Beautiful condo right by the ocean

This is our fourth trip to the islands staying in a condo and this was the best one by far. It was a beautiful setting right on the ocean with 180 degree views. The condo complex is well kept, clean, and very quiet. The ground floor location was wonderful and my kids were able to play in the grass right off the lanai it extended our outside area. Two full size beds In the extra room was great. Very clean with everything you could possibly need. Even a coffee grinder for that Kona coffee! Beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, beach towels, floaties, even ice chests made our stay even better. I would say the only con is there is not a beach in walking distance. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone staying in the Kona area. less

Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club

Our family had a great time in Kona. The condo was very clean and well stocked. The hosts supplied some beach gear that saved us from having to purchase or rent our own. The location and views are the best. Quiet, but close to beach, shopping, and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again. less

Very pleasant stay

This is a spacious condo with an exceptional amount of outdoor space alongside the ocean. We enjoyed watching the Hawaiian canoes crossing the bay from Keauhou to Kailua town multiple times each day along with watching for Spinner Dolphins. The condo is well appointed and very clean - no issues with anything. It is walking distance to the exceptional snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park - go early - water clarity improves as you swim out. There is a salt and pepper beach at the other end of the complex that is little used and is nice to walk along and observe the occasional turtles. This building is at the very end of the complex with a golf course behind it and the ocean in front so it is the quietest building and it is far enough off of Ali'i Drive that the traffic on that does not impact the building at all. It also has a lovely view of Kailua town's lights at night. less

Excellent Condo

This is the second time we stayed at this condo. We came back for a reason. It is clean, beautiful view and a great location. You can catch the sunset on the lanai while feeling the ocean breeze. The grounds are kept very clean and have lots of tropical plants everywhere. There isn't air conditioning, but when you are so close to the ocean you can just open the doors and let the breeze run through. This is definitely a winner in our eyes. less

Fabulous place to be.

We stayed at 5-101 at Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club for 10 nights. It felt like being at home only home doesn’t have surf spraying into the air 30 feet from the front door. We selected this unit because it is on the ground floor and not only has a wrap around lanai but a beautiful lawn and an incredible views along the coast all the way to Kailua Kona. During the day we enjoyed the surf along the shoreline and during the night the lights of the town illuminated the distant shoreline. The condo itself was a joy. We traveled and explored the island and its beaches and whenever we returned home we were happier to be home than anywhere else. less

Everything was wonderful. Condo was beautiful and very clean. Location of condo was perfect. Bed comfy and kitchen well equipped. We will look to stay again when we return to the Big Island. Thank you!

Fantastic Place

This condo is roomy, spotless, quiet and tastefully decorated. Kitchen is well stocked. Beach chairs and umbrellas, snorkeling gear and a boogie board were great additions. The ocean view is wonderful and listening to the waves at night and birds in the morning was glorious. There is no beach here, just lava. a 10 minute walk to a great snorkeling one way and a shopping center the other way. Highly recommend it. less

Excellent Accommodations!

I recently spent five nights at this lovely property. The location is perfect, the condo was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the furnishings and decor are lovely. The unit is directly on the ocean, with unobstructed views. It is also very private and quiet. The owner was very responsive and helpful to some last minute changes due to our flights. I cannot recommend this property enough. We've stayed in many condo rentals over the years, and this is definitely one of the very finest. less

