beautiful Honolulu
We stayed about two weeks in this condo and everything about it was great: the view of the marina and beach from each room, the Hawaiian style decorations and furniture, the well equiped kitchen. The location is good, bus transportation is nearby and Waikiki beach and downtown are in walking distance. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from. The information and pictures we received before making a booking were informative and precise. We would strongly recommend this rental to any friend.

Fantastic Condo - very clean, well equipped and excellent locati
My friend and I had the pleasure of staying in apartment 1590 recently for one week. Kat, who it was organised through was extremely professional, very proactive and had provided us with all the information we needed. Arrival was so easy and well explained by Kat and we were so impressed with the spectacular sunset view from the lanai. Yes, it is small, but that was expected due to previous comments we had read. My friend found the queen size bed extremely comfortable in the room and I found the sofa queen bed really comfortable for me too. For us this apartment was ideal as we had wanted two separate sleeping areas, a nice view and we wanted a place not too far from Waikiki action- though not amongst the hustle and bustle either. This was perfect. We were able to do 15 minute power walks along the beach to get into Waikiki Beach, though had the option on a $7 cab ride in if we wanted to as well... We will definitely be recommending this apartment to friends. Thank you Kat for being so efficient also...

More than perfacy place to stay~~^^
We stayed llikai Marina Condo 1188 for 4 days, last week. They had all we need for a vacation. Condo was really clean and the all the kichen equipment was perfactly prepared. They even had a rice cooker. They had ocean front view and it was awesome. You can see the beach and the harbor from the terras. It's really beautiful. You can see the sun rising, sun set in the room also.The bed was so comfortable and big enough for two kids can sleep.(king size) They had one snokel gear and two boards(one of them was broken..though^^), a lot of sand toys, two beach chairs and a large bagto carry beach stuffs. Ala moana shopping mall is walking distance from the condo(takes only 10 minutes) and there is Mc.Donalds and aBC store just across the street. You can sweam at the llikai hotel pool for free. They have laundry on the 8th floor which cost $2 dollars. We had really pleasant stay and hope to visit this unit again. Thanks for everything Gary and Mary, you were wonderful and kind.

Very nice location and nice rooms
Very nice location with beautiful ocean view, working distance to mall and beach. Kitchen with all kind of table wares fly pans, pot. Microwave, oven and double door refrigerator... Enjoined a lot with family.

A touch of paradise
The Ilikai Marina is well-located with convenient parking, ABC mart for groceries close by, restaurants when one doesn't want to cook, walking paths along the marina, the park, and the lagoon. We had a rental car and, with the exception of the security checks for the apec conference, had no problem getting around in the city. The ala Moana shopping mall is near as is the Hilton Hawaiian Village and several other hotels and businesses. Our condo was great! It was very clean, had a wonderful king-sized bed, lovely furniture, immaculate wood floors, convenient kitchen with a granite countertop, and best of all a front row view of the harbor and ocean; watched the sunsets every evening. Service for parking, parcel deliveries, etc. was excellent. I recommend this residence to a single person or a couple wanting to visit Honolulu with flexibility. We decided to return here on our next visit. Highly satisfied customers.

Wonderful experience
My mother rented this condo for us for our honeymoon and as we had never stayed in a condo before or even been to Hawaii we didn't know what to expect. When we walked in the room it was late at night and the room looked wonderful when we opened the door and the welcome basket was very unexpected but a lovely touch. I have to say the room is very tastefully decorated and has every amenity you could ever want including a jetted tub which my wife made immediate use of. The furniture is of the highest quality and the bed was extremely confortable. When we opened the curtains the next morning the view took our breath away and just added the cherry on top of the cake. It was a treat to sit and watch the boats come and go in the marina and to watch the numerous dragon boats come and go as they practiced out in the ocean. We were thrilled with this condo and would definitely rent it again and recommend it to everyone we meet. It made our honeymoon complete and thank you Chuck for letting us enjoy it.

Ideal location and absolutely wonderful views
My first visit to Hawaii was most definitely enhanced by our stay at Condo 786. Waking up to views across the marina to the ocean was a great way to start each day.Watching the fabulous sunsets from our lanai was a great way to finish the day. A small disadvantage of this western outlook was the sun streaming in during the afternoon necessitating drawing of the curtains. See-through climate control blinds would have been appreciated. Nevertheless, close proximity to beaches and shops of Waikiki, and pickup points (for local and tour buses) made daily activities easy and pleasureable.Our compliments to alice, the local manager,who handled a small maintenance issue with speed and coutesy. Email negotiations and contacts with the owner made the booking arrangements easy and personal.

Excellent Facility
The condo is situated overlooking a beautiful boat harbor. It is very clean and comfortable. It has all the comforts of home. It is close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We had a terrific vacation and would definitely stay here again.

Great family vacation
We really lucked out when we found this condo available for our travel dates. The communication between us and the owners were excellent. When travelling with kids it can be stressfull if you are jammed into a small space but that was not the case with condo 1286. We had plenty of room for us and our two children. The pull out Queen bed was more than enough for them and the privacy sliding door was useful when we wanted to stay up later. The view is incredible! We got there on a Friday so we saw the Friday night fireworks that the Hilton puts on right from our room/lani. Kids loved it! The condo was stocked with everything we needed for the beach along with a cooler which came in handy everyday! There is a laundry service available on the 8th floor which was easy to use and handy to have available espcially when you are swimming in salt water all day everyday. The location was ok, a little far from the main Waikiki strip but there is a bus that you can catch out front and if you don't mind walking then you can get there in about 20 mins along the beach walkway. As for groceries, you would be best going to the Foodland at the ala Moana shopping centre and taking a taxi back if you don't have car. It will only cost you about 7 dollars. You can walk to the mall it's only a 5 mins walk and well worth it! I could go on and on but I won't, If you are looking at renting 1286 I would tell you do it you won't regret it. Very good location and facility
Nice location, few minutes walk to Waikiki beach. The owner actually provided more stuff than showed on website - Beach umbrella, beach chair, safety float and so on. Overall, very good experience staying there.

A great place to relax after a long day
The condo is perfect and has more than enough room for a couple. It may feel a bit cramped with additional people, though. The views are beautiful, and the kitchen is well equipped (although we didn't do much cooking, it was nice to have the option). The bed is also super soft and comfy, and I loved having the ample counter top space in the bathroom. Two minor drawbacks: the shower isn't the most modern, and the lanai is almost nonexistent. Neither of these issues were that bothersome, however. I would definitely stay in this condo again!

