beautiful resort and condo
The resort is quiet b/c the parking is all in the front. The pool areas are beautiful. This condo is wonderfully decorated and has a great view of the bay. The balcony is not private but is fine for hanging out. The pool and tennis courts are steps away. To get down the beach is a 5 min walk through a pretty tunnel of greenery. The shopping center on the main road would be a bit far of a walk but possible; it's only a 5 min drive.

Best Ever
Great resort with a great view. The grounds of this resort are beautiful and the staff at Aloha condos as well as the resort where very nice and informative. Condo 7308 was comfortable and roomy, decoratied beautiful, and had everything you would need there already. I would definitly stay there again. Great location. Small walk to and from car parking.

A nice, affordable place to stay!
My husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort, condo #1205, in Princeville from March 3 - 6, 2010. We booked our reservation through Kristen at Aloha Condos and were very impressed with her customer service and honest recommendations. The room was exactly as described- newly remodeled, clean, conveniently located, great view from balcony, washer/dryer and a small kitchenette. The only minor issue with the condo was a plumbing mishap that caused the bathroom sink to fill with water when the washer/dryer was in use. We reported the issue to Kristen and was informed the owner would be arranging for a repair at a later date. Hanalei Bay Resort had beautiful grounds and a nice swimming pool/hot tub. The poolside table and chairs seemed a bit run down but we weren't bothered by this since we spent most of our time exploring the nearby beaches. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone wanting a self-service style vacation at a laid back resort (we are in our mid-30's and prefer "do it yourself" vacations). We rarely came in contact with other guests at the resort and heard minimal noise from other parties. For dining in the area, make sure to check out Bubba's Burgers, Kalypso and Postcards Cafe. All in all, a great place to stay!

Couldn't have spent my birthday better!
Our condo was perfect! It was clean and spacious. The service, with the exception of having no restaurant, was excellent. Uncle Mikey was most helpful with a great sense of humor. Previous to our trip Jim was most helpful in answering questions since we had never been to Hawaii before. The resort was very nice; we were not disappointed, although again we would have liked a restaurant. If I travel to Kauai again I may stay somewhere with more of a central location unless I plan not to drive as much as we did in this trip. We thoroughly enjoyed all the tours and hikes we went on and various beaches we visited. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

Spectacular!
This condo blew away our expectations. We absolutely loved it. It was spotless and everything was brand new. The entire place was well decorated and the lanai was beautiful... we spent hours on it every day! The owners left a great supply of beach supplies and we made good use of the laundry and dishwasher. It was perfect and we hope to make it back!

A Wonderful November Babymoon!
Who knew November in Hanalei Bay would be so wonderful! We had an absolutely fabulous stay at the resort and our condo #7307 was as perfect as we had hoped, for a good off-season price. Beautiful views every morning, well kept, secluded and yet close to everything the resort had to offer. All the amenities one could need... and we will absolutely be back. Perhaps with the little one! Thank you Hanalei Bay Resort!

Amazing, relaxing spot for two
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort Condo 4324. It was an affordable way to get away to paradise! The room was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The view was outstanding! We spent many hours on the Lanai resting, reading, and relaxing. It was quiet and felt very private. That alone was refreshing. The bed was adequate and there was a small refrig, microwave, coffee machine and toaster for breakfasts or leftovers. The resort's restaurant, the Happy Talk Lounge, was actually really good and had decent prices for Hawaii. They had good entertainment there just about every night and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The pool at the resort is top of the line and Condo 4324 is really close to the pool and everything else, especially the beach. The beach area was perfect. You can snorkel right at beach, or go out a little bit to catch a wave on one of the calmer days. If you brought a bunch of stuff down and don't want to carry it back, no problem! There's a phone at the base of the trail that will call the front desk. They'll send a cart right on down to pick you up and take you wherever you want. We stayed a week there, came back refreshed, and would be more than happy to stay there again!

