Wonderful Stay!

The condo is just as described and shown in photos. Very roomy and comfortable and nicely decorated. We did pay extra for the A/C which I think was worth it, mainly because we like to sleep cool at night. But there's lots of ceiling and floor fans if you don't want to pay for the A/C. We loved sitting on the lanai, listening to the waves, watching the whales, dolphins, sunsets, kayakers, and boats. As someone else mentioned on a prior post, since this is a second story unit, there are 16 steps from the front door up to the living area. No problem for our group, but it could be a concern for those with mobility issues. The location of the Condo is close to the Ocean Pool and all the other amenities are also close by. The allotted parking space is a bit tight as we had rented a larger SUV but were still able to squeeze in. I highly recommend this Condo. less

Didn't have enough time to enjoy all the amenities!

Our week was very comfortable staying in this condo! Beautiful, quiet, big and airy is the best description. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. We were glad to find that two baby gates were there to keep our great grandson away from the stairs. The only glitch was the loft bed, two twins pushed together to make a king. It was solved with a topper. Our added bonus was spotting a whale from the deck one morning. Listening to the waves lulled us to sleep at night. A very nice getaway! less

Amazing Views!

This was our first time traveling to Kona HI and we are so thankful we found this condo. We had 4 adults and a 2.5 year old. Very spacious, parking spot, fantastic balcony on top of the ocean. We saw dolphins outside the lanai daily with gorgeous sunset views. Very quiet complex with 3 pools (ocean pool was our favorite). Conveniences and grocery store just up the street. 15 min drive to the downtown Kona area. Will be staying there again. less

Beautiful Condo

The condo had everything we needed and the view was amazing. Enjoyed spending time on the lanai every morning with our coffee and drinks in the evening for sunset. Mark was very responsive to all our questions. Highly recommend!!!

Excellent condo!

My friend and I couldn’t be happier with our stay at this condo and wouldn’t hesitate to rent this unit again! In fact my friend had me send her all of the booking information so she and her husband can rent the same unit on their next stay. The condo was very clean and comfortable, the view from the lanai is unmatched and the complex itself was also a pleasure to stay at (great system for checking in, nice pools open late, gated security.) It was so nice to have a fully stocked kitchen, we used the blender to make cocktails and a lot of plates and glasses while we were there (having a dishwasher was a plus.) My friend used the washer and dryer and was very happy. The unit is very spacious and decorated with a funky Hawaii vibe, we really liked the theme. The minor downside is that the 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, rather than a queen or king, so if two friends are staying someone will be sleeping on a twin bed (which wasn’t a big deal- the beds were very comfortable.) We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations, it made our vacation very enjoyable! less

Great location and nice condo

We stayed at this condo for 9 days and enjoyed our time. The location was perfect, just off the high-tourist area, but close enough to drive to. Watching the waves crash from the deck just cannot be beat. Great sunsets every night. The condo was nice, kitchen is conveniently stocked, bedrooms were comfortable. My only complaint is that the couches are very uncomfortable and could use an update. But all things considered the view from the deck trumps all. The owner was courteous and comms were good. The condo area was nice and our 8 year old loved the pools. Everything was well kept and clean and we had no issues while staying here. less

In need of a lot of maintenance

Seemed clean enough. Outdated. Furniture was very uncomfortable. Kitchen counter tops were a little sticky. Jacuzzi tub in Master Bath leaked. Toilet exhaust fan in master bath either had no switch or didn't work if it was interlocked with the light switch in toilet. Guest bath shower valve piped backwards. Hot is cold, cold is hot. Drier does not dry. Drier exhaust was disconnected upon arrival I reconnected it and realized why it was disconnected. Plugged drier vent. This is a fire hazard. Ceiling fans were noisy. A/C was very drafty. Owner was a real jerk and owners' wife was very rude and impatient. Not a nice person. Would not rent again or recommend this place to anyone. Liked the complex but hated the condo. less

Love this place!

Our family has rented several units in this area. We love this unit for the 3 bedroom and 3 full bathrooms. There are beach chairs and a. Ice umbrella which was super useful. There was also a vita mix which was awesome. This was a great place to stay. less

Beautiful Oceanfront Location!