“ In addition to the gorgeous views from the balcony, this condo has some real advantages. Oahu has a fantastic bus system extending to all parts of the island. There are so many different bus lines leaving from outside the condo and at the nearby ala Moana Shopping Center that one can visit all parts of the island by easy bus transportation. We went to the Bus Pass Office at 811 Middle Street and got our senior bus pass photo card for $10. This card is good for three years. This card plus a $5 one month's sticker allows unlimited travel all over the island. The condo is in a perfect location for use of buses. The condo was clean, the bed comfortable and we had only a few concerns. There was a lack of certain items like tea kettle, steak knives and place mats for the dining table. We called and they were delivered within a few hours. One concern is the shortage of soap for the dishwasher and bathroom. We were given enough dishwasher soap to use the dishwasher only each 2-3 days. There are not enough dishes to go this long. So, we had to hand wash dishes. Also, there was no Kleenex. We took the Number 42 bus to Costco, walked to Wal-Mart and walked to the Foodland grocery store at ala Moana Shopping Center. Bus 19 and 20 go to the airport. We took buses to the north shore, east shore,Arizona memorial, and zoo. The bus marvelous web site is at www.thebus.org. We enjoyed walking around the small boat harbor, the Hilton lake next door and Magic Island, the peninsula to the right of the condo. Beaches there were very uncrowded compared to Waikiki. ”

Complimentary internet access made trip planning easy from our room. Everything was clean and comfortable which is extremely important to us. But the best part was the view over the marina. Beautiful sunsets! Be sure to get some fresh poke from the Foodland in the ala Moana shopping center, about a 10 minute walk max. Every Friday night, walk directly next door to the lagoon to see amazing fireworks directly over your head! We couldn't have picked a better location. ”

“ The apartment is facing the yacht marina, with 180 degrees ocean view, from waikiki to ala moana beach! Every Friday night, we can see the fireworks (Hilton Fireworks) right from our balcony. We were also very lucky to see two extra excellent fireworks. (don't know why there was fireworks, but who cares, right?) The apartment is fully equipped, with full kitchen appliances (even with a rice cooker!), DVD, TV etc. One electronic appliance we wished to have is a stereo. Another downside is that the wireless is a bit slow and the signal is weak. (no signal in the bedroom) It maybe a bit small if the party is more than 2, for us, it's just perfect size, very cozy, feels just like home. It was also very clean and tidy when we check-in. Though the interim cleaning is a bit expensive ($125), but they certainly did a good job. Check-in and check-out was very smooth. The local contact, Kat, was very helpful. We were able to look at the apartment when we made the reservation, so there was no surprise when we arrived. As our departure flight is at night, She is so kind to let us check-out a few hours later, so we didn't have to worry where to store our huge suitcases. The location is excellent, within walking distance to waikiki and ala moana beach. Escape from the crowd in Waikiki but still able to enjoy the restaurants there, perfect! We went swimming in the ala moana beach, which is only a few minutes walk from the apartment. We took the beach towels (which was provided), and off we went, it's like having the beach on site! Parking was not a problem. There were a few metered parking spots in front which charges $8 for whole night parking. I would certainly recommend this apartment and would want to stay there again if I get a chance. ”

“ The condo was beautiful and spacious and the value was good, too. Only the balcony was too small, but we were very happy that there was one. We liked the garage that was adjacent to our condo, so we had peace of mind when we rented a car. The fact that we had a double bed instead of a queen bed was not an issue for us. We would recommend though that the bathtub and the shower head need to be changed as they are very old and they show it. We liked that there was a phone in the condo, so it was convenient for us to book our trips. The kitchen was so well equipped that we were able to take our breakfast in our condo. We were a bit annoyed though every morning by the noise that was coming from the street in front of the marina despite the fact we were on the 15th floor. The condo was clean, but I was a bit disappointed when I tried to move the bed a little and the carpet under the bed looked like it was never vacuumed. The check-in was pretty adventurous, as I happened to check-in alone since my husband went directly from the airport to the conference, so it was not an easy thing for me to do with all the luggage and the papers in hand reading how to find the key. Of course, I managed to get to our condo and find the key in the locker on the door and I felt very proud. The location was very good as we were just in front of the marina and the view from our condo was amazing. The only disadvantage was that it was located on the far end of the Waikiki Beach area and we had to walk a lot each time we wanted to go where the action was. It was good as an exercise, but in the evening when I was wearing high heels, my feet complained a lot. The service was excellent as we received all the emails with all the instructions on time and there were no misunderstandings or hidden fees, etc. Generally, what we liked best was the ocean view from our condo and what we liked least was the very old bathtub and shower head. We would definitely recommend this vacation rental to anyone. ”

Also nice to have internet access for work. The location was a very short walk to the west end of Waikiki Beach or a short walk to ala Moana Park (or ala Moana shopping mall). So in the middle of a lot, but quieter than the middle of Waikiki. My only suggestion for improvement is the bathroom, it is outdated and the florescent light is harsh. But it is clean and perfectly functional. I would definitely stay there again. ”

It is on the "quieter" end of Waikiki and you will have to drive to get to the busier parts of the beach (e.g. Duke's), but for a family with two young children, that was just fine with us! My only complaints are that the building is clearly in the middle of a renovation, as the halls were bare and the carpet in the halls was pretty filthy. Also, the shower seemed a little dated and sketchy, and the sheets on the bed were really scratchy. Aside from that, the rest of the condo was very clean and comfortable and I was quite satisfied overall. ”

“ Entering the condo the scene had been set. The blinds were pulled back from the double glass windows and the view took my breath away. It was better than the photos and my expectations had more than been met. I had picked this property for the view and was also delighted with its position.It was quiet at night and was within walking distance of ala Moana shopping centre, the Hilton and restaurants. The condo was very clean and I liked the fact that washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, coffee and an in fridge ice machine was supplied. The instructions given by Kat were perfect and so very helpful as was the extra key. Thankyou for the shopping bag and pen...very thoughtful. The bed was very comfortable and the a/C effective. There is a coin operated laundry on the eighth floor which is very clean, near the elevators and with no queues! We used the car park and paid ahead as suggested. Tip:Alamo is across the road behind McDonalds for picking up or dropping off a rental car. I was told they had an area on one of the floors in the Ilikai Marina parking area. They also drove us to the pier. Pros:amazing views, very clean, quiet, great position for shopping, easy access walking or driving and near many restaurants and aBC stores. ”

“ I visit Hawaii yearly for a little r and r. I like the area of the marina because it's not crowded but still close to all restaurants, shops and the beach. In the past i have stayed at the Ilikai hotel (next door to the marina). I decided to stay at the ilikai marina to save some money. I thought the room had an awesome view and it was very roomy. I have never stayed at a condo and didnt really know what to expect. I was happy that the room had a large kitchen with everything you need. However, I was disappointed that the bed wasn't comfortable, mattress seemed aged and the bedding for the bed and sofa bed seemed old. They had comforters, i dont know if they wash it every single time a new tenant uses the unit. I would suggest for them to use bedding with duvets (easy to wash). The bathroom's wall paper is peeling, and it needs updating. Next time condos are not for me, i will pay the extra little money to have my room cleaned daily ”

Once you enter the room, you will be dazzled by the panoramic view from windows. Sky, clouds, ocean, yachts and boats, palm trees, sunset, night view... If you stay over on Friday, do not miss the fire works of Hilton. This room is located at the best position to see them. The nighborhood is not as crowded as the central district of Waikiki, yet is convenient enough. Most of the things (including groceries) are available at an aBC store just around the corner, and ala Moana Shopping Center is in a walking distance also. Beaches are in walking distance, too. The building and room facilities are not modern, but sufficed enough for me. Actually, I felt more relaxed in this room than in usual hotel rooms. Even though there was no front desk, no conceirge desk, I did not feel any difficulty. Things are as well organized as per instructions. And, Kat, the local support, was friendly and very helpful. I could not find a hair dryer on arrival, and then she brought one to me shortly after I called her. Those who want a vacation in luxury may go for another accommodation of higher room rate, but the priceless superb view from this room may be still worth consideration. ”

“ The view from the condo is beautiful from watching whales jump in the bay to the sunsets at night. The condo had plenty of room for a family of 4. The locations is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but close enough for our teenagers to enjoy, only a 10 minute walk and you are in the middle of it all. Kat was very helpful with any issues that we had and found a solution right away. The television was not working when we arrived, she had another one there the next day. The only negative we found was having to pay for the parking 17.00 a day. Even with that said all of the employees at the condo were very friendly! ”

