We enjoyed our stay, the location was nice, well supplied unit. As Washingtonians we're used to cooler temps so air conditioning would have been nice. The only bad thing was, waking up at 2am to find a 6" centipede in the bathroom, we spent the next 30 minutes tracking it down and killing it, which wasn't easy, they're built like a tank. I understand if it bites you it is extremely painful for quite a while, up to several days.. Makes us a little scared to come back. The manager Joe was a very likable guy, easy to talk to and friendly.

Unit 103 was a perfect base for our holiday. We've stayed in various condos at Nohonani but never this one. It was an extremely welcome sight to see a care package on the table when we first arrived. Lovely touch! Great location in complex although some guests not respectful regarding noise and yelling as they walk past our unit trying to communicate with people in the pool or screaming about the turtles! Joe, the caretaker was friendly and helpful as always and keeps the communal areas in tip top condition.Plenty of linen, BBQ clean and easy to use, proximity to grocery store, fuel and eateries was great. Plenty of parking and the sound of the sea each night was very hard to leave behind! Mahalo until next year!!
Wished we had found this unit years ago

Aloha, and congratulations on finding Nohonani, and Aloha Condo's. This was our first time here, but we will return.
We got a super deal on #103, which was significantly discounted for low season (May). Ground floor is the only way to go in my opinion. You park your car, and are inside the unit in 30 seconds. 6 steps after that, and you are on the beach.
Booking with Aloha Condo's was super easy. Also no VRBO fee, which can be close to a nights rent. Maureen was prompt in responding to all all questions.
The pictures tell you everything. No washer/dryer in the 1 bedroom units, but the complex's machines were right outside our front door. The unit is updated, well maintained, and well stocked. It's the little things like spices, dishwasher detergent, kitchen gadgets, dish brush, beach towels, etc, which make this a home away from home.
Sheri greets you on check in day, and provides a nice welcome gift with coffee and chocolates. Bob is the resident manger, and takes great care of the complex. Maintained daily.
There was a whisper quiet table fan in our unit, which came in useful for us. Just opening the front door and the Lanai door, provided the majority of the cooling however. ===================Find and download a map of complex and you will see all 28 units at Nohonani; 7 are on the ground floor. There are 1 BR and 2BR units on the ground floor. 3 BR units are on the top floor. Some with other rental companies.
#103 is the corner unit, which is beach front.
If you are travelling with kids, being able to sit oceanfront/beachfront on your lanai, but still have an eye on the pool, this could be best unit for you. Pool is 3ft to 7ft deep, so for the little Keiki, you might want one of the other ground floor units, which are pool side. For the most ground floor privacy, you may want to consider #104 to #106. No view of pool, but away from the shower and gate to the beach. While locking your ground floor Lanai door at night is always a good suggestion, we rarely did. Complex is well lit, and felt extremely safe.
There are two BBQ's on site. The pool one gets the most use of course. There other is down by #106.
Ignore all low star ratings. Possibly from people looking for some freebies or refunds. My favorite was the person complaining that the ocean was "too noisy" OK, ya sure. And what's next....the beach was "too sandy"?
For the price we paid, this was the best vacation value we have had in a long time. Wished we had booked Maureen's unit longer. Could have stayed here for 3 weeks, for less than 1 week in a Waikiki hotel room. AND sit right on the ocean, and watch Maui sunsets every night. Bliss.

