The condo is very clean, well appointed, and has a nice layout. The couch in the living room was comfortable and a great place to relax with the doors to the lanai open, to let the sound of the surf and the ocean breezes in. The grounds are well maintained and extremely well managed! Three pools and hot tubs and two tennis courts on the grounds. They were never crowded. There are a few barbecues for the entire complex, but none are close to this unit. My pet peeves: I think this is the first vacation rental I have stayed in where there was no book for the house with a map of the complex, phone numbers, directions to local attractions, and the owners reviews of restaurants. Also, there was no secure wi-fi for this condo. The router has an ethernet cord, and you are tethered to the desk; however I may point out that the desk is in the front room with nice views of the ocean, so it wasn't too bad. The laminate flooring looked nice and new. It's well documented that the master bath needs a major overhaul. It does detract a little. If the bath had been updated, I'd give 5 stars.
What a peaceful, beautiful view from the Lanai! We loved it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary week stay in this condo. We enjoyed breakfasts every morning and many of our other meals on the Lanai. The view is incredible! It's a total island experience. We felt like we were in our own private little oasis. The almost new flooring throughout the condo was so nice. We couldn't believe the space in the unit, including the huge walk-in closets. It was just the two of us so much more room than we needed, but we wouldn't have traded it for anything. This was our first trip to the Big Island and it couldn't have been more special. We look forward to coming back and staying right here in Condo 3702. Al, the decorating and upgrade renovations that you have done so far are perfect.

I took my 81 year old mother for a quiet getaway and this condo was perfect. It is in a quiet corner of the resort with a lanai that was a great place to sit and view the ocean and bay. I snorkeled everyday with turtles and spinner dolphin and every evening from the lanai you could watch the underwater lights from the divers on the manta ray tours. The condo was large and airy with lovely floors and living area. Only drawback was the outdated microwave. Would have liked to have more cooking utensils. Bedrooms and baths were large. A great value for the price. Resort had 3 pools and the grocery store had the nicest employees. We would have like to have met al since we read so many kind things about him. The condo was within easy driving of everything and yet far from the hubbub of Kailua. I will be bringing my husband here.
Loved Everything about the Condo

The condo and the whole complex exceeded our expectations. The location was great because it wasn't in the middle of all of the Kona Village hubub, and just a few miles from the City of Refuge, the Painted Church, and the Kohala coast (just to name a few). The lanai was so amazing- looking over the beautiful blue water cove just a few yards away. The pool by the ocean was perfect for swimming as we barbecued and watched the sunset. The weather was beautiful. We got a few sprinkles but it never got in the way of anything. We snorkling 3 times at a beach by the Outrigger. The water was clear, calm, and safe. We saw tons of fish and a few turtles there. Al (the owner) is a great guy and helped us in many ways. I highly recommend this condo and would choose it again if we are lucky enough to come back.

We found the condo to be well appointed, well maintained, and well located.Very lovely. It was the condo owner,Al Gulick, who really made the vacation special. He was very accomodating with our requests and responded speedily, no small matter when it came to our desire to have air conditioning added on. You could tell he sincerely wanted us to have a fabulous time. We felt well taken care of.

Just one big incredible experience day after day. The Condo was great, clean, comfortable and centrally located for our travels completely around the Big Island. Then their is al. Al made a big diference in our experience of Hawaii. Helpful and accessable before our trip as well as during with great recommendations for fishing, beaching, dining and touring. Making sure we had what we needed before and after we got to Hawaii. I think this might be the difference between using an agency and a private owner. Mahalo al,for all your help and guidance on the Island. Hope to see you again in the future.
Super Fantastic!

We really enjoyed this property. We have visited Kanaloa several times and stayed at other units. This particular unit, 3702 is by far theee best we've stayed at. It looks like it has been completely refurbished and updated because the atmosphere is so rich and inviting with all the creature comforts necessary to make a good stay great; DVD, wireless internet, flat panel TV etc. We found the kitchen to be nicely appointed with all the comforts of home and the beds to be super comfortable! Overall the unit is fabulous!!! Turnkey, nice and clean with beautiful tropical decor, incredible bayside views and warm tropical breezes. We found the staff and owner to be extremely accommodating and friendly with our special requests. We love the resort itself because of all the amenities (pools, tennis courts, Bbq's - golf /shopping / snorkeling nearby). We would definitely come back!! Highly recommended!!! Ps: The sunsets are amazing!!!
We loved the view of the lagoon, and we most enjoyed the pool ov

As a builder, I would suggest replacing th carpets with tile or laminate wood. Also you need a new automatic coffee maker, and better cookware. But overall, we enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you!Bob and Bonnie Wolfe

My wife, mother, mother and sister-in-law had enjoyed a wonderful 5 day stay at another condo in Kanaloa before we moved to the larger 3702 for 9 days. The cleaners were not informed by the owner that they needed to attend to the unit and only by accident did I run into them [our perishables were in boxes on the front porch]. We waited 2 hrs while they belatedly did their jobs. Welcome to 3702 ! The owner never returned my call.
Cons- The white carpet was absolutely filthy and minimally needs to cleaned and should be replaced. The furnishings are more than dated and the bedding and linens are ancient, cheap, and threadbare. The unit is in desperate need of a remodel.
Pros- Kanaloa is fantastic. Great pools and office, friendly and helpful staff, beautifully maintained grounds, and quiet, convenient location. The view from the lanai [which itself is battered and dirty] is very nice and the unit is well-stocked, large, and comfortable.
A great place to stay.

