Nihilani at Princeville in Townhome 33a
We stayed at the Nihilani at Princeville in Townhome 33a and couldn't have been happier. We had 4 in our group and the townhouse was big enough for all of us to hang out together playing games and also had enough room to get away... more for some quite reading. This was our third trip to Kauai in 6 years but our first stay in Princeville and going forward, townhome number 33a will be our home base for any future trips to Kauai. Townhome number 33a was as advertised with lots of room and plenty of beach gear such as; chairs, matts, towels, boogie boards, surf boards and coolers for the whole family. The only negative situation we had was the internet connection going down constantly and we had to manually reboot the router about 4-5 times a day but honestly as a parent it was the best way to get the kids off screen time. You will not be disappointed with your stay at this townhome. Thank you Aloha Condo's for a great experience. less

Aloha Lisa, Thank you for your review and we are certainly happy to know you were happy with the condo stay. It is spacious and accommodating and Princeville is a beautiful area! We are glad that you found use for all the beach gear. Just a correction on the surfboards, those are only for the owners use. Sometimes the signage gets lost indicating it is only for the owners use. We just like to make that correction for any potential guests reading this review about the surfboards. We will take a look at the modem and see if switching it out will help. Thanks again for your review and we do hope you can come again.
Great Experience for Our Family!
We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anybody. The unit itself was extremely nice. The Furnishings were well done. There were a few items that are showing wear and tear, but nothing dilapidated. I felt like they really went out... more of their way to make their home your home. In the garage, there are for full size body boards, three little bodyboards, and like four or five surfboards. It made it really nice that we didn't have to rent anybody boards throughout the week. But if you're going to plan on using one of their surfboards, I recommend that you get a Jeep or something else that can handle it. There was no way we were getting a surfboard inside our little rental car. You can rent a surfboard for only $20 a day oh, so that may be cheaper than upgrading to a Jeep for the week. Your call. They also provided six full size beach towels and the bamboo mats to lay them on. This really helped for our trips to the beach. They even have a cooler bag and a couple beach chairs if you want to take your own lunch down there and keep things cold. The main TV downstairs is a smart TV, so you can hook into your Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Etc. It also has a pretty robust cable offering. The kids enjoyed having Wi-Fi while they were there, but it definitely is spotty. We restarted the router at least 20 times during the week. It was a point of frustration for us, but my understanding is that it is more Island related. If it were me, I would make the cable company replace the router. We had the same problem when we first moved into our home and that solved our issue. It's a great location, only 10 minutes from Hanalei Bay and only 5 minutes from the grocery store. The grocery store is definitely geared towards tourists, with lots of food, snacks, and high prices. I recommend a trip to Walmart in Lihue before you head to the condo, but keep in mind it's about an hour drive. You are also only 25 minutes away from Kapaa, which is a great little city for shopping and restaurants. Hee Fat General Store has the best shaved ice. We also picked up a 1000 piece puzzle for those rainy days and left it there for your use. I spent a lot of time researching so can stop researching. This is the best value for the price. You have found it! Aloha! less

Aloha Christopher, Thank you so much for taking the time to write your very detailed review for the unit 33a at Nihilani. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and would love to return. It is a great unit and very spacious and accommodating. We are glad also you enjoyed the amenities but did need to let you know that the surfboards are not for the guests to use. Those are the owners personal boards and should have had a sign indicating for the use of the owners only. However it seems that the signage does get taken down often so you might not have known that. The boogie boards, the beach coolers and the beach chairs are for the guests to use though and glad you made use out of them. Thank you for noting the wifi access. The routers are not the responsibility of the cable company but are the owners personal property. The modem is the cable companies though. We have replaced the router before but we will check into it. You are right though that the island can have more problems with reception in general. Thank for the thoughful idea of leaving the puzzle in the condo. It is appreciated. Thank you for mentioning the value as it is a good deal for the unit size and accommodations. We hope you can come back again soon.
Really enjoyed our stay
We really enjoyed our stay in 33a. The unit was very clean and spacious. It was very nice that the unit had items such as beach chairs, bodyboards, surfboards and sand toys. That was a very nice touch. The unit was also conveniently situated near... more the community pool. The only complaint we had was the internet router needs to be replaced. I believe the router is about to die and needs replacing. We had to reset it multiple times a day. Also, our on island liason was a pleasure to work with as well. He was very helpful and kind. All in all, this was a wonderful place to stay and would love to stay here again if given the chance. less

