Great Location

Great location, fantastic views and the accommodations were great. Large shower, toaster and microwave were nice to have in the room. Beach towels provided. Definitely would come back!

Great Location and Customer Service, Below Average Cleaning

This property had changed ownership a few weeks before I rented. To be fair, the new owners seemed very interested in making improvements to the property and had great customer service. This property has a spectacular location. Along with public access to the beach comes the need for visitors to be vigilant. Early one morning, about 40m from my condo’s lanai, there was a very large bonfire on the beach that security (?firefighters) had to come and extinguish. Also, once in a while you will find vagrants tucked under the roots of the trees on the beach. I see a security guard walking the property often, while he was mostly looking at his phone while walking, I felt more secure knowing there was someone at least on the property with the job of security. The customer service for this condo was great because they were responsive and really listened to my needs. Also, this property changed the new property owner was very responsive and interested in continuous improvement of their new purchase. The quality of the cleaning service for this tiny condo needs improvement. It’s worth calling out because as renters, we are paying for a cleaning fee. In this experience, I definitely did not get my moneys worth of cleaning. The kitchen items were not cleaned very well for example the toaster oven had a small metal pan to use in it that was full of crumbs and Greece. The wine glasses were greasy. And most of the silverware did not appear as clean as it could be. The bathroom smelled of cleaner, but there were corners with small amounts of mold. I regret giving the cleaning service a $20 tip on the first day of my stay! The linens (comforter, sheets, and pillows) were past their prime. They smelled like sweat and perfume. It was challenging to sleep that first night because of the smell. The great customer service remedy this problem by bringing new linens and pillows which made the stay much more comfortable. It seems like the new owner is focused on quality and a good experience for renters, so I would consider renting here again. less

Loved this place

Had to be the most relaxing experience of my entire life, from the amazing beach view and falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night to chilling in the hot tub and meeting all types of nice people. Not to mention there’s a cute coffee shop and some other nice stores right in walking distance. 10/10 would recommend! less

Our 25th Anniversary Blah!

The unit was moderately cleaned prior to visit. Tile grout was very dirty as it had never been cleaned. Mold under front of metal lip on kitchen sink counter top. Coffee pot was filthy as it had never been cleaned and we could not use it. Need major vinegar cleaning. Blackout curtains do not close properly and light comes in morning. AC did not adjust and was always cold no matter what temp you set it at. Mattress seemed worn and sinks in to much. Make sure you pull front door closed as it does not close completely unless door is pulled shut. Hinges on front door are very squeaky. Lanai sliding glass door needs wheels replaced as you have to push it hard to close. Watch your drinks on lanai table as it is uneven and our dinner drinks spilled. Furniture looks worn. Bath tub has rust on bottom side. Candle wax on bathroom counter from previous guest(I assume) that was not cleaned off. Paint is all white on walls and trim and looks like a hospital. No contrast with colors. One good thing view from lanai is nice. less

Oceanfront and Great Price!

Absolutely love this condo! The view was gorgeous, the grounds of the condo are gorgeous, and there are plenty of shops nearby! The location is also hard to beat, as you can easily drive to North Kauai or West Kauai with ease! Condo is super clean and we will definitely be coming back! less

Oceanfront convenient comfortable

Hard to beat this view. Great sunrises. Accurate pictures and descriptions. Everything went smoothly. Could use more beach towels for 7 days otherwise perfect.

1st Time to Kauai

First time visit to Kauai and we were very happy with the condo. The location was ideal as a central starting point for day trips. The ocean view was amazing and just as advertised. I didn't realize though that the beach where the resort is located has rough waves and not ideal for swimming. We still went in but not very much. The caution signs on the beach were a little unnerving. The condo itself was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very convenient to have the microwave, fridge, toaster oven, cups, dishes, etc. -- we used it all! Julie was responsive to our questions and easy to communicate with. We loved the resort pool/hot tub and even used the grill. We loved being able to walk to the Coconuts shopping center for the shops and restaurants. All very convenient! Areas of improvement: taller outdoor furniture for the balcony since the regular height caused the top rail to be right in my sightline. More attention to detail in cleaning. The condo was clean enough but you could tell that there was still some overlooked areas with dirt/dust/hair. The mattress was very firm. Better than sleeping on the floor but it was not the most comfortable bed. less

Truly Paradise

First: Mahalo and Aloha to Julie, the owner, who keeps these treasures available to so many!! We can not thank you enough! This is the fourth time we have stayed at Islander, both in 224 & 225. It's been a week since we got back (boooo), and I can still close my eyes and feel the air, hear the ocean, smell the greenness and the freshness. You will be oceanfront. Don't - do NOT - try to stint on your vacation by being non-oceanfront. Eat Top Ramen & Lunchables for dinner if you have to (we did). Don't miss out on the early morning sunrise over the water, the moonlight paths across the sea, the sight of a whale spout (we saw one!) or just the chance to watch others on the edge of the world, looking out, watching. You'll have other things around you, with the market in the Coconut Marketplace right there (the burgers and french dip sandwich were amazing) and Wailua Shave Ice by Safeway (JoJo's is in the Coconut Marketplace, but was out of ice cream for our entire visit, and the faded "No Ice Cream" sign and hopeless looks on the employee's faces as they told people "we might get some tomorrow" hinted that they had been out for a long time indeed) and the multitude of restaurants and snorkel rental shops. But when your day is done, you will come back here, and you will never want to leave. less

1st Timers to Kauai

Hi, We really enjoyed our time in the unit. The location was outstanding. We've never stayed that close to the ocean so that was a treat. The communications via email and text was EXCELLENT. If you're looking for suggestions, we have two: 1) A bar-height table and two barstools would be better for seeing the ocean and beach. The current chairs put you at eye level with the railing on the balcony. 2) The furniture and fabrics could be updated. They are in good shape but the unit feels a bit dated. We would definitely stay there again even if everything was exactly the same as this visit. Jim less

— Jim, Stayed 04/09/2022

Aloha condos

Everything was great. The only way to make it better would be sharper knives in the kitchenette and something to turn hamburgers.

