Kanaloa at Kona
What others are saying about Kanaloa at Kona condos
Beautiful condo at Kanaloa
This condo has a lot of upgrades. Kanaloa has very nice condos to begin with, and this one is outstanding. Tile throughout, and marble tile in the master bathroom. Walk in double shower with a separate huge jacuzzi tub. Walk in closets. Huge flatscreen TV, big kitchen that looks like it was remodeled in the last few years. A good size lanai, beachfront or lava front. Can watch sunsets from the lanai. We have stayed in several of the condos at Kanaloa and is this is by far the nicest one. Sleeps up to 6 and has 2 full bathrooms. Kanaloa is the nicest condo to stay in Keauhou Kona.

We loved the place.
We had a great time at #1603. The condo was very comfortable and met our needs in every way. The lanai was the best spot for the sunset each night. We can't wait to come back next summer!!

Relaxing in Serenity
We had a great time exploring the island from our temporary home. The condo was spacious and clean with nice Zen touches. We loved siting on the lanai and hearing the ocean throughout the day. We used the binoculars to check for dolphins which we saw one afternooon. The condo had boogie boards, towels, and a cooler we used for the beach (also some pails, etc. for younger kids). The second bedroom had 2 beds so our kids (boy and girl) each had their own bed. There were ceiling fans in all the rooms so we could cool the condo off when it was warm. We paid for the air conditioning and we did use it about half the nights b/c of humidity, but tried to limit it, partly because we liked to hear the ocean and feel the breeze when there was one. There was some equipment in the closet of the 2nd bedroom for smaller children (a high chair I think, and some toys, possibly a playpen). I like having a washer and dryer (detergent provided) so we didn't have to bring as many clothes with us. There were also some games and Dvd's available which was great. There were several books available for reading and with info. on the Big Island for helping plan what you wanted to do. My husband loved playing the ukelele! He plays the violin at home so it was great for him to have an instrument available to play. We really like this condo and felt very relaxed there.

Krazy Fun at Kanaloa Kona
Amazing ocean views from the lanai of this recently renovated, super clean and spacious condo. We were there with our two very active teenagers which worked because there were plenty of things to do within a short drive. "Sea Quest" and "Sea Paradise" do adventure snorkeling from a nearby bay (5 minutes away), the night manata ray dive (wow!) and Captain Cook/Honaunau Bay/Black sand beach/ocean front caves (amazing). The drive to the beaches is farther. There is no beach at this resort. We decided to go to Hapuna Beach, very beautiful, but about a 45 minute drive...White Sands Beach is closer, smaller and more crowded . Great four wheel driving is about 70 minutes south to the Green Sand Beach and The Road to the Sea (a black sand beach) - really fun! The volcano!! - what more can you say! A two hour drive and really worth it. Our Condo owners thought of everything, including flash lights for the Thurston Lava tube which is really dark in the undeveloped back part. If you are planning to be out and about this condo is for you. The downside is the ocean side pool is closed for renovations, which we did not know about. There is another adult pool that is not ocean side. The unit itself - has everything except a grill on the lanai. New bathrooms, (very nice new tiles with turtles and fish), comfortable beds, good air conditioning (an extra charge), nice marble countertops in kitchen and baths, a loft and a spacious family room (ocean views) with new flat screen. We will go back!

Outstanding in all aspects
I reserved unit #203 at Kanaloa at Kona through aloha Condos. Our 8-day stay was outstanding in all aspects. Booking and instructions: Booking was efficient and our queries were answered promptly. Instructions to access the resort and the unit were crystal-clear and it was easy to find the condo even after dark. The condo: Everything there is arranged to make your stay easy, comfortable and, enjoyable. The unit is perfectly clean and highly functional. The fact that beach equipment was provided and the welcome fruit basket are nice touches that the whole family appreciated. The unit is beautifully decorated and one can see its owner takes great care of it. Books, DVD, and a wealth of touristic information were other aspects we enjoyed. The kitchen is fully equipped and everything was in perfect working order. After long days touring the Big Island, it was great to have peaceful and pleasant dinners at the condo. We also all loved having breakfast on the lanai. Kanaloa at Kona: Grounds are extremely well kept and pretty with all those flowers. We enjoyed the pools and the fact we could use the barbecues. Walking along the shore was another pleasure we had at Kanaloa. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate one second to stay there again. We travel a lot and have rented condos and houses in many locations in Europe and the USa. This was definitely one of our best if not our best rental experiences.

Excellent, again!
This was our third time in this condo. It's always a pleasure and the beach towels, tennis rackets & boogey boards were appreciated. The size of this condo and the loft suite made our teen grandkids very happy. It's so convenient to the pools and the golf course side of the complex feels cooler. The sofas and beds are comfy, the kitchen is well equipped and the cleaners did a nice job. AlohaCondos.com is a great place to rent from-never any confusion or disappointments in the many times I have rented from them

Unbelievable condo in a fantastic location
This condo was absolutely fabulous. Hands down, the best thing about this condo was the 'pay it forward' atmosphere. We cooked/Bbq'd the whole week because the kitchen had *everything*...and not just the normal plates, pots, pans, but spices, condiments, you name it. Coolers and beach maters were available for beach trips; flashlights for lava tube exploring; complete snorkeling sets outfitted the whole family; binoculars were great for just sitting on the lanai watching the ocean activities. Beyond that, the condo is elegantly and tastefully furnished, well-maintained, and in a fantastic, lush-landscaped location with easy access to the community pools and shops just up the street. We found it to be well located to everything we wanted to do and a great home-base. Finally, reserving the condo and use of the site was easy and convenient and Charles' thoroughness and follow-up was unparalleled. When we hit the big island again, this is the only condo we'll even consider.

It's a great place to stay
We loved the condo. It was clean, tastefully appointed, and the view and sound of the surf were marvelous. We had booked a snorkel trip to Kealakakua Bay and were delighted to find that the meeting place was just around the corner and down the street.

Beautiful view of the bay from our lanai
Our stay at 3702 at Kanaloa at Kona Condos was everything we had hoped for. It had a beautiful view of the bay and we spent mornings and evenings watching the view and enjoying the breezes. The condo was spacious for our family of 5 and in great condition ( except for the sliding door to the lanai, which wouldn't stay on the track). There were beach chairs and water shoes and umbrellas and beach towels for our beach activities, which was so nice. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and eating utensils, pots, etc. we were disappointed the pool closest to the beach was undergoing renovation and not open, but the other two pools were fine. The location was perfect for us...close to a grocery store, to snorkeling beaches, to the town of Kailua-Kona, and to the airport. We loved it all, and felt we got a great value out of our condo.
—A great place to stay! Mahalo! (07/09/2010)
Beautiful, peaceful, a great value.
The unit was clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated, and in a perfect location close to shops and snorkeling activities. The unit itself is ocean front so we enjoyed the serenade of the waves crashing on rocks throughout our stay. Spinner dolphins showed off their antics as we enjoyed dinner on the lani. The condos are off set from each other in a way that provides privacy and peace. The owner/mangager was very thoughtful to include tips to make our visit to the island the best possible.

Recommended for a family with young children (and others)
We had a great stay at Condo 2601, and we'd go back again. The check-in process was easy and quick (email with clear and simple instructions). We recommend using the a/C especially if your children are used to sleeping (napping during the day) in a quiet setting. The only noise was made by grounds-keeping service (leaf blowers or some motorized equipment). The indoor slippers help (tile floor). The kitchen is well equipped with appliances, dishes, and dish washing powder, and extra trash bags (it is your responsibility to take the trash out). We recycled plastic, glass and aluminum, but were not quite sure where to take it to. The housekeeping service we ran into outside offered to take it for us. The living room was very comfortable and had TV, VCR, DVD and cable. The drawer below the TV contains a selection of movies. The DVD in the living room won't play the foreign (non-us system) Dvds. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. There is a blow-drier, and basic cleaning supplies, and broom and a vacuum cleaner. There is some beach equipment (towels, toys for children, floating toys, coolers, beach chairs). The wireless connection worked. During our stay, the big disappointment was that the pool right in front of our apartment was not operating (repairs from april 2010 to ?). However, the other pool (for kids) was very near. We saw (not heard) some improvement made on the pool being repaired. As for the beach, the little "bay" south of the condos as seen on Google Earth seems walking-distance beach accessible. The access to the beach is steep, hit by waves, and not for kids. The wonderful and safe beaches just several miles away. For the kids, the "Keiki beach" close to the public swimming complex and the old airport is nice (it is a tidal pool with sand and "pahoehoe" (smooth) lava rocks). Ask the locals for directions. We had a great vacation and the kids called it "our home on the Big Island."

Quiet,Very nicely furnished and fully equipped,Beautiful View
We stayed here for a week celebrating our 50th anniversary. It was the perfect condo for us. It is located within beautiful grounds(my wife said it was like walking around in the Garden of Eden) with the lanai overlooking a small cove with the ocean waves breaking against the shoreline, sounds of a variety of birds,a quiet peacefulness, and private location. The condo is beautifully furnished with care and equipped with everything you could need or want.We would highly recommend.

Kanaloa
Had a wonderful stay. Walking in I felt so at home I all most said out load IaM home. I most enjoyed the remodel to the unit, some at this property need a little upgrade (jet tubs out/walk in showers in). I have stayed at Kanaloa property many times and this unit by far is one of the best! Can not wait to see the remodel on the sea side pool! Mahalo and aloha

Excellent Vacation
This home was filled with more then we expected, very clean, no bugs, safe for children, swimming gear, cooler made travel to hilo worth the drive and to pack drinks for the children. We didn't want to leave. Didn't have to puchase or bring many of the items we did traveling with children. I would stay in this condo as my altimate best Kona condo we've stayed in. Owner easy to work with and Kona staff by far the best. 10 star.
—Kaawa's Ohana (06/10/2010)
Too good to be true
My wife and I were amazed at the value which was presented to us by staying two weeks at this condo. It far surpassed our expectations. The view of the bay was spectacular as well as soothing to listen to. All possible dinnerware and cookware were provided. Cable modem for computer use was a big plus. The multiple pools both normal and hot/Jacuzzi were immaculate. Bbqs were located everywhere. The physical location of the complex is very well situated. I really can't say enough good things about this rental. I must mention a small minus though. Sleeping beyond 6:30am is almost impossible because of the property staff preparing the adjecent pool area for daily use. Their conversations were heard as if they were in the bedroom with us. Still I would stay here again anytime knowing that scenario.

