Fantastic! The best vacation!!
It was probably the best vacation we've had in ages!!! The condo was spacious, which was great as we have three teenagers, and we didn't feel like we were falling over each other. I absolutely adored the sound of the ocean at nights and sitting on the lanai very early in the morning having breakfast. We were within short walking distance to Kahaluu Beach Park as we loved the snorkeling there and it was great being provided with boogie boards and snorkel gear so we didn't have to buy those items. Shopping was close by too. With all the fabulous beaches and exciting things to do, we regrettably ran out of time to try out the tennis courts. Our only complaint is that our time was too short there and we can only dream of getting back as soon as possible!

Sunset dinners right by the ocean.
A beautiful condo right on the ocean. We had dinner every night on the balcony, looking at the sunset. It was great. The condo is cleaned and well stocked. The shore by the condo is rocky but the public beach is an easy five minute walk away. The snorkling at the beach is very good. One downside is there's not a lot of privacy in the master bedroom. There's a path between the ocean and the condo and the bedroom only has a very light sunscreen. The moveable wall between the bedroom and the living room is paper thin. Overall, a very relaxing place. Recommended.

Great Condo - Awesome View
This condo had an amazing ocean view and was extremely clean. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would most definitely stay here again when we come back. Everything was perfect and even the lanai chairs were extremely comfortable.

Beautiful and comfortable
Beautiful location, very clean, comfortable beds and full kitchen. Right on the water! Beach towels, ice chests, chairs, umbrellas, sand buckets all there. Good movie and book collection too. Very quiet since it is in a gated area. This was well worth the reasonable price, and we will use it again if we are lucky enough to go back to Hawaii. Dealing with the owner and manager was very easy, and they were very friendly.

Great Oceanfront
This townhome was perfect for our stay with children. Check-in was simple and it was easy to find, even at night. The location was great, and you are truly right on the ocean like the pictures show. We did not need the a/C as the ocean breeze was enough. The view is amazing from the main bedroom and hearing the waves and seeing the ocean when you wake up was a highlight of our trip. There were a lot of amenities as listed on the website and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and more. It was very convenient having coolers, beach towels and beach toys available for use. Our favorite part of our stay was walking on the beach right outside the backdoor. The only thing we didn't like were the blinds in the living area (a couple of slats were missing and they fall out when you close them). We would definitely return here and recommend it to our friends.

The villa was clean, comfortable and exceeded our expectations
We will be back! The only disappointment was that the tennis court's were under renovation during the time of our stay. But still this did not spoil our stay. Thanks

A relaxing getaway to the 'Big Island'
My stay at this resort was fabulous! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a great place to relax while enjoying some amazing sunsets and listening to the ocean waves crash against the lava rock from the comfort of the Lanai. In a great location this condo offers easy accessibilty to Queen K and/or ali'i Dr. to travel around the island if you so choose. An easy walk to a local shopping center that offers groceries, a movie theater, pharmacies and more. This is a condo to consider when traveling to the Big Island.

Fantastic Stay in Condo 1-301
We (two couples) spent 10 fabulous days in February 2010 at Keauhou Kona Surf and Recquet Club Condo 1-301 and we all agreed that we picked the perfect spot and the perfect accommodation. This unit is awesome! We had plenty of space for 4 adults, although we spent very little time inside. If we weren't off exploring the Big Island, we were sitting on the wrap-around lanai enjoying the fantastic views - sunrises, whales, porpoise, sunsets, the crashing surf. Waking up to and falling asleep to the sound of the surf can't be beat. We really miss it. And the evenings were very comfortable with the ceiling fans and wonderful breezes through the windows and sliders. We appreciated having a full kitchen since we cooked most dinners (at the BBQ where we met many of the wonderful neighbors). All the beach gear - snorkels, masks, fins, coolers, towels, chairs, swim shoes - was also greatly appreciated. The owner has provided many amenities that I doubt other rentals provide. The close proximity to the grocery and drug store was a plus, and the best snorkeling was a 5-minute walk away. I would highly recommend this unit and will book it again if we return to the Big Island. A couple of activities we did that we would recommend to others: night time snorkel with manta rays (arranged through Snorkel Bobs with Neptune Charlies) and zip line adventure with Big Island Eco Adventures (made me feel like I was 10-years old again!).

Staying in paradise
This is the second time we have stayed in this condo. It feels like coming home. They always have a complimentary gift basket waiting for us. We didn't have to go to the store when we got in late at night. They had fruit, giant muffins, jams & coffee. The place is clean, quiet & well equippped. They have everything you need to go to the beach, picnic, snorkle, buggy boards, & a guide book for touring. Thanks for a wonderful time! Aloha! Till we meet again!

Perfect place for a week on the Big Island
We enjoyed our week at #176 immensely. Check-in was trivially easy. We found the condo perfectly clean and bug-free and well-furnished for our needs. The ocean just outside our window, an ideal mall 2 blocks away in one direction and the best snorkeling beach 2 blocks away in the other direction. Let's see, what can I say on the negative side for objectivity's sake? disfunctional wine opener (we replaced it), couldn't get 1 of the 2 LR CD- players to work (just needed an instruction book), 1 of the 5 closets had jammed doors (wouldn't have used it anyway). We're now eager to return to the Big Island and hope to stay in #176 again.

Spacious 2 bedroom condo directly at the ocean, only the sand beach is missing in front of the door. But nice beach close by. We found a lot of extras (cooler, snorkel gear, boogie boards, ...) in the closets that made our stay very comfortable. Kitchen fully equipped. Grocery store and restaurants nearby. Pool and barbecues available, but we never used it.

We really appreciated the waterfront view and ground floor location. There were lots of water "toys" for us to use. The grounds were lovely, lots of birds and flowers. The ancient ruins on the site were a bonus. The proximity to Kahaluu Beach was great for snorkeling. The kitchen was a little dated and the smell from the sink was not good. The gift basket for the first morning was really appreciated.
Manager response:
As the Owner of the condo, I always make sure it is in top condition for my guests. The condo is checked by my contact person and cleaned for 3-4 hours by the cleaning person upon guest departure, and is additionally checked again before the next guest arrives. If anything is not perfect, out of place, smells bad etc it will be detected before the next guest arrives. Contacting my cleaning person and contact person did confirm these facts. Sometimes it is possible, while a guest is staying at the condo that things may happen to cause something to be not be quite right. For this reason, I have paid a local contact person to always be available by phone for the guests to take care of any problems that may arise. Please contact this person, whose name and contact number is listed in the condo, and is additionally sent by email to my guests before arrival, if any problems should arise.
I'm not sure what" dated" Kitchen refers to, but I can state that the kitchen has been recently updated to include all new major and small appliances, resealed kitchen cabinets, a new state-of -the -art brushed nickel sink faucet, paint etc. The kitchen counter top is tile and not granite, so maybe this is "dated" to some people. However I do know that the kitchens in many new homes on the mainland are still installed with tile.
Also, please keep in mind the kitchen photo on the web site in older (October 2009) and does not reflect the current state (many updates in April 2010).

My wife, three daughters, and I stayed in KKSRC Condo 5-103 for a week in April and would definitely stay here again on a future visit. With the off-season rate, we were able to stay in this beautiful, 2 Br oceanside condo for little more than a room in a typical chain hotel on the mainland. The condo was clean and comfortable with beds for 3 people in the second bedroom (fifth person didn't have to stay on a hide-a-bed). The unit is ground floor and right next to the ocean. We ate our meals at the table on the lanai to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for the cooking we did. A gift basket from a local vendor was a nice touch. The condo includes coolers for your day trips, beach chairs and towels, a couple boogie boards, a couple sets of snorkeling gear - we pretty much just had to provide food. The condo is just a minute or two away from a shopping center with a grocery and a drug store, which is very convenient. Also, it is located just a minute from Kahaluu Beach Park, which has great snorkeling. We saw more variety of fish here than on our snorkeling expedition. Communication from the owners was great, from clear information regarding billing and policies to the instructions for getting into the unit. As I said in the title, a great place to stay on the big island.