We loved the location and the grocery store nearby. The cove below was great for snorkeling and looking out from our deck each day. The pool area was great also and the barbecue we used. The landscaping was very colorful. The unit itself was very spacious and the rooms were good size for everyone. We loved having the kitchen and the laundry. The only thing we had to deal with was these pesky little ant type, knat type bugs that were always in the kitchen area. When you were trying to put food out on the counter or dishes in the sink, they were annoying.
Beautiful view of the bay from our lanai

Our stay at 3702 at Kanaloa at Kona Condos was everything we had hoped for. It had a beautiful view of the bay and we spent mornings and evenings watching the view and enjoying the breezes. The condo was spacious for our family of 5 and in great condition ( except for the sliding door to the lanai, which wouldn't stay on the track). There were beach chairs and water shoes and umbrellas and beach towels for our beach activities, which was so nice. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and eating utensils, pots, etc. we were disappointed the pool closest to the beach was undergoing renovation and not open, but the other two pools were fine. The location was perfect for us...close to a grocery store, to snorkeling beaches, to the town of Kailua-Kona, and to the airport. We loved it all, and felt we got a great value out of our condo.

The virtual tour of unit 3702 made for great expectations. They were not merely met but exceeded! We spent mornings and evenings on the lanai that had an unrivaled, picture-postcard view.
The condo complex is at the end of residential street so no huge hotel buildings nearby. A shopping center with a large grocery store was within a 3-minute drive but felt a world away. Within a five minute drive, we were at some of the most recommended beaches in Kona.
We paid $129 per night (before taxes) for this unit that sleeps six people. What an incredible value! Mind you, the decor is a somewhat dated. But it was clean and very family-friendly.
We have raved about our experience to friends, family and coworkers. We would, without reservation, recommend this unit. We plan to return! Aloha from Steve (Kiwi) Murphy!

Our Lanai had the most incredible view. Every morning we ate breakfast on the lanai watching the surfers and the waves. The condo is very clean and quite large. All appliances worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. Internet worked good too. We did not use the hot tub or the bidet in the suite so I cannot comment on them. The shower is large enough for two and has two shower heads. Bed was comfortable. When we arrived there was liquid soap at all sinks and bathroom tissue, which was nice because we arrived late at night and it would have been a problem to purchase these. Little things like that go a long way to enjoying your stay. Even a pen and notepaper beside the phone. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the unit and we will stay there again.

My girlfriend and I had a wondeful stay at the Kanaloa Condo #3702 in Feb 2010. I have stayed here many times. The view from the lanai is so beautiful and dynamic with the ever changing sight and sound of the surf in the bay. It goes from a muted roar to a lapping tinkle of the rocks on the beach depending on the weather and wave patterns.
We chuckled at the sight of the wary mongoose sneaking across the lawn and marveled at the innocent beauty of the colorful geckos on the railing...... We were there at whale time and spent many hours at the pool by the ocean watching the whales pass by. We snorkled, dove , danced, whale watched, had great meals, explored old Hawaiin temples, hiked and all around had a great vacation....I couldn't recomend this place more highly.....

We absolutely love, love, love this unit. It is quiet, comfortable and has remarkable views. The unit itself was so delightful and offered all the comforts of home including the owner who had gone out of his way to customize our trip. What we liked best was sipping those cool Mai Tai's on the porch watching the golden Kona sunset. We also really liked the tennis, pools and golf. Everyone is so friendly here....thank you! We highly recommend Unit 3702 at Kanaloa and we will be back!

Overall we found our experience with unit 3702 enjoyable. The staff at Kanaloa were very helpful and friendly. The unit has an amazing view and is in a great location, close to shopping and not too far from Kailua-Kona. My son enjoyed the 2 pools the complex has and the grounds of Kanaloa are very pretty. Its just too bad the restaurant is closed!
The kitchen needs to be outfitted a little better. Needs to have larger skillets, a cookie sheet, and better knives. The kitchen faucet was broken so you needed to make sure you pushed it down just right to turn off the water. The jacuzzi tub in the master was broken (and looks like it has been for quite some time) while this didn't bother me in the least I am sure it would be nice for others if it was in working order. Also the fan on the lanai needs to be fixed, it gets hot out there!
With a few improvements, this would be a fantastic unit to stay in.

The kitchen has been resupplied with new skillets, a cooking sheet and new knive set. The faucet has been fixed too.
The ceiling fan on the lanai is fixed as well.
The jacuzzi tub in the master bath is going to be removed this spring, so I don't plan on fixing it until after my remodel.
We've stayed at several other Kanaloa condos and they are a great location, quite and have all of the amenties.
Unit 3702 boarders the small bay which is quite and peaceful. Our issues with the unit was that there were several lights that didn't work, and the fan on the lanai didn't work. Both faucets in the master shower weren't installed correctly, the hot was cold and the cold was hot. The kitchen sink also needed some tightening since it wouldn't completely turn off unless it was pushed down. Also the whirlpool tub had a sign on it stating that the motor was being replaced. Based on the sign, (it was dirty, the clear plastic folder that it was in was cracked and had several dead flies in it)the replacement was taking a long time.
This unit wasn't up to par with the other units that we've rented in the past. With a little work it could be.