Amazing house, we would love to go back
The house was bigger and better than we thought it would be from seeing pictures. The "third bedroom" is an alcove without a door, but it worked. The master suite was lovely, and both this bedroom and one of the other bedrooms had small balconies.... more We appreciated the amenities like a coffee pot and blender. It was only a short walk to the pool and jacuzzi, which we also loved. Great options for running throughout the neighborhood and beautiful views. We were also able to walk to Princeville shopping center (30 minutes) and the Princeville Resort (20 minutes). less

aloha Jocelyn,Thank you for taking the time to send in a review in response to our request. We are pleased to hear you were happy with your stay. We just wanted to clarify that the third bedroom is an actual bedroom. The alcove/den that is open without a door is a fourth space in addition to the three bedrooms which has a single bed. We hope you will be able to return again soon.
We have used Aloha Condos previously and stayed in similar condos in the Nihilani community and have always enjoyed staying with them. However, were visiting in September, and upon arrival we ran into our first problem, which was that there was a car in the... more second spot of the 2 car garage. I saw it from the pictures, but did not realize it is a permanent part of the condo and we had 2 cars. We resolved the issue by having to park down the street at the visitor's spot, but it was quite inconvenient as we did not know this would be an issue. Furthermore, we had no idea that the pool was closed for September. After contacting Aloha Condos, they stated it was in the agreement, however, it was at the end of a VERY long email after we had already booked the place. I felt it should have been put in the listing for the condo before booking as the pool was very important to our trip. The positives? The condo is absolutely beautiful and kept up to date. They had everything needed to cook, and feel like you were at home. They even had many options for streaming on the television for rainy days. It is perfect for 7 adults as there are only queen/king size beds. Overall, it's a beautiful condo, I just wish there was more transparency in the listing. Will definitely stay again with Aloha Condos. less

Aloha Alyssa,Thank you for your feedback for the condo 33a at Nihilani. We are glad you found the condo kept up and clean and everything you needed. This townhome has always had just one space in the garage available for the guests to use and is stated on the website as such. We are very detailed in the features and amenities and descriptions for all to read and make sure it is a fit for them. We are sorry you did not see the banner we had posted also on the webisite about the pool being renovated during that time frame. We actually had the banner there at the top of the page highlighted in yellow since Feb 2018 so it would be noticed also so all could read and decide if this was an issue for them before booking. We see you booked in Jul 2018 so the banner was there to see before booking. You mention that it also was on the emails we sent too which do we as a reminder as we sent out emails all along the way. Truely because many guests book on line, the website is the avenue and reference for the guest to read and decide and all we can do it put the information there in hopes that it is read. The garage information is in the description area under "garage" and explains the parking is only for 1 vehicle. Any banners about up and coming issues or notices is on the website during the booking process before confirming highlighted in yellow. We are sorry you did not see that information and it was a surprise for you.
Exceptional Say as Expected!
2nd time staying with Aloha Condos! You can definitely expect 100% cleanliness at their condos! I hate to complain about anything however the sliding glass door to the downstairs patio was difficult to open, luckily I had my strong husband to help out with that.... more This condo is very big and very well spread out! Also, just FYI, there are no TV's in the 2 smaller bedrooms, only in Master bedroom and little loft. We always like to leave something for the next guests to use in the kitchen like seasonings, foil, plastic wrap, extra paper towels are always useful for cleaning up. We even donated dish soap! The beach cooler, chairs and umbrella that are in the garage area a "Must have" and very helpful when packing your car for the beach! Aloha Condos are very friendly and trustworthy, what you see in the pictures is what you get when you arrive! Enjoy! less

The condo exceed our expectations. Beautiful location and property. The condo complex is beautifully maintained . We loved sitting each morning in our private lanai and watching the birds and little lizards while drinking our coffee in beautiful surroundings. The inside of the condo was... more very clean , spacious , and up dated . It was perfect for our family vacation . Easy to find and accessible . Can not wait to go back to Kauai and defiantly will be staying here again less

30 and counting!
We just returned from Kauai having celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Traveling with our son and his fiancé along with our 80yo mom to renew our vows, we needed a larger home so everyone could stay more comfortably. We always use Aloha Condo's for our... more stays on island but normally stay at a Hanalei Bay Resort condo. This home was an AMAZING treat! It truly felt like home and we were sad to leave. If you decide to stay in 33a... two things: Take care of it as I'm sure we'll be back! Probably NOT a good idea to rent something as large as a Chevy Tahoe... it was an adventure parking it in the garage each time! LOL We like to save the real adventures on a hike into Wai'poo Falls or a trek down to Hide-a-way Beach's "Hawaiian Ice" rope trail 😳 Coolest Aloha! less

Princeville vacation stay
This was a wonderful property to rent in the Princeville area. It was very clean and up to date. Beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with all the pots and pans, etc. needed to cook a family meal. Another bonus was the... more proximity to the pool. less

Nihilani Delivers Again!
Frequent visitor to Princeville and Nihilani is both a great location and has the best pool. Unit was in great shape and the manager was easily available for incidentals. No hesitation on recommending.