This has to be one of the best views on the Kona coast for a very reasonable price. The owner has gone to great lengths to offer amenities for the guests, providing beach towels, snorkels, tennis rackets, boogie boards and more. No longer do we have to stuff these toys in our luggage. The condo is well furnished, even with a washer and dryer and excellently maintained. Everything worked. We especially enjoyed the lanai where we ate our meals with the million-dollar view. We will be back!!!

Condo 5-103 was a wonderful experience. It was well equipped with many needed items such as beach equipment, dishes, towels, etc. and had 3 TV's as well as great wireless internet. The only thing preventing me from rating it 5 stars is the dated condition of some of the condo. The second bathroom needed some work, the kitchen was a little dated, we had issues with the vertical blinds. However, it was clean and well stocked, as well as having an excellent location so we over-looked those minor issues. All in all I would very much recommend this condo to others.
Manager response:
We are always trying to keep our condo in the best condition possible for our guests. So per some suggestions, just did some renovations to the condo that have included some updates to the kitchen, including a new ceramic top range. I have also installed new easy to use bamboo blinds for the master bedroom and living room and added a paddle style ceiling fan/light in the lanai, plus many other fixes and improvements (including a spotting scope for the guest's enjoyment).
Thank you to all the guests for your feedback and all the great reviews!

Absolutely perfect! The condo was COMPLETELY stocked and in a most private location. The grounds staff was so helpful and kind and did a great job keeping everything lush and beautiful. The condo was so inviting and comfortable for our family (3 adults & 3 young children). But it would also make a very romantic escape, minus the kids. We rarely return to the same place twice so that we can experience new places. This is one exception. With out a doubt we would go back again and again. Listening to the surf lull you to sleep and watching whales from the lanai were just two of the many incredible things we enjoyed here. They had everything you would at home from beach and snorkel gear to office supplies and laundry dryer sheets, it's all here! We really appreciated the welcome basket, it was nice to have local farmers market items like fresh fruits and muffins to hold us over until we could get to the store. If you are considering staying here, go for it, you won't be disappointed. Check out the blowholes along the shore just a minute walk towards the golf course, during high tide the water really shoots up!

Even with three children age 12,12 and 16 the condo offered enough space. The swimming pool was very nice and the nearby snorkelbeach was perfect. We highly recommend this condo. It's a bit out of town and the parking is about 75 yards from the door, but it easily accomodated two couples, was nice and clean, and the management company was most helpful. There was somebody parking in our parking space when we arrived, but they took care of it right away and we had no other problems at all. We did not use the tennis courts, but they looked as if they were well maintained. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Let me first say that I spent many hours looking for the perfect Kona accomodations, and I found them in unit 2-203! From beginning to end, Steve was professional and made our trip flawless and fabulous. This condo is clean, spacious and the view is to die for! We watched spinner dolphins and beautiful sunsets on the lanai - the ocean was so close you could almost reach out and touch it! For the price, this condo can't be beat! We had hair dryers, and every emenity you can imagine. Even the cooler and ice packs for our picnics! We vacationed with our daughter and son-in-law and we all loved the condo, we felt pampered here. When we had an issue with the washer, Steve called to help us solve the simple problem. The only things we needed during a 10 day stay were a cookie sheet and vegetable peeler, but I bet Steve has those stocked for the next family to stay at this wonderful condo. I would not hesitate to return here or to recommend this unit to anyone looking for the perfect vacation getaway at an unbelievable price! We tried going through a travel agent first, and would have paid double had we gone that route. Loved everything about this condo, thanks Steve!

We had a wonderful time visiting the island and enjoyed staying in this unit. The owner sent very detailed information which made it easy to find and get in and out. The home has a great view of the ocean and the property is well maintained. The location is convenient to shopping and restaurants. The home is showing some wear and tear and could use some renovations. One of the fans did not work and the kitchen knives were very dull and in need of sharpening.
Manager response:
As with all our guests, we appreciate the comments passed on by "cdj".
To add some clarification, we as owners would like to address the comments in the last couple of lines of "cdj's" comments. First, after the check-out we had our inspection and cleaning service check out the fans. All of them worked. The fans all work off newly (about 2 ˝ years ago) installed electrical wall switches which have multiple buttons and settings. We can only surmise that one or more of the buttons was in the off position such that the fan obviously did not turn on. During any guest's stay, the easy fix for this sort of issue, along with the knives, is simply to call our on-Island contact person who can ensure that the guest's concerns are taken care of. That person's contact information is noted in the check-in documentation and is visibly posted in more than one place within the unit.
We would also like to briefly note some of the renovations we have made since acquiring the unit a few years ago. Three (3) years ago we did a significant renovation to the kitchen area putting in granite counter tiling. This year we will be changing out the appliances in the kitchen (along with the washer/dryer in another room). Over the past 2 years we have renovated the master bathroom by completely tiling the shower area and making improvements to the sink area. Over the past 4 years, the entire set of furniture (excepting some decorative items) has been changed out to include the lanai furniture. Further, all electrical switches, outlets, and even the entire breaker box have changed out with all new and upgraded replacements. As this unit is directly on the ocean, and noting that it is in significant demand by potential guests wanting an ocean experience in Hawaii, there is a constant need to keep up on the upkeep and maintenance of the unit.
What we are trying to address concerning "cdj's" comments is that we do acknowledge the need to continuously keep the unit in top shape, and importantly we have been doing our best on a yearly basis.

Kyoko from Bellevue, WA on 12/03/2009 said:
The room was very clean and had comfortable furnishings. The view was great from the lanai. Wish there was a pull down shade on the lanai to block the afternoon sun from heating up the room.
Manager response:
First, we would like to express our appreciation to Kyoko for being our guest at our Hawaii Ocean Front home.
Most of our guests rent our vacation home expressly for the ocean "feel" and particularly delight in viewing the nightly sunset over the ocean. With respect to Kyoko's comment concerning the afternoon sun, the unit faces west with a 180°, unobstructed, direct ocean view. The lanai does have a ceiling extension that fully covers the lanai floor area, and thus provides protection from the rain and provides shade from the sun into the early to mid-afternoon.
In order to not obstruct either the ocean or the sunset views in any manner, understanding that the late afternoon sun does shine on the lanai, we have purposely opted to not install a pull down exterior lanai shade.