We had a lovely stay at this spacious, well-supplied condo with covered parking. Enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai - dolphins swam by every morning! Appreciated the close location to restaurants and grocery store at Keauhou Shopping Center and to Kahalu'u, our favourite snorkelling beach. A few minutes drive into Kona with good eats oceanside at Kai's, Papa Kona, Canoe Club, Don the Beachcomber, and Kona Inn. Mark was easy to get in contact with and gave us all the information needed to have a great stay. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home! less

Great views - Wonderful floorplan!

I cannot imagine a better place to stay in the Kona area! The rock formations outside of our lanai could not be beat - I am sure we had the absolute best view on this side of the island. Because of the way the condos are positioned, our lanai felt very private - no other condo had a view of our lanai. For 5 adults, the floorplan was perfect, allowing each of us some privacy but still having ample room for dining together or playing games at night. The master bathroom is HUGE! The location of Konaloa at Kona is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from downtown Kona. At first that seemed like a ways to go every time but after being there, I wouldn't want to stay in the middle of the tourist area. The condo is right next to the Kona Country Club which has to be one of the best golf courses on the island. There are a few beaches nearby and a grocery store less than a mile away. If we ever go back to Kona, I will try to book this condo. less

Great location. Great view.

Great location. Great view. A lot of room, and clean. Very complete condo. A great value for a family vacation. This was my 10th visit to Kona, but my first stay at this condo. I will stay here again in the future.

Perfect Hawaii

Spectacular Hawaii accommodation! Plenty of room for our family of 4. Beautiful grounds, pools and ocean views. Easy walk to the bay and farmer’s market. Peaceful rest each night to energize us for adventures each day.

— Mary, Stayed 04/25/2022

Ocean view super

Very nice condo. It apparently had not had recent visitors since there seemed to be a coating of fine dust over the floors. There also was a lot of very same insects especially in the guest bath. Maybe we should have realized it but was surprised to see the long flight of stairs when we opened the door. Made it difficult for my brother in law with Parkinson’s. View was amazing and pool areas very nice. Great stay. less

Nice Place for a Vacation

Kanaloa is an excellent location with great oceanfront views. It's centrally located near restaurants and shops of Kailua. The unit itself is nicely appointed, however it does only have one king sized bed. The other two sleeping areas have twin beds in each - probably better for kids or people without significant others with who they sleep. The cooking utensils are a bit dated but will suffice if you are not planning to cook very much or often. It also would have been nice to see or have some appropriately placed insect traps or spray. It might keep people from being startled when opening drawers or cupboards. The bathrooms could use a refresh and some cleansers would have been appreciated. Overall, you are paying for the view and the place is comfortable and cleanish. One thing to keep in mind when staying in Kanaloa in general. I've stayed in 5 different units on the property, some oceanfront and others with golf course views. The one thing that all have in common is that they are not handicapped or elderly accessible/friendly. Even the ground floor units that I have rented have stairs to get into the units. I only noticed on this particular trip because two of my family members now have difficulty walking. The stairs were a problem. less

Great spot to enjoy vacation

Mark's place had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The view and sunsets are amazing and the condo property is kept looking beautiful. The grill is right across from the condo outside. It's about 10 minutes to the nearest beach spot with beginner snorkeling (all beaches mostly lava in case you didn't already know so bringwater shoes) and 30 minutes from 2 step (best snorkeling we had, not beginner). My husband loved the firm beds in the condo but I prefer softer. Shower is amazing...all soaps and supplies in condo we wouldnt have had to buy anything even though I had brought toiletries and laundry pods.. AC kept the main areas cool but fans do the rest of the rooms just fine. It was 83-86 while we were there. I have to comment about the girls below us smoking nonstop. It's a strict no smoking property but no one did anything when we complained and they were smoking below us on the balcony...almost 75% of the times we tried to sit on the balcony they would ruin it for us. Except at night they'd be gone most times. Partying? Night shifters? Anyway hope someone addresses that because the lanai is literally amazing. less

Family Vacation

Great views, nice complex, grilling stations, covered parking, three pools and tennis courts in gated condo area. Condo was equipped with kitchen utensils, beach towels and a few pool toys.

