Great spot

We again really enjoyed this unit and location on the trail close to shopping, the farmers market and restaurants. Great spot

Perfect location

This condo is great! Exactly how it is described! It has a perfect location, view, and extras items you will need for your stay!

Islander on the Beach Condo 224

We had a wonderful stay at this cute little condo. The view from the balcony was beautiful to have our coffee and watch the sunrise each morning. The bed was comfortable, the internet worked great, the shower had good pressure. The owner provided 2 beach chairs and a cooler which we utilized everyday. There are shops and a market right by the condo which was a big plus. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was nice and seemed to have a sufficient amount of pool chairs. We never had an issue any time we were by the pool. There were also some lounge chairs along the beach. The owner was very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again! less

Great view

Great view. Clean Condo

— Lidia, Stayed 04/21/2023

Our little paradise

We had a wonderful time in this condo. We got to watch the sunrise every morning and listened as the ocean waves lulled us to sleep. This was a prime location, food and restaurants were easily accesible. We loved that we could walk to get coffee, our musubi fix from ABC, which we did visit everyday, or Johnny's for some wings. It was also in a middle area for going North to Princeville or heading West towards Waimea Canyon, about an hour either direction. There's also a cute beach cove nearby that's within walking distance, so you don't have to worry about finding parking at a busy beach. The grounds are gorgeous with tropical plants. It was always a treat to see what bloomed that day. Beautiful area and condo. less

View to die for

Hi all, we booked a week here in February, first time in Hawaii. We spent most mornings and occasional evenings on the balcony, watching the ocean, trying to spot whales 🐳 we didn’t see any but we were so chilled looking out, chatting. A very relaxing holiday. The condo itself was pretty basic but for me it was all about that view. Everything we needed was there. less

— Susan, Stayed 03/10/2023

Good location

Very basic studio, old furnitures and appliances. Limited supplies as stated on website. Balcony is good and great water/beach view. Upon arrival you need to pick up parking pass first, and not go straight to unit. Free parking at least. There is 2 sets of snorkel bags, but had not been cleaned from previous guests. Bugs under the sink, and blender had some inside. Coffee machine is very old and cracked and shower curtain was ripped and dirty less

— Teodora, Stayed 02/26/2023

Owner/Manager Response

Thanks for letting us know. We will replace the shower curtains and the coffee pot. Will also pay extra attention for what is under the sink. - Julie

Close to paradise

We really enjoyed this great location in Kauai. It is beautifully located on the trail, Beach and close to town. The sunrises from the balcony while enjoying fresh fruit from the local market and a Kona coffee are incredible. Hope to return Bob

Islander on the beach

Nice location right on the beach. room was okay. Local people were friendly most of the time spent off location

— Patrick, Stayed 10/19/2022

Excellent Stay

We recently stayed in 224 and overall had a great experience. Room is direct ocean front and the views are great. There was some construction of a new wide walkway while we stayed but looked like they were almost finished. Noise was not an issue. The AC worked great as well as the Wifi in the room. Room was well stocked and had a full sized coffee pot and a very cold fridge which was definitely appreciated. When we go back we will definitely consider 224. less

— Robert T, Stayed 07/31/2022

Great spot to stay at

I recently stayed here with my daughter and absolutely fell in love with the place. It is tight in the ocean with a perfect view, beautiful grounds with lush gardens. Great pool and hit tub if ocean is too rough or cold. Condo was clean, bed comfortable. Beach towels and chairs and cooler available for day excursions. All in all great spot, right on the ocean. Close to many amenities and little market as well. less

I was disappointed there was no Kama'aina discount offered. However, the tv quit working on my 1st morning, and by the time I returned that day, they had installed a new one. I was impressed

— Susan, Stayed 07/02/2022

Wonderful Stay

The area was great to stay in. It was in walking distance to se great restaurants and nice grocery store. Best of all was the view, being able to see the beach right out our room was amazing. It was a nice and peaceful place to stay. less

Awesome location!

This experience was even better than I expected. The view is incredible. Nice, clean and comfortable accommodations. We will most certainly recommend and return again! Beautiful oceanfront view and so close to restaurants and shopping. The sunrises are unbelieveable!

— VICTORIA, Stayed 01/16/2022

Great place

Great location. Right on the water. Clean and comfortable. Grocery store and restaurants a two minute walk. We would happily stay here again.

— Grant, Stayed 12/08/2021

Happy with my stay!

I had an ocean front condo and it was clean, convenient and such an AMAZING VIEW of the ocean. I stayed for 4 nights while I was still living in Kauai, and preparing to move to Texas. I now have fond memories of the sand, ocean and breezy evenings at the Islander. less

— Julie, Stayed 06/16/2021

Location, Location, Location!

We are repeat customers to this unit, having stayed here almost exactly a year ago. It is such a relaxing spot (with beautiful grounds) after the stress of a long plane ride. The traffic along 56 is steadily getting worse, so the location means even more to us. Within a short walk is a coffee shop, a take out grill, a lounge, two restaurants, and Coconut Marketplace with more dining options, stores, and a small supermarket. Close by is Foodland with a good laundrymat next to it. Just a little further is Safeway with a good ice cream shop and a good fish taco place nearby. Both Safeway and Foodland have traffic lights for easier access to 56. The condo itself is still perfect for our needs, with a fan and an air conditioner to keep us comfortable. We appreciate the glasses, plates, and silverware included in the kitchenette area so we didn't need to use disposable plates, etc. I would suggest a new plastic cutting board, since that one is getting a little grungy. Otherwise, everything was great! less

— Cordelia, Stayed 03/09/2020

Amazing view, the ocean right out our back door!

