

We absolutely love, love, love this unit. It is quiet, comfortable and has remarkable views. The unit itself was so delightful and offered all the comforts of home including the owner who had gone out of his way to customize our trip. What we liked best was sipping those cool Mai Tai's on the porch watching the golden Kona sunset. We also really liked the tennis, pools and golf. Everyone is so friendly here....thank you! We highly recommend Unit 3702 at Kanaloa and we will be back! less

Beautiful location but condo needs a little work.

Overall we found our experience with unit 3702 enjoyable. The staff at Kanaloa were very helpful and friendly. The unit has an amazing view and is in a great location, close to shopping and not too far from Kailua-Kona. My son enjoyed the 2 pools the complex has and the grounds of Kanaloa are very pretty. Its just too bad the restaurant is closed! The kitchen needs to be outfitted a little better. Needs to have larger skillets, a cookie sheet, and better knives. The kitchen faucet was broken so you needed to make sure you pushed it down just right to turn off the water. The jacuzzi tub in the master was broken (and looks like it has been for quite some time) while this didn't bother me in the least I am sure it would be nice for others if it was in working order. Also the fan on the lanai needs to be fixed, it gets hot out there! With a few improvements, this would be a fantastic unit to stay in. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for your review and bringing these problems to my attention. The kitchen has been resupplied with new skillets, a cooking sheet and new knive set. The faucet has been fixed too. The ceiling fan on the lanai is fixed as well. The jacuzzi tub in the master bath is going to be removed this spring, so I don't plan on fixing it until after my remodel. Again, thank you for your feedback. Al Gulick, Owner, Kanaloa at Kona Condo 3702

It was just OK

We've stayed at several other Kanaloa condos and they are a great location, quite and have all of the amenties. Unit 3702 boarders the small bay which is quite and peaceful. Our issues with the unit was that there were several lights that didn't work, and the fan on the lanai didn't work. Both faucets in the master shower weren't installed correctly, the hot was cold and the cold was hot. The kitchen sink also needed some tightening since it wouldn't completely turn off unless it was pushed down. Also the whirlpool tub had a sign on it stating that the motor was being replaced. Based on the sign, (it was dirty, the clear plastic folder that it was in was cracked and had several dead flies in it)the replacement was taking a long time. This unit wasn't up to par with the other units that we've rented in the past. With a little work it could be. less