The kids enjoyed the clubs pool, the free wi-fi via their PSP and Kahalu'u beach park which is about half a mile down the road towards Kona where they enjoyed snorkelling. Its about 6 miles into Kona for restauants, shops, ABC stores etc and as we had a car this was no problem. This condo is in the perfect location in the complex...a short stroll to the pool and barbeques. We found it extremely clean and well-kept. The views from our lanai couldn't be beat. We saw whales every day and a pod of dolphins. The grounds are beautiful and our morning bird visitors were so cute! The condo was nicely furnished and had everything we required...right down to the beach towels and sand mats. We lots of dishes, glassware and cooking appliances. There were a few things that need attention; toilet runs in 2nd bathroom; mirror on vanity should be replaced or fixed, and, alas, the ice maker didn't work. The beds were all very comfortable except for the twin in the second bedroom. It was hard as that lava rock!
Manager response:
We wish to thank each guest who takes the time to provide feedback on our Hawaii Vacation Home. We sincerely appreciate the kind comments passed on by Jo Anne from Salt Lake. Noting that Jo Ann took the time to put together her comments, we would like to address some of the concerns she noted.
We did not know until after her stay that there was a problem with the 2nd toilet. Turned out that the flushing handle was broken on the inside (literally a $5 dollar part at Ace Hardware), and we had our on-island repair person fix it in about 5-10 minutes. With respect to such items, we provide to all incoming guests some check-in paperwork listing the on-island contact person. That information is also posted in multiple locations inside the vacation home. Should any of our guests see a needed repair, the provided information suggests that the guest contact our on-island person for immediate attention. For some reason this was not done during Jo Ann's stay and we only noticed the toilet handle problem during the cleaning and inspection after the check-out.
Every year during the May/June time frame, we as owners stay in the vacation home to effect repairs, renovations, and upgrades. We had previously scheduled a mini-renovation of the master bathroom which we did accomplish in June just after Jo Ann's stay. Specifically, we completely replaced the Master Bathroom mirrors, medicine cabinet, and the lighting above the vanity area. Having noted the replacement and upgrade, we would like to note that living on the ocean has its challenges to just about anything human-made. With regard to mirrors, the salt air can penetrate between the glass and the backing of mirrors especially around the edges. This deteriorates the chemical backing such that one gets an oxidized (blackened) effect making the mirror look darkened and losing its reflective ability.
While the model of the refrigerator is designed for ice maker capability, this vacation home does not have an ice-maker water line to the refrigerator. Thus, it is not the case that an ice maker doesn't work, but rather that there is no ice maker. We do provide several ice trays and a freezer ice bucket, as well as several "ice packs or pads" which can be used in ice coolers.
As concerns the hard twin bed, we would like to note that we have 3 beds (a king, a queen, and a twin) as well as a queen sleeper sofa hide-a-bed which folds out from the living room sofa. Our experience with guests over the years is that there are as many opinions w.r.t. hard and soft beds as there are people. We try to accommodate by having different levels of hardness and softness across the various beds in the vacation home. The twin may be firm, but the other beds will vary in firmness. We also include a special "egg shell foam mattress pad" which can be put on or taken off the king size bed to accommodate the firmness desired of our respective guests. In short, we purposely have beds of varying firmness to accommodate the varying firmness desirability of our guests.

This condo is big - plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed that both the living room and bedroom faced the ocean so we always had a view of the water and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The bathrooms and kitchen have recently been updated and we found both clean and well stocked. The condo complex's position in Keauhou means it is close to great snorkeling and shopping with grocery stores, restaurants, theatres and a farmer's market on Saturday. Keauhou is a guiet, safe area for walking and other parts of the island are easily accessible. KS&RC has a very large pool, excellent tennis courts and convenient free parking. The owners of this unit were very accommodating and easy to work with - the condo was exactly as represented - we will definitely return.

Great place considering location (Tropical Island), secure, roomy, clean, well equipped kitchen. Smooth check in and check out. Trouble / bother free! This was the first time we've done ocean front though. Good view from lanai, but was very hard to sleep at night if you are in the living room next to lanai due to the sound of crashing waves. With that said, if you are sensitive to noise I would think twice. There is some room for improvement too. Nothing major, yet some worn out furniture out on the lanai (arm chairs) and rusted telescopic pole of a soap/shampoo holder in the shaver next to the living room. Toilets you can live with, but I would replace them with newer more water efficient / water sense type. Go green! Overall we were all pleased. Thank you very much!

My wife & I have stayed in other condos in Hawaii, but none made us feel like home as much as this unit did. It seems like it was built to be a home not a rental unit - and the owners of this unit have made sure that a lot of little things (e.g. laundry soap, kitchen spices) are in place to make your stay more comfortable. As far as the unit itself, it is very spacious, wonderfully decorated, and well maintained. It is right on the ocean with a huge wall of glass across the whole back facing the ocean. Behind the wall of glass is a very large lanai (porch). Half of that back wall is the master bedroom (which can be opened to the adjoining living room), so you can fall asleep listening to the surf pound the lava shoreline just outside. Very relaxing. And the spacious grounds were beautifully maintained with tennis courts, a pool, and barbecue facilities. Definitely made our week on this island wonderful. A side note to help folks considering other units in this complex. There are two different sets of buildings here those numbered up to 199 and those numbered from 1-101 to 9-306. The first group is a different style from this unit, so our comments above would not necessarily apply. Our unit was in the second type of unit type of unit. For these units, the first digit is the building number (only buildings 1 through 4 are ocean-front); the second digit is the floor (second and third floors afford slightly better views), and the last 2 digits are the unit number.

Great location, nice floor plan with main bed next to lanai,BUT floor was dirty in places, the glassware was dulled by hard water, the kitchen cabinets need replacing, the main bath was outdated, stained, cramped, the bed was uncomfortably hard(we bought egg-crate pads) and the towel rack out on the lanai was filthy. Also, the TV was not in a good location for viewing. Most of these things could be easily dealt with I might add that the pool was nice in that it is bigger than average and allows for lap swimming. The BBQ area was convenient and equipment worked fine. We would consider staying here again if above issues addressed. D.K. Macduff

FANTASTIC VIEW !! Condo has great layout and was quite comfortable. Upon arrival, we were quite disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the unit. Given we are asked to pay a cleaning fee up front, I expected to arrive to a shiny clean condo. Not the case - we had to do a bit of cleaning ourselves before we put our stuff away for our stay. Other than that, the condo could use a facelift. It's a great location and assumed to be well used. A fresh paint job along with the replacement of some rusty items would make a huge difference! Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

Everything was as described in the ad, right on the ocean. It is a ways from Kona but we found that was fine as there really isn't much to do in Kona anyway, just a lot of souvenir shops. There is a mall close by for any groceries or other things you may need. We didn't find the lack of A/C an issue as the breeze at night cooled things off. Very nice condo, the only thing we didn't like was the laminate flooring in the bathrooms seemed dingy. Not sure why they wouldn't have just extended the tile into the bathrooms, but that was a minor issue.

This was the best condo we've ever stayed in. We've been vacationing in Kona off and on for 30yrs. All communication, directions and discriptions were exact. I really appreciate the lawn chairs, mats, towels all the equipment and coolers. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms well supplied and there were enough spices in the kitchen to cook in, if you wanted to. We did grill, once right, across the parking lot. The view could not be beaten, fantastic! The location was super. The kitchen cupboards and drawers could use a little attention. That's very minor compared to the plus of this condo. We can't wait to return. Thank you. Mr.Tyson

To have the sound of the ocean put you to sleep at night, and the breathtaking views in the morning was more than we had hoped for. We were very thankful to be on the second floor too, as it both allowed for an unabstructed view of the ocean, and also the piece of mind that the waves would stay where they belong! The condo was set with every appliance, spice, and toy we needed. The pool was warm and clean, the grounds were beautiful, and we were only minutes away from great boogy-boarding and turtle-filled snorkeling beaches. Thank you for an amazing family experience!!! This condo met and exceeded our expectations. It's bigger than it looks from the pictures online. Everything you could wish for is in the kitchen (except I couldn't find a kettle to make tea with...so I used the microwave). Waking up to natural light, going to bed with the sound of the ocean so close- it was all great. The condo is clean, and very well equipped. No air conditioning, so it might be hot in the summer(?) but we found the breeze and the ceiling fans kept us very comfortable at night. The property is well maintained, and directions for check in and check out were very straightforward. We thought the value for our cost was very good, especially as we were not in the high season. There is a shopping center very close by, so it is easy to get what you need without a long journey, but at the same time, the location is far enough out of town to make you feel like you are not in tourist central. It's a great location to have as a home base, as it's very central for touring the island (lots of driving wherever you stay on Hawaii to see everything). Most mornings there were dolphins just offshore, and there is a nice snorkel spot very close by to see lots of fish and turtles. The only uncomfortable moment was meeting an extraordinarily large cockroach on the patio- but that's a tropical environment for you! The hardest part of our stay was coming home. If we go back to Hawaii, we'll certainly try to stay here again.

The location right on the beach is great and close enough to all you might need/want to do. The local trolley is fun and quick if you want to leave the car for the day. Hawaii is an unreal island offering so many different things to do, the snorkelling at the beach next door is good and the dolphins that cruise pass the lani each day is a bonus. We loved everything about our stay at Condo 1-203, we only hated leaving. But we will return one day. Too nice a spot not to.

