Great family vacation rental.
This condo is extremely well equipped and spacious. We spent a week at the condo with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We loved the views from the condo, air conditioning option, flat screen tv's, washer/dryer, nothing is missing in this condo. The resort is also a plus, we used the pool, bought grilled sandwiches at the pool cafe, and attended yoga classes. Our only complaint would be the walk to your car. This condo is the furthest location from the parking lot but don't let that stop you from renting this condo unless you have issues with walking. They do have attendants driving in golf carts to drive you back and forth from your room if needed.

Perfect Honeymoon!
My husband and I recently stayed in Hanalei Bay Resort Condo 1557-58 for our honeymoon. We loved the HBR and the location. Last time we were in Kauai, we stayed further South. We loved staying further north. It was easy to get in and out of. Our condo was beautiful! It was clean and had everything we needed. We were so excited when we discovered the beach chairs in the closet, we toted them everywhere! Perfect for the two of us! The view of the mountains and Bali Hai was beautiful! We spent a lot of time on the Lanai, it was awesome! The pool at the condo was great. The staff was friendly, we really appreciated them driving us to and from the beach. It is a long, steep walk. Overall, we loved and would consider both the HBR and 1557 & 58 again!

Fantastic vacation spot and amazing views!
What a wonderful place to stay! The fantastic views and luxurious living quarters made for an excellent stay. It is spacious, comfortable and relaxing. Not to mention the incredible views you have, which hosts some of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen. The location is wonderful and centrally located to amazing beaches, attractions and activities. It is an perfect paradise getaway, with everything you need close by! I would love to come back here and I would highly recommend this to a friend!

Great view, great resort
My wife and I stayed at Hanalei Bay 4323 during our honeymoon. The condo was beautiful. The view was unmatched. I can't imagine staying anywhere nicer for the price. The grounds that the resort, and the resort staff in general were excellent. Everything was very well kept, and the pool and hot tub were never particularly crowded. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend renting this unit, or staying at this resort to our friends.

We really enjoyed our stay at this condo and we would definitely stay here again. The view from the balcony was amazing. The king bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean and offered many ammenities. The bathroom was spacious and updated beautifully. It was a bonus to have the vaulted ceiling and air conditioning. The condo exceeded our expectations. The resort could not be in a more beautiful area on Kauai. The pool was great and the grounds were so lush and tropical. It was very quiet and peaceful during our stay. The only disappointment is that the resort no longer has a restaurant on the grounds.

Our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort was very relaxing and comfortable. The room was nicely decorated with all the necessary amenities. The view of the bay from our balcony was picture perfect and the pool at the resort was a delight. We would definitely stay at this location again. It made for a laid back, worry free vacation. Only things I would change is to include internet access in the room for a more reasonable fee than they offered through the resort and have music in a common area occasionally to add some fun. Really wonderful place though if you're looking for a relaxing vacation and aren't into the uppity hotels/resorts.

Palms 4324 was a small hotel unit with an awesome view of the bay! No kitchen facilities, only a microwave and small refrigerator, and adequate bowls, plates and utensils for 2 people. Air conditioning worked well except it didn't make it to the bathroom. That got very hot. We could have used some more drawer space...or packed less! Very comfortable overall with, again, an awesom view!

This is a beautiful room! Definitely one of the best rooms at Hanalei Bay Resort. The only draw back is the kitchenette is limited (this would not be an issue if you are also renting 4323 as the kitchen is out of this world!). The bed is extra comfy. The bathroom is gorgeous. The management company was excellent. On top of it all the pool area is fantastic and the beach area is very nice too. Views of Hanalei Bay are stunning. This place is even better if you rent the adjoining condo 4323. No question, we will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort Condo 4324. It was an affordable way to get away to paradise! The room was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The view was outstanding! We spent many hours on the Lanai resting, reading, and relaxing. It was quiet and felt very private. That alone was refreshing. The bed was adequate and there was a small refrig, microwave, coffee machine and toaster for breakfasts or leftovers. The resort's restaurant, the Happy Talk Lounge, was actually really good and had decent prices for Hawaii. They had good entertainment there just about every night and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. The pool at the resort is top of the line and Condo 4324 is really close to the pool and everything else, especially the beach. The beach area was perfect. You can snorkel right at beach, or go out a little bit to catch a wave on one of the calmer days. If you brought a bunch of stuff down and don't want to carry it back, no problem! There's a phone at the base of the trail that will call the front desk. They'll send a cart right on down to pick you up and take you wherever you want. We stayed a week there, came back refreshed, and would be more than happy to stay there again!