Peaceful, secure ocean view

So much to love in this quiet condo by the sea - security in the gated community, a neverending view of the changing oceanscape, the family atmosphere at the very well-kept swimming pool, the general use, well-maintained propane grills distributed around the property. There is parking for one car plus ample visitor spots, should you need them. We did not use the bus system, but the stops seem fairly convenient to the condo, should the need arise. The local shopping is easy and plentiful at the Keauhou shops up the road, and a night out, complete with manta ray sightings, is easily had at the nearby Sheraton resort, if you don't feel like going to downtown Kona or somewhere further afield. We were especially appreciative of the condo association's attentiveness during Hurricane Lane. Lanai barriers were set up securely and taken down promptly. Only 3 minor drawbacks, nothing terribly inconvenient to us, but it might make a difference to some renters. One - keeping bikes at the property was a little complicated - they can't be kept on the lanai, which makes renting e-bikes a little awkward; and the notices/rules posted at the bike-locking station are a little daunting, too numerous to list here. Two - while the ocean breezes and electric fans kept this condo comfortable for us, those with lung issues or other health issues affected by heat and unfiltered air should know that there no air conditioning. Three - while there is shoreline access, it is limited to a somewhat forbidding lava beach, with the closest sandy beach or easy snorkeling access about 1/4 mile up the road at Kahalu'u Beach Park. (We braved the bike situation and biked to Magic Sands on beach days, about a mile away.) less

Comfy Condo

Condo 5-101 is a wonderful place to stay. Very quiet, clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could need and the bathrooms are well stocked. The view of the ocean is calming and the breeze off it keeps it cooler. There’s a shopping center close by which makes it convenient. We would stay here on our next visit. less

Paradise Found!

Condo 5-101 at Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is an amazing place! The furnishes are all top notch and the view, ah, the view. You can not beat that amazing view of the Pacific. All of the rooms at the condo are a very good size so even with 4 people in our group we never felt cramped for space. Side note, the kitchen is the best equipped I have ever had. The only thing I was missing was a hand whip but only because I was to lazy to grab the electric mixer. Really, well done! If we ever come back to Kona I will do my best to rent 5-101 again. less

Amazing!

Aloha! What a beautiful, warm and welcoming home! Thank you for the thoughtful welcoming gift! Our stay was made even better with your well stocked kitchen, and supplies for the beach ie comfy chairs! We did make a lot of our meals, and ate inside & out, the only thing I couldn’t find was placemates for the glass table! We didn’t want to harm the tables! The extra fans came in hand for night time sleeping! We also made sure all the fans were turned off when we left the condo:) We will pass on our great experience to others!! Mahalo Martha less

Oceanfront doesn't get better than this!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well-appointed beautifully-located condominium right on the ocean. Dolphins cavorted every morning and sunsets were glorious. The grounds of this gated development were meticulously groomed, the pool and tennis courts were definite advantages. A quick walk took us to a quiet black sand beach. Shopping and dining were nearby. Our thanks to the owners who made this so special for us. less

Beautiful Location and Condo

Condo was well situated for many activities. North for restaurants, shopping and tourist stuff. South for nature and history. Beach adjacent. Lanai on oceanfront. Condo has substantial furniture and is well stocked. Highly recommend.

Great stay

Our stay at Condo 5-101 at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club was perfect. The condo is well-appointed, spotless, comfortable with a great view of the ocean. The beds were very comfortable, in-condo laundry facilities, and snorkeling and beach equipment in the closet. We couldn't have asked for more - except to stay a bit longer. Thank you for sharing your place with us. less

Special Place!!

This is a truly, truly special place. This condo is an enviable corner unit, located at the very end of the complex, and is quiet and private. It's incredibly clean and comfortable. Don't be dissuaded by the lack of HVAC; you really don't need it. The building and windows are designed to be cooled by the trade winds, making for a comfortable sleep. The condo is very nicely appointed and conducive to relaxing; we definitely felt like VIPs. The owners clearly take very good care of this property. The unit comes with all the amenities--blow dryer, iron and ironing board (if you need it--who irons in Hawaii?) full-sized washer/dryer, and plenty of cookware, small appliances (coffee maker, toaster, blender), and dishes to enjoy any or all meals right there, if you wish. You'll find a pool and tennis courts at the complex, as well as a small, but picturesque, beach. The complex is a short walk from a handful of very good, casual restaurants, a movie theater, and a grocery store, as well as a couple of shops, but be aware that it's a few miles to Kailua/Kona, and Hilo and the volcano are each a day trip. So, if you have plans to go beyond the immediate area, you should secure transportation. But, let's face it--we landlocked sorts visit Hawaii, mainly, with two things in mind: warmer climes, and the ocean. You're mere feet from the water, protected by a short seawall of volcanic rock, which frames a stunning ocean view, and sunsets that will take your breath away. If we should find ourselves again on the Big Island--and we hope so--we'll definitely look at the availability of this unit before anything else. less