We just got back from a great vacation in Hawaii. We stayed at Aloha condos' Kona Surf & Racquet Club, unit 1-203. It is a beautiful 2/2 unit with unmatched views and great amenities. The kitchen is large and very nice, utencils are plenty and the stackable washer and dryer is a larger size and works great. The CA King bed is very comfortable and the unit offers books, games, coolers, beach chairs, and snorkel gear for renters. Very nice! We were a bit unlucky that the weather was very hot and there was very little wind. This made the unit quite warm even at night with all fans on high speed. A few bugs found their way in, but nothing a quick spray would not take care of. Very nice unit, highly recommend. Great location.

The tennis courts are fine, and the pool has just had improvements made. Both are very nice. The grilling area is nice and clean. Several tables to sit at in the covered area. The ocean side is awesome. The surf crashes against the lava rock, and little coves along the shore. We have never seen such a beautiful sunset as from the patio. We spent a lot of time watching different kinds of boats passing by. The inisde of the condo is beautiful. Very bright and clean. Everything has been thought of. Even the light switches had labels! It was a very difficult choice to get a condo that satisfied all our requests of being close to the main attractions in the area of Kailua Kona, yet quiet and near the oceanfront with a view. The hotels charge just too much and after looking many condos this one looked the best one. All started with the owner allowing us to rent onlz for 4 nights when it should be 5 nights minimum and the instructions given afterwards were always clear and perfect. When we got there, everything exceeded our expectations: the spaciousness, the lanai, the ocean views, the sound of the waves crashing... it was a true Hawaiian dream!! And the town is only 10 minutes away, the most beautiful snorkeling spot is 15 minutes away, bot the more crowded yet amazing Keahou Bay was around the corner!! On top of all this the unit was extremely well maintained, kitchwn very modern and well equipped, quiet at night and had all the gear we needed for the beach was there... so it was such a better investment than going to a hotel or even a B&B... and it was clearly one of the best condos around!! Would definitely come back again here when we return for some more Big Island adventures!! Recommend it highly for couples or families (it had an extra bedroom we never used)!! Enjoy!!

The condo, itself, is absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and has every amenity we could have hoped for in our "home away from home". The view is incredible, and watching the waves crash on the lava rocks was very mesmerizing. It's only 5 minutes from a grocery store, a drug store, and many restaurants to satisfy just about anyone's palate. The only thing that we were not prepared for was the humidity/heat! We are from S.E. Arizona, and an 80 degree day is very pleasant! In Kona, 80 degrees with 80% humidity and absolutely no breeze was nothing short of oppressive! On that note, while the condo has ceiling fans in every room, it could use 2 or 3 on the lanai, and a screen door on the front door like all the surrounding condos. Chances are, although the condo and amenities were outstanding, the lack of AC will prevent us from staying here again! Lastly, midway through our stay and until we left, remodeling started in the condo next door, and the carpet on the stairs was being replaced. We did not get the courtesy of being notified prior to or during our stay. We had driven to the East side of the island two days in a row, and had gotten back around midnight on both occasions, only to waken around 6:30 a.m. to sawing, hammering, etc. Prior knowledge of this may have had some bearing on whether or not we had chosen this condo to stay at. At the very least, a discounted rate would have been some consolation.

During our second week, the weather turned a bit muggy, so air conditioning would have been nice, but we found an extra fan in the condo that helped a lot. This was the most comfortable, well-equipped, perfectly located, spacious vacation condo we've ever had the pleasure of renting. The owner was awesome, accomodating us at the last minute without a hitch. Loved the place the moment we walked in and saw the full ocean view straight out the lanai. The kitchen was fantastic and had everything we needed and then some; the bed was great and the linens were super soft. There was a small library of excellent travel guides and a fairly large selection of cd's and dvd's. (The music was great - we didn't watch any of the movies) There is also plenty of travel/sports gear available to use. We rented for the two of us but I would HIGHLY recommend this place for larger parties as well. Some may have a problem with the master bedroom having only shoji screens for a wall between it at the living area; we thought it was fantastic and left them open at all times. If you are looking for a nice sandy beach, you will have to walk next door to one of the best snorkel spots on the island, no big deal! We loved the dramatic contrast of black lava, blue water and white foam as the waves crashed against the shore. It was gorgeous to look at a blissful to hear. Mahalo Nui Loa, Thor

We stayed here in the winter. The day we arrived, the Islands had a huge storm. The unit downstairs was completed flooded. There were alot of workers, etc. there and the owners were very upset (understandably). We heard ALOT of their trauma from our unit. It made me feel fortunate that we had rented an upstairs unit, as I'm not sure what would have happened if we were anywhere downstairs. As for the unit itself, it was very clean, well equipped, and we loved the view. The ocean was so close and so loud that we actually closed the doors at times! We loved the birds and the black rock/ocean views from the condo. We liked the furnishings, an effort has been made by the owners to use authentic Island decor. The furnishings also included: a great tour book of the Island, picnic containers, and even some great Hawaiian music. The only drawbacks were: lanai a little dirty, but I'm not sure how one could keep on top of that in the winter. Also, screen in kitchen window had been compromised by some type of chewing animal. So be careful leaving any type of food out, as this is the islands.... We would love to go back and take our kids, as we found an excellent snorkeling bay within walking distance. It was unfortunately over run by tourists, but we timed our visit at the same time a cruise ship had a drop off. My only regret is that we can't go back any time soon.

We booked this townhome through Aloha Condos, becuase it provided a very good description and numerous pictures, showing you exactly what you'll be getting. It you want oceanfront, this is as close as you will ever get! The ocean thunders right up to a seawall just a few feet in front of the condo, and at high tide some waves actually cause the condo to shake a little. It is lovely to sit outside on the lanai and watch the water and the sunset -- we ate most of our meals out there. The condo is very well equipped, has everything you would need. We did't use the tennis rackets or the beach equipment, but it was nice to know it was there. The kitchen is small but completely equipped, full size fridge, range and dishwasher. The Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is very nice, with a large pool and several tennis courts available. We enjoyed the quite, laid back atmosphere. Master bedroom with louvered windows that provide stunning view of ocean. If we had wanted to play tennis, we could have brought our racquets and walked 10 yards to the court and play for free. Located about a 15 minute drive south of the Kona city center with all the shops and restaurants. No noise from vehicles along Alii drive. The only noise is the crash of the waves against the shore. This was the first half of our honeymoon and we had a marvelous time. Cooked dinner multiple nights in the kitchen and then ate out on the lanai, watching the sun set to the west over the ocean. This is awesome but also takes some time getting use to if your use to quiet conditions when falling asleep. Probably my least favorite thing about the home is the air conditioning unit. It's in the livingroom with the back half in the lanai. It is noisy but efficient for the downstairs part of the house. We turned it off when using the lanai. This is the second home I have rented in Hawaii with air and both were the same way. The home has fans in every room if the heat/humidity is not an issue for you. I would reccomend and rent this unit again.

We elected to try the condo instead of taking 2 hotel rooms for a family of 4 - priced about the sam. It's right on the water... just a few feet beyond the patio is the ocean about 10 feet below. We watched the sunset having dinner on the patio. A shopping center with supermarket is very closeby. Overall a great, comfortable experience....we'll definitely go again!

This was a very nice townhouse on a great spot. The view was awesome and very relaxing. The complex was gated and quiet. I liked exploring the archeological sites on the property. The adjacent beach was nice and the area was quiet. It is close enough to Kona to be convenient, but far enough away to be peaceful. The owners left informative and helpful notes for us and the supplies of soap, shampoo, etc were generous. We would definitely recommend this townhouse to others. We had a very nice stay.

The pricing was reasonable and the location right on the ocean was perfect. We highly recommend this condo.

