Absolutely lovely!

My checklist generally consists of the following: clean, comfortable, great view, aesthetically pleasing furnishings, well appointed kitchen, quiet atmosphere. This place hit all the marks! Although we had planned ahead of time that we would support the local businesses rather then cook for ourselves, this... more kitchen tempted us. They really did a lovely job on this unit. The beds were comfortable (although I might suggest updating/upgrading the linens and pillows in the master, though not a big deal overall). It was amazing to fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake to a beautiful ocean view. We spent our days exploring the beautiful island and our evenings relaxing on the lanai enjoying the sunset. Building 5 is on the end and somewhat isolated from the others which made for a quiet stay. We truly appreciated our stay here and all of the thoughtful touches that the owners have implemented. Beautiful Condo and View

Beautiful condo. Stunning view - could sit there all day soaking it in. Furniture is super inviting and comfortable. Amenities and supplies in the condo exceeded expectations. Would definitely stay again. Downside - pillows are flat as pancakes, they need replacing and needs pillow cases... more (we couldn't find any for extra pillows). We had to use the Raid for the first 3 days chasing ants away from everywhere. We've stayed on Kona prior and know bugs are an issue. just keeps getting better

We have been coming to Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club for over thirty years. The grounds seemed to be in the best condition ever. And the same is certainly true of the individual units-at least it is true of Unit 5-203. We have stayed on... more all three floors and in both two and three bedrooms units. The owners all have great pride of ownership and we never been disappointed in the cleanliness or thoughtfulness of the owners in preparing for their guests. Having said that, 5-203 was the best unit we have stayed in. The owners have obviously spent a great deal of money on updating everything from the windows and sliding patio door to the reconfiguration of the main room, replacing the boxy kitchen and eating area with a long and useful bar. EVERYTHING you could want to enjoy your unit was there. One very small suggestion--leave directions on how to use the television. All systems are a little different and we did have to call the manager. Like the unit, he was exceptional. Great, great trip. Thank you. less

The main reasons we booked this place were: the updated kitchen, the giant lanai, and the, wow(!), the stunning view. All were more than we hoped for. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, spacious and clean. And it was set up in a very cook-friendly... more way, so we didn’t spend a lot of time searching for things. We’re used to cooking on gas and it took us a minute to get used to the cooktop, but it was a very nice stove. The daytime views were delightfully ever-changing with the weather…and the lights of Kona at night were an added bonus. Because I appreciate a well-rounded review, I’ll just mention the two things that I think certain people might like to know ahead in order to pick the place that’s most suited to them (but they are not complaints, we have none of those). -First, the guests above us were very noticeable to us. They started early and went late…sort of thudding back and forth and opening and closing doors/cabinets. Thankfully they were quiet between midnight and 7am-ish (would have preferred they start later in the a.m., but at least there was that). I’m guessing they weren’t actually being as loud as they sounded. -Second, as per the listing, there’s no a/c and we got pretty warm at times. “Opening and shutting” the house at the right times of day and using the ceiling fans helped a lot. And there was an awesome floor fan for a little extra cooling when needed in the bedroom. Yes, a couple of times we were a bit uncomfortable but it passed and, honestly, not being in an air-conditioned place felt more authentically Hawaiian. And now, more of our highlights: -Semi-private little beach if you walk across the property (5 minutes or so, north past the pool); very few people frequented it when we were there and watching the sunset from it was magical. -A popular, white-sand(ish) beach very close. It’s also walking distance but on a busy road. However, unless you go early, parking at the beach is limited, so walking is an option. Across the street is a little place that rents boards/offers lessons, and the bay (as I recall) is known to be one of the better spots for those just learning. -The Keauhou Shopping Center (walking distance), includes a good-sized market. -The fresh-fish truck that would sometimes show up just down the hill from the shopping center. -Sam Choy’s just above the shopping center. Has something like a 280-degree view of the ocean! Awesome place for happy hour. Thanks Scott for the spot-on recommendation! -Rays on the Bay at the Sheraton. About 1.5 miles away. The manta rays come play in the lights they shine out on the bay. On Wednesdays (and some Saturdays) there is a local artisans’ market. -I’m a fiber artist and really appreciated the high-quality linens, including decorative pieces like the table runner and the framed indigo shibori behind the sofa. Even the sofa blanket was a little work of art. Somehow the fact that Martha and Scott chose to decorate with such unique pieces speaks volumes about their aloha spirit :) All-in all, pretty much anything we could have wanted was there for us. We found it to be everything the photos promised and much much more. less

Great view.