A beautiful, relaxing, must needed rest received at Condo 2904.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Condo 2904. The condo was extremely well equipped. We were especially thrilled with the kitchen as we both enjoy cooking and use condo kitchens. This one offered so much more than just the regular Outrigger condo kitchens. We appreciated all the little extras to use at the beach. The location is beautiful. We loved listening and watching the surf from the front lanai. We liked the location of the Resort at the end of the "tourist area". Yet, close to Kona and wonderfully close Kayak rentals. Perfect snorkeling just down the beach too. We had planned on 5 nights in Volcano Village, but chose to return to Kanaloa at Kona to finish our vacation. (Unfortunately we weren't able to stay again in 2904 but still loved the resort.)

This is an absolutely awesome place to stay. It is nice and roomy and it has been nicely remodeled. We felt absolutely at home. The kitchen is well equipped. The only thing missing was a muffin pan. And there are plenty of beach items...boogie boards, ice chests, beach towels, beach umbrellas, chairs, etc. The only negative thing I can say about the condo is the bed in the master bedroom. While the mattress was very comfortable, the box springs must be extremely old. The springs creaked every time we turned over in the bed. It was extremely noisy. I like to get up early and my husband likes to sleep in. I was unable to get out of bed without waking him every morning. We used ear plugs the rest of the week but it didn't completely drown the noise. Other than that, it is an unbelievable condo, with absolutely gorgeous views. The lanai was my favorite place every morning. And it is a wonderful place to watch the stunning sunsets over the ocean. We would definitely stay here again.

The three pools were nice, One disappointment- no workout room. There was lots to do on the island and we would definitely come back.

The condo was very roomy for our 3. We found ourselves on the veranda (staring at the ocean) anytime we were back from outings. Master bedroom & bath are amazing. We utilized the chairs and beach pads, the cooler for a picnic lunch on one snorkling day, watched all 3 Harry Potter DVDs in the entertainment cabinet, walked across the golf course+ to snorkle each morning. We traveled only with backpacks since the condo had W&D so washing kept our packs small. Kitchen was very up-to-date and clean. Next trip to the Big Island, we will be back.

Our stay was just about perfect!!! Working with Kathy, the owner, was so easy; she provided everything that we needed! She also had lots of tips for where to go, etc... I would recommend a/c, though, because of the afternoon Western exposure....the sun warmed the condo significantly in the afternoons; nights and mornings were very comfortable, with the windows open and fans blowing, but late afternoon got pretty warm! It was our choice, but next time we would get a/c. If we are able to return, this is definitely where we would stay!

We rented 1804 for 10 days in October during "Ironman Week." The location was perfect, the views and sunsets were breathtaking and the condo had everything we needed. It was far enough away from downtown Kona to get away but close enough to be there in minutes. The unit was convenient to two great beaches where we snorkled and body surfed. It was also very convenient to a launch for incredible kayaking. The pool was convenient for a relaxing dip. We used the outside grill for cooking which was also great. If we ever return to the Big Island, we could not imagine staying anywhere else.

The condo is very well equipped, comfortably furnished, and spacious enough. Lots of extras (ice chests, chairs, beach towels) so we didn't have to spend extra $$ or time getting these things. While it is about 20 minutes to downtown Kona or other attractions to the north, we enjoyed the peaceful and well-manicured setting of the complex and the awesome views of the kayakers, boaters, and crashing waves off the lanai! We would definately stay in this condo again. Thank you! Note: the restaurant and bar at the condo complex are no longer open.

This unit is so close to the water, you can almost jump in from your lanai. The view is gorgeous! There is not a beach, as it is a rocky shoreline but if you are looking for a clean, spacious, nicely decorated and well maintained condo where you can relax, listen to the surf and enjoy spectacular ocean views, this is a wonderful choice. There is a golf course here, but we don't golf, so we didn't try out the course. The pool was nice for the days that we just wanted to lay in the sun for awhile. We did, of course, do alot of sightseeing and it was great to come back to a quiet, laid back, peaceful place and just chill. Paradise!!!

This condo is great! The unit itself is beautiful, very tastefully decorated and extremely well maintained. The ocean-front location within the property is very nice - away from the center of the project, so privacy is enhanced. As a friend said of this unit 3 years ago, if you were any closer to the water, you'd need a boat. We've stayed in several different Kanaloa units, and more than once in this condo. All have been very enjoyable; however, unit 1804 has been the best - by virtue of location, being ocean-front, and unit decor, furnishings, and maintenance. I keep saying I'll be very happy to just stay and relax at this condo for the vacation, but activities invariably draw us out. Kanaloa at Kona is a wonderful location in the Keauhou Resort area of the Kona Coast. It's only 15 minute drive to Kailua-Kona town; and less than 5 minutes to one of the best snorkeling beaches (Kahalu'u Beach Park)along the Kona coast. The location is also 5 minutes from the Fair Wind and Sea Paradise snorkeling boat operations. We've also stayed at the Waikoloa area that's about 20-25 miles north of Kailua Kona, but the recent growth of condos in that area has greatly increased the population density. And it's usually windy there - the local nickname is "Waikablowa." And, the Waikoloa location assures you a 30-45 minute drive to come to town - or to get anywhere. So, our recommendation, when asked, is to stay at Kanaloa at Kona in the Keauhou Resort area, in unit 1804 if it's available.

We have stayed in this condo community 2 others times, but stayed at different condos--this one is by far the nicest one. Every time we come to The Big Island we will stay in this community.

This is the second time that we have stayed in this unit and as before, it was great. The location of this property suits our style and this particular unit fits our needs. Hence we have a place that we are comfortable with and will return to. We have stayed in Kona several times and have gravitated to this facility primarily due to its ocean front pool. The barbeque area is very handy and we used it a lot. Though there was maintenance being done on the structure we were staying in, the crew was very considerate and the noise was not a distraction. The grounds are well maintained. Though there are 3 pools with one being designated as "family" we still had some noisy young kids disrupt us and 5 other adult couples at the ocean pool on a couple of afternoons. Bad timing. Diane has done a great job of outfitting her unit and there is not anything that this kitchen or space needs. We were able to stay in touch with home using the Wi-Fi and though we did not turn it on, it has a nice TV. The view from the lanai is spectacular and a great place to have morning coffee and enjoy dinner. If you like laughing at golfers, this place can't be beat as you can see just how serious some of these people take this "sport" and how poor they are at it. I will stay here again and would recommend it to adult couples. I would not recommend it to families or more than one couple. Keohou is a very quiet part of Kona so if you are looking for "action" this is not the place; in fact you have to drive almost everywhere. We are both fit and could walk to the shopping center for small needs and really enjoyed our walks/runs along the ocean road.

One of the nicest units we've stayed in out of 25+ visits to Kanaloa: upgraded, modern, and clean. However, a summer visit without A/C makes for a hot and difficult sleep. This combined with an inconsiderate family in the unit above meant that we could only get 3-4 hours sleep per night. Unfortunately, the screaming baby and running tots were allowed to go undisclipined by very selfish parents and grandparents, who were owners - leaving not much recourse. An unfortunate way to ruin an otherwise wonderful condo.
Manager response:
Thanks for staying with us and for the kudos for our condo. However, we were surprised and saddened to hear after-the-fact about the issues that you had while staying in our condo.
Your complaint is the first we can recall receiving about our condo in all the years we have owned it. We just wish you had contacted us or our on-island contact during your stay so we could have helped make things right. We do our best to provide a great experience for our guests and in the rare instances when issues arise, we respond as quickly as possible to make things right.
The retired couple who live in the condo above ours in Kanaloa are wonderful people and are very considerate and very approachable. In the particular week that you stayed with us, they had grandchildren visiting. Guests in our condo are instructed to contact our on-island contact or to contact us directly if they have any issues and if you had done so, we would have immediately contacted our neighbors to have them address the issue. The neighbors were unaware of the issue until after you had left.
We do not have AC in our condo in large part because it is so rarely needed. As our many regular guests can attest, the condo faces west and north and opens out onto the ocean and golf course and there is exceptional airflow through the condo from the front lanai out to the back of the condo, especially when the trade winds are blowing. Most of our guests love to have the condo open and listen to the ocean and feel the ocean breezes at night. We can understand how you might have wanted to close up the place because of the noise issue you experienced. Again we are sorry that you had this issue and only wish that you had contacted us as soon as it occurred so we could have made it better while you were staying with us.
Aloha and Mahalo,
Mark and Diane Abel, owners Kanaloa 1603

We had gone to Volcanoes National Park (splurge on wine from the winery there-it is very good) for a few days first and then went to Kanloa. It was a beautiful condo with a great view of the ocean-- always a breeze- did not miss the AC. We ate breakfast on the balcony/porch overlooking the golf course and ocean. There are neat gekkos on the grounds, as well as a mongoose that I saw several times outside the window. Cool birds too--liked the saffron finches (they will come for bread crumbs on the railing). I think it is too rocky to swim right at the condo (did not try though) We went snorkeling several times next to the Hawaiian Village Park (can't remember the name)-- it was spectacular with honu, spinner dolphins and loads of fishes. I thought that the snorkeling around Kona was better than Oahu or Kauaii (2007 trip). The kayak trip (Kona Boys surf shop rental) to the Captain Cook memorial is probably even better snorkeling fish-wise. The last day there I went snorkeling at Kona on a public beach and saw 6 turtles in about 45 minutes- (had to leave that day) it was way cool. We did not really find it until the last day, but there is a spot to rent kayaks right near the condo - take a left before you turn in to the development.

