Unit 201 Building 5

Beautiful unit however too dark in the kitchen and the living room could use perhaps a floor lamp that gives adequate lumination for reading. There is torn rubber on the window screen in the back bedroom. The seal around the faucet in back bathroom leaks water into cabin below. And oh my, the twin beds in back bedroom are too narrow for adults and one of the mattresses is covered with a crinkly sounding cover that makes a noise each time you roll over. There is no room for clothes or luggage in the back bedroom closet due to cleaning equipment taking up the space. Bits and pieces of mix but not match furniture in the back bedroom appear to come out of a furniture storage unit which is not an appealing presentation. The back bedroom fan could use a chain in order to change the speed. In the master bedroom the duvet is too heavy and hot. We had to fold it then store it behind a chair in the living room because of it's size. The sheets on master bedroom bed, what can I say, some were too big and there was one fitted sheet only which does not fit appropriately or adequately over the mattress. less

wonderful condo

Our family spent about 10 days in this condo in early January, and it was a delight. The Keauhou Racquet Club is our favorite location on Hawaii Island, and this unit is nicely prepared and situated. The surf was right below the lanai, and it has beautiful views of Kona and sunsets. It is reasonably well provisioned, and we especially appreciated the beach chairs and equipment. Thanks for a great stay! less

Fantastic Place To Chill Out

My wife and I stayed here the second week of September and we had a great time. A quite location with an incredible view, we couldn't help but spend a lot of time sitting on the lanai enjoying the view of the bay and listening to the sound of the waves crash against the rocks. The condo is located close to shopping and restaurants (we highly recommend Peaberry and Galette's for breakfast) and just far enough away from the crowds in Kailua to keep our stay relaxing. Kailua and all that it offers is only a short drive away. The condo was nicely furnished and very comfortable with everything we needed for a wonderful stay and the in condo washer and dryer were super handy. If we ever go back to Kona, this would be the first place we would look at. less

This place was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed this condo. The location was spectacular - rights on the beach with wonderful nightly sunset views. The from lanai was awesome; our kids slept outside each night. Nice updates throughout. Well stocked with supplies. Thank you for a wonderful Hawaii experience.

Beautiful Condo!

My husband and I think this condo is expertly decorated, it has all the necessities and several luxuries, and it has a breeze that blows threw refreshingly every day. We kept the windows open at night to enjoy the breeze. It is right on the water, (not a sun-bathing beach), and we relaxed on the balcony with breakfast most days and watched the sunset with a glass of wine most evenings. The weather didn't cooperate but we enjoyed the condo none-the-less. It is well located near the major highway and some shops. We would stay there again. less

— Elisabeth, Stayed 06/02/2022

Excellent Location

This is a great condo located in the secluded end of the resort! Fantastic oceanfront view with the beauty & sound of the surf hitting the lava and gorgeous sunsets almost every evening! We also saw humpbacks (seasonal) while sitting on the spacious lanai. Condo is nicely furnished and the kitchen well stocked with the cookware & utensils needed for preparing meals. Master bedroom is adjacent to the kitchen/living room so the sliding shoji doors could pose a privacy issue for some. The lack of A/C was not a problem for us (early March) as we were able to leave both bedroom doors open to allow the nighttime breeze to blow through and cool off the condo. Nice pool area with free water aerobics classes taught by one of the resort’s residents. Within reasonable walking distance to a snorkel beach, grocery store, and Keauhou Bay. Close to the Kona Country Club golf course. We will likely stay here again. less

Mixed experience

Location and setting are wonderful. A few criticisms about the unit: Pillows and bedding smelled musty; lighting was poor; couldn't figure out how to make fans work. Needed instructions for the high-tech appliances.

— Trudy, Stayed 12/01/2021

Owner/Manager Response

I am pleased you enjoyed the superior location of this condo, as it is the best in the Surf and Racquet complex with its privacy and extensive coastal views. I am sorry for any issues you had….the local contact, Brandon, was readily available to resolve any of the difficulties you encountered, as that is his job….he lives just minutes away from the condo. His phone number was given to you in the detailed instructions you received on check-in. Mahalo for your feedback.

Condo 5-201

We think this unit is one of the best places to stay in this condo complex. Everything was just fine, hope to return again!

— Attila, Stayed 06/11/2021

Beautiful decor and view!

Tastefully decorated with an amazing oceanfront view. Everything one needs from beach towels to beach goodies to fully stocked kitchen utensils. The beds were very comfortable. We have stayed in several different condos at Surf and Racquet and this is one of the nicest updated units. The only reason for 4 stars is that the living room furniture was completely broken down. The sofa we could not even sit on because it was like sitting on the actual frame. That did spoil our evening movie time. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thanks for the nice comments…..the view is amazing! FYI, new furniture is being ordered :)

Relaxing vacation with beautiful views

This condo was one of the best we ever stayed (family of 4 with teenagers). Location is great with marvelous unblocked view of the ocean that can be seen from the huge balcony/patio and master bedroom. The surf was high and waves were laud and powerful, but you get used to it quickly. The second bedroom is overlooking golf course and it's very quiet. The main room is large and well appointment. The kitchen is fully equipped and well organized. There are two bathrooms with plenty of towels, soap, shampoos and conditioners. The condo was clean and WiFi was fast. Also, patio had a big storage box full of beach equipment for snorkeling, sunset viewing on comfortable chairs or wave surfing. The only problem is that nearby beach is tiny, but you can go to a public beach which is 2 minutes drive or swim in the pool. less