“ Loved the location! Great views of the marina and surfers, ala moana beach park to the right, Hilton lagoon and waikiki beaches to the left. Fireworks were amazing to see from the lanai. Its close enough to the main street and buses etc but far enough away that you don't notice any noise (except maybe from the pub down below). The beaches, tourist shops, grocery stores (Foodland) are all within walking distances so everything is close by. The condo was very tastefully and comfortably furnished. As in other reports, everything is nicely updated with the exception of the kitchen. Previous guests hadn't done the greatest job on washing the glassware and pans before putting them in the cupboards and we did run into the usual tropical welcoming party (i.e. cockroaches) on a number of ocassions. Except for the last 2 items, overall, we would say that its a very nice condo and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. ”

And the view from the tiny lanai is great, especially at the night of July 4th to watch the fireworks! My kids just love the ocean view and they thought it is the very best of the studio. We did use the kitchen. It is functional and practical but I have to say that it needs an update. Becareful when you open the cabinate doors, the metal thing they add on to help you open it almost hurt my fingers. ”

The condo is in a great location - an easy walk to everything including Waikiki Beach and the mall where there is a Foodland. We asked the parking attendant about a monthly rate and were able to buy a 1/2 month pass (last 2 weeks of the month) - a significantly better rate than daily. Inside the condo there is everything that you need - a complete kitchen, all sorts of everyday items - things you wouldn't think of bringing but are at a loss if you didn't have them - it's very thoughtfully supplied. The bed & sofa bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was just as shown in the pictures - updated and clean (as is the rest of the condo). The laundry on the 8th floor was convenient - but you might want to get there earlier in the day. The layout and furniture of the condo was comfortable. Considering how expensive so many of the other accommodations are in the Waikiki area, we were thrilled with the location and the cost, as well as the quality of the condo. They are very thorough with their cleaning, and they scour the entire kitchen, including stove and hood prior to each arrival. We believe the smell that you mentioned may have been the unfortunate, temporary bi-product of a neighboring cook at the time. We have not received similar complaints before. Regarding the sofa bed, we're sorry that it was uncomfortable for you. While we cannot expect a sofa bed to be as comfortable as our luxury pillow-top in the bedroom, we chose and purchased the finest sofa bed available on the island. It is far thicker and more comfortable than other less expensive offerings. Again, we have only received compliments from other renters - never a complaint.

There was a slight problem with a leaky pipe when we arrived, but it was taken care of very quickly by the Aloha Condos team. The condo building watchmen were also very helpful when we had questions. The kitchen, utensils, appliances, plumbing, carpet, and furniture were all in top shape. You can't imagine how relaxing a vacation can be when you don't have to worry about household things going wrong. The location is excellent. Walking distance to Ala Moana shopping center and convenient route to bypass the heart of Waikiki. And don't miss the Friday night fireworks over at the lagoon. Also, very important, the internet worked! What a relief to be able to "google" our itinerary, finish up some overdue work, and complete a "last minute emergency" online exam. The only negative was the proximity to Yacht Harbor Towers (which was under renovation). It was rather noisy during the day, but, if you're out during the day, as you should be while on vacation, the construction was not a problem. We will definitely stay here again. Mahalo and Aloha! ”

I did read that someone had a problem with noise from the restaurant below, however although it was busy the whole time we were there we were never once disturbed by noise from the restaurant. “ Just as the online pictures promised: a spacious, well-appointed and nicely decorated unit with a fabulous view of the Yacht Harbor and Magic Island. Our 3-yo daughter loved the pull-out bed and we enjoyed being able to retreat to the bedroom. The bed was luxurious and fresh. We can't recall the last time we slept so well. Although there is nightlife along the marina, the unit is high up enough so it is quiet. The bathroom had plenty of towels and the housekeeping crew does a great job. There are even spare towels and a couple of folding chairs for the beach. There are laundry facilities on site. The kitchen has everything and there is enough space to make pretty good meals and enjoy them. The dishes and utensils were good quality and the appliances worked well. The unit has free wireless Internet and it was not hard to set up: there is a cheat sheet that has all of the log-in info. The building is located near the HHV lagoon (renovated in 2008) and it was a short walk to the lagoon and the adjoining beach. We were in the water every day and our 3-yo could walk each way. The Chart House, located off the lobby, has nice atmosphere and great food and service. There is a casual pizza place around the corner that has a friendly bar. There are several other dining options within a block of the building. If you are renting a car, there is convenient covered parking in the building. You can sign up for a monthly pass at the booth if you are staying more than 10 days (cheaper that way and no tickets to lose). We'll be back. What a find this was. ”

The beach chairs were heavy as lead and as soon as we got to the Hale Koa beach we rented chaise lounges, umbrella, ice bucket with water. And still had to lug the heavy chairs back to the car. The manager told us there had not been a pool access for two years. I believe part of what we paid was for access to a pool. Cooking smells permeated the hall. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The other furniture was some of the most uncomfortable we've ever tried to relax on. No, we would not stay in 1182 again or recommend it to anyone. It was overpriced for what we had. ”

For a follow up, the dead bolt that you had trouble with was replaced with a new keyless electronic entry security system.
For Guests that need a softer mattress, we added a mattress topper to the inventory.
Every rental is supplied with a complete set of sofa sleeper bedding located in the closet.

Our staff is always ready to help with any of our Guest's concerns. ”

I had a gorgeous view of the Gilligan's Island marina, they had a view of the roof of an adjoining building. They were smack in the middle of the touristy area, I could get to it and away from it at will, which I loved. The staff at aloha Condos could not have been more helpful and bent over backward to take care of me. Also, you are right next to the Hilton Complex, which is huge, and easy to access. You can use their stores and restaurants, and their beach, and no one bothers you. It is kind of fun to watch all of the weddings that constantly go on during the weekends. The closest Starbucks is also over there. Proximity to their grounds more than made up for the condo not really having much of a lobby area...and they have fireworks on Friday evening which are really close to this condo. A couple of hints. Don't rent a car and don't use the cheesy tourist trolley: it is way overpriced! Also, you'll spend all of your time trying to find parking in the Waikiki area. The city bus is easy to use, especially if you have Google maps on a PDa. Each trip is $2.25, and if you make them give you a voucher for the return trip then that is for free. $17 a pop to keep a car overnight seemed high, and aloha Condos makes sure that everyone understands that cost. Ala moana shopping mall is walking distance from the condo(takes only 10 minutes) and there is Mc.Donalds and aBC store just across the street. You can sweam at the llikai hotel pool for free. They have laundry on the 8th floor which cost $2 dollars. We had really pleasant stay and hope to visit this unit again. Thanks for everything Gary and Mary, you were wonderful and kind. ”

Since I have used aloha Condos for my stays on the Big Island, this time I stayed in one of their condos on Oahu. The Ilikai marina was built in 1968, but the building itself is kept fresh, though they could use new carpet in the hallway leading to the rooms. Room 1188 seems to have been updated recently and was a very nice place to stay. I did not use the kitchen to cook, but the appliances were also undated. It was so much more relaxing to be in this condo, as opposed to a hotel. There is at least 3 times the room as a regular hotel. I would probably have to pay 3 times as much for a hotel room with just as much space and ocean view. All in all it is a great value, you get an ocean view, friday fireworks in the Marina, and room to spread out in a condo that is fresh and clean. I can't wait for my next visit. One hit against the building, not the condo or owner. Make sure you tell the parking lot attendant that you want a residential pass before you pay the first time. They won't refund your money, even if you are asking them about it as they are putting the money in the register. ”