Beautiful ocean view and nice large balcony. Saw dolphins, lots of boat traffic and beautiful rainbows, sunsets and moon sets. Unfortunately The fans and ceiling fans were filthy dirty and there was a used bar of soap in the master shower waiting for us, gross!... more There were labels all over, even on the kitchen cabinets of warnings to not do certain things or you’ll be charged extra. There were no amenity items that we’ve become acustom to when staying at Aloha rental properties, no body wash and just enough laundry soap for three loads of laundry no extra sheets and no flashlights. The pepper shaker was empty. Also smelled cigarette smoke from another unit during our stay. less

Wonderful Vacation

Wonderful place

If you like a pretty private & safe place to stay right on the ocean & walking distance to a fantastic snorkeling location, I highly recommend this place. I loved being on the second floor to snooze on the lanai without the worry of anyone... more walking up to me, not that anyone walks around anyway for this condo is located in the last bank of buildings so only the few residents in these condo's ever walk by. August 2016 Stay

My wife and I recently completed a four night at the condo in early August 2016. This is our second time at the Racquet Club, so we were familiar with the area, property, etc. The condo is in building 5, a two bedroom unit on... more the second floor at the north end of the complex. It's about a 20 minute drive south from the Kona airport, depending on traffic. Very quiet, very relaxing with a great view of the shore and sea. The condo was extremely clean, very important to us. Shower water pressure is great, the towels are fluffy and thick.A welcome basket with local fruits and jams awaited us. The condo has all of the amenities one would ask for, especially in the kitchen. The lanai is spacious, chairs are comfortable, and has mechanized sunscreen which can be lowered for the late afternoon sun. The main bedroom is literally less than 50 feet from the ocean. The wave sounds lull you to sleep and greet you every morning. The entire condo conplex was quite during our stay. We did not use any of the other condo facilities and the pool was undergoing rehab while we were there. Elizabethm the owner, advised us of the pool situation and graviously waived the conco cleaning fees. If you are a beach person, which we are not, there are beaches just south of the property. I would book this property again in a heartbeat and will do so on the next trip to the big island less

This condo was really comfortable, well equipped and had a beautiful view. Being on the second floor, ocean front, there was usually a nice breeze to help cool the place down. We spent nearly every evening on the Lanai enjoying the sunset. The lanai blinds... more helped cut down the glare just before sunset. The wooden screens for the lanai doors allowed in a breeze while also helping cut down the glare during the late afternoon. They did allow in enough light that the bedrooms didn't stay dark past seven or eight in the morning, but that was fine since we're early risers and were able to get to the beach earlier. Wonderful condo !!!

This condo was extremely clean and well furnished. The lanai was great. We could watch the sunsets every night. During the day we saw dolphins swimming by. The whales normally return around December 1, but our first sighting was December 5. There were a couple... more of them and they put on a 15 minute show breaching out of the water and slapping their fins. I would recommend this location to anyone who doesn't care if they are right on the beach as there is volcanic rock all along this part of the oceanfront. There is a beach nearby and a very nice pool. The condo had everything we could need. The kitchen was well equipped. It is a very quiet location. Very Nice!

We rented this unit for our son and his family 2 adults and two boys, they loved it. The master bedroom is right on the ocean side and is very nice for sleeping. It was unusually hot this time of year and there of course... more is no AC, it would be nice to have a few plug in fans to help circulate the air. Lovely Getaway in Keauhou

The Best condo stayed in Internationally!

Every one of our 21 days at Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club, Condo 5-203, either my husband, 19 year old or 21 year old son, or myself, would comment on how perfect the condo and the property was and how we did not see... more anything that came close to this in Kona. We have stayed all over the world, and have not found a place that provided not only for our needs, comfort and beyond. We stumbled on the Surf and Racquet Club a year prior after the immediate disappointment with our 4 star hotel and stayed up all night trying to find another accommodation. The following year, I spent days online trying to find a condo within this property for the three weeks we would be at Kona for my niece's wedding. Condo 5-203 was much improved over what seemed almost perfection of the condo last year. We loved having the second bedroom facing the golf course rather than the parking lot, and loved the same ocean front view from the master bedroom and living room. We preferred Building 5 as it is the farthest from the entrance and most private. The unit has updated furniture and decor and very comfortable. We spent hours out on the large lanai and enjoyed the shade and ocean breeze. It is rare to find a house or condo with air conditioning, but having a ceiling fan in very room, including the bathrooms, made it tolerable, especially the nights with the ocean and golf course breezes. We prepared many a meals for family and friends and were delighted to have such a well equipped kitchen. The owner and property manager were easy to reach when questions arose. When we were threatened with two hurricanes, the management gave us detailed instructions on how to carry on. The property grounds are exquisitely designed with stunning tropical plants, and constant upkeep. The location could not be better, close to a basic shopping centre, though I did most of my main shopping at Costco which was about a 20 minute drive. Every day I would exclaim at the incredibly beautiful scenic drive off the highway to the condo. My sons and husband are serious cyclists and enjoyed the routes from the condo, albeit the difficulty with the hills. I prefer walking/running and never tired of the ocean view route. We barbecued most evenings. We felt especially safe with it being a gated community. We will return and stay hopefully at this exact condo next time we are in Kona visiting our family, and will likely book a second condo for my parents. less

magical serenity

We loved the location of our condo unit which was away from the busier area of alii Drive and one minute from the Best snorkeling beach on this part of the island. My husband and I and our 12 year son stayed here in June 2013. We loved the condo! It was large, well kept and had the best view. We had a few meals on the lanai, and think it was better than any fancy restaurant.... more We loved that there were beach chairs and boogie boards for our use, and used them a lot. The bed was so comfortable! And hearing the waves at night was wonderful. There are geckos all over the grounds outside, and our son enjoyed trying to find them all. We used the pool a few times and walked down to the small beach. We explored the tide pools and even saw some turtles very close to shore! Thank you for the use of this wonderful condo, we would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone! less