One month in 5-201

This is a roomy, nicely decorated condo in a quiet bldg right on the ocean. It has a wrap around deck and nice lounge furniture with a gorgeous view whatever the time of day, sunsets are beautiful. Appliances worked well except the toaster could be updated. The kitchen was well-equipped except for a cookie sheet which we donated to the cause. The 'hot" tap in the second bathroom did not work on arrival and when reported we were told they were just waiting for the part - however it was not installed prior to our leaving one month later. The screen by the entry door kept falling off, especially during Tradewinds blowing, new fasteners need to be installed. The Property Manager was quick to help us with two of the TV's. This condo is comfortable and a place from which you can enjoy life in Hawaii. We would stay in this condo again. less

— Beverly M., Stayed 03/31/2020

Fabulous location, Clean & nicely updated

The unit is truly oceanfront with a wonderful spacious lanai! We have stayed at multiple units in this complex and this was one of our favorites. The unit was clean, nicely updated and matched the description and photos. Very well stocked with cooking utensils, dining needs and beach necessities. less

— K'Lynne, Stayed 03/30/2020

Perfect appartement with sea view

The appartement was really nice. The sea view was perfect to watch the sunsets in the evening. The appaartement was clean and the kitchen had enough space for all of uns and so everyone could prepare his meals. The location of the appartement was also pretty nice with the pool and tennis courts nearby. There is also a good super market just 5 minutes walk time. We were happy with this appartement and can recommed it do every family who will stay in Kailua-Kona and wand to explore big island. less

All it could be and more!!!!!

The best of Kona can be found here at Keahou Surf and Racket Club. Beautifully maintained grounds and friendly staff. Our unit is our go to with hawaiian ambiance throughout and an owner who is great to answer all questions and is available when needed. Great shopping and farmers markets within a mile along with a weekly free hula show. less

Great Vacation home!

What an awesome condo, great view, felt like if I had a fishing rod I could cast my line from the balcony right into the ocean we are that close to the water. Sunsets are awesome, the Host came to fix our connection to T.V. in less than an hour, turns out we probably cause one of the connections to come loose ourselves. Host was super nice. The condo was very clean, lots of upgrades, everything you could ask for was available in the kitchen. Snorkeling gear was also available complimentary. We would definitely stat here again next time we visit the Islands. Very close to shops and restaurants. Thank you Dr. Elliot for an awesome vacation at your beautiful condo. less

— Elizabeth, Stayed 06/21/2019

Great Views

We were fortunate to rent this unit for our stay in the Kona area. The unit was clean, well furnished, and equipped with everything we required for our stay. The ocean view, and ability to watch the sunset every evening from the lanai were outstanding. The only down side was the lack of air conditioning, but every room had ample ceiling fans, and there was a large stand alone fan that we used to help keep things cool. Other than that, we would definitely recommend this property for your stay in the Kona area. less

— Alec, Stayed 06/03/2019

Real Oceanfront

Great corner unit right on the ocean. The sounds of the waves are fantastic as are the views. We saw whales and spinner dolphins from our balcony. The beach just down the road (easy walk) was fantastic for snorkeling (some turtles and lots of fish in shallow and calm water) and it's super easy to stay out of the way of the surfers working the smaller shore break to the right. Having the shopping mall within walking distance was very convenient and Kona was minutes away by car. A great location in a very quiet and clean development/unit. Would recommend it highly. less

— David, Stayed 03/26/2019

Beautiful

This is a beautiful unit with an amazing wrap around lanai and you just can beat the view! It's in a good centralized location in Kona with the grocery store and lots of restaurants within walking distance and just a short drive to the main downtown area. Loved being able to listen to the crashing waves against the rocks and enjoyed the sunsets right from the lanai. This unit has beautiful bathrooms and a high end kitchen with everything that you need. They had coolers and beach gear available for our use which was a really nice perk. The only negative I would say is not having air conditioning, but they have ceiling fans and floor fans in the unit. As long as you keep the blinds closed during the day and let the breeze blow in at night it worked just fine for us. less

— Rachel, Stayed 03/15/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for the nice review, and I am glad you enjoyed your visit. It looks like you figured out that keeping the blinds shut in the small bedroom during the morning hours keeps the place cool….hope to have you visit again.

Great view but no air conditioning was hard

The apartment is in a great location and right on the water! However, no air conditioning was very hard. Even with all the fans going, we were never very comfortable. We actually went out and bought a new mattress cover because the one there actually made us hotter when we slept. Also, the fan in the master was loose and made a bad noise when it was on. I would not return to this unit. It is too bad because the location and view are incredible. less

— Suzanne, Stayed 01/26/2019

Spectacular Sunsets from the Balcony

We loved watching and listening to the waves right outside. We loved watching sunset from the balcony. The ocean view is completely unobstructed. This condo is beautiful on the inside. And the grounds are equally beautiful. The location is very convenient. We walked to Kahalu’u Beach Park. We walked to Keauhou Shopping Center for Saturday's Farmers Market. Downtown ocean-front Kailua-Kona is a very short drive (or bike ride). And access to Highway 11 is very close (for driving south or north) less

