I did alot of research on hotels and condos. This condo was pretty much "as advertised" and a good value for the price. I would definitely recommend the condo, but there were a few small things that made the stay less pleasurable...and can be rectified by the owners. One thing we missed (compared to a hotel) was clean towels daily, and we washed the towels while we were there (not a chore I enjoy on vacation). I can live without daily housekeeping, but we prefer to use towels and change them more frequently and 2 sets wasn't enough for a 7 night stay. If 3-4 sets had been provided, I would have appreciated it. We ran out of toilet paper...and were advised we'd have to purchase more ourselves - but of course we had to go out to the ABC Store and buy a 4-pack. Again, the expense wasn't excessive, but it wasn't something I like to worry about on vacation and could easily be rectified by the owners. Also, I would recommend that the shower curtain be replaced with one that fits the opening. We found it to be about 6 inches too short - causing excess water on the floor after every shower. Last but not least, the Air Conditioner remote control had a note on it not to adjust it. It was set at 64 degrees, and for the first few days we froze our tails off. We later had to call because the AC didn't seem to be working and found that if the patio door was open, it would automatically shut off and had to be reset. That information should be included in the instructions and people should not be told not to adjust the AC...everyone has different "comfort zones" and for the price, the condo should be comfortable.

Clean and well-stocked (except for no corkscrew in the kitchen). Gorgeous view, comfortable furnishings. The nightly luau across the street was entertaining, but noisy. Beautiful view of the fireworks--with lots of sound. Very peaceful and relaxing overall. A great vacation location.
Good location, perfect sea views

The service was excellent. We had a problem with the safe and we were very happy with the help received. We believe the instructions for the safe should be attached to the top of the safe. We were very happy with the Condo and would recommend it to anyone. We would have liked more drawer space for clothes. The best thing was the magnificent sea views, as well as the fireworks Friday nights and the show on the rooftop across from our condo. It would have been helpful to have instructions for the TV, clock, stove etc. Overall, we were extremely happy.

Best place we've stayed in Honolulu

My husband and I spent seven nights in unit 1638. This was our third visit to Honolulu and the Ilikai condo was by far the best place we've stayed. Overlooking the Hilton hotel and lagoon, our breakfasts and dinners were spent taken in the beauty of turquoise waters and white sand beach. Our morning routine involved at least an hour and a half walk on the beach, which stretches on for miles. The balcony gets the sun in the mornings, which made the afternoons perfect for sitting out on the lanai with a glass of wine. We did tire of the luau after the third night in a row. It did not entice us to purchase tickets (around $100 US per adult). We did, however, love the Friday night fireworks. Best view right from the lanai. The Ala Moana Mall is about a 10 minute walk, complete with restaurants, great shopping, and even a grocery store. Our final night we dined on king crab and reminisced about what a fantastic time we had. The condo has everything you need, including free wireless internet and calls within North America. Like one reviewer noted, there was a shortage of glasses. We let Rocco know and someone from Aloha condos dropped off new glassware. We did end up buying a few things for the kitchen: metal colander for draining pasta, corkscrew, and a couple of glasses to cover us until the new ones arrived. The pool was warm and a nice change from the cool ocean waters. Finding a deck chair was never a problem to soak up the sun, which shines down on the pool for most of the day. All in all, fantastic condo, fantastic location. We highly recommend unit 1638 to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.
Manager response:
Glassware inventory has since been refreshed. Great guests, thank you for all you did to improve our home!
Lovely, sleek condo with a beautiful view

My husband and I stayed four nights in unit 1638 of the Ilikai after having stayed four nights at the Hilton Village next door. Our room at the Ilikai was bigger and more attractive, had a better view, and was significantly cheaper. The pool at the Ilikai is smaller than those at the Hilton but less crowded, and you can always get a lounge chair. Plus, we had a perfect view of the fireworks on Friday night from the lanai. If I were going to change anything, I'd ask Aloha Condos to consider stocking the small closet with a body board or a couple of masks or other small, inexpensive water toys to make the experience even better for guests without much cost or trouble to the management. Also, it would have been nice to know where to take our trash; please consider adding that info to the detailed email with the lockbox code and rules.
Manager response:
Trash location is near the elevators. This information is included with checkin details that go out with the lockbox code.
... "Please note that there is a full laundry room on the opposite side of the elevators. Trash can be dumped in the trash room near the elevators."

From the moment we arrived, it was a wonderful experience. No checking in at the desk in the Lobby, and no waiting for the room to be ready either. We were lucky that no-one else stayed the days before we arrived, so 10am was our check-in. We went straight up to our room, keyed in our number, then opened the box up for our key. The home was so comfortable, with everything we could want. We had even taken a kettle with us, just in case, but there was an electric jug. The walking map, and trolley map, and welcome canvas bag were lovely touches as well. The location was superb, and we never tired of watching the ocean or the Hilton Hotel guests frollicking in their pools. The Fireworks on Friday night, well, we had a birds eye view. I video taped the whole thing, while my Husband took photos. There was also a Luau nearly every night as well, which we could see well enough not to have to book tickets to, on the rooftop of the Hilton. The bed was comfortable, however, the sheets were not big enough obviously, as they never tucked in properly, which meant that by morning, we were sleeping on hardly any sheet at all. The pillows were nearly non-existent as well. We also had to buy two water glasses, as there was only one cracked wine glass. Little things really when you think about it. Washing dishes and towels was never a chore either. However, we really couldn't say enough about the whole experience. From our contact,"Rocco", to asking for help with the Internet, we couldn't have had better service. We will definitely stay here again, in a Condo, as it was a much nicer experience for us. We had stayed at the Ilikai in 2008 in a Hotel room, about 5 floors above the one we had this year, and in the same wing. To not have to do any paperwork etc. when you arrive, was so nice. It felt like our own room, not part of the Hotel. Thank you Aloha Condos for making our holiday affordable, and a wonderful experience. Happy love 2 travel.

This was probably the best value on or near Waikiki. The condo was just the right size for 2 people. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were there when they had to swap out a generator and we were without electricity for a few hours during the night and that triggered some other minor problems with the safe and the oven buzzer. But the staff took care of it promptly and gave us a $50 refund for our trouble. Everything is very clean and updated. We were impressed with what we received for our money. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in in the heart of Waikiki. If you rent a car its worth it to do the valet parking. Parking is a premium in the area and difficult to find. Thanks for a great time.