— Mark, Stayed 09/02/2021

Outstanding!!!

WOW!!! The pictures of this place are great, but it's so much better in person. The views and sounds of the Pacific are mesmerizing!! We spent a lot of time out of the lanai just relaxing. The condo is very roomy and well appointed. We had everything we needed from shampoo and lotion to beach gear. We didn't use the kitchen much, but you could easily cook anything you desire. The beds were very comfy and the tub in the master bath was a welcome surprise. The grounds at Kanaloa were incredibly beautiful and you could spend your whole vacation here, but it's so convenient to much much more; why would you? We had a very memorable vacation and hope to come back again. Mahalo, Mark for sharing your beautiful home with us less

About As Close As You Can Get

This condo is so close to the ocean that you get to fall asleep while listening to the crashing waves. Mark has also done an outstanding job of stocking this place. There are beach towels, floaties and an ice chest. All items that you would need for a day at the beach. The bathrooms and kitchen were also stocked very nicely. The condo was very comfortable and fit the 4 of us very nicely. There is a grocery store and a Longs Drugs just up the hill and we ate at 3 different restaurants that are all part of the shopping center up the hill. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. less

Super condo, awe-inspiring views!

Having previously stayed at Kanaloa at Kona, we're familiar with many of the units and overall like the property as a whole - 3 pools means one is usually nice and quiet, and the barbecues always work and are kept clean. We were very happy with our stay in Unit 2004 - the condo was very nice, clean and well-stocked, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable visit and more! Not stingy with the bath or pool towels, either. Ocean views available from every room, along with a nice mountain view from the master. The lanai was the wonderful - a ceiling fan was appreciated for warmer days, and the pull-down shades helped tremendously when the sun got a bit too bright and the sea arch in front of the unit added to the spectacular view. We were lucky to see dolphins and humpbacks from the lanai as well. The bed in the master (the only bedroom we used) was firm and felt newer - a big plus as we find a lot of condos have squishy older mattresses. We slept very well and did not wake up with our backs aching. A pretty lime-green Japanese white-eye was building its nest in the tree right outside the bedroom window, what a lovely thing to see each morning. We would definitely stay in 2004 again! less

Hard to Beat Ocean Front View & Condo

Where to start? This is a very nice condo in a very nice condo complex. Everything is nicely laid out, very well maintained, inside and out - buildings, landscaping, pools, etc. We didn't spend much time on the grounds or at the pool but we could have easily enjoyed doing so, the ocean side pool is a perfect place to relax and take in the sun. The complex is quiet, you barely know there are other people around. Unit 2004 has a lanai that feels like you are hanging over the ocean and we spent hours with our friends enjoying it. The condo itself is decorated in Hawaiian theme/decor and has a warm feel. We cooked all our meals here and while the kitchen tools could benefit from a bit of a refresh, we had most everything we needed to prepare meals. Ice maker in fridge works great!. The Master Bedroom is HUGE, has a massive ensuite and good sized walk-in closet. The second bedroom has two twin beds (a large queen might be nice here if you are two couples as we were). There are two single beds int he loft. Open concept kitchen, dining, living area makes condo feel very roomy. This would be a great set up for a family. Lots of room to spread out and everyone can have their space. Location of the complex is great, there is a mall with well equipped grocery store just up the hill. We did some shopping at Costco near airport but could have easily done it all here. There is a small bay just around the corner with great snorkeling. Sunset Manta Ray snorkel cruises leave from the opposite side of the bay - must do event. There is lots to see on the big island but it does involve a fair amount of driving - that said -take the time to explore and see whats available. We would consider booking here again as a couple, with friends or family, hard to beat. less

The view was spectacular, the property was clean and the nights were quiet and peaceful, only the sound of the ocean! Having beach and snorkel equipment was an added bonus! Thank you Mark

Had a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the condo very much. It was a great location for us. We could see the manta diving boats at night from the balcony!!! The front office was super helpful with our tour guide questions and owner was very quick to respond to our email! It was a beautiful property! Everything was great! less