2nd floor provided a spectacular balcony view and the sounds of the ocean were so calming. I walked to the beach in 10 seconds! I am all about clean and the room was lacking in that a bit. We moved the couch a little to plug in a phone charger and the floor was literally black. I thought maybe it was a stain, but my husband cleaned it and it was good as new. Overall we were pleased with the room. less

— Shanna, Stayed 03/07/2020

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION

Can't beat the location being up close and personal with the beach and soothing waves right outside the window. Unit is not fancy, but has the basic necessities you need to enjoy your stay. Pool and hot tub at the resort are nice and very "sociable", if you want to enjoy some new friends. Nearby restaurants and shops are all in easy walking distance if you opt not to get a car. less

— Mary Ann, Stayed 02/18/2020

Perfect

Fabulous condo. Great sunset views and great for whale watching. Right on the beach and great shops within walking distance. Would highly recommend.

— Yvonne, Stayed 02/11/2020

Ocean Front

The location is great , the facility is very nice and well maintained, the ocean front room has a fantastic view, only steps from the beach, my only complaint is the cleanliness of the room could be better. The coffee pot was dirty and I cleaned a bit of the doors and the bathroom wall beside the toilet, I also cleaned the beautiful hula girl lamp as I couldn't stand all the dust on it .And could you please change the shower curtain. Otherwise it was awesome and in saying this , we would love to stay again. Mahalo less

— Cindy, Stayed 01/08/2020

Owner/Manager Response

I am glad to report that we have completely clean the unit, including marks in coffee pot. We also changed the shower curtain. Thanks for your kind suggestions.

Amazing Location in need of TLC

The location is absolutely perfect and the grounds were very well kept by the Aston Islander. However the furniture is bit outdated and the unit needs a thorough cleaning. The towels and bed sheets could use a better detergent too :D With upgraded furniture and a better cleaning crew, this charming unit would be beyond amazing!!! less

— AJ, Stayed 12/24/2019

Nice stay

This unit isn't fancy but it has everything you need and an incredible ocean view. The manager was helpful with a couple of questions at check-in. The pool area is nice and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. I'm not sure when we might be back in Kauai, but we'd definitely consider staying here again. Mahalo. less

Wonderful Stay

We love this little spot on paradise and hope to return. Beautiful, peaceful view. The resort was well groomed and felt like a slice of paradise. Great room and had everything we needed. Great location on the Island. We could explore both sides with ease. We highly recommend!!! less

Islander on the Beach Unit 224

We love to stay at the Islander. We’ve stayed in different units here about 7-8 times now. The location is 5-star. However, We were disappointed that this unit was so dated. The dresser, table inside and chairs were so old and worn out. The outside table was so wobbly we constantly spilled drinks. The linens / bedspread were depressing. The floor was dirty when we arrived. The toaster, fridge, and microwave are oldish. The whole unit could use a major refresh. Last time we stayed in a Buckmaster unit - about 3 years ago - we raved about the unit and all the extra towels we got for a week long visit. This time it paled in comparison. No instructions provided on how to operate the TV and cable with 3 different remotes provided. Spent over an hour trying to finally figure it out. Appreciated the newer beach chairs, beach towels, and cooler. less

Oceanfront living in the perfect location

Beautiful, serene unit facing the sea. Was so peaceful to watch the full moon ride out of the ocean be be lulled to sleep by the whispering sounds of the sea. The place was clean and comfortable, and easy to find and access. Kapaa is a wonderful central location on the island with a charming town center filled with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. I look forward to staying here again in the future. less

— Kimberly, Stayed 06/24/2019

Great view, centrally located.

Spent a great week here. Room was nice, enjoyed the AC. Beach chairs and mats were appreciated. Beautiful spot on a beautiful island. Close to several of our favorite restaurants.

Location, Location, Location!

We have worked with alohacondos.com a few times in the past and always enjoyed excellent stays. This time was no exception. You can hear the ocean and watch the sun rise from your lanai! The interior is nicely furnished with the kitchenette thoughtfully containing many useful accessories, utensils and plates. The fan was all we needed and it was very quiet. There is an air conditioner but we didn't need it. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The swimming pool, hot tub, and tiki bar are very pleasant. The immediate beach is not swimmable but that didn't matter to us. The location is a gorgeous setting, and within a very short walk there's the Imua Coffee shop, the Sleeping Giant Grill, and Lava Lava Beach Club which is literally on the beach. Walk south just a little ways and there's a heiau and a little kiddie cove. Immediately to the west is the Coconut Marketplace where you can savor Chicken in a Barrel or buy food, souvenir stuff, etc., at the Country Market. less

Best February Ever!

Winter blues and subzero temps were wearing us down. Long work hours and no sunshine were making us downright grumpy! We needed this bad! We had high hopes and expectations. We were not disappointed! We had an amazing time! The condo was comfortable with an amazing view.  We found the location to be awesome and central to restaurants, shopping and all our planned adventures. The coconut marketplace had everything a short walk away. ABC store, several great restaurants just a short 2 minute walk. Longs drugs a block away. Bring nothing and you'll be fine. Cups, dishes, flatware etc all in the cupboard. Plenty of towels and pillows etc. We would have liked to have a larger screen TV and a softer mattress or topper but these are personal preference items. We spent far more time watching the sunrises on the lanai than watching TV. lol We had everything we needed with the kitchenette and large bathroom. Had a great time! Thank you very much! We hope to do this again every year. Travis and Robbie less

Paradise at your condo on the beach

The condo reminds me of a cottage on the beach. The view is so spectacular; it's actually breathtaking. The room is simple but it has some Hawaiian decor. The bathroom is modern and extremely clean. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven , sink, coffee maker, blender & plenty of dishes, utensils, etc. The owner even supplies 2 Tommy Bahama beach chairs & 1 boogie board. Set your alarm & wake up to a wonderful sunrise without running out the door to the beach. Just look out the window; you're only 40 feet away from paradise. This was our second year at condo #224. I hope next year will be our third. less

Wonderful!!

