Family Vacation
Hi all, We had a blissful time at Kaleialoha. The view from condo 105's lanai is just amazing. Each morning we look out and see Molokai and Lanai islands and greet the green turtles at the condo beach. At night the sunset was so beautiful! We all felt so relaxed and at peace. We came with young girls and they had a terrific time. They are not strong swimmers and when we were at the condo they tended to use the pool, which is very comfortable. We would recommend this place without reservation. Mahalo to Cheri.

oceanfront relaxation and fabulous outdoor adventures
From the get-go, we knew we had chosen a winner. Open the door and see the ocean straight ahead through the huge glass doors that lead onto the spacious lanai where we ate our breakfast every morning. Space was comfortable, clean, with interesting artwork and a good collection of books and fun gear. Our neighbors were friendly and we met fun people sitting outside by the ocean having our personal happy hour. Interestingly, we saved a lot of money by staying here because the view and accommodations were so delightful that we were more happy to cook and eat on our own porch or with our neighbors than go into town and buy meals and drinks. Extra nice details were the barbecue outside and the basket of goodies when we first got there. Location was perfect--a 10-minute drive to the quaint town of Lahaina, a decent grocery store and coffee house within walking distance, and lots of top notch beaches within a few minutes away.

We had never been to Hawaii before and didn't know what to expect. We got on the plane to return home and both felt, for the first time in our lives, that we didn't want to leave. Unit 209 was absolutely perfect: beautiful welcome basket, glorious view only steps from the ocean, clean, well equipt, beautifully decorated...and an extremely good value. We are even considering buying a condo on Maui but would always compare a new purchase to #209. The complex was beautifully maintained and very quiet. Appreciated the private parking space also.

The condo was very clean and well resourced(no Ac but that didn't trouble us). I was a bit worried it might be noisy with the bedroom on the road side of the complex but this was not a problem at all. It is quite dark in the bedroom so it was necessary to have the light on all the time. Liked the fact that there was no beach directly in front of the condo so people couldn't walk past - beach to one side was perfectly adequate for a swim. The beaches at Napili Bay or at Kaanapali are much nicer but also have hordes of people. Good location for visiting the sights of Maui. Overall I would definitely recommend this unit.

Condo is very nice except no AC. Also there was no deadbolt on the front door, so security was lacking. They were working on the concrete so there was a lot of dust and you have to leave the windows open because there is no AC. The light outside the BR window stays on so it is not very dark when you're tryimg to sleep.
Manager response:
Thank you for your honest comments.
A vacation owner's nightmare is having guests in your condo while construction is in process. Because the work never seems to be performed as it is scheduled, guests sometimes get affected. I apologize that you had to endure the dust and noise while they repaved the walkway.
Your comments on the lighting and dead bolt are excellent and I will look to correct both of those issues.
As for air conditioning, I am not a personal fan of AC and prefer opening doors and windows and using fans, so have not had AC installed in my unit. I have found there are few times during the year AC is necessary. However, I understand that is a matter of personal preference.
All the best to you and hope you return to Maui again.

This unit was awesome. Very clean and nicely decorated. Everything was super. I especially enjoyed my daily ritual of a nice glass of local wine on the balcony for sunset. The views were beautiful! There was some construction going on during our stay, but it wasn't that much of an inconvenience. We didn't need to be sleeping in past 9am anyway. But it would have been nice to know that it was going on before we arrived. Chuck was very informative and the detailed communication via email was easy to understand and very thorough. Location was nice. I liked that we were away from the tourists. It was more intimate and the locals were fantastic. Ohana Taco stand was a great find and inexpensive eats for a quiet and relaxing night in. We didn't receive a welcome package. I was a bit disappointed about that. Maybe with the economy being down they don't do that anymore. All in all, our stay was awesome and I would rent this unit out again the next time in Maui. Thanks

I enjoyed my stay at the Kaleialoha Condos in May of 2009. It is a small, quiet complex and located close to Kaanapali. I stayed in #209 which was very nicely decorated and had a comfortable bed, full kitchen, shower/tub, and a flat screen tv in the living room. It does not have AC but with the fans, windows and sliding glass door open, its not needed. When you step out onto the balcony, there is a nice table and chairs. Down below is a grass area and then the wide blue ocean. You can see sea turtles popping their heads up and watch the sunsets from your balcony or the grass area. There really isn't a beach and its not the best swimming area but the great beaches are close by. The health food store and a small farmers market are right down the street...then a little farther down is a regular grocery store. If I stayed on the west shore again, I would stay in this condo unit.

