Perfect oceanfront location
We loved staying at the Kona Surf and Raquet Club TH 2 during the Ironman. It was so nice to fall asleep listening to the crashing waves directly beneath our window. Our 2 boys (4 and 2) loved the tidepools in front, snorkeling a short walk away, and spotting geckos while dining on the lanai. The TH is nicely furnished with everything you need for your stay thoughtfully provided (beachgear too).

nice theme to the apartment home
the apartment home has a beach theme, nice poster pictures of hawaii's past. the wrap around lanai is a great feature. it's on the 3rd floor which is ok with me, cooler air breeze. quick walk to the golf course and ocean front. i would stay at this apartment home again. p.s. only wish is that a bbq grill be allowed on this great wrap around lanai.

Stunning Location, Pounding Waves, Cultural Presence
Aloha Condos was prompt and efficient in processing our reservation. The unit was in good condition and the location was incomparable: you could get splashed by the surf on the lava rocks just sitting on your lanai. It's a short drive into Kona town and it was handy to have the shopping center, cinema, and post office a short walk up the hill. Just a heads-up, the directions we received from Aloha were backwards on the turn onto Alii; (should've said left, not right). We ended up in the shopping center, but figured it out from there. Also, we had no idea that lots of beach stuff was stored under the stairs (did we miss a note somewhere?), so ended up buying some items we didn't need. Right outside the door is a significant historical cultural site, a reminder of the highly structured indigenous society which preceded corporate dominance of the islands.

A home away from home in paradise
Absolutely perfect! The condo was COMPLETELY stocked and in a most private location. The grounds staff was so helpful and kind and did a great job keeping everything lush and beautiful. The condo was so inviting and comfortable for our family (3 adults & 3 young children). But it would also make a very romantic escape, minus the kids. We rarely return to the same place twice so that we can experience new places. This is one exception. With out a doubt we would go back again and again. Listening to the surf lull you to sleep and watching whales from the lanai were just two of the many incredible things we enjoyed here. They had everything you would at home from beach and snorkel gear to office supplies and laundry dryer sheets, it's all here! We really appreciated the welcome basket, it was nice to have local farmers market items like fresh fruits and muffins to hold us over until we could get to the store. If you are considering staying here, go for it, you won't be disappointed. Check out the blowholes along the shore just a minute walk towards the golf course, during high tide the water really shoots up!

Another wonderful stay!
This was our third time staying at Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquete Club Condo 1-301. Everything about the condo and location is perfect. Plenty of linens, pillows, towels, beach gear, kitchen "stuff", etc. Perfect distance from town, restaurants, grocery stores and beaches. Only least liked thing about the condo - is that it is on the third floor and there is no elevator. (Now, that is really not much to complain about.) We are already talking about when we will be returning. Mahalo.

Being close to the beach was nice, my husband went fishing a lot and we saw some turtles the day before we left. The condo had everything we needed and was very comfortable. I would love to go back again some day.

The condo was as pictured with the best aspect being the waves just outside the Master Bedroom window. We even had a turtle in the surf on a couple of occasions. Stayed with two teenagers and we all had a great time. Many activities in the area with the public beach a short walk down the street. (no access along the shore) Snorkel or learn to surf there with most other activities a short drive away. The condo was well maintained and I would recommend the air conditioner in late July for those of us from cooler climates. All-in-All: Well Pleased

Our condo was the "operational headquarters" for our daughter's wedding there in the Big Island. There were 6 of us staying there. We found the space well laid out, comfortable beds, well-stocked dishes & kitchen items, and just a lot of thought put into everything in general. Even the fold-out sofa was comfortable. (We slept well!) The decor was breezy-island, and the view out on the lanai was wonderfully relaxing with the ocean so close. The little black-sand beach (less than 100 yards away) made for wonderful exploration among the tide pools. Great place.