The view of the ocean from the Lani was the greatest and the location and suroundings was really pleasent and very safe. I have recommended it to others and we hope to return some day. Not for print: Unfortunately we were there when the tempuratures were high and the condo was too warm for me. Fortunately the cooler breeze in the evening allowed us to sleep. We did not go out to dinner because I could not apply makeup to sweaty skin. I would have paid more for airconditioning on a timer. Also, I was not too happy to see that we had to drag our luggage up and down the stairs with no help of any kind of mechanical cart. We are both over 60 and it ws very hard for us. We unloaded most and carried it up out of the suitcase. some kind of a juggage cart would have helped. One could drag and the other could push.

When planning our trip to the Big Island my wife and I looked at review site after review site of different hotels on the island. We never found anything that was in our price range and actually had good reviews. Then, while talking about the planning of our honeymoon at work, a co-worker told me about this condo and how nice the owners were. So, my wife and I checked out the pictures and were hooked. The master-shower is HUGE! One of the things that I never noticed was that there was a trail between the rocks on the beach and the golf course. You have to walk towards one of the pools (the one near the beach) to gain access to that trail. It's a nice place to take a stroll during the day/night. We were able to see some whales swimming up the coast on the first night of our stay (it was whale season). One of the other things I didn't realize is that there is a restaurant in the actual complex. My wife and I had lunch there twice and really enjoyed it. I believe they close pretty early, so you want to at least just try to have breakfast or lunch. The restaurant is located near the path that you can take to get out onto the trail near the beach(the beach side pool). The owners are great people to talk to and deal with. It feels almost like you're staying at a friend's home for the week(at least that's how long we stayed). I will be recommending this condo to anyone who wants to stay in a nice/quiet condo that overlooks the ocean. I'm basically going to call this place my own home because I will stay here every time I go to the Big Island.

The condo was great, with a nice lanai and we ate out there in the AM and evenings. The view was also great, up the golf course, with the ocean close by and no obstructions to the sunset. We were able to walk up the golf course in the evenings and all was peaceful and tropical. The drawbacks are that we didn't want and didn't have air conditioning, but many of the neighbors did and the noise was disturbing at night with our windows open. Also, someone smoked in the condo below us and the smoke came into our place. The vog was a problem and most days were cloudy in Sept. by late morning and we has to go north of Kona to find sunshine. Once we figured that out, it wasnt a problem. We'd go there again. It was a nice place, but probably at a different time of year.

Wow. We booked this wonderful "home away from home" in a quiet resort, through Aloha Condos. The owners are professional, friendly and very helpful with any questions. The condo looks just like the web photos and the view from the lanai really is fantastic! We got some great sunset video with the HD camera. One of the best things is that you get to park close to your condo in covered parking! Woo hoo! Not like at those resorts where you are miles away from your car and the items you left behind in it. The condo has new appliances including a washer and dryer which come in very handy. The condo is perfect for a couple, but 1 or 2 kids could sleep on the murphy bed. I wasn't about to cook a thing, so we bought some great take-out to eat on the lanai for dinner a couple of times. There is a grocery store, decent pizza and Thai food, a movie theater and a drug store with 1 hour photo about a 5 minute drive away. The Keauhou Beach resort has a yummy breakfast buffet and snorkeling close by (although this reef is now being protected due to years of damage). Costco and Walmart are 20 minutes away. The condo offers comfy beach chairs, fluffy beach towels and a cooler for use at the beach along with three drawers full of a variety of books to read so you don't have to worry about any of that. In fact we had people at a local music event on the lawn of the "Palace" ask where we got our comfortable looking chairs! The HD TV screen was great for watching our videos and photos each night to recap the day! The owners also sent a lovely welcome basket which was a nice touch! The vog was not bad at all, so don't let tales of bad air quality scare you away from this island. I have terrible asthma and never had one problem. It did rain some, but hey...it's an island...If the sky looks a little cloudy, all you have to do is drive North to Hapuna Beach. This is truly a "Big Island" that has it all! Kanaloa #1603 was the perfect place to return to at the end of each day.

We stayed at Kanaloa for the first time on this trip. We have traveled to Kona several times and liked the pool and grounds lay out better here than at places we have stayed previously. This unit is very well represented in the pictures and description. The view from the lanai is just as you see it in the pictures. The kitchen is very well equiped and the unit's housekeeper does a spectacular job. We have been traveling to Hawaii for 30 years and I have to say that this unit is one of the best we have rented. We liked that the pool is ocean front and the golf course being so close gives you expansive views that you normally would not get from a unit that is not right on the ocean front. The unit may be a little hot in the warmer months since it does not have air conditioning. This was not an issue for us when we were there in late November and early December. We look forward to coming back here on our future trips to Kona and I have recommended it to my friends that are going to Kona.

This was our second stay at Kanaloa at Kona and the first in Unit 2002. This condo is outstanding in every way - oceanfront (a rarity on the Big Island), private, quiet, elegantly furnished and spotlessly clean. There were numerous thoughtful, small touches - books to read, games, candles (we enjoyed several lovely candlelit dinners on the oceanfront deck), viewing telescopes, etc. This is a two bedroom, two bath unit and is quite spacious. The master bedroom and bathroom are quite large and there is plenty of storage for golf bags, snorkel gear, etc. The grounds at Kanaloa are well maintained. There are grills conveniently located nearby and the pools are clean (although they are small). We booked through Aloha Condos (for the second time); they are professional and quite straighforward. We had no interface with the Outrigger Kanaloa office, so I cannot comment there. We can't wait to return to Unit 2002! Enjoy...

After spending 10 days at Kanaloa at Kona unit #2002, no one wanted to come home. This condo came with everything we could have asked for and then some. In the kitchen there were plenty of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, spices and even a coffee grinder for our morning Kona coffee. There were beach towels, coolers, chairs, boogie boards, snorkel's and many other beach toys for us to use. Our two boys ages 13 and 9 shared one of the beadrooms and bathrooms and had plenty of room to spread out. Our bedroom was very spacious and had more than enough space to put our things. I had every intention of using the jacuzzi tub in the evenings but could never tear myself away from the most amazing views we had from our lanai. Three sets of binoculars from the condo gave us all plenty of time to watch the whales jump in the water and whatever else happened to catch our eyes each day. We as a family spent a couple of hours every night out on our lanai, listening to the waves, watching the boats, and playing games such as yahtzee, dominoes and cards. These games were in our condo when we got there. What a great idea. Anyone with middle aged children will understand what I mean when I say it was great to get back to the basics. Things get so crazy back home with school, sports, and all the activities, that it was so nice to have family time again. The boys loved it and so did we. We used the pools at Kanaloa several times as our youngest found out that sea urchins kind of freak him out a bit so the ocean was not his best friend. We played tennis, grilled out on the BBQ's, and enjoyed the virgin lava flows from the restaurant and bar at Kanaloa. There is a big screen T.V. in the living room that we turned on only a couple of times to watch the big Island channel and the weather. The washer and dryer were also very usefull. Whenever we return to Hawaii, this will be the only place we will stay at as it was nothing less than spectacular.

This is a classy, well-furnished and appointed, beautifully located, quiet, private unit situated right on the ocean. We spent many restful hours listening to the crashing surf and observing the canoe and kayak 'traffic' from the lanai. The downside was that our refrigerator failed after several days; we were told the frig had known problems and needed to be defrosted and was due for replacement. We were told to perform our own defrosting which we did, then cleaned up afterward ourselves. We were able to save some of our food in ice chests but also lost some of the more fragile items which we had to replace at our cost. When asked if we could extend our 10-day stay on departure day by several hours, we were told 'no'. The excuse was that someone else had rented the unit for our departure evening; however, the website booking calendar showed the unit as free. Other on-site property dwellers confirmed no one occupied the unit that evening. We are disappointed at this rigid application of checkout policy.

We were more than pleased with everything at Condo 2003. It was comfortable and clean, and provided ample beds for our needs. The lanai was the "place to be", where we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view and sounds of the ocean waves crashing against the lava. The whole complex was well-tended and everyone was very kind. We'd like to return with our adult children some day.

Our family of 6-with 4 teenagers-absolutely loved this condo, and the resort as a whole. The condo was equipped with everything you could possibly imagine, from beach chairs and cooler bags to fully equipped kitchen(better equipped than mine!)to internet and stereo system for the ipod, to games and books to read.Even beach shoes! With 4 teenagers it was a bonus to have 3 bedrooms, and all the beds were very comfortable-the master was a dream! There was plenty of room in the condo, and a lovely big lounge as well as 2 recliner rockers, so enough space for everyone when chilling out in front of the tv.The bathrooms were very luxurious, the master bathroom spoilt us all-HUGE double shower was fabulous.Enormous walk-in robes in bedrooms meant we could unpack our luggage and feel as if we were in our home, without tripping over opened suitcases on the floor of the bedroom. Being on the upper floor made it a pain to carry suitcases up the stairs, but we only had to do that once, and it was well worth it for the view from the lanai. It was so relaxing sitting there, day or night, looking at or just listening to the water. It really was worth paying for something that was almost on the water with such spectacular views. The resort itself is beautiful, it was fairly quiet when we were there, had the pool to ourselves on most occasions. We went for a walk along the front of the resort, quite amazing, but rough on your feet if you only have thongs on.You should also walk to the golf course, quite beautiful. We did some grocery shopping at nearby Keauhou Gardens shopping centre, and also ate at a couple of the restaurants there-good food and not expensive. We had 6 night there, and filled the days with lots of activities,so didn't get to spend a lot of time just relaxing at the resort, but we could have easily spent another week there just enjoying the facilities and the condo. If we are ever lucky enough to get back there,we would certainly stay at this condo again.