Nice little place!
The room was nice and clean. Recently updated. We had some ants in the bathroom but nothing too annoying. Also, there was a gecko or lizard of some sort living inside. We saw him and once or twice. The bed was comfortable. And the view of the lanai was nice. The resort is in a nice location. It is a little hard to get in and out of. And it a 5 minute drive from Hanalei. The beach is short walk down the hill. And it was pretty decent, and fairly quiet. The pool and hot tub are very nice. Best pool that we had out of the 3 places we stayed on Kauai. We got a fall price on the room which was very nice. I still do not understand this business of an out clean fee!!! I think it is the biggest rip off on the island. What hotel do you stay at where they charge you for cleaning the room when you leave?! Isn't that supposed to be part of the rental fee?! Seems like a nice little scam to get some extra money. When I shopped for rooms in that area, almost everybody had that, so good luck getting out of it.

Paradise Found
My husband and friends were pleasantly surprised to find HBR Condo Unit 6303-4 aesthectically pleasing on the inside as well as the out. The view of Bali Hai, from this unit, has to be one of the best and we appreciated the great location in proximity to the beach, bar and parking lot. This condo has that "home away from home" appeal with obvious updates and recently painted freshness. Nice little updates that were appreciated included quality bedding,huge TV viewing,a well equipped kitchen and appropriate stemware for those nightly lanai Mai Tai's. Thanks to the owners for thinking of the needs of your guests. We'll be back 2011!

Spectacular View of Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay
From the moment we walked into the condo, we knew it was spectacular. The view from the Lanai overlooking the mountains of Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay was just spectacular. The condo was very well equipped with beach towels, snorkeling gear, beach equipment, tennis rackets and all the kitchen supplies. All the family loved the beautiful pool and tennis courts. The Happy Talk Lounge was perfect for evening glasses of wine overlooking Bali Hai. Thank you very much. We had a wonderful time. Mary

Great Condo at Hanalei Bay Resort
Having read about the differences between all the vacation condos at Hanalei Bay Resort, I knew I had to pick the exact one I wanted to insure great accommodations for my family. I found this one online. There were many photos and videos, so I knew exactly what I was getting for my money. The unit was exactly what I expected with a spectacular view and new updates. No bad surprises. It was also very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. We will certainly return to this unit to enjoy the quiet and the amazing view. We never got tired of that view!

There was even a drying rack in the condo for our wet suits and towels, along with lots of extra pillow! The view from the condo is far more fabulous in person. It was breathtaking to wake up and see how close Bali Hi was and to see the most beautiful rainbow soaring in the sky! The view is far more closer than it appears online. The condo location was great! Only a half a minute to the pool, restauraunt and tennis courts. The beach is stunning and just a short 5-10 minute walk down the hill. There was a call box at the bottom, close to the beach in case you wished to have a ride back up. Unfortunately during our stay the main restaurant was closed at the resort and also at the St. Regis next door. We ate one night at the lounge on the resort and were not very impressed with the food. Beautiful condo and resort to stay at with restaurant, shops, and a grocery store within a 5 minute drive. Hanalei Bay is approximately 10 minutes away and has many more shops to offer. ”

The view FAR surpasses the photos - the ocean is much closer than it appears in pics and you can hear the pounding waves as you watch the sunset over Bali Hai from the balcony every night. We arrived in the dark and literally gasped at the view the next morning once we realized how awesome it was. The condo company was easy to work with and left a great gift basket in the condo. Directions were perfect, check in took 2 minutes, property was gorgeous and totally renovated, pool/jacuzzi luxurious with waterfalls, walk to beach was 5 minutes on a neat path through the trees. The beach was gorgeous! (And we are from Florida!) St. Regis next door has wonderful restaurants that you can use as well (Jean Georges Kauai Grill was awesome.) North shore is the BEST! I cannot imagine staying on the south shore once I've seen the north. Incredibly beautiful, not crowded or touristy, and the Princeville complex is great. Super running trails, nice mixed use community (houses, villas, condos, resort, golf courses, playgrounds, good grocery store, etc.) Hanalei town very close with many good restaurants too. Easy to drive all over the island as it is small but renting a car is a must. We travel a lot and highly recommend this place! Absolutely FABULOUS condo in a ridiculously wonderful setting! :) Don't think twice - book it! We'd return in a heartbeat! ”

“ Easy check-in at around 5 pm. Room was on the top floor, clean and adequately equipped. Bed was very comfy and spacious. Great view from lanai. Storage space for clothes somewhat limited and could use another dresser. Entertainment unit shows its age and there is only a vhs player. The room is not well insulated from the adjoining unit and noise can be heard. Rosters are also noisy after 3 am but that is just Kauai charm. Resort was clean and well maintained. 4 tennis courts looked great, other two not that great. Pool looked nice but ran out of time to use it. Overall, highly satisfied for the price paid. ”