The kitchen was the best equipped condo of any we have stayed in from Paris to Amsterdam and the building was very quiet. The attached parking garage (while a bit pricey at $17 per day) was very convenient and secure with unlimited in and out privileges. The owners were extremely easy to work with and very concerned that all of our needs were met. Any questions we had were answered promptly. We had a local contact along with the owners' email and phone numbers in case of any problems - of which there were none. Our only initial concern was locating the actual entrance to the building. Our GPS couldn't determine that while the street address is Ala Moana Blvd. the building and parking garage are accessed via Hobron Ln. between The Red Lobster and Charter House restaurants. Having laundry facilities on the 8th floor near the elevators was convenient. Just remember to bring plenty of quarters and your own soap & fabric softener since there are no change machines or product dispensers. The only other comment concerns the carpeting in the hallways - it is in need of a deep cleaning and some TLC. This, however, is an issue for the complex not this specific unit. We had a great stay and have already told many friends that we would highly recommend this unit as the perfect place to stay while enjoying Honolulu, Waikiki and the island of Oahu. ”

Our guests do sometimes stain the carpet and after several unsuccessful attempts to remove the stains by steam cleaning, we decided to replace the carpet with a simulated wood floor - it's more attractive, and easier to keep clean. This was completed in November of 2008.
Although we have had no other complaints about the towels, our towels were replaced early this year (2009) when we brought in a new local contact and cleaning crew.
Both we (the owners), and our local staff make guest satisfaction a high priority. Guests are provided with contact information and we do respond to all our guest's concerns. The recent positive responses from our other guests confirm that we are achieving this priority.

Ala Moana Shopping Centre is close by, which made self-catering easy, and there's a little supermarket just on the corner if you don't fancy a walk. Waikiki is also handy in the opposite direction but if you'd rather avoid it, you can. The apartment is also within range of a pay as you go wireless network, which was useful for me. I wish I could have stayed longer, and would happily go back again. Loved the constant view of the sky and ocean, and the marina below. The only draw back was the high cleaning fee. However, it meant that the apartment was in very good condition. ”

The unit was spotless when we entered it and everything was labelled clearly so that we knew how to operate the electrics including the air conditioning etc. The location was perfect for us, as we were within walking distance to the beach (for our one year old, it was her first time ever touching sand), places to eat (including being above Red Lobster) and only a 10 minute walk to the ala Moana Shopping centre (which we basically visited everyday as it seems my wife has never seen shops before we went to Hawaii). We were never really nervous having a one year old in the apartment leaving us all to feel very comfortable in the unit. The cooking facilities came in very handy (looking for a way to make baby formula at 2:00am is not fun otherwise), and helped cut the cost of having to dine out three times a day everyday. The neighbours we saw were extremely friendly and the staff there were incredibly nice as well. I live in australia and basically booked the entire thing over the internet with a little help from Kathaleen when it came to tips on what to do and see in Hawaii. I have already recommended it to my extended family and do plan staying there again when we are lucky enough to make a return trip to Hawaii. ”

Before we went out for dinner, we enjoyed our first drink in our room, watching Sunset. No other restaurant could beat this view! Ala Moana in walking distance, and aBC mart is just across the street to buy heavy water bottles. Very convenient. Bus stops are also nearby. Good location. The room is a good size for 2 person and clean. Kitchen looked like new built. I was very glad when the kitchen cleaning stuff (e.g. soups) were also provided. I use holiday apartment often, but not many places provides cleaning stuff, and it was always stressful to buy cleaning stuff on our very first vacation day. It was not necessary this time. Internet worked fine too. However we were little bit annoyed by the traffic noise. Tourist trolleys passed by all the time!! Since the apartment located on 3rd floor, the noise was clear. We had such a wonderful view, but after about a half hour we were tired of listening of the traffic noise, and therefore we had to close the window, which was shame. The tourist buss went by from early in the morning until late at night. We were mostly out of the condo, so it was just acceptable level. If you think to stay in this room and spend most of the time, maybe you will be annoyed by the traffic noise. Another negative point was there was no baggage cloak where you can keep your baggage before/after check-in/out the room. We were lucky because our flight schedule. If your flight is later afternoon, you have to consider about your baggage after check-out time at 1100. Overall I still think the room was very valuable and really nice. We booked this room through aloha Condo, and this was second time we booked the condo through them. They were friendly and helpful, besides we knew the quality of the room from our previous trip, so we knew this stay would be pleasant. Yes it was! ”

They don't have to rent a car because the airport shuttle drops you off across the street and you can walk everywhere or hop on a bus at the corner. Regarding the luggage, the Ilikai Marina is not a hotel so there is not a Bell Hop to leave your luggage with. #1. If available, reserve an Early Check In or Late Check Out at the time of making your reservation online. It is an additional $50 and then you don't have to worry about waiting till 3pm or leaving at 11am
#2. If you didn't reserve an early check in, upon arrival at the airport, from your cell phone, call your local contact number that is provided in your instructions and ask if the condo is ready.
If the condo is cleared from housekeeping and cleared from our check out person, then we are always happy to help you get in early.

Kat Petron, the rental agent was wonderful and answered all questions and concerns expeditiously. She even honoured my special request at no additional charge. The condo was more spacious than I have imagined and I felt totally at home. The bed was super comfortable and the apartment was very very clean and tidy. What I like most about the condo, is of course the spectacular view. I could spend hours just sitting on the lanai taking in the view of the marina and Waikiki over a glass or red wine. In fact, the first thing I did every morning was to eat breakfast on the lanai. The sunrise and sunset were wonderful and I have never seen so many rainbows in my life! Being a corner apartment, I did not have to worry about noise from the neighbours. On some nights I slept with the windows totally opened and enjoyed the night breeze from the ocean. Truly an unforgettable experience. In fact, I could not believe how lucky I was to be in that location, with the lagoon and marina right in front of me. If I must come up with improvements for the condo, they would be minor. I would have liked more soap in the bathroom. One bar of soap for two people is a little insufficient. The wifi did not work although it was easily remedied with the Ethernet cable provided. The cable tv was a disappointment since the reception would be intermittent. Of course, no one goes to Hawaii to watch TV so that was a very minor inconvenience. In terms of noise, daily garbage pickup early in the morning is a nuisance, but I rather have the pickup service than to have to smell the stale garbage. Lovelorn couples making noise outside on the street in front of the marina and the noise of other lovers making passionate love in other units of the same building provide a nice distraction, and perhaps something to be expected - after all, we are in Hawaii!!! I can't wait to be back!!! ”

After three nights we were off to Maui where my wife was raised. Location: Excellent location for us. The Ilikai Marina is located at the beginning of Waikiki so you are not caught up in as much congestion as in the center of Waikiki. We were not interested in the beach or the T-shirt shops. Ala Moana Park is almost next door and we walked there every morning taking in the spectacular views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. It is also close to Ala Moana Mall for shopping and eating. Traffic is very congested during rush hour but this is the case all around Honolulu. Unit 394: Spotlessly clean and comfortable. A large sliding door separates the bedroom from the living room. It worked well for us as we had my sister-in-law from Maui with us. She slept on the sofa bed in the living room. There was a full kitchen, but we did not use it. The condo is on the third floor so it is not very high. The view though is nice of the marina through the large windows. There was some street noise but the street below is not very busy so it was not an issue. Parking was $17/day. The multi-level parking structure was easy to access (entrance is right next door to the Red Lobster restaurant on Hobron Ln). This is not a hotel so there are no hotel services. I don't remember seeing a washer or dryer in the unit. The nightly rate was very reasonable. The cleaning fee though was quite high. I recommend this unit. ”