— Terry, Stayed 04/05/2022

GREAT LOCATION- GREAT PEOPLE

The location and views are outstanding. The unit needs a little TLC but in general a very nice stay. Will be coming back for sure

— Lowell, Stayed 03/28/2022

Beautiful view

The view is outstanding but the condo needs updating. There is a hard bed and crappy pillows and a table with 2 chairs but no where else to sit. So the condo was nice but not anything special. No elevator and on 2nd floor so not for physically challenged. less

— Stanley C, Stayed 02/22/2022

Wonderful!

We loved our stay in Julie's studio. It was just enough room for us and the view from the lanai is simply AMAZING! We were thrilled that there were beach chairs and a cooler for us to use for our time spent on the beach. We loved the location, so easy to walk to nearby restaurants, bars and of course Island Country Market (ABC Store). We also enjoyed the on-site Tiki Bar...great Mai Tai's! Would definitely recommend staying here and if we come back to Kauai, we'll try and get this same unit. less

— HEIDI, Stayed 01/27/2022

Amazing views from the Lani

The views from this condo from the Lani are amazing. I was privileged to watch the sunrise our first morning here and was in awe of the beauty with the ocean in the background. The condo has just what we needed for our stay and the grounds are very nicely kept. Would definitely recommend staying here. less

— Kelly, Stayed 10/16/2021

We loved it here!

This place is awesome! We arrived to a perfectly clean and nicer room than we had expected. The view of the ocean is gorgeous. We kept the doors open and slept to the sounds of the waves. We really enjoyed our evenings here as well! We took advantage of the BBQs by the pool and it’s actually a pretty social area in the evenings. Condos are super close to a shopping center with lots of restaurants and a mini mart that you can walk 2 minutes to! We’d highly suggest going to Chicken in a Barrell! I don’t think you can get much better than this for the price. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in Kauai! less

— Cassidy, Stayed 04/28/2021

Enjoy the View

One of the nicest places to stay in Kauai is room 225 at the Islander on the Beach. The room faces the ocean and we spent many hours enjoying the sights from our lanai. The room had all of the essentials for travel: clean towels and bedding, basic appliances and a large comfortable bed. It was also a pleasure to work with the owner, Julie, who helped to guide us through the reservation process. We hope to stay there again in our future visits to Kauai. We cannot wait to return! less

— Diana, Stayed 11/26/2020

Relaxing stay at our home away from home.

We stayed in Unit 225 this time; usually 224. They are both the same; beautiful, clean and a perfectly beautiful view of the ocean. If you had enough sun for the day sit on the couch or bed and look outside; it's just like being in a chair on the beach. The unit reminds us of a cottage; cute, simple but filled with character. Walk outside & there's a restaurant to the left, right of beach & 2 more next door. All have music except the fish eatery. There are plenty more in walking distance or a short drive away. Islander is in the middle of the island; easy to navigate to all sights. The pool and hot tub are delightful. Tiki bar is great! This was our 3rd year at the condos. Hoping to go back again. less

Kauai stay

Nice condo but a little dated. Did not realize it didn't have a kitchenette. We at lots of breakfasts at the Market.

— Andrew, Stayed 02/11/2020

Right on the beach

The room was small but adequate. The view was unbeatable. Crashing surf 24/7. Very healing. Strip mall right behind the resort so everything you need is in walking distance. Kapaa is quaint even as traffic was quite congested. Pool, was great. I could swim laps. Hot tub was also nice. Wifi was strong and consistent. Second floor unit so up one flight of steps. Tenants above were not bothersome but you heard them infrequently. Management was responsive. I loved it. I'd go back in a heartbeat. less

— John, Stayed 01/06/2020

Amazing Location in need of TLC

The location is absolutely perfect and the grounds were very well kept by the Aston Islander. However the furniture in this unit is outdated and the unit needs a thorough cleaning. The towels and bed sheets could use a better detergent too... With upgraded furniture and a better cleaning crew, this centrally located, charming unit would be beyond amazing!!! less

Perfect View Homey Feel

Lovely stay in #225 Islander on the Beach. Perfect location to explore both the north and south shores of Kauai. Beachfront views allowed for sunrise greeting on the balcony. Comfy bed and loved the quilt unit is complete with chairs and cooler. Coffeemaker and some extras in the cabinet filed my needs. Microwave + Toaster oven incl. Beach condo

The condo was great! Everything you needed. Wonderful ocean view and sounds. However a really bad issue with the front door not working properly. It needs a new lock. Very inconvenient trying to get in!

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for your review. I sent my handyman to work on it the day you reported the problem. He told me at the end that the key works reasonably good. We had a locksmith service the lock and it should work properly now. As always you can call our local contact anytime with any issues. Thanks again! - Julie

relax ,refresh ,and rejuvenate

This room was everything and more we could hope for . The beach front room was quiet and had a breeze coming into it all day long. W e used the BBQ'S most night to cook dinner with a everything we needed with in a close proximity to the resort. The kitchenette was perfect for toasting a bagel or banana bread to start the day. The resort was close to our daily activities . we would recommend this room and resort . Very easy to communicate with the owner and manager and nothing was a issue . thank you for a great holiday. less

Great Stay!