The room/condo (one room with microwave, mini fridge) has been beautifully updated. It has a great view of Hanalei Bay with a lovely deck. The king bed was new and very comfortable. Price wise--this met our needs. The resort itself is a bit run down and overgrown. Be prepared to walk to the unit; or ask for a ride on the golf cart--they were always happy to do this for us. I would recommend unit 4324 for two people! It met our needs just perfectly!

If you love the north side of the island and Hanalei town is your thing, than this is the place for you. A short walk from your room and you are on the most secluded beach...for now, until the St. Regis opens back up. Great views from the balcony and relaxed island decor make this an ideal room for two. Decent bathroom and plenty of room. The resort overall could use a place to dine and relax, ie bar, but you are so close to town with many options. Don't miss Bar Acuda, best place to dine! The pool and tennis courts are an extra bonus if you have time. Have stayed at this resort over 10 years ago, each room is unique and I will request this one again.

I can't rave enough about this amazing condo at Hanalei Bay Resort. We also stayed at a nice bed and breakfast on the South Shore and at the Sheraton in Poipu but this was, by far, our favorite place. Kristen, at Aloha Condos was very organized about confirming dates, payment, and sending directions. There was a large welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived, which left us feeling very appreciated. The room was beautifully decorated and furnished with an incredibly comfortable king sized bed, an impressive marble bathroom, plush rug, and a great view. There was just enough kitchen equipment to cover all out needs (eating breakfast in the room, storing and packing our own lunches, and reheating dinner leftovers). The resort itself is in the perfect spot for exploring the north side of Kauai (better than the south in my opinion), it has a great pool, and breathtaking views. The resort itself it about to undergo extensive renovation so it can only get better. We liked the room so much we wished we had spent out entire vacation here. I highly recommend it.

This condo was perfect for our honeymoon. The view of Hanalei Bay from our lanai was absolutely amazing and we ate breakfact every morning out there. The room was clean, large, and met all of our needs. There was even a mini-fridge and microwave so we could keep drinks and snacks in the room. We were totally fine with no frills like room service or daily maid service. It was worth the cheaper prices when compared to other nearby hotels (e.g., St. Regis Princeville Hotel which was next door). The hotel property was very quiet and so relaxing! An employee told us the hotel was 80% full, yet we rarely saw other guests. The pool was fine and we enjoyed the 5-7 minute walk to the beach (the path winds through the trees behind the hotel). Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We loved our room and when we return to Kauai we will certainly try to stay in this same condo at the HBR.

We liked the resort and pool even though the restaurant was closed. There was a really good lunch barbaque set up at the pool that was very reasonable priced and yummy food. The room was nicely furnished although smallish. It smelled a bit musty. For the price,$99.00 per night, it was a great value. They had a workable set up for a no kitchen unit with a closet that had coffee maker, microwave, toaster and some dishes. There was a dorm size refrigerator which allowed us to store wine and stuff for Mai Tai's and breakfast fixings. This is what we like and it was lovely having breakfast and drinks enjoying the beautiful view. The teak deck lounges were so comfortable you could take a nap. When the weather was good, it seemed perfect. When it rained hard and we couldn't get out so much, it seemed too small. I'd stay there again, especially if it wasn't the winter. We got very lucky and had mostly good weather.

The views from this condo are superb! It was like having our own private mountain vista with gorgeous greenery, majestic mountains and stunning waterfalls after the rains... and a few chickens. ;) Jim has done a superb job in anticipating our needs with tons of little extras. The gift basket was a VERY welcome touch and helped while we oriented ourselves. Little things like dishwasher and laundry detergent, beach chairs, towels & mats, lots of linens, games and video library, and a very useful little library helped. The information folder/binder was immensely helpful and something we'd not seen before. The bedroom setup was excellent. We could sit in bed and watch the flatscreen TV or just enjoy the view. Beautiful lanai that we didn't use nearly enough! In-room laundry and a second bathroom came in very handy. Beautiful well thought out decor with just enough kitch to bring charm and that "lived in/loved" feeling while being remarkably clean and uncluttered. We had almost no daytime rain until the next to last day when a tropical storm hit the North Shore dropping 17 inches of rain in Hanalei in 24 hours. Thank God we were on the Princeville side of the Hanalei bridge which got washed out. All of this in the middle of a beautiful resort with tons of amenities and a incredible private beach walk at remarkable value for the money. It was an incredible way to start to our honeymoon. We'll definitely be staying here again.