Ideal Location and Beautiful View
Reviewed by Cassandra
Without a doubt, Unit 103 is a fantastic unit in an absolutely ideal location. The complex itself is located a short drive to Lahaina's downtown. There are nearby grocery stores so you can stock up on groceries and other supplies. It's also close to beautiful beaches suitable for swimming. The beach that's accessible from the complex is small and there seemed to be rocks that would make swimming a little challenging. But the view is truly stunning, and we could (and did!) sit on the wall next to the lanai, looking out at the ocean for hours on end. The unit itself has everything you need. While the unit is older (be careful with the closet sliding door, lest it go off-track!), the unit is in very good shape and was absolutely spotless. We would definitely stay here again.
Poor value for our money
Reviewed by Linda
We paid the premium rate to stay at Nohonani during the holiday season. Unfortunately, we did not get our money's worth. Although the condo was listed as "sleeps 4", we were charged an additional $15/night for the 3rd person. When we arrived, there were no sheets for the sofa-bed and only 2 beach towels. This was quickly resolved with a phone call but we did not receive our "welcome basket" until a second call was made half-way through our stay. The condo itself is run down and grubby. Many of the dishes in the cupboard were very dirty and we later discovered that this was because the dishwasher was not working properly and the cleaners simply put them away dirty. The cupboards looked like they hadn't been cleaned for some time as they were coated in a greasy, dusty film. In addition, there was no kettle, no dish rack and the light over the stove was burnt out, making it very dark for cooking in the small, closed-in kitchen. The private beach is VERY tiny and not very good for swimming due to a series of reefs directly in front. While it was exciting seeing the large turtles that came up onto the beach daily, we got no other use of the beach and had to travel to other beaches in the area. The condo has no privacy, as people walking past the bedroom and living room are able to look right in and beyond to the bathroom area. Consequently, the drapes had to be kept closed, eliminating the ocean view and much-needed air flow. Our daughter was kept awake at night due to people chatting late at night in the breezeway outside our front door. The main bed was comfortable, the shower worked well and the sound of the surf was relaxing. This condo would not be so bad if it had a good cleaning and the rate charged was reasonable. For us, it was a disappointment!

We spent a wonderful week at Nohonani #103. The unit is a little dated, but clean and comfortable. The best part is the location - right on the ocean (you can hear the waves right outside). There's a tiny beach you can walk out to. As other reviews stated, the outdoor shower for the pool is close to the Lanai for this unit, but it was not a problem at all. The condo is also within walking distance of a few stores / restaurants in honokowai and a quick drive to Kaanapali / kapalua beaches.Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this place in a heartbeat.Mahalo!

We absolutely loved the location of Nohonani condos!! We were on 103 right next to the pool and only a few feet from the water!!! Amazing view!!! We listened to the crashing waves all day and night!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The condo itself needs a little tlc. It’s clean but could use some updating in both the interior and the furnishing.. it was well stocked with dishes, towels and linens... I was surprised to not find even small bottles of shampoo and we only were left with a half roll of tp upon arrival. Other than that,we loved our stay. We met both the manager of aloha properties and the condo manager herself. And she brought us a really nice welcome package... looking forward to returning!!

Enjoyed our stay but would have liked for the outside shower to not have been so close to our patio. No privacy. Spent almost 2 weeks in unit 103. Overall we had a wonderful stay, just like we always do at the Nohonani.
Pros: Sherry, the local contact for Aloha Condos, was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly.
Central location of the unit makes easy access to everything and the breezeway helps keep it cooler than other units (our party was also in #106)
Cons: Both screen doors have difficulty staying on their tracks. At least one of them has a broken wheel bearing and should be replaced.
Central location also means more noise from other guests at the pool, Beach, and shower. No privacy when sitting on the patio.
Also we were not able to get the dishwasher to clean properly so we ended up washing everything by hand.
Other than that we loved it!

Condo was great and the staff (Pua and Joe) were awesome. The small secluded beach was fabulous with a small pool topping it all off. My only negative was I was hoping for a little more quite. Two out of our three days there it was very loud with both of the beach and pool areas dominated by one very large family who didn't care about other vacationers. Without this distraction I would have given a 4 star rating.

Unit 103 is where we stayed and it was perfect for us. No a/c wasn't a problem because the cool breeze off the ocean close by. Right next to the pool and equally close to the ocean so you can hear the waves crash. We really liked it! Would stay there again for sure.

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone I know. The location is so perfect! You are right on the water, can go to sleep listening to the waves breaking and wake-up and go snorkeling or shell-hunting in the morning. The sea turtles that frequent this stretch of shore are also an added bonus. There were so many in the water when we stayed in early May.
The condo itself is nice and spacious. Comfy bed with nice, soft sheets, roomy shower, and up-to-date kitchen. You can eat your meals inside at the dining table if it's raining, or enjoy the weather outside on the front patio overlooking the ocean.
Also, when you get in, there's an amazing welcome basket of Hawaiian goodies! It was so nice and we indulged in everything! Macadamia chocolates, Hawaiian-style potato chips, amazing local coffee, great quality canvas totes perfect for heading out to the beach, and various flavors of roasted macadamia nuts. Yum!
A few minor/easy requests I would ask of the owners to make things a bit more hospitable the next time around: • Please supply new, sharp knifes! So hard to cut a pineapple with dull ones.• Please provide new pots - I believe that anytime the non-stick surface of a pan is scratched off, it should go in the trash• Add more pillows to the bed - one pillow per person just doesn't cut it when you're trying to relax and read the paper in the morning• New scrub brush - the one we were supplied with had definitely done its time
Thanks so much for letting us stay at this amazing place!