Aloha, Thank you for taking the time to post a review for the unit 33a at Nihilani in Princeville. Princeville is a beautiful location and it is a great unit! Thank you for noting the availability of the management company and for your future recommendations!
Long needed vacay
Our stay at the nihilani was perfect! The condo was clean and perfectly prepared for our family to have a great vacation! During our stay on Kauai it rained everyday and having the pool and jacuzzi as added amenities to utilize while not out surfing... more or beaching it was perfect! We were more than comfortable and it was a quite, comfortable environment that completed a long over due vacation! THANK YOU! We hope to be back soon! less

Thank you for posting a review for unit 33a at Nihilani. Perfect are the type of adjectives we like! This is a great unit, spacious and accommodating and we are so glad you enjoyed! We hope you will stay with us again in your next trip! Thank you for your business.
Spacious and clean condo
We only stayed two nights at the Nihilani townhouse while waiting for an oceanfront condo to open up. It was very spacious and immaculately clean with really comfortable beds. The location is only about one mile from the St. Regis and it's a very pleasant,... more easy walk. It's a great place for the price but did not have much outdoor space or a view of any kind. It is very close to the lovely pool. Would be fine if you plan to spend most of your time out and about and want to return to a quiet and comfortable space. Otherwise, it feels like you could be Anywhere, USA. The rental company was excellent and very responsive! less

The condo was nice, the neighbors not so much
These condos have 1 shared drive way for 3 units. This should not be a big issue since each has a garage to park in. However, several times we had the neighbors (who appear to live there and not be other vacation renters) park their... more car in the drive way so we could not get in or out. On another occasion as we were pulling out of the driveway, I realized that my child's seatbelt was not buckled properly. We stopped for literally 30 seconds while I fixed the seatbelt and then proceeded to pull out of the driveway to leave. As we were driving away the neighbor ran out of her condo screaming after us for "parking in the driveway." We had several other encounters with this neighbor who seemed annoyed that we were there. She was very rude and scared my children with her yelling. Our other issue was residents not watching their children in the pool. There were groups of young children playing in the pool without supervision and behaving very dangerously, trying to drown each other and going after my very young kids who were playing by themselves. The condo itself was very nice, but we will not stay there again. less

We stayed on Kaua'i during the last weekend in April. We split our time between Poipu and Princeville. This particular unit at the Nihilani at Princeville is perfect all around. The unit itself is clean and very comfortable to "live" in, and is literally right... more next to the pool. There are a plethora of items in the garage for our use: Ice chest, beach chairs, childrens sand buckets, tubes, boogie boards etc. They provided a highchair and playpen for my child and had it set up on our arrival. All these things made our stay so much easier, especially with 2 children. The only problem we encountered (which was NOT the fault of the owner) during our stay was with the AC, it seemed to be on the fritz which made the house hot and stuffy on arrival. Windows and doors were opened and helped cool the house down, but it was pretty cumbersome to keep closing/opening them when leaving and returning home. Despite this small glitch, the contact person regarding the unit was very responsive to all my emails regarding not just the AC problem, but all questions and concerns leading up to our arrival. Lastly, these are not "cons", but just a few small factors to consider before staying here so that you can prepare: There is only room for one car in the garage. If a big family were to stay here and had more than one car, I'm not sure how that would work. Also most places allow early check ins/late check outs if there is no one renting right before or after, but the policy in place charges extra for this. If these things don't affect your visit, then I would definitely reserve this unit for it's location, cleanliness and all around comfortable feel. less