Beautiful view and great location!

— Kim, Stayed 01/21/2019

Amazing

I gave this 5 stars because it's a pretty spectacular place. Probably 4 stars but location kicks it up a notch! I stayed here for 5 night with my son on a father/son getaway. I rented the same condo that my wife and I rented 2 years in a row because I knew that it is clean and has all the necessary things that we need to visit Kauai. Leaving the slider open durning the night is wonderful. You can hear the ocean waves crashing all night long. The beautiful sunrises from the lanai are great with a cup of fresh coffee. There is a microwave, countertop oven, coffee maker, fridge, sink, everything you need. The beach is almost private! The grounds are spectacular and great for strolling. Being located by the renovated Coconut Market Place is perfect for some gift shops and food items. (Chicken In The Barrel is amazing). I will be back as I decided years ago to quit looking for something better! Enjoy your stay. less

— James, Stayed 11/26/2018

Beautiful Condo

This condo is everything you need for your stay! The condo was clean, had a comfortable bed, and you can not beat the balcony view. We loved waking up to the waves crashing and the sun rising over the ocean. On top of that, Kapa’a is the perfect central town for a stay in Kauai. We enjoyed going to the pool and grabbing a drink at their bar. It is in walking distance to an ABC store, several good restaurants, and shops. We enjoyed our stay so much and hope to be back one day! less

— Jessika, Stayed 11/20/2018

Another Great Stay!

This was our first stay in Condo 224 however we have also stayed twice in the owner's adjoining Condo 225 and all three stays were wonderful experiences. You cannot be any closer to a beach in Kaua'i. The condo's lanai overlooks the ocean and the beach is only a few steps away. There is a pool and outdoor bar onsite and two excellent restaurants and a small shopping center within easy walking distance. The condo has many amenities including beach chairs and towels, an ice chest, extra paper products and garbage bags, condiments, and even sunscreen. The owner has anticipated every need and provided detailed information concerning directions and check-in procedures. The only improvement that we could suggest is providing more cable channels. less

— Brenda and Michael, Stayed 10/06/2018

Amazing and right on the beach!

This condo is such a find! It was very well maintained and taken care of and perfect for me and my husband. It is right on the beach and the owner is super responsive. It’s also in a great area with a small shopping complex, restaurants etc. less

— Tracy, Stayed 08/28/2018

Love the Charming Aloha Decor

What can we say? We return year after year for 2 weeks in either #224 or #225. May 24th to 28th was the best. Julie you have the best 2 oceanfront condos, easy access to sun and shade on the beach or a quick trip back to the room. They are clean, comfortable and they have a safe relaxing atmosphere about them. The kitchen is well equipped for grilling by the pool and dining on the lanai, which we did often, and why not with that perfect romantic ocean view. The sound of the waves and the ocean breeze at night makes for a great sleep without having the air conditioner on. Just wish the fridge was a wee bit larger -- but that won't stop us from our return in 2019. I do appreciate the products so I can tidy up during our stay, after all we are in the condo for 2 wonderful weeks. (wish we could have afforded oceanfront back in 1986 for our honeymoon, back then a room above the lobby was spectacular) we love the place. Thanks. less

— Rod & Fay / N.V.BC, Stayed 06/20/2018

Great location, clean, owner very responsive

This condo is very quiet with a great oceanfront location. Very clean and functional with plenty of towels and the small "kitchen" is pretty well supplied. Only very small issue was that the air conditioner was making a little bit of noise as the vent moved - but I did not ask for help because it did not keep me awake. I don't normally write reviews, but appreciated how responsive the owner was to my queries. less

— Christopher, Stayed 05/14/2018

Great location, outdated condo

What a beautiful location--right on the beach and close to everything you could want in a perfect Hawaii vacation. We loved the pool, hot tub, and bar all right next the ocean. Unfortunately the condo itself was outdated and a bit dirty. The shower head had some mildew on it, the pillow on the couch had a dark red stain, and the light cover over the desk was moldy. The bed was equivalent to a pull out bed--no box spring/mattress, a very cheap and hard mattress. Everything else was nice though, the Lanai was lovely and the updated tile flooring was appreciated. I think we'll pay a bit more next time for a nicer condo, but we enjoyed our week in Kauai. less

— Loran C, Stayed 03/28/2018

Islander on the Beach, Condo 224 - Good unit

We had a nice week in this unit and for sure the best thing about it is the location, which is hard to beat. You are 50 feet from the Ocean and within easy walking distance to good restaurants and shopping. Kapaa is also centrally located on Kauai for touring. As a studio unit, it is not large but was well cleaned and has a nice sized bathroom. Hot water for a shower was good most days but we did have a couple of instances where it was just adequate. The kitchen capacity is limited with a small fridge and no oven or cook-top but we knew that before we booked it. All our dealings with the owner were very professional - no problems incurred. less

— Stuart, Stayed 03/17/2018

Wonderful, wonderful stay at your beautiful condo #224.