Even Better than Expected

Condo 2004 is not what it is advertised to be......it is even better. The views off the deck are beyond spectacular and are even better than the pictures indicate. Monstrous sunsets are the daily norm here. They are so good it served almost as a disincentive to go out at night because it just wasn't going to get any better than having a glass a wine and looking the splendor from the deck of our own place. The condo itself is spacious and very clean. It also has AC which we came to learn is a huge bonus in Hawaii. Mark is a tremendous host. My wife and I have rented via VRBO and Air BNB several times and Mark's place is better stocked than any we have stayed. The complex itself is also wonderful. Well maintained and the clean. The staff was very helpful and allowed my family to borrow tennis rackets so we could take advantage of the lovely courts. I just can't say enough good things about this place. Mahalo! less

— Dennison, Stayed 08/04/2019

Great view!

The condo Lanai video was perfect! The condo itself was decent. The reason for the 3 stars is the few things we found negative about the condo. The bathtub drain plug didn't work so couldn't use the bathtub which really sucks because on if the other main reasons for renting this condo. We love our baths. The floors throughout were dirty had tons of dust and dirt etc... This want a huge deal to me, but for the cleaning fee we paid and high owner fees I expected it to be in top shape. The downstairs guest room ceiling fan and light didn't work which sucked, but with the air running not a huge deal. The owner did end up sending over a local friend of his to try and fix the couple issues, but unfortunately the only thing that got fixed was the light in guest room. This was due to needing to get a plumber and electrician to come in and take things apart and since it took couple of days for him to come check out things we were leaving next day. I appreciated him coming by to try though. I would have like an apology and maybe a small refund for all the issues we had, but no biggy. As an owner I would have refunded the cleaning at least though. Overall it was a decent place to stay we enjoyed having some left over condiments and the welcome tote that came in handy. The view was amazing and super relaxing. I would come here again if the place was in better shape next time and clean and things working properly. Very nice people. Located near lots of shopping and restaurants. less

May 30-June 8th 2019

We travel to Hawaii at least once a year and always find a condo. We like checking out different areas, but have usually stayed in Waikoloa when on the Big Island. I had 4 teenagers with me this year. Three very active boys! I chose the Kanoloa 2004 based on location and price point. Upon arrival, we were all instantly surprised. The view as you walk in to the unit is amazing. You are literally on the water and it is beautiful. The condo was in very good condition and very clean. None of the "obviously this needs updating" feeling at all. There were several books/magazines for things to do on the Big Island. The kitchen had everything down to an osterizer for morning smoothies. A starter amount of oil/salts/spices/sugar/dish soap/paper towels... much appreciated. We always try to leave a little more than we came in with. Plenty of windows for ventilation, fans to move air and air conditioning that got us a little cold one night! We ARE from Tucson! Location is great and close to great snorkeling at the black sand beach next to the complex. Magic sands beach is great for boogie boarding and close. The night manta ray dive site is right next door at the Sheraton. Surfing was poor the week we were there but all close. Cliff jumping within walking distance south of the Sheraton. The Kanaloa at Kona complex is well manicured and quite with 3 clean pool areas and covered parking for guests. The Keauhou shopping center was within walking distance for groceries and has a great pizza/pasta restaurant and place for shaved ice. All just a 5-6 mile drive to the main hub of Kona. We truly had an amazing trip and this condo was perfect for us. It is an upstairs unit for those that don't like stairs... but we did not mind at all. We would definitely choose to stay here again. less

Outstanding Condo and Experience

Mark's little slice of heaven was an absolute treat for our family. Getting into the condo was very easy and perfectly explained. Upon entering the condo the entire family had their jaws on the floor. The view of the ocean was outstanding not just from the deck but from all of the beautiful windows as well. The condo itself was in great shape. Everything was clean, updated and in overall great condition. Everything we needed was provided to make for many great days cooking, hitting the beach and playing in the beautiful ocean view pool. We even had a few questions while we were there and Mark and his team were all over it right away. This is a true gem and deserving of the 5 starts. If I have to dig for one criticism it would be a need for a sharper chef's knife in the kitchen but that is it. We will plan on looking to book here again. less

— John, Stayed 03/25/2019

Best. View. EVER!