The grounds are stunning, the views are incredible, and the pool is perfection - with its secret cave behing the waterfall. The condo itself is just right. It's decor is perfect - with it's ethereal canopy bed. The bathroom is spacious. There's a mini fridge and all of the toys you need for Kauai - boogie boards, umbrella, beach chairs, and beach towels. The view from the huge sliding doors puts it over-the-top. Bali Hai in the distance and Hanalei Bay in the foreground makes for stunning sunsets. Next time I visit Kauai, I will come back to the same place. The HB Resort is a dream. Oh, and I almost forgot the bar. Happy Talk is perfect for snacks and awesome mai tais. Plus, they have live entertainment - including hula dancing! I seriously spent weeks trying to decide where to stay on Kauai. It was worth all of the research, this place is #1. So stop looking and book it :) ”

The large pool was absolutely incredible. The complex was spotless. We stayed in unit # 7308 which had an incredible ocean view, however the only draw back was that it was way down the hill that was very steep. But, with a simple call to the front desk, a shuttle was there in seconds to take you to and from to any where in the complex....I don't ussually take the time to write these evaluations, but for this location I felt that I owed them the recognition that they well deserve. There are many nice beaches, gardens and restaurants close by. The room was clean and had a view to the beach. In the resort there are swiming pool facilities for families with children to relax. They had a nice view from their balcony. We also had a great rental experience with Chuck at Aloha Condos. He stayed in good communication with us during and after the rental. The room was clean, comfortable and just like the photos we saw on the Internet. Even though the studio condo has no kitchen, there is a small refrigerator and microwave. With the dishes and utensils provided and the use of a community grill we were able eat in more than out. Dinner on the lanai of fresh grilled seafood with a sunset over Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay was fantastic. HBR, as the locals call it, is a beautiful property. The landscaping is very mature and well kept. My friend, who grew up in Florida and was familiar with many of the plants, marveled at the size of them. We heartily recommend 7308 at HBR. It is a great place for couples and a bargain at today’s resort prices. Aloha. ”

Terrific Little Condo

At first we thought it might feel small and cramped like a hotel room, but it just did not. We are photographers and divers so you can imagine we had LOTS of GEAR! There was room for everything without making us feel cramped. I was impressed with the oceanview and location over the pool. I had not stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort before, and just loved this property! It was lushly landscaped and offered spectacular views of the famous Bali Hai mountains from rooms, restaurants and lobby. Sunsets were spectacular. I can highly recommend this unit (and Resorts!) to any couple wishing for a romantic getaway at an extremely affordable price. You don't expect to get so much for so little in these times! Thanks for such a wonderful place to stay in Hanalei, we will be back!!! ”

Nice Aloha package with water, coffee, nuts & tote bag. View was beautiful of property front facing Hanalei bay, had glimpse of water, huge rainbow 6AM, pool no slides but nice size & not crowded. Happy talk loung was ok w/ nice view. Front desk courteous not knowledgable of instructing persons who is responsible for what (cleaning/maintenance. Refrigerator needs light bulb, sink needed fixing,cleaning of lanai, iron, etc.Despite how this may sound our stay was very good here and glad it was available. Will stay again. Previous to our trip Jim was most helpful in answering questions since we had never been to Hawaii before. The resort was very nice; we were not disappointed, although again we would have liked a restaurant. If I travel to Kauai again I may stay somewhere with more of a central location unless I plan not to drive as much as we did in this trip. “ WE had an A+ vacation time @ this condo in Hanalei. Jim the owner really goes out of his way on welcoming us w/ a basket of goodies. (coffee,chocolate,etc). It was a very nice touch. There were also plenty of spices in the kitchen,papertowels which we would normally buy if staying in the condo. The kitchen is well equipped.The condo has modern, nice furnishing w/ gigantic fans in the living room & bedroom,flat screened tv & beautiful lanai (balcony) facing the mountain view. This condo has the best view, as it's facing the mountains, it was quiet & very private. The night before, it rained heavily & when we got up the next morning, we had the pleasure of viewing 21 waterfalls, Thanks to the binoculars that Jim had. ( Boy, he thinks of everything.) The service at the resort was great. We enjoyed our dinners & entertainment @ the restaurant. The resort is close to Hanalei town where all the nice restaurants are & ofcourse the Hanalei Bay. The gift basket was a VERY welcome touch and helped while we oriented ourselves. Little things like dishwasher and laundry detergent, beach chairs, towels & mats, lots of linens, games and video library, and a very useful little library helped. The information folder/binder was immensely helpful and something we'd not seen before. The bedroom setup was excellent. We could sit in bed and watch the flatscreen TV or just enjoy the view. Beautiful lanai that we didn't use nearly enough! In-room laundry and a second bathroom came in very handy. Beautiful well thought out decor with just enough kitch to bring charm and that "lived in/loved" feeling while being remarkably clean and uncluttered. We had almost no daytime rain until the next to last day when a tropical storm hit the North Shore dropping 17 inches of rain in Hanalei in 24 hours. Thank God we were on the Princeville side of the Hanalei bridge which got washed out. All of this in the middle of a beautiful resort with tons of amenities and a incredible private beach walk at remarkable value for the money. It was an incredible way to start to our honeymoon. We'll definitely be staying here again. ”