Dear Julie, Everything was perfect at your condo. Our eyes opened wide when we saw the gorgeous ocean view out the window. The bed was very comfortable; the couch & rest of the furniture was great. We appreciated the beach chairs, etc. Thanks for all the extras in the kitchen that made us feel at home. When you sat on the balcony, couch , bed or chair it was as if the beach & ocean was right there. We'll hope to return next year. Thank You. less

Review of unit 224

We enjoyed our stay and the location of the unit was perfect. Nice to have a king size bed and the decorating was very nice. Enjoyed watching the ocean from our balcony. The kitchenette was just the right size. A few suggestions and housekeeping issues: The toilet seat was loose and part of the sweep under the door was missing allowing critters to possibly enter. Upon arriving the balcony had not been swept. Grab bars in the shower and a hook on the bathroom door to hang bathrobes would be very useful. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you. less

— William Cunnien, Stayed 03/10/2018

Islander on the Beach

Unit 224, Islander on the Beach is the best. We love the Ocean view and sleeping with our sliding glass door open all night listening to the Ocean. The location is great, walking distance to so much that you don't really need a car. The grounds are beautifully kept up, lots of greenery. The pool and hot tub by the Ocean and Tiki Bar is right there when you are ready to cool off with a MaiTai. We appreciated new linens and bedding. Thanks Julie. less

— Candy, Stayed 02/24/2018

Lovely spot!

Perfect spot to check out Kauai. The balcony was a joy to sit and watch the ocean. There were lots of stores close by to pick up items to eat for breakfast but also restaurants if you don’t want to cook. The second floor was nicer than a ground floor as you had the view and your privacy. less

— Richard A, Stayed 02/17/2018

Great Stay

This unit was as advertised and met our needs for a one week stay. The a/c was broken when we arrived but was replaced with a brand new unit before we left. Owner was very responsive to messages. Unit was reasonably clean when we checked in. Easy check in process. If we are back to Kauai we would certainly consider 224! less

A great Vacation

We very much enjoyed our time over New Years. This area of the island is beautiful and convenient whether you have a vehicle or not. Bike riding is close by with a great trail system. Holiday on Kauai

We spent 2 enjoyable weeks at the Islander and appreciated the extra amenities provided in the condo. Monica was very helpful if we needed anything. Even though we live on the ocean, the sound and view of the roaring surf was wonderful. Mahalo

A fanastic deal!!

This is an excellent place to stay for a very reasonable price. The sound of the ocean right outside when the windows are open is mesmerizing and soothing. The room has everything you need to be comfortable while you get out and explore the beautiful island of Kauai. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Kauai. Perfect!

We stayed in Condo 224 Islander on the Beach Feb. 20 - 27, 2017. It was perfect! The condo was just the right size for us and provided all the amenities we needed and expected. The best part about this condo was that it had a full frontal view of the ocean and is just steps away from the beach. Each morning provides a perfect view of the sunrise from the lanai and the beach. Mornings were so peaceful and beautiful. We left the lanai door open and listened to the waves at night. Both Monica and Julie provided excellent communication and were very responsive to our needs and questions. We had a perfect experience here and if we are ever fortunate enough to be able to return to Kauai, we will definitely stay here again if it is available. Mahalo!!!!! Jeff and Wendy less

EVERYTHING WAS JUST PERFECT.......

WE STAYED IN ISLANDER ON THE BEACH, CONDO 224, FROM FEBRUARY 11TH UNTIL FEBRUARY 19TH, 2017. THE CONDO HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED, TOASTER OVER, MICROWAVE, IRON, FRIDGE & UTENSILS. ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T USE THEM, THERE WERE BEACH CHAIRS AND A LARGE COOLER ON THE LANAI. THERE WAS ALSO A TABLE AND TWO CHAIRS WHICH WERE USED A LOT. SUNRISE IN THE MORNING WAS WONDERFUL. THE VIEW IS SPECTACULAR. THE BATHROOM IS NICE AND LARGE WITH A HUGE COUNTER AREA. THERE WAS SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER AND SHOWER GEL. THE BED IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND THERE IS A COUCH, AND A TABLE WITH TWO CHAIRS. WIRELESS INTERNET WAS WONDERFUL TO HAVE. WE ONLY TURNED ON THE A/C ONCE WHILE STAYING THERE AS THE BREEZE FROM THE OCEAN WAS ENOUGH. ONLY ONE NIGHT OUT OF EIGHT DID WE HAVE TO PARK IN THE COCONUT MARKETPLACE - RIGHT NEXT DOOR. LAVA LAVA IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR AND WE ATE THERE THREE OF THE EIGHT NIGHTS. THEY HAVE MUSIC EVERY NIGHT AND ALSO A VERY GOOD HAPPY HOUR. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF ISLANDER ON THE BEACH IS HUKILAU LANAI, WHICH IS IN THE KAUAI COAST RESORT. DINNER AND SERVICE THERE WAS FANTASTIC. CORRESPONDENCE WAS GREAT WITH JULIE AND I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS CONDO FOR ANYONE TO STAY IN. I LOOK FORWARD TO A RETURN VISIT THERE. less

Great place to stay - islander on the beach

The location of this room was perfect- from sunrise to sunset we could sit on the lanai and enjoy the beauty of the ocean and mountains. All necessities were supplied by the owner. We stayed for 12 days and found the room comfortable, the grounds beautiful and the area convenient. The only criticism we have is that we were charged a hefty cleaning fee of 80.00 after 6 days in addition to the 80.00 after our 12 day stay. Other than that it was perfect! less

— Diana, Stayed 02/15/2017

Love the view

Loved waking up to the sound of the waves, and having morning coffee on the balcony watching the sunrise. Location was good, room comfortable and kitchenette adequate. Had trouble hooking up to WiFi but Lillian had a quick fix for it when we contacted her. The only negative I can say is the bathroom carpet needs to be replaced, other then that enjoyed our time on Kauai, beautiful island. less