We could see a fair on the park point light up at night with the sun going down behind it. The one bedroom condo is well layed out but parts are dated (built in the 60's). The kitchen is fine with all the neccessary utensils. The livingroom couch is uncomfortable to sit on (never tried it as a pullout bed). Other chairs are fine. No golf channel on TV and took two days to figure out how to remove "Closed Captions". Living room needs a area rug as floor is hard and cold. Worst part of condo was the bathroom. It was dirty when we arrived and had to call cleaning service to clean tub/shower and give us some face cloths and a second hand towel. There was only 3 bath towels for our 6 day stay and no bath matt. The tub did not drain properly but found the plunger and it helped. There are no laundry facilities. The cost was reasonable until you added the $20/night parking (which we were told was $17/night) ”

The futon sofa is brand new and it came from a high end furniture store in Honolulu. It turns into a Queen size bed.
The wood flooring is also brand new. Carpeting and rugs are a second choice in vacation rentals because hard flooring is much more sanitary.
992 has received continuous upgrades and replacements.
All units are cleaned by a professional housekeeping company after every check out. Two complete sets of towels( bath, hand, wash cloth and beach towels) are standard set up per Guest. A local contact phone number is provided for our Guests and we respond immediately to any Guest concerns. ”

The coffee pot quit on second day. But after calling the manager we had a new one within a day. Downside is the funky carpeting in the hallway. But that's probably a building ownership issue. Also the keyless entry was different. But once we got it we liked it. Also missed having a mini clothes washer and dryer in room. But the complex has several pay washers and dryers on the 8th floor. ”

The condo is centrally located at convenient distances from both the Ala Moana center and Waikiki, but still very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. The condo itself is very clean and well-kept with spacious and bright rooms. The wireless internet was very convenient for scouting out the day's activities. I didn't have a chance to take advantage of the surprisingly large kitchen, but it was a great plus to the condo's amenities. All in all, an amazing find and I would definitely would return a second time and recommend to friends. ”

When we walked in the room it was late at night and the room looked wonderful when we opened the door and the welcome basket was very unexpected but a lovely touch. I have to say the room is very tastefully decorated and has every amenity you could ever want including a jetted tub which my wife made immediate use of. The furniture is of the highest quality and the bed was extremely confortable. When we opened the curtains the next morning the view took our breath away and just added the cherry on top of the cake. It was a treat to sit and watch the boats come and go in the marina and to watch the numerous dragon boats come and go as they practiced out in the ocean. We were thrilled with this condo and would definitely rent it again and recommend it to everyone we meet. It made our honeymoon complete and thank you Chuck for letting us enjoy it. ”

I arrived a day early and Natalie buffed the room out on her Sunday afternoon for me. This property is a 5 minute walk from major shopping and the heart of Waikiki beach and night life but out of the traffic and noise. The photos on the website seem too good to be true but believe it! Price compare it to hotels with "mountain view" and this is ocean front. You can't get any closer. Full kitchen, great towels, full a/V in bedroom and common area with free hot spot and very nicely furnished. Lots of extras in the closet for kids and adults at the beach. Parking isn't cheap ($17/day) but there were always spaces and it is half of the going rate at hotels. $8 airport shuttle from the Ilikai concierge. If I owned this condo, I wouldn't change a thing. I will ask for 1294 every time I come to Oahu. Mahalo ”

The ala Moana Mall was within walking distance; we stopped there to pick up another pair of shorts and had dinner at the food court - inexpensive but good food. We opted not to rent a car on Oahu, and took the bus everywhere we wanted to go. The bus stop was right at the corner across from the aBC Store. It may have taken a bit longer to get places, but was interesting and a lot less expensive. We only had 3 days, but went to the USS arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri Memorial at Pearl Harbor, went to Diamond Head, and went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, and spent time on Wakiki beach. Ilikai Marina Condo 1294 was a perfect location, very well maintained and had all the amenities we needed! And we loved the welcoming gift basket! ”

We stay in alot of vacation condos and location alone will keep us coming back to the illikai marina. Unfortunately there are some caveats. 1. Even though we asked the aloha condos staff about the deck railings looking like they ended awfully far from the building, they assured us the spacing was no more then the railing spacing.. that was incorrect. *IF* you had the condo slider open all the way blocking off 2 inches, that was true. If you closed the slider part way then the spacing was 8 inches! Not only that, but there is a small ledge, so I would never recommend leaving the slider open with children under 8-10. I cant comprehend how it could have ever met building codes. Now, saying that, we would still stay there again because we love the location and the a/c works great. :) But we would have brought a travel gate so that we could feel safe opening the sliding door. 2. The kitchen didnt have a stitch of tupperware -none of the perks that you usually find in a rental... sugar, or left over foil that the last folks left bring those from home. 3. Towels!! We (3) were provided with 1 bath towel and 1 beach towel for an 8 day stay. I dont know about you, but I dont use the same towel every day for over a week.. especially when vacationing in a beach location that is very warm. We had to wash the towels, which was a first at any rental we have ever stayed in. The washer and dryers at the illikai ate $5 in quarters. There is no change machine. ABC store will only give 3.00 in quarters with purchase. It was a big pain. Dont use the stacked w/d & bring plenty of quarters. It cost 2.25 each load to wash and an addtl 2.25 to dry. The washer only fit 6 of the large towels and a few hand towels. Again, we would stay there again and feel it was a value, but wish we would have known the above. ”

Otherwise there was a Red Lobster down stairs, pub and other places within walking distance. Great location which was a 10 min walk to Waikiki beach so you weren't in the hussle and bussle. It also was 10min walk to Ala Mona shopping centre which had fantastic stores. There was cheap parking for $6US for 12hrs which is great if you had a car for a few days. We parked at the condo's which was $17US per day and worked out better for us as we didn't have to keep moving the car after 12hrs. The only downside is that there was construction work happening at the Ilikai Hotel across the road so could be a bit noisy in the day, however if your in Hawaii you wouldn't really be staying in your room! Would definately stay here again and recommend it to family and friends. ”

My husband was attending a conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village just two hotels down from us- less than a 10 minute walk. From the Ilikai Marina I could walk with our 14 month old to the beach, to the lagoon, to the Ala Moana Mall (where there's also a full grocery store), or take a longer walk down into the "heart" of Waikiki. It was also a convenient starting point for driving to other parts of the island, like the North Shore and to Hanauma Bay. The condo itself had everything we needed and we loved having a full kitchen. The view from the condo is fantastic and on our last morning we were treated to a gorgeous full rainbow just outside. The bed was comfy, the air conditioning worked great, it was easy to park and easy to make all the arrangements with Chuck, the property manager. We rented baby equipment like a high chair and pack-n-play from a local company called www.babytravelmadeeasy.com. They provided a great service. The only drawback to the condo is there is no dishwasher. Since we did a lot of cooking ourselves, this was one convenience that would have been nice to have. Also one of the standing lamps in the living room had a burnt out bulb and the toilet tank seemed to have a leak so the water would run more than it needed to. We used the washer and dryer in the building twice during our stay and that was really nice to have nearby. We would definitely stay here again! ”