Amazing place to stay

This place was perfect! We stayed for 6 days while on our honeymoon, it was Very clean and the view was amazing!! I enjoy cooking and it was well equipped. “We found the condo to be comfortable without any need for a/c. The owner had just replaced the windows to new energy efficient ones, and we found when they are shut and blinds closed during the morning sun, the condo stayed comfortable.  Also, being on the second floor, we felt safe to keep the windows open most of the day and all night for the Trade Winds to keep a nice breeze inside.” I highly recommend staying here. less

— Lisa, Stayed 11/02/2018

Amazing Oceanfront Vacation

Great oceanfront location - can't get any closer to the ocean than this. We had a great stay in this beautiful condo. You will have everything you need for a great stay - except air conditioning. We were there during what seemed like a heat wave and if you have a difficult time sleeping in warm weather, this might not be the best option, but other than this minor inconvenience, we would stay here again - everything else was perfect. less

— Joe, Stayed 09/29/2018

Great location

We loved our condo, especially the fact that it was a corner unit! When we first got there the place was hot! We knew there was no a/c, but when we found the two fans and put all the ceiling fans on , opened all the windows, we were good! It was so nice to look out from the kitchen and see the water and sunsets. This condo is very nicely decorated and pretty well furnished. The beds were extremely comfortable, I meant to look and see what kind of mattress it was so we could purchase one since we need a new one but I forgot. There were only a few things I would change, there were no cookie sheets and the broiler pan was missing the bottom half. It was nice to have the coolers and especially the umbrella which you really need. The only thing they didn't have were beach chairs! So we went out and ourcahsed some of those and left them there for the next visitors, you really need those too. And the last thing I would fix would be the screens in the back bedroom, there are gaps and a few holes so the geckos were frequent visitors in the room! But overall we would definitely stay here again, and the grounds were also beautiful. Thanks for a great vacation! less

— Christopher, Stayed 09/09/2018

Owner/Manager Response

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for leaving a few beach chairs, there usually are a few in the condo (along with snorkeling gear and beach towels) but often they get left in the back of the rental car when it is returned to the airport. By the time your read this, the windows and screens will have been replaced with new energy efficient windows, much cooler. Mahalo for your visit.

Awesome!

We rented unit 5-201 for a week at the end of June through alohacondos.com. Family of four (parents and two teen kids). The condo was amazing! It really lived up to and even exceeded the photos. A spacious kitchen, lovely lanai with gorgeous sunset views right over the ocean, and comfy bedrooms. Recently upgraded with high quality kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, nice tile in kitchen and baths, stainless fridge and dishwasher (super-silent; nicer than the one we have at home), so it feels like a residence that someone cares about, not a vacation rental where everything is an afterthought and cut-rate. Also appreciated ample dishes (nice matched sets) and cutlery. For credibility with nit-pickers out there: some of the living room furniture could use updating soon, a new set of cookware would make meal prep nicer, and one of the cooktop heating elements seems to be dying. But these are really minor issues and are no doubt on the owner's radar screen to take care of, since he clearly does care about the place. It's a real home away from home, as well as a great base from which to explore the entire Island (which we did). After a week we were sad to say farewell. It is an end unit on the second floor (of three), and so the lanai wraps around the corner. Plenty of room for dinner-for-four and lounging in general. It is right on the rocky coast, and no one was above us that week, so it felt very private. The unit has a washer and dryer, which were very helpful. Two bathrooms made life easy for a family of four. We never used the TVs (one in living room and one in each bedroom) but they are there if you want them. There's a storage bin outside with snorkel and other beach gear which came in handy for us. Plenty of towels and linens. The owner and manager were super-responsive and understanding by email when we had questions before arrival (esp. about the vog) and in dealing with a minor ant issue during the week. There is a shopping plaza a very short drive away for groceries, etc. The complex is just far enough from busy streets and tourist destinations that it feels like a relaxed retreat. The only downside is that like most units in the complex it has no AC. For the most part this was not an issue for us, even in the late June weather, even though we live in Arizona and so we are not used to tropical humidity! However, the back bedroom gets a bit warm even with the ceiling fan going, and stayed warm at night. The owner plans to install low-e glass to remedy. Also, while this was not a downside for us, it is worth being aware that if you want a resort with lots of activities and walking distance to shops and restaurants then the Surf and Racquet Club is not the place for you. It's a vacation condo club, not a resort hotel. Know what you want for your vacation. If you want a relaxed retreat literally right on the ocean where you can chill out all day if you want, that is also a good place to launch from in the morning and look forward to land at in the evening after touring all day, that has great spaces for a family to make memories but also enough space for everyone to find their own corner, then this IS the place for you! We loved it and are already thinking about when we can return! less

— Ariel, Stayed 07/22/2018

Perfection in Paradise

We loved this condo from the moment we walked in the door! Beautifully upgraded in warm spacious decor. You couldn't get closer to the surf while enjoying the large wrap around lanai and private location. A well stocked kitchen makes cooking a breeze, plus things like beach towels, ice chests were appreciated. Probably the only negatives would be the BBQ area provided by the complex which needs to be closer and better maintained. I would highly recommend this condo! less

— Leanne, Stayed 05/29/2018

Excellent oceanfront condo

The condo was perfect for my daughter, my 1 year old grandson and me for the 10 days we were in Kona. All the amenities were present. Excellent support from the property manager arranging for delivery & pick-up for the crib & high chair we rented and when we had issues with the TV. Also the morning we were leaving, the parking lot closet to us was closed for tree trimming, but arrangements were made for us to leave our vehicle overnight so we could load up in the morning and I wouldn't have to walk so far to get to the car (I use a cane). The pool is wonderful for a young child! We have stayed at the KKSRC for many years and will certainly come back to this unit in the future! less

— Joan, Stayed 04/09/2018

Everything you could ever want by the ocean!