— Christine, Stayed 02/06/2017

Great place to stay

We stayed at the Islander Condo 224 for 4 days. It is just as described. The view from the condo is ideal. We sat on the lanai each morning watching the sunrise. The condo was very clean. Shampoo, soap etc were available. Nice pool with a poolside bar. The bed was was very comfortable, it was nice to have a bathtub to soak in after a long day. The location is ideal. 45 minutes to the north side and 60 min to the canyon. The only thing that would have helped at the condo would be access to the laundry facilities. Because we were renting the Coro privately, we did not have access. Overall, this condo was great value and we would definately stay there again. Thanks Julie for being so responsive. less

— Don, Stayed 01/04/2017

Mahalo

We loved this Condo and would recommend it highly. Seeing the waves from anywhere in the room is such a treat. The small kitchen made it easy to make our own breakfast and there are several great places to eat within walking distance. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us, we hope to be back. :) less

Great Room and Experience

This was a very nice room, with beautiful beachfront views (where we can watch the sun rise every morning), easy access to the island's main road (Kapaa is "central" and you can reach most of the island in an hour or less), and a straightforward check-in/out process. The room contained everything we needed for our 4-day stay. The only shortcoming with the room is that it seems too well sealed, such that nothing in the room dries. It also leaves a "wet" smell to the room, which we dealt with by leaving the balcony door open when we were in the condo. One extra plus for the room is its inclusion in the Aston resort. Aston has a few services, and the poolside bar also has live music put on by locals once a week. Overall, we had a great experience. less

First Trip to Kauai & Loved It

Islander on the Beach was perfectly located to explore all parts of the island. Unit 224 had the ocean view we wanted with unobstructed view of the ocean and being able to hear the ocean waves. Parking was only slightly inconvenient. On a 4 night stay, we had to park in the Coconut Marketplace lot once. While the signs said you would be towed, the property said as long as you have the property parking permit, we were fine. The unit itself was clean and well stocked. The decor was outdated, but was not to the point of being a turnoff. It didn't have a stove for light cooking, but it didn't matter to us since we were out from early morning to late at night enjoying the food throughout the island. If you want to cook your own meals, you are limited to a toaster oven and I think a microwave. Visiting in July was quite warm and the AC unit didn't seem to work well unless you stood right in front of it. This wasn't a big deal since we only stayed in the unit to sleep. Our only real complaint is the bed. It squeaks loudly and we woke up stiff each morning. If a bed is high quality for a good sleep, any other deficiencies are easily overlooked. This includes high quality sheets and a modern white or solid light color bed duvet cover. Just a little advice to the owner. The beach at the property was beautiful. Sunrise each morning is priceless. The sand was deep and coarse, and the waves were quite strong. This was fine for my wife and I, but may not be the best for young children. Walking a little farther down the beach, there was a nice area for the whole family. There was a nice pool side bar, pool and shower. Having an ABC store next door at the Coconut Marketplace was very convenient. Longs Drug Store, Safeway, and even Starbucks was just a few blocks away. If you want a delicious oceanfront meal, go to Dukes next to the Marriott Resort. Its a few miles away south of the airport and worth the experience. We had the Seared Ahi and Monchong Fish dinner for one of the best overall dining experiences we've had in a long time. The price of the unit was affordable and fair for an island central location and oceanfront view. We would return in a heartbeat if the unit gets a new bed. This is the only thing that prevents us from returning. If you need a 3-4 star hotel quality decor and features, this may not be the place, but if you are fine with a cozy, clean and budget friendly place to stay while visiting Kauai, we highly recommend it. less

Our best trip ever!

First off, we apologize in being so late after our trip in posting here, Julie. (Vacation was January 20th thru Feb 1, 2016)......So we've been to Kauai before but room 224 made this trip 100 times better than the previous trip! Hearing, seeing, and smelling the ocean waves every single minute that you are in the room is simply magnificent. It MADE the whole trip! The location is possibly the best on the island and the room was clean and in the exact same condition as you see in the pictures. Quite frankly, this was the best vacation either one of has had in our lives and it's all because of Julie's incredible room 224 and it's proximity (50 feet) to the beautiful ocean! Thank you, Julie!!!!! less

Oceanfront worth it

We loved our ocean front room and because of the constant ocean sounds, we never once heard a rooster! Room was comfy but literally the view and closeness to the water was the sell. Kapaa is centrally located to allow full exploration of the island!

Wonderful stay at Islander on the Beach, Condo 224, Kauai

My daughter and I enjoyed 7 nights at Condo 224 in late March, early April, 2016. We expected a "bare bones" accommodation, and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door. Very pleasant art graced the walls; microwave, convection oven, and fridge gave us at-home (simple) meal options; furnishings and bathroom were clean and attractive. We enjoyed an ocean view and trade wind breeze from our second floor balcony. Neighbors were all quiet and considerate. I slept better in the condo than I do at my quiet and pleasant Seattle home. Owner was very accommodating, allowing us to extend our stay by one day. Location was convenient to numerous eateries within walking distance, and well situated for Island car touring. I plan to stay in 224 on future visits, and to recommend it to family and friends who visit Kauai. less

Nice location but needs a major update and a deep cleaning.

Loved having the ocean right out the window. Good central location. The condo needs updating. It was dark and dirty and the kitchen is not very functional. There were grungy looking floor mats everywhere and floors were dusty and dirty under furniture and around edges. We had an issue with the air conditioner and someone was there in a few hours to fix it. Would probably be better off renting through Aston directly. less

Great Place and Location

The condo has everything you need and is close to food markets and eating places. Your right in the middle of the North side and South side of the island. Has pool and bar area and great walking areas.

