Love the view

We loved the location of the condo on the grounds. Easy to get to all the pools and the little black sand beach that we could see from our lanai. The view was AMAZING from the lanai. Condo is nice but could use some updates/upgrades.... more Especially air conditioning. The fans helped a little but we ran them all the time. The people above us were VERY loud and we heard every step they took. We liked the covered parking and the bbq was nice because it was close to the condo. A condo that really shows it’s age

The view from the lanai was great - waking up to seeing the water every morning was very relaxing. The light from the lanai however wasn’t working so we weren’t able to have dinner outside (he had suggested to maybe take a lamp outside but... more we didn’t bother). The apartment was large (just me and my husband traveled) with lots of space to store your stuff. However the condo felt a little dated. Everything was showing it’s age - from the pots and pans to the appliances (even one of the coolers had spider webs inside it so we had to clean it well before using it). We ran into some problems with the sink clogging and getting a hold of the owner took a couple days. By then the condo got stuffy and it started to smell. He eventually got back to us but by then we were leaving the next day. There is no AC but there are plenty of fans so we weren’t hot at night. The property it’s on is nice. They have multiple pools and hot tubs. It’s a great location in big island - conveniently close to many beaches and grocery stores. I just think for what we paid, the condo could have been more updated. A little overpriced despite the amazing views. less

Kanaloa at Kona

This rental property was pretty awesome. The view from the lanai is worth the price of the condo alone. The owners obviously want their patrons to feel welcome and there were many extras that were unique: free, locally grown fruits / vegetables with a reuseable... more shopping bag in a gift basket - very appreciated! Plenty of beach gear, provided gratis, was available. A good selection of on-site gas grills. A good variety of pools were provided on the property. I'd rent again Nitpicks: lack of adequate lighting in the bathroom, lack of adequate lighting on the lanai. These criticisms should not detract from a decision to book this residence. If you love Hawaii, you'll love this place less

Everything we needed and more.....

We recently spent ten days in Kona and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation! We can't say enough about the lovely condo we rented 3403 Kanaloa at Kona owned by Craig and Anita. The condo was comfortable, had a lovely view of the bay and was very... more quiet and relaxing. The bedroom was roomy and had ample space in the closet and drawers for our things. The ensuite bathroom was lovely and had a large remodeled walk-in shower with tons of room. The kitchen had everything we needed and the furnishings were comfortable and the condo felt spacious. The lanai was off the living room (looking over the bay) was a favourite spot to spend time and it was equipped with a lovely teak dining set and lounger. We spent mornings and evenings watching the waves roll up on the shore (soooo relaxing)..... Things that stood out for us were the welcome basket with local coffee, fruit and preserves, what a thoughtful way to welcome your guests. It was very much appreciated! Other things provided were beach towels, a cooler to take along, flippers and snorkels and beach chairs. We really appreciated this courtesy! Craig, the owner stayed in touch prior to our arrival offering suggestions of things to do and see and after we arrived we touched base again. Nice having that connection for sure. Each morning we would get up, grind our Kona coffee before heading to the ocean pool for a hot tub and relax before planning our days activities. The only thing we wish is that the pools were heated (perhaps by solar power) but it might be that isn't necessary as the temperatures rise in the spring and summer months. Each evening we would take a stroll to the ocean patio area to watch a magnificent sunset. Thank you for providing such a lovely place for our memorable holiday to Kona. Loved it!

A lovely condo with a beautiful view of the Bay. We were lucky to have some big waves during our stay which made for some great lanai time! Very well equipped with beach towels and a good assortment of water equipment such as snorkels, fins,... more masks and water shoes. Kitchen has what you need and the fridge even had condiments which was a bonus. The Keauhou Mall is a walkable distance away with restaurants, pub, shopping and KTA for groceries. The owner was super helpful and accommodated our request for extra days at short notice and also gave a ton of very good info about local restaurants and activities. Maholo Craig! Fabulous

The complex is located in a perfect spot, between all the wonderful beaches and activities. The complex is right on the water with a walking path to a lava beach, great snorkeling and a golf course. My husband and I recently stayed for 1 week in Condo #3403. It's off the main thoroughfare, tucked into a neighborhood, a very tranquil setting just 6 miles south of the Kailua Kona city center. Three swimming pools and tennis courts provide plenty of entertainment onsite. A large shopping center center is 1 mile from the condo providing easy access to groceries, post office, brew pub and restaurants. This condo is outstanding. Perfectly located and easy to find, neat and tidy, clean, quiet, fun and had everything we needed for an excellent wedding/adventure weekend! There's no AC but didn't bother us in the slightest as the March/April night winds cool everything down significantly. The 5-6a morning bird song is aggressive especially since no ac = open windows, BUT, ear plugs and/or a pillow over the head did the trick and if we needed to close the windows at 5a the room stayed cool until about 9a. There was some foot noise from the family above us but that'll happen wherever you go. Otherwise, the overall serenity of the condo can't be missed - and the guidebook on the bookshelf has everything you need to know!! This place is absolutely delightful and I can't wait to get back. I stayed at this condo for a weekend getaway and it was just great. Great unit in this lovely complex. The condo was sparkling clean, had all utensils needed for cooking and was very quiet and comfortable. While the unit has no A/C, the ceiling fans were ok for keeping the condo cool specially comfortable in the morning and... more evening. A home away from home during our stay in Paradise