The room was great! Perfect size, the air conditioner kept out just enough humdity to sleep comfortably and when it was cool outside, we slept with the patio door open so we could hear the waves. It's not fancy, the place is worn but so cozy and welcoming. If I had one negative, it would be that they could probably use some new white bathroom towels, the ones we had were pretty dingy but smelled clean so it was fine. I would book this exact room again. Beautiful view. less

Great Value in a Ocean View Condo

The tidy, well kept unit has incredible views and a great central location for adventuring all over the island. The unit comes well furnished with essentials including a cooler to borrow. Waking up to an ocean side sunrise jumpstarted our daily adventures. Very pleased with the condo and happy with the price. Would book again. less

Great view from the room

We got into the resort late at night. When I opened up the sliding glass door on the balcony and heard the crashing of the waves I was very pleasantly surprised. I knew we would have an ocean view but didn’t realize it’d be so close. We spent every morning on the beach watching the beautiful sunrises. It was definitely great place to stay. The condo room itself is nothing fancy, but it was clean and so close to the water. less

— Tim, Stayed 02/27/2019

Needs some TLC

225 at the Islander has much potential. This was the 3rd unit we stayed in during our time on Kauai. It does have a stellar view from the lanai and when we arrived, smelled fresh and looked very clean. But it requires maintenance and looks very tired: The front door sticks and is difficult to close without a loud bang, the lanai furniture is literally on its last legs, AND the bed squeaks whenever anyone turns over in the bed. Doesn't make for a restful sleep for sure. The decor is ok but not very appealing. This place could be spectacular with some TLC. As well, this was the only condo that we stayed in that demanded a security deposit of $350.00. All in all, probably would not return. less

— A Kauai visitor, Stayed 02/20/2019

Affordable luxury with a view!

My wife and I stayed here for a few days on our honeymoon. The oceans views, watching the sunrise from bed over the ocean and keeping our patio door open all night for the sea breeze were the highlights of this place. The close market had good food and all the travel necessities and gifts you may need. We did run out of toilet paper on the last day, luckily we had some of our own. Also, we got a warning on our vehicle for parking without a pass which we were not given or told about. less

— Adam, Stayed 12/09/2018

Owner/Manager Response

Glad you enjoy your stay. Sorry for the short in toilet paper. You can give my on-island manager and ask her to stock it. She is very responsive. The parking permit requirement is written in the instructions in the email you received. You must have missed it when you read that. Luckily nothing happens.

Fantastic view, very comfortable stay

Our stay in Condo 225 was very relaxing. From the time we landed, till the day we left - the views from the balcony were phenomenal. Everyday we would wake up and catch sunrise with coffee. The resort is ideally located too. There is a convenience store close by which tends to be more expensive than the Safeway further down the road. But for smaller items - you cannot beat its location. You can walk to it. There are couple of good restaurants on their side of condo as you walk along the beach. One of them (Lava Lava) has a show at around 6pm which pleasantly surprised us. The only feedback I would give is to update the cabinets. Due to the weather and humidity, their age is beginning to show. Otherwise no complaints. less

— Chad, Stayed 12/01/2018

Lovely Ocean View

Spectacular ocean view from the balcony. Having a second floor condo allowed us to fall asleep to the ocean waves. And a sunrise with a cup of coffee every morning was amazing. The condo was clean and about the size of a small hotel room with a small sink and a well supplied kitchenette. Would not suit us for longer than a few days. We loved walking to nearby restaurants. Traffic backups were common. Also disappointed that there wasn't a longer walking path, but there was easy access to nearby beaches from our unit. less

— Stephen F, Stayed 11/01/2018

Great stay, great condo!

I loved staying in this condo: Steps away from snorkeling, sunbathing, the pool, a great market, food places, a wonderful coffee house and the perfect bar by the pool!! I hardly drove my car! Sitting on the lanai with an evening drink was fabulous and waking up every morning to a wonderful sunrise viewed from the lanai was fabulous as well!! I also enjoyed the walking path located right downstairs...a great way to get a few steps in before lazing by the ocean or pool. I was a solo visitor and felt very safe in this perfect, clean condo! It was the perfect size for me and could have held another easily. I hope to stay here again when I visit Kauai! I definitely recommend this place! less

Very enjoyable stay

Location! Location! Location! Can you imagine the thrill that we had upon our first visit to Kauai, when we arrived at our condo to find this ocean view out our Lana’i? Spectacular to say the least!… The condo is not large, but was well suitable for our needs, and very well-kept. I would highly recommend staying here, and may very well come back myself on a future visit... less

Condo 225

We had a very pleasant stay at the Islander on the Beach condo 225. We loved the old feel of the whole place reminiscent of the days when first vacation in Kauai in the early 80s. The place was clean and just the right square footage for two people. It was very homey and comfortable. Thank you Julie Buckmaster for keeping the place well stocked. We’d come back again. less

Studio Hilton

This unit is smallish for two people and both my wife and I are not big either. On the other hand it is equipped with everything that you would need to a certain point. I like the touch of a umbrella, beach towels, and tommy Bahama beach chairs. The location was in a good area and our ocean view was magnificent. Perfect for one person and a child perhaps. less