We will definitely come back to Keauhou Kona Surf 5-201! The very best equipped kitchen of any condo we've rented. All the furniture is comfy--especially the king bed. The bathrooms are well stocked, lots of towels available in the unit. The most awesome part was having the ocean practically at your feet while lounging on the lanai! If you're staying in Kona, look no further for luxury with a stunning view! less

Peaceful, Relaxing

My husband and I recently spent a week in this beautiful condo. The view from the lanai is spectacular and the location of the condo makes it very quiet day and night. Although the condo would get warm in the afternoon and evening, the lanai was always comfortable and the ceiling and auxiliary fans were adequate. We ate most of our meals at the condo and found it well equipped for any meal preparation. Both and owner and Island contact were very responsive to any questions we had. less

Condo 5-201

Excellent in every way. Beautiful condo, great location on the water and where it's located within the complex there's privacy because it's at the far end. The golf course is behind it and beside it and the ocean in front. It's far enough from the parking lot that you don't hear any car noise. Highly recommend. less

August 11th - 16th

We had a great stay at this condo. The condo was clean and well stocked. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai and enjoying the gorgeous view. The only recommendation I would make is to have comfortable lounge chairs. The plastic ones became uncomfortable after a short period of time. We would definitely stay at this property again: ) less

Review from a local and a native Hawaiian

I absolutely loved my stay there. I slept so sweetly. The property was close enough to the grocery Mart and all the best and safest beaches. The bathrooms and rooms were beautiful. The property is close to an old Hawaiian shrine. The ocean waves and the fragrances of the flowers were just heavenly. I can't wait to return. I also cooked my own food. I watched some tv but not too much which was perfect bf I got to do some work in an unrushed calm way. less

Beautiful, comfortable condo and VIEW

My husband and I and our two teenagers spent 4 nights here. This is a fabulous condo. Everything was provided for our easy and comfortable stay: bedding, beach towels, snorkel stuff, pots, pans, utensils ... it was a fabulous retreat. The resort is very nice and we liked the pool. One thing I noticed is that on the map I thought the walk to the beach and to the nearby shopping center would be easy. They're close by and everything, but the walk in the shoulder of the road isn't very pleasant. However, I would much rather stay in another condo here than feel trapped in a resort. It's really special. Thank you for making this dream vacation for our family so special. less

— Ann, Stayed 07/16/2017

Greatest place

We were so happy with this condo! It wasn't just that the furnishings were beautiful but the kitchen was better stocked than any condo we had previously rented. Then, to have beach towels and snorkeling equipment made it even better! We would definitely rent this condo again and would encourage others to stay! less

— Debra, Stayed 06/16/2017

Clean modern facility

While overall we were very happy with our stay, there are just a couple of items that we had a problem with. We were looking forward to playing tennis but there was no equipment in the condo and the manager at the pool area was not in his office and never returned phone calls to borrow the equipment. With just one pool for the entire complex it could get quite crowded and was closed one day for a birthday or graduation party. We lucked into finding the way to the property beach. All the snorkel/beach gear was great - thank you. We could see dolphins from the lanai (with binoculars) but they would soon be surrounded by boats with watchers or snorkelers. The master bedroom gets a wonderful breeze but the second bedroom looking onto the golf course gets extremely hot. There is a big round fan that helped some, but maybe better sunblock window coverings for that room or an air conditioner would be helpful. The place was extremely clean and comfortable. less

— Kathy, Stayed 06/11/2017

Owner/Manager Response

I am glad to hear you were very happy with your stay in Kona.  FYI, sport equipment (tennis, golf, scuba, bicycling, etc.) is not provided, but readily available for rent at many vendors on island. Discount coupons can be found in the kiosks at the baggage pickup area at the airport. I have never heard of the swimming pool being closed for a party, as it can’t be reserved by any owner, but open to all.  I will investigate that situation. Dolphin and whale watching is an exciting event which can’t help but attract lots of attention, even from the locals…..I love seeing them and the good vibe they generate!  Lastly, the dense bamboo shades, on all of the windows in the condo, are there to block the sun and they are quite effective at controlling the sun and temperature, when used.  I will consider posting a small sign informing guests of what the blinds do.    ;) Mahalo for your visit!

Awesome

Our stay was everything we wanted and then some. Our condo was beautifully decorated, well stocked with all the necessities, clean (very important), fabulous location, quiet. Just one issue and it's a small one. Light out in the master bath over the shower. Will most definitely make arrangements to stay again. And SOON!! Aloha Susan Crisp less

Didn't want to leave...

Beautiful condo, we'll appointed with all the amenities. We would recommend this location to anyone travelling to the big Island. Perfect location and best sunset view. Great airflow from the water always keeping the condo cool.