My husband and I stayed here for 7 days for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely perfect. The address is Lahaina, but the condo is really much closer to Napili Bay. The location is ideal, and the setting is gorgeous. Not only was the condo beautifully decorated and completely upgraded, but every detail to make our stay comfortable was thought of - the owner supplied beach chairs and a cooler in the bedroom closet, and of course there was Kona coffee in the kitchen. Although the interior of the condo was beutiful, the view of the ocean from the lanai was the best part; you could see Molokai and Lanai right from the porch! When you were ready for some sun, it was a very short walk out to the lawn and patio with beach chairs that sits right above the ocean wall. There is small strip of beach in front of the condo, but it is a bit rocky, so you have to be careful about swimming there; however, this doesn't take away from the experience at all, and we were more than satisfied with our stay. We are missing the sounds of the ocean lulling us to sleep each night and can't wait to return.

We spent three weeks in this nice condo in Feb 2009. The unit itself is just terrific - comfortable, well-appointed and decorated and enjoying fantastic views from the deck of both Lanai and Molokai (and many passing whales). The building is nicely located in Western Maui about 5 miles north of Lahaina and 5 miles south of Kapalua. Shopping, food, etc., in ample and within walking distance and the bike riding to the north is really quite good. The only thing that would have improved the experience would be deck furniture that was a little more comfortable. But this place is really very, very nice and will not disappoint in any way.

Nice clean first floor condo opens to grassy area to seawall. Genereally pretty quiet, wxcept for the roar of the waves. Access via steps to beach close by; the beach here is submerged during high tide. Ocean bottom is sandy with rocks protruding, and more rocks offshore for snorkeling. Living room/kitchen is bright and cheery. Kitchen is reasonably well equipped, and there were also a few basic spices and coffee items, paper goods, and the like. Good place to cook you own meals (also Bbqs close by). Bedroom is kind of dark, since windows there open to enclosed entry area. About a mile to convenient supermarket, and strip mall type restaurants close by. Not luxurious, but for the price, excellent location, and nice unit, it's a great value.

When we go to Hawaii we want to spend as little time indoors as possible. This condo was a great place to stay for people who are not interested in fancy pants hotels. On the minus side it could use an air conditioning unit for the hotter months and the internet was out. There was no cleaning spray for the counters in the kitchen and insufficient soap in the bathroom for the length of our stay. Finally, the shades on the bedroom window were basically homemade, kept falling down and allowed the obnoxious outdoor passage lighting to beam in at night and keep us awake.

We had the condo for a week. We appreciated the nice welcome basket and the location facing the ocean was great. We literally watched whales jumping out of the ocean right from the patio. We also saw sea turtles come right up to the sea wall. The ground floor location had some access advantages, but was also often noisy with people walking right in front of you and playing catch, etc. in a way that really invaded our perceived space. Nothing that could really be helped. The condo has a nice (though out-dated) kitchen, although some of the teflon pans have deep scratches that are not healthy & should really be replaced. The furniture inside & out was all pretty out-dated and well worn. The condo comes with internet, but we never did get a connection to it, which was a disappointment. The bedroom was small, but we thought the bed was comfortable and storage was adequate for our needs. The furniture in the living area was just not very comfortable - fortunately, we did not spend that much time there. The TV was pretty old and small - which normally would not be that big of an issue since we like to be elsewhere most of the time, but it was the NCAA basketball tournament. We were provided a motion detector, which made us concerned for security, and we discovered it was so sensitive it was an annoyance & we didn't use it - just locked up at night. With noise around us on the lawn, it was just as well. Proximity to Lahaina was good - some nice restaurants and beaches are nearby. We have been to Maui many times, so it goes without saying that Maui is a truly wonderful place, and this is a very nice part of the island to stay. I suspect next time we would stay elsewhere in Maui, although overall, we did have a pleasant time here.