Exactly as advertised

We found the condo to be exactly as advertised. If you like what you see in the photos, you'll like the condo. The owner responded very quickly to answer questions prior to booking. Upon arrival we found a lot of condensation on the floor and only one bathrobe. We called the on-island contact who answered immediately and assured us we wouldn't be charged for a missing robe (we didn't need any robes). She had someone come mop the floor while we were at the hula show at the Coconut Market Place ($5 leis!). The first 4 or 5 days was EXTREMELY humid. Locals sad they had never seen it that bad. Both the condo and our rental car had great air conditioning. The only downside was the parking. We were able to park in the condo lot about 60% of the time. The other 40% was in the overflow lot on the other side of the Coconut Market Place. We did not use the pool, nor go to the poolside bar. Costco has great inexpensive premixed margaritas and Koloa Mai Tais which we enjoyed on the deck overlooking the ocean. A couple of other opinions I'll share: Eggbert's for breakfast. Good food, reasonably priced, with incredibly fast service. Tidepools had so-so food, over-priced, but in a very romantic setting. Kauai Pasta (Kapaa) has been very good in past visits, but was SUPER horrible in all aspects this time. We'll never chance it again. Monico's was great, as usual. Snorkeled in front of Beach House Restaurant (Poipu) after having lunch there. Food was very good, snorkeling good. Saw the largest turtle I have ever seen, must have had a shell that was 42"-48". I would recommend this condo and will try to book it for future trips to Kauai. less

Good Stay

Location is perfect with restaurants and market place near by. well maintained beach, pool and Jacuzzi. Condo has beach chairs, towels, extra pillows and the kitchen has all the basic items. the view is beautiful from the room. WiFi is good. Not giving 5 stars as the shower and bath tub (though manageable to some extent) needs replacement. Also, it is difficult to find parking space if coming late. Overall, a decent place for a memorable stay in Kauai.. less

Terrific Location at Islander on the Beach, Condo 224

Wonderful location facing the beautiful beach just a stones-throw-away; can't get much closer! The paved walkway (leading north out of town) in front of the unit was a bonus for running/walking and we used it multiple times and were surprised at the amount of whale activity we saw. Islander on the Beach is an older set of units but the grounds are beautifully maintained and the lobby area inviting. The pool, hot tub & nice BBQ area is next to this unit and we used the hot tub each evening. The tiki bar was a fun evening addition, as well. Not much going on at the nearby Coconut Grove shopping area, though there is a great ice cream venue, a few knick-knack shops along with a great hula studio that puts on several performances during the week that we enjoyed. There are also more restaurants than we'd thought, within walking distance. The rooms at the Islander are on the small side, but certainly adequate with a seating area & table with chairs beside the bed. This unit has a toaster oven (yeah!), microwave, full-size coffee maker & blender which we enjoyed. King-size bed was comfy with nice quality sheets. Bathroom is spacious with plenty of towels. A bonus was having 2 beach chairs, cooler, mats, towels, boogie boards & a set of snorkle & fins for days at the beach. Yes, the parking lot gets competitive in the evening, but there were always safe spots close by on the road or at the back of the Coconut Grove. We were glad we stayed in this Kappaa area as it made for great access to both the north & south areas of the island, all of which we visited multiple times. There are a number of venues for getting groceries close-by. Our only suggestions for this unit is to get the tub drain fixed so water doesn't build-up when showering & update bedding & rugs. Overall, we had a wonderful trip on our new favorite island! Julie (owner) was a pleasure to work with in securing the unit. less

Falling asleep to the sound of the waves

Beautiful view of the ocean from the condo. We fell asleep every night listening to the sound of the waves. The property is well maintained. Great central location! We would definitely come back!

Beautiful location with beach front view

Loved our stay. We found two great places to eat within walking distance of the complex which was convenient. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai to enjoy breakfast and fell asleep at night to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Really lovely. The reasons I did not give it (5) stars is that although there was parking, it was a challenge finding a space in the lot after returning from dinner (we parked on the street entering the complex). The room had a slight mildew smell (which is understandable in a humid environment), but I found these issues to be minor to the pluses for our stay. Loved the bartender at the hut near the pool- happy hour prices were great- for a pina colada or other pineapple concoction. Definitely would return and thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd floor beachfront location. Note- be sure to go to the front desk to secure a parking card (we found a notice on our dash and didn't realize a placard was required). We rented bikes one day and rode along the beachfront paved trail. Had the best shaved ice with a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream. Memorable trip overall! less

Worthy of a second, third or more visits

The location of this unit makes it a gem. A dream come true for a landlubber from the Alberta prairies. Watching the waves break and the sun rise everyday from the balcony is the most awesome way to start the day.

Paradise

Aloha Julie and future renters, This condo was amazing! First of all for direct oceanfront I believe this is one of the best secrets on the island and the views were amazing. Not one morning did we miss the opportunity to watch some of the most beautiful sunrises directly from the balcony. Plus if you plan on seeing as much of the island as possible or just want a great central spot this is the place to be. Centrally located on the island from both North and South shores we were able to see the end of every road with ease and still enjoy some of the best food on the island back in Kapaa. I really can't say enough great things about this condo and the Islander in general. Just the perfect amount of amenities and space for a great trip. Room was clean and the kitchen utensils and toaster oven were perfect for early morning breakfasts before we hit the road. Mahalo Again Julie for such a wonderful stay and the extras you included for us that made our honeymoon in your condo absolutely amazing! less

Everything we needed for our three-night stay.

