This is a privately owned home and guests are renting directly from the homeowners whose company name is Vacation Realty Hawaii LLC (as will appear on your credit card statement).   Therefore your reservation is non-transferable between other properties.

Amenities provided by third-party vendors (for example utility companies or subcontractors) are beyond our control.  We do our best to provide services such as cable television, internet, and resort telephones.  Should these be unavailable for part or all of your stay we will do our best to help restore services, but ultimately cannot be held responsible.  Should you absolutely require internet access we recommend you make arrangement for these services through a cell phone company.  We also cannot be responsible for the association amenities and their functions or availability.

 

A $250 security deposit is required with this reservation and we will process a credit card authorization in that amount 7 days prior to your arrival. A charge may result for damage to the home, missing contents or for exceeding the number of overnight guests stated at booking.

 

The initial reservation deposit is nonrefundable and non-transferable between properties; however if cancellation is made more than 90 days prior to the check-in date, the full initial reservation deposit may be applied to a new reservation in the same home beginning anytime up to one year from the original check-in date (subject to availability).

Full payment of the rental balance due is required 30 days prior to the check-in date.

Check-in time is 3PM and check-out time is 10AM.  Please plan your arrival and departures times accordingly.  Guests will be charged $50/hour for occupying the condo any time past their scheduled check-out time.   An early check-in time or a late check-out time may be available for a fee.

Cancellation made after the rental balance due payment is made or within 30 days of the check-in date results in loss of all payments.

A maximum of 6 guests may occupy a 3 bedroom unit for the regular nightly rate.   $15 per additional guest over the normal occupancy number is charged per day (any more than the 6 guest who can sleep in the beds) for those units that have additional accommodations.  This charge covers our additional expenses in laundry, electricity, and the setting-up/breaking-down of sleeper sofas or air mattresses.  Guests are obligated to disclose the actual number of occupants prior to arrival.

At no time should any one sleep on sofas other than sleeper sofas that are opened up and have sheets on them.

A pack-n-play and a high chair are available at no extra charge but must be requested via email to alohacondos@vacationrealtyhawaii.com at the time of booking or within 72 hours prior to arrival. If more than one pack-n-play or high chair is required, the second one is the guest’s responsibility to lease from a private rental company. 


Stays of more than 10 days have additional mandatory interim-cleaning.  For example if you stay for 11 nights you would have an interim and a final outclean.  If you stay for 21 nights you would have two interim cleans and one outclean.

Cleaning fees are based on a 5 hour clean.  If the condo is left excessively messy and it can’t be made rent-ready in 5 hours, guests will be charged $37.50/hr for the additional cleaning.

We do our very best to have the units clean and in proper working order for your arrival.  Should there be any cleaning or maintenance problems please call your on-island contact at your first opportunity.  We require the opportunity to rectify any problems and will do so in a reasonable amount of time.

SUNTAN LOTIONS, AFTER-SUN LOTIONS AND RELATED PRODUCTS LEAVE BLEACH-LIKE STAINS IN FABRICS.  PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH OUR UPHOLSTERY AND BEDSPREADS.  We use white towels and white sheets for this reason, but it is not practical to have white sofas and bedspreads.  Please shower before getting into bed, and please sit on a towel if you have sun products on your skin and you want to sit on the upholstery.  Wash hands thoroughly after applying sun products to avoid accidentally damaging fabrics.  Guests are responsible for damage to linens and upholstery from products they use.    There is a $25 charge for a ruined towel. 

Smoking is strictly prohibited in the home  and doing so will result in full loss of security deposit. 

 We provide sheets for each bed and two bath towels per stated guest.  There is no daily maid service, but you are welcome to use the washer/dryer in the unit. If you have an interim clean included with your reservation we will launder the linens during the clean.

We also provide a reasonable amount of amenities such as toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, soaps and detergents for your use.  Should you run out, you are responsible for purchasing additional products for the duration of your stay, unless you have an interim clean at which time we will replenish those supplies.

Please make sure that all keys, towels and remotes are left behind at the condo when you depart. We charge a $75.00 replacement fee for each lost key and a $100 replacement fee for a lost garage door remote.  Generally these are lost because they are left in the rental car, so please check your car carefully before you leave for the airport.

Keep indoor furniture indoors, and outdoor furniture outdoors.  There is a $50 fee if furniture needs to be moved back to its original place upon your departure.  For example, if you move a large glass table, the management company will have to hire someone to go help the housekeeper put it back.

No pets of any kind are allowed.