— Steven, Stayed 08/09/2018

Beachfront Condo

The apartment on the 2nd floor but is steps to the beach, you can see the ocean crashing the shoreline in your condo balcony and you can see ocean spray on the balcony screen door. The condo has equipped with many amenities, the kitchenette has more than you would find at normal hotel rooms. It not only comes with a mini fridge, it also comes with a microwave and a toaster oven. It has plates, cups, utensils, foil, sponge, dish washing soap for all your small cooking needs. The bathroom has bath towels, hand/face towels, and beach towels. In the shower it has caddy that holds shampoo, hair conditioner, and shower gel. (It doesn't share what brand each are) The bathroom sink has a bottle of what seemed to be hand soap (no pump) - but I couldn't tell. I did not use its shampoo/conditioner or the bottle of hand soap, I used the shower gel when I wash my hands at the sink, otherwise I brought my own toiletries. The blow dryer turns on but it does not work. The bed is squeaky even just sitting on it otherwise very comfortable. A/C works and it was needed because it was so hot outside. We spent two days staying in the hotel room working on our laptops and there were constructions happening next door (or upstairs) for about 2 hours the first day and 1 hour the 2nd. Most people would be out and about during that time so you probably wouldn't notice it. Wifi has no issues, it's great! TV works and has abundance of channels to choose from. (select tv -> click power, select cable -> click power) balcony is great, but there are a lot of foot traffic to and from the beach - if you are looking at private beachfront this isn't for you. The only other issue I have besides the bed being squeaky is the parking at night. There are ample of parking during the day but at night (after ~8:30pm), the parking fills up - some with car passes, some without. There is a lounge on property so I think that's why there are more cars than there are parking if people are enjoying food/entertainment at the lounge. We had to call the front desk to ask what to do and they said the Coconut Marketplace is their filler parking, if you have a car pass, you can park there for the night. If there are any concerns, the contact number for the local point of contact is printed on the wall - we had a hard time finding the AC remote and I called, and found the remote on the wall. The lady on the phone was super nice. Overall this location is fabulous! Close to the beach & close to shops and restaurants. During one of our stay, a seal was sleeping on the beach! less

Great condo at Islander on the Neach

225 Was a nice condo on the second floor directly on the beach...we enjoyed keeping just the screen door closed at night so that we could hear the sound of the ocean all night long. The condo complex is beautiful and the condo has just a small kitchenette which is perfect for making a meal or two a day of you like. The bed was also very comfortable. The weather was unusually rainy but this location was good for trying to go to what ever part of the island had some 🌞 sun less

Review of Unit 225

Wonderful unit with a great location and view. Tastefully decorated and kitchenette is perfect size. King size bed is very comfortable. The resort is in a great location and within walking distance to restaurants and stores. A few housekeeping suggestions: Grab bars and a hook on the bathroom door would be helpful. Upon arriving the floor was sticky. Floors should be wet mopped before new guests. The hairdryer did not work. We very much enjoyed our stay and would like to return next winter. less

No bugs ever encountered in or outside. The landscaping is mature and kept up beautifully. Loved the 2 beach chairs. toaster, microwave, sink, refrigerator. Beyond impressed and happy

We loved condo 225, great view we just happen to be there during a full moon so the evening view was AWSOME. Very comfortably bed, clean room that had every accommodations possible. We were able to BBQ by the pool, walked down to the restaurant Lava Lava serveral times which was just a quick stroll from us and having the ABC store within walking distance was very convenient. The parking lot was being redone so we did have a difficult time finding parking but that was uncontrollable. Our refrigerator broke and my husband and I were amazed when in less than 8 hours we had a brand new refrigerator. We highly recommend this condo and we will be back, thank you Julie!! Beachfront 225

We had a wonderful stay with the ocean waves putting us to sleep each night! The condo is great and the pool bar and adjacent restaurant was terrific! Beautiful Month in Kauai

Our 6th straight year staying at Islander on the Beach but first in 225. Had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The new dishware was an added plus. Plenty of towels and shower necessities also. Sitting on the lanai in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the sunrise was a great start to the day. No fault to the condo owner but the one big complaint is the lack of parking spaces for the visitors. Already reserved our room for next year (for a month). less

Great View; So Relaxing

The view from the condo is spectacular; it was amazing to sit on the lanai and either watch or listen to the waves crash down, and it was nice to have the screen door so we could sleep with the sliding door open. The price of the condo was great for the location, and we really appreciated having dishes and the microwave and toaster in the room. Lots of towels and beach towels also came in handy. The sheets, bathroom rug and shower curtain could use a refresh, but otherwise, we were completely satisfied with our stay and would love to come back as soon as possible. We visited in January and didn't really need the air conditioner, but appreciated having it when the room got too musty. The beach outside was beautiful, but the waves were a little too hard for swimming or wading, and the sand is also kind of rough. We did see some people snorkeling while we were there. Pool bar was the activity hub for the resort every night, and we highly recommend the Hukilau Lanai next door for dinner. less

Islander on the Beach

We love our unit #225, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and waking up to watch the sunrise is the best. The grounds are well maintained as well is the pool. Great little Tiki Bar by the pool. This was our 3rd time staying and won't be our last. less

Highly recommend!!!

Julie was such a wonderful host! She was extremely helpful and responsive prior to our stay. We had everything we needed in the condo, and it was clean and comfy. Everything was so simply and easy that we had no hang ups getting in or out, and the place was at the PERFECT spot! LOVE the ocean view from the balcony - if you're a morning coffee drinker, you'll especially appreciate it. The condo is right on the beach and Kapa'a is a wonderful town. You're in a great central location for traveling to different spots on the North & South side of the island if you rented a car (not sure about the West, we didn't really make it over there but I'm sure it's not too bad either), but I could've spent all 4 days just wandering around Kapa'a and laying on the beach too. 10-15 minutes from Lihue airport which was awesome. We look forward to staying again!! Mahalo, Julie!!! less

Condo 225

We had a wonderful stay at your condo. As always we so enjoyed being right on the beach. Thank you for getting us the toaster oven so quickly. The condo was well supplied, especially after the mid term cleaning when we got a good supply of towels, even beach towels. The lamp over the dining table does not work which I let Monica know . But it was not repaired. I also asked her to please clean the bed side lamp because the skirt on the woman has a very, very thick layer of dust in all the folds. It wasn't cleaned. Just for your information. Aloha, Per and Lilli Zeeberg less

I miss you Kauai.