Big Island Vcation

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful weeks at this special condo in April. The unit is as correctly described in the previous reviews. We had stayed at the KKS&RC in the past and when we discovered that condo #5-101 was available for our desired time frame we were elated that we could book it. Mike and Barb are very responsive and always replied to our inquiries the same day. The location of the condo, in the Southernmost building, assures isolation from any vehicular noise as well as disruption from those folks that are enjoying the tennis courts or the beautiful swimming pool and veranda. We started most days with coffee on the lanai, checking the activity on the ocean in front of us, which varied each day. One day, as the early morning sun highlighted the deep blue water, we witnessed several pods of spinner dolphins putting on an acrobatic show directly in front of us, close enough to shore that we didn't need our binoculars. This lasted for at least 20 to 30 minutes. The corner location of the condo allowed daily breezes with no need for A/C. It also gave us easy access to the grilles (both gas and charcoal) and to the assigned parking space. We appreciated the first floor access since our senior legs do not do well on stairways. The condo's furniture and amenities are well appointed and the ceanliness of the unit cannot be overstated. We witnessed the sun set over the ocean horizon each evening, when the clouds and vog didn't interfere. We will definitely try to book this unit on future trips to the Big Island. less

Tons of privacy, perfect location and perfect set up!

Was looking for a place to celebrate a get together with siblings from back east. The waterfront, lanai and pictures of the inside of the condo are what made us choose this unit. What we found ended up being better than in the photos. We're into food and were pleasantly surprised with the kitchen supplies and set up. Also lots of privacy both inside the condo and outside (rooms well laid out and the building is the last at the end of the road). Little surprises we did not expect made our trip easier: access to a small cooler with ice packs and high grade Tupperware so we could bring lunches and food every day. The welcoming kit was also a nice touch. It rained a lot during the trip but we had all our meals outside, and our mellow after dinner time was also outside listening to the waves crashing. Very quiet place, clean and with beautiful landscaping. This being a corner unit gave us more lanai space and privacy than other units nearby. We were treated to a 30-min show of whales breaching right in front of the unit on our last morning. When arranging the booking, the owner was very responsive and accommodating and we never waited more than a day to get clarifications or updates. The unit played a role in giving us a beautiful and successful holiday. Would go back there in a snap for this kind of trip. less

Tropical Retreat!

After weeks of research for a oceanfront private condo we rented this two bedroom first floor corner unit 5-101 for twelve days during May of 2016. It was just my wife and I. Our research paid off! What a well maintained unit. What you see is what you get and then some! Exactly as described. Tropical furnishing well maintained and with all the appliances, utensils, and beach toys required. Very clean and nicely upgraded. Being a corner first floor unit provided the privacy and space we love. The corner sliding glass doors provided the seamless indoor/outdoor transition one cannot enjoy on upper levels. The grassy area with tropical hedges provided the outdoor privacy and seclusion we were hoping for. A few steps from the patio and you have dynamics of the amazing ocean and the sound of the waves crushing against the lava rocks. The owners and property management thought of everything. The Surf and Racquet club is beautiful, constantly maintained and quiet. We enjoyed every moment. This was our second visit to Kailua Kona. We stayed at a different condo on our first visit...nothing as perfect as this one. And, for the price, space and oceanfront...the hotels are no comparison. Loved the attention given to the smallest details to ensure all amenities were available. A shopping plaza is just up the street. Don't overlook this one! Aloha! less