We stayed in Unit 2003 at Kanaloa at Kona for ten days with our daughter and her family. The condo was spacious and clean and provided comfort for our whole family. We spent a great deal of time on the lanai, which was practically in the waves! It was so relaxing to watch the waves crash on the rocks and view the beautiful sunsets. We also used the ocean view pool every day and enjoyed the facilities there. It was nice to have a shower right there for a quick rinse off after swimming. A very nice BBQ was located just across from our unit and we met some nice people while we cooked dinner each night. It was a bit of a drive to a white, sandy beach, but the one across from the Veteran's Cemetary just north of the airport was fantastic. Great snorkeling, beautiful, clear water, and gentle waves in which to play and swim. We also had a great fresh ono dinner at Quinn's, which I would highly recommend. All in all it was a delightful vacation and we would definitely return to Unit 2003 again in the future!
Awesome!

The whole process was very easy. The home was very clean, spacious and the air conditioning worked great. The location you can't beat which is right on the ocean and amenities were great. Having the Keauhou Shopping Center just up the road was so convenient to get a bite to eat from the many restaurants or picking up a few necessities from the drug store and grocery store. The sunsets were simply BEAUTIFUL! I have recommended your site to my friends and family and will be definitely returning again.

We were looking for a 3 bedroom sea front property and they appear to be few and far between anywhere in the Hawaiian Islands. This property just managed to fit the bill, although the 3rd bedroom was basically a room on a mezzanine floor, with little privacy. However, we were aware of that before we booked, so we are not complaining. That room did get very warm, so we went for air conditioning, which was fine. The sea facing balcony had a lovely lounger and some a nice dining table and chairs, not those cheap plastic ones. It was nice and quiet for our stay, but a family did stay in the flat below one evening and you were very aware of their conversations when sitting out on the balcony. There was plenty of towels etc. and we had everything we needed. The property is nicely furnished and clean. The one thing I was not happy about, was $165 for the cleaning fee. To me, that's a heck of a lot of money just to keep the place clean. Again, we knew that before we booked, but that cost is more than excessive to me. If your thinking of staying here, I would advise that you get a car. There is a nice restuarant on the complex, but if like me, you like a choice, you need transport. There is a shopping Mall a short drive away, but its a good 15-20 minute uphill walk away. OK coming back, its downhill then! The complex does have 3 swimming pools, but none of them had much in the way of shaded area's. My family love sunbathing, but I'm not so keen. There was the odd umbrella, but even under them the sun beats thru and you could easily burn if you are not careful. One gripe, you can only drink your drinks at the bar and not round the pool, which I did not agree with. I like to sip my drink whilst laying round the pool, not sitting up at a bar. I suggest that they get some plastic tumblers and let people enjoy themselves.

This condo is so much larger and more open than many I've stayed in. The third bedroom loft was perfect for the kids (but the beds upstairs were uncomfortable I hear). The master bedroom was very nice and the remodeled bathroom was beautiful! The kitchen was in need of also being remodeled and updated. The grout was pretty old and not terribly clean. Also the ivory carpet in the master bedroom was very old and grungy. The condo is really fabulous and the Kanaloa at Kona grounds are spectacular! Thanks for a great trip!

This property had every amenity that you could need. It was comfortable, beautifully decorated and very spacious. We had an ocean front view that was by far the best we've ever had. I always insist on an ocean front or ocean view unit and this was about as close to the ocean as you would want to be. At times, I had to close the slider door to be able to hear the television in the evening. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. The ocean was beautiful. Our only regret is that this condo is not on our favorite island of Maui. We enjoyed the Big Island but perfer the more goings on of Maui. This unit is great and the grounds of this complex are beautiful. If we ever come back to the Big Island, this is where we will stay.

The condo was not only clean and homey, but during the tsunamia warning the owners personally called us to offer their advise and assistance. The only thing we missed was the small refrigerator on the lanai, we like our beverages nearby in our evening relaxation period. The kitchen is well stocked to get you started if you want to cook. Both the lanais are equipped with comfy furniture and perfect for relaxing o dining outside. Our only complaint was having to pay for cleaning twice in two weeks - and the cleaning fees are high. Other than that we would definitely recommend this condo.

What a wonderful place Kanaloa is! We've stayed there 5 or 6 times now. And this time was no disappointment. Of all the condos we've visited, #203 was the best organized. All the closets were clearly labelled. There were detailed instruction books on the desk. And there were plenty of supplies. We therefore had a care-free stay. We were delightfully surprised to find a gift basket from the owner at the door. We're looking forward to return next year, and we will definitely book through Aloha Condos (rather than with the on-site organization).

This condo is in a great location in the Kailua area. We enjoyed eating meals on the spacious and well-appointed lanai. The condo is well-suited for a couple with young children; it would be crowded for a couple with two teenagers. Although not on the ocean, the view across the fairways of the golf course are fine and relaxing. My only less than stellar statement is that the kitchen and baths have not been updated, so these areas of the condo feel old and tired.

We often travel as a family. It's always a challenge for us to find accommodation for 5, parents and 3 teenagers. Thus, when I could luckily reach the owner by phone, I felt very good about him as he was very kind and sincere to answer my questions and offer suggestions. He was very professionally communicative throughout our Hawaiian holiday. The location was away from the busy highway and was very quiet, yet very close to shopping and dinning. I believe that the owner vacations in the property when not renting. The place was more than we expected. It was just like being at one's elegantly, tastefully and beautifully decorated home with a large family kitchen, cozy living room, spacious dinning room as well as full cleaning and laundry amenities the family needs. The location of the condo was away from a busy pool, facing the vast green field. It was always quiet to fall asleep with windows open. We stayed at another private 2-bedroom condo in Maui and Oahu on this trip. If he had had the accommodation for 5 of us on these Islands, I would have chosen to stay at his property definitely. His place has been a big part of our good memories of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.

Our family stayed at Kanaloa at Kona #203 several years ago. It was our 3rd trip to the Big Island in 5 years, and our first stay at unit #203. By far, unit #203 was the nicest unit we stayed at. It was the most spacious, quietest, and most beautifully furnished. The unit is located on the edge of the golf course, and is situated away from the parking lot, so it is especially quiet. The very large living room looks out to the golf course. The furnishings are not only high quality, but tastefully done in a "tropical" theme, adding to the island experience. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the two bedrooms are very spacious. We stayed at a different unit at Kanaloa at Kona the prior year, but this unit was much nicer (and larger). I would highly recommend this condo for a vacation rental on the Big Island and would absolutely stay again in this unit.

I really appreciate it when someone 'gets it,' and Jim clearly does. The condo was a very welcoming and quiet place to come home to after a busy day. We are so glad we didn't stay a little farther north towards busy Kailua-Kona. All this at quite a reasonable price too. There is a walking path along the shoreline where you can watch the sunset. Upon arrival, Jim provides a very nice gift basket with assorted fresh fruits and goodies. We highly recommend this condo. The first we rented it we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was much nicer than the pictures online.

There are not enough superlatives in our vocabulary adequately describe our stay in Jim's condo. It made for a truly perfect vacation. Mahalo Gary & Linda

We have stayed at this beautiful property twice now. It is very comfortable with with 2 bedrooms and a huge sofa in the living room (if necessary). It is beautifully decorated, cleaner than you can imagine and all of the household items you would ever need. We have always felt safe and secure while staying here. The neighbors are friendly, the grounds immaculate and the fairway view is unbeatable. We will go back again and again. The Big Island is our favorite, with such variety of scenery and things to do. Jim is a pleasure to do business with, very knowledgeable about the island, things to do, places to eat etc. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a luxury property at a reasonable price.

Condo 604 was extremely comfortable for our family of 5. Our girls are 17, 21, and 24 years old so we truly appreciated having three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The condo was nicely furnished and even had some unexpected extras such as sand chairs. My husband commented numerous times how pleased he was with our stay. Our only disappointment was that the ocean-view pool was closed during our stay limiting our access to the water from the complex. We spent most of our beach days at Kekaha Kai Park just north of the airport; beautiful & less crowded (1.5 miles from highway on unimproved road through the lava fields), you can snorkel from the beach and see beautiful fish and sea turtles. Our trip highlights include ziplining near Hawi, watching the sunset from the summit of Mauna Kea (requires 4WD on unimproved, steep road) and snorkling with the manta mays. Our week was awesome; we would definitely return to Kanaloa at Kona Condo 604.

The condo was exactly as the pictures show, no surprises. It overlooks the golf course and you can see the ocean if you just lean out a bit, wonderfully peaceful. The condo had all amenities and some extras for tennis and detergent for laundry it exceeded my expectations. You can see the sunset each evening, just a short walk to the end of the course, it's a must with a glass of wine of course! I was also very, very grateful that they allowed us to say a past the checkout time as we had an evening flight out and wanted to enjoy the day and shower before our flight.

Getting booked couldn't have been easier. The owner answered all of my questions the day we emailed and we were booked that same day. The master suite was exceptional! Over-sized jaccuzi bath, his and her sinks, and much more. The entire condo had just been remodeled, which allowed for a trip that was second to none. The location of the condo was perfect. The lanai over looked the pool and the ocean. Every morning we would sit out there as a family and enjoy breakfast while the sun was rising and as we planned out our day. It was very close to Alii Dr. where all of the local shops and stores are located. The condo was next to Captain Cook cove, in which we went out and snorkeled with the manta rays at night. This was truly, one of my top life experiences. There still is nothing that I can identify as being negative with this trip. But I can say that the best part of this trip is being able to have the family in a beautiful location, in an amazing condo, and being relaxed for the first time in a long time. Usually a trip to Hawaii is a once in a life time opportunity, and if you stay at this location, it surely will be! Matt Carr

The service we recieved couldn't be better. My family and I enjoyed being on the property more than being at their baseball tournament we flew up there for. In fact my children refused to leave on the day of check out. So I promised to take them back to stay in the same unit very soon. The shopping mall is convenient its located right across the street. Our extended family of six enjoyed our stay in this property. However, those that stayed on the upper floor needed air conditioning to sleep. Except for the ceiling fan, there was now ventilation up there. We would highly recomment that some windows be added to the upper floor. Also, the stove only had two working burners while we were there. They were replaced as we were departing. The facility was clean, attractive and inviting and we enjoyed having some water equipment available for our use. We especially liked having a washer and dryer in the condo. The views were wonderful and watching the golfers each morning was great fun. If I were ever taking my entire family again, I would definitely choose this facility. The three bathrooms were a godsend for our group. And being able to spread out and not be on top of each other was wonderful.