The townhouse (#2) was terrific and the grounds are wonderful. One of the extras in townhouse #2 is that there is the availability of air conditioning if it is needed. We didn't need it but it's one of the few oceanfront townhouses that have AC. The decor is very nice and the place is immaculate and maintained beautifully. Linens and kitchen furnishings are plentiful. The location of the unit within the complex assures that it is very quite. We particularly enjoyed being able to be right on the ocean and feel the breezes, hear the waves at night and sit on the patio for breakfast. The next time we're on the Big Island we would definitely rent this unit again.

We spent long leisurly breakfasts sitting on the patio looking at the ocean which was only steps away. I especially liked the pass-through window from the kitchen to the patio. Also I loved the coffee grinder so I could enjoy all the locally grown coffees. The location was great as we walked to a great snorkeling beach everyday. The shopping center nearby was very handy too. Overall the whole experience was great and I can't wait to return.

First of all, let me start by saying what a terrific vacation our entire stay in the Hawaiian Islands ended up being. We started in Kauai (7 days)and finished up in Maui for 4 days. Between those two Island adventures we stayed on the Big Island at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club. The stay couldn't have been more enjoyable. The renter was the most accommodating person you could have hoped for and the condo was not only affordable but it was so close to the ocean you could kick a stone to it. (Which is a lot closer than one could ever throw a stone.) The Town House was comfortable and clean and very convenient to get to. The neighbors were extremely nice and the gated community itself was an excellent facility. I would like to thank Lyn and Al Magorno for allowing us to rent their awesome home. Thanks to you, my wife and two kids (16 and 18) had the best vacation of our lives. Thanks, Alex

I did a lot of research on Hawaii rentals, and found the rates and accomodations for the Aloha Condos rentals to be very competitive. This was a lovely property. The only minor complaint I initially had was that the property was not air conditioned - but being right on the ocean - and having nice attic fan ventilation - this really wasn't a problem. I found the property to be nicely decorated and very comfortable. The views of the ocean are stunning. Leaving was a heartbreaker. Note that while the property is right on the ocean - it isn't so much "beach front", as this is a fairly rocky cove. Very nice however - with salt and pepper colored sand and great snorkeling nearby. Overall - it is a beautiful big-island property. btw - I rented another condo from the same owners at on Maui - the Maui Kai unit 504. It was a bit more expensive - but I liked that property even more - a 5th floor, oceanfront condo with a big balcony and whole-unit-wide glass doors. I suspect any of the rentals in these developments are nice - but I can say with authority from personal experience that townhouse # 2 at the Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club Resort and Maui Kai, unit 504 are exceptional.

If we needed a change of scenery, (who would?), day trips to Volcano and Hilo are an adventure worth taking. The neighbors are friendly and very helpful and the outdoor market just a few minutes away was a treat. We usually stay on the north shore of Oahu but have decided to return to Kona again on our next visit to this beautiful land.

It had a great lanai where we ate many meals overlooking the golf course, green landscape and our small view of the ocean. It came equiped with many useful necessities such as a beach umbrella, towels and chairs. It was also great to have the washer/dryer in the unit. The only downfall was it was on the 3rd floor, which was a bit of a challenge hauling our stuff up and down each day, but it did make for some nice views. It was also very hot when we arrived, but opening all the windows and using the many fans quickly made it perfectly comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

The view was incredible - all OCEAN and black rock!!! The place #178 was fine - decorations were very good and the back lanai was GREAT - we ate or sat there nearly every nite. Kitchen needs more supplies and place needs some upgrades and paint. FYI, for those that must have A/C there is no A/C on the 2nd floor where the bedrooms are located. That should be noted in the on-line description - my husband really likes A/C when sleeping but I was ok. The unit needs small maintenance and could use some freshening of paint and some new items where sea air and wear and tear has left it below average. As an owner of 2 vacation rental homes, I would add a large flat screen tv and upgrade the bedroom tv size. I left a message with the local manager with a list of suggestions. It was off season so there were not too many other renters but sounds carry there. The pool was good. The nearby scuba diving was GREAT and we saw giant manta rays both on the manta dive and on a shore dive - that alone was worth the trip! It was an easy location and we would consider coming back for the view and diving !