The illegal presence, possession or use of non-prescription drugs or other controlled substances is not permitted anywhere on the premises


GUESTS ARE RESPONSILBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE HOUSE RULES OF Poipu Kai Association.  Violation of the rules can result in fines, and guests are responsible for paying those fines. 

Hurricane, Tsunami or Storm Policy: No refund will be given unless a mandatory evacuation order has been given by the National Weather Service for Poipu and the surrounding area.  In the event a mandatory evacuation order is issued we will refund unused portions of rent of a guest currently occupying the property and any advanced rents or deposits collected for a guest that is scheduled to arrive during the evacuation period.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in the home, on the home lanai or in the pool area.  Smoking in these areas will result in full loss of security deposit.

No pets of any kind are allowed other than registered service animals.

We all thought the home was excellent! The kitchen is well equipped (the best we have experienced), the towels, beach equipment...all much more than we expected! We loved the area and definitely want to return again. thanks very much, Inga

Wonderful house and great location

We had a multi-generational family stay at the Poipu Kai Resort Home. It was extremely well equipped. The kitchen was new and was well stocked. The garage had every conceivable beach accessory. The reason that I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is not air conditioned. I should have checked, but I truly assumed that a single-family house in this location would have air conditioning. It was warm in Kauai, and in the afternoons in the house, it was uncomfortable until later in the evening. Persons interested in the house should be aware of this. Otherwise, it was a truly wonderful stay for us.

The location as you mentioned is walking distance to pristine beaches, resort greenbelt and close to golf, tennis, shopping and hiking.

This single family home, as so many others on the island of Kauai is equipped with ceiling fans and jalousie windows which provide natural cooling.  As the home does not have AC - this is reflected on the website description in the listing as we understand this may be desired by some guests.   Most of the time there are trade breezes which helps with the cooling as you open up the windows and utilize the ceiling fans which makes for a true tropical experience.  We do not seem to get complaints about this but we strive to make sure guests are aware when booking.

This house could be much nicer if maintained better

This house is located in an excellent location halfway between Shipwreck Beach and Brennecke's Beach. While the house in general was nice and the remodel of the kitchen and master bedroom were nice, there were some long-term maintenance issues which should be addressed. Several of the walls throughout the house and the ceiling downstairs needed to be repainted. The baseboards and stairway banister were dirty. A window frame in the master bathroom was broken and falling apart. The living room furniture was old and ratty and falling apart. The outside of the refrigerator was gross, and the ice maker portion was covered in mold on the outside. There is also a broken tile in the middle of the master bathroom floor which has sharp pieces sticking up and could cut the bottom of someone's foot. The sheet and mattress pad on the master bed had no elastic left and every night came off the corners of the bed. If we are going to be charged for every single item which is not kept in perfect condition (as stated in your rules), then the items should start out in perfect condition and not be well used and worn out.

Thank you for your feedback.  We are very sorry you were not completely happy with your stay at our vacation home in Kauai.  We make every effort to insure each guest is happy with their stay and that the home offers an aloha experience.  

The home is always cleaned meticulously and we try to make sure that touch up paint is done when there is luggage or other guest damage to walls. 

To be very clear - with regard to the refrigerator - there is a small amount of rust under the outside of the drip tray of the water dispenser (not at all unusual in tropical climates) and never touches the water itself. There is no mold whatsoever.  Regardless, we have purchased new kitchen appliances that we anticipate will be in the home mid-May 2018. 

The bathroom window, although secure, is being replaced April 8, 2018.  In addition, new living room furniture has been special ordered and is in transit. 

Inherent in the experience in Hawaii are the issues of tropical climates, high moisture contents and our beloved red soil of Kauai.  Add to that the home has plantation jalousie windows that can open to the outside for trade breezes.  This can create challenges to keeping the baseboards dusted.

All said we do our very best to strive to make sure the home is pleasant and accommodating for all our guests.  Mahalo for your stay.

We loved our stay in Hale Pono Poipu, it was absolutely amazing! The kitchen is big, the house is clean and has alote of space. We were two families and it was just perfect. We could walk to the beach, had everything we needed and even more! We ran out of gaz for the BBQ and it was filled within the day! I would recommend this house to anyone and I hope to come back as soon as possible!

We stayed in the above home for 4 nights, and given the time of year and accommodations of providing for 3 of us, the home met our basic needs. The house is functionally furnished, with decor designed for sustaining long term minimal wear and tear.