We had an excellent time while we stayed at this condo. The condo was well furnished and equiped with everything you would need for a hawaiian vacation. There were beach towels, boogie boards, a lunch cooler and games. The space was ample for 4-5 people. The lanai was comfortable and provided a great view of the ocean. Beach access was easy and there was plenty to do nearby. I would recommend staying on this side of the island and only taking a 1 day trip to the volcano instead of staying on that side of the island. I would highly recommend staying in this condo and would do so again if we ever return to this island.

This is a piece of paradise! What an amazing place! Located 20 minutes south of the airport, and 5-10 south of downtown Kona, it was the perfect location. This 2BR/2bath condo is oceanfront, with a beautiful lanai with only a few feet of lava separating you from from the Pacific ocean. You are lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves crashing onto the lava. From this lanai we watched spinner dolphins play every morning, humpback whales pass by, and watched the sun set into the sea. The condo was extremely clean and well furnished, equipped with everything we needed and more! Wireless internet, all cooking utensils, spices, tupperware for picnics, coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, movies, 3 tvs, dvd players, ac, fans, tour books, restaurant recommendations... the list is endless... the owners even had flashlights to use on the search for lava on the evening hike through Volcano National Park! The owners were also very prompt and friendly in all our interactions. The resort itself was well landscaped, with a nice pool and tennis courts, and several ruins of Hawaiian temples and places of worship. It was quiet and peaceful. There is a a small beach at the end of the property that just teems with green sea turtles! Further down the walk, there is Kahalu'u Beach, a salt and pepper sand beach that has great snorkeling and full facilities. It was hard to swim here without almost running into turtles! :) I have nothing negative to say about our stay at TH #177. It was a beautiful place to stay in paradise, that exceeded my expectations in every way. We were tempted to cancel our next reservation on Waikiki Beach so we could enjoy this piece of paradise a bit longer! Location, amenities, decor, activities, view, and cleanliness are all superb. I would love to return there asap!

First time visiting the Big Island, and I came with my wife and two teenage daughters, and this was perfect! Two separate bedrooms, and separate beds for each daughter, made the sleeping arrangements perfect. Having a full kitchen, living/dinig room, and 2 full baths made it feel like a home away from home. The lanai overlooking the ocean made the mornings and evenings a delight, seeing the sun rise and set over the wide expanse of hte ocean. It is furnished with everything you could need (beach stuff, dishes, even washer/dryer). Would definitely recommend this property to anyone - correspondence befoe arriving was very detailed, with detailed directions, maps and very responsive to questions. Being about 5 mins from the town, you don't feel like you have to fight the crowds, but can easily access beaches, shops, etc. I have nothing but praise for the property and owner, and am hoping to return and stay here again soon.

We found out about this condo through Trip Advisor and it was very well rated there and we agree! We really appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit. The built-in safe in the master bedroom was nice for that sense of security. We also really liked the extra bathroom downstairs, especially for rinsing out and drying swimsuits and snorkel gear inside, without worrying about leaving them outside. We really enjoyed watching multiple sunsets over the crashing waves from the privacy of the back patio. The only downside was that the water was too rough to go swimming, especially with all the sharp rocks. The complex felt very private and secluded, while still being close to town. We walked along the coast to Kahaluu Beach, about half a mile north. It wasn't an easy walk, lots of black lava rock, so we walked back along the road. There were a lot of turtles and fish in the shallow water at Kahaluu and was really good snorkeling. The unit was very comfortable, although it was rather humid, so we should have sprung for the air conditioning, but the ceiling fans and house fan helped. I would definitely go back and stay again.

The townhouse was lovely, we had everything we needed, in the kitchen, bath, laundry and even for the beach. The gated community made us feel secure and the pool was very clean and well-maintained. Nice notes around the house gave quick advice that helped create a perfect stay. We were close to so many activities--whale watching tours, beaches, shopping, coffee farms, restaurants, etc. We saw whales spouting just offshore while having breakfast on the lanai, and the sunsets were just beautiful. Nothing can compare with listening to the surf all night long. I would definitely recommend this very clean and well-appointed townhouse to anyone traveling to the Big Island. We are looking forward to returning for a longer stay.

The grounds have quite a bit of history and are absolutly beatiful. Just a short walk to the beach and then on to the Outrigger for cocktails and Pu Pu's. Our only problem was having to board up the downstairs for high surf. Other than that it was better than any of the hotels we saw on our short stay in Keouhoe. After visiting all of the islands and staying in multiple hotels, we finally found a place that feels like home. Going to sleep each night to the sound of the surf is sheer bliss in and off itself and the comfy beds just added to the experience. Sitting not 10 feet from the ocean each evening for cocktails while watching the 'green flash' was the icing on the cake. Might I add, the sound of the birds in the morning from the guest room was a daily reminder that we were in paradise. We loved the central location and being w/in walking distance of shopping, farmers markets, excellent snorkeling and the free trolley downtown if we didn't feel like getting in the car and driving. We really appreciated the provided beach toys, towels and coolers and used them almost every day. Although this is a large complex, it felt very private and comfy to us. We loved it, can't way to return again-loved the fact that it was secured.

Manager response:
Aloha Jeff and Leslie, We are so happy that you found our wonderful townhome # 2 perfect for you as many of our guests have as well. Listening as well as seeing the waves directly in front of our townhome and then being able to walk right out to the beach is amazing and unique. I'm glad you enjoyed all the amenities we have supplied for your beach enjoyment as well as in the kitchen.
We wanted to thank you for letting us know about the louvered blinds off the lanai. I immediately contacted our housekeeper who purchased them and they have been replaced! We appreciate having information like this so that we can continue to keep our townhome in excellent condition for our guests. We do hope to have you return again in the future.

Pro: Excellent location, quiet, clean and just enough room for four adults. Friendly and helpful neighbors. Con: AC only adequate for lower level not bedrooms and it leaked on floor if on for more than an hour. Don't purchase this option. Hidden surprise- before you leave you have to wash all the bedding and towels or face $25 a load charge and the washer is a compact apartment size. It is impossible to leave only two loads because the king size bed alone is two loads. So expect to spend the end of your hard earned and paid for vacation doing chores.
Manager response:
We want our guests to enjoy their time on the Big Island to the fullest. All we ask is that guests keep the townhouse reasonably clean and keep up with wash as it accumulates--extra cleaning is always appreciated but no last minute wash marathons required. Our policy toward cleaning is not a secret but clearly posted both in the booking information and in a summary of it and other information posted on the refrigerator. It is only in rare cases of extreme negligence that we have ever issued extra charges. In this case obviously none were issued.
As to the downstairs air conditioner, we installed it because a number of guests felt in hot weather it is nice to bath in a blast of cool air upon arrival and when returning from long adventures. It is almost impossible to install A/C upstairs in the louvered windows as well as blocking off the incredible view. The cross ventilation from louvered windows is generally sufficient, especially along with the ceiling fans and attic fan provided. A/C is an option not offered by most other townhouses. The leaking we assume is minimal and on the outside lanai, caused by evaporation. We will have our on-island contact and cleaner investigate this.
Review after review has suggested the merits of townhouse 2 from our unique location on a beautiful cove with reef laced beach to our lanai with dining table, lounge and ceiling fan to fully equipped kitchen to large locker filled with beach gear and beach towels to pleasant amenities and decor throughout.
We expect our guests to have a wonderful time and return time after time as many of our guests do

I did a lot of research on Hawaii rentals, and found the rates and accomodations for the Aloha Condos rentals to be very competitive. This was a lovely property. The only minor complaint I initially had was that the property was not air conditioned - but being right on the ocean - and having nice attic fan ventilation - this really wasn't a problem. I found the property to be nicely decorated and very comfortable. The views of the ocean are stunning. Leaving was a heartbreaker. Note that while the property is right on the ocean - it isn't so much "beach front", as this is a fairly rocky cove. Very nice however - with salt and pepper colored sand and great snorkeling nearby. Overall - it is a beautiful big-island property. btw - I rented another condo from the same owners at on Maui - the Maui Kai unit 504. It was a bit more expensive - but I liked that property even more - a 5th floor, oceanfront condo with a big balcony and whole-unit-wide glass doors. I suspect any of the rentals in these developments are nice - but I can say with authority from personal experience that townhouse # 2 at the Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club Resort and Maui Kai, unit 504 are exceptional.