From our initial contact with aloha Condos to our final departure to the mainland everything was handled with the utmost of professionalism; making our stay on the Big Island very enjoyable. We have stayed at Kanaloa at Kona on four other occasions and would not stay at another location when visiting the Island of Hawaii. Comfortable, quiet stay

We stayed in unit 3403 at Kanaloa for a week and found it to be clean, comfortable, quiet and very pleasant. While we tended not to use the lanai off the bedroom much, this was simply because the larger lanai, off the livingroom, is also... more adjacent to the ocean. There are plenty of birds, nice breezes and gentle waves that lap up on the shore just a few yards from the unit. The location is quite convenient, as long as you have a vehicle (which I would think of as a necessity on the Big Island anyway). It is close to the village of Kailua and not far off the main highway that runs up and down the west side of the island. Having the internet connection was very handy. There is no landline phone, but we both had very strong cell phone coverage (with different providers). The only downside is the lack of a/C; however, this was noticeable mostly on our arrival because the unit had been closed up tight and it took a few hours to cool it down. After that, there was usually a sufficient amount of breeze to keep the place cool. less

Very large, peaceful condo with a beautiful east-facing partial

We really enjoyed the condo. Sitting on the lanai as the sun rose and the waves lapped (or crashed) at the shore was my favorite part of our stay. The condo has a very well equipped kitchen. We liked the fact that there are 2... more bathrooms but they could use a bit of modernizing. We also liked having the hard-wired internet access in the condo so that we could stay in touch with family and check our home town and sports news. The condo is on the second floor, with a set of about 15 stairs to get to it. This could be a problem for poeple with mobility issues. The resort is located just down the road from a large shopping centre with a grocery store, drug store, restaurants and shops. We used many of these services on multiple occasions. We have already recommended the condo to friends and we will continue to do so. less

Living in a lush, tropical garden with an ocean view

We loved condo 3403 with its ample space, tasteful furnishings, and two lanais: one overlooking the lapping waters of the bay, and the other with tropical flowers and a clear view of our rental car. The condo is a short drive from a shopping center... more with a grocery store, a full-service post office, banks, several restaurants, etc. It is also close to the Kona Country Club where we were able to golf the ocean course. We took several day trips along the southern coast, up the northern Kohala Coast and the beaches, to Hawi and the extreme north coast, and over the mountain to Waimea. We also managed a few beach days and some time to enjoy the pools at the resort. All breakfasts and most dinners were leisurely enjoyed in our condo. We hated to leave and would return here in a minute. Al, the owner, was helpful and receptive to our needs. Great place to stay! One can never do justice to the Big Island in just a week. Great Location- Great Vacation

This is a well placed condo, with a nice view and sounds of the ocean in a small cove, a few hundred feet beyond the lawn. We rented from the owner through alohaCondos.com (great web site!). Very good value at $99 night plus $125 cleaning... more fee. All the comforts of home, plus extras that other guests had left. The unit is somewhat dated but everything was clean and worked (the vertical blinds can be a challenge though). Well stocked with kitchen utensils and pans, and an outdoor barbeque just steps from the front door. The main noise we experienced was from the rental unit above (we called that flat footed family "the elephants"). We often had the pool all to ourselves; the adult pool is a special treat with extra warm water for evening swimming. The recent tsunami cleared out a lot of vegetation in the cove (no damage to the condos which are up on a rocky bluff) so the view is even better now and a gravel beach has emerged which you can walk down to and swim/snorkel. We've stayed at Kanaloa at Kona three times before and this resort is our favorite location, very convieniently placed for the grocery store and the fabulous snorkeling a 5 minute drive away at Kahalu'u beach and the world class snorkeling sites 30 minutes to the south. We'll be back! less

Too good to be true

My wife and I were amazed at the value which was presented to us by staying two weeks at this condo. It far surpassed our expectations. The view of the bay was spectacular as well as soothing to listen to. All possible dinnerware and cookware... more were provided. Cable modem for computer use was a big plus. The multiple pools both normal and hot/Jacuzzi were immaculate. Bbqs were located everywhere. The physical location of the complex is very well situated. I really can't say enough good things about this rental. I must mention a small minus though. Sleeping beyond 6:30am is almost impossible because of the property staff preparing the adjecent pool area for daily use. Their conversations were heard as if they were in the bedroom with us. Still I would stay here again anytime knowing that scenario. less

Great Honeymoon!

Our unit was perfect! We came for our wedding & stayed for the honeymoon. My parents had come here before so were familiar with Kanaloa. Love the quiet here & the new restaurant with great food.