We just returned home in April after staying in this nicely updated fully equipped upstairs unit overlooking the golf course. Surounded by tropical shrubs and trees the lanai is large and private and perfect for relaxing Scrabble games-and we played many! I don't think that we have ever been in unit where the kitchen is so fully equipped and it has all the beach gear that you could want. We felt very comfortable living here for almost a month. There is no AC but ceiling fans everywhere-even on the lanai- to give you a breeze. There are restaurants and a shopping center nearby including a movie theater. Or you can rent DVDs and watch them in the unit like we did. If you like to watch golfers play-you can. If you like to go to the pool-there are 3 to choose from. We would recommend this unit to anyone except those that require air conditioning.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review.
Please note that the condo *does* have central air conditioning (AC).
This guest had chosen to not purchase the AC option ($15/day) when they booked my condo directly on the Aloha Condos website.
At all times of the year, my guests can choose whether or not they want AC for their stay in my lovely condo - Kanaloa at Kona 604.

After visiting the ?Big? island of Hawaii semi annually for many years We discovered the perfect place to launch a Hawaiian vacation approximately six ?seven miles south of Kailua Kona ?Kanaloa at Kona?. It has been the ideal location to participate ( as spectators ) in a fourth Ironman Triathlon event held annually in October. This trip required the renting of four separate units as this would be my wife?s last trip after battling Ovarian cancer for many years. I needed a spacious unit as my daughter would require sufficient space for their family of 5 + their Au Pair. Aloha Condos web site accurately pictured the space & privacy of Unit 604 As luck would have it the Refrigerator decided to malfunction but the Owners representative had the problem resolved quickly. I can?t say enough about the condominiums at Kanaloa at Kona. Each we have stayed have met our needs to balance cost with accouterments, some with a breath-taking view of the sea, others with the immaculacy maintained grounds & fairway. They are close to a modest shopping center so families can hit the grocery store or if cooking is not on the menu several reasonably priced restaurants are available.

Everything was great about our stay. The location and view were wonderful, and it was nice to be away from the downtown Kona crowds. Especially nice to be minutes away from great snorkeling at Kahalu'u!!! The condo had all the supplies we needed, complete with beach gear like boogie boards and straw mats. The beds were very comfortable, and the common area was conducive to a nice family gathering. The downside was the water temperature. We took many lukewarm, if not cold, showers. On the other side, sometimes the water was too hot, and the coldest we could get the water was "warm". It would have been nice to have written instructions regarding how to manage the hot water heater, and also how to use the temperature controls in the master shower (very confusing!). If you have a large group of people, all of whom would like a tolerable shower at the end of a long day, this can be very frustrating. I definitely would not let the water situation keep you away, because that is really the only downside, and is probably something that can be fixed. It's just something to keep in mind.

The condo was beautiful and looked exactly like it was pictured on the web site. It was well stocked with everything from cooking supplies to Dvds to boogie boards and snorkeling gear. The location of the condo was alright, but I would recommend a place further north. It took over an hour to get to the beautiful white sand beaches such as Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach. We loved the comfort of the condo but we were sorely dissapointed that we were not informed that the main pool out front of the condo was closed for repairs and had been for some time.

We followed their reviews religiously and they didn't steer us wrong once, I would highly recommend doing likewise. As far as the lodging itself it is 20 minutes away from several of the hotspots on Kona, its beautiful, decorated tastefully and sits right on the beach. What more could you ask for? The service Charles provided in arranging our stay was terrific. He was very accomodating and quick to respond to my emails. The home was beautiful and had so many extras to enjoy such as beach chairs, beach towels, binoculars, etc. It made our experience so easy and pleasurable. The view and sound of the surf off of the lanai were breathtaking. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to all our family and friends. The only problem we had was that they were resurfacing the spa and grounds right below the lanai. We had to listen to the jackhammers and compressor, as well as the workers yelling back and forth, from early morning to late afternoon. It made thinking or talking impossible! We were forced to leave even when we would have liked to enjoy the view and peace of the home. It also made giving the baby a nap impossible. I know this kind of work must be done but I wish we had known it was going to be happening during our stay so that we could have had the option to choose another condo. It was difficult with 2 small children and all the disruptive noise. Aside from that, everything was beautiful and the home warm and inviting. I'm sorry to even have to complain about anything but I figured honesty is best!

We were lucky to find something available at the last minute and were very pleased with the ammenities, the complex, and the view from the lanai. The housekeeper was very helpful in getting us into the condo early. We enjoyed ourselves and wished we could have stayed longer. Our only recommendation is that renters be aware that the third bedroom is indeed only a loft with a full size futon for a bed. We made it work for us but a "real bed" would make the condo perfect for 5-6 adults. We would definitely recommend this unit as well as the complex.

Both bathrooms and kitchen were nicely renovated (except maybe for the cupboards which needed to be refreshed on the inside). Everything worked very well. When the BDR TV didn't, mamagement was quick to try to fix it and soon enough we got a brand new TV. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The people around, staff and guests are friendly and relaxed. It was a little noisy at times: maintenance crew in the morning and people upstairs at night. However, there's a lot to do on BIG ISLAND and we went out often. We did have to drive to get to most places though. There is a supermarket, bank, post office and a few restaurants 5 minutes away. Overall, we loved our experience there and we highly recommend this condo. We hope we can come back someday.

The Kona Bliss condo has everything you could want. It's got a perfect ocean front location that's got the world's best sunset views, is well appointed, has big rooms and generous lanai and has everything you'd ever need. The complex is well located and the pools and BBQs are great. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had directions and instructions for our arrival. It's nearly perfect. So why not 5 stars? Noise. This is not a top floor condo and you hear just about every footfall upstairs. Admittedly we were there when probably the least considerate people on Earth were upstairs. There was a large group, including at least two kids who ran constantly all day. We were pretty sure the hall mirror would come off its hanger at some point. There was no way to enjoy the vacation holy grail - an afternoon nap. When more reasonable people came at the end of our stay, it was far better. Maybe it was bad luck for us, but you are at the mercy of your neighbors. Too bad, because we'd love to love this place but just can't.

We were within a short distance to a shopping center, where we stocked up on provisions. Also, we visited the nearby Outrigger to eat have a Mai Tai in the Veranda (recommended) and the Country Club (we did not play golf, but there are two great golf courses there. The condo was as pictured. The view from the deck was fantastic--very beautiful. Also, we loved the shower. There were only a few downsides. Primarily, the walls of the condo are very thin and for most of our stay we had VERY noisy neighbors. It literally sounded like someone was running on a treadmill in the unit above ours almost every night between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. It was almost unbelievable. Unfortunately, we slept through the night only 2 of the 11 nights in Kona. The only other point worth mentioning, we did find two cockroaches in the kitchen during our stay, even though we were diligent about taking out the trash. All in all it was a great condo, and if the neighbors were quiet, it would have been pretty close to perfect. As for location, we found that we preferred the north end of the island and most days drove the 35 minutes north to the nicer beaches in that area. I think our next visit we will stay up that way, were the skies are a little clearer and there is a breeze. Loved the island though, can't wait to go back.
Great condo!

My wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary by spending 11 days in this condo. This was our first visit to the Big Island and the condo and island far exceeded our expectations. This condo is beautifully decorated and is in an excellent location. We really enjoyed constantly hearing waves crashing into the lava rocks just a few feet from our lanai. This unit is very close to a BBQ and the pool next to the ocean. A shopping center is only a few minutes away which has a supermarket and some excellent restaurants. The best snorkeling I have experienced is only a 5 minute drive and the center of Kona, where we have many excellent dinners, is only 15 minutes away. We highly recommend staying in this condo and will definetly be back.

The condo was more than we expected, better! They supplied everything that you would need i.e. soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc. I do not have one negative thing to say about the condo that we stayed in. We will stay there again and would recommend it to everyone. It was a wonderful trip that we will never forget!!

We loved the location and the grocery store nearby. The cove below was great for snorkeling and looking out from our deck each day. The pool area was great also and the barbecue we used. The landscaping was very colorful. The unit itself was very spacious and the rooms were good size for everyone. We loved having the kitchen and the laundry. The only thing we had to deal with was these pesky little ant type, knat type bugs that were always in the kitchen area. When you were trying to put food out on the counter or dishes in the sink, they were annoying.

The virtual tour of unit 3702 made for great expectations. They were not merely met but exceeded! We spent mornings and evenings on the lanai that had an unrivaled, picture-postcard view. The condo complex is at the end of residential street so no huge hotel buildings nearby. A shopping center with a large grocery store was within a 3-minute drive but felt a world away. Within a five minute drive, we were at some of the most recommended beaches in Kona. We paid $129 per night (before taxes) for this unit that sleeps six people. What an incredible value! Mind you, the decor is a somewhat dated. But it was clean and very family-friendly. We have raved about our experience to friends, family and coworkers. We would, without reservation, recommend this unit. We plan to return! Aloha from Steve (Kiwi) Murphy!

Our Lanai had the most incredible view. Every morning we ate breakfast on the lanai watching the surfers and the waves. The condo is very clean and quite large. All appliances worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. Internet worked good too. We did not use the hot tub or the bidet in the suite so I cannot comment on them. The shower is large enough for two and has two shower heads. Bed was comfortable. When we arrived there was liquid soap at all sinks and bathroom tissue, which was nice because we arrived late at night and it would have been a problem to purchase these. Little things like that go a long way to enjoying your stay. Even a pen and notepaper beside the phone. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the unit and we will stay there again.