— D Tyler, Stayed 05/28/2017

Fantastic place

This condo is beautifully furnished with an open relaxing floor plan. Lots of space for people to gather or be separate. The kitchen is wonderful and has a few extra things left over from other guests. The ocean sounds drift in all day and night. Playing tennis was easy (we brought our own racquets), swimming in the pool was excellent. Everything was well-maintained. Overall the complex is very quiet- mostly adults that we saw. The beach area is more rocky and harsher sand so bring water shoes. The beach lies off to one side of the complex and has open unused space directly across from it which seemed odd but was fine. I highly recommend this location and condo in particular- it was really great on so many levels! Thank you! less

Nice Accommodations, Great View, Good Location, Construction Noise Distracting

We had a nice time at this complex. The waves would crash on the lava below our lanai and the sunsets were beautiful. There is no air conditioning, but the fans kept the accommodations comfortable. The furniture, appliances, and accessories met all your needs. Although quite a distance from the volcano and tidal pools, there were many other attractions and snorkeling sites close by. One of the best was just down the road within walking distance. We also went to the seahorse and octopus farms. The town of Kailua was close by with a variety of shops and eating places. The one big downside was the construction that was going on in the unit below us. Looking forward to relaxing mornings on the lanai, our days were filled with hammering, sawing, and drilling. At first we thought they would finish the doors in a couple of days and be finished. Not so. Then they started on the windows. Had we known this was going to take place, we would have requested another unit. I am sorry we were not informed of these renovations before we settled in. I made one contact about the situation to express our disappointment. I would recommend contacting the company to make sure there will be no distractions during your vacation. At least do not assume work will be done in a day. Not 100% satisfaction, but we did not let it ruin our vacation or take away the positive experiences we enjoyed. A beautiful island! less

Paradise Found

Second time here Right on the ocean. Maybe quarter mile from a great beach park and snorkeling spot. Had a turtle swim right up to my face. Up the hill the other direction is a mall with restaurants and a local grocery with great local produce and absolutely fresh local fish daily. Past that is Keahou Bay. As pretty a spot as there is on the island. The condo is clean, well furnished and maintained. Usually by Jan or Feb I'm sick from our awful NW winters. Hawaii and especially this place heals me. Fantastic Condo

This is a fantastic condo to rent in the Kona area. Not only is it waterfront so you have the ocean on your doorstep, it also has a corner lanai so you have a view of the golf course as well. This is one of our favorite condos that we have rented in Hawaii. Very comfortable with feeling of home rather than a feeling that you are in a condo building. The open concept with the large kitchen opening on to the sitting room and lanai is hard to beat. The condo is well equipped, clean, has a comfortable bed and has all the beach gear you could possible need, including lots of beach towels. We played a round of golf at the course that backs onto the condo and it was fantastic. There are great grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance, as well as a very good beach to snorkel five minutes walk down the road. The pool area and tennis courts are an added bonus. This resort has a very good feeling - very serene & quiet and well maintained. We will definitely return. less

Amazing!!!

I rented this condo for a week recently and was very impressed how nice, equipped and comfortable 5-201 was. It is located a few miles south of Kona and there is ample shopping near by however, you will feel pleasantly isolated from the tourist grind. The condo is very nice, updated, clean and spacious. I stopped at Walmart and Safeway prior to arriving at the condo which was a mistake. Everything I purchased was already at the condo i.e. shampoo, rinse, soap, spices, etc. Anyway, I had an awesome time in Kona and I absolutely recommend condo 5-201 (or any rental at the Surf & Raquet Club) and give the place 5 stars. Thanks Jay! Mahalo- less

Awesome Location

This absolutely beautiful condo is very centrally located. A short drive to the market place and an even shorter drive to different beaches. It overlooks the ocean, which is breathtaking. This condo has all things necessary and then some. From everyday utensils to beach towels and beach gear. It is private, cozy and very comfortable. We were sad to leave. I will say this much though that if anyone is planning to go in July/Aug you may need an additional portable fan. The unit does not have an AC and the evenings are cool but the days can get pretty warm. If we plan another trip to Kona, we would book this unit in a heartbeat! less

Condo stay

Our stay of 3 nights in your condo was great. The place is very well decorated, extremely clean and had everything we needed. The location right on the water was awesome and we really enjoyed the lanai!!! The only thing I would add is a makeup mirror. The lighting in the bathrooms is really bad for putting on makeup and you can pick up a portable makeup mirror for $30. at Costco. We actually own a condo in Waikoloa Beach Villas and were staying at your condo while some work was being done on ours. That is why I know about the makeup mirror at Costco. Other than that, we loved your place in paradise! less

Heaven in Hawaii

We came out to celebrate our anniversary and were so happy with 5-201! Oceanfront view, the waves lulling us to sleep at night, a bright big kitchen, and a beautiful balcony to watch the sunsets. The kids loved their private room with twin beds --- and we loved the king bed with the soshi-screens for privacy. This is a very unique layout and perfect for a familly of four. The proximity to town was great -- just a short drive into town and right around the corner one of the best snorkeling and "learn to surf" beaches. We just loved every minute! less

We stayed in this cond for six days i was able to spend a great time. Amazing location!