We had a great stay at Islander on the Beach. We especially loved being right on the ocean and sitting on our lanai enjoying the breeze and the view. We found what we needed in the condo and were able to prepare simple meals in the kitchenette. The property had a small pool and hot tub which we tried out once. We were mostly exploring other parts of Kauai and came back to the condo to sleep! We loved the location and there were lots of grocery stores and good spots to eat locally, and Kapaa was a great place to call home base, where we were able to drive up North or down South to explore other parts of the island. less

So Great, I Would Like to Keep It a Secret - Don't Read This, Go

Renting a privately owned condo, found through the web, made me very nervous. What if we got there and it was a bait and switch? Well, all I can say is that we stayed 5 days in Unit 224, and for the price that we paid; it was beyond my best expectations! It is a gem. We found the unit clean, well stocked and nicely appointed. Most of all, however, was the view and location. We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it without hesitation. This unit truly has a million-dollar view! Being on the second floor is great, too. You are up just enough to see over the low dunes, for a full ocean view, and yet feel secure in leaving the sliding glass door open with the screen closed, to hear the surf lull you to sleep. Early risers will love the balcony -- the "lanai" -- to enjoy a cup of coffee, read and watch the sun come up. The location of the unit, in Kapa'a, is also great. It is the perfect distance from everywhere. You will want to go to the south and west side, but you will also want to go to the north coast. Kapa'a is right in the middle. Wal-Mart and Costco are just 15-20 minutes down the road in L?hu'e, where the airport is located. Amenities of the unit include a couple of lawn chairs, and two beach towels. There are a couple of boogie boards on the patio. There are robes in the wardrobe, and plenty of extra soaps and shampoos in the bathroom, which is a nice touch. The air conditioner worked great, but we mainly just left it off, and opened the screen door. Free Wi-Fi was a breeze to access. There are some basic things in the kitchenette, like salt/pepper, silverware, knives, cutting board, etc. There is a microwave and toaster oven. Don't do what we did, and overlook the blender tucked under the sink. Pina Coladas over the rocks are just not the same! If you want to be more sociable, without actually driving anywhere, the Sand Bar at the complex's pool is a nice thatched roof tiki/palapa style hangout. Remember, Kaua'i has DUI checkpoints. less

Perfect!

Stayed here just last week and it was wonderful. The views were awesome. Went to sleep every night listening to the waves. The condo is about the size of a hotel room but you really don't need anymore space as we weren't in the room much! Very well stocked. Thank you for such a great place. less

Relaxing and cozy home on the beach.

We loved living right on Kapaa's East shore in 224. The small room was clean and cozy, and perfect for our sleepy nights after a day out in Kauai. We had issues upon arrival with a dripping air conditioner, however, we were impressed with how quickly it was repaired. The only other complaint was that the in-room safe was not working during our stay. less

Wonderful

Great view. Great service. They quickly replaced refridgerator and were responsive if there were any issues. They should provide more towels though! And have a towel cleaning service included in the price of the condo. If I'm paying that much, it seems like a towel service should be included. less

Wonderful View of the Ocean!

Stayed in condo 224 for 5 nights. we couldn't have asked for a better location to the activities on the island. Condo was well equipped with all we needed to include Beach chairs and umbrella. Unit was a bit cramped with 3 people especially when the couch was pulled out into an extra bed. Couch cushions were a bit stained and could use a cleaning. Even though there were plenty of towels they all had a very musty, moldy smell which was unpleasant when drying off. All in all it was fantastic waking up and enjoying the sunrise off the balcony every morning. less

Beautiful View!

This is the second time that we have stayed at Islander on the Beach. Last year, we were in unit 225 and this year in unit 224. The accommodations are better than hotel room accommodations and the view is absolutely beautiful. The only thing between you and the beach is a sidewalk and a few of trees which provide an adequate/appropriate view of the beach. We will definitely be back! less

lovely view!

we loved room 224. for 2 people is was a great size. and i had to iron a dress and there was an iron and board. the bed was confortable, which is a big thing to me. i loved just keeping the sliding door open to the balcony night and day, just to listen to the waves. that was the only argument i had with my husband, was to quiet the tv so i could listen to the waves! the amenities was wonderful too, the chocolate especially and the 2 bags that i took home. less

— Chris & Jerry, Stayed 05/24/2012

Million dollar view!

As soon as you open the door to unit 224 you are greeted by a million dollar view. It is exactly as pictured and the sound of the surf is a perfect background. The unit has lovely amenities: high quality linens and lotions. The "kitchen" is amply stocked, and plenty of restaraunt choices are within a five-minute walk. I recommend The Fish Hut in the Coconut Market Place, and then you can walk along the beach to burn it off! Hotel staff were very friendly, and they have computers to confirm return flights. One note on the unit: two people would be the limit, and I would have liked a little step stool to reach the glasses and other items on the top shelf of kitchen. less

Great ocean front view

Positives: Exceptionally clean and modern. View is spectacular. Islander has nice pool and hot tub. Grounds are meticulously groomed. Lots of towels and beach accessories. Comfortable bed. Air works perfectly. Liked the proximity to the Coconut Market Place and to Kapaa. Service from aloha Condos was very good.Loved sitting on the lanai with a glass of wine. Negatives: Parking was an issue during the evening when the restaurants were in demand. Condo was small (probably a converted hotel room)and I wouldn't want to stay more than a few days as I like my space. Beach wasn't really walkable or swimable. However, it is just steps from your room. This condo is not suitable for people needing an elevator to access a second story unit as there is no elevator. less