I had a great vacation. The unit was clean, bed was comfy, the view was great, and I liked the location of the resort. Its was close to good restaurants. Some within walking distance too, which was perfect. its about a hour and 15 to Waimea Canyon and around 50 I'd guess to the end of the road on north shore. Its about 15 minutes from the airport. The pool and pool cabana were nice and fun to hangout at and meet people after coming back from adventuring around the island for the day. I vacationed solo and would recommend this place anytime. The island is heavinly for sure. Hopefully there is a next time! Mahallo., Until we meet again! less

Unbelievable view!

Couldn't have asked for a better location. Being on the east side allowed us the best access to all parts of the island. The view was amazing, all we had to do was look out our door and we saw the ocean. We were seconds from the beach that was wonderful for walking. We kept our door open at night and got to listen to the waves crashing...best white noise machine ever!!! There is a restaurant within 1 minutes walking distance called the Kiluea Fish Market which was fantastic! There is also a little market on the other side of the parking lot with cute shops. The condo was well equipped with chairs and a cooler, as well as a good selection of kitchen items. We would absolutely stay there again!!! less

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay here and found the condo to be well equipped, clean, and everything in working order. Thanks for providing an ice chest for daily outings. I'm glad the unit has A/C because we needed it at times. The wifi was "adequate". The quantity of parking spaces is inadequate, so plan on parking on the street if you return after 7-8pm, but it's not a big deal. Kapaa is a good central location for exploring the rest of the island. I will stay here again. less

Wonderful Stay at Condo 225

This was our third stay in an oceanfront condo at Islander on the Beach but the first time that we didn't rent through the resort. Great condo

The condo is very nice and located on beautiful grounds and is situated with a full ocean front view. Being on the second floor, you have a terrific view and people walking on the path in front cannot look into your condo. Very nice pool area and a nice bar next to the pool. The travel agent in the lobby is very helpful in providing island information and making reservations for helicopter rides, shows, etc. Be aware that the parking lot gets filled up quickly in the evening. less

Great Location, Clean Condo, Awesome View

My wife and I spent the 2nd half of our honeymoon in Julie's condo #225. It was in great condition and clean. The view off the back balcony can't be beat. And just a few steps to a great beach. Great location with several restaurants, bars and shopping within easy walking distance. The condominium complex was well kept and I was impressed by the frequent presence of a security guard walking the grounds and patrolling the parking lot. I would highly recommend this one as an economical place to stay, no issues and a convenient location in Kauai. Aloha less

Our stay in Condo 225.

We had a wonderful stay in the condo. The beach towels and chairs came in very handy. The location and views were outstanding. It was wonderful to be lulled to sleep by the ocean every night. We needed to purchase a broom to help sweep up the sand that manages to find its way into the room. The rugs in the bathroom could use replacing. Otherwise it was a very nice place, very reasonable. We would come back again. Mahalo! less

Nice!

Unit 225 was a great little gem for my fiancé and I while we stayed in Kauai. It was conveniently located near shopping, the main highway (which is more like a road on Kauai), good food, and the beach path. The guys at the pool bar were really nice, as we're the cleaning people that we encountered. I wish the be a h was nicer (you can't swim because of the coral), but that is just how it is in Kapa'a. You are a quick walk or drive to some of the most amazi f beaches in the world! The unit itself was well-appointed and had beach chairs and a mini cooler for our use, as well as mini fridge, microwave, oven, and coffee maker. It was well-looked after. less

Condo 225 Balcony is the Best Place on Kauai

We had a whale of a time and absolutely enjoyed all our expeditions: driving up into the thick clouds over the Na Pali Coast and waiting patiently to catch a glimpse of the phantom view in the mist, spending a day in Waimea Canyon and being blown away by its breathtaking vistas, hiking the jungle-like Kalalau Trail, getting a taste of Hawaiian culture at a Luau, soaking in Queens bath, snorkelling and filming beautiful turtles, monk seals and fish... But most of all we loved our homecomings to Islander on the Beach. At night, lazing in a hammock gazing at the stars and the moon, sipping morning coffee while embracing the world freshly baked, watching the waves, walking along the beach, collecting shells and pebbles... Broiling fresh Mahi-Mahi and washing it down with fruity Mai Tai... We felt in love with the island and believed that the very best place in Kauai was our Islander balcony in condo 225. Palm trees ocean view we had is really really really hard to beat... Cook-a-doodle-dooooo and mahalo-mahalo-mahalo! less

The views and location are fabulous! Everything for two people, easy fun! The second floor is nice as people do like to walk the bluff between you and the beach and it buffers you from that. Loved the recycling being so available. Everything was very clean. My husband liked the bathroom rugs. Made him feel at home.Appreciated the wine glasses & salt & pepper. Relaxing

The condo has an amazing view, and it was wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The unit was also very conveniently located, particularly for walking- we walked to Monico's Taqueria one night, and to Hukilau Lanai the second night, and had great meals at both. The condo also had some nice chairs (with cup holders!) that we were able to take to the beach, which was very nice. There were two things that might have improved our stay. It might be helpful to have a covered trash can in the unit- we found ourselves taking the trash out quite a bit because we didn't want the garbage to attract insects. It would also be nice if there was a stock of sugar packets for coffee in the morning. less

Ocean front at great price!

I was looking for an oceanfront property in Kapaa area, but did not want to spend a fortune. After much research I found this amazing property. Beautiful views and amazing sunrises every morning from the lanai. I was able to whale watch every morning (bring your binoculars!). The room is just what I needed and exactly as pictured. I was pleased to find a blender, so I made smoothies every morning with fresh local produce. The only complaints I have with this condo is that there is not much insulation between the rooms so I could hear every word said by my neighbors. Also, if you don't get a parking spot by 4pm, you are outta luck. People from the adjacent strip mall/bar also park in the same lot. You are within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants in the area. The Coconut Marketplace (which is directly behind the condo) is very run down and vacant. There are still 2 great food stands and the Eggbert restaurant (killer macadamia nut pancakes) for breakfast. Apparently the entire center is under renovations, so when that is complete, it will add that much more to this location. I stayed her for 2 wonderful weeks and would definitely book room #225 again! Mahalo! less

My partner and I booked this place for my birthday and we were not disappointed. It was great, and definitely exceeded our expectations.