“ I've visited Waikiki 4 times over the years and stayed in various levels of accommodation namely the Waikiki Shore appartments, Sheraton Waikiki and the Outrigger on the beach. In my opinion the Ilikai Marina represents the best combination due to being an apartment with full kitchen, having a perfect unobstructed ocean+marina view, conveniently located between the Hilton lagoon and the ala Moana shopping center. Then there is of course the significant price advantage over a hotel stay or even other comparable apartments. The apartment itself is fully equipped with everything you could require. My only slight misgiving would be the size of the lanai which although serves its purpose is a little small (room for two chairs and a small table only). The other significant plus is the owner Shahin who is very easy to deal with and provides first class support for any questions or issues you may have. I would certainly stay in condo 786 again. ”

A small disadvantage of this western outlook was the sun streaming in during the afternoon necessitating drawing of the curtains. See-through climate control blinds would have been appreciated. Nevertheless, close proximity to beaches and shops of Waikiki, and pickup points (for local and tour buses) made daily activities easy and pleasureable.Our compliments to alice, the local manager,who handled a small maintenance issue with speed and coutesy. Email negotiations and contacts with the owner made the booking arrangements easy and personal. ”

The condo itself was great, with only very minor cleanliness issues (i.e. I had an item roll under the bed, and noticed it did not appear to be vacuumed under there - quite dusty). Other than that though, everything you could need comes with the condo: towels, sheets, beach chairs, a boogie board, wide assortment of kitchen items, roll of paper towels, 3 rolls of toilet paper, a bar of soap, and dish soap. Bottom line: I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat when visiting Hawaii in the future. ”

“ This condo provided everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped. Bed was comfortable, as was the pullout couch. Be prepared to pay for the parking. Close to beach, park and shopping for walkers and right on the trolley transit route. Beautiful view of the ocean just over the tops of sailboat masts - not through them. The restaurant/bar below was not too loud to bother us and we actually enjoyed the sounds of jazz sax on a few nights while sipping a beverage on the lanai. Our only observation that could be changed is that the bathroom fan sounds a bit like a plane taking off- it is quite loud. The internet met all the needs of our 15 year old son and it was great to be able to make local calls from the unit. We had other family members come over for supper and the table expanded nicely - there are only six chairs so we had to improvise for the two others we needed. We were ther over New Years and it was great to be able to stay in the comfort of the condo and our own beverages to watch the fireworks from the lanai. The lanai is small only two people but there is plenty to see, susnsets. whales, surfers, planes, sailboats, birds, and of course there are always a few people to watch on the street below. We were glad that we chose the ocean view as the other view looking towards the mountains overlooked a parkade. the condo provided beach towels and we left a boogie board there,couldn't quite figure out the red beach chair. All in all yes we would stay there again. ”

It was also within easy walking distance to the ala Moana shopping mall and the Waikiki strip. The bed was king size and comfortable - always important! The unit was spacious and comfortable. The lanai was very tiny and not really good for spending any time on, but the view was great. The kitchen was very functional but the stove wasn't working when we were there so a hot plate was provided. We had planned on cooking but couldn't really so eating out was necessary and that is expensive. The hot plate was not great as it took a very long time to boil water for a cup of tea! I also called the cleaning service as one of the bedroom side lamps was broken. She said no problem, but never came to fix or replace it so we had to move a living room lamp to the bedroom for the week. The cleaning service fee is way too high. ”

To my surprise, there was no similar stove on the island and I had to order one and wait for it to arrive. ;-(

Great location in Waikiki, very close to shopping and entertainment. Beach is just steps away and an incredible 180 degree view from the patio. The condo is clean, has a full kitchen, wireless internet and cable tv. The bed is huge and extra comfortable. The owner of thee unit is a real gentlemen, I assure you that. He will always try to make all your requests possible. I will be back in Unit 786 very soon. ”

Owner's emails helped us to locate the Marina and move in after a late-evening arrival. You will notice that 790 has a better combination door lock than other condos on the floor - it eliminates the hassle of a lockbox and separate key when you walk back to the condo with an armful of groceries from the nearby Foodland supermarket. We would happily return to 790 for another stay in the future. ”

We would likely stay there again, perhaps on a higher floor. ”

“ The Ilikai Marina is in fact a quiet location. There is only a single lane access road separating the building from the beautiful Marina. The garbage truck comes and goes in the morning. If one is super-sensitive to sound the easiest way to avoid the truck noise is to shut the lanai door in the living room for that period of time. The bedroom is completely quiet if you shut the sliding door separating it from the living room. As the building is concrete construction there is no noise transfer between the units.
For sleeping the sofa bed is not as comfortable as the King size Simmons Beautyrest bed in the bedroom. However as sofa beds go it is extremely comfortable as a day time sofa. Extra foam has been added to make it more comfortable for a good night's rest.
The Ilikai Marina is always kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The ground floor has attractive landscaping, and is completely open to the outside, which is one of its charms. The building is treated for insects on a regular basis. ”

“ At first sight the suite looked great, comfortable and clean. Then we found some small bugs racing around the kitchen counter the next day. A couple of days later we saw a cockroach on the kitchen wall. We told the manager of the building and she gave us some bug traps which did nothing to get rid of them. We decided we would just avoid the kitchen and not let these critters spoil our vacation. After we came home we sent photos which we had taken of those bugs to the person/company that we had corresponded with to secure the rental suite. No real apologies came back. My advise to to find out if they did anything to the bug problem since November of 2007. ”

“ The condo is now under new ownership and management.
In the summer of 2009, the condo was completely renovated with all new furniture, new flooring, a new kitchen and a new bathroom.
There has not been any evidence or reports of bugs this year (2009).

Parking is not a problem, we always found a spot in the free area nearby but if you don't, you can park in the attached garage for a fee. Waikiki beach area is walking distance, shops are walking distance. This is just a great little place to stay if you do not want to stay in a hotel or you want to save a little money. The unit is a bit outdated but clean, comfy and nothing was broken. You will find everything in the kitchen what you need for cooking. Bring beach towels though since those in the unit are small and not the best quality for water absorbtion. We highly recommend this unit to stay in, and we will deffinately return one day!!! ”

Don't be shocked like we were when you look at the kitchen floor. It looks like it's dirty but it's not. Just alot of wear and tear. It really should be replaced. Everything that we needed during our stay was provided. Thank you for the salt & pepper, spices, coffee, sugar, and all the etc. It made shopping alot easier, and what a nice suprise to find the shopping cart. It really came in handy. Everything was fresh and clean. The flat screen tv is a plus. It was easy to do laundry no one else was there. There is a little noise from the street if the door is open during the night. We just left it closed until around 1 or 2 in the morning and was fine. It is alot quieter during the weekdays. The fireworks were great. I've never been that close. This is a very safe place. We saw the guard everytime we went in and out. The view is to die for. We watched our cruise ship come in the morning before we left. A cooler, beach towels and chairs were available. We would stay here agian only longer due to the cleaning fee. ”