My girlfriend and I had a wondeful stay at the Kanaloa Condo #3702 in Feb 2010. I have stayed here many times. The view from the lanai is so beautiful and dynamic with the ever changing sight and sound of the surf in the bay. It goes from a muted roar to a lapping tinkle of the rocks on the beach depending on the weather and wave patterns. We chuckled at the sight of the wary mongoose sneaking across the lawn and marveled at the innocent beauty of the colorful geckos on the railing...... We were there at whale time and spent many hours at the pool by the ocean watching the whales pass by. We snorkled, dove , danced, whale watched, had great meals, explored old Hawaiin temples, hiked and all around had a great vacation....I couldn't recomend this place more highly.....

Overall we found our experience with unit 3702 enjoyable. The staff at Kanaloa were very helpful and friendly. The unit has an amazing view and is in a great location, close to shopping and not too far from Kailua-Kona. My son enjoyed the 2 pools the complex has and the grounds of Kanaloa are very pretty. Its just too bad the restaurant is closed! The kitchen needs to be outfitted a little better. Needs to have larger skillets, a cookie sheet, and better knives. The kitchen faucet was broken so you needed to make sure you pushed it down just right to turn off the water. The jacuzzi tub in the master was broken (and looks like it has been for quite some time) while this didn't bother me in the least I am sure it would be nice for others if it was in working order. Also the fan on the lanai needs to be fixed, it gets hot out there! With a few improvements, this would be a fantastic unit to stay in.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and bringing these problems to my attention.
The kitchen has been resupplied with new skillets, a cooking sheet and new knive set. The faucet has been fixed too.
The ceiling fan on the lanai is fixed as well.
The jacuzzi tub in the master bath is going to be removed this spring, so I don't plan on fixing it until after my remodel.
Again, thank you for your feedback.

We've stayed at several other Kanaloa condos and they are a great location, quite and have all of the amenties. Unit 3702 boarders the small bay which is quite and peaceful. Our issues with the unit was that there were several lights that didn't work, and the fan on the lanai didn't work. Both faucets in the master shower weren't installed correctly, the hot was cold and the cold was hot. The kitchen sink also needed some tightening since it wouldn't completely turn off unless it was pushed down. Also the whirlpool tub had a sign on it stating that the motor was being replaced. Based on the sign, (it was dirty, the clear plastic folder that it was in was cracked and had several dead flies in it)the replacement was taking a long time. This unit wasn't up to par with the other units that we've rented in the past. With a little work it could be.

We absolutely loved this condo and where it was located. So close to any shopping needs and being right on the ocean was just wonderful. The view was breathtaking! We were a bit busy sightseeing and wish we would have had more time to sit on the patio. We had everything one could need for cooking meals and feeling right at home. I loved the huge shower in the master bath and the size of the bedroom. The one thing that freaked me out and took away a bit of the beauty was the rules one needed to follow to keep nasty creatures out. And seeing the ultra raid can. I was pretty scared that I would see or have to deal with one of your nasty centipedes or anything else on the list posted. I couldn't relax as much worrying about that and hoping their weren't any in the bed or to make sure they would not get into our luggage. Our centipedes can be killed with a fly swatter here. The fact that one lady there told me that she had to kill one with a scissors made me sick actually. And the fact that the have such a nasty bite. I hate ours in WI, but they are much smaller and don't bite. I just never knew I would have to deal with or think about that. But I guess warning your guests is better than them being surprised and knowing what to do to help them stay away. Staying in a condo was much better then staying in a hotel space wise and for the view, but I was just praying I could get back on the plane home and have said I never saw anything on the list. And thank god I didn't. And that you actually have to keep all food in the frig. I just don't know if I could live like that. But the place was very very clean. I was afraid to keep the windows open even with it being nice out fear that there would be a better chance of creatures getting in. The whole complex though seemed to be well taken care of. And was nice to have the tour guide right on the complex. I got hurt on Kauai so I never got to enjoy your wonderful pools.

1801 is a spacious condo with an oustanding panoramic view. The unit sits right on the "beach",abuts against coastal lava rock and is oriented such that there is complete privacy on the lanai. Crashing waves, smell of the sea, sunsets---really, who wouldn't love that? The complex is nicely situated geographically if you have teenagers since it is easy to walk to downtown Kona, surfing, swimming. Master BR is roomy and uncluttered with a large high quality flat screen TV that also houses a DVD player. Smaller bedroom is indeed a smaller bedroom. Two beds. Little else. Would work very well with younger children. We had two teenage boys. Thankfully, overcrowding in that room led to bloodshed only once. Kitchen is good sized, plenty of "stuff." Living room furniture is outdated, seating is limited and couch/chairs are not particularly comfortable. Older TV, maybe 30 inches with picture quality consistent with an older TV that is 30 inches. This room is not totally unacceptable in a vacation locale where being outside is the attraction, but upgrading the living room furnishings to a much more comfortable, perhaps even a present century decor would be ideal. If you feel like coming back to a cool condo after a hot day in the sun (in August) look elsewhere. The air-conditioning system, for which you pay a surchage, is completely ineffective. Running 24/7 kept the temperature approx 78-80 degrees at night, 85 or so during the day. Without a doubt, this was the most disappointing aspect of the home. In summary, great oceanfront location tucked into a private corner of the complex with a magnificent view; many nice features, but sorely in need of a cash infusion to repair/replace air conditioning and update living area furnishings. These upgrades would easily make this unit outstanding inside and out, rather than a unit you'd find simply acceptable in exchange for its marvelous setting just feet from the Pacific.

Great place to stay, our second time there. The two bedrooms are of good size and the new master bath is beautiful. Close enough to Kona and shopping but far enough away so it is quiet and peaceful. The entire complex is very well cared for with pools and barbecues for you to use. Make sure to pay for the air conditioning. I think my only suggestion would be to improve the reception on the living room TV (the master bedroom TV is cool with a built in DVD player) and to improve the small appliances and cooking utensils in the kitchen. The kitchen itself is neat with new granite counters.

This is a wonderful condo. I wish I lived here! You cannot get more ocean-front without being in the ocean. Our evenings were spent watching the sunset, looking at the stars and listening to the waves. We never ate out at night, we either cooked or got take-out as we couldn't imagine having a better view. There is a wet bar on the lanai, too, so that was nice! The floor plan is perfect. Spacious, with an open kitchen that was beautiful and has everything you could ever need. Large tile runs throughout the condo and keeps it nice and cool. The furnishings were very nice as well. The master bedroom is large with a very nice bathroom (awesome shower with 2 showerheads). The 2nd bedroom good-sized too. (There is also a pull-out bed in living room) It is a very quiet area, so with the windows open, you could hear the waves at night. Couple that with a very comfortable bed made for some of the best sleep we have ever had. We opted not to use the a/c, and with the windows and lanai open, there was a wonderful breeze. At night, it was cool and very comfortable. During the day, it was warm, but not bad at all. None of us minded, we weren't in Hawaii to be in a/c the whole time. The furnishings were very nice. There is a kid-friendly pool and adults-only pool on the property. As we only went to the kid-friendly one, I can tell you it was very nice and never crowded. The grounds were very well maintained. There is a grill very close to the condo as well. It really was perfect and it felt like you were coming home when you came back to the condo. The next time we come to the big island, we will stay here.

We stayed at this complex years ago and found this unit online. The price was right and the unit very nice. The lanai was great. The May weather was great & w/ fans, no A/C was desired. There were some beach chairs and stuff to borrow & we left the boogie board we bought. The kitchen was well outfitted, although we brought a few sharp knives for cooking. If you kitchen clean with a cloth, not sponge, bring one with you. There's a coffee maker that needs #4 filters. They need a few more smaller acrylic glasses for pool/small kid use, but plastic cups can be bought at the store too. There's a nice gas bbq and grassy area with table/chairs not too far away for those eat-in days. The tennis courts are in good shape. The pools are never busy, but the pool nazi leaves you in the dark without warning after posted hours. There's no beach right there, but not too bad a drive. Washer/dryer is helpful for beach towels. We'll be here next time we're in HI!

We liked everything about this place. We did not have to deal with any front desk, just get the parking pass from the gate monitor and straight to the condo. It felt like we were staying at our own house. Complete with everything one needs for cooking (including some required spices and oils), beach chairs, boogie boards, candles, and everything you can think of. This place overlooks the family pool (closes at 8 pm) and you can see and hear the waves from the patio. This unit was hundreds of dollar's cheaper than the direct ocean front where you can see the sunset, but it is only a 1 minute walk from the ocean front. I think a worth trade off, especially considering how easy this place was to stay at. If you have young ones, this place is a plus because they have some gear for toddlers (sand toys, training potty, etc.) Enjoy the jacuzzi tub and dual heads shower in the master bath. No complaints. A little work is needed on the sliding screen door on patio. We loved it. Thank you.

We have stayed in this community for three years now and would highly recommend it. The condos are well kept, have W/D A/C or fans - lanais with great views. This had had ample beach towels and tour books on HI. The location is great, about 10 mins from 'downtown' Kona, as well as close to the Southern region with coffee plants and coves for snorkel. Would definitely rent this unit again.

The condo was well-cared for and had all the amenities one could wish for and more. We really enjoyed the ocean view and the quiet surrounding. There was a grocery store nearby with a large selection and this allowed us to take advantage of the well thought out kitchen as well as the BBQ facilities. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay and hope to be able to return someday.

This was an absolutely beautiful property and condo. Our family of 5 stayed there for over a week and it was the perfect size and great location. We have visited the Big Island each year for the past 5 years and this was our first time staying in a condo. We will never stay anywhere else but at the Kanaloa in the future, and we hope to be lucky enough to stay in unit 2601. I can't say enough on how much we liked the property and the condo. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! See you next year!

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying at this Condo. The view is nice and the pool in front is great. It is too bad that this pool closed at 6pm. For an older Condo, it has been upgraded nicely. The master bathroom is very large and roomy, as is the bedroom. We ate all our meals at the Condo or made lunches that we took with us. There was a cooler in the closet that we used for our day trips. The shared BBQ by the pool worked well and was very nice clean every time we used it. We came at low season so using it was no problem at all. This was our first time the the Big Island and we had a great time.