We were very pleased with our condo rental, very clean. I liked that the washer and dryer were right across from our unit. Very convenient, yet we did not have to hear it or have it take up space in the condo. The grounds were lovely. Very close to the water. The goodies were an unexpected surprise! We enjoyed checking each day to see how many turtles were visiting. It was a new experience to read in a lounge chair on the beach and have a turtle keep me company(though we did not get too close). It was within walking distance of several good places to eat as well as the farmer's market.
Nice beach front unit

We stayed here for about a week in mid September. The unit was nicely furnished, and a wonderful gift basket surprised us, great touch by the owner! We enjoyed staying here since it was right in front of the pool area and had great access to the beach. The communal shower was in front of the unit but it was not a negative at all, everyone was cordial and polite and there was not a lot of foot traffic like some of the others have complained about. The bed was also very comfy and falling asleep to the waves were amazing. However, it could be a little loud for some people. My only complaint was the lack of AC as it was in the 90's and very humid when we stayed. I actually had trouble staying cool as the fans in the unit were just not cool enough for the extreme weather. It was out of the ordinary, but keep that in mind if you book this unit.
Truly oceanfront with resident turtles

We enjoyed a lovely week at Nohonani #103. Wonderful ocean & beach front location - it was literally steps to a sandy beach where we could swim with the turtles. Love the layout of this 1-bedroom unit, with the bedroom on the beach side. Kitchen was small, but serviceable. Tile flooring throughout unit was also wonderful. TV sets in living room and bedroom had been upgraded over those in the online photos - a nice surprise. My only complaint is that the fact that a failing sea wall had caused some sink holes on the property and this was not disclosed to us until after our final payment went through - even though the owner was well aware of the situation at the time that we booked. An Aloha Condos online booking site representative sent a photo of the sink hole promptly in response to our request, and the owner cut $20 per night off the originally booked rate without asking due to the inconvenience caused by the sink hole - there was temporary fencing around the lanai that obstructed our view somewhat when seated and prevented us from using a lawn area. The owner also offered to refund our money entirely, which we considered, but we were unable to find comparable accommodations with less than 30 days notice. When we first found out about the sink hole, we were concerned that the structural integrity of the building might be compromised before we arrived, leaving us with nowhere to stay. As it turned out, the failing sea wall was not a significant problem. It may even have been an advantage in the case of #103 because a sink hole had taken out a walking path right outside the bedroom window, so we got more privacy than we would have otherwise. Last we heard, work to repair the failing sea wall is scheduled to begin on 3/23/2015. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Nohonani #103 very much - clean, comfortable, well-appointed, great location, watched giant sea turtles swimming and sunning themselves on the beach nearly every day. Also a great view for whale watching in season. Only suggestions for improvement I have would be to provide an in-room safe for visitors and a small drying rack or some hooks on the lanai for swimsuits and towels.

Just a lovely little condo that sits right next to the ocean! Very comfortable, clean, well stocked and even has sand chairs and a small cooler to use! Both the owner and the local island person were very quick on the response time. Everything was easy--booking, check-in & out, cleaning service.
The location was even better than described. I've never been in a place closer to the ocean--any closer, and we'd have been swimming at high tide! Turtles lived right off shore and sometimes crawled up on the beach to sleep. Snorkeling was good right there if the tide wasn't too low, then you could just swim out a bit further.
The condo was quite small, but a perfect layout. The ocean was in every room. Sliding doors from the great room and master opened to the patio. The back wall in the great room was mirror. Best suited for 2 people.
The kitchen is tiny, so not recommended if you like to cook. We usually go out every other night and pick up ready-made the others, so it was fine for us.
The place was well-equipped with towels, utensils, and the mattress was really terrific. Must have been quite new...so comfy, with the added benefit of ocean lulling us to sleep.
Overall, after 25 years of coming to Hawaii, this was our favorite place.

