We had a great stay at Condo 2601, and we'd go back again. The check-in process was easy and quick (email with clear and simple instructions). We recommend using the a/C especially if your children are used to sleeping (napping during the day) in a quiet setting. The only noise was made by grounds-keeping service (leaf blowers or some motorized equipment). The indoor slippers help (tile floor). The kitchen is well equipped with appliances, dishes, and dish washing powder, and extra trash bags (it is your responsibility to take the trash out). We recycled plastic, glass and aluminum, but were not quite sure where to take it to. The housekeeping service we ran into outside offered to take it for us. The living room was very comfortable and had TV, VCR, DVD and cable. The drawer below the TV contains a selection of movies. The DVD in the living room won't play the foreign (non-us system) Dvds. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. There is a blow-drier, and basic cleaning supplies, and broom and a vacuum cleaner. There is some beach equipment (towels, toys for children, floating toys, coolers, beach chairs). The wireless connection worked. During our stay, the big disappointment was that the pool right in front of our apartment was not operating (repairs from april 2010 to ?). However, the other pool (for kids) was very near. We saw (not heard) some improvement made on the pool being repaired. As for the beach, the little "bay" south of the condos as seen on Google Earth seems walking-distance beach accessible. The access to the beach is steep, hit by waves, and not for kids. The wonderful and safe beaches just several miles away. For the kids, the "Keiki beach" close to the public swimming complex and the old airport is nice (it is a tidal pool with sand and "pahoehoe" (smooth) lava rocks). Ask the locals for directions. We had a great vacation and the kids called it "our home on the Big Island."

This was a wonderful condo, very spacious, comfortable and fully stocked. We utilized the beach chairs, cooler and the books. The location was perfect, the quiet setting makes you feel as if you are more remote than you actually are as downtown Kailua Kona is just an easy drive north on Ali'i Drive. We enjoyed many of the beaches around the island with one of the best snorkel beaches just minutes away. We had dinners on the lanai while watching beautiful sunsets. The staff were wonderful as they were all extremely friendly and responsive to our questions. There were a few things around the condo that needed attention but according to the housekeeper the owners were aware and had plans for repair. We loved this condo and have plans to return next year!

We were skeptical of the pictures on the internet because we had been stung before. This condo is clean and very well stocked and has really been taken care of. Be careful on what screens you open though, we ended up with a gecko visitor. The kids had a blast capturing him to release back outside! We were impressed with the view, the location is great, and you can listen to the surf as you fall asleep after watching the amazing sunset from the pool or spa tub. The grounds are clean and the staff is very helpful. This condo even has beach towels and an assortment of beach toys, boogie boards and a cooler to pack lunches in. Condo 2601 is very spacious. My husband and I were travelling with our two children aged fifteen and twelve and we all had such a great time here. If we ever get a chance to return to the Big Island of Hawaii we would definitly try to book this condo again. The very best snorkelling on the island is just down the road at the public beach, my daughter and I were surrounded by six turtles!

Very well supplied and roomy. Great location near ocean pool and barbeque. Good view, but not so close that the ocean mist covers everything. We usually get upstairs units, missed the vaulted ceilings, but not the stairs when hauling luggage. Unit could use painting and a new master bedrooom bed and some other owner TLC. Met the housekeeper on our way out. What a nice lady! I'd stay in this unit again. I've never been disappointed by renting from Aloha Condos - and I've rented from them a few times. Kanaloa is a great condo complex.

We liked everything about this place. We did not have to deal with any front desk, just get the parking pass from the gate monitor and straight to the condo. It felt like we were staying at our own house. Complete with everything one needs for cooking (including some required spices and oils), beach chairs, boogie boards, candles, and everything you can think of. This place overlooks the family pool (closes at 8 pm) and you can see and hear the waves from the patio. This unit was hundreds of dollar's cheaper than the direct ocean front where you can see the sunset, but it is only a 1 minute walk from the ocean front. I think a worth trade off, especially considering how easy this place was to stay at. If you have young ones, this place is a plus because they have some gear for toddlers (sand toys, training potty, etc.) Enjoy the jacuzzi tub and dual heads shower in the master bath. No complaints. A little work is needed on the sliding screen door on patio. We loved it. Thank you.

We have stayed in this community for three years now and would highly recommend it. The condos are well kept, have W/D A/C or fans - lanais with great views. This had had ample beach towels and tour books on HI. The location is great, about 10 mins from 'downtown' Kona, as well as close to the Southern region with coffee plants and coves for snorkel. Would definitely rent this unit again.