The single standout deterrent to our stay was the 4 page list of house rules. I have been to Poipu in various living capacities and have to say that either the owners perhaps previously experienced some serious damage, or they are not, despite the rewards as beneficiaries of ownership, entirely comfortable with renting their home. As a homeowner, along with owning rental property, affixing a $250 security charge along with providing to prospective tenants a four page list of potential fines for lost towels, moving furniture etc, as well as basement signs posting fines in the event of forgetting designated trash pickups is quite discouraging, especially where Kauai visitors are extolled in general to follow a "aloha" spirit. So for four days we were there I was always looking over my shoulder, even to the point of our not using the remote garage opener as there were problems closing it when we originally arrived. Needless to say, this voluminous set of rules was a new experience for us given previous rentals of condominium in Poipu.

Sections of the house-- blinds, sliding screen doors, are in disrepair, a surprise given the fastidious formal attention to caution, breakage, lost items.

So in general, my advice to the owners (and the management company encouraging these prescriptions) is to either presume your clients are adults and entrust them to have reasonable discretion as they enjoy their vacation, or provide onsite screening before renting.

We have been offering our Hawaiian home for vacation accommodations for over 20 years and strive very hard to provide an Aloha Hawaiian experience for our guests.  During those 20 years, we have experienced wonderful guests that always love the home. 

The management company, Vacation Realty Hawaii, LLC manages over 48 properties on Kauai ranging from one bedroom condos to 4 bedroom luxury homes.  They take pride in offering professional and careful service to vacation guests.  Each property is unique and they have homeowner association and neighborhood guidelines and rules that differ slightly but all are in place to insure a wonderful stay for everyone.  Insuring that rubbish is not left in the home or that items do not go missing is not unique to our vacation rental, and especially in tropical climates - help from guests in preventing pests and costly repairs is commonplace. 

Also, a security deposit of 250.00 for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home is not excessive or unusual in any way.  We am very sorry you felt constrained by the guidelines and suggestions which accompanied all confirmations from the reservation site www.alohacondos.com . The very reasonable House Rules are placed there to provide information about the properties and make your stay more enjoyable. 

Thank you for bringing to our attention the screen doors which have since been replaced.

A good home base

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this 3 bedroom / 3 bath vacation home in Poipu for 4 adults and 1 teenager. It has plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was a nice size, great for cooking in. The living room and Lanai have an awesome view of the ocean.

The upper bedroom/bathroom and one of the downstair bedroom/bathroom have been remodeled; great rooms. However the last bedroom/bathroom has not been remodel and the toilet room smells like urine. The bedroom smelled moldy ( I have a sensitive nose). The vacation home company was responsive when I reported this issue and they sent someone out to clean the toilet room the next day.

Great location, a 10 minute walk to the beach. Overall a good home base for all our activities in Kauai

We are glad that you did call us about the concern in one of the bathroom as we certainly want to address any concerns in a timely manner to assure you have a wonderful stay with us.   We do take any concerns seriously that the guests might have and our staff does spend longer than average on each rental preparing it for the next guest.  The house cleaners do meticulously clean the bathrooms and disinfect them with each clean.

 

We read that you felt that one bathroom had not been as updated as the other, however the upgrades in each bathroom are relative to each other throughout the home.

 

 

This home with the beaches very close by, in walking distance as you noted is a great place to spend your Kauai vacation and we hope you can come again soon!

The house on Linaka Rd was in a fantastic location and the best part was the upstairs lanai with great views of the ocean and a great breeze. Would be better with updated appliances.

Although the appliances have not been updated real recently, the kitchen is a more upgraded space and done beautifully and everthing is functional, well stocked and serve all that one needs.

We booked this home as a last minute option for our family to stay as opposed to staying at the Grand Hyatt next door as my husband had a conference there. I am so glad we stayed in the Hale Pono home and it happened to be available for our stay. It was nice and clean and was spacious for our family of 4 to have more room and spread out as opposed to a hotel room. The home was well stocked in the kitchen as well as lots of beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, beach toys, etc. There is no AC but it did get cool at night and felt very comfortable - a nice breeze would come through and we even had to cover up with the heavier blankets - during the day it would get a bit warmer but we weren't there much as we were at the beach or out exploring so it wasn't really an issue. We especially loved the very large lanai with our own grill. It was wonderful to sit out there in the mornings with coffee and great to come home to in the evenings. There's a slight view of the ocean too! The home is a bit older but it was unique and felt more of an island home - although very clean, comfortable (the beds were comfortable too) and the kitchen was nice and updated. I would stay here again and recommend for families and/or couples/groups. There are many restaurant options and a grocery store very close by. The only thing I would suggest would be a new hammock in the yard (as it looks like it has seen better days) but that's certainly not a huge deal. We enjoyed our stay at Hale Pono!