We (2 couples) spent a great week in this very comfortable townhouse. The sunsets on the patio were glorius with the surf breaking on the volcanic rocks in front. The proximity to the ocean was a real plus but it did present a problem during a storm, as the lower windows and patio door on the ocean side were barricaded for protection for a day and a half. On the other hand we also watched grey whales from the patio. Some nice shoreline walks from right off of the patio. There is good snorkleing in a well protected bay within easy walking disance, ideal for the beginner and lots of marine life. We did a few runs on the beach road in the morning and followed them with a quick ocean dip or in the complex's pool. The location was very convenient to a local shopping mall including a good grocery store, and pharmacy along with a couple of decent restaurants. Lots more shopping and dining in nearby Kona. Our only complaint is we spent too much time touring the island and not enough on the patio.

There was no gate opener as stated in the e-mail (not a problelm really). The pictures were dated and could be improved with newer framing. The bathroom floor grout needs a good bleaching. The screen on the left window in the master bedroom was not secrue against the window and buggs got in. As condos go, for the price it was nice. However, for the price I have also had nicer condos. Excellent snorkelling very close by as well as shopping centre with grocery store. Pool was very nice and relaxing - quiet. Only issue we had is that the cleaning staff needs to do a much better job on the bathrooms. Dust on the ceilings fans and on the bathroom walls. Dark hairs in both showers and on the floor and walls. Just about called to have them come clean it immediately - we should have! It was our 25th Anniverary. My wife loves the ocean and I wanted a place where we were right on the beach (so to speak) as there is no beach but there is nothing between us and the water. We spent a week in the condo and another week at various B&B around the island. At first I though it rather expensive compared to the B&Bs but they were not on the water and we had to eat lunch and dinner out each night. You can cook your own meals and pack lunches so the cost works out the same or maybe even cheaper in the end. The condo slept four but there were only the two of us. Our neighbors in the next condo stayed there and went to all parts of the island on day trips. Had I to do it over again I would stay at the condo the whole trip and do the same. We used the tennis courts but not the pool. We always swam in the ocean and there was a beach within walking distance. Sitting there, drinking wine, with the ocean crashing just feet away, watching the sun go down every day was awesome. Only once was it so hot that we had to turn the AC on but I was glad that I had it. I would return if it didn't take a whole day on a plane to get there.

Very clean, comfortable, spacious, and well equipped. The only noise you get to hear are the ocean waves breaking just a few meters away. Even with three children age 12,12 and 16 the condo offered enough space. The swimming pool was very nice and the nearby snorkelbeach was perfect. We highly recommend this condo. Even if it´s a long flight we are planning our return already.

We stayed for two nights in this very nice end unit with the ocean just across the walkway. It's a bit out of town and the parking is about 75 yards from the door, but it easily accomodated two couples, was nice and clean, and the management company was most helpful. There was somebody parking in our parking space when we arrived, but they took care of it right away and we had no other problems at all. We did not use the tennis courts, but they looked as if they were well maintained. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Mahalo.

Excellent location in the complex. Might be difficult for those who have stair issues. Great location on the coast. Wish we could have spent more time just hanging out in the condo. It was beautiful and listening to the waves was relaxing. Close to so many restaurants and sights.

My wife and I stayed at the Surf and Racquest Club 1-301 in January and had a wonderful time. You can't beat the view! The wrap around lanai feels private and lets you admire the Pacific up and down the coastline. We were lucky enough to observe some whales and a group of dolphins while we were there. Since this unit is on the top floor, the ceilings are vaulted and really gives the unit a nice feeling. We toured a 2nd floor unit that was for sale which didn't have vaulted ceilings and it makes a difference. We would stay here again.