The Hanalei Bay Resort is great for relaxing and offers plenty of options from the huge lagoon style pool, beach, tennis courts and golf. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. HBR is a little tricky to find if you are arriving at night. The North Shore of Kauai is lush and beautiful and being 5 minutes from the town of Hanalei is great plus there are plenty of beaches nearby to explore. The Princeville shopping center is right up the road from HBR, so groceries, gas and anything else you may need is close by. I look forward to returning.

The only complaint is the resident rooster(s) who makes announcements throughout the day amid the other tropical birds which can be irritating to one who is trying to rest or want to focus on the other birds who sign rather than cockle doole doo. Other than that, this is the best alternative to an oceanfront condo.

The next morning, however, as we lay in bed and gazed through the wall of windows at the stunningly beautiful view we were so glad to just relax and not have restless kids saying, "So what are we going to do?" It was tempting to go nowhere on the island other than the condo. Just a short walk to the beach, tennis courts, pools, restaurant, close to a grocery store, and just a short drive to spectacular sites. When we arrived at the Hanalei Bay Resort, we knew exactly where to go so proceeded to our condo. As we live on the south shore of Kauai, we came up weeks prior to our visit to do a preview. The double end unit was quiet and private, which worked out perfectly for us, since we had massages scheduled on the outside lanais. This condo worked out great for the three of us; my husband and I took the master and our niece slept on the murphy bed. We each had our own full bath which was so convenient. The one issue we did have, was the master bath fixture in the shower. It was very difficult to use and get the temperature right, without a lot of fiddling around. The kitchen was very well equipped and had all the cooking utensils we needed. It even had a spice rack, but we were a bit disappointed not to have any salt or pepper. The other complaint we had about the kitchen was the overhead light. It was so hot that we could not use it while we were in the kitchen. Perhaps replacing the bulb with a CFL would solve that problem. Overall, we loved the unit and would stay there again if the opportunity should arise.
Manager response:
Thank you for your comments.
The bath fixtures in both showers have been replaced with new fixtures and shower heads. I've also re-caulked the tub in the master bedroom side.
There is now salt & pepper in the condo as well.
This is the first time that I've had a complaint about the light in the kitchen - it's a 100 watt halogen. We've recently replaced a dimmer switch with a regular switch because the switch was in the way of the refrigerator door. I didn't find it hot while living there six months but if I continue to get complaints I'll put in a dimmer switch again.
The kitchen now has a new very high-end (according to my plumber!) faucet as well.

The indefinite closure of the restaurant and lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort has been clearly stated on the Aloha Condos Website resort and condo pages since December 2008.
This guest booked in February 2009 and I am sorry that she didn't know about the closure.
The remainder of the resort continues to be maintained and this is the first comment that I've heard to the contrary. When I lived in my condo from July 2008 - February 2009, the level of resort maintenance was the same as I had seen since I bought my condo in 2000.

The owner has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make everything as easy as possible, with everything well setup and lots of thoughtful touches. Very scenic view of Hawaii, with cute little birds often hopping on to the private balcony to check us out. And of course a top location, just moments away from all the good stuff.

Beautiful vistas views from our balcony. Right on the beach. This unit had every amenity known to man, all the perks a person would need or want. My husband and I still talk about our stay here even 8 years later. We would recommend this place and this unit to everybody. And we would love to stay here again if we ever make it back to the islands again. The people we dealt with were very accommodating as we had a specific 3 day window to stay here and everything worked out perfect for all involved. Thank you so much for the romantic 3 days your unit gave my husband and myself.

We stayed at this condo with our two young children. The condo is in a great location: close to the pool and restaurant, and it's very quiet and peaceful. The furnishings are very nice, and our kids loved the Murphy bed! The Hanalei Bay resort is a wonderful resort; the only complaint was the temperature at the main pool was freezing! But the grounds, pool, and small kids sandy area of the pool are just gorgeous. It's nice to go to the Princeville Resort beach, just down the path. I would highly recommend this place, especially for the value. You can't rent a condo for this price in Hawaii and get this level of quality or location.

Very comfortable and well appointed. This unit affords a spectacular view of the forrest and mountains. The lovely leni is private and very enjoyable after a day on the beach or sight-seeing. Incidently, the resort has a magnificant "natural" swimming pool and oustanding, out-of-doors hot tub. The beach at Hanalei Bay Resort is wonderfull and is very suitable for wading, swiming and scuba diving.