This was our 5th time to stay in unit 103, this visit required 2 cleaning fees, additional one our first week, we have never paid that before nor have I even heard of such a thing. I could see offering this as a option to someone who didn't want to clean or change linens, however staying in a condo you expect to do this things. The unit itself is a great location, however the sheets did not fit the bed, no placemats or coasters (help to keep the glass tops clean) I also rented 2 additional units for our kids and grandkids stay along with ours. When we come back will ck again to see if the cleaning is still a 2 time fee, if so will look elsewhere. shower doors very spotty, lime away would clean them up nicely. Screen doors did not lock, but then they never have in 5 stays.

Unit 103, in my opinion, locationally speaking is hands down the best unit in the complex - no one else is a) situated so close to the gate to the beach B) has a retaining wall that is comfortagble enough to sit on for long periods of time that is right outside their patio door and C) has an immediate view of the beach not the pool - The only thing I didnt expect was that there were no cleaning supplies so i had to buy my own kitchen counter cleaner, there was only 1 spare roll of TP and no spare paper towel - And once we bought our own stuff, i never even thought twice about that again. It was just an initial irritation. The management staff,(Joe) while not related to aloha Condos was so friendly and offered lots of information and was a pleasant and friendly face every morning. Cannot wait to go back - a little disappointed to see the 2014 rates go up so much as we already checked for a return in Nov again. May have to find somewhere else due to raise in rates.

Everything about this condo was amazing! We arrived after a very long day of flying from Ottawa, and had no trouble accessing the condo. Parking is easy and right on site. The ocean is literally right outside the doors of this place. You can't help but be mesmerized by it. The pool is large and warm and allows for great views of the islands. The condo was perfect for a couple (or a couple of kids - we hope to return with ours in 5 years!). The living room is exactly as shown in the photos - comfortable, spacious, bright and an awesome view of the islands and sunset each night. The sunsets are spectacular! The kitchen is large enough to prepare a meal and most items are there (oven mitts would be a good item to add). We purchased food at the local Farmer's Market and Safeway in Lahaina and made all of our meals either in the kitchen or on the shared BBQ by the pool. The bathroom was clean and the shower nicely updated and spacious. The king sized bed and large bedroom with patio doors was perfect for this honeymooning couple. Since we were there for 9 days, we really appreciated the dresser provided. Having a working safe would have been nice, as we had our passports and cash and didn't always want to bring them with us to the beach or when we went diving. The beach felt like our own private beach, likely because of the time of year (Sept). There was a turtle who would join us almost every day and it was my husband's favourite animal on the island. We snorkelled a bit in the water outside the condo, but most days the conditions weren't ideal (very windy all day every day). The lanai was great and having pull down blinds was welcomed come 3pm! Our lanai did not have a lounge chair (I understand it will be replaced in the winter), but when I called the woman who manages this condo, she found one for me. I used it everyday, so a big thank you for accommodating my request! We loved this condo so much, we have already recommended it to others going to Maui soon!

It was not a big deal for us as we were in a large group anyway. The bed was very comfortable :) I did feel that this unit could have used a deep cleaning, specifically the floors near the refrigerator and in the bedroom.

If you want to be just steps from the sand and surf, this is the condo for you! You can hear the surf both from the living room and the bedroom. The bedroom has its own sliding glass door out onto the lanai. The strip of beach is small but it is big enough to lay out, make sand castles, and do a little beach combing. You can snorkel right at this location when the water is calm and clear. There are sea turtles that make their appearance on a regular basis. We rented gear from a local shop just down the street. Don't bother renting boogie boards, there are some available to use at the condo as well as some pool toys. I took my kids on this vacation so the resort it is great for both couples and families. My kids loved the pool. It is small but clean and well maintained. Note though, that this a one bedroom with a pull out sofa bed in the living room. The Nohonani Condos are just north of Kaanipali Beach, one of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Maui. Lahaina is about a 10 minute drive south. The parking is free and there is Wifi. The sun sets right outside your door to the west. We saw some spectacular sunsets. The outdoor shower is just steps away from your lanai so there will be people using it often. There is no air conditioning, but you will not need it with the ocean breezes. It was nice to have a kitchen because we bought food and prepared at the condo (mostly sandwiches.) I would definitely rent this condo again. You will not believe the location to the water. That is why I rented it and I was not disappointed.Suzie - Portland, Oregon