The North Shore of Kauai is lush and beautiful and being 5 minutes from the town of Hanalei is great plus there are plenty of beaches nearby to explore. The Princeville shopping center is right up the road from HBR, so groceries, gas and anything else you may need is close by. I look forward to returning. ”

The location couldn't be better, close to all the wonderful beaches on the north shore and the hike of the Napali Coast. We discovered Hideaways Beach, which turned out to be our favorite. There were lots of fun restaurants nearby, but our favorite was one night at the Happy Talk Lounge. Great food, drinks and a band we could have listened to for hours. We will definitely be back and will plan to stay here again. Thanks to Jim for allowing us to stay in this great place! ”

“ When we arrived at the Hanalei Bay Resort, we knew exactly where to go so proceeded to our condo. As we live on the south shore of Kauai, we came up weeks prior to our visit to do a preview. The double end unit was quiet and private, which worked out perfectly for us, since we had massages scheduled on the outside lanais. This condo worked out great for the three of us; my husband and I took the master and our niece slept on the murphy bed. We each had our own full bath which was so convenient. The one issue we did have, was the master bath fixture in the shower. It was very difficult to use and get the temperature right, without a lot of fiddling around. The kitchen was very well equipped and had all the cooking utensils we needed. It even had a spice rack, but we were a bit disappointed not to have any salt or pepper. The other complaint we had about the kitchen was the overhead light. It was so hot that we could not use it while we were in the kitchen. Perhaps replacing the bulb with a CFL would solve that problem. Overall, we loved the unit and would stay there again if the opportunity should arise. ”

The bath fixtures in both showers have been replaced with new fixtures and shower heads. I've also re-caulked the tub in the master bedroom side.
There is now salt & pepper in the condo as well.
This is the first time that I've had a complaint about the light in the kitchen - it's a 100 watt halogen. We've recently replaced a dimmer switch with a regular switch because the switch was in the way of the refrigerator door. I didn't find it hot while living there six months but if I continue to get complaints I'll put in a dimmer switch again.
The kitchen now has a new very high-end (according to my plumber!) faucet as well.

“ The indefinite closure of the restaurant and lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort has been clearly stated on the Aloha Condos Website resort and condo pages since December 2008.
This guest booked in February 2009 and I am sorry that she didn't know about the closure.
The remainder of the resort continues to be maintained and this is the first comment that I've heard to the contrary. When I lived in my condo from July 2008 - February 2009, the level of resort maintenance was the same as I had seen since I bought my condo in 2000.