This was a great property - good view, on the oceanfront, well kept, and close to shopping and activities. From here, we went to Waimeia Canyon, on a Na Pali coast cruise and snorkel tour, to the Kauai Coffee Co., to see "South Pacific" dinner and show just south of us, and to the lighthouse on the North Shore and as far as that road went. Slept to the sound of breaking waves every night. less

Perfect for Us

This unit was exactly as described on its website. It's a basic, clean room with a fantastic view and a great price. I personally always want an ocean front view and this one was perfect. You can get more luxurious, and expensive, accommodations next door at the Beachboy, but the view is everything to me. The air conditioning worked great and I think the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. I even pulled off the sheets to see what it was. So if you are looking for a clean, inexpensive, centrally located room for two with a great view then this is the place. I would certainly come back here. less

Very nice condo, very nice complex

We stayed in unit 225 in the Kauai building for seven nights in June. This was our fourth trip to Hawaii and have always considered Islander on the Beach, but always chose to stay elsewhere. This trip we decided to give it a try and wondered why we haven't done it sooner. The complex itself is very nice. It is well maintained and manicured with a very nice pool, hot tub, and outdoor, staffed bar. The beach is also nice, and the complex leaves beach chairs out there for the guests. It is situated well in Kapaa, near restaurants, grocery, etc. The unit itself that we stayed in was perfect. It was clean, comfortable, and updated. The pictures do not lie, and depict what you actually see in the condo, or the great view from the lani. I can't say enough about the condo, complex, and overall very reasonable price to stay there. We hope to make it back to Kauai soon, and next time, we can save a lot of time and effort and just book this unit again. Thanks. less

Mediocre experience

I went in with low expectations since I was not paying much for a condo on the beach. Everything would have been okay since my expectations were low but the fact that the housekeeping was so poor and that my friends had a totally different experience in condo 250 really affected my impression of condo 225. When I first entered the condo, I was quite impressed by the proximity to the ocean. It was great to hear the ocean all night. Second thing I noticed was a very musty smell that never went away despite opening up the door and spraying it with Lysol. Next I noticed a dirty washcloth that was left in the shower. I found this totally inexcusable! The housekeeper also left a bottle of Lysol on a counter. There was also grime around the sink. Another sign of the very poor housekeeping was the coffee pot was full of old coffee and a used filter. My friends' condo, 250, was spotless. Her owner provided her with robes, a welcome basket, videos, and games. We were not provided with any of this. On a positive note, our bed was very comfortable. We were very disappointed in the pool and spa since they were the size of our backyard pool and spa. Both were always too crowded to use. If the condo had been clean, I would have been satisfied since I was not paying much. The poor housekeeping did not allow me to use the kitchen because I was disgusted by the dirtiness. This was a primary reason that I had chosen a condo over a hotel room. If I did return to The Islander, I would book condo 250. less

Owner/Manager Response

We are very sorry for the issues you encountered during your stay in unit 225. As you can see from our many other reviews our guests usually have an excellent experience and the condo is very clean. We have spoken to the housekeepers about this incident and they are duly upset. I’m sure it will not happen again. We always leave a can of Lysol in the bathroom as guests appreciate and use this amenity. The homeowner last year upgraded the beds to king size beds and purchased new Egyptian cotton sheets. She has also just purchased new bedspreads as well, so we are delighted you found the beds comfortable. This condo has a licensed on-island contact on call 24/7 and the contact information is posted in the unit and included in the emails confirming the reservation. Any guest who encounters such problems is most welcome to call and we will rectify any issues immediately.

This is the best place ever!

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about this place being "right on the beach" and of all the great reviews that it had. Well, we were late getting in because of flight delays. We arrived about 12:30 in the morning. We couldn't see a thing out our sliding door. But let me tell you when we woke up to a beautiful sunrise we felt glad that we had this condo. It is right on the beach. The management was excellent! Our a/c wasn't working and they were right on it. However after it was fixed we never used it. Just prop open the door and open the slider and the breeze furnished all the fresh air we could hope for. Since we were on the 2nd floor we felt safe enough to leave our sliding door open while sleeping to listen to the crashing waves all night. It's nice location is great for restaurants, shopping and fabulous food shacks. The grounds that the condo is on (The Islander on the Beach) were impeccable. The pool a little cold but the ocean (who needs a pool) was just right. There are lounge chairs on the beach. Lots of sandy shallow water to just stand in and put yourself into relax mode. We wouldn't hesitate to book this place again. In fact, we were a little bummed that "someone" else was sleeping in our condo after we left! We lived on Oahu a long time ago and this condo reminded us of our little apartment. There was nothing we didn't like. It's not the "high hoity toity" place that some may want but it was everything we wanted or needed for 12 great relaxing nights. less

Great reasonable condo on the beach!