There are great swimming/snorkleing beeches nearby. The condo has many extras furnished, like a cooler for picnics, tennis equipment, beach equipment and towels, movie library and local books/info. I wish we would have stayed longer on the big island. There is so much to do and we did not get enough time to just relax and enjoy the condo.
The villa was clean, comfortable and exceeded our expectations

Nice pool. Gorgeous view!! We had a few ants, even though we put the food away. Kitchen could use a few more cooking utensils. We left a brand new beach chair for the next visitors. The pillows were not comfortable. They should be replaced. Nice big counter in upstairs bathroom....wish there was a second mirror on the wall. Close to the grocery store. Took a snorkel tour, glad we were so close to the dock.

Had a wonderful time at the condo, especially impressed with the ocean being so very close by. I actually got to do some fishing and caught some Humu's & Hinalea's. I didn't keep them, but threw them back. I was very impressed with furnishings and sports equipment available for use. Next time I want to stay longer! One comment is the remote for the lightings were very confusing, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Otherwise, everything was great!

Aloha Condos was prompt and efficient in processing our reservation. The unit was in good condition and the location was incomparable: you could get splashed by the surf on the lava rocks just sitting on your lanai. It's a short drive into Kona town and it was handy to have the shopping center, cinema, and post office a short walk up the hill. Just a heads-up, the directions we received from Aloha were backwards on the turn onto Alii; (should've said left, not right). We ended up in the shopping center, but figured it out from there. Also, we had no idea that lots of beach stuff was stored under the stairs (did we miss a note somewhere?), so ended up buying some items we didn't need. Right outside the door is a significant historical cultural site, a reminder of the highly structured indigenous society which preceded corporate dominance of the islands.

The location was great-really enjoyed being right on the water- no road noise. The condo was well equipped , good ammenities ( like washer/dryer and 1 set snorkel gear, boogie board etc.) and it was close to shopping center for supplies. Check in was simple . Our only problem was an out of order phone... just check whether that has been dealt with . We did not ask for repair while we were there so cannot comment on response time.Be sure to check out the little beach just adjacent to north end of condos.

The view was incredible - all OCEAN and black rock!!! The place #178 was fine - decorations were very good and the back lanai was GREAT - we ate or sat there nearly every nite. Kitchen needs more supplies and place needs some upgrades and paint. FYI, for those that must have A/C there is no A/C on the 2nd floor where the bedrooms are located. That should be noted in the on-line description - my husband really likes A/C when sleeping but I was ok. The unit needs small maintenance and could use some freshening of paint and some new items where sea air and wear and tear has left it below average. As an owner of 2 vacation rental homes, I would add a large flat screen tv and upgrade the bedroom tv size. I left a message with the local manager with a list of suggestions. It was off season so there were not too many other renters but sounds carry there. The pool was good. The nearby scuba diving was GREAT and we saw giant manta rays both on the manta dive and on a shore dive - that alone was worth the trip! It was an easy location and we would consider coming back for the view and diving !

Liked the condo and amazing oceanfront view. Found the condo to be very clean and quiet and looked exactly like the photos posted on the website. Very quiet resort, not much going on and only amenities were a pool and tennis courts. Once we had booked our condo at the rate of $149/night, we learned the owner had reduced the price to $109/night for any future rentals. Found this very disappointing. Only minor complaints would be screen door to lanai needed repairing, and wished the resort offered more amenities.

We (2 couples) spent a great week in this very comfortable townhouse. The sunsets on the patio were glorius with the surf breaking on the volcanic rocks in front. The proximity to the ocean was a real plus but it did present a problem during a storm, as the lower windows and patio door on the ocean side were barricaded for protection for a day and a half. On the other hand we also watched grey whales from the patio. Some nice shoreline walks from right off of the patio. There is good snorkleing in a well protected bay within easy walking disance, ideal for the beginner and lots of marine life. We did a few runs on the beach road in the morning and followed them with a quick ocean dip or in the complex's pool. The location was very convenient to a local shopping mall including a good grocery store, and pharmacy along with a couple of decent restaurants. Lots more shopping and dining in nearby Kona. Our only complaint is we spent too much time touring the island and not enough on the patio.

We stayed in this condo in Kona for one week Summer 2008. The Condo is right on the water (you can hear the waves from the bedroom), well kept in a beautiful location. It is quiet & well situated outside the main part of the town. A great snorkeling beach is walkable. The condo is clean and in good condition - not 5 star fancy, but very nice. The only negative we had with our stay was the vog. I think I underestimated how troublesome it would be. We only had one completely sunny day on the Big Island out of seven.

The condo had a great location. I loved the sound of the ocean. I prefer condos that are better maintained, or newer. There were numerous places where rust was showing through and the ceiling fan in the upper bathroom was dirty as was the ceiling. Other condos where I have stayed had matching dishes and newer pans. There was no gate opener as stated in the e-mail (not a problelm really). The pictures were dated and could be improved with newer framing. The bathroom floor grout needs a good bleaching. The screen on the left window in the master bedroom was not secrue against the window and buggs got in. As condos go, for the price it was nice. However, for the price I have also had nicer condos. Thank you.

It was our 25th Anniverary. My wife loves the ocean and I wanted a place where we were right on the beach (so to speak) as there is no beach but there is nothing between us and the water. We spent a week in the condo and another week at various B&B around the island. At first I though it rather expensive compared to the B&Bs but they were not on the water and we had to eat lunch and dinner out each night. You can cook your own meals and pack lunches so the cost works out the same or maybe even cheaper in the end. The condo slept four but there were only the two of us. Our neighbors in the next condo stayed there and went to all parts of the island on day trips. Had I to do it over again I would stay at the condo the whole trip and do the same. We used the tennis courts but not the pool. We always swam in the ocean and there was a beach within walking distance. Sitting there, drinking wine, with the ocean crashing just feet away, watching the sun go down every day was awesome. Only once was it so hot that we had to turn the AC on but I was glad that I had it. I would return if it didn't take a whole day on a plane to get there.

Within 10 minutes of arriving we were out on the lanai watching the whales. Very close to the ocean which we really enjoyed. We went and bought binoculars just to watch the whales. The weather all week was wonderful - very much like the Dominican. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need and then some. Excellent snorkelling very close by as well as shopping centre with grocery store. Pool was very nice and relaxing - quiet. Only issue we had is that the cleaning staff needs to do a much better job on the bathrooms. Dust on the ceilings fans and on the bathroom walls. Dark hairs in both showers and on the floor and walls. Just about called to have them come clean it immediately - we should have! We would definitely stay again but would make sure when we book that we mention this issue.
Very happy with our comfortable condo with awesome views.