The only slight drawback was that we wished it was a little closer walk to the beach, but you can't have it all at this reasonable of a price (it is about a 10 minute walk down the step paved path to the beach). It had a well stocked kitchen, and we cooked several nights. The owner thoughtfully provided many videos for the two TVs, beach equipment to use, and had written very thorough island guides for his guests. As we were traveling with our two teenage children, we really enjoyed having two rooms and two baths. The Hanalei Bay Resort was beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed the beach, tennis courts, and pool. We also enjoyed the view of waterfalls from our two balconies. This part of the island was not as crowded as the southern end, which was nice. We would definitely recommend Hanalei Bay Resort and this particular condo again, and look forward to coming again ourselves! ”

This is actually two adjoining units so you get two full baths, two large rooms (one like a standard size hotel bedroom and one which is all comfortable living area with a pull-down murphy bed)and two lanais. You also get a washer & dryer, full kitchen area and tons of extras. It's fully furnished with all the amenities one would need in the home. Plus there's a great collection of videos, games and books and CDs. There are also beach/pool toys and a cooler for use. The view of the falls is beautiful and peaceful. It's just a short path to the awesome pool. Very quiet and private. The unit is absolutely clean and very well kept. I'm an arachnophobe and I never saw one bug and believe me, I was looking! I really can't say enough about this place. I saw other "rental" units in the complex and this one simply outclasses them. We were forced to make some late schedule changes and the owner was very accommodating and couldn't have been more understanding. I'll be back! ”

The beds and furniture were very nice as well as the linens. Thank you so much for the use of the beach chairs, sunscreen, boogie boards and everything else that was in the closet to borrow. That was very helpful. The kitchen was very nice and had most all of the things we needed. GREAT PLACE If I had to suggest something it would be a movie library and possibly another cabinet in the kitchen to store staple good like salt/pepper, bottled herbs and spices, cooking spray, soy sauce, oil and things that have a long shelf life. We would definitely rent this unit again. ”

There was a really great view of the ocean from the extremely large balcony! It was neat being there in winter to watch the huge 30+ foot waves crashing. The condo itself was great. There was a fully equipped kitchen with just about anything you would need to cook with. The washer and dryer in the unit were really fast and worked very well! Also, I would really like to come back with friends and family, there was easily enough room to sleep 6 people in the condo. There were two what looked like at least full if not queen beds in the loft, the couch folded out into a queen bed and the king sized bed in the bedroom. Besides the condo, the grounds themselves were fabulous! They have a gorgeous pool, a really nice heated spa, a really nice restaurant with great food, live entertainment every night, an amazing gorgeous beach with a really cool jungle path you have to go down to get there, excellent friendly and fast service, what more can you ask for?!?!?! The area surrounding was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There was so much to do right in the condo's backyard. A 10 minute drive brought you to really neat sea caves or stunningly beautiful rivers and beaches. There were kayak rentals really close by too. Overall I had a really excellent time and would recommend this condo to any of my own friends or family! ”

The tempurpedic bed in the main room is a luxury, especially when combined with the song birds and the view of the bay and mountains at sunrise. It is obvious that a lot of thoughtfulness and care was put into the accomodations. The location in the resort is great, not too far to walk to the car, and close to the main pool. I would gladly stay here again and again. The only downside to staying on the north side of the island is that it takes a long time to drive to the other side. Kristen was a pleasure to work with, and extremely helpful and professional. Thank you for allowing us a magical stay! We hope to be back soon. ”

It was pretty quiet when we were there during the low season in October, but that suited us just fine. The weather was hot and sunny. Let me start by saying we are not condo people or had not considered being the type before our stay. We arrived at night and were amazed at the quality and decor of the condo and touched by a welcome basket filled with goodies and wine. In the morning I opened the shades and literally gasped at the most breathtaking view I had ever seen. The picture from the website does not do it justice, the view is AMAZING. The condo owners thought of everything from snorkel gear to candles every detail they included was so nice. We had a wonderful honeymoon and fell in love with the north shore! When you envision Hawaii this is it!!! We did have some issues with the dishwasher and drain in the bath but the condo was getting an overhaul the day after we left. Advice: 1. Have your breakfast and happy hour at sunset on the lanai. 2. Go to the fish market and grill for dinner 3. Zip line or hike. 4. Postcards Restaurant for a lovely meal. and 5. R E L A X ”