Rooms and amenities were sufficient and comfortable, although I was not very satisfied with its cleanliness, especially of floor and kitchenwares. We were also a bit annoyed with noises came from upper unit. I guess one of bath rooms of upper unit is located right overhead of the bedrooms of unit 2601. Noises of showers and toilet flush came through a ceiling were not very comfortable. I also thought the screens placed on the windows facing lanai should be maintained. It was very hard to handle and have a couple of small holes. Besides these minor issues, however, we really enjoyed our stay at Kanaloa. It's location is very convenient and easy to access to beaches, shopping centers, yet hidden and quiet. I can't forget beautiful sunset we saw from the lanai. I also emphasize that all condo staffs were very kind and helpful as well. If I have a chance to visit Big Island again, I will definitely come back to Kanaloa.

We spent four nights in this unit in January 2009 and loved every minute. The unit itself was clean and tidy, despite a couple of gecko visitors, and the lanai with views of the water and pool was unbeatable. The location is close to downtown Kona but a little removed, so it was nice and quiet. We enjoyed being right around the corner from the grocery store so we could stock our kitchen and cook some meals, which greatly cut down our vacation costs. I would definitely recommend this unit, particularly for families with two kids. One bedroom has a king (?) bed and the other has two twins.

Ideal for a wonderful family vacation. Condo was a little dated but you could see updating was starting to occur. This partiular unit fit our family perfectly (two adults and two college student daughters plus a cousin's daughter). Enjoyed the spectacular view. We are a very active family and most of our time was spent either in or under the water. There are numerous snorkeling beaches within easy drive. Anybody going to the Big Island must catch a bite and beer at the Kona Brewery restaurant. The best pizza (Greek) we ever ate. We hope to do this again.

The master bath is large with a double shower and in a separate room has a jacuzzi tub that helps melt away one's cares! The kitchen is easy to navigate with an extra large refrigerator and wide countertops. The lanai is spacious with a table that easily seats six. Our one and only hope is that the master king bed be replaced as it's a little uncomfortable.

loved, love, loved our week staying at this condo. we've traveled to kailua-kona several times and i'd like to start by saying the KTA grocery store up the hill has improved so much over the past couple years. you can get all sorts of local produce (much of it organic) and their prices are comparable; for the big island, at least. costco also has some great local stuff. that being said -- the kitchen in this unit was awesome! the appliances themselves all worked great (that blender was crazy!), but more so the way it was furnished was the nicest part. there were herbs and seasonings and extra paper towels and jars of various condiments were actually left in the fridge! they supplied cleaning products and rags and dish, dishwasher and laundry detergent. there was every gadget imaginable (took us a week to figure out what the pineapple corer was)! we weren't left needing a thing. it's very rare to visit a condo that supplies all those extras. the comforts of home continued throughout the unit. it was very clean, and while it didn't feel brand new, it was super cozy. plenty of space for 3 adults and a toddling 1-year-old. i had inquired about a crib before our trip for the baby and some rental companies were referred to me. those places are ridiculously expensive so i decided to just have the babe sleep with me. the owners took it upon themselves to purchase a play yard for the unit, and charged us a very fair rate for it. the extras continued all the way out to the lanai with a gorgeous view, a mini fridge for all the drinks and a closet stuffed full of beach chairs, pool toys, boogie boards and even snorkel gear. this trip was one of the most relaxing so far (as relaxing as possible with a toddler under foot). the pool areas are nice, the water was a little cold, but refreshing at times. the grounds were very serene all around. i would definitely recommend this condo to a friend traveling to hawaii. we hardly left, and can't wait to get back!

My husband and I stayed in unit 3601 for a week in December. Although it was just the two of us, we opted for this unit because of the view and proximity to water. It did not disappoint. The lanai was a perfect spot to watch the waves, and had us thinking we could go jump in the water. As it turns out, the waves break hard at this location, so it was not ideal for me as a beginner. But the beauty and sound were enjoyed throughout our stay. This home is obviously loved, and the stocked kitchen was greatly appreciated. All the pots, pans, and accessories you could ask for, not to mention the spices, oils, etc. This resulted in us saving a bundle on dining out, and resdiscovering how much we enjoy preparing meals. We enjoyed the free wireless internet, which, along with the books in the condo, allowed us to do some research each day to make sure we had our plans straight. It also allowed us to stay in touch with the folks back home. The tile in the home is orignal, and is the only dated feature. By no means does it require replacement, but it does show the guests the period in which the condo was originally constructed. We enjoyed the pools on site, especially the adult only pool, which we would escape to if too many kiddos were playing at the main pool. We did not order from the resturant/bar at the main pool. They were awaiting their liquor license, and were serving a limited menu.

Aloha Condos did nothing to make us feel welcomed. Our checkin instructions were not sent to us until we emailed and called several times before arriving. Once we got there we did not receive a welcome package, discribing the facilities, and no one at the front deck would help us because you are not a resort guest. "You're with Alohacondos, it's like a curse, no one will even talk to you. They wouldn't even let us have a map of the resort. When we called aloha condos about the information, we were told to look for a packet on the livingroom coffee table. I told them there was nothing on the table they said it should have been placed there but never provided the information. I would never rent from Aloha condos again. The owners were nice, they came and turned on the air conditioner (which costs an extra $15.00 a day) if they hadn't done that Aloha Condo Service would have charged us an additional $25. to unlock the thermostat. . Being right on the ocean was lovely. The pool and bar were enjoyable. The grounds were very nice. The apartment was adequate. Having the second bedroom bathroom in the hallway was inconvenient and lacked privacy. Dealing with Aloha Condos was very disheartening and total not in the Hawaiian spirit. DON"T GO ALOHA CONDOS
Manager response:
It's unfortunate that our guest didn't receive the information sent to them or contact us before their arrival saying that they didn't know how to check-in to the condo.
The check-in instructions were emailed 30 days prior to arrival, with a follow up reminder one week before arrival. Included in these instructions were specific details with directions to the resort, how to register with the security guard at the resort entry, and how to find and access this beautiful, privately-owned condo. Gaining access doesn't require using the Outrigger front desk as they only manage units in their rental pool.
The information guide was inadvertently placed on a shelf in the kitchen with other helpful guide books. These include appliance directions and menus from recommended restaurants and cookbooks. It is boldly labeled "Kanaloa Info".
Aloha Condos does not charge the guests for necessary services, including unlocking a thermostat. Guests can, and do, call and receive prompt and courteous personal attention for any concern they may have.
The floor plan is clearly shown on the website. Guests often comment on how they enjoy the spacious size (1500+ sq ft) of this unit, including the conveniences offered by the layout, not to mention its beautiful location on the little bay.
This review is quite unique and a surprise to us. The owner met the tenants when he came to turn on the A/C control and once again, as they were leaving. Both of these encounters were very cordial and complimentary in nature, with no complaints expressed.
We feel very fortunate to have received more 900 FlipKey reviews and thousands of verbal complements on how Aloha Condos truly conveys to our guests the Aloha Spirit that makes Hawaii a wonderful place to be.

Was not warned that the oceanside pool was closed for the summer. Was not expecting there to be 15 multi-generational people staying in the unit above us and the one pool left open for children to be crowded. The unit itself was clean, well cared for, lovely. The water view was not as good as I had anticipated. This was (to me) a very expensive place to stay with reduced/crowded amenities and lack of peace at times. We actually felt that we had to leave the complex to regain our sanity. Not what we were hoping for at the price tag.
Manager response:
Note that our guest said that Kanaloa 3504 was very clean and well cared for, lovely. What more can you expect from an owner? Kanaloa has three pools and they have been resurfacing each pool area to make sure Kanaloa guests have the nicest resort facilities. Two of the pools have been resurfaced and the last pool to be worked on was the ocean pool. When one pool is resurfaced the other two pools are still available. Contrary to this guests comment there were still two pools open not one: one was for adults only and the other was open to all. How many Kona resorts have three pools? As you can tell from the other Flip Key guest comments they really liked the view and ocean sights and sounds from Kanaloa 3504.
As far as having 15 people of multi-generations staying in the condo above I think I will let my reader determine the accuracy of this comment! Kanaloa has a policy against excessive over use of a unit and a guest needs to contact Kanaloa Resort Security available on the grounds 24 x7 and they will investigate any misuse of a condo. Please understand there are only 4 or 6 condos to a building so you rarely get the issues that a more densely built complex has. Guests are distributed over the resorts 13 acres so it is good as it can get. The key when staying at any luxury vacation accommodations is to alert Security sooner rather than later to remedy annoying situations. Kanaloa is staffed to make your vacation a truly great experience!
In summary, people have different tolerances and expectations. We strive to make things as perfect as possible. Kanaloa 3504 is a magnificent luxury condo (as reported by past guests) having been recently remodeled at a cost of over $100,000. I hope you will consider a stay at Kanaloa 3504.

From beginning to end this is one of the nicest experience in renting a condo I have had. Every question was answered quickly, correctly and followed up by Lowell. The unit was lovely, well furnished, in beautiful, clean, comfortable condition and a delight to call home for a week. From the lanai we enjoyed the sound+view of the surf breaking on the rocks, and the paddlers practicing morning and evening. A perfect relaxing location (pool, BBQ, tennis court just a few steps away), open floor plan, ventilation options (silent ceiling fans or a/c) for temperature that suits you. We love the natural open Hawaiian breeze kissing our skin so we did appreciate this option. Just wish we could have stayed at least twice as long to fully enjoy everything...as dancers we were involved in a five day intense dance workshop so our play time was very limited. The location is great as you have super market, restuarants, drugstore, theater, post office, gas station a short distance away. Great place to snokel and beach also within a few miles. Highly recommend you enjoy the hospitality you will recieve from a visit at Konaloa at Kona. Thanks to Lowell it's all good!