We loved staying in this condo because it was quiet and off the beaten path from most activity in the condo complex. Building five is secluded and offers incredible views of the ocean. Unit 201 was ideal because of its wrap around lanai and many ways to access this lanai. Because of the central island in the kitchen area, the condo was incredibly spacious and well laid out. It had more than we needed in terms of kitchen furnishings. The shower water wasn't very hot so we called Ken and he came over the next day to adjust it for us - much thanks! Though it was very muggy and warm during our stay in May, the ceiling fans kept the place very cool. My husband would have enjoyed having air conditioning but I don't believe any of the units have it and I was more comfortable without it. The sliding screens in the master bedroom offered privacy for my husband and I but of course was not soundproof! Our adult children were in the second bedroom (definitely warmer than the front of the condo) but when anyone was in the kitchen, it would have been nice to have the sound proofing. We really enjoyed the modernization of this unit with gorgeous counters and floors and would highly recommend staying here. We will strongly consider it again! less

Perfect ocean view in paradise

We previously stayed at Kona Surf & Racket three times before...and always loved it. But 5-201 is in a different league. The newly updated unit is very tasteful, the furnature top-notch, as is the lovely kitchen. And the view of the ocean & sunsets...perfect. Couldn't recommend this condo more. less

Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club, Condo 5-201.

One of the nicest places we have stayed. Right on the ocean. Within easy walking distance of my favorite beach park on the big island for snorkeling. Also only about half mile from a shopping center with multiple good restaurants and a great little grocery store. The condo was clean and well layed out. Very spacious. Just a great time less

Best Place to stay on the Big Island

The first thing you get is the view from the deck. The condo is in the last complex so is nice and isolated on one side. There are fantastic blow holes just to the left of the deck. The rooms were very clean and the décor is nicely updated! WiFi included and super fast. The condo is perfect distance from town so it is nice and quiet. Great walking trails. You can walk in the morning to the KTA super market just up the street for some groceries. It is also within walking distance of Keahou Bay which is a really nice calm place to teach beginners how to snorkel before you get to more waves at some of the better snorkeling sites. It is also a fantastic place to paddle board. You will love this stay! I have stayed at the Royal Kona right in town, the Waikoloa Hilton and the Sheraton. This is by far the best stay on the Big Island that we have ever done. It is perfect and well worth the price! FYI. The Ocean and the Mountain golf courses do not open until late January. less

Condo 5-201 Nov 2015 stay

Our stay in 5-201 was superb. The condo is very well furnished and its location provides a beautiful view. It was very relaxing. Definitely a place to which we will consider returning. Only issue we had was the second night -- the exterior walkway lights did not come on and returning to the condo from the parking lot was a very dark walk -- especially since one of our party was a 95 year old with mobility problems. Per the maintenance man I spoke with the next morning, this lighting issue occurs every couple of weeks and they do not know why. less

Grad trip

We had such an amazing time in this condo and when we go back, will stay here again. This was my sons graduation gift and it had to be special. The house was very comfortable and had everything one would need. The condo was very modern and the kitchen was well equipped with all essentials. I loved the fact we were so close to the ocean. We could watch sunsets on the lanai every night and listen to the waves crash on shore. Beds were comfy too. Even though no air Conditioning, the ceiling fans worked very well to cool things off. The pictures listed on the site were accurate. The owner was very helpful and answered all questions very timely. The manager of the condo was very attentive to our needs too. I also love the fact coolers and beach towels were there for our beach trips. All in all, had amazimg time and highly recommend. less

This Oceanfront Condo is Lovely, with all the Comforts of Home

We spent 2 weeks in this lovely condo. My husband, a friend and I were very comfortable in this 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit. It was beautifully appointed with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, as the owners must have just completed a major, high-end reno. Condos can often feel cramped, but this floorplan was reconfigured to an open-concept home, which made it feel spacious. The view from building 5 is stunning. The "blowhole" at the edge of the water is directly below the lanai and is quite entertaining, showcasing the awesome power of the ocean right outside your door. We enjoyed many gorgeous sunsets from our own lanai. In all of the times I have been to Kona, I've rarely found the need for airconditioning. This trip was unseasonally hot for September. The condo does not have airconditioning, but I would never let that stop me from returning--by opening the windows and doors and using the ceiling fans, the unit stayed cool and comfortable. The Surf and Racquet Club itself is a stunning property. The gardens are gorgeous and perfectly manicured, the pool is large and crystal clean, and there is direct beach access at the end of the property for turtle-watching. I could watch the turtles and waves from that very quiet, unused beach all day! This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Surf and Racquet, and we love Keauhou, the quiet of the location, yet the close proximity to stores and shops. We love the stroll through the beautiful property to the pool, but if you want to be close to the noise of a pool, this unit might not be for you. Also, note that there are no elevators at Surf and Racquet. If you have a problem with the 16 stairs up to this unit, then you might want to consider a ground floor unit--I love the view from this unit and 16 stairs is good exercise but not exhausting! The owners have carefully stocked the condo with all of the comforts of home, from brand new washer/dryer with detergent and softener, to every cooking need in the kitchen. I've rented condos and apartments all over the world, and this one rates as excellent in the way it is appointed and stocked--even beach chairs and noodles for the pool are provided. I'm missing Kona as I write this, and my next trip to the island will definitely be to the surf and raquet, and hopefully, if available, to #5-201. less

Amazing sunsets in a very quiet setting right at oceanfront!

The condo was lovely and we especially enjoyed seeing the great sunsets as we dined on the lanai.. The kitchen was beautiful. It is an end unit in an end building and is very quiet. Unit was totally updated and well furnished. Everything was in order and kitchen had everything we needed. Grounds are very well maintained and there were no issues with parking. Kona Surf and Racquet Club 5-201

Awesome property and very friendly staff. The unit itself is a 2nd floor unit and is right on the water with a beautiful view of the ocean and close enough to feel the spray on your face. The owner of the unit has done a great job with this particular unit and it is very comfortable and well furnished. The two twin beds is kind of a bummer, but certainly not a deal breaker. The property itself is very well located and central to almost all activities you will want to do and it's only 15 minutes from the airport. I would definitely recommend a day trip, just a few miles down the road to Hawaii Pack and Paddle for a great day of kayaking and snorkeling. Please respect the policies stated during the booking process which limits the maximum occupancy of this condo to 4 people. 5-201 was a comfortable, well appointed condo with lovely views of the ocean from the balconies and bedroom. Everything as described and pictured!