We enjoy cooking, and the kitchen had everything we needed (and more) to prepare meals. The BBQ centre was very convenient to the condo. Eating on the lanai was wonderful with the incredible views. The beautiful lanai furniture was one of the many highlights of this condo, with raised table/chairs to maximize the view, and comfy lounge chairs. The in-unit washer/dryer was nice to have, although for those renting a studio unit, there is a laundry facility just a few steps from this building. The king size bed was very comfortable. Both the living room and bedroom had a full wall of windows/patio doors to take in the magnificent views of the bay and Bali Hai. In all of our travels I don't think I've stayed anywhere with a view as beautiful as this! The owners have thought of just about everything for guests' enjoyment, with boogie boards, beach mats, umbrellas, cooler, etc. The resort itself is very nice ... beautiful landscaping/gardens, impressive & large free form pool with waterfalls, and nice lobby where the Happy Talk Lounge is. There are 8 tennis courts spread out throughout the resort. The walk to the beach down the paved path takes about 5 minutes .... it's a bit of a workout coming up, but we liked the exercise, and for those who want a ride, there is a call-box at the bottom to call for a shuttle to the top. Can't wait to go back! ”

We enjoyed many meals out on the lanai. Not only did we have a gorgeous view of the Hanalei Bay but also a view of Bali Hi and the waterfalls coming down from the mountain. We also enjoyed the short drive to several beautiful beaches. Our only disappointment was the fact that the Bali Hi Restaurant and Tiki Lounge were both closed for remodeling at the time of our stay. The locale is nice, though, right on the Bay overlooking Bali Hai, and the beach area, shared with the Princeville Resort, is quite nice. It's a servicable facility -- clean and all appliances (including AC) worked well. Since we were out touring most of the time, it was fine for our purposes. ”

It's always a good idea to leave your foodstuffs in the fridge while in Hawaii but if a previous guest party had left out any food, that would explain why they came back looking for more.
We've contacted our cleaning services and maintenance and they've taken care of the problem and will continue to monitor to make sure the little guests don't come to visit our future guests.

“ My wife and I stayed here for a few days during our honeymoon on Kauai, visiting from Manhattan. It was very clean and comfortable. The Resort is a great, more 'classic kauai' small nook in princeville. 707 was nicely furnished, a very comfy bed, and a lanai you won't forget anytime soon. The restaurant that is situated here and in many guidebooks was not yet open. But that would have added a lot. The people that worked here were very nice and accommodating. You definitely feel like you are on a resort instead of just a condo. Keep in mind although the pier at Hanalei Bay is right around the corner on the beach, if you try and walk there you will probably cut your feet on coral trying. (yes i did). It's very rocky beach below the hotel and it's really best for snorkeling or sun tanning. Once the St. Regis opens later this year, and the main HBR restaurant opens then you would really be set here. Recommended. ”

We spent many hours on the Lanai resting, reading, and relaxing. It was quiet and felt very private. That alone was refreshing. The bed was adequate and there was a small refrig, microwave, coffee machine and toaster for breakfasts or leftovers. The resort's restaurant, the Happy Talk Lounge, was actually really good and had decent prices for Hawaii. They had good entertainment there just about every night and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The pool at the resort is top of the line and Condo 4324 is really close to the pool and everything else, especially the beach. The beach area was perfect. You can snorkel right at beach, or go out a little bit to catch a wave on one of the calmer days. If you brought a bunch of stuff down and don't want to carry it back, no problem! There's a phone at the base of the trail that will call the front desk. They'll send a cart right on down to pick you up and take you wherever you want. We stayed a week there, came back refreshed, and would be more than happy to stay there again! ”

We also stayed at a nice bed and breakfast on the South Shore and at the Sheraton in Poipu but this was, by far, our favorite place. Kristen, at Aloha Condos was very organized about confirming dates, payment, and sending directions. There was a large welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, which left us feeling very appreciated. The room was beautifully decorated and furnished with an incredibly comfortable king sized bed, an impressive marble bathroom, plush rug, and a great view. There was just enough kitchen equipment to cover all out needs (eating breakfast in the room, storing and packing our own lunches, and reheating dinner leftovers). The resort itself is in the perfect spot for exploring the north side of Kauai (better than the south in my opinion), it has a great pool, and breathtaking views. The resort itself it about to undergo extensive renovation so it can only get better. We liked the room so much we wished we had spent out entire vacation here. I highly recommend it. ”

