Fantastic location

We had a wonderful vacation and the condo at the Surf and Racquet Club was an ideal location for us to tour the rest of the island. Also, it is close to shopping, restaurants, and beautiful ocean views are only a minute away. The condo... more itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen and wifi worked well. Plenty of shower and beach towels. A closet full of beach chairs, boogie boards and an ice chest was much appreciated. Most importantly I appreciated a very attentive owner and management company that came to my rescue when I accidentally locked us out one evening. They were very understanding and came to assist quickly. We would definitely book here again! less

Nice Condo

Nice condo, close to markets and shops. Good facilities, with pool, bbq, tennis courts. It would have been nice if bath soap, shampoo, coffee were provided for our first night so that we didn't have to leave after a long day.

Great place to stay!

This is a perfect place to stay. It is away from the busy main street of Kona, but close enough to enjoy the restaurants there.There is a grocery store and restaurants a minute away. The pool is wonderful. The unit has a nice relaxing view.... more It is a short walk to an overlook of the rocky coast. A great snorkel beach is nearby. The unit is nice and clean. It comes equipped with lots of kitchen and beach supplies (chairs, snorkel gear, sand toys for kids...). You are welcomed with a gift basket. We highly recommend this unit! less

Nice Location, Poor Furnishings

We have been renting various condos within the Kona Surf and Racquet complex for some time but this was by far the least value for the money given the poor furnishings.

Great place

Excellent Condo. Came equipped with appliances and dishes aswell as towels for the pool. Clean. The pool was nice for little kids and adults. The tennis courts were great. A short walk brings you to the ocean where suns sets are amazing.

Clean, pretty, but loud

My stay was very nice. The unit is very well decorated and very cheerful. Nice view of the golf course. However, being that it is a ground floor unit it was very loud. You could every footstep from the unit above, so if you are... more a light sleeper this may be a problem. Also there was a sign on the washing machine that simply said, "dear guests, washing machine does it work. Mahalo". To me that was sort of a big deal as people often like to or need to wash their clothes while on vacation (in my case for work, so it was necessary that I had clean clothes). It was sort of expected, by me anyway, that a washing machine would be in working order. Otherwise, again, the unit itself was nice, the complex was nice. The parking spot was convenient. No stairs was nice as well, but the ground floor has it drawbacks with the noise, which was my biggest issue...especially when trying to sleep. less

Clean, basic & quiet

This condo is clean, basic and at a quiet location. Nice complex which I have stayed at when on TBI for many years. I stay at one of the ocean front condos on second level (no need to ever close sliders/windows), but it wasn't available... more this past trip. Since I didn't cook while here, I didn't take note of the utensils or lack of. Coffee maker worked fine, though. Plenty of towels, nice shower and decent bed. Internet worked fine and tv access. Lovely view of garden and short walk to water front. The only disadvantage to this condo, other than not water front, is that it's on the ground level. Ground level means having to lock all the sliders/windows when going out and at night (if your security conscious) which makes for a very warm condo. Plenty of fans to help, but think about that when booking. Other than that, very reasonably priced and comfortable. Loved the welcome basket! less

Great location

Comfortable environment great access to all amenities. Too many roaches and centipedes inside the unit even in the bed freaked me out. Place really needs to be gutted and renovated big time. Can't imagine how many bugs are inside the wall cavity as I saw... more them coming out from under the skirting board, apart from the critters I loved Kona. I only Used the pool three times as my key would not work so had to rely on others being there to open the gate, is it necessary to have a key? The whole complex looks great but will look elsewhere next time. less

Tranquil

We really enjoyed waking up with the little birds chirping and listening to the tree frogs at night. The condo was large, clean, and quite comfortable. We appreciated the use of beach towels, the convenience of a well equipped kitchen, and in unit washer and... more dryer. The pool was great. We also enjoyed being a few minutes walk from a great snorkeling beach. We didn't have to worry about parking at the beach. The beds were comfortable and the windows and fans were sufficient for cooling in early May. We never did figure out where the futon in the living room was, but the couch was big and easy to substitute for a bed. We would definitely stay there again. less

Nice Unit

This is a nice unit with a view of the golf course. Being on the first floor made it easy. A few things I don't really like about the complex in general, the stairs are situated such that anybody going up to units above has... more an eyeshot directly into the kitchen window before they get on the stairs, but this is not specific to this unit. Feels like an invasion of privacy, but keep the draperies closed and it is not so bad. Everything worked okay, but the dishwasher is very old and the dishes have to be fairly clean before you put them in. Only big minus, I had to cut my stay short by 10 days and was not able to get any money refunded, although I may have already been inside the cancellation period when I notified them. Nice unit, reasonably priced for the summer months. Probably more comfortable in the winter with no a/c but there are ceiling fans and a floor fan. I would stay there again. less

Perfect place for family with young kids.

Back lanai opens to beautiful lawn - fun for children to run around on and still be supervised easily from inside. We loved the welcome basket and enjoyed the fruit and treats throughout our stay. Fabulous stay in spotless condo in great location

Our stay in is condo was fantastic. Great check in instructions and welcome amenities. Everything in great condition and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds and great fans for the Kona heat. Location in the ground floor very handy for all the luggage we were hauling... more and the access to the lawn behind made it feel even more spacious. The location of the resort was great for Ironman World Championships access and watching, as it is on the side where the Queen K highway was open both ways and Alii drive was always open in the Kona direction, even on the day of the race. Very easy access to small mall with supermarket, pharmacy, etc. made meals very easy. Overall, would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Kona! less

Best Condo on the Big Island!

