Not happy
Although the resort as a whole is very nice this unit is in need of better cleaning and some updating. There was an issue with bugs and there were obvious food particles left on the floor when we arrived. Cabinets were sticky to touch and had visible dirt. Food was left in the refrigerator and the shelves were dirty. I was OK with the unit needing updating because the price was lower than other units but the poor cleaning was not OK.
Manager response:
“ We are terribly sorry for your poor experience, immediately after your stay we hired both a new local manager and cleaning crew with the intent of preventing issues like these. We regret not making the transition sooner, there is no excuse for a dirty condo, and I'm sure your stay would have been greatly improved by the new staff. Please contact us directly so that we can make amends for your inconvenience. Because we want our guests to choose us with confidence, we are also adopting the proactive policy of making contact to verify satisfaction after arrival. Mahalo for your feedback. All the comforts of home in a wonderful resort.
In 17 years of renting in the Keauhou area, with several stays at the Surf & Racquet, this was the most well equipted condo I have ever seen. From the kitchen equipment to the linens to the water/beach toys we found everything we needed to make our stay perfect. Thank you.
Great backyard view!
Quiet location, great backyard, close to really good snorkelling beach. Condo stocked with everything you need and had great extras for beach/snorkelling!
Good value for the cost
The condo was very clean, very quiet all hours of the day, and a safe location to meander at night. Perhaps the only drawbacks was mold around one shower curtain(whole family has mold allergies), one shower with a very low flow water pressure, and a lumpy queensize bed.
Excceds expectations
Quiet and comfortable. My kid says it's awesome!!! We saw several turtles in the tide pools and on the beach.
Home away from Home!
We felt so comfortable and welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. Well kept and fully stocked with everything you need but the food itself. Located beautifully by BBQ, pool, tennis, volleyball and a great yard area. Shopping a 2 min drive away.
Excellent, Fun, Great Location, and Relaxing!!!
The condo was great. It was clean and super easy to find.It was just south of the main strip which was great for us. It was close to the main highway just south so you could head towards the airport or head to the volcano. The size was excellent and the patio was pretty big out back with two outdoor table sets. It was an easy walk across the parking lot to the rocks to watch the sunsets every night which were beautiful. There was a little path to walk down and a picnic table. The kitchen was great to have and they had most everything you would need for cups, pans, ect. There was plenty of towels/beach towels, and other items. There was some beach stuff like chairs, umbrella, water toys, coolers, ect. Everything that we used worked including the internet and the new flat screen TV in the living room. There was plenty of seating and dining chairs/bar chairs. There was no a/C which I was worried at first. However with the fans and screens open it was just right. At night wasn't bad either and it cooled off perfect. The beach just north of the condo which is like a 5 minute walk or short drive was an awesome snorkeling spot. Not really a "beach" but there was some sand to sit if you get there early in the morning. We snorkled a few different places and that place by far had the most fish I've ever seen. It was nice having it so close!!! The white sand beach in Kona was really small and packed... Definatley would recommend the drive to Hapuna Beach or Spencer Beach to the north. The beaches were a lot bigger and less crowded. They all had bathrooms, ect. We would definatley stay there again. The other residents and vacationers were super nice. You even have the best parking spot!! The landscaping was always kept up and pretty. Thanks!!!
An awesome 2 weeks!!!
My family and I enjoyed our 2 week stay immensely and when we come back home to visit Hawaii we would Definately stay in this condo again! It was clean and comfortable and minutes away from shops and restaurants and everyone at the complex was very friendly. We had such a relaxing time it's part of some great memories thank you! Comfortable condo, but needs some attention
This condo was clean, well equipped, and conveniently located, but could use some attention to get four stars. Being on the first floor was convenient and allows one to step off the lanai onto the grass lawn for a stroll. The kitchen was very well equipped; the living room had comfortable chairs (one a recliner),sofas, reading lamps, etc. The TV, while dated, provided a good picture and most channels that you might want. The outside storage closet provided lots of beach/snorkling equipment that we used at a nearby beach. The lanai chairs and tables seemed new and were very comfortable. The fans in each room/area all used varible speed remotes controllers. The less favorable items included a lack of in-unit Wifi. We started by piggybacking onto a nearby unsecured signal, but it was weak and unreliable. The property manager suggested we connect with the internet via an ethernet cable attached to the modem. This worked but, of course, we were tethered to a six foot cable. The unit had a corded landline telephone and two remote units, but the remotes didn't work and the property manager did not get them working during our time in the unit (Feb 1-22, 2012). During our stay the ceiling light in the dining area and the master BR burned out. These were special bulbs and the property manager was not able to replace them while we were there. The bath rooms had a single sink and very weak shower pressure/volume. The bath rooms could use updating and a new coat of paint.
A Wonderful Place to Stay
We were so pleasantly surprised at our arrival. The condo is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything that you need in a home away from home.We didn't have a car for the first few days and made the walk to the shopping center which isn't for the faint of heart!Coming back is great though(downhill!)This is a well maintained and quiet facility.The pool was beautiful and the water was refreshing(another word for cold!)All in all a great place and the bbq area we used several times where we met some of the other folks staying there.
Excellent Value for an Outstanding Condo and Service!
We were really impressed with such an outstanding condo that is very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed to feel like home away from home. What we paid for a beautiful 2 bedrooms/2 baths condo with such a generous space was remarkable! First of all, the booking process through alohacondos.com was very smooth. We had made a special request for an early check-in since we were arriving early that day from another island, and was promptly contacted by a 'local contact' named alan, who helped the owners managed their property, etc. He told us that he would get the place ready (3 hours before the actual check-in time) and that it would 'be no problem at all.' When we got there, everything went as we expected. The condo was move-in ready and in great condition. We saw a fruit/cookie basket that greeted us at the dining table as we walked in. The only problem that we noticed upon arrival was that a part of the faucet at kitchen sink has broken off. We do use the kitchen a lot, and kitchen without a faucet is a great inconvenience for us. After leaving a message for alan (local contact) as well as the owners, we got a response back from alan the same day. He was very apologetic and quickly offered to come and fix the faucet the next morning. Next day came, Alan was very prompt and showed up exactly the same time we told him to come. He tried his best to fix the problem and ended up replacing the whole faucet, which was not an easy job. In a few hours, it was in a working condition again. The owner, Lisa, also texted us the next day, and followed up with alan as well. In addition, Alan was also able to give us tips on good beaches to go to and snorkeling sites. Thus, the overall service we received, was very impressive!