The room was clean, large, and met all of our needs. There was even a mini-fridge and microwave so we could keep drinks and snacks in the room. We were totally fine with no frills like room service or daily maid service. It was worth the cheaper prices when compared to other nearby hotels (e.g., St. Regis Princeville Hotel which was next door). The hotel property was very quiet and so relaxing! An employee told us the hotel was 80% full, yet we rarely saw other guests. The pool was fine and we enjoyed the 5-7 minute walk to the beach (the path winds through the trees behind the hotel). Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We loved our room and when we return to Kauai we will certainly try to stay in this same condo at the HBR. ”

They had a workable set up for a no kitchen unit with a closet that had coffee maker, microwave, toaster and some dishes. There was a dorm size refrigerator which allowed us to store wine and stuff for Mai Tai's and breakfast fixings. This is what we like and it was lovely having breakfast and drinks enjoying the beautiful view. The teak deck lounges were so comfortable you could take a nap. When the weather was good, it seemed perfect. When it rained hard and we couldn't get out so much, it seemed too small. I'd stay there again, especially if it wasn't the winter. We got very lucky and had mostly good weather. ”

“ The room was nice and clean. Recently updated. We had some ants in the bathroom but nothing too annoying. Also, there was a gecko or lizard of some sort living inside. We saw him and once or twice. The bed was comfortable. And the view of the lanai was nice. The resort is in a nice location. It is a little hard to get in and out of. And it a 5 minute drive from Hanalei. The beach is short walk down the hill. And it was pretty decent, and fairly quiet. The pool and hot tub are very nice. Best pool that we had out of the 3 places we stayed on Kauai. We got a fall price on the room which was very nice. I still do not understand this business of an out clean fee!!! I think it is the biggest rip off on the island. What hotel do you stay at where they charge you for cleaning the room when you leave?! Isn't that supposed to be part of the rental fee?! Seems like a nice little scam to get some extra money. When I shopped for rooms in that area, almost everybody had that, so good luck getting out of it. ”

The resort had some issues, the small pool near the condo was not usable, the spa was broken, the restaurant and bar were closed for renovations and the beach was not very nice and right next to ongoing renovation/construction at the neighboring Princeville hotel. ”

The major renovation of the Princeville Hotel converting it to a luxurious St. Regis Hotel is scheduled to be complete in October 2009.
The NE corner of the two-mile crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay Beach that we share with the Princeville St Regis Hotel is great for snorkeling, swimming, exploring, and relaxing. In October 2009, it will return to the incredible beauty that earned it the #1 spot on “Dr. Beach” Stephen P. Leatherman's 2009 list of top 10 beaches. He has compiled the list annually since 1991. ”

“ This rental was spectacular. The location is minutes from Hanalei Bay and the ocean. It is a nice resort and the unit has everything you could want: well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, great view from the lanai, videos and books that feature the area, tennis courts, a beautiful pool and spa and much more. The resort will drive you to your car if you request a golf cart, so you don't have to exert yourself too much. I loved it and highly recommend it. ”

I found this one online. There were many photos and videos, so I knew exactly what I was getting for my money. The unit was exactly what I expected with a spectacular view and new updates. “ We (family of five, three kids ages 18 - 24) recently returned from a most glorious vacation at Hanalei Bay Resort. The views were astonishing and ever-changing. The resort property reflected the lush and beautiful landscape of Kauai--the swimming pool like a tropical lagoon, the tennis courts artfully placed, the units tucked inside the hillsides, the beach just a short, but hilly, walk away. (For those who have difficulty walking hills, golf cart transportation was available at any time). Resort staff were very friendly and helpful. The unit itself was CLEAN and beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we needed, from dishes, cookware and ipod players to beach towels, laundry soap, boogie boards and zip- lock bags. The beds were extremely comfortable, providing us all with deep and restful sleeps. Every day we lingered over morning breakfasts and evening refreshers on the deck, soaking up the views, the sounds, and aromas of the tropical paradise. The resort's proximity to the charming town of Hanalei, to fantastic beaches, hiking, zip-line adventures, kayaking and dining made it a fabulous haven for those of us seeking adventure and relaxation. Our unit was very quiet--no one was staying immediately adjacent to our unit. But if they had been, I could see that deck conversations might not be totally private or quiet if adjacent units were booked. However, other residents seemed to be very friendly and respectful. Also, the resort restaurant was not up and running- --not a problem for us as we either cooked our own meals or ate at nearby restaurants. To conclude, we felt we had won the jackpot and definitely would return to this very same spot. We wish we could go back next week! ”