This condo is in a great location near snorkel beach and the downtown area. However, it's not so close that it's overly congested. Reasonable accomodations

we would have appreciated air conditioning...it was fairly muggy at night...kitchen worked out well...boogey boards and beach gear was great...we would have preferred more privacy for the master bedroom...the sliding door thing was just too flimsy for us...also, the kids complained about water pressure in... more their shower...they kept using ours...place could use some more lights...seemed dark at night. less

This is a beautiful condo, exceeded my expectations. Spacious and extremely comfortable. Beautiful Place

Not happy

Although the resort as a whole is very nice this unit is in need of better cleaning and some updating. There was an issue with bugs and there were obvious food particles left on the floor when we arrived. Cabinets were sticky to touch and... more had visible dirt. Food was left in the refrigerator and the shelves were dirty. I was OK with the unit needing updating because the price was lower than other units but the poor cleaning was not OK. less

Good value for the cost

Home away from Home!

Excellent, Fun, Great Location, and Relaxing!!!

The condo was great. It was clean and super easy to find.It was just south of the main strip which was great for us. It was close to the main highway just south so you could head towards the airport or head to the volcano.... more The size was excellent and the patio was pretty big out back with two outdoor table sets. It was an easy walk across the parking lot to the rocks to watch the sunsets every night which were beautiful. There was a little path to walk down and a picnic table. The kitchen was great to have and they had most everything you would need for cups, pans, ect. There was plenty of towels/beach towels, and other items. There was some beach stuff like chairs, umbrella, water toys, coolers, ect. Everything that we used worked including the internet and the new flat screen TV in the living room. There was plenty of seating and dining chairs/bar chairs. There was no a/C which I was worried at first. However with the fans and screens open it was just right. At night wasn't bad either and it cooled off perfect. The beach just north of the condo which is like a 5 minute walk or short drive was an awesome snorkeling spot. Not really a "beach" but there was some sand to sit if you get there early in the morning. We snorkled a few different places and that place by far had the most fish I've ever seen. It was nice having it so close!!! The white sand beach in Kona was really small and packed... Definatley would recommend the drive to Hapuna Beach or Spencer Beach to the north. The beaches were a lot bigger and less crowded. They all had bathrooms, ect. We would definatley stay there again. The other residents and vacationers were super nice. Comfortable condo, but needs some attention

This condo was clean, well equipped, and conveniently located, but could use some attention to get four stars. Being on the first floor was convenient and allows one to step off the lanai onto the grass lawn for a stroll. The kitchen was very well... more equipped; the living room had comfortable chairs (one a recliner),sofas, reading lamps, etc. The TV, while dated, provided a good picture and most channels that you might want. The outside storage closet provided lots of beach/snorkling equipment that we used at a nearby beach. The lanai chairs and tables seemed new and were very comfortable. The fans in each room/area all used varible speed remotes controllers. The less favorable items included a lack of in-unit Wifi. We started by piggybacking onto a nearby unsecured signal, but it was weak and unreliable. The property manager suggested we connect with the internet via an ethernet cable attached to the modem. This worked but, of course, we were tethered to a six foot cable. The unit had a corded landline telephone and two remote units, but the remotes didn't work and the property manager did not get them working during our time in the unit (Feb 1-22, 2012). During our stay the ceiling light in the dining area and the master BR burned out. These were special bulbs and the property manager was not able to replace them while we were there. The bath rooms had a single sink and very weak shower pressure/volume. The bath rooms could use updating and a new coat of paint. less

Excellent Value for an Outstanding Condo and Service!

We were really impressed with such an outstanding condo that is very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed to feel like home away from home. What we paid for a beautiful 2 bedrooms/2 baths condo with such a generous space was remarkable! First of... more all, the booking process through alohacondos.com was very smooth. We had made a special request for an early check-in since we were arriving early that day from another island, and was promptly contacted by a 'local contact' named alan, who helped the owners managed their property, etc. He told us that he would get the place ready (3 hours before the actual check-in time) and that it would 'be no problem at all.' When we got there, everything went as we expected. The condo was move-in ready and in great condition. We saw a fruit/cookie basket that greeted us at the dining table as we walked in. The only problem that we noticed upon arrival was that a part of the faucet at kitchen sink has broken off. We do use the kitchen a lot, and kitchen without a faucet is a great inconvenience for us. After leaving a message for alan (local contact) as well as the owners, we got a response back from alan the same day. He was very apologetic and quickly offered to come and fix the faucet the next morning. Next day came, Alan was very prompt and showed up exactly the same time we told him to come. He tried his best to fix the problem and ended up replacing the whole faucet, which was not an easy job. In a few hours, it was in a working condition again. The owner, Lisa, also texted us the next day, and followed up with alan as well. In addition, Alan was also able to give us tips on good beaches to go to and snorkeling sites. Thus, the overall service we received, was very impressive! less