We loved unit 105. Its location was great and the others at the location were very friendly. It brought back fond memories of my stay on the same highway as a kid nearly 40 years earlier. The views every day and sunsets every night were stunning. The first floor location and ability to walk right out onto the lawn and overlook the shore made this condo functionally much larger than its actual footprint. Both adults and both kids (boys 8 and 2) thought it was terrific. The wifi access was a bit odd, with my laptop only occasionally getting a signal, but that was very minor. (After all, if you're on your laptop much with a view like that of 105, you're nuts!)

This unit is tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. However, upon awaking our first morning we were puzzled to see metal poles standing immediately outside the lanai door. Then upon further inspection tools, paint buckets, air compressors, and much more were strewn around the lanai. Since we are travling with a 2 year old this immediately meant that the lanai area was dangerous. At 8 AM a work crew showed up and closed off our access to the ocean-- both from the unit and the steps around the building-so much for all of the promises of ocean and 30 steps to the waves. After telephoning the owner we were immediately offered a 50% discount or the option to move out...considering that a day had already been wasted and we had already settled into the unit and that we had not traveled to Maui to spend all of our time searching for a new unit or packing and unpacking several times. Of course the owner, being an attorney and real estate broker, knew that she was in trouble. There is no excuse for not knowing what is happening at your own unit, especially since the construction had been continuing for several weeks. There are many other units in the same area as well as better locations in Kihei. In general the Big Island has much more to offer compared to Maui.
Manager response:
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the work being done on the property. We were under the impression that you were quite satisfied with our offer of a half-price stay and would certainly have helped you find an alternate accommodation. The fact is that property management did not notify us of this project as they normally do. Had we been aware that work was to take place, we would have notified you immediately and made every effort to accommodate you.

The manager had keys waiting for us on arrival. Everything was in order when we arrived, and we were pleased to learn that the pictures online matched the home. It's actually nicer than the pictures! We had to extend our stay 1 day early and Cheri could not have been more accommodating. Everyone was friendly, made us feel welcome even thoughwe were short term, and recommended things to do and places to eat. I wanted to see whales and sea turtles and we were told to just look out at the water. We saw more whales (at a distance) than we did later on a whale watching boat trip. This cozy unit made our stay in Maui pleasant. As new parents, it was great to feel like we were enjoying it all (whales and Maui sunsets from the lanai or even the couch!) even though we needed to stay close to 'home' much of the time. The parking lot is small so it was so easy to tote baby and gear to and from the condo. We appreciated the nearby amenities as well such as a kids' playpark and supermarket. Having laundry right in the unit was very handy and a feature we will seek out at other destinations. The kitchen was so well-stocked that we even ended up making baby food there (the selection of 'bought' food wasn't great, even at Wal-Mart). Since the whole focus of this review has been the family-friendliness of Unit 105, I will mention that we did have enough room in the bedroom for a crib (great baby rentals on Maui!) but there is no bath tub, only a shower. Lastly, if you do go, make sure to take your garbage out frequently, in just a few days, creepy crawlies will come to visit. We felt so safe letting our little guy play because it's a ground-floor unit. The location is also very handy for setting out for other beaches in the area. We especially recommend taking a snorkel set out to Kahana Bay -the fish were fantastic! :-)

We had stayed in another unit at this location and really enjoyed the area. Found this unit via a google search - ground floor - made the stay much better. Unit contained all the amenities required, very clean and very comfortable. Definitely a possible unit for our next trip to Hawaii as it is close to everything, has access to a good beach, good snorkeling and plenty of turtles. Good location for whale watching later in the year.

A most enjoyable stay at this one bedroom condo. Clean with lots of room for two end equiped with everything you needed. The nice part was the ground floor unit was great for access to the beach area. The patio was in shade for most of the day once you have had enough of the sun. The people we met in the complex were most helpful and friendly. This was our first trip to Maui and we would highly recommend this unit. We just wish we were able to spend more time their, but maybe next time.

I found this rental on the VRBO website and e-mailed the owner for additional info. She responded to my query promptly and helpfully. Everything about check-in went smoothly. The unit itself was about the best located in the condo. Oceanside and very quiet. The unit itself was spotless and had every amenity we needed. Particulary enjoyed swimming with the resident turtle about 50 feet directly in front of condo. Very handy to all services. Pool was always clean and hardly used. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay and look forward to again enjoying our next holiday there.