This was a great house for our 3 night stay on Kauai. We loved the location, the house met and exceeded all expectations, the balcony off the kitchen was a great space for enjoying the sunrise with a cup of coffee and the property managers responded to questions promptly. The extra supplies of beach gear was very much appreciated. I would certainly recommend this house and would stay here again!

We had a great stay, the people managing the property were great to deal with and we will definitely stay here again. This house is fully stocked right down to a blender and an amazing amount of beach gear. The house has a lot of space and has an amazing layout. We loved it.

It could use a good deep clean and new pans in the kitchen.

Thank you so much for your review after your stay at Hale Pono in Poipu.  We are so glad you found the house well stocked and accommodating.  It does make it nice too to have the extra beach gear instead of having to rent it.  The owners have placed brand new Comfort Tech Serene 13inch Plus Premium memory foam mattresses in the bedrooms!  In addition, all cookware has been replaced with new, non-toxic, professional quality, Ceramic GreenLife Gourmet which is now stocked in the kitchen.

Could be 5 stars with a few fixes

This is a great house, so I'll start with the good. It's in a great location with an easy 10 min walk to Hyatt/Shipwrecks beach and the pool. Just a few minutes past the pool to Poipu beach. There is a lot of beach stuff in the garage and nice, big beach towels to use. Some toiletries are provided along with hand and dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, etc. The upstairs can get warm on hot days, but there are ceiling fans and tower fans provided too. The house was immaculate.

All that said, here are our few complaints about the place, that could easily be fixed.-One room needs a new towel bar or some hooks. Right now there's just a damaged wall, where one used to hang and nowhere to put towels. -The washer stops mid-cycle and you have to open the lid and mess with settings to get it going again (we contacted them about this). -A new set of pans would be great, as there wasn't one pan that wasn't horribly warped or scratched up. -The bbq needs new burners or to be replaced all-together. -The sprinklers ran twice a day while we were there (totally not necessary) and the water turning on and off is loud enough to wake adults and kids alike- especially in the room next to the garage.-Lastly, there is a water leak from the master into the mermaid room below it. We had to contact them after a piece of water-logged ceiling fell. We ended up with a dehumidifier in the room to deal with it until our stay was up.

Over all we had a great stay and would stay here again, if a few small improvements were made.

The owner came shortly after your visit and our crew had been in there making some improvements as well.  Since your stay, the owner's have replaced the queen and king beds with brand new memory foam mattresses.  They put new light fixtures in all the bedrooms as well as in the kitchen over the sink and over the kitchen island.  They bought new pots and pans as well as greenware.  They did buy a brand new BBQ grill too.  All the other repairs that you did mention have also been taken care of.

Home in Poipu

We very much enjoyed our two-week home in Poipu. It was comfortable, well-equipped, three bedrooms (all with their own bathrooms and showers), a large modern kitchen with everything we needed (including a nice stash of spices and basic kitchen essentials), and a washer/dryer. Unlike many condos we've stayed in, they even provided dish soap, paper towels, and laundry soap. They also have all the beach equipment you could possibly wish for in the garage and provide large beach towels (so you don't have to pack them).

The one thing we could have asked for would be air conditioning as it was very hot during our time there - but we'd been warned that there was none. Also the pool available to us was a good deal further away from the condo than indicated. However, if you play tennis, there's a court across the street!

This is a lovely home on a quiet residential street. Three roomy bedrooms, three bathrooms and all the amenities you could ask for, a full kitchen, washer, dryer, two car garage, second floor lanai with great views, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, etc etc. There is a community pool and tennis courts and Poipu Beach is nearby as well as restaurants, grocery stores and activities.

The home was so beautiful and the owners pay so much attention to detail. There is literally everything you need in the home. The location is good, in walking distance to the ocean front, although you need to walk a little farther to reach an ocean you can actually swim in. Poipu shopping village is very close and has a lot of shops and restaurants. The only downside is that the bedrooms downstairs don't have a lot of windows and it gets very hot and stuffy. There are ceiling fans and a floor fan but it still isn't enough. The upstairs bedroom had a nice breeze at night. The mattresses were also quite firm which might make it hard to sleep for some people. Overall very nice house and great location.

Our family of eight stayed here for a week. It was fantastic! The home is very comfortable and enjoyable to stay in. Indoors, it is clean, attractively painted and decorated, and well-stocked with nice dishes, silverware and appliances. Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own shower, double sinks, and toilet. There are ceiling fans and vented windows that allow a nice breeze to flow throughout the upstairs, so there really is no need for air conditioning. Frankly, we liked the natural cooling better than A/C. Outdoors, the yard is large and private, with a hammock that the kids loved! There are two decks, one off the kitchen and a private one off the master bedroom. The community pool is nice, and only a pleasant several-minute walk away. As far as location goes, it is perfect. The walk to Poipu Beach is maybe 12-15 minutes, and in the other direction you can enjoy a stroll through the Grand Hyatt resort to Shipwreck Beach. The resort area where the home is located is lovely.