Everything about this place was great. Location was very close to restaurants and grocery store. Condo complex had tennis courts, a nice clubhouse, and fabulous pools (including the "ocean pool" with a really nice ocean view). The condo itself was spacious for our family of 5, especially the master bed/bath. The coolers and boogie boards and beach chairs were also a great convenience for our many days at the various beaches on the island. But the main reason we will come back is because the view from the spacious balcony is simply amazing! The way this particular condo juts out and sits just above the black rocks, all while providing a full 180 degree unobstructed view of the ocean was GREAT! The sunsets were incredible. We could even hear the crashing ocean waves in the master bedroom on the opposite side of the condo with all the windows closed. We'll definitely stay here the next time we visit the Big Island. less

— Jeff, Stayed 01/07/2019

Worth it for the view

This condo is a bit out of Kona for our preference but that's the only negative. The lanai is just above the water and we loved the sound of crashing waves. On our last day we saw whales breaching. Spinner dolphins and boats were daily entertainment. The condo is spacious and well equiped for a family of 6. The dryer was not working but the owner offered us the use of a dryer in another unit for our stay so we were set..Central air conditioning was an added plus and worked well. less

Kona Visit

Excellent instructions and easy first entry. The condo overlooks the ocean with a large balcony and lots of seating. The condo was nicely furnished and contemporary with a Hawaiian theme. The kitchen was very well equipped with all you need to cook for your group. The place was clean and had all the supplies you need. Excellent all around and would recommend the unit for a group of 4 to 6. Ron less

Awesome

Wonderful Vacation rental.Mark has everything you and your family need for fun and relaxing. We enjoyed the lanai every morning with our coffee and the almost adults in our party enjoyed it at night to discuss navigating the real world! Mark was very accessible to reach especially since we were trying to get over to the island during the recent hurricane. We are excited to return so we can see the Hilo side of the island and would definitely rent the property again. Thankyou for a fantastic time! less

Fabulous location and amenities

Our family of six stayed eight nights in condo 2004 at Kanaloa. Upon arrival, were immediately impressed by the deck overlooking the ocean. This was our first time to Hawaii, and we couldn’t have chosen better accommodations! Every room had sounds from the ocean gently in the background. The condo was clean, well stocked, and just as described on the website. The owner was easy to contact when needed. Our four kids appreciated each having their own beds, and we appreciated all the thoughtful inclusions such as binoculars for enjoying the view, a cooler for packing picnics, and beach/pool items. The kitchen has been updated and included all items necessary for meal preparations. We did not hear any of the adjoining neighbors. The Kanaloa grounds include covered parking, outdoor grills, and three beautiful pools. It is located away from busy traffic, but it is also convenient to access all nearby attractions. We would love to stay in the exact same condo the next time we are able to make it to Hawaii! less

Fantastic stay!

We had a wonderful two-week stay. The condo was very clean, well-appointed with everything you could require for your visit. We were most comfortable and the view from the lanai is "to die for". The complex is just gorgeous with lush vegetation, many colorful birds, 3 pools, a library and the staff who work there are very friendly, helpful and kind. It is situated quite nicely to access town and a small shopping center just up the hill where there is a KTA food market, Long's Drugs, bars, restaurants, etc. Mark is wonderful to work with and responds very quickly to any question or concern you might have. We recommend this unit with the highest regard. You will not be disappointed. less

Location, location, location....

This condo has the best view of the water, can hear the ocean even from the back bedrooms. We have stayed in several condos at Kanaloa, so, have a comparison perspective. Here are a few suggestions to bring it to a 5 star place. The pans and kitchen utensils were outdated, very little spices or condiments to cook with, had to purchase basics like spices, sugar, Kleenex, and extra dishwashing soap. The beds were quite firm, not as comfortable as we enjoy. Adding an extra pillow top mattress pad might be helpful. The location was the best part of our stay, spent most of the time on the lanai watching dolphins and crashing waves. less

— John, Stayed 05/16/2017

Nice Unit

We have stayed at this resort several times over the years, in a different unit each time. Unit 2004 is nicely furnished and equipped - not luxurious, but certainly comfortable. The view from the lanai is spectacular. The unit is ideal for a family, since there are four twin-sized beds, and the hardwood floors are easy to keep clean. We particularly appreciated the strong wi-if signal throughout the unit, since we had to bring work along, and it was easy to stay in touch with our offices. The owner was easy to deal with and responsive. less

Sunny Kona Shores!