“ As my stay was brief, because I relocated to the Hawaii Price right next store. There was no night security lock on the door, there is a dead bolt that is keyed from the outside, no other security style locks. The first night there were escapes convicts on the island that had not been caught. The first night there were people outside my door attempting to get into the condo mistakingly thinking this was there condo. There was only a bolt that intended as a lock for the sliding door. I called the name that was listed in the manual that was inside the condo, twice with no response (actually it was hand written into the manual), I was later informed when emailing the owner that there was a name of a person called Kat that was on my initial paperwork (this was not the ER contact in the manual that stays in the condo). There was no attempt to make any of this right, just the standard cut and paste of "here is our policy", as I incurred all of the charges for the safer location for the remainder of my stay. The appearrance of the condo was not as much of a concern as the security risk, it is still on the "aged" worn side, the carpet is stained in areas, the pillows on the chairs in the dining area are stained, the floor in the kitchen is cut up in areas. everything else is standard (bed with big flowered average spread, couch that is average, tv's and basic appliances, and several items for an extended stay-beach items and such) If you would feel safe with just a regular lock, only use this as a place to sleep and you were going to pay the reduced rate that I found (99/night), then this condo would be a consideration. My reguirements for a business stay are not excessive, this condo did not reach even the basic need of safety for a stay by myself. ”

“ We are sorry you had such a bad experience in our condo. What a terrible way to spend a night, imagining these escaped convicts, all heading for the Ilikai Marina! However, the security and comfort of our guests is our primary concern. We had never had any previous complaints about our locks. Since your visit we have installed a modern keyless locking system and have done away with lockbox. We have also installed an additional bolt lock on the inside. The keyless locking system was planned, but the extra inside security bolt is in your honor! The security at the Ilikai Marina is well maintained and on June 26, the day of your arrival, a security guard was on duty. In the Welcome Manual we give the number of the security office, and the call is forwarded to the cell phone of the guard on duty in case he is on his rounds. If you had called the number of security in the welcome book, they would have been able re-assure you as well as check the security video screens. The resident managers number is also in the Welcome Book.
We had recently changed our local contact and we apologize for not having updated the information in the Welcome Book. However we did give you the name and number of our new local assistant in our correspondence. It is now also on the condo door.
We bought the condo 18 months ago. At that time we bought a top of the line king-size Simmons Beautyrest bed and mattress, so it would be considered above average. We bought the queen-size sofa bed at The HomeWorld, the nicest furniture store in Honolulu, along with dining room table, chairs etc. Several of our guests mentioned in the posted reviews how comfortable the bed was and how beautifully furnished the condo was. We stayed in the condo 3 weeks prior to your visit and unfortunately we did not notice any stains on the dining room chairs, as we certainly would have done something about it. The appliances are all new and were installed when we bought the condo. The photos and the video on the alohacondos.com site speak for themselves, however, since taken last year, we have added beautiful artwork in the living room and the bedroom and a flat screen TV in the bedroom.
We did not replace the carpet or the kitchen flooring yet, but have always planned to replace the existing flooring in the entire condo with porcelain tile this year in the fall, which is being implemented.
It is a pity you waited 10 days to contact us about your unfortunate experience. You did have our e-mail and telephone number. ”

“ We had a great stay in condo 1286. Check in was easy. We didn't rent a car so I don't know about parking. But I do recommend a city bus pass. The condo itself is quiet, there is evening and weekend security for the building. The kitchen floor is very slippery with socks on, so be careful making the corner there! The shower door was a little soap scummy, but otherwise the condo was very clean. I travelled with my 16 month old, I wasn't too crazy about the electrical cords (lamp cord, and an extension cord) They are big temptations for a child. There are lots of pots and pans and other utensils but they are well used. All in all I would stay in condo 1286 again. And I would recommed it. ”

“ We really lucked out when we found this condo available for our travel dates. The communication between us and the owners were excellent. When travelling with kids it can be stressfull if you are jammed into a small space but that was not the case with condo 1286. We had plenty of room for us and our two children. The pull out Queen bed was more than enough for them and the privacy sliding door was useful when we wanted to stay up later. The view is incredible! We got there on a Friday so we saw the Friday night fireworks that the Hilton puts on right from our room/lani. Kids loved it! The condo was stocked with everything we needed for the beach along with a cooler which came in handy everyday! There is a laundry service available on the 8th floor which was easy to use and handy to have available espcially when you are swimming in salt water all day everyday. The location was ok, a little far from the main Waikiki strip but there is a bus that you can catch out front and if you don't mind walking then you can get there in about 20 mins along the beach walkway. As for groceries, you would be best going to the Foodland at the ala Moana shopping centre and taking a taxi back if you don't have car. It will only cost you about 7 dollars. You can walk to the mall it's only a 5 mins walk and well worth it! I could go on and on but I won't, If you are looking at renting 1286 I would tell you do it you won't regret it. The unit has basic amenities, fully-stocked kitchen, good air conditioning and comfortable bed. The bathroom faucet could use upgrading, it was rather dingy. Beach chairs would have been a nice touch--we had those available in previous units as well as other little amenities like boogie boards, etc. Owners were friendly and provided quick responses to emails. WiFi was available by piggy-backing off available signals within the building so it was hit & miss. For the price, it was a good value. ”

From the building it is a short walk to the beaches in front of the neighboring Hilton and to Waikiki, in one direction. There was good shopping close by. (At the Ala Moana Market Place, we enjoyed Mauana Loa Poi Bowl in the food court. Be sure to season the poi with the Lomi Lomi Salmon. The Island Vantage coffee stand in the court made one of the best espressos I've ever had. Our only problem was with WiFi, because I brought our old, less sensitive, laptop with us. Although there were accessible networks all around, I got the best, though still variable, reception by paying for the Metro18 network. We highly recommend this unit and hope to stay in it again. This would have been great at twice the price. ”

Truly fully equipped. The view was spectacular, the bed extremely comfy. Linens and towels were plentiful and of high quality. It is only a short stroll to the Hilton Lagoon and beach. There is an ABC store steps away and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The only negative was the poor attitude of the attendants working in the parking garage. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend this condo highly to anyone else wanting a quiet, beautiful, perfect stay. Gillian and Vlad are awesome hosts. The carpet in the hall way is very old and dirty. I was surprised why carpet is even used in Hawaiian climate. The towels in the unit are very old, thin and even dark coloured. They should be replaced long time ago. The bed sheets are clean but perhaps the inserts are old and we smelled some odours. We liked open the sliding door of the balcony to get some Hawaiian fresh sea breeze, but it is a bit windy on the 17th floor and the wind shakes the door and makes noise. ”

Free wireless internet and cable TV. Tv is small, but a flatscreen with good picture. The bed is a king and medium hard. The unit was clean. Lanai is small, view is of the city. Location is good for ala Moana shopping and the park. Bus stops are close. Rental car from alamo is nearby if you want a car for a day trip. Plenty of places to eat and five minutes to the lagoon or beach. Check-in and check-out effortless. My only gripe would be the cleaning fee, which for me was $200 over a 13 day stay. This was for one cleaning at mid-stay and one at check-out. I think one cleaning at the end of the stay would have been adequate and saved me $100. To be fair, I think cleaning charges are excessive for all condo rentals in Honolulu. I will certainly consider staying in 1785 again in the future, and would recommend the condo to those looking for a value accomodation for one or two people, or a couple with one child. ”