This condo was incredible. It's right on the ocean and close to town. We saw spinner dolphins nearly every day while we had our breakfast on the lanai. Even though we didn't need the second bedroom, how could you resist for this price? The condo had all of the standard amenities you would expect - like microwave, blender, VCR/DVD player, iron with ironing board, ceiling fans in nearly every room including the bathrooms, barbecue tools, pots, pans, etc. What really made it feel like home were the little things you would not expect in a condo like this - immersion blender, rice cooker, waffle iron, sandwich maker, toaster oven, even toothpicks for my Martinis. All you need to bring is the food. The closets were full of boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, tennis equipment, suntan lotions, aloe vera, beach mats, beach towels and an extra fan. (You can really travel light.) There is no air conditioning, but that really wasn't an issue. It doesn't get that hot in Kona, but it does get humid. The condo was not brand new, but it was in good shape. The lanai furniture did appear to be very new and good quality. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Although the location of the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club is very convenient, the unit we stayed in (2-102) left much to be desired. The beds were comfortable and clean, as was the living room furniture. The bathrooms and especially the kitchen, were very outdated, run down and dirty. Dirty in terms of being so old and run down that no amount of cleaning or fresh paint would spiff them up. This became very onerous during a two week stay in March 2010. The patio furniture was also sub-standard; not even as nice as the chaise lounges at the community pool. It was not pleasant at all to pay the amount we paid for furnishings and accommodations that were barely tolerable.
Manager response:

We had a great time staying here. This unit has a wonderful view of the ocean and you can sit on the lanai and watch the sunset. The condo had everything we needed for our stay to include boogie boards, beach towels and flashlights for the night hike at the Volcano! The swimming pool has been completely redone and is absolutely gorgeous and warm, which I loved since I am not a cold water lover. We used the BBQ area several times, which was great for all of the people we had. I would totally recommend this unit for anyone wanting to stay on the Big Island at a reasonable cost. The only negative with a ground floor unit is having to close up the condo when you go out so its a bit stuffy when you return. However, it cools off quickly with the ocean breeze. This unit stays much cooler than the third floor units. Also, the key card for the gate was no longer there but we just used the key code. I was pleased with the goodies that were there for us on our arrival and the condo is extremely close to the golf course (absolutely beautiful to play)and shopping. The weather was terrific, 86 degrees. All in all this was definitely the best vacation we have had.

The location was awesome gorgeous views lovely and quiet, the trolley bus and shops were close and convenient. The local contact was friendly and efficient, checking in and out was no hassle at all, it was neat to have it cleaned once a week while we were there. There was washing powder, toilet paper, some toiletries and dishwash powder etc provided which was great. A very nice touch was the box of chocolates and little bag of coffee on arrival, it made us feel welcome. It was nice to have soft comfortable beds too as both my Dad and myself suffer from bad backs, so 3 weeks in a comfortable bed was great. The pool was very very nice!! I swam at least twice a day. One of the best things about staying here at the Surf and Racquet club was the really friendly cheerful ground staff, especially Jim the landscape supervisior and a couple of the younger guys, it made all the difference to our stay and one of the biggest reasons I would stay there when I come back. The best thing about our stay was the friendliness of the people, there was nothing we did not like, it was perfect. Many thanks to the owners and staff that made our stay great. Wickham family

This condo had a great view of the ocean and was roomy enough for a family of four. The condo was clean but the furniture was very dated and a bit run down. We came to this condo on the off-season so the price was reasonable for the condition of the condo. If we had to pay full in-season price, I would've have expected newer furniture and a few more amenities, such as sugar for the coffee. Also, there are very, very strict rules at the pool (example: No unnecessary loudness) which can be challenging with small children.

We enjoyed walking to snorkeling, playing tennis, and going to the farmer's market for fresh produce (it would have been nice to have a salad spinner to wash the lettuce). Everything in the unit was clean. It was very well-stocked with dishes, utensils, etc. The only non-working item was the CD/radio player. We are looking forward to staying at this unit next year.

We stayed in 1-301 for a portion of our honeymoon and LOVED it. First off, the location is nice and not too far from "downtown" Kona (a cab there will cost about $20 to Huggo's). The parking spot is right in front. Being on the 3rd (top) floor gives you the best ocean breezes and your comfortable even when its well into the 80s outside. Inside, it is very tastefully decorated, the kitchen had almost Everything we could need, and the snorkel equipment/towels/mats/etc. were all perfect. And, the BEST part of the condo is the lanai- being on the corner of the building it is private and it has views all around, great furniture, and is THE best spot for a sunset dinner you could find. We saw wales breach just out in the ocean in front of us.

This was our second time around in two years at this unit. Jan to March is the best time to watch the whales off the lanai - one day we probably counted over 20 different "spouts" - the whales and their calves spend the winter every year just off the coast in the Kailua-Kona area. The location of the condo in Keahou is great - it's quiet enough at the Surf & Racquet club to relax and just a 10 drive or so up Alii drive to Huggo's or Lulu's or Bongo Billy's to have some fun and great food if you don't feel like using the kitchen or grill's just down the stairs. The place is private, clean, comfortable and has everything you could need for the perfect vacation.

Starting with the reservation process - it was easy and clear. I got regular updates and the condo owner/manager was responsive to my email inquiries. The check-in / check-out process was also easy! Upon arrival - the condo was clean and met my expectations! The pictures on the web site reflects the actual condo set-up and decor. The condo is spacious, with vaulted ceilings and nice breeze through out. The master bedroom is nice - the bed is comfortable and with the lanai doors open - the ocean waves put you to sleep. Slight down side to the master bedroom is the sliding doors separate the living room and the master bedroom - not very much privacy. The condo owner/manager has equipped the condo with all kinds of things that were nice surprises - snorkel gear, beach towels, beach chairs, plenty of towels, washer/dryer with laundry detergent, pots and pans and dishes and utensils, cooking spices and condiments, DVD player, books, and games. The lanai was my favorite - the condo is a corner unit so the lanai wrapped around. It was big enough to hold a lounge chair, high-top table and stools and another table and chairs. It was the perfect place to sit and watch the water. We even spotted a whale from the lanai! The condo was more than we expected. It was a lovely stay!

This was our first visit to the Big Island. After reading the reviews, we selected Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club, 1-301. Although we didn't need a 2-bedroom unit, we chose it because of its top floor, private setting and wrap-around deck -- and we're glad we did! We've stayed in condos in several other locations previously. This was the most thoughtfully furnished one we have enjoyed. We chose to have leisurely breakfasts and dinners on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, down to the smallest details. There was everything (and more!) than we could have wanted for enjoying the beaches -- picnic coolers, and even beach chairs and an umbrella. Besides being well furnished, the unit and everything in it was spotlessly clean. We immediately felt comfortable there. The condo's location was excellent -- right on the water; away from the noise of more densely populated areas and traffic, but with convenient access to snorkeling, shopping, and major roads. The gas barbeques in the adjacent outdoor kitchen were convenient, like new, and clean. The pool is large; the grounds attractive and well-kept. The only thing we would have liked was air-conditioning, since the weather was hot and humid. But excellent cross-ventilation and ample fans kept the breezes flowing. We definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

We eloped on the Big Island and this was an ideal spot to have as a "home base" for our romantic week long retreat! Very private and quiet. The end unit has spectacular views and wonderful breezes - you can actually FEEL the surf hit the lava beach right outside - it's that close! The sunsets were all spectacular, and the little birds in the coconut tree right off the lanai were a nice treat! I felt that a small closet safe for valuables would be a nice addition so you wouldn't have to feel the need to close windows to lock up and stop the excellent cross breezes. Shopping for food and beverages was nearby and convenient, and the condo was really well equipped with all kitchen and day excursion items we needed, including some great guide books, maps, coolers and snorkel gear. The stereo was key, as there is great island radio to listen to (although having one with an iPod port would be a nice addition). We encountered one or two creepy crawlies, but that's the tropics for 'ya. Very minimal, and the geckos are charming! We had an excellent, relaxing stay, and I would definitely recommend it, especially for a peaceful, private getaway for a couple.

The place we stayed at was right overlooking the ocean which was great. The only problem was since the windows faced south the place got very hot and with no air conditioning, at times, it was uncomfortable. We did a fair amount of snorkeling at the beach just to the west of us. It is great for snorkeling but not good at all for swimming and there was very little beach. It was nice to have all the snorkel equipment in the place plus beach chairs. We made use of the bbq just about every night. The unit needs to look at the tv and dvd player in the second bedroom since they were not working. We had a great trip to see the lava flowing into the ocean. We stopped at the Black Sands Beach and got to see turtles resting right on the beach. Our next trip might be in the winter so that we could see the whales in the ocean. The ocean did not have any animal activity to it at all - not even birds.