Can't seem to stay long enough

This was our second time to stay at Kksrc within 2 years and although we loved our ground floor unit last time, we loved our 2nd floor unit even more! This unit is so close to the water it makes you feel like you are... more on a boat when you are sitting in the living room or on the lanai. We spent hours just staring at the ocean and the binoculars were a plus for spotting mantarays and dolphins! There was even a whale sighting on one of the nights we were out! The unit was very clean and had all the right amenities and was very organized. Check-in was simple like last time and we needed no assistance. We love the tennis courts and the morning walks along the golf course. Our favorite snorkeling spot just minutes away. Sadly, we didn't see the boogie boards in the 2nd bedroom closet until we were checking out, but would have used them at Magic Sands had we known. The bed was comfortable, the sheets are soft. The couches are super comfortable and large (unlike some of those smaller wicker types). The master bedroom has this tiny little TV, but we didn't really spend much time watching TV anyway. The living room tv is large and modern, and we watched a few Redbox dvds which we rented at CVS up the street. It would have been nice to have a few Hawaiian toiletries in the bathrooms, kind of like a hotel. One or two packets of soap for the laundry would have also been a bonus. Overall, extremely satisfied and will definitely recommend this in the future. less

Beautiful

Condo 5-203 is well maintained and beautiful. Additionally, many items we thought we might have to buy, such as beach towels, insulated pack for cold beverages and beach chairs, were all provided. There were extra bath towels too. We would return if visiting Hawaii again.... more We were there on a girls trip - mom, daughter, sister (aunt). The condo fit all of our needs. The only thing lacking was a couple of tennis racquets. The manager offered to find us some- if only we had time to play, with everything else there was to do and see. less

Spacious and comfortable

This is our favorite place to stay yet! We had plenty of room for the four of us--with two bathrooms and the spacious layout it was a perfect home away from home. Beautiful Condo on the Ocean

Great spacious condo with perfect views of the ocean. Very clean, beautiful decor and can see the ocean from the kitchen, dining, living and bedrooms. Even saw dolphins out front of our unit. Relaxing stay at the KKS&R; condo #5-203

Condo is in a great location. Very spacious, with a large lanai over looking the ocean. The kitchen comes well equiped, and on property there are also several gas BBQ grills to use as well. Wonderful Condo on the Kona Coast

Beautiful condo in paradise

Aloha, we really enjoyed our week in this condo. The owner provided excellent service. It was easy to make a reservation, and clear instructions and directions were emailed to us. And, there was a lovely gift basket on the counter for us when we arrived.... more We thought that the condo was much nicer than it showed in the photos. This is a beautiful, spacious condo in a great location right on the ocean. The Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club is a quiet and well-maintained complex. Ocean Front Really Means Ocean Front

We rented this condo after visiting a friend who rented in the same building. Previously we had stayed at the Kanaloa in ocean front units. We were not disappointed. Much of the unit has been renovated and the furniture and decorating was very tasteful. We... more loved the fact that the owner had provided all the necessary beach accessories. The kitchen was much better equipped than other resort condos we've rented. While we were there the surf was so high they boarded up the lanaiis on the first floor for 2 days. You definitely want to be on the second or third floor for the view and to avoid being in a "box." less

Elegantly appointed, clean, A-1 location

Simply wonderful!

This is the perfect condo! Having been members of RCI for years, this is by far the best condo we have rented. The pictures don't even do it justice! The rooms are large, bright, and comfortable. The lanai is. wonderful (and larger than it looks... more in the photos) and the kitchen includes every kind of utensil, small appliance, and serving and dishware you could want. There were 4 of us and the condo is set up perfectly for that number. The second bedroom looks over a beautiful golf course (not a parking lot like other buildings in the resort) and the master and living room/dining room and kitchen overlook the ocean. The master bedroom and living room are separated by sliding screens so that during the day, there is an ocean view the full width of the condo. Perfect all around. And Elizabeth is wonderful to work with. We will be back! less

We just had the Perfect Vacation!

Unit 5-203 was fantastic. The view from the lanai is fabulous; the ocean seeming to be a few feet away. It really is only 100 feet or so away. The soft sounds of the waves are very restful. This... more was our 4th vacation to Hawaii, however, the first time on the "Big Island.” We have really fallen for the Kona area and further, couldn't ask for a better resort than The Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club. Our Condo was complete with everything necessary to make a vacation stay great. And the owner, Elizabeth , was so very accommodating and informative before our arrival.