We rented this condo from an owner, not the Islander corporation itself, and that made all the difference in the world. There was everything we needed in our condo, which is really no more than a big hotel room with a kitchenette and a great lanai (balcony). Dishes, silverware, spices in cupboard, cleaning products as well as paper products, even paper plates. There was even a wine opener, which we appreciated, as well as a blender for smoothies, using the fruit products from the local farm market. When we noticed the cooler was missing, a phone call and we had a new one to use. This condo is very close to the beach, so much so that my husband closed the patio door every night because the waves were so loud. The room was immaculate and the grounds beautiful and we felt blessed every day to wake up in paradise. The air conditioning unit is high on the wall and I loved the fact it didn't blow directly on us- very subtle and very efficient. One night we cooked a steak on the grill, accompanied by baked potatoes from the microwave and a salad from the vegetables found at the local farmers market which you will want to find for sure. There is only a small refrigerator with no freezer but we found it sufficient for all our food and ice is free just a short walk away. I would recommend to anyone staying here to do what we did- load a suitcase you will check through with any food items you think you'll use such as coffee, sugar, cereal, mustard, mayo, peanut butter, salad dressing, chips, cookies, any bread you can bring as well as canned goods (tuna, soup, pasta) because the food in Kauai is very expensive- be prepared for sticker shock- and we had breakfast on the lanai each morning plus prepared sandwiches to take in our cooler and water in our jug filled with ice. I would suggest suggest bringing plastic bags as well as paper cups and napkins. All in all, a great stay in a central location and I highly recommend these accommodations! Can't wait to return!!! less

Loved our stay at the condo!

One of the best places we've stayed in! The condo was right on the beach with a great view from the balcony. And very private as it's on the second floor. Everything was clean and fresh. Pleasantly surprised to find a toaster oven and microwave! Loved using the beach chairs and boogey boards. Air conditioner worked when we needed it. Couple of things that can be improved; Closet had a weird smell - something needs to be done about that. WiFi stopped working the second day into our stay. Bigger beach towels would be great. Have recommended the condo to everyone who asked about our stay. :-) less

Very nice condo

Our stay at condo 225 at Islander on the Beach was great! The room was everything we expected and even seemed a bit larger than the photos provided. The kitchenette had all the amenities we needed for the stay. We enjoyed listening to the ocean at night. I would recommend a second-story room if you chose to stay at the Islander - that way you can leave your sliding doors open at night! This room looks right out over the ocean. Just remember to shut those doors whenever you leave the room so your room does not get too humid - it can happen quickly. I made use of the room's private Wifi Network, and there was a large selection of cable channels for those nights when we had exerted ourselves out and about during the day to do anything but lay in bed and watch t.v. at night! During our stay, the property was generally quiet, and we saw more couples than families. As it was our first stay in Kauai, we discovered that the Islander if very well located to access all the island has to offer! There are also several great restaurants on the property - the restaurant in the far corner of the parking lot closest to the hotel has delicious Korean bbq chicken! The bar in the pool area had great happy hour specials, too. A couple of things, however small, could have made our stay more pleasant. There was only a roll and a half of toilet paper for our seven-night stay, and we had to purchase more. Also, the tissue boxes were nearly empty when we arrived, and as I suffer from allergies those were gone quickly, too. Lastly, the first night we noticed our sheets and blankets on the bed were damp. This went away by the next day after running the a/c, but this should have been done before we arrived. However, these were just minor annoyances and did not majorly detract from our stay. I would stay here again. The price is far less than paying hotel prices and you have far fewer fees and front desk issues. less

Mahalo for your review of our Islander on the Beach 225. We were delighted to have you as our guest and hope you can return again soon. We apologize for not turning on the a/c before your arrival and will be sure to do so in the future. It is our normal policy to turn it on before a guest’s arrival and we overlooked it in this instance. We also usually leave more amenities such as toilet paper and tissues, so this was overlooked and we will be sure to rectify this going forward. We would have been happy to bring you more so if you return please feel free to call our local contact for any needs such as these. We want all of our guests to have a wonderful experience.

A Womderful Stay

I recently spent a week in Kauai and stayed in condo#225 at Islander on the Beach. In spite of the rainy weather we had a good time. The condo was excellent...very clean and came with all the amenities of home. Dishes, silverware, blender for the fruity drinks, microwave, small refrigerator and toaster oven. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home. There were also beach mats, beach chairs and a cooler for our use. A nice surprise was the welcome bag left for us which had a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, bottles of water, a tote bag and information about the island. They also left plenty of towels for a weeks stay. I loved the ocean front location and having morning coffee on the deck. The unit is nice for two people but would be crowded with more than two people. There is no elevator so you have to carry bags and walk up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. The location is within walking distance to some shops and restaurants. The restaurant In the resort next door is excellent !! The Islander on the Beach is a very nice property. The grounds are kept meticulously and are full of beautiful flowers. My only complaint is that it can be hard to get a parking place in the lot as there are not enough of them. I would also recommend renting a compact car since the parking spaces are narrow. This is our second year at Islander and we will definitely be back again. I would recommend unit #225 without any hesitation. less

Islander On The Beach Condo 225 in January

Great location. Service staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great location to travel anywhere on the island and be there within an hour and a half max. The location of this condo on the second floor was advantageous as you had more privacy than similar locations on the first floor due to heavy usage of the sidewalk next to the beach. Parking in the lot can be difficult to find at night and your only other option is to park on aleka Place (not in the Coconut Marketplace - they will tow). Several food options are available in the Coconut Marketplace or nearby - nothing fancy but good food nonetheless. The surf is rough so you won't be swimming in the ocean but the pool is a good option if you want to jump in the water. less

Great!

What a deal. Right on the beach at $89 per night. Can't beat it. Nice condo with view of the ocean. Well managed company, beautiful grounds, well maintained. We enjoyed our stay here. Will be back again.

Wonderful stay at Condo 225

The location and view of this condo is just amazing. You can listen to the surf of the ocean just sitting in the room or even better sitting on the lanai. The room was very clean and had all the necessities for the kitchenette. The very nice touch was a welcome package from aloha condos with some useful goodies. I would love to go back. less

Loved the oceanfront!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this condo 225. We loved having the ocean front room! It is so relaxing to sit on the lanai and watch the ocean. The beach in front of this building is great also!