We had a fabulous time in Unit 1-301. The setting and views are absolutely stunning. This has to be the best unit in the whole complex; its wraparound lanai is perfect for watching the orange ball of sun drop into the ocean every night. And there's complete privacy; no other units have a direct view of the lanai. We ate nearly every meal there -- it was better than the best restaurant in Kailua. That's partly because of the well-appointed kitchen, which encouraged us to "eat in." The rest of the appointments were thoughtful and complete, from the nice bedding and furniture to such details as tennis rackets (even tennis balls), a large selection of books and DVDs, snorkeling equipment, coolers and umbrellas for beach picnics. There was even a radio that would magically play Do Ho music at sunset to enhance the "true" Hawaii experience -- a glass of wine and some Macadamia nuts on the lanai as the ocean surf crashed near our feet. It was all there - and we didn't want to leave. But we did leave by day to explore nearly every corner of the Big Island during our week there. Thank you to Jacque for making available such a fine place from which to enjoy the wonders of Hawaii.

This condo was simply perfect for us! One bedroom overlooked the ocean and the other overlooked the gardens. It was perfectly sized for 4 guests. The view was amazing, the property owner was very easy to deal with, and it was extremely close to great restaurants and the highway. The wraparound deck gives you the most magnificent view of the ocean. I really loved the amenities - the kitchen was useful for cooking and keeping snacks, snorkel gear was provided, laundry is in the unit, and we ate everyday on the large deck. Something to keep in mind when booking this specific unit: there is no a/c but a great breeze off the ocean as well as many ceiling and stand fans, there is a partition separating the master bedroom from the living room which made it noisy when our friends were up earlier then we were, and there is no beach access from the condo area. Outside the room, a pool and tennis courts are available. I highly recommend staying here and would stay again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in this unit during Ironman - one of our party was competing. He found the location great as it was out of town a bit and therefore a quieter location to rest pre-race. The unit itself is a great size and has everything you could need or want and a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool and tennis courts are both very nice and we made good use of them. You really need a car to get into town from here, but apart from that it was a really nice place to spend a few days and soak up the Ironman atmosphere!

Looking around it looks like this may be the best of the condos in the resort - possibly even in Kona? I bet they get a lot of inquiries from guests asking if the owner wants to sell it. It was tough to leave for home. It was as close to perfect a vacation as we could have hoped for. By far the best part is sitting on the lanai watching the whales (and they were very active when we were there) and the boats - away from all the tourists downtown. We spent a day at Volcano National Park and a day trip to Waimea & Hilo and had a suitcase full of coffee, macadamia nuts, and t-shirts to show for it but one week is all too short a time to spend out here. I guess it eases the pain of leaving knowing that we can come back - so I'm tempted to leave a negative review so we can have the place all to ourselves for the next time.

The apartment fulfilled all our expectations. Beautiful view, big windows, nice furniture, clean! There is no beach on the property. The pool is not too attractive. With a car most attractions are in reach. Kailua Kona is a very busy town, but the apartment is beautiful and relaxing. The apartment was a good base for us to explore the Island. We drove up to Manuna Loa for the sunset, which was great. Most impressive was the Manta Dive with Kona Honu Divers. The helicopter ride with Paradise Helicopters over the Volcano out of Hilo was great too (have the doors removed!). Bubba Gump is the place for diner in Kailua. Whalewatching is a must too (between Jan. and April).

For our first trip to the Big Island, this condo was perfect for us and our two teenage girls. The place was freshly remodeled and very new and tidy. It was very tastefully decorated with fun colors and decorations... we loved it! It had a great lanai where we ate many meals overlooking the golf course, green landscape and our small view of the ocean. It came equiped with many useful necessities such as a beach umbrella, towels and chairs. It was also great to have the washer/dryer in the unit. The only downfall was it was on the 3rd floor, which was a bit of a challenge hauling our stuff up and down each day, but it did make for some nice views. It was also very hot when we arrived, but opening all the windows and using the many fans quickly made it perfectly comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

We loved this place. The ocean was right outside our back door, with a dramatic view of surf crashing against a lava-rock coast. The grounds were beautiful and beautifully maintained. The condo itself was furnished in a simple, beautiful and coordinated style, not at all pretentiously. All appliances and plumbing worked. The pool was clean and the atmosphere friendly. One of the reasons that we stayed here was that it is close to a public beach known for good snorkeling. We were not disappointed there, either. We snorkeled with a sea turtle our first day, much to our kid's delight. Later in the week, we found a sea turtle basking in the afternoon sun on a beach within a 2-minute walk of the condo. Wow! We would love to come back and would recommend this place to family and friends.

My sister and I stayed for one week. It was easy to find even in the dark. The ground were well maintained and the people friendly although we meet very few due to our travels around the island. Access to the complex area was gated with easy keypad entry. The condo was clean, with a lot of items we did not expect (soap - enough to do the dishes for our week stay, cleaning products, fans in every room, and a foreman grill etc.) This condo was quiet with a good view of the water. The beds were comfortable and the washroom well supplied. I particularly like the shower in the downstairs bathroom. Location wise, it was excellent. Very close to a mall area with a grocery store and a large pharmacy. The drive into Kona was fairly short with no real traffic to worry about. The complex had a good size pool close to our unit. In front of every unit, there was an abundance of flowering plant. The gardens and ground were well cared for and improvements were continually being made with more trees being planted during our visit and we enjoyed walking around the complex viewing the lovely landscaping. It was peaceful setting with no loud noises during any part of the day. We would definitely recommend it to a couple and families.

What a fantastic place to get away from it all! This unit is right on the ocean - at night you can open the windows in the master bedroom and listen to the ocean waves crashing. The location is ideal - right at the end of the road leading past all the other units. The road actually ends before the building where this condo is situated, so the front door opens onto a small walkway, a nice lawn, and the tennis courts. The entire condo complex is very quiet. There is a nice pool and we were often the only ones swimming or playing tennis. The condo has tennis rackets, balls, beach chairs, beach umbrellas - it was just like being at home! There is a nice big-screen TV, and high speed Internet access if you bring your laptop. Outside on the patio facing the ocean you'll find a table, chairs and a wicker couch where you can sit and relax. There is a small barbecue which is great for grilling fresh fish from the market. We ate all of our meals on the patio. Just up the hill is a shopping center with a fantastic grocery store that has a phenomenal hot deli with great ribs and fried chicken. You can also get fresh sushi and poke. Just a few minutes north on the road toward town is a great Farmer's Market with incredible fruits and vegetables. There is a sandy beach that you can walk to in about 10 minutes - a very pleasant walk north along the ocean. Nice snorkeling and quite a few green sea turtles. Just on the south side of the condo complex is a beautiful golf course. A lot of people walk there in the evening and sit on the grass under the palm trees to watch the sunset - hoping to see the Green Flash! We didn't see it, but the sunset experience was outstanding nevertheless The pictures on the web site are very accurate, so check them out. We would highly recommend this home, and hope to be able to return there soon.

This complex is one of the best in the Keauhou area, and there are many nice units here. Still, I believe Townhome 176 is among the best and most nicely furnished of them. We rented a condo because after a hotel stay in Oahu we wanted to drive right up to our door, and hang out on a patio directly facing the ocean. Before we even arrived at the condo we stopped at a large supermarket just around the corner for all the food, snacks and drinks we'd need. That's a big plus to me, being able to grab a cold one from the fridge and watch the waves hit the rocks just outside the livingroom. The first night I had to get used to the sound of the waves out our window but I missed it when we left. Though it's fun to scramble on the lava rocks a bit, be advised that there isn't any good beach walkable from this place. And the one decent beach a short drive away is a bit crowded and the reef destroyed by over touristing. I suggest driving to Waikoloa which is a great, great beach. Quick drive from here to the restaurants and bars of downtown Kailua-Kona, shopping, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything from pots and pans to spices to plastic wrap, so you can really enjoy meals 'at home'. We caught some fish and grilled them up on the barbecue while watching the killer SUNSET. Beach towels, linens, TV, wifi internet, stereo, etc. - it's all there. Enjoy!!