Really nice owner, gift basket, wonderful neighbors nightly gatherings to watch the sunset. This unit is right on the patio area. Great views of the ocean but limited privacy. Bed was fairly comfortable. The only negative would be the cockroaches. There were lots of them. This is a common problem on the islands. I would maybe consider this unit again but I would make it a point of seeing where the buildings were at with infestations. Again, it happens everywhere over there.

We stayed here for a week in April 2008, our first time to Maui and the first time not staying in a hotel, this couldn't have been a better experience! The condo (105) was just as described, the pictures found on their website (www.alohacondos.com) are exactly what it looked like and we really enjoyed being on the ground floor, just a short skip to the lawn chairs and BBQ. We bought groceries and cooked most of the time we stayed and this was an added plus, the kitchen was fully stocked with pots & pans, dishes, silverware, everything we needed and felt right at home. The condo isn't a part of the Kaleialoha Resort but the staff couldn't have been more helpful in answering questions and giving us information about best places to eat and visit (and so were the other tenants and homeowners). There's no beach directly in front of the resort but made no difference, the snorkeling was good, we had sea turtles not more then 5 feet away and it's a short walk to Black Beach. I highly recommend Aloha Condos and Unit 105, everything was perfect and we're planning another trip this year, will definetly stay here.

What a wonderful restful holiday we had at Kaleialoha Resort #105. The room was immaculate and the Aloha basket was very thoughtful. The well stocked condo had everything you could need, including beach chairs, Boogie Board and something they didn't advertise, a private washer and dryer. The Lanai is about 15 steps to the ocean, where every day we would watch the turtles feeding and the whales breaching. There is a small beach (went swimming there 3 times) but its probably more accessible in the Spring, Summer and Fall. The back off the Lanai is well grassed and lots of lounge chairs for sunning. If you are looking for parties and night life in you place of residence, this is not the place for you. If however you are looking for a quiet well kept little peace of heaven to recharge your batteries, this would be a great place for you to go. For us, it was just a wonderful restful 3 weeks. By the way, the golfing was fabulous. Aloha.

A short drive to Lahaina for excellent tacos and happy hour at the Blue Lagoon. Longs Drugs store is the place to purchase beverages when you run out. Did I tell you about the turtles, hootie the seal and dolphins? Big/huge turtles swim right up to the waters edge, hottie swims by occasionaly and we've seen dolphins in the distance. I recommend this unit 1000%. Have a grrrreat time.

We enjoyed everything about this condo, from the birds visiting on the lanai to the front row seat on the ocean (which crashed over the wall one night - exhilerating!) to the exclusive view, all the amenities and an affordable price. We consider it our home away from home and long to return one day. From our lawn chair perch with feet up on the wall we watched the turtles and whales and soaked the sun and were lulled by the waves and the soft breeze. You will love this place, but I'm hesitant to say so, because the schedule will fill.

We stayed at the Kaleialoha Condos, Condo 412, from 06/14 to 06/22. From the moment we walked in, we were absolutely thrilled. We were greeted with a thoughtful welcome basket, and a fantastic ocean front, ocean view from the balcony/lanai. Seriously, this place is just 30 feet from the water? Maybe just 25. This one bedroom condo was perfect. Costing less than an "ocean view" studio at nearby hotels, it has a separate bedroom which is a must because my husband loves to watch tv until the wee hours and I don't. :) Every afternoon, giant sea turtles swam by, stopping at the reef rocks right down below in front of our lanai to graze on algae...never saw them while snorkeling but saw them every afternoon when I was sitting on the lanai. There was a "noodle" and a ice chest that came in handy in the closet, some beach/lawn chairs, along w/a few other water toys in the hall closet. Two big beach towels were ready and waiting! The condo was very clean, and felt very spacious with all the mirrors. Free wifi, an ac unit when we needed it, though the breeze from the bedroom windows to out through the patio doors was great most days. The grounds are immaculate. Almost every day someone is out washing off the lounge chairs, tables & chairs for the guests/owners. To top it off, when we were out exploring Maui, I kept referring to the condo as "home". That's how nice this place is. It's cute, comfortable, a great deal, and we would definitely stay there again if we returned to Maui!