We loved the well-outfitted open kitchen, comfortable bedding, heavy beach towels, barbecue, big deck with outdoor seating, swimming supplies and working appliances. We cooked the majority of our dinners at the house and were grateful to have such a wonderful kitchen in which to work. The house was lovely for our family of eight: two teenagers slept on the pull out bed every night and didn’t have any complaints. The coffee supply when we arrived was appreciated since we arrived late at night, went right to bed and definitely needed a pot to get us going in the a.m. The location was a perfect launching spot for visiting all sides of Kauai, we left in the mid-morning and still had time to hit the beach and community pool before dinner.

We did not want to leave Hale Pono! The location was within easy walking distance from Shipwreck Beach and Poipu Beach. On Poipu Beach, we had a monk seal and a huge turtle come up on land to sun within 20 yards of where we were sitting. Listening to the ocean and palm trees swaying at night were so very peaceful. The house was stocked with any need you can imagine, plus more! Great place, wonderful stay, would definitely recommend this home and hope to stay here again. Thank you for a great stay!

We were very comfortable in this lovely home with beautiful ocean and mountain views. The kitchen was well supplied, better than any other home we've stayed in, and the furniture comfortable. No air conditioning but plenty of breezes and fans. It was an easy walk to the community pool and the beach. We appreciated the port-a-crib for our granddaughter, the convenience of washer and dryer and the supply of beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, tote bags, etc.

Perfect House for a large group

Our group had a wonderful time.The location of the home was terrific. It was near good restaurants, shopping for necessities, and Lappert's ice cream! One member of our group enjoyed the morning walks to the nearby beaches.The home itself contained all the amenities we required for a great vacation. We loved the large open kitchen, the lanai and grounds. The grill was in excellent condition and had a great evening of grilled ribs and chicken.Sleeping quarters were comfortable and clean. The only oddities were the unusually tiny airplane sized toilet closets. But the shower areas were perfect.If we have a large group heading back to Kauai in the future we would definitely like to stay at Hale Pono again.

Relaxing week in Kauai

Thank you so much for such a relaxing week in Kauai with my family. The house was perfectly located in Poipu, it was easy to walk to the beach, we enjoyed having dinner on the patio and it was so close to restaurants, stores and other sites to see. We enjoyed everything about the house, it was supplied with everything that we needed in the kitchen, all the beach equipment was great for our kids and since there was multiple families sharing the house we thought that it was great that each room had their own private bathroom. We had such a great time that we are already planning our next stay here.

Our first visit to Kauai was incredible, largely because we stayed in this beautiful house. It is full of amenities and fun extras like boogie boards, snorkel gear, sun umbrellas, and beach chairs. All of the equipment is in great shape and we used it happily. The house is clean, open and light, and the deck off the kitchen is perfect for enjoying every meal.

We definitely plan on returning to the island, and would love to stay at this home again!

We loved our stay in this condo!. Great location in a nice complex close to Kona. The condo is well equipped and clean. Nothing is missing in the kitchen. The beds are very comfortable. We loved sitting on the lanai and listening to the birds having a wonderful view on the mountains. There is a second lanai where you can see a liitle bit of the ocean. Even though it is a really long way from Germany we want to come back to this beautiful island and this great condo.

The home was so well prepared when we arrived with new or updated furnishings, towels, bedding. The bathrooms and kitchen seemed all new. There were more beach toys than we could use for my family of 6 children ages 9-19! The laundry was a lifesaver. It is soooo nice to have a real home to stay in with your own garage and yard. The kitchen was completely stocked including paper products, cleaning products, etc. Eating dinner on the second level lanai was special. The only drawback was not having A/C at this time of year, kind of warm, so we had all the windows open 24/7, but that required sleeping with earplugs in since we were close to a road with noise outside. Also, the master bed could be a softer mattress - it was too firm, reminded me of Mexican mattresses. Otherwise, we were real happy with it.

We spent a wonderful week at the Hale Pono, Poipu. The kitchen was spacious and the lanai had a nice ocean view. We appreciated the many amenities that were included in our stay (beach towels, boogie boards, sand toys, and a cooler). Our group consisted of two small families and the walk to the beach was easy for everyone. We would definitely stay there again!