Condo 225 Islander Beach Resort

The condo is very well located, but was not very clean. I saw 2 cockroaches during our stay. The bed cover and blanket would need to be replaced. The curtains were not clean and the rail system was broken. The chairs and the couch were stained. It's a shame because the resort was really good. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for your candid review. The homeowners have since replaced the rail system that had suffered from the constant salt and wind, and we have cleaned the drapes as well. The sofa and chairs will be steam cleaned November 8th. As for the comforter and blanket: both are brand new, so I’m not sure why the suggestion was made they be replaced. I apologize for the roaches. They are one of the downsides of paradise. We keep bait traps in the units for them, but it is impossible to avoid them completely in the tropics. I hope you will return to our wonderful island and to Islander on the Beach again.

Best Ever

We can't stop thinking about our recent visit to Kauai and stay at the Islander Condo 225. It was perfect for our family. The place was absolutely what we needed. Every day we could chill at the end of our outings (snorkeling, boat/raft trip along Na'Pali coast, hiking, boogie boarding, etc.)and love where we were staying. Nice landscaping, great "open-air" lobby where we went to get our emails, etc. wood floors, ceiling fan, relaxing and pretty decor, great pool and hot tub, tiki torches at night, drinks by the pool, and best of all, our view--straight out to the ocean. Mornings breakfast on the balcony, sometimes dinner/take-out at night, too. The moon right there over the water, or a rainbow after a rain. There are loungers down by the water's edge, too. The kitchen is great, plates silverware, bowls, blender, s & p, coffee filters and machine, microwave, frig. We had breakfast at home and two dinners at home (Bbq's are by pool). The only suggestion would be to have one more place for towels to dry out during the day. There were four of us, and two towels/day, without any kind of maid/laundry because it's not a "hotel" in our unit. With us using towels at the pool and our own at the beach, one more hanging bar in the BR would be good. The beds are good (and I'm very picky), pillows perfect. I want to return here and stay at the same condo. Love it. This was the best vacation I've had in ages. Love Kauai, too. Not a single big city, the whole island is gorgeous. less

Great Vacation Destination

We were very pleased with our stay and the location. A beautiful place and great destination.

Loved to hear the waves at night

We stayed here for four nights in March 2011. The location of the condo is perfect. It is just steps from the ocean and we left the patio doors open at night to listen to the waves. We had some excitement with a tsunami warning after the Japanese earthquake, but first Kristen let us know, and then someone from the management knocked on the door to let us know we should evacuate and explained where to go. The condo is about the size of a hotel room, but with the small kitchen and the balcony, there was more than enough room. There is a great restaurant within a very short walking distance, and the little town of Kapa'a is a short drive, is a charming small town, and has everything you need. Being on the eastern shore was the perfect location for us, as it was easy to drive to all other parts of the island, and was a quick drive to the airport the morning we left. All in all, I highly recommend this condo. less

Great value for money

I would definitely come back to this place as it represents great value for money. Where else can you stay ocean front for $105 per night?

— Stuart and Dianne, Stayed 03/07/2011

Was overpriced for the unit.

Nice location and size. The unit was very musty smelling and was very wet feeling in there. Was so humid we had to sleep on towels the sheets felt wet. The TV was very hard to see. We only wanted to watch the news. I would recommend to a friend only if the price was lowered. less

Owner/Manager Response

We are sorry you were not comfortable and wish we had known at the time. This condo is absolute ocean front with wonderful tropical sea breezes when we have trade winds, however things in Hawaii get very humid when we have Kona conditions, which we have had the past few weeks, and that brings on dampness and mustiness very quickly. You really can’t get closer to the ocean than this unit, so it is impossible to keep it absolutely dry. That said, a brand new air conditioning system was installed a month ago which has a dehumidifier cycle as one of the key functions. We would have been happy to assist with the dampness issue had we known you were uncomfortable. The air conditioner manual is also in the condo. I was in this unit yesterday and did not notice any mustiness, so I think recent use of the air conditioner and the return of the trade winds dried the unit out. I will examine the TV to see if the salt air has shortened its life span. Julie Buckmaster, Owner, Islander On The Beach, Condo 225

Comfortable & Relaxing Ocean Front Vacation

The condo was very clean and nicely furnished, the bed comfortable and the kitchenette was sufficient for the amount of eating in we did. The ocean front location was outstanding and convenient for nearby shops. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning and with a 2nd floor unit, felt secure leaving the door open at night for the fresh ocean air and sounds. The Bbqs and tables near the pool allowed us the opportunity to invite guests over with plenty of space. Having previously lived on Kauai for more than 10 years and running a service business, we have been in numerous rental properties and were pleased with Islander #225. We most definitely recommend this unit for location, comfort and price. less

Great room for the money

Nothing extravagant, but clean and nice enough. Definately works for our needs, (a place to crash at night after long days.) Close to good food and several shops. Nice location centered between the north shore and south shore. Overall, a nice room.

Wonderful

We went to get married on Kauai. The condo was an added bonus. Comfortable, clean, neat and tidy. Just what we were looking for and the view was amazing.

— kpankiw, Stayed 11/25/2010

What a room with an unbelievable view!

Great room in a great location. Bed was very comfortable. Safeway right down the street, coconut marketplace with a couple fantastic food places right next door. Only drawback is if you return later in the evening parking can be difficult to find. This room is great for two but four it would be kinda close living. less

Sleeping to the sound of the ocean with good value and comfort.

This condo was quite comfortable for the two of use. Best was being right next to the ocean and listening to the ocean when we slept. Location was very central and convenient without feeling crowded.

Great location and price value

We really enjoyed our stay in the Ocean View room. Room was clean and well maintained. Can't beat the location. Traveled with two teenage daughters and they had a great time too, especially the beach in front of room.