The condo was well-cared for and had all the amenities one could wish for and more. We really enjoyed the ocean view and the quiet surrounding. There was a grocery store nearby with a large selection and this allowed us to take advantage of the well thought out kitchen as well as the BBQ facilities. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay and hope to be able to return someday.

Excellent location near Keahou Shopping Center. Beautiful pool and lava shoreline just steps from the front door. Spacious and well-equipped. Staff left a bottle of wine for our 25th anniversary - nice touch!

This was an absolutely beautiful property and condo. Our family of 5 stayed there for over a week and it was the perfect size and great location. We have visited the Big Island each year for the past 5 years and this was our first time staying in a condo. We will never stay anywhere else but at the Kanaloa in the future, and we hope to be lucky enough to stay in unit 2601. I can't say enough on how much we liked the property and the condo. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! See you next year!
Great place to stay with family.

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying at this Condo. The view is nice and the pool in front is great. It is too bad that this pool closed at 6pm. For an older Condo, it has been upgraded nicely. The master bathroom is very large and roomy, as is the bedroom. We ate all our meals at the Condo or made lunches that we took with us. There was a cooler in the closet that we used for our day trips. The shared BBQ by the pool worked well and was very nice clean every time we used it. We came at low season so using it was no problem at all. This was our first time the the Big Island and we had a great time.

Rooms and amenities were sufficient and comfortable, although I was not very satisfied with its cleanliness, especially of floor and kitchenwares. We were also a bit annoyed with noises came from upper unit. I guess one of bath rooms of upper unit is located right overhead of the bedrooms of unit 2601. Noises of showers and toilet flush came through a ceiling were not very comfortable. I also thought the screens placed on the windows facing lanai should be maintained. It was very hard to handle and have a couple of small holes. Besides these minor issues, however, we really enjoyed our stay at Kanaloa. It's location is very convenient and easy to access to beaches, shopping centers, yet hidden and quiet. I can't forget beautiful sunset we saw from the lanai. I also emphasize that all condo staffs were very kind and helpful as well. If I have a chance to visit Big Island again, I will definitely come back to Kanaloa.

This was a nicely decorated and well-stocked condo. It was great to have beach towels and chairs available as those items come in handy in Hawaii. Very comfortable, and the huge master bathroom was awesome. We loved the view of the ocean over the pool and hope to stay longer next time.
Great accomodations, lovely site

Plenty of room for all 4 adults, gorgeous view from the lanai and easy access to the barbecue grill. Aside from slightly erratic wireless access, no complaints from anyone and we'd all return without hesitation. The owl picture in the main bath was a big hit!

We have stayed at Kanaloa at Kona on prior visits, and really enjoy the property. The pools and hot tubs are wonderful, there is nothing better than sitting by the ocean side pool watching the dolphins or whales play in the ocean. Our suite was very spacious, The Lanai in our suite was also large with a great view to both the ocean and the pool. We had a great stay.

Ideal for a wonderful family vacation. Condo was a little dated but you could see updating was starting to occur. This partiular unit fit our family perfectly (two adults and two college student daughters plus a cousin's daughter). Enjoyed the spectacular view. We are a very active family and most of our time was spent either in or under the water. There are numerous snorkeling beaches within easy drive. Anybody going to the Big Island must catch a bite and beer at the Kona Brewery restaurant. The best pizza (Greek) we ever ate. We hope to do this again.

We spent four nights in this unit in January 2009 and loved every minute. The unit itself was clean and tidy, despite a couple of gecko visitors, and the lanai with views of the water and pool was unbeatable. The location is close to downtown Kona but a little removed, so it was nice and quiet. We enjoyed being right around the corner from the grocery store so we could stock our kitchen and cook some meals, which greatly cut down our vacation costs. I would definitely recommend this unit, particularly for families with two kids. One bedroom has a king (?) bed and the other has two twins.

We are fond of the Kanaloa Condominiums, especially unit 2601. It's comfortable and feels like a home away from home. The unit is very convenient to the pool, bbq grill, and the rugged coastline. The master bath is large with a double shower and in a separate room has a jacuzzi tub that helps melt away one's cares! The kitchen is easy to navigate with an extra large refrigerator and wide countertops. The lanai is spacious with a table that easily seats six. Our one and only hope is that the master king bed be replaced as it's a little uncomfortable.