We, my husband, dad, and I, had a wonderful stay in this awesome 3rd floor, corner unit condo. It was spacious and very well appointed (including snorkel gear--masks & fins, surf shoes, boogie boards, tennis rackets, picnic cooler, beach towels), and a drop-dead view of the rugged shoreline and beautiful teal/blue ocean. From reserving the condo to the tasty fruit and sweet welcome basket to our tearful check out our last day, everything was seamless and enjoyable. Great location, beautiful view, quiet--except for the pounding ocean and tropical birds. Great snorkeling just a short walk north and a small shopping center with market, drug store, post office, and restaurants just up the hill to the south.

Hesitant to give it a good review, only because I don't want it to be all booked up next time we head to the big island. It was one of the best condo's we have stayed in so far. The huge wrap around outdoor space is spectacular. The views are great and the pictures don't really do it justice. Fully stocked kitchen with everything you could need. The grounds are very well taken care of. Only thing I would change would be to add a little heat to the pool....burrrr.

Starting with the reservation process - it was easy and clear. I got regular updates and the condo owner/manager was responsive to my email inquiries. The check-in / check-out process was also easy! Upon arrival - the condo was clean and met my expectations! The pictures on the web site reflects the actual condo set-up and decor. The condo is spacious, with vaulted ceilings and nice breeze through out. The master bedroom is nice - the bed is comfortable and with the lanai doors open - the ocean waves put you to sleep. Slight down side to the master bedroom is the sliding doors separate the living room and the master bedroom - not very much privacy. The condo owner/manager has equipped the condo with all kinds of things that were nice surprises - snorkel gear, beach towels, beach chairs, plenty of towels, washer/dryer with laundry detergent, pots and pans and dishes and utensils, cooking spices and condiments, DVD player, books, and games. The lanai was my favorite - the condo is a corner unit so the lanai wrapped around. It was big enough to hold a lounge chair, high-top table and stools and another table and chairs. It was the perfect place to sit and watch the water. We even spotted a whale from the lanai! The condo was more than we expected. It was a lovely stay!

This was our first visit to the Big Island. After reading the reviews, we selected Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club, 1-301. Although we didn't need a 2-bedroom unit, we chose it because of its top floor, private setting and wrap-around deck -- and we're glad we did! We've stayed in condos in several other locations previously. This was the most thoughtfully furnished one we have enjoyed. We chose to have leisurely breakfasts and dinners on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, down to the smallest details. There was everything (and more!) than we could have wanted for enjoying the beaches -- picnic coolers, and even beach chairs and an umbrella. Besides being well furnished, the unit and everything in it was spotlessly clean. We immediately felt comfortable there. The condo's location was excellent -- right on the water; away from the noise of more densely populated areas and traffic, but with convenient access to snorkeling, shopping, and major roads. The gas barbeques in the adjacent outdoor kitchen were convenient, like new, and clean. The pool is large; the grounds attractive and well-kept. The only thing we would have liked was air-conditioning, since the weather was hot and humid. But excellent cross-ventilation and ample fans kept the breezes flowing. We definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

We eloped on the Big Island and this was an ideal spot to have as a "home base" for our romantic week long retreat! Very private and quiet. The end unit has spectacular views and wonderful breezes - you can actually FEEL the surf hit the lava beach right outside - it's that close! The sunsets were all spectacular, and the little birds in the coconut tree right off the lanai were a nice treat! I felt that a small closet safe for valuables would be a nice addition so you wouldn't have to feel the need to close windows to lock up and stop the excellent cross breezes. Shopping for food and beverages was nearby and convenient, and the condo was really well equipped with all kitchen and day excursion items we needed, including some great guide books, maps, coolers and snorkel gear. The stereo was key, as there is great island radio to listen to (although having one with an iPod port would be a nice addition). We encountered one or two creepy crawlies, but that's the tropics for 'ya. Very minimal, and the geckos are charming! We had an excellent, relaxing stay, and I would definitely recommend it, especially for a peaceful, private getaway for a couple.