Aloha, Thank you for the great rating of 5! This townhome is very spacious and does have lots of amenities that accommodate a beach vacation. We are sorry we did have a problem with the AC during your stay but it has been looked at and repaired since then. As you mentioned there is only space for one car in the garage, however with advance notice, the resident manager will give a pass to guests if available for an outside space to park an extra car. We do charge for early check ins or late checkouts because the owners then cannot book those dates to potential last minute guests which does happen a lot. However if the schedules allow on the day of arrival or the day of departure you can contact us and we can see if we can give you some extra time as a courtesy. Thank you for your complimentary comments on the location, the cleanliness and the comfortable feel!
We recently stayed in Townhome 33a and 11c from Aloha Condos. They are directly across the street from each other and accomodated our family of 12 perfectly. Both condos are spotless, well decorated, and the facilities at the resort are top notch. We loved the... more North Shore and this resort was fabulous. Everything about our stay was perfect!! We definitely plan to... more stay here again in the future! Close to lots of great spots and beautiful area to go for morning and evening walks. Aloha, Perfect is a word we like to hear! Thank you for your glowing review and taking the time to post it. It is a great condo in a wonderful and beautiful location on Kauai’s majestic North shore. The spacious townhome has everything one might need and is very much like a home away from home. The rules in this complex and others in the area are just to make sure all our guests are not disrupted while trying to enjoy their vacation and of course for safety reasons. We do try to keep the pricing to a level that makes it very competitive and affordable. Thank you again!
Comfy and spacious
LOVED our stay at 33a in Nihilani. The condo was very roomy for my family. After playing all day and exploring the gorgeousness of Kauai, it was a restful and comfortable place to come home to. The swimming pool and hot tub are a minute... more walk away which were a great way to end the day. Location of this condo was ideal for us. Shopping center nearby and the stunning northshore beaches that many drive more than an hour to get to took us 30 min or less. It was one of the most memorable family vacations we have ever taken and 33a helped make it that way! less

Great accommodations but not very kid friendly
The grounds were beautiful and well kept as was the subdivision itself. The condo interior was clean, spacious, and well maintained. The pool and BBQ area was awesome, however the pool was cold since it wasn't heated at all and that wouldn't have been a... more big deal but the hot tub was broke the week we were there. It left a lot to be desired and we found that we didn't use the pool much because of that. Couple that with the fact that it was cool outside due to a cold front and we found ourselves avoiding the pool. Our kids were shivering when they got out. Maybe a bit dramatic but it was disappointing to not have a heated pool or working hot tub. Regarding the area, I wouldn't call this condo community "kid friendly". The pool rules stated "NO PLAYING MARCO POLO", no yelling, and no loud noises - which is a little challenging with small children. I would say my kids are well behaved, however I found this rule to be a little much. As I said before the grounds were beautiful, however there is not any yard space for them to play outside. The condo rules also stated no yelling, which I completely understand when inside as I don't allow roughhousing in my own home. However, every time my kids went outside to play on the small patch of grass I felt like I had to keep telling them to "whisper" or "shhh", afraid that they would disrupt the neighbors. The neighborhood was quiet which was nice but the stress to keeping the noise down was overbearing. Is this a retirement community? You can't miss all the signs and rules saying to keep the noise down. It was definitely stressed. Now we knew the rules coming in or at least before we arrived. We found the sheer amount and detail of the rules to be daunting. For adults, we can manage ourselves to the expectations but it gets much harder with kids. When the rules state you basically have to shower between interactions with the bed or furniture, this is a bit much. I understand the purpose, I do. But the rules were so exhaustive, it created a stressful situation for us managing our children. Again, our kids are well behaved but they are kids. All in all, I would recommend staying at this condo. Would I stay here again, yes. Even though it was challenging keeping the kids voices down at times, it's definitely something you can control. The property manager was easy to work with and laid back. Our agent at Aloha Condos was also very nice to work with and friendly. We would stay here again, now knowing what to expect. I guess for us, knowing how strictly enforced the rules are would be something that might lighten the stress load. There was NEVER anyone coming around telling us to keep it down or citing us with violations. It was the perceived strictness due to the reiteration of the rules everywhere. That was the only downer. less

Aloha, Thank you for your review for the unit 33a at the Nihilani at Princeville. It sound like you were pleased with the unit itself and found everything to be maintained and clean. It is a very spacious and accommodating unit. Thank you for the mention of the beautiful landscaping which in Kauai does take a lot of work with the rate of growth. We have never had any complaints from the complex or the property management about noise levels from kids playing. I believe that this might not be a problem unless the noise levels were beyond the normal day time activities and an extended period of time. The no playing “Marco Polo” might have been more of a liability issue with someone getting hurt from swimming with their eyes closed. We understand that you said the weather was a bit chilly for some of your stay and you had wished the pool was heated. I do not believe there are too many pools in Kauai that are heated as it is quite an expense to keep that much water to a higher temperature. We wish that the hot tub would have been available for you. However things do break down and of course there is a turnaround time frame getting them back up and running. I have spoken with the onsite property manager and he said it is up and running again. Aloha and Mahalo, Kristen J. Greene PHD, Owner Vacation Realty Hawaii and Greene Guest Services