We stayed in Unit 3504 and found it very nice and well appointed. We know the owners had painted and added granite to the space but it could still use a little tweeking. The carpet on stairs should be replaced as quite worn and is separating at the top. Cushions for the outdoor furniture would make it more comfy to watch the gorgeous ocean waves and for entertaining. On the whole very well-equipped but could use a safe for valuables as well as new pillows and pillow protectors in the bedroom. The duvet and shams were tasteful as were the furnishings. The owners were excellent to deal with and very organized with communication, directions etc.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review.
It is very important to be accurate when making comments about accommodations. As a reader of this comment you should know that my wife Kris and I invested over $100,000 in our 2007 remodel. It included: new tile floors inside and outside on both lanais, granite kitchen and bathroom counter tops, created walk-in shower in master bath, replaced all bathroom toilets and tube in second bathroom, added central air-condition, new ceiling fans, remodeled kitchen and added a build in desk area off kitchen, all new furniture (king size bed in bedroom) and appliances, new pictures and much more. Not just paint and granite
The only carpet in the condo is on the stairs which we chose to do for safety purposes. As far as the carpet coming loose at the top of the stairs my cleaning person reported it on March 15 and on our annual visit beginning March 16, 2010 I had the carpet reattached at the very top of the step. The carpet was cleaned and although is 3 years old it still does not look very worn to justify replacement. Because it is a low mat carpet the renters may have viewed this as worn. Reality is that things do break in homes and as owners we always make repairs immediately upon notification.
We do have a new cushion for the front lanai teak recliner which the guest did not mention. However, we do not have cushions on the individual teak chairs around the outside teak dining table. Due to the ocean salt. sun, and occasional rains and primarily sanitary purposes we have chosen to oil the teak wood rather than adding individual chair cushions.
We do replace the bedroom pillows every two years so we will look at replacing them again and this is a fair comment and request for luxury accommodations such as Kanaloa 3504.

We didn't want to leave. Didn't have to puchase or bring many of the items we did traveling with children. I would stay in this condo as my altimate best Kona condo we've stayed in. Owner easy to work with and Kona staff by far the best. 10 star.

My daughter (10yrs) and I left the boys home and came to your beautiful island. It was, by far, the most amazing vacation I've done. We snorkeled, surfed, paid homage to Pele at Kilauea caldera, hiked - a lot, visited the Hilo area waterfalls and discovered tide pools. None of these things would have been so greatly enhanced had we not had such a lovely 'home' to return to at the end of each day. The condo was beautiful, the staff was outstanding, we found ourselves continually impressed with each passing day. The only disappointment on this vacation was having to leave. We are planning our next vacation now and it is no surprise, it is on the Big Island. Mahalo, Mark and aloha Condo's staff. We will be back!

This is a great place. It is very clean, modern and has almost all of the comforts of home. The kitchen is better stocked than most other vacation apartments that we've rented. In hindsight, a more complete list on the Web site of exactly what is here might be useful, as there were some things we brought that were already in the condo. It was a nice touch to have someone turn on the lights and the stereo softly for our arrival. It was very nice to have a washer and dryer. The stereo and TVs were in great working order, as advertised. We LOVED the automatic ice maker and little cooler. They were both very useful for packing drinks and keeping food cool for day trips. We also used the bamboo mats on the beach - much better than towels and better at keeping residual sand out of the condo. Another thing that we really appreciated was the binder on the coffee table with great info and the Hawaii Revealed Book. The adult pool is the only one we used and it was very clean and well maintained. We were a little disappointed the ocean pool was closed for renovations but c'est la vie. The only problem we had was mosquitoes in the bedroom at night. The screens on both sliding doors, as well as the one over the bed need a little adjustment and we were wakened by buzzing around our heads and had to get up and do a mosquito hunt. The proximity to all the necessary services is excellent. The staff, from the security gate to the grounds staff to the house cleaner were all very friendly and helpful. One night that we had to call security to remind some very noisy people out by the barbecue pit that quiet time was in effect at 10pm. The security people responded immediately and the noise stopped minutes after that call. Great service. We certainly recommend this facility.
Manager response:
Thank you for the comments and suggestions.
The bedroom screens have been replaced and repaired.

The condo was a super deal, $640 total for 5 nights. We liked the fact that the owner included good quality snorkeling equipment for our benefit. The place was old and in need of renovation but clean. The pillows were quite cheap, hard and uncomfortable. Also, quite a bit of noise from the condo next to ours (ground floor unit) but obviously no reflection on our unit. Overall, excellent value for the money. The photos accurately reflected the interior so no surprises upon arrival.
A very pleasant place to stay with many amenities.

We visit the islands often and enjoyed this condo, however we will look elsewhere next visit. The issue is with the refund policy. We reserved this condo less that 60 days before occupancy. Two days after completing our reservation we contacted the owner that we needed to lessen the stay from eight nights to seven. Since we were in the no refund range, we did not get a refund for that day. We understand the policy. We also understand how repeat business works.

I stayed at Kanaloa complex on an earlier trip and really enjoyed the location and facilities. They have tennis courts, 3 pools (one that is for adults only, YEY!!), near shopping and cinema, less than 2 miles from a great beach, Kanaluu. This trip we were looking for a smaller condo than last time and found condo #1203. The condo was awesome: Big, well supplied and appointed, clean, comfortable. We spent a wonderful week in Kona scuba diving, swimming in the pool and lounging around. The bed was super comfortable as well. The gentleman renting the condo was very kind and easy to work with. There is a good binder with all the information you need at the condo. I highly recommend this condo #1203 and complex. This is a really nice place so treat it well!

After booking the condo unit for my mother in law for a wedding in Kona, we had some extreme circumstances come up. The bride was diagnosed with breast cancer and was starting treatment immediately. With under a month to go we were forced to cancel the plans, I was treated with sympathy and gracious hospitality, as the booking agent offered to give my mother in law the room at a later date even though it was within a month. Later in the week the booking agent called back and happily left a message saying that they were able to book out the room and we would get a refund in full. We will definately stay there on our next visit to Kona and recommend it based on the Extreme Courtesy we received!

Rented this condo for 2 weeks but only stayed in it for one - not because of the condo but because of the VOG which was terrible at the time. We found the condo to be reasonably comfortable and quite well equipped although much of the outdoor equipment that the owner has left for guests to use was in poor condition. My wife complained that the condo was not very clean - I believe the word she used was "disgusting" - although I found it not bad myself. It could have used a good dusting and a little more attention in the closets and bathroom. The photos that the owner has posted represent the condo fairly. Outside, the grounds are nice and well maintained - we did not use the pools. The lanai furniture was a little scary - we placed towels over it before sitting down so our clothes wouldn't get dirty. The location is not bad - very close to a good shopping centre and to Kailua-Kona - and there is a nice, if short, shoreline path surrounding the property but no place for safe ocean entry. Overall, we give it a "just okay".

Condo 2904 is very nice overall and is recommended. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the bed is very comfortable. The view is very good and close to the ocean. There are a few minor issues that stop me from giving the condo a 5: the bathrooms are servicable but they definitely need a remodel (one bathroom is partially redone), the foam pillows were comfy for foam but there were no feather pillows which we prefer, the walls are pretty thin, but that is likely the case for most condos, and the wireless router was completely unsecured with no encryption. The biggest issue is that the TV set up is not great - there is a small flat screen in the main room (it is very small) and the DVD and VCR set up is a nigthmare (2 separate units, with the DVD routed through the VCR). I am really good at figuring these setups out but I could get sound or picture, but not both. The bedroom has a medium sized tube with a DVD/VCR combo which is a lot easier to use. These are relatively minor issues with the TV being the biggest if you were to stay several weeks.

I'm not surprised to learn that Aloha Condos would like a review of our stay in Kona. Like everything else, their follow-up is flawless. We arrived late on Saturday night and were greeted by the gate guard. She escorted us to the unit, waited to make sure we had proper entry, and then left with a smile. Needless to say, we were in bed within the hour. Upon awakening, we rushed to the lanai to take in the magnificent view in the early morning sunlight. We were just in time to see a humpbacked whale do a complete jump out of the water, and come crashing down again. So spectacular it's hard to even describe. But, that was just the first hour. Everything just got better and better after that. We thoroughly enjoyed the condo, the surroundings, and the island. We especially liked Lulu's downtown. Great Mai Tai's, great Poke, and really fair prices. Found the speed limits to be somewhat confining, especially on the open road, but that's because I'm used to 55 mph on city streets here in the desert. All in all, a great place to vacation. Quiet, great view, close to everything, and very reasonable prices. Thanks Aloha for a memorable vacation experience. Oh yes, Bruce is the best... any problems, he'll handle it immediately... Jamison's is pricy. King Kam's Luau is the best. and the open air market on Ahi'i Street is well worth stopping for (better than the one downtown on the water)... The concierge saved us about $500 in fees for the activities we chose to do... Thanks Shawn. Snorkeling, Horseback riding in Waip'io Valley, sunset cruise on the catamaran, the luau, the volcano, and of course, the Black Pearl engagement ring we found in Hilo... yep, it was a great two weeks. Thanks.

If you're like us and don't need a beach at your front door but you still want the ocean views and fresh breezes, you'll love this condo. It has a great lanai with comfortable lounge chairs along with a table, so you can spend your entire time there and still have the great Hawaii experience. But if you want to get out and explore and enjoy the attractions of the Big Island, this place is ideally located, just minutes away from Kona town with its great restaurants and many activities. You'll find this apartment to be just like home with its full sized appliances, comfortable beds and even a second lanai off the large bedroom. The area affords convenient shopping, nearby golf courses and easy access to the major roads on the Big Island. Covered parking along with a large pool and clubhouse nearby makes this complex an ideal location for families and couples. The unit doesn't have air conditioning but it really doesn't need it because of the large windows, sliding doors and ceiling fans that circulate the cool ocean breeze. The unit and the complex itself is well maintained and clean and the full time gate attendant gives you a feeling of security. There is an on-site restaurant offering a gourmet Hawaiian dining experience and an opportunity to enjoy a gorgeous ocean sunset. We can hardly wait to go back!