My gf and I stay at the unit# 5-201 at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club for 2 nights from 5/14 to 5/16/2013. The unit is exactly as described and pictured on the website. Actually, when we saw it in person, it was a lot better than pictured. Beautiful ocean-front views from both the living room and master bedroom. The unit was recently remodeled and the furniture were very clean as well. It was a little too big for just the two of us as this is a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit. All in all, it was perfect from time of booking to check-out. Everything was very easy. The owner communicates very well during the whole process via email and provides all the pertinent information. Spectacular accommodations

Condo 5-201 is exactly as pictured, it is beautifully decorated and everything still looks new and is in perfect condition and very clean. The furniture and beds were comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view and sound of the ocean made us feel like we were right on the beach. The ocean was loud at times but we saw that as a plus and the reason we wanted to stay right on the water. We appreciated the little extras like beach towels, beach chairs and boogie boards. Having those items available to take to the beach was very helpful. If we had to name any negatives, one would be the lighting and ventilation in the master bathroom, it was very dim and made it difficult to put on makeup, although I found using the mirror in the master bedroom, with all the light from the bedroom windows, a good solution. The bathroom also has only a small window, no fan, so after a shower it stayed pretty warm in there. A small fan would have made a huge difference. The grounds of the resort were very pleasant and well maintained. The pool area was much nicer than it looked in the pictures and was a great place to relax in the sun. We were very happy with our choice to stay at this condo and if we return to Kona, we would definitely want to stay here again. less

Spectacular condo (shhh)

I almost don't want to tell anyone about this condo, because I don't want the competition if we want to return. ;-) Well furnished, clean, comfortable, beautiful, quiet condo - other than the spectacular waves a few feet (really!) from the lanai. There was a high surf on our first day and as my daughter said, "who needs New Year's fireworks?" Wonderful stuff! There were also whales, dolphins, outrigger canoes and sunsets. The shopping center is within walking distance, as are two beaches - one with snorkeling, the other with sups, kayaks and snorkeling/scuba tours. The owner was easy to work with, getting in and checking out was no problem whatsoever, and Keauhou is a nice base from which to explore the west and south sides of the Big Island. We highly recommend this unit (but please don't tell anyone else). less

Our favorite

This is our favorite condo in the whole complex. Decor and furnishings are high end and beautiful. Lots of extra touches and a very quiet condo with crashing waves out front during storms and high swells. This time we watched some java sparrows trying to get their babies to fly from the nest on the lanai to their new home in a tree. This took a week of hilarity and we became foster parents, helping the babies not crash into the windows. What a treat! There was high wave action this time and spectacular crashing and booming waves on the lava. We hated to leave. less

Best in Surf and Racquet Club

180 degree views of ocean just a stone's throw away from wrap around lanai. The unit is well appointed. Professionally decorated. Quite spacious. It's great to be able to watch the TV and the ocean at the same time since the olympics was on. We walked around the property a bit and visited a couple open houses. None of the units were as nicely decorated with the tile, kitchen, bathroom as 5-201. I left all windows and doors open to get a breeze inside the unit since there was no a/c. I wasn't bothered to much, good quality screens on all. The view from the master bedroom as well as the living room is fantastic. The master doesn't quite close off as there is a hallway to the other bedroom and bathrooms. I would return to this unit, but I also might try the marriott if you want to be more centrally located, but don't care about seclusion or spend much time in the room. less

Wonderful

Two of us spent 6 nights here in early May and it was by far the nicest place we have stayed in the Kona area. The condo was very clean, fully appointed and equipped for every need during our stay, including beach/snorkling equipment and tons of beach towels. It was also incredibly quiet unlike some of the other popular beach areas. Step above the rest

The condo was very nice. The kitchen is arranged to accommodate family gatherings, or comfortable informal meals. However, there is no kitchen table, the island provides a nice area where you can eat. We rented two other condo's at the same time to have a family vacation together. This unit was perfect for congregating for our meals and family time away from the beach. It was a step above the others with a walk in shower for the master. It is stocked well with pans and necessary kitchen items, bath towels, beach toys, etc. so we had a great time. The only draw back is that although it is a beautiful setting we had to drive to beaches but we knew this before going so it was not an issue for us and almost a safety feature for having 8 grandchildren together by the water. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thanks for your review and we're very happy to hear you had a great time. Also glad to hear you were able to put our kitchen table-island to use for your family. Reminder, we also have seating for 4 at the table on the lanai where you can enjoy the ocean and the wonderful trade winds that bless the West side of the Big Island. And yes, the Big Island is not a particularly "sandy-beachy" island but remember, there is a nice little black sand beach at the North end of the resort, just a 3 minute walk from the condo. And make sure to get the early-morning snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park (some of the best snorkeling on the island), just 10 minutes walk North on Ali'i drive. Jay, owner 5-201

Our stay in the condo was purely amazing. It had every amenity a family would need to have a five star stay. I would recommend this condo to anyone coming to Kona for a stay. Beautiful Unit, Fantastic Locaiton, noisey complex