The place we stayed at was right overlooking the ocean which was great. The only problem was since the windows faced south the place got very hot and with no air conditioning, at times, it was uncomfortable. We did a fair amount of snorkeling at the beach just to the west of us. It is great for snorkeling but not good at all for swimming and there was very little beach. It was nice to have all the snorkel equipment in the place plus beach chairs. We made use of the bbq just about every night. The unit needs to look at the tv and dvd player in the second bedroom since they were not working. We had a great trip to see the lava flowing into the ocean. We stopped at the Black Sands Beach and got to see turtles resting right on the beach. Our next trip might be in the winter so that we could see the whales in the ocean. The ocean did not have any animal activity to it at all - not even birds.

We had a fabulous time in Unit 1-301. The setting and views are absolutely stunning. This has to be the best unit in the whole complex; its wraparound lanai is perfect for watching the orange ball of sun drop into the ocean every night. And there's complete privacy; no other units have a direct view of the lanai. We ate nearly every meal there -- it was better than the best restaurant in Kailua. That's partly because of the well-appointed kitchen, which encouraged us to "eat in." The rest of the appointments were thoughtful and complete, from the nice bedding and furniture to such details as tennis rackets (even tennis balls), a large selection of books and DVDs, snorkeling equipment, coolers and umbrellas for beach picnics. There was even a radio that would magically play Do Ho music at sunset to enhance the "true" Hawaii experience -- a glass of wine and some Macadamia nuts on the lanai as the ocean surf crashed near our feet. It was all there - and we didn't want to leave. But we did leave by day to explore nearly every corner of the Big Island during our week there. Thank you to Jacque for making available such a fine place from which to enjoy the wonders of Hawaii.

This condo was simply perfect for us! One bedroom overlooked the ocean and the other overlooked the gardens. It was perfectly sized for 4 guests. The view was amazing, the property owner was very easy to deal with, and it was extremely close to great restaurants and the highway. The wraparound deck gives you the most magnificent view of the ocean. I really loved the amenities - the kitchen was useful for cooking and keeping snacks, snorkel gear was provided, laundry is in the unit, and we ate everyday on the large deck. Something to keep in mind when booking this specific unit: there is no a/c but a great breeze off the ocean as well as many ceiling and stand fans, there is a partition separating the master bedroom from the living room which made it noisy when our friends were up earlier then we were, and there is no beach access from the condo area. Outside the room, a pool and tennis courts are available. I highly recommend staying here and would stay again in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful 10 days in this beautiful unit. We have stayed at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club many times and this is one of our favorites. We were traveling with our young sons and found the condo to be convenient to the pool, tennis courts, and even the tide pools. The kitchen was well stocked with the basics. We also used the snorkeling masks, beach towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards that were all conveniently available in the unit. Thanks for a great vacation!

We stayed in this unit during Ironman - one of our party was competing. He found the location great as it was out of town a bit and therefore a quieter location to rest pre-race. The unit itself is a great size and has everything you could need or want and a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool and tennis courts are both very nice and we made good use of them. You really need a car to get into town from here, but apart from that it was a really nice place to spend a few days and soak up the Ironman atmosphere!

Looking around it looks like this may be the best of the condos in the resort - possibly even in Kona? I bet they get a lot of inquiries from guests asking if the owner wants to sell it. It was tough to leave for home. It was as close to perfect a vacation as we could have hoped for. By far the best part is sitting on the lanai watching the whales (and they were very active when we were there) and the boats - away from all the tourists downtown. We spent a day at Volcano National Park and a day trip to Waimea & Hilo and had a suitcase full of coffee, macadamia nuts, and t-shirts to show for it but one week is all too short a time to spend out here. I guess it eases the pain of leaving knowing that we can come back - so I'm tempted to leave a negative review so we can have the place all to ourselves for the next time.