The restaurant on-site is lovely and the employees are very friendly and helpful. The owner of this condo Jim is the nicest guy and will help you arrange your stay. We would LOVE to come back, hopefully by the end of the year. AAA +++ You will not be disappointed. Listening to the birds on the lanai was soothing and the view of the tropical plants and trees was spectacular. The beach was probably our favorite. Great spot for our son to play. It does rain alot on this side of the island, we spent a few days hanging out in the room. Warning...the mosquitos are baaaddd! We ate in the restaurant one night and were attacked by the lil creatures. Overall it was a wonderful experience and would love to go back.

We love the indoor/outdoor ambiance of the hotel lobby and the lushness of the surrounding countryside. This was our second visit. The condo is an end unit, was nicely furnished, convenient to the central area, but not exposed to noise from the public areas. We would return to this location if we visit Kauai again. The owner was easy to deal with and seems to be oriented towards customer service. Wi-fi service worked well.

This unit has a spacious feel inside because of the lay-out. I felt that the unit was a great value for the price when I compared it to other similar units. This place was actually even more reasonable than most units in Ocean City, Maryland near our home (way over priced any more). The view out the deck is quiet with a great garden and mountain view that adds to the private feel of this unit. The Hanalei Bay resort location is an excellent amenity. The only slight drawback was that we wished it was a little closer walk to the beach, but you can't have it all at this reasonable of a price (it is about a 10 minute walk down the step paved path to the beach). Overall, an excellent value for the price and amenities.

We enjoyed sitting on the balcony every morning and listening to the sounds of Kauai. I might also mention some friends of ours rented a unit in the same building and were very impressed with our accommadations. They even paid a much higher price than we did. We stayed in this wonderful condo in last June. The condo was very clean, well equipped and a good location within the resort - close to the tennis courts, main pool and front desk area. It had a well stocked kitchen, and we cooked several nights. The owner thoughtfully provided many videos for the two TVs, beach equipment to use, and had written very thorough island guides for his guests. As we were traveling with our two teenage children, we really enjoyed having two rooms and two baths. The Hanalei Bay Resort was beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed the beach, tennis courts, and pool. We also enjoyed the view of waterfalls from our two balconies. This part of the island was not as crowded as the southern end, which was nice. We would definitely recommend Hanalei Bay Resort and this particular condo again, and look forward to coming again ourselves!

The rooms are much nicer and seem more like home than the normal hotel rooms. The prices are very affordable as well. I don't even think of staying in a different place when I plan a Hawaiian vacation. I always think about Aloha Condos first. You also get a washer & dryer, full kitchen area and tons of extras. It's fully furnished with all the amenities one would need in the home. Plus there's a great collection of videos, games and books and CDs. There are also beach/pool toys and a cooler for use. The view of the falls is beautiful and peaceful. It's just a short path to the awesome pool. Very quiet and private. The unit is absolutely clean and very well kept. I'm an arachnophobe and I never saw one bug and believe me, I was looking! I really can't say enough about this place. I saw other "rental" units in the complex and this one simply outclasses them. The condo was very nice, with fantastic views of Hanalei Bay. It was well equipped and comfortable. The resort had some issues, the small pool near the condo was not usable, the spa was broken, the restaurant and bar were closed for renovations and the beach was not very nice and right next to ongoing renovation/construction at the neighboring Princeville hotel.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and staying in our lovely condo.
We are sorry that the small pool and spa were not usable during your stay. They are now repaired and working. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We do hope you enjoyed the other large tropical pool at the resort with waterfalls.
The Happy Talk Lounge was re-opened on July 13, 2009, but the restaurant is still closed.
The major renovation of the Princeville Hotel converting it to a luxurious St. Regis Hotel is scheduled to be complete in October 2009.
The NE corner of the two-mile crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay Beach that we share with the Princeville St Regis Hotel is great for snorkeling, swimming, exploring, and relaxing. In October 2009, it will return to the incredible beauty that earned it the #1 spot on "Dr. Beach" Stephen P. Leatherman's 2009 list of top 10 beaches. He has compiled the list annually since 1991.

This was an amazing condo. It is much more impressive in person than the pictures on the website. When you walk in , you are awe struck by the beautiful view of Hanelai Bay. The condo has a bar high table with 4 comfy bar stools on the lanai. We would sip our morning coffee, looking out at Hanelai Bay. One minute their was a light rain, and the next minute the sun was out and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow. This condo is totally updated I loved the beautiful granite kitchen with every convenience We stopped at Cosco, by the airport in Lihue {across from the mall} and stocked up on good wine, fish and steaks. We enjoyed grilling most nights and catching the sunsets as we ate dinner on the lanai. The pools were nice we enjoyed the circular pool, {very private} and at the large pool you could get grilled burgers from 11-2.We loved Hanelai Dolphin and one day picked up ahi and sushi to take back and enjoy on our lanai at sunset. Postcards and Mediteranean Gourmet are also good choices for dining out. We had a fun Saturday morning going to the farmers market in Hanelai {we loved Sal's salsa} .Their are great beaches, you can walk down to the beach at the resort,{if you are lugging alot beach cairs boogy boards, call for a tram to take you down to the beach, and you can call them to pick you up[ this beach is shared by the St Regis} The St Regis has a luau on Thursday nights and we enjoyed having a drink listening to great jazz and enjoying their spectacular view {that's on Sunday at 4} We did zip-lining at princeville ranch and that was a fun adventure. We can't wait to get back to this beautiful resort.