Absolutely love this unit--beautiful kitchen, great furnishings, great relaxing furniture and a fantastic lanai looking out onto the ocean!! The location is fantastic--excellent snorkeling within walking distance & just a 5 minute drive to downtown Kona. My only reservation was the sounds/noise heard from other guests staying at htis complex. We were on the second floor, and therefore heard noise from below & above. Our downstairs neighbors complained to us about our noise! And, believe me, all we did was walk gently. Its just the way the buildings are built. The buildings have no air conditioning which is not really necessary for temperature control (wonderful ocean breezes), but for noise control, it would have been nice to close the windows at night. Also, we were there during the busiest time of year (Christmas, 2011). I suspect that during less busy times, there is less noise. Having said that, I still really love this place. Next time I'll bring my ear plugs. less

My husband & I stayed for a week in this beautiful condo. Our son and 2 1/2 year old grand daughter shared it with us and it was perfect. Overlooking the ocean, we saw pods of up to 30 dolphins swim by each morning along with boats and sparkling lights in the distance at night. The gorgeous kitchen is great for cooking and sharing family meals and the 'smart' appliances, comfortable beds and beautiful furnishings make this space very special. Close proximity to 2 great beaches and snorkeling spots plus the down town shopping district made our stay the total package. less

This place is really wonderfull

This condo is beautiful, well equipped, clean and quiet. The view is not only outstanding but I think one of the best in the complex. The condo owner and manager were friendly and responded promptly to any concerns or questions that we had about the condo. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! less

Kona's best secret

We have stayed here twice at this condo. I would not stay anywhere else on the island! It will exceed your expectations of a vacation stay. It has a view of the ocean and the beautiful golf course from different locations in the condo. Jay,the owner is accessible to communicate during the entire process. less

Perfect Vacation

I researched for days trying to locate the best condo for my family. I am a single mom with 3 teenagers so it was hard to find enough space for all of us. I found it here. First, the location is a minute from the grocery store plaza, but more importantly for us farther away from the bustle of town. We loved to go into town for shopping and dining and enjoyed coming back to our quiet resort. This condo is amazing. The view from the wrap around covered porch took my breath away. It was my favorite part of the condo. The furniture was soft, comfortable and placed to see an ocean view from every seat. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and was masterfully designed with the large granite island and countertops. The best of everything was put into this kitchen. The beds and baths were immaculately kept and very comfortable. I especially liked the deck and windows open to the ocean breezes at night. The owner, Jay was extrememly efficient and pleasant. He answered every question I had in no time at all. I had left some personal items there at the condo and I contacted him and he was on it and they were shipped to me immediately. That says a lot to his character and his passion for his rental and clients. I will come back to this exact unit and if you are looking for a condo in Kona look no more, you found it. less

Wonderful condo.

This unit was fantastic. The first thing that blew us away was the view. The quality of the unit was also a nice surprise. We stayed at the Hilton King's Land first then rented 5-201 for the last few days of our vacation in Kona. We all agreed that for us the Keauhou Kona condo fit our family (2 adults 2 older teenage boys) much better than the bigger resorts. Nearby snorkeling was also better here than the Hilton. I loved the fact that they had some flippers that we could borrow. Hope I don't convince too many people to book here because we would love to come back. Fyi - the master bedroom is separated from the living area by shoji sliding screens. This gives it less of a private feel than a full wall. The second bedroom is more private. less

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

We had a wonderful time staying at this condo. The owner was punctual and provided us with all the information about the condo each step of the way. This particular condo was nice, because it was tastefully remodeled and had an open feel. We visited another building within the same club, and they weren't as nice. The lanai is big and private. The other buildings were much closer together, so there wasn't much privacy. I was a bit concerned about the noise of the waves keeping me awake at night, but with the windows closed, I was able to sleep through the night. Overall, the condo was very well equipped for guests to enjoy the island vacation. One thing that bothered me was that the coffee machine didn't look very clean. Maybe just mineral deposits or something. Good thing we took some instant coffee with us... Thank you, we had a great time! less

This condo is very beautiful and updated. It has a fantastic view and is a very comfortable place to stay. We went in late October when it was very quiet and the weather was great.

Spectacular!! First Class accomodations

Wow!!! Of the many condos I have rented in my many trips to the various Hawaiian Islands, this is without a doubt the finest. -Ocean view: any closer and you would get wet. The condo is situated to have an unobstructed view for miles up the coast. -Privacy: Being on the second floor, no passerbys can see in. Being an end unit, there are lots of windows and on all three sides, but adjacent buildings are not close and they are situated so they can not easily see inside. We kept the drapes open the entire week to fully enjoy the spectacular view of ocean, mountains, and golf course. -Quiet: It is well off alii Drive, so no road noise or traffic. Being the last building in the complex, it is surrounded by ocean or golf course and little pedestrian traffic. Very peaceful feeling here. We were surprised to find that there is even an ancient heiau (temple) archeological site just 20 feet off the lanai. -Upscale and modern design: We thought we were staying in a private residence. It appers to be freshly remodeled as everything looks new and very clean. Furniture was upscale and not the usual rental condo rattan stuff. Only natural stone on floors and countertops, and stainless appliances in kithen. Both TVs were flat panal Lcds. Highly recommended, I am definitely coming back here to this unit. Probably the nicest condo for rent on the island. less