Absolutely Wonderful

Wow! Where to begin? Brevity is the soul of wit, they say, so I say this - stay here. You will not regret it. The pictures do not come close to capturing the ocean view, and you will sleep to the sound of the surf all night long. There were supplies everywhere - from salt, ziplocks and sugar to shopping bags. You will feel welcome, you will feel relaxed, you will be pleased at the cleanliness, you will feel at home, you will be happy. I would move here. (Practically, I will note that if your family is physically larger than two adults and either one more adult or two children it'll be too small. It was perfect for our family of three.) I can't wait to go back! Mahalo! less

Awesome stay in Islander on the Beach Condo 224

We recently travled to Kauai (Nov 2011) and stayed for a week in #224. The room was exactly as pictured on their website and very clean. We were welcomed with a gift bag containing a box a chocolate covered macademia nuts, cookies, a tote bag and a couple of other things. It was waiting on the table for us in the room. The kitchen cupboard had a variety of things not usually found in a condo - storage baggies, tin foil, sugar, paper plates, etc. My husband loved starting each day on the lanai as the day awoke. The view is just awesome! The people who manage the room were so nice - within an hour of arriving, we had locked ourselves out of the room and someone had to come to let us back in. The lady who came was so nice about everything even though it had interrupted her evening. We enjoyed comraderie at the pool bar during happy hour a couple of afternoons. The grounds are well kept up and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort and this room in particular! - Joyce B. less

Great Value

This condo was a great find! The view from the condo is amazing and we loved being able to walk right out to the beach and swim or go swimming in the pool and hot tub right by the condo. Incredible Value in Kauai

We just returned from a week at Islander on the Beach Condo #224. I felt it was an incredible value for a beach front property. The room was clean and well furnished with a microwave, toaster oven, fridge and coffee maker, and kitchen necessities. Also included were beach chairs and a cooler bag. I loved sitting on the lanai or on the uncrowded beach (on property provided lounge chairs) reading. The only negative might be that the water is quite rough so children would probably not be able to ocean swim. But the pool with poolside bar was lovely and never crowded. The property was also conveniently located between the North Shore and Popiu Beach. I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to friends looking for a great Kauai value. less

Good place for a vacation in Kauai !

This was a pleasant stay at islander on the beach. In fact, it is not an appartment but an hotel room, thus more simple. But everything is there : tv, internet wifi, airco, kitchenette, large bathroom, beautiful view on the ocean. And everything for an affordable price. Kapaa is a good place to discover Kauai and a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around. Only one thing : the beach is not really attractive but you take your car and you go everywhere you want. less

We had no problems with how everything was handled. Before our stay, we were kept in touch with regularly by email. Our condo was great. Perfect location

No problems communicating with them. Condo is closer to the ocean than it looks in photos! This studio has refrig., microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, utensils, plates, cups, coffee cups, wine glasses, for 4. Sharp knives, can opener, cutting board & wine opener. Iron, board & hair dryer. P. towels, t. tissue, dish soap, sponge, & toiletries. Towels are thick & soft. 2 beach/pool towels. The bed/linens were very comfortable. There is free wireless internet in this room! Sofa opens to full size bed & table w/2 chairs. Also a table w/2 chairs on the lanai. Bathroom is very good size w/a curved shower rod. The hot water was excellent! Stairs to 2nd floor not bad. Ice machine close by. Air conditioning was great, we cut it off 1/2 the time ast was not needed. This is not a resort with numerous amenities. We weren't looking for that. There is a pool, hot tub, gas grills, beach chairs, poolside bar. The beach is not a swimming beach though we did see people out there. Beach chairs are scattered along the beach area. There is a laundry on site. Parking is an issue at night, security assists you. We went to front desk for parking pass as instructed by security & got that w/no hassle, though we weren't checking in thru aston. Grounds are beautiful & well kept. It is quiet here. We saw a monk seal on the beach 1st morning here! Marketplace is across the parking lot w/restaurants & shops. Grocery stores, drug store, etc., are about a mile away, left side of the hwy. Wal-mart 15 minutes away in Lihue. Location was ideal for us. Is central to the island & made it easier to drive one day all the way north & one day all the way south. Be aware front desk not willing to help you w/anything as they only work w/those who rented through aston. If you are looking for a laid back place w/out posh amenities with great views at a great price, this is it! less

Awesome Condo, Location and Value!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Condo 224 for 7 days and had a fantastic time. The condo was beautiful and super clean. The lanai has a wonderful view of the ocean and sunrise every morning and had a lot of privacy. It really is a "prime" spot to be. The weather was perfect. We only saw rain 2 times the entire week. Breath Taking. Just Heaven!

I surprised my husband on his birthday with this trip. I was scared at first because I have never been and It was our first time in Kauai and but what an experience. We had the time of our life. We we arrived to the condo, it was easy to get in and no lines!! Just walked up to the door and that was it! My husband was amazed by the condo and the view. He didn't believe me when I told him how much it cost per night! We rented a jeep to go exploring and it is worth doing so. The condo was right in the middle of the island and very close to the airport, shopping and activities. We will be back every year. The rate was great and the view for the rate mad us feel rich! It was beach front alright. The coconut markplace had great food and was within walking distance. Recommend going to the store and getting drinks and food items. the condo have a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and a toaster oven. We saved a lot of money by cooking breakfast and lunches. Then we got to sit out on the patio, eat and listen to the ocean waves. The bathroom had a blow dryer too which was good because I left mine at home by mistake!!! All in all, this was the best vacation spot we could have ever planned on having!!! Thanks for the hospitality!!! less