Upon our arrival the condo had not been cleaned since the last tenant - food, trash, and dishes were scattered about the kitchen and dining table. The bedspread cover was dirty and stained. When we called the onsite contact, Alice, she came immediately to clean and said she was never notified that we were coming. Alice promptly cleaned the condo and replaced the bedspread cover with a new one. However, when we returned we noticed that the toilet had not been properly cleaned and there were splatter marks on the toilet seat. 2. The bathroom has new fixtures and *looks* good in the photos, but has a strong moldy smell. We were not sure where it was coming from, but the shower curtain liner was covered in mold/mildew. 3. The toaster is a fire hazard. Its sides get extremely hot after toasting one piece of toast. We found this out the hard way when I touched the side of it and got a second degree burn on my finger. 4. The bed skirt is ripped on a couple of places and is taped together with duct tape. When we contacted the owner/manager, Chuck Buser, to express our concerns about the cleanliness about the condo, we were never able to reach him. Yes, this condo is very inexpensive per night and is in a good location for beach access, but we found the problems to be too overwhelming and we will never stay here again. We will also hesitate to recommend the entire property because of the problems with this unit. ”

“ The condo had not been cleaned because you chose to ignore our instructions and checked in very early. When we have guests arriving and departing on the same day, the cleaners need to have uninterrupted access to the condo in order to fully prepare it for the next guest. Had you followed our very simple instructions, or at least requested an early check-in in advance, this would have been a much better experience for all of us. Your local contact is there to help, and had you given us the opportunity to correct any of our shortcomings during your visit, we would have been happy to do so.

“ Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at this condo. It was safe, modernized and well-equipped. In respect of cleanliness, I would recommend washing of the windows, drapes and carpets. (I presume the bedspreads/pillow covers are laundered after each stay). If you are noise sensitive, take your ear plugs or if you have trouble sleeping you might look for a quieter location, away from the ongoing background noise of traffic (buses, trolley cars, taxis and motorcycles). At nighttime, the outside noise level did not subside until between 2:00 a.m. - 5:30 a.m. Otherwise, the location was ideal, very close walking distance to a wonderful swimming beach area adjoining the Hilton Hawaiian Village complex (great ice-cream and coffee at Lampert's), lovely Duke's lagoon with the fireworks displays on Friday evenings 8:45 p.m., shady Fort De Russey Park, Magic Island, and good swimming at ala Moana Beach Park, nearby restaurants such as Charters, the downstairs pub with excellent pizza, and the Red Lobster and a handy aBC store at the corner on ala Moana Blvd. Thee to four blocks away is great shopping at ala Moana Shopping Centre, while at Ross's, Wall Mart and the Don Quixote store you can get more affordable grocery items, clothing & household items, souvenirs, chocolates, Kona coffee etc. There is good bus service to where ever you want to go in Waikiki, Honolulu or other parts of the island and you can conveniently rent a car from avis across the street at the Discovery Tower, or Thrifty's Car Rental (on Kalakaua just east of ala Moana Blvd.). We especially loved our day trips to Diamond Head Park and Hanauma Bay. Our trip around the eastern side, north shore and through central Oaha was interesting seeing different landscapes, the surfers riding the big waves, pineapple plantations, corn fields and other rural areas. We loved our first visit to Oahu and would stay at this condo again - great value and convenient! Aloha and Mahalo. ”

The issues we had are small and relate to the unit needing a bit of money spent on it to make it excellent. The TV had been replaced with a flat screen, but it is only about a 20" widescreen, pretty small. One towel bar in the bathroom was missing and the shower curtain was falling apart. The kitchen has been reno'd, but it was a cheapo job with the cabinets being installed so high the you need to get on a stool to reach the second shelf, let alone the third one. The ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor are chipped and the carpet in the rest of the unit (along with the drapes and the hokey old silk flowers) all need to be scrapped. Also, the rollers on the sliding door to the balcony and its lock are worn out making the door very difficult to open and impossible to secure. It also bangs and whistles when the wind is strong. The unit includes towels and a face cloth, but they are so old and thin that we bought some new ones. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again, but it take a fairly small amount of attention and expenditure on this condo to make it the one that we would seek out for our next stay. ”

Great little kitchen to make coffee every morning. Huge Frig. Great to have a dining table in the room. TV had many channels. The view of the City/Mountains is very panaromic. The room is quiet, except for the first night when one of the neighbors was in late and loud with shutting their lanai door which really shakes up the wall. We got the room when there was a special rate, so all in all much better, bigger room than a Hotel in the same price range. ”

The condo itself was very clean and well kept with everything you need. The main room is large and the condo has a full kitchen, cooker / fridge etc with a clean bathroom. The entire building was fairly modern and well kept. Its a 5 minute walk to the closest beach (next to the Hilton) and a 15 minute walk to Waikiki beach and all the amenities, shops and restaurants found there. Closer to the condo are a number of restaurants and bars, the Ala Moana shopping centre is a 5 minute walk, and an ABC store is over the road. The only critisism we had is there wasn't a grocery store or supermarket near to the condo (we didnt really look too hard) and there is some street noise from the balcony even when the doors were closed but this really was not a problem. Stopping here is a fraction of the cost of the hotels close by and you have the option of cooking meals rather then eating out. Its only 5-15 minutes away from everything you need which for us made it exceptional value for money without offering dirty, cheap and nasty accommodation. I would reccommend this condo to everyone! ”

On the second day of our vacation, our car was broken into (with our belonging in the trunk, with nothing visible inside the car) while we were on the beach at the north shore, and we lost our wallets and cell phones. The manager was just incredibly helpful at that stressful time, and even offered to lend us some money in the interim. She was very supportive, and helped in so many ways to get our vacation back on track. That was certainly above and beyond anything we had expected. We will undoubtably stay at the condo the next time we return--the location, the furnishings, the view, and the hospitality are hard to beat. ”

“ I own a timeshare, but decided to rent outside our company. We rented 2 condos. Found this place and line and jumped on the rental quickly. Pricing hotels, this was a much better deal. Being able to have even small meals kept the budget in check. Just the right size for 2, thought I guess some of the rentals do have a sleeper sofa. 2 things that I was a bit dissappointed with: 1. Towels...you get what you have and have to wash them during your stay. Not a huge deal 2. Laundry. I didn't see the sign for the times on the laundry room and got my loads locked up for the night. Over all...I do recommend staying here and if we came to Honolulu in the future, I would rent here again Anne & Dan Padgett Waukesha, WI ”

“ We always look for an apartment where we are not subject to Hotel timings & space limitations. We selected on line from quite a few options and were v. pleased with our choice: excellent view, comfortable yet high style design interior. Our sensation that the place might not be as spacious as it appeared on screen was unfounded. Good well managed space layout. Huge, maybe a little too soft, but v comfy bed. Though the bedroom did feel a bit claustrofobic when the sliding door was closed. Any downsides? Yes, maybe - the a/c was not v. efficient and it was a bit un-nerving trying to fathom out how to get into the place when you 1st arrive & the so called security guard was zero help. Think that was the biggest negative - no help on the ground when you get there. And when you rang the number of the person who was meant to BE THERE FOR YOU, if needed, she was at best very distant and you felt you shouldn't have bothered her. Otherwise, really pleased with our choice & the stay. And this was one exceptionally well equipped Condo. Enjoyed it enormously. ”

“ We spent a lovely ten days at this beautiful condo. It is close to the beach so we could easily carry beach chairs & a cooler(which were provided). The fully equiped kitchen made for some nice evening dinners. Shopping is near by so there is really no need to rent a car. Sitting on the lanai and watching the sunsets were beautiful. I highly recommend this rental condo. It truly was a home away from home. We will be back. ”