The only problems I could see would be for people who are elderly. The resort is very hilly and hard to walk. Also, if you want immediate beach access it is a little bit of a walk. We enjoyed the walk to the beach, there is some great scenery. Also, the hilly walking didn't bother us as we are active. I wouldn't let it defer you from staying here even if you don't like walking. They have people with golf carts that will take you anywhere you want to go. In total we were on the islands for almost 3 weeks - the stay at you place was the top. We would have liked to stay longer, but our return flights were booked, as was the Condo (people who know apparently recommend this Condo, which we are also doing to friends of us who want to come later this year.) the arrangements and booking through Mrs. Kirsten Greene and the immediate support when we had arrived has our great appreciation. HBR/Bali Hai Restaurant being closed during our stay and the prohibition on getting drinks by the pool were our only complaints. We stayed at Hanalei Bay Resort condo #4323 (Oct 2008) after being upgraded (moved) from a smaller lock off room due to being informed that both the restaurant and lounge had been closed. This was our honeymoon after being married days previous at the Grand Hyatt Kauai south shore which we stayed for the week. Let me start by saying we are not condo people or had not considered being the type before our stay. We arrived at night and were amazed at the quality and decor of the condo and touched by a welcome basket filled with goodies and wine. In the morning I opened the shades and literally gasped at the most breathtaking view I had ever seen. The picture from the website does not do it justice, the view is AMAZING. The condo owners thought of everything from snorkel gear to candles every detail they included was so nice. We had a wonderful honeymoon and fell in love with the north shore! When you envision Hawaii this is it!!! We did have some issues with the dishwasher and drain in the bath but the condo was getting an overhaul the day after we left. Advice: 1. Have your breakfast and happy hour at sunset on the lanai. 2. Go to the fish market and grill for dinner 3. Zip line or hike. 4. Postcards Restaurant for a lovely meal. and 5. R E L A X

The views from both the main lanai and the master bedroom lanai were breathtaking. Having a full kitchen was so nice; we bought fresh produce at the farmer's market a short distance from the condo, as well as fresh fish from the two local fish markets. We enjoyed many meals out on the lanai. Not only did we have a gorgeous view of the Hanalei Bay but also a view of Bali Hi and the waterfalls coming down from the mountain. We also enjoyed the short drive to several beautiful beaches. Our only disappointment was the fact that the Bali Hi Restaurant and Tiki Lounge were both closed for remodeling at the time of our stay. We would stay at the condo again if these amenities were available.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at HBR in #4323. The owners have put much effort and care into their condo.; it is beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable, well equipped, well maintained and very clean. We enjoy cooking, and the kitchen had everything we needed (and more) to prepare meals. The BBQ centre was very convenient to the condo. Eating on the lanai was wonderful with the incredible views. The beautiful lanai furniture was one of the many highlights of this condo, with raised table/chairs to maximize the view, and comfy lounge chairs. The in-unit washer/dryer was nice to have, although for those renting a studio unit, there is a laundry facility just a few steps from this building. The king size bed was very comfortable. Both the living room and bedroom had a full wall of windows/patio doors to take in the magnificent views of the bay and Bali Hai. In all of our travels I don't think I've stayed anywhere with a view as beautiful as this! The owners have thought of just about everything for guests' enjoyment, with boogie boards, beach mats, umbrellas, cooler, etc. The resort itself is very nice ... beautiful landscaping/gardens, impressive & large free form pool with waterfalls, and nice lobby where the Happy Talk Lounge is. There are 8 tennis courts spread out throughout the resort. The walk to the beach down the paved path takes about 5 minutes .... it's a bit of a workout coming up, but we liked the exercise, and for those who want a ride, there is a call-box at the bottom to call for a shuttle to the top. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this condo. The views from the lanai were spectacular. The the condo was tastefully decorated and comfortable. It was worth every penny! My only regret... I wish we would have stayed longer!!!