Where you choose to stay can make or break a vacation, as we learned the hard way when we tried to spend a night at one of the cheaper places in Hana (if $125 + cleaning and tax is cheap). We had a great time at this condo. Perfect location. Great hosts who helped out a lot. Lynne is very prompt and great at suggestions. The condo has been done up well with the Hawaiian theme and the hosts have thought of everything that renters would need. There are board games, guide books, boogie boards, snorkel gear. The only problem we had was with bugs. There was nothing in the apartment to prevent them since the lanai doors didnt work very well. We were hoping we would have been warned about this so we could be more prepared. Wonderful otherwise.
Manager response:
Thank you for your nice comments. We are sorry to hear that you had an experience with bugs. Maui is a tropical climate and as such our condo complex treats for the occasional unwelcome guest (except for the cute little geckos). I am sorry that you did not contact me or my local contact as we would have been happy to have taken care of this for you. We stayed at the Kaleialoha Condo #412 from Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day) to Feb. 19th. What a great way to spend the romantic holiday. The room was exactly as advertised - complete with sunshine!! When I initially inquired on the location, Lynne (the owner) called me on a Sunday to further describe it and answer any questions. Her personal touch is also evident in the room and didn't go unnoticed. There are items spread throughout the condo that make you feel right at home from books to read, a small sewing kit and even a bottle of peroxide in case you cut yourself. We relaxed on the lanai, drank Mai Tais and watched the whales and turtles. This is a perfect location for a Maui vacation and I am recommending it to all my friends and will gladly stay there again on our next trip to Maui. Thanks a bunch to Lynne and Costas for sharing your "home" with us.

The only bad part which was just our bad luck was the people renting the adjacent unit ignored the no-smoking policy and smoked out on their Lanai - pretty much every morning and evening when we were trying to enjoy the view and fresh air. We were chased off the Lanai a number of times because of this and reporting it to the office seemed to make no difference.

Unit 412 was beautifully and tastefully done, but not so fancy that we felt uncomfortable in it. We walked in the door, saw the view, then the Welcome Basket, and immediately felt comfortable, relaxed and at home. Located about 1 mile south of Kahana, and about 5 miles north of Lahaina, it is a very central location to the north-west side of Maui. The sunsets are terrific; the whale-watching is fantastic; the turtle watching is really fun; and the snorkeling is great. What more can a person ask for??? We really have no complaints, only thanks to the owners for having such a comfortable, yet well-appointed condo.

Chatting it up with the permanent residents while grilling your fish at sunset is a real treat every evening. Then end each day falling asleep to the gentle sound of the waves. I recently had the great pleasure to spend 6 days in Unit #412 at Kaleialoha Resort. It is a perfectly appointed unit with an expansive oceanview of Lanai and Molokai. I ate every meal on the lanai to the musical accompaniment of the crashing waves and the incredible vistas of bright blue waters, sea turtles and even a pod of dolphins. At night the moon's reflection sparkled in the water below and hundreds of stars twinkled from above, in a way that can only be seen, when one is far enough away from all the city lights where I live. It was just a dream. The condo's decor is charming and it is impeccably maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with dishware and cutlery. And there are even beach chairs, snorkel masks and ice chests available in the unit, for those who wish to make day trips to the beach. I especially appreciated the Natural foods store and Farmer's Market within easy walking distance. There was wonderful produce and delicious baked goods for sale outside on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And inside the Natural Foods store there was a very good selection of organic foods and products, which was better than any I'd ever seen on my many previous trips to Maui. There was some construction going on at the complex during the day, but I did not find the noise to be overwhelming or intrusive, and the workers were all polite and good natured. The condo's owner was very friendly and helpful and keeps the unit in perfect order. I would definately recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a charming environment, spectacular ocean view and lovely Hawaiian ambiance. It's a gem!

Yet there are lots of restaurants nearby in Kaanapali and Lahaina if you prefer to go out. The view from the lanai was spectacular. This was our first visit to Maui, and we would definitely rent this condo again.