Aloha, 5 of us stayed in luxury at Kanaloa #2004. There was even an extra bed and a spacious living room if we had more in our party. The house is updated with current fixtures. All appliances worked well. The 2nd floor deck overlooked the spectacular, rugged Kona coast. We spent every evening relaxing around the deck table with drinks, watching another amazing sunset take shape. The location is quite convenient to groceries and restaurants, and far enough removed from downtown Kona that you aren't stuck in traffic. Kanaloa has three great swimming pools to choose from, hot tubs and ping pong! less

Kanaloa at Kona

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kanaloa2004. Mark was easy to work with and prompt in his keeping us informed. The grounds in this complex are plush and the pools pristine. It's an ideal location - perhaps the best on the island - quiet except for the pleasant sounds of the waves lolling us to sleep each night. The view is spectacular, especially the sunsets. Shopping, beaches and restaurants are only minutes away. If we return to Kona, we will certainly stay at Kanaloa at Kona. Mahalo, Mark less

Best Kanaloa unit we stayed in for the past 30 years

We have been coming to Kanaloa for 30 years. 2004 is by far the best unit we have stayed in. Great location, amazing waves, and lots of privacy. The unit is nicely decorated and has all the comforts of home. Will definitely come back!

Great view and spacious condo

Spent 7 nights in this spacious condo. Layout is good and you can hear waves crashing all day and night. Gorgeous sunsets from the lanai. Property is very quiet and rarely heard anyone else in the building. Washer and dryer great to have In the unit and was a requirement when searching for a place to rent. AC very efficient. Our boys enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai, swimming in the pools, and snorkeling close by. We also visited the beaches all over the island. Would definitely stay here again. One item to note: there was construction being done in the unit below for most of our stay, which didn't bother us too much since we were gone most days. But they did run a saw and other tools until about 5pm. less

Large accomadation by the ocean

Wonderful accommodation, right on the edge of the ocean. This condo has everything needed for a trouble free, relaxing stay. Comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen and lots of space for a family. Trouble free booking and a quick response to any questions. I would be happy to recommend this condo to anyone looking for expansive accommodation on the coast, not to far from Kona by vehicle. Walking distance to a lovely little shopping area and a good swimming beach and cafe. Thanks for a great holiday. less

Great condo and great location

This was exactly as promised. A nicely appointed, spacious condo right on the edge of the ocean. The location was great, accessible to everything on the island. The pool was nice for our youngest child when he got a bit tired of the wave action at the beaches. If we go back to Kona we would certainly stay here again. less

Spacious unit

December 2015 our party of four adults spent two restful weeks in this large and comfy unit -- with much of our time lounging on the ocean-facing lanai. The extra $ spent for AC was well worth it as Kona was hot, even in winter. The kitchen of 2004 was well equipped, though most items have seen a lot of use. We appreciated the availabity of the misc snorkeling and beach gear. There were a few maintenance issues which we brought to the attention of the responsive locally-based staff. We love Kanaloa and will be back. less

Groovy stay in Kona

Our first trip to the big island and it was a blast!! After spending a few days in Volcano, the family headed to the Kona Coast. This condo at Kanaloa was fantastic, the light rain showers and surf were a soothing lullaby at night. Peaceful, awesome sunsets, fabulous amenities, and lots of space to spread out. We were able to find several snorkel and swim beaches nearby, as well as day trips south to Hookipa and up north to Hapuna where we swam with sea turtles. Minutes away, the small hamlet of Kona was great for food, shopping, souvenirs, and tattoos. The owner and property manager were responsive to our requests. We plan to head back to the big island and hope to rent this condo again. Mahalo, Sands Ohana less
